can we all remember to just say 'oh no thank you, i dont like that kind of food' but apply that logic and rules to shipping and letting other people ship again
#my t#dirkhal#yes im tagging this because thats what this is about#i see the start of another stupid fucking morality-based ship war in this tag and im not here for it#dirkhal is historically considered stridercest#using stridercest as an umbrella term#it doesnt mean the -cest part has to mean incest if you dont want it to. it can absolutely mean selfcest#davedavesprite is also concidered stridercest but its much more in line with dirkhal in that its selfcest. see the logic?#but like#can yall be fucking nice to your neighbours weve been here for a long time and havent been hurting anyone#if you can come to terms with the thought of dirkhal with hal/AR CANONICALLY being a brain clone of a 13y/o dirk#when we have no actual solid evidence to prove that he ages like dirk does in his physical body#then you can learn to share a fucking tag. because nothing in stridercest mirrors actual irl criminal or harmful activity#because its playing with dolls. we're all playing with our barbies and ponies here#and the problem with all of us trying to play w/ our barbies and ponies is that some very scared people see other ppl enjoying making ponie#kiss and they start screaming and trying to take all of our toys away when they dont actually have a monopoly on any of these toys. we shar#we share. that is what we do in fandom. theres an infinite amount of ways to interpret dirkhal#if you dont apply this logic to fans who enjoy things like game of thrones then dont do it here#take a step back and breath. we're all being normal. youre being a bad guest. please learn to share again. youre not being hurt#having a reaction to art is not actually Being Hurt

Sae
When Sae walked into his apartment, it was past midnight. He's been gone all day and wasn't expecting anything when coming back home.
You both got used to his changing schedule and the time when you used to wait for him was long gone.
He never expected to see you fast asleep on the couch, a plaid on you and the TV still showing the rerun of Friends. You never really liked it but here you were, badly sitting and breaking your neck.
It didn't take him long to notice the dry tears strains on your checks and a million rushed through his brain. Yet, he'll know nothing until tomorrow. Nothing about your day, what you ate or why those tears were there in the guest place.
Taking a seat next to you, he laid his forehead against yours, not holding the released sigh in the back of his throat anymore. “I thought I'll get to kiss you tonight.”
He knows he's absent lately, a lot more than you can handle. And he's so deeply sorry to do that to you. You don't know how bad he tries to get back to just see you awake, before bed.
You don't know how bad he misses you all day and wants to spend just an evening with you. Because seeing you will always be his favorite part of the day.
Kaiser
Your relationship with Michael was complicated. Call this a situationship if you want, but it was mainly because of the press you weren't together. It would be a scandale if they found out.
What you never expected is Michael to be so jealous when it touches his co-workers. You've met some, being in the model industry, and he never made a fuss about it. Before today.
“Please, what are you mad about ?! We're doing our job !” you yelled at him, gripping your hair because sighing loudly.
Your quota had already expired for the day and he was ignoring you. That's all it takes for you to grab your jacket and start your leave.
“I thought we could have a chill night together. Watching a sappy movie, maybe kissing midway since it would've been shitty but you decided to be an asshole. Thanks.”
His silence was loud. His back was facing you and he didn't even glance in your direction. The anger was slowly replaced with sadness as you exhaled slightly to hold back your tears.
“Why are you always like this when you're my favorite, huh ?”
“I'm scared you're gonna leave me for someone else.” He confessed under his breath, you almost missed it. It made you lay your bag on the counter again before taking a few steps closer to him.
“Why would I? It's by being like this that it can happen Michael…”
“I know but I can't express it another way!” He snapped at you, aiming to push you away but you were out of reach. Instead your gaze falls in his glossy eyes, breaking your heart.
You didn't forget how mean he was, never, but you couldn't help but hold him close to you. Even if he rejected you at first.
He's hard to deal with, but deep down you know he's only hurt and scared, and that you have to help him with that.

UNEDITED
__
Your palm concealed your amused lips, a snort emanating from your wrinkled nose as you took in the sight before you.
Kambe Daisuke was a man of little words and little expressions, and even now, after being married to you for four years and having a son who was now at the age of two, that has not changed. He was still the stoic and cool detective millionaire you have met many years ago - which is exactly what makes the unfolding scene before you much more hilarious.
Monotonous Daisuke, the same man you had seen take down criminals twice his size, was haphazardly sprawled on your carpeted ground, arms and legs outstretched, cheek pressed flat against the material of the carpet as a smaller and cuter carbon copy of him perched comfortably on his back, oblivious to the position he had set his father on, doing nothing but lie down on his father's back and sleep soundly, eyes closed, snoring and wearing such an adorable sleeping face that it was difficult not to coo.
The sight alone was already adorably hilarious, but seeing the genuine distress on Daisuke's face had you doubling over, your palm muffling your laughter.
"Look at you," You whispered at him by the doorframe, your knees bent and your other hand sliding along the frame of the door. "You look so dumb, Daisuke."
