In regards to the newest chapter of Haikyuu!!, can I say how happy I am that Furudate sensei hasn't shown any "quite decent players, probably could go pro, but anyway they didn't for this or that reason" in pro careers?!

It would be so unrealistic and looks more like fanservice than a solid storyline.

Of course, by me saying that, it means I do have a list (?) of people that I think will and won’t go pro. Yes, I know, unless I am Furudate, I can’t really pinpoint who will be pro athletes and who won’t be. But I believe, we as dedicated fans, can all at least make some sensible guesses about that.

Now, moving on. The players that I actually think would go pro so far have appeared in manga as pros (cheers me!). As for the rest of them, I’ll try to break it down by teams coz it’s easier and tidier. Mind you, I’m not athletic and can’t do any sports at all. So technique-wise, I can’t explain much. I go by intuition and deep thinking for pretty much all of my guesses below. So if you’re going to read my analysis (?) or opinion (?), please don’t be too harsh on me just because I can’t give you the logical reasons behind it. Maybe, I should apologize in advance for this.

Karasuno (brace yourself, it’s gonna be long)

Kageyama is the first one. I honestly can’t see any other career choice for him except going pro and finally be a coach after he retired. Kageyama has been playing and practicing volleyball the longest, since he was 7 (Hoshiumi too). And this is the reason why he’s so far ahead of everyone. Also, he’s even worse than Hinata in school, so there’s no way he went to university to me. So, pro it is.

Aside from Kageyama (and Hinata, but I believe I don’t need to explain Hinata to you coz we’re currently the viewers of his journey to be a professional player), I can only see Nishinoya going pro. For me, he stands in the same category as Kageyama. And he’s not going to university with a brain like his. Not trying to be rude or belittling him, but I just can’t see Nishinoya voluntarily enrolling in college. Other than that, Nishinoya is one of the best Libero in the series. It still bothers me even to this day, that he wasn’t invited to the Youth Camp with Kageyama. But I think I understand why: there are just too many great Liberos and The Youth Camp wouldn’t be able to hold everyone there. Besides, there’s the “positioning after receiving thing” that Kageyama had to tell him. Who knows if Nishinoya has been doing that for so long?! An observant scouting staff or professional coach would definitely think it’s a minus point. And there’s the suspension he got too. Idk about other countries much, but I know how Japan really takes care of their background and portfolio. His suspension may be not for something dangerous like drugs, but it definitely marred his resume for the Youth Camp a bit. But Nishinoya has moved past that now and pro career is not so impossible for him.

For the other 2nd years: Tanaka, Ennoshita, Kinoshita, and Narita, they probably won’t go pro. Tanaka has a higher chance though, and deep down I want him to shine more in volley, but I still don’t think so. Tanaka & Kinoshita look like they will go straight down to labor working right after graduation. Ennoshita & Narita were in class 4 and can be assumed as pretty smart, so college and office working probably.

Tbh, I actually can see Asahi be a pro. But, he’s a bit tricky. It all depends on whether he got scouted after Spring High or not. Coz he already chose not to go to university, so it is not impossible as well. As for the rest of the 3rd years, no. I think they have other things (or a career) that they want to pursue and they are smart enough to do it (Daichi and Suga were both in college preparatory class). Though, I would love to see Daichi graduating from sport science or something and go back to Karasuno and be an assistant coach hehe.

For first years, I don’t think Tsukishima & Yamaguchi will go pro. Same like Daichi & Suga, I believe they both have a dream job in their mind, hence why they chose to go to university. Ofc, they can go pro after graduation, but I have little faith in it. Now, I think Tsukishima wanted to be an archaeologist or something along the line (all those dinosaurs!!!), I would be so happy if it turned out to be true.

Aoba Johsai

Except Oikawa, I honestly don’t think the rest of Seijoh will be pros. Maybe Iwaizumi or Kyoutani, but the others, not so much. On a side note, Oikawa (and Hinata) is the most surprising outta the rest of the Haikyuu!! characters. I mean, I never would’ve thought that he’d fly to Argentina and join a league there. I always think he’d join a Japan team. But I love the element of surprise, so I guess it’s fine.

Datekou

Aone has the best chance. Simply because he has all the necessary skills. But he’s so quiet I can’t guess anything from him. I could be wrong, really. Futakuchi and Koganegawa aren’t so bad either, but Idk tho.

Johzenji

I have no idea, truthfully. But I’m leaning more toward the opinion that no one from the team will continue playing professionally.

Kakugawa

I really really wish Hyakuzawa going pro. He’s blessed with the height and also power. With enough practice, he’ll be great. But that’s just my wishful thinking. I can’t really guess him, similar to Aone.

Shiratorizawa

Ushijima is another one of my “definitely going pro people”. He’s just a complete package. He has the sense, the height, the power, the… everything. It would be a big waste for him to just stop. And Ushijima is a volleyball baka too, so he loves the sport too much to not continue playing.

I also think that Goshiki might try to get into pro teams too, maybe after completing college. I don’t think he’d stop just like that. I mean, after Ushijima retired, Shiratorizawa never went to National again. I think that hit him hard. Especially because Ushijima left the team on his hand as the next ace. I would really love to see Goshiki improving himself and kinda get a revenge by getting much much better than before. But, if he doesn’t go pro, it won’t be really disappointing to me. After all, Haikyuu!! always tries to be as close as possible to real life, and in real life not every good player can be pro.

Tendou is a no no. He said he’d stop and he wouldn’t lie about it. Shirabu is confusing, but I think he’d stop in high school or maybe university. He’s not a bad setter, he’s good, but even within Shiratorizawa, his ability is not better than Semi. He was the starting setter just because he was able to blend into the background and be a support for Ushijima so he could shine. So, I really don’t think he got scouted or still pursuing Ushijima.

For the rest of Shiratorizawa, we didn’t see much of them so I can’t make clear guesses. I apologize once again.

Nekoma

Nekoma is also a bit confusing. But, I could see Lev go pro. He’s not super duper amazing per se (I say this based on his performance up to National, idk how he is now okay), but he has the talent and all those height and power. His progress is fast too. I think it’d catch the scouting agents’ attention.

