Thought there would be chaos in Geiranger: - Much fewer people than we had expected
The police are satisfied after the weekend's efforts. Both the mayor, visitors and several people in the village thought there would be more chaos during the wedding weekend.

The police have long planned for the Princess's wedding. They have ensured the safety of the event, the guests, and those who visited Geiranger this weekend. According to team leader Stian Fagervold, things have gone very well.
- Things have been going great all along. We have had a good weekend together with many others.
- There have been a lot of drones flying around the area. What can you say about it?
- We have observed it and had control over it the whole time.
- Have the wedding guests behaved well?
- I have no impression of anything else.
Surprised at how few people there were at the campsite
On Saturday, Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett said yes, and both Norwegian and international press were ready with microphones and cameras. Several people travelled to Geiranger to catch the wedding, but many thought it would be more crowded.
Jan Werner Nesmoen and his wife Marianne Cross made the trip from Askim.
- Because she wanted to. It's a birthday and a Christmas present. I wasn't as interested as her, but it was fun.
They arrived at the campsite in Geiranger already on Wednesday afternoon because they were afraid it would be packed.
- I asked if we had a plan B if we had to turn around, but there was no problem. There were [only a] few people.
- Are you surprised at how few people there were?
- Yes, I didn't think we would get [a spot] by the sea and a full view of the royal ship and everything.
Mayor of Stranda, Einar Arve Nordang from the Conservative Party, thinks it has been a brilliant wedding weekend, with sun, good atmosphere and many festively dressed people in the streets.
Ahead of the wedding, he went out and said there were limited parking spaces in the city centre, but the day was not as chaotic as expected.
- Many people told me there were fewer people than they expected. I thought so myself that there could actually have been a bit more people.

Think people were scared away from going to Geiranger
After the weekend, Marianne Cross is delighted.
- We had a lot of fun, and it was worth all the waiting and sore legs.
Jan Werner Nesmoen is not as happy with all the waiting.
- I feel sorry for the journalists who had to stand for many hours to maybe get a glimpse.
And the press corps was large. Both international and national media were present. And, of course, the local newspaper Nyss.
- The weekend has been very eventful and we are still a bit dizzy after all the impressions. It has gone beyond all expectations. At the same time, there have been much fewer people than we had expected, says editor Monica Aure Fallingen.
- Why do you think there haven't been more?
- I think people have been a little scared that there would be total chaos, but there was room for more people here.
- How did the locals summarize the wedding weekend?
- They enjoy themselves, volunteer and stand on. We have celebrated love. There were children who had a parade from the schools around here, and dancing and joy. Very nice.

. ENG: 🌴The term tropical night sounds a bit weird to us who live far away from the equator. The term is used in Norway, and some other European countries, to describe days when the temperature does not fall under 20°C during the night time. This means that you can kick off the duvet, find your flip flops, swimwear and take a nightswim, if you dare. . . . . #Norge #Sunnmørsalpane #Sykkylven #Straumgjerde #Fitjavatnet #nrkmogr #lory_norway #nordtopp #tv_aqua #marineroutboards #mercurymarine #nightswim #tropenatt #nattbad #norsknatur #kystnorge #norgefoto #utno #utnorge #norgerundt #mittfriluftsliv #mittnorge #mittvestland #naturelovers #norgestoppen #neverstopexploring #stedervielsker #countryside #pocket_norway #highlightsofnorway (ved Sykkylven) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBY3wpcsXSZ/?igshid=5tnxpkipwbpn