Now, Kenma definitely wouldn’t go pro and we’re shown that XD. Surprise though, I always had a headcanon that he’d be a pro gamer or secretly doing stock trading. Just never thought he’d be a YouTuber and a company board member (or is it CEO?!). Imagine my feeling when my “simply headcanon” became real.

Kuroo is a bit like Asahi, but I honestly believe he is really smart and probably wanna do something else. I wish Yaku would go pro coz he’s a really top caliber Libero (and I would really like to watch his rivalry with Nishinoya grow more), but he didn’t really show much “ambition” for professional career for me. The rest of the members wouldn’t go pro too imo.

Fukurodani

Now, as much as it breaks my heart to say this, I don’t think Akaashi is going pro. He gives me “doctor/scientist/basically high and smart position vibe” somehow. And he’s very clever as well (all those thinking he does lmao), I think he’d pursue something else. So volleyball stopped in high school or university for him. Idk about the rest of Fukurodani though. I definitely wanna see more of Konoha, but the chance is small.

Bokuto >>> pro for me. Been that for a long time. He doesn’t strike me as academically gifted, but I can be wrong ofc. He could: a) straight going pro after high school or b) finished college then go pro. Either way, he’s definitely pro athletes material.

Inarizaki

Atsumu (I’ll call him Atsumu to differentiate him with his twin, even though I prefer last name tbh) also >>> pro. The reason is pretty similar to Ushijima/Kageyama/Bokuto. He’s just that good. Oh on this, I really should mention that I believe all the Youth Camp candidates are going to be or already pros (this by extension means Sakusa & Komori from Itachiyama).

For the rest of Inarizaki, the ones that will be pro are Aran and Osamu. Aran is awesome and one of the best 5 aces in the nation. I know he would get scouted. Whether he go pro after high school or after finishing college, idk. But he will be pro. I would riot if he isn’t. And for Osamu, it would be really cool if he goes to a different team than his twin and they will fight it out on court.

On a side note, Kita is one of my favorite characters and he’s the one that from personality and mindset, can resonate the most with me. But tbh, I’m certain he’s not gonna go pro.

Kamomedai

The only Kamomedai members that would be pro for me are Hoshiumi and Hakuba. Hirugami is high level himself ofc, but idk, I didn’t get the pro ambition vibe from him, similar to Yaku.

Hoshiumi is another one in my list that I think would be revealed as a pro. He’s small, yes, but there’s a wing spiker in Japan National Men’s Volleyball Team that’s around 178cm, and I believe Hoshiumi has grown around this height too. I mean, Hinata has reached 171cm, so it’s possible that Hoshiumi has grown taller as well. Besides, he’s really really really good. He has one of the highest overall skill after Kageyama. He only lose in power coz well, he’s smaller. After all, there’s the promise he made to Hinata. So a showdown between them will definitely happen. So, I think it’s safe to assume Furudate will make him a pro athlete.

Hakuba >>> same vibe as Lev and Hyakuzawa. He’s tall af. Not many people can reach 2 meters (especially Japanese), so he’d bring an advantage for any pro teams.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention Kiryuu. He’s definitely going pro (or he already is?). I really really like and admire him. His character is so wholesome and amazing, he deserves the best. And that translates to the best career too. I would be so disappointed if he isn’t a pro.

There’s also Tsubakihara High School that Karasuno fought in the first round National. Out of those players, the ace (Teradomari) and their wing spiker (Maruyama) have the best chance to get scouted. But there’s little information that we have about them, so I’m not sure. Furudate might not bring them back to the present. This also applies to Ubugawa and Shinzen High School captains from the training camp. Oh, Daishou-kun is also an interesting character, I would love to see him again. But maybe he won’t come back as pro player tho. But him giving commentaries will be very appreciated hehe.

PS: I kinda wish Furudate was a fic writer, lol. They would be able to write absolute masterpiece of crack-pair fics considering how they are able to make sense of Bokuto-Atsumu and Ushijima-Kageyama, lmao. Who else after this? Hoshiumi-Sakusa? Nishinoya-Kiryuu? XD

Suwa - Murmurs

Murmurs are snippets of character reflection earned by increasing Explore Points during Exploration. They usually include 6-7 monologues about other characters and 3-4 monologues about things important to the specific character.

About Yatsufusa “Yatsufusa is a lucky dude. Those like him die instantly when they turn into a vampire. I know that from experience. We rescued him, Tenman-ya sheltered him, and Ishikawa showed him the way. An extremely lucky one. He’s like Kurusu how he doesn’t want to kill anyone.

But Kurusu is an A-Class after all. Most vampires avoid him in the first place even if he whines. But Yatsufusa is a C-Class like me... He can die if he lets his guard down.

Well, it’s none of my business. We both like watchin’ plays, so it’s not like I don’t wanna help him out. Only I can teach him hoe to fight as a C-Class. Ambushing and sneak attack is my style. Kill them cold with a cunning, silent, calm attitude. It’s best if the vampires don’t even realize that they’re dead. 

Though, I did mess around with them when I was young. That was when I got the nickname “Vampire Hunter.””

About Kurusu “Dear Kurusu is physically A-Class but naïve on the inside. I bet he never went through things like being attacked by a human being, or takin’ shelter in an abandoned house and freakin’ out to a ray of sunlight comin’ in from the cracks. Not even... having to kill anyone for their blood...

A vampire that’s cushioned by the military the moment he got infected and has blood supplied to him without killin’ anyone, huh...

I’ve been alive for some time, but I’ve never seen a vampire like him. He’s no vampire. He’s a complete human inside. I don’t mean to nag him sayin’... “Young ones these days.” Coz those are for geezers that are good for nothin’. Live as long as me, and naggin’ at new things and era becomes stupid.

An era where vampires fight for the government- then so be it. That’s all.”

About Maeda “You bump into guys like Maeda when live long like myself. Most of them die miserably. Guys like him are prepared to die even when they have the privilege to live. Not even a samurai in the Edo period was so bold as him. 

After all, Japan lived in peace for 300 years. Most of them died without havin’ to risk their own lives for somethin’. I haven’t seen those strong determined eyes in so long. If you wanna know the secret to longevity, that is to avoid any trouble with that kind. Even if you’re above them, they might turn on you with somethin’ outrageous. 

I battled a guy like Maeda once, but he almost chopped my head off. He was a famous swordsman... but I forgot what his name was.”

About Yamagami “Yamagami is useless. His vampire detectin’ skills are even useless. Cos we have Kurusu on our side. They sense us by the time Yamagami detects them. Not to mention that- I’m quite famous between vampires. 

So, Yamagami has to be on his own. But even if he detects a vampire, he’s unranked... meanin’ he can’t fight. He clings to things like honor and human kindness. And even to his wife... Kurusu can’t perform at his best because cos he covers up for Yamagami.

Can’t say we need Yamagami on our team as Code Zero. It’s not like he can do experiments behind the scene like Takeuchi so... just make him be our janitor.”

About Takeuchi “I’ve lived for quite some time but never met a vampire like Takeuchi before. Most of us fall into despair right when we become a vampire. The reason is simple. Being told that we can only consume blood, not being able to go under the sun, and end up sinkin’ in water. Just when you think it can’t get worse- we cannot die. That’s where most of us lose it and scream our heads off.

But him, Takeuchi- I heard that guy rejoiced. He yelled, “I can research forever!” I never heard of a vampire like that. Forget about all the nonsense about young ones being so spineless. He’s probably a subspecies of humankind IF he was human to start with...

Anywho, I wish he’s stop usin’ his skunk ball. Even the deodorize mask can’t block the smell if he uses it too much. 

But I like these daggers. They fit my style. Who knows how he makes them, but they’re durable and the best.”

About Defrott “Defrott- I haven’t seen a foreign vampire in a long time. My hair stood on end when I first met him. It was my first time seeing an S-Class and also an underaged vampire surviving for hundreds of years.

...He must be intelligent. Stayin’ young stands out so we can’t stay in one place for a long time. Judging by his appearance, people will start noticing him if nothin’ changes about him for three years. So he has to change his hideout every three years with a decent reason for a kid to be on his own...

A lot of underaged vampires will act with a grown one or threaten humans to act as their guardian- It’s a derogatory term, but we call those kinds “Parasites.” 

But Defrott chose to parasite on theater. A theatrical company will go on tours from one place to another. And he can disguise with makeup. Smart choice. But the smartest decision is that he doesn’t attack humans for whatever reason.” 

About Tenman-ya “Tenman-ya is like a sanctuary for vampires that wanna live as normal people. I heard vampires also have national traits. It’s said that Japanese vampires are quiet... but maybe they’re just timid. They’re probably hesitant of attacking people. 

I never cared, but some bragged that they’d only attack criminals... But there aren’t that many criminals out there, so they ended up attackin’ innocent people. 

During the end of the Edo period, there were those that impersonated Sonno Joi and attacked the supporters of the Shogun. It was entertaining watchin’ them take advantage of politics.

...Well, vampires made different excuses in order to get blood. But I guess the way Tenman-ya does it by payin’ vampires with blood suits Japanese vampires the best.”

About Code Zero “Vampires don’t act in groups unless they exceptionally get along with each other. They’ll stand out, and it’ll usually end up in a fight if you’re with someone for hundreds of years.

But it seems that vampires act together nowadays. They must be afraid of the Taisho era... the era where everything changes in a spilt second. That’s why they lean on each other. 

Well, I don’t blame them... I’m livin’ with a group of vampires under the roof of Code Zero myself. Which I never would have imagined 100 years ago. But lifestyle changes with time.

But man, it was crazy after the Edo period came to an end. I enjoyed it, but it must’ve been tough for those who saw it differently.”

About the Past “How old am I- I have no when I was born. There weren’t newspapers back then or a custom celebrating birthdays. It became easier when the western calendar came in. Peasants and merchants weren’t familiar with the names of eras either. 

When I told Takeuchi that I was tortured to death by vampires that snuck in with the missionary, he said, “That must be the Azuchi-Momoyama period.” So I just go with what he told me.

About the Height “My height... I’m fine being a vampire, but couldn’t they have wait for another two, three years before they bit me? The length of your limbs do impact in a battle. Takeuchi was sensible enough to make these boots with thick soles... but I can tell he also sees my height as a disadvantage. It’s the only pain I feel.

...Edo was a good time for me. There were less watchmen on patrol. Now, the Imperial Capital is full of police, and I’d get questioned if they see a kid like me walkin’ around at night. It’s annoyin’. The Special Forces Unit 16 and Code Zero are top-secret units, so they still suspect me even when I tell them where I belong to...

1: What inspires you?

hm well just basic stuff like “being in a good mood” lol or “being hyped up by friends” or “having reason to be particularly excited about something” which is all like, factors that Contribute Energy......learning about stuff / trying something and discovering like oh i’m Into this thing, or that for whatever reason something turns out to be more within reach / doable than i might’ve thought, like, hey i wanna get on this maybe.......~creatively~ it’s great to like, see other ppl’s art, and while i’ve sure been Inspired by professional artists, overall i’m more like, influenced and motivated by seeing the styles / specific works of Online Randos like me.......i also Draw to create [self-indulgent (usually fairly) niche fanart which is also probably gay and is all the time of characters i like] so like, the Stuff I Wanna Make Fanart Of (which has Whatever characters i specifically would like to draw lol) is sure directly Inspiring in that way. i’d say i never had that experience of like, ppl being kids and seeing some [distributed work in a certain art medium] like oh i want to make my own [distributed work in a certain art medium] as in like, i wanna publish a book, i wanna make movies, etc, but i guess i Did b/c i was like elementary school age in the early-to-mid 00s and experienced some instances of online fanart like :o :o wow damn ppl can do that?? just be a rando drawing fanart and sharing it w/ other people online???? and today i am living that dream, so good for me lol. and also i’d like to shoutout marge simpson anime, which is a particular piece of Online Art (technically fanart even lol) which was like, unusually Motivating as a single work of art lol, i made a notes app fanart like immediately and then a way more “painterly” piece of fanart that was v directly inspired by it lol.......and i was sure Drawing It Up last last winter when bmc 3.0 was impending / happening, b/c i got into like Just in the dec before, so that was Fresh, and then bam the Content is happening concurrently and as soon as we even just learned that jeremy has glasses i immediately spent like honestly 25 consecutive hours making fanart for that exact Inspiration. we didn’t even know abt the hello kitty shoes yet!!! and naturally im not out here for stats or clout but it is Inspiring when ppl enjoy the stuff i make and let me know one way or another. 9: Do you trust people easily, or do people have to earn your trust?

i have to say i am wary! that’s in part just like, a default anxiety defensive mode lol. but it takes me a hot minute (aka weeks....or months.....) to realize when someone like, would like to be friends or something, so while i can be Friendly and Outgoing w/ people like, immediately, i’m not picking up relationships left and right that are close enough that i’d particularly talk about “trust” or whatever. i’m not necessarily Distrustful either lol, it’s more just like, again re: the constant wariness thing. it is not unlike a cat lmao i vibe with them lol i Get that [approach]....and there’s been times i’ve been like “hmm i sure do Not vibe with this person ever and am not comfortable around them / interacting with them to any extent beyond occasional casual interactions that i don’t super enjoy. that’s me being overly anxious and failing to be personable i guess!!” and then that person Does give that reason down the line like oh, actually, that eternal uneasiness was warranted :/ damb

21: How does someone become friends with you?

yknow i was like “didn’t i Also answer this one previously” but it turned out the question i was thinking of, which i Had answered, was “how does someone become important to you” lmao.....same diff

tbh it’s kind of an arduous process lmao like. first of all i am Bad about initiating shit, and a lot of times will like, be wary of Directly Interacting with people for a while b/c i am also Bad At not being too passive / unwilling to assert anything so like, if someone’s regularly interacting with me but i’m not into it / Eventually Realize i’m not into it, it’s that thing again where my main strat is [v gradually sidle away] lol and just find it difficult to extricate myself from interactions / relationships and so that plays into me really feeling like i have to have some real confidence that i’d get on with / vibe with someone Before i start significantly interacting with / getting involved with them which....is also difficult natch lol like. can’t rly get a great feel for what someone’s like w/o talking to them.......but then if i Distance myself at all at any point will that be taken as rejection or whatever.......and then anyways say i Am talking to someone, then it’s like, also i’m just not fantastic at casual conversation always and that stage where you don’t know someone too well and talking is mostly a Polite Ritual and it’s like oh god don’t mess up, respond Normally lmaoo......i am nervous. and i also have a tendency to just naturally try to make an interaction go smoothly than immediately prioritize / feel comfortable busting out My Personality lmao.....so then even if ppl are responding well enough it’s like ah jeez i know we’re all performing always but have i shown them What I’m Actually Like to any significant degree, am i just masking it up / mirroring the crap out of how they talk?? and also it then takes me quite a while to put together “if someone keeps talking to you / choosing to interact with you for like, weeks, it probably means they want to / are interested in doing so” lol.........and then i’ll take ages more of trying to consciously Be More Myself without *also* feeling like this is too much of an act lol, and gradually picking up like oh they’re still not like, annoyed or disinterested or something..............what i am trying to say is it sure takes a minute lol

anyways idk just try to keep things in perspective, right......i generally am pretty Passive about gradually sidling away from relationships that are bad and so by the time i Have exited them it’s pretty overdue lmao and i get to be quite confident that it was The Right Thing........and just when looking back on stuff it’s like, well if you remember the Good or “Not That Bad(tm)” parts maybe consciously think about the whole of it And specifically the Bad parts / the reasons for peacing out.......also the other day i was mulling over some standard [conflicted / complicated feelings about having cut certain ppl out entirely] and it also occurred to me that a lot of the [conflicted] feeling part came from sympathy for them, whereas from the perspective of Entirely My Own Feelings On The Matter minus that “how do/would they feel about it” consideration, the thought of never interacting w/ these ppl is like. fine with me lol........stuff like this is always Complicated and Individual and there’s certainly no like, one-stop simple Guide To Navigating All This Kind Of Thing, Cmon It’s Easy........another consideration i saw the other day via a graphic on twitter, which is probably most relevant re: say, controlling / abusive Partners, was how like, to think about how someone is acting if they’re saying you should Take Them Back b/c they’ve Changed their behavior, but to pay attention to if they’re trying to guilt you into it / justifying or downplaying their previous behavior / shifting blame and otherwise manifesting the inherently harmful and controlling patterns that are supposed to be gone now........anyways yeah complicated stuff and also just p.s. yeah i think i’m alright but really what is the use in like considering there 2 be achievable Good or Bad Person Statuses for everyone........let’s say it’s an ongoing, active state to be in the process of consciously choosing to be Good and working towards Better. especially considering that We Live In A Society which tries to teach everyone and continuously imbues our existence with Bad Messages about how to perceive and engage with other people, and being A Good Person is a lifelong effort and it’s unhelpful to feel that if you’re already Good or well-intentioned enough you can just dust off your hands and be like “well my work here is done” and be unprepared to examine your beliefs/actions or deal with the might-as-well-assume-it’s-an-inevitability that even if u have some noble-ass beliefs you’ll fail to live up to them at some point/s.......so like yeah lol again i feel like i am a pretty good person but can always be better and ought to be aware of / willing to work on that at any point

Friends Don’t Get Crushes

It had been an entire week since Kid Danger had rescued Charlotte from the lion enclosure, yet she still avoided any one on one contact with Henry like the was contagious. When he and Ray returned from a crime, there would be something in the backroom that ‘urgently required her attention.’ If he got near, she took a step backwards. And considering their usual proximity to each other, it raised a few eyebrows.

Henry, however, had taken the only approach he knew: humor. Whenever a conversation with her seemed different to how it should be between two friends, he laughed or pulled weird faces in an attempt to break the tension. It never worked. Ever. In fact, it made Charlotte feel like any feelings he might have for her were all in her head. 

And despite them both assuring themselves that their newfound inability to be normal around each other had gone unnoticed by their co workers, it had had the opposite effect. Schwoz and Ray spent their evenings speculating what exactly had managed to create palpable tension between the two friends, but came up empty every time. Because Charlotte and Henry were friends. And friends don’t have crushes on each other.

As if their friendship wasn’t in a rough enough spot as it stood, word had soon gotten around that Charlotte was the newest in the line of people whose lives Kid Danger had saved. This, was the widespread news that had transformed school into her own personal hell.

“Was he cute?” “Did he smell good?” “Did he kiss you?” “Did you want him to?” 

Charlotte wasn’t sure what was worse; that she was being asked these questions about her best friend, or that her answers were no longer the ones they should have been. She could barely focus on classes anymore, instead her mind replayed the events from the week before, and the months before that. Her brain was desperately trying to trace back to one moment where her feelings had changed, one specific moment she could accuse her hormonal teenage mind of overthinking and fucking up her thoughts. It would be so much easier if this were just some simple problem she could solve. But there wasn’t any one occasion where Henry had swept her off her feet and put hearts in her eyes. Instead there were hundreds of little things, the kind of soft touches and heart felt exchanges that plagued her dreams every night. 

“We need to talk.” Charlotte was startled, wondering for a moment if her fear had managed to manifest in words. But when she looked up, the eyes that met hers belonged to a different male best friend. 

“About what, Jasper?” She asked loftily, trying to pretend that she hadn’t just been so consumed in her own thoughts that she hadn’t noticed the bell to signal the end of school and the room emptying around her.

“I know about the dreams.” Those five words were enough for Charlotte to grab her bag- and Jasper- and drag them both to the supply closet. It was as if the entire universe was out to expose her innermost thoughts and feelings; she didn’t need anymore people overhearing. 

Usually after school they would wait for Henry before all walking to work together, but today he was in detention for a reason she didn’t know, on account of the fact it had been forever since they last spoke, at least properly.

“Did Henry tell you?” She questioned, resting her weight on the wall with her hands in her hair, not at all pleased that soon everyone would know she had been having damsel in distress type fantasies about her best friend. If only her subconscious was less of a romantic.

“You told Henry?” Jasper sounded surprised. So, clearly he hadn’t been filled in about exactly what had gone down at the zoo. The only other person that knew was Piper. But Piper would never tell Jasper her secrets, she didn’t even know who she was really talking about. That meant- 

“The chameleon ring!” She exclaimed, the pieces of the puzzle beginning to fit together in her head. She had remembered Jasper mentioning something about needing to get revenge on Piper for a prank she pulled and it made sense that he’d use that to do it. Only that meant that Jasper was still under the impression that the dreams Charlotte had been having were about him. 

She didn’t want Jasper to find out the way she was feeling about Henry, the reality of the effect this could have on the future of their trio suddenly hitting her. But was also unfair to let him continue living under the misguided impression that she was in love with him. So she swallowed her pride and explained that the only reason she had lied in the first place was because she couldn’t bring herself to tell Piper, her only female friend, that she had developed a crush on her brother.

“Thank God! I thought I was gonna have to let you down gently,” Jasper breathed out in relief. Relief? Was the idea of dating her really that bad?

This hurt was clearly evident on her face, as he felt the need to add: “incase you haven’t noticed, I’m really more into boys.”

That had been a big deal for Jasper to admit out loud. There were no “I knew it”s exchanged, Charlotte not wanting to undermine the courage the admission had taken. He looked more vulnerable than she’d ever seen him when she wrapped her arms around him as tight as they’d allow her to, muttering into his chest how proud of him she was.  They remained like this for a quiet moment longer, allowing all the new information to sink in. 

Detention had let out early -due to Ms. Shappen having a ‘hot date’ that evening- and you could imagine how it looked to Henry when he saw his two best friends emerge from the janitor’s closet with their arms around each other’s shoulders. He wasn’t quite sure why the emotion that consumed him, as he watched from his locker, was of all things, jealousy. It wasn’t the kind he was used to, it wasn’t a fear of missing out on hanging out with his friends, it was a fear that his own dream, a revelation of sorts, had come too late.

Jasper could read Henry’s face like a book and he couldn’t help but laugh to himself over the idiocy of his two favourite people. Figuring now was as good a time as any to come out to his other best friend, he double checked the hallway was empty before saying two of the hardest, yet most relieving words to say out loud. “I’m gay.” 

“Bro,” Henry burst out, the word laced with affection as he strode towards him, engulfing him in a hug. The word meant more to Jasper than he was able to say, it was all he could do to not cry at the feeling of a weight being lifted off of his shoulders. 

It was Charlotte who suggested they stop to get ice cream before heading over to Junk N’ Stuff that afternoon. The three of them left the high school with their arms wrapped around each other and even with Jasper between them, it was the closest she and Henry had been all week. She pushed the thought from her mind. She had all the time in the world to obsess over her future with Henry, today was about Jasper.

Hello again <3

so i think im gonna write about my mental health today because i dont feel like i have anyone who understands fully apart from myself maybe so i need to Organise my Thoughts. as a kid i had a pretty normal childhood, a mum a dad and a brother - pretty nuclear right. but as a child i felt like my family maybe wasnt quite right, that this wasnt supposed to be what family is? perhaps. - i was scared of my mum a lot because she wasnt very understanding of me - and i was a great kid, never getting into trouble, very good at school, no issues whatsover. the thing that really shows how i thought of my relationship with my mum was when i was like maybe 8 or so having a parents night and at it my teacher had nothing bad to say apart from i was kinda bossy in group settings (im sure i dont need to explain how misogynistic that actually is- i was not bossy i was a natural leader) and when i got home my mum told me off for that and i felt like she was kinda cold to me and not taking all the good things about me into consideration when telling me off for that.

i feel like thats a really defining moment in my life when i realised i cant expect adults to Understand me, realised how people treat young girls, also started my defiant behaviour maybe or was kinda one of the key moments that made me dislike certain authorities in my life, that if people wont understand me regardless of how i explain myself then i wont bother trying to be understood by people who wont matter to me. anyway yes i was scared of my mum-like petrified sometimes- but my dad wasnt great either, he also had his shortcomings. i feel like he never really cared about me like he was kinda apathetic towards raising me like a parent - i feel he would be better suited as an uncle to someone rather than a dad - the funny childish guy that makes kids laugh -not the uncaring dad that cant be bothered to really learn about his kids. and i feel im sitting here complaining about my parents when the fact is that a lot of adults should never be parents, society has conditioned people into thinking the only way to be fulfilled in life is to live vicariously through your kids when life gets to such a boring and monotonous place where you feel the need to create a new life to spice things up lmao. i feel a lot of parents regret having kids but they cannot express that regret because it was their choice and they should deal with that, also saying you regret it would be pretty horrible to the kid.

so while yes i am complaing about my parents i dont think they were Bad in any way just not that great yaknow. also i just notice all these things growing up and i feel its been pretty impactful to understanding myself and my parents. also just some anecdotes from my childhood - i used to watch my dad play video games like the uncharted games i think theyre called, and whenever i got scared i used to hide behind the couch until the scary part was over (usually a lot of guns and high energy fight scenes thats too much adrenaline for a 7 yo) and sometimes when i would take out my dad/brothers game i would get them to fo the hard parts and do other stuff myself - i dont remember many games i played apart from one of the spidermen games where u could just web around the city and not progress apart from sometimes you would come across some strippers and i accidently got into a fight with them (also hot women with umbrellas they use to fight- maybe i went near them on purpose) i would yell to my dad and get him to do it for me. also on new years eve whenever my mum was working and we werent going to any family parties we would make a bunch of food and put it out in the kitchen - wed make like homemade onion rings, chips, have crisps and dips, and a bunch of junk basically and watch like austin powers or some shit and genuinely miss those times they were so simple. but a lot of thats tainted now from what happened. also my brothers always been annoying as shit but when we were kids we couldnt be in the same room without arguing which like whatever thats how kids are esp brothers and sisters for some reason.

i think thats majority of the background needed for the rest. wait this is a little addition but i meant to mention this here so ill put it in- basically sometimes on holidays i would geniunely think my parents hate each other/ were getting a divorce like once when we were in florida in 2012 my dad convinced my mum (as well as me and my brother convinced her since we liked them) we convinced her to go on a water slide thing that u had to walk up the stairs for, it was outdoors, and it was kinda tall and then we got in one of the big donut things and it swooshed from side to side a lot and was generally pretty scary i suppose for someone who doesnt like rides esp since you had to hold on to the handles there were no buckles or anything, and so when we got off the ride my mum was big mad at my dad and like wouldnt talk to him and stuff like that which was pretty uncomfortable to have to be the 8 year old mediator of that but there was also another occasion i think (maybe also at florida) where they were made at each other and i asked my mum if they were getting divorced and all she said was 'ask ur dad' like???? no sort of consolation to this child who thinks their parents hate each other nooo just petty 'ask him' and theres also been other times when they fight/ are mad and they dont feel the need to hide it from us so i felt quite anxious around my parents sometimes.

so ahnyway . yes. when i had just turned 13 my parents split up and it fucked me up in a multitude of ways. also i cant beleive i stopped being a proper kid at 13, like as soon as i turned a teenager life hit me like a fucking truck. so the context as to why they split is still kinda lost to me ngl but they didnt tell me much anyway since i was young but my mum basically said my dad didnt love her anymore and he wanted to separate. its kinda funny because leading up to this my dad had been sleeping in the living room for like a few weeks and there was on and off fighting i could hear and i basically thought they were fighting over me and that i was in trouble and it kinda used to keep me up coz i could hear loud voices when they thought i was asleep- which is probably the cause of why i get veryyyy mad and angry when i hear my mum at like 1 am downstairs when shes drinking and im trying to sleep, probably something ive internalised (is that the word?) and made me respond so strongly to those type of noises.

anywayyyyy yes i thought i was in trouble when they were actually just getting a divorce so ... yeah you can really tell i was young and didnt understand adult issues or really couldnt figure this out myself from all the arguing and him sleeping downstairs lmao. anyway my dad moved out and it was just me my mum and my brother now and at this point my brother wouldve been about to turn 18, so although still kinda shit, not really as affected my it as a 13 yo, just to keep in mind. so i was devastated obviously and my whole world was kinda shattered but i had to hold it together a bit, also i was sometimes my mothers own therapist having to say things like 'everything happens for a reason' 'itll get better' in response to her deteriorating mental health and her questions that would be really hard for me to answer like 'why did he leave' etc (bish im a child be there for me not wallow in ur own pity, u have ur whole life to sort this out youre an adult, im a 13 you and only months away from wanting to kms hun think of ur CHILD please) anyway this left me feeling like a burden if i were to share my mental state because when my mum shared her stuff she was burdening me (AGAIN i was 13 she is an adult) so that made me bottle a lot of things up also the fact that i had no one to share it with because she works as a nurse and now shes a single mother and so she works almost all hours of most days and i dont see her much, my brother was either working at this time or just didnt give enough of a shit about me to make sure i ate.

i went from being catered to for every meal because i didnt know how to cook to suddenly no one being there for me so i had to learn how to do it myself. needless to say that lead to a bunch of unhealthy eating habbits like eating the same things every day - frozen pizza, cheese toasties, i cant think of anything else probs because i didnt make anything else just ate chocolates or didnt eat breakfast coz i woke up at 2pm. just general unhealthyness both in substance and like how healthy that was for my head yk. also this is during the summer btw so it gave me the option to be incredibly depressed - im not saying that as an edgy teen thing to say im being 100% genuine i was very depressed like textbook style - not eating or overeating, not showering/ taking care of myself, extreme lack of energy and hated doing social things coz i had to put on a farce that i was okay meanwhile i couldnt wait to get into my bed and sleep the next day and a half away.

i very vividly remember at the start of the summer holiday my friend asked me if i wanted to go out and do something and i rememeber just crying at that because i had no reason to say no but i just didnt want to and felt like i couldnt do anything and so i lied and said i wasnt feeling well and then put my phone down and curled up in my bed and cried coz i was frustrated and upset and i couldnt really understand what was wrong with me and why i was Like This.

god i didnt take into account how tired i was and how late it is when i started this huh, this isnt even half of it, but i have obligations in the mornign, the last until uni or whatever so ill put this in my drafts and finsih it somethime. alrigtht it is 02:08 btw z_z. also ive just now decided im gonna re organise my tumblr so if this ends up being an actual blog thing i can navigate it easier by adding tags and such. anywau goodnight.

23:01- well. yes earlier i wrote a little about the ages 13-16 and how they sucked but whatever it got deleted the more pertinent stuff happened in the last year or so anyway.

um yeah so i started the last year of highschool as a 16 year old with a fucked up brain and never having learned any study techniques or work ethic in the slightest. i took 3 uni-level courses only one i actually wanted to do, most people take 2 at most or even 1/0 but do other classes. honestly it fucking sucked this year for school but i scraped all passes so thank god for that. so i started the year quite optimistic, or as much as i could be and in all fairness the content of this year wasnt actually that bad considering i was doing 3 hard classes but corona really truly fucked everything up and by November i had mentally dropped out of my classes but of course i still had to go to them. i feel like im an oddly independent teen because ive never had a solid parental presence in a while, like i had to do a lot for myself and maybe i should thank myself for getting me through it all because i really did pull through.

my thoughts keep drifting from what im writing coz i wanna talk about different things and im just thinking maybe i shouldve just posted the last one then added a reblog when i could be bothered to write and not force myself because if theres ever a reoccurring theme in my life is that if i force myself to do anything i will hate it with my entire being, so maybe i should just do a short synopsis and write about something else afterwards.

so i took 3 hard classes, slowly lost all motivation because in jan it switches to online classes and i could Not deal with those it was horrible, and i became more of a "troublesome student" in one of my classes *cough* maths *cough* and almost got "kicked out" of taking the class just because the teacher was a control freak but like wanted to control all of our actions and behaviour, also i think i may have adhd and another kid in my class i think he does too and surprise surprise the teacher "dislikes" him too but its only a farce because he doesnt actually dislike him its only so that i cant call him out for singling me out when other students behave "badly" too. but anyways maybe ill come back to this in a while when i can be arsed explaining my complicated relationship with my parents.

the only reason i wanted to write this today was so that i could tag the post with like june 2021 or something and not june/july, but i might make another post later, Anyway happy end of pride month i supose, hope u figure it out me!

“Remind me again why this is a good idea.”

You glare at the dark-haired boy in front of you, face coated with light sweat and the top two buttons of his school uniform undone, revealing what appears to be a black tank top underneath. You don’t seem pleased, and his face mirrors yours crystal clear.

“You can say that to the principal. He was the one that ordered us to collaborate for Shuutoku High’s 62nd anniversary after all,” you nearly scoff out the word at its ludicrousness, “which is evidently a bad idea, if the ‘practices’ we had for the past three weeks do not prove enough.” 

“Yeah, that’s on you and your snobbish classical-music-principles-must-be-upheld attitude,” he retorts, impersonating in an almost unintelligible, high-pitched voice that you assume is you. Your frown deepens at the childish mockery—you’ve seen him around school being very friendly and cheerful around his circle of friends (which include a lot of people, by the way). To see the flip side of the coin that is his personality, you realize, is in all ways tiring, disappointing, and infuriating. Who knew he could be this way? People won’t believe you if you tell them.

“I’ve never said that, and I don’t sound like that,” you reply, voice as stern as your unhappy gaze with your foot tapping on the piano pedal, not powerful enough to actually press it. “I just think that your idea of having a whole band accompaniment is too much. I can’t even see where the classical part fits in.”

Takao doesn’t look too pleased, obviously.

“Who says there needs to be a classical part, then?” He challenges as the grip on his electric guitar neck tightens. Your face morphs into that of mock laughter.

“Ahah—actually, the principal said so,” you deadpan, “and that’s, of course, the only reason I’m here.”

The two of you seem to stare lightning bolts into each others eyes, creating flaming sparks of tension, until both of you simultaneously look away and sigh. 

It’s your seventh time meeting each other over the course of three weeks and you both are tired.

“What were we talking about again?”

“The chord progression here,” you point at a bar in your sheet music, not caring that Takao is on the other side of the music room and most likely unable to see what you wrote. You press four chords, one harmony in succession of the other. “I was thinking it would be better if it was E minor to F-sharp instead of going to F-sharp minor.”

“Yeah,” his face falls as he remembers the debate. “I was thinking F-sharp sounds really predictable.”

“Is F-sharp minor not as equally predictable? They’re both one tone away from E minor anyways.” You say, facing away from your piano keys now and back onto him again, the doused rage slowly seeping back in. The same cannot be said for Takao, however, as he runs his fingers through his hair and unplugs his guitar, walking over to his case to pack up.

“This isn’t going anywhere. I’m out.” He announces as he leaves, his voice as sharp as blade contradicting the casual way he puts his hands in his pockets.

You don’t let go of your breath even after he slams the door to the music room, leaving you alone. This wasn’t what you expected when the principal assigned you to work together with him—you imagined a dash of fun and, at the end of the day, the Shuutoku High’s anthem presented in a unique blend of two juxtaposing musical genres. You’d gain experience working with a person with a different musical background, you would be pleased, he would be pleased, the principal would be pleased, everyone would be pleased. 

Not in this case, you think to yourself, looking at the mainly empty music sheet. You’ve barely finished the verse, there’s still the chorus to be worried about, and the principal expects the rearrangement of the school anthem to be presented during the celebration which is in slightly more than a month.

You’re doomed. Takao is an inherently different person—he plays and listens to a different genre, different instrument, writes down his music differently… it’s been nothing but bumps and hitches down the road so far. 

Left with no option, you slap your two hands against your cheek, trying to snap yourself out of it in the literal sense. 

You value the success of this project more than your pride.

A weak greeting offered, the bedroom door slammed. Clothes scattered on the floor, the shower was turned on, he got in and he got out. After almost an hour of lying down on his back staring at the ceiling of his room, Takao scratches his head and goes to work, grabbing the acoustic guitar by the bedside and strumming the chord progressions you told him earlier.

F-sharp or F-sharp minor.

Long, nimble fingers dance back and forth. E minor, F-sharp. E minor, F-sharp minor. He swears his ears are tricking him, because the more he plays it, the more the F-sharp you suggested sounds better—not like he’s going to admit that, of course. 

“Shit,” he curses. He rarely involves pride or ego in his music, so catching himself thinking that forces him to take a step back. He sighs, abandoning the guitar on the bed for a pillow in his arms as he flops back to bed. 

Maybe it’s because you’re so totally different. Yeah, that makes sense—he wants to tell you that you don’t know a damn thing about making good music (in retrospect, the unspoken message was probably sent through his actions), but deep down he knows that what he really means is that you don’t know how to make music of his taste.

He picks up his guitar, strums some chords again, and writes ‘F-sharp’ on the piece of paper when he hears his phone vibrate on his study desk.

When you read the words on the bright screen, that’s when you let out the first relieved sigh that day.

Four weeks until the performance date and though the song arrangement is complete, the relationship between the both of you hasn’t advanced much. One could describe it as a momentary truce (you both are mature enough for that), but it’s not like you two have much to argue about now, especially with the D-Day close at hand.

Playing music is best done with people you enjoy playing with. It isn’t surprising to find that your practice performances rather stale despite the rather moving arrangement of the school anthem. Takao’s initial idea of having a band as accompaniment was scrapped because the two of you simply don’t have time—it is also harder to coordinate schedules with more people.  

“Maybe make it softer around here,” he says, tapping on your sheet music. You wordlessly comply, playing the chords for him as the electric guitar sings above your piano on cue. It sounds good, but much like the relationship between the two of you, there’s still a gap of awkwardness that needs to be overcome.

“What do you think?”

“Mmm, okay,” you nod. At least he’s asking for your opinion now.

“I’m hungry,” he suddenly says. You send him a surprised look.

“Oh?”

“I can’t think when I’m hungry.” He adds, looking irritably into space. Your shoulders relax as you gather your papers and close the key lid. 

“Let’s go, then,” you say softly. “Food sounds good right about now.”

Takao stares at you, wide eyed, before feigning ignorance and simply tagging along your figure walking out of the music room. The late afternoon paints the world golden, he notices, and the way you seem to glow when you look back at him, asking if he’s coming, would trick him into thinking he has feelings for you had this been a shoujo manga.

It appears that everyone is out of school, the indoors empty and a handful of students using the outdoor courts. As you walk to Maji’s in the midst of Tokyo pedestrian traffic, he hears you humming to the tune of Sweet Dreams and considers elevating your relationship status: friends.

The weeks seem to roll by quickly and the day of the performance arrives. Neither of you are nervous, being fairly experienced with the stage. The song makes it easier to deliver—the two of you decided to do a more soulful take on your keys with a pinch of energy from his guitar, which is an… interesting way to present the anthem as opposed to the public expectations of a band performance. 

The principal, apparently, has kept this a secret until the moment of reveal.

School anthems usually adapt a very common pattern and style, so you personally feel like even the slightest out-of-place variation can bring miscellany, and that is exactly what you did with Takao on stage. The electric guitar sounds surprisingly well together with the piano, and the two of you proved your skills by juxtaposing each other with your instruments: the piano turning passionate and electric guitar mellow, before the chorus is repeated for the last time in a grandiose finale. 

Like every other performance you have given, the moment after the song ends is always the most confusing—as if you woke up from a dream so incredible it cannot be real. The crowd’s big applause is your wake up call, snapping you out of your dazed state to make you walk over to the center of the stage and perform the ultimate gesture as an entertainer who has ripped their heart and soul to please: bow.

Takao would look entranced still, if not for the small smirk-slash-smile he offers you as he stands next to you. The two of you bow, deep and long, before leaving the stage as the master of ceremony takes over.

“Can’t believe that happened,” he murmurs.

The two of you are up at the roof, lying down on concrete as you gaze at the late morning clouds. Who knows what brought you up there. 

You label it as post-performance high.

“Yeah,” you agree, sounding dumb. He snorts, but doesn’t look over to you as he calls out your name.

“What?”

“Sorry for what happened,” he begins quietly, “when we first worked together, I mean.”

“Oh,” you say, sounding even dumber. You spare him a quick glance before looking back at the clouds, suddenly feeling embarrassed. “Yeah. I’m sorry, too. It was partly my fault.”

“It was partly my fault, too,” he parrots. Then there’s a short silence, save for the buzzing excitement that is the school anniversary festival happening below. 

“You’re a cool person,” he says, finally looking over at you. You muster enough courage to make eye contact.

“You’re a cool person, too,” you parrot back. “You’ve got a nice music sense.”

“I have to admit that I didn’t really get classical at first,” he replies, less awkward and more serious. The determined look he sends you almost makes you blush. “But working with you changed my mind. I guess classical can be really cool, too.”

“I agree,” you smile, and it strikes Takao that you don’t do that a lot around him. He notices your outstretched hand. “Friends?”

Takao labels you as a friend a while ago, but he sees no harm in shaking on it.

“Friends.”

Just then, somebody’s stomach growls—neither of you are willing to admit—and you feel that it’s best to just head downstairs and check out the food stalls (it was your stomach). 

Takao hums to Mozart’s piano sonata while he walks with you. You don’t know if he’s doing it on purpose, but you’re buying him takoyaki.

for chinese and english, they were compulsory subjects at my school so i had no choice but to learn it, just the basics tho haha. for korean (and japanese, i’m taking baby steps towards japanese ;;), i learned for fun and also because i want to realize my goal of knowing at least 7 languages before i turn 30. for all of the languages i learn except japanese, i learn the basics with some kind of guidance (like teachers at school or a tutor) but improve later on by myself.