"I'm happy at least you find this amusing, but I do not." Your husband responded back in an ired puff, azure eyes glaring at you from the floor. It took all of you not to swoon.
"Don't look at me like that, my love. I can't take you seriously when our son is using you as a mattress." Daisuke's glare intensified, but as your previous statement suggested, all purpose of threat was dulled by the position he was in. "How did you even get yourself in this situation?"
"I find it unnecessary to tell you." Answered Daisuke, and from how his cheeks tinged red, you could only assume it was something embarassing. "Will you help me, love? Take Kakeru off of my back."
You shifted your gaze back to your slumbering son, and a fond smile sprouted on your brims.
Sometimes you wonder how you were even able to make this precious, big eyed, nuzzling baby. He was an exact copy of Daisuke, not a single hint of your genes. Blank face, quiet, raven hair, blue eyes, the little shine in his eyes whenever he saw you - it was like seeing Daisuke when he was a child, and it was because of this fact that you were at least feeling a little bit alright with your son having no semblance with you.
"Kakeru," You whispered to your son as you stepped closer to your best boys with quiet footfalls, and he scrunched his face ay the brief interruption of your cooing voice. You stopped yourself from squishing his cute little face, and knelt down beside them. "Kake -"
Your sentence was cut off when you felt a hand under your knee. Immediately, Daisuke retracted his hand away, hurling your way a soft glare. "Watch where your knee is going."
You chuckled at his dilemma and reached down to stroke his head. "Mattresses don't talk, Daisuke."
"Normal people don't talk to mattresses." Countered Daisuke, huffing and averting his gaze away from you. You stifled your laughter as his pout grew more prominent. It might be very obvious already with how Daisuke has everything handed over to him with a single breath, but your husband absolutely hated losing in any forms ; even in your daily banter, he must always have the last word. People often mistakenly thought that you, being his darling wife that he had persistently courted for a whole year, would be exempted to this childish pettiness you consistently deny her allegations, firmly believing you were receiving the worse end of it. This man cannot forget the times you have successfully reigned victory over his own game, months or weeks, it never failed to be permanently ingrained in his mind ; and this resulted to puzzling moments which goes by a chronological sequence - a relatively normal day, an opportunity to divulge the opening you have unknowingly presented before his feet, and then comes his last word, to which he will remind you as your confused face stared back at him when his out of the blue statement has originally birthed from.
However, there was only one person who could defeat him at that, would never let him get the last word and that is your son Kakeru. As you stared at his sleeping face, you cannot help but smile as you reminiscent that particular day.
***
Haru Kato has been invited to your house to meet Kambe Kakeru. Daisuke has been mildly cross with Haru meeting his son because he was petty and said that Kakeru needed no other man than him but seeing that Daisuke has become good friends with Haru in the two years they were partners, you insisted that he meets him. It was already unfair that Haru had to wait until Kakeru was two to meet him, the first and last time he saw him being after you had given birth (Daisuke only let him have a glimpse then pushed him out of the hospital room because he doesn't want Kakeru thinking he was his father).
"Kakeru," You chided as you crouched beside your son who was hiding behind Daisuke's legs and peering at the gray haired male, eyes curious yet cautious. "Don't you want to meet Uncle Haru?"
Haru stepped closer to the three of you, bent down near Kakeru's height, and outstretched his hand for him to shake. "Hey there, Kakeru." Haru greeted with a smile.
Kakeru recoiled and hid himself further behind Daisuke, hands around his pants tightening. "Daddy," He whimpered. "Bad man."
Haru's face fell at the enunciation, and you covered your mouth to keep yourself from laughing. Daisuke stared blankly at Haru as his hand travelled behind his back to stroke Kakeru's head. "You heard my son. Get out of here, bad man." Daisuke uttered his command.
A tick mark appeared on Haru's forehead at Daisuke's vocalization and before things could escalate out of the power of your responsibility, you interjected, regaiming your proper posture and clasping your hands together. "Kakeru is just wary of Haru because this is the first time he's seeing him, no need to fight." You told them off.
"No, Haru is just naturally scary." Daisuke stated with bantering finality.
"This is coming from a man who barely smiles." Argued Haru, scowling.
"And this is coming from someone who seems to be making a living screaming at me." Countered Daisuke.
Kakeru's eyes widened at what his father had said and shot Haru a small glare, yet his stance never wavered from its hiding place. "He screams at daddy . . . " Murmured Kakeru in a thoughtful trance, and pointed at Haru, shocking all three of you. "D-Don't scream at daddy again!"
Alarm made its way to Haru's facr at the accusation. "No, I have not once yelled at your dad - "
Daisuke turned around and knelt in front of Kakeru. Daisuke stared into his son's eyes and Kakeru stared back. "Don't listen to him, Kakeru. You should never listen to him, never ever. He makes daddy get all angry when we're doing police missions together."
"O-Oi," Haru inserted, fuming. "You're the one who always makes me mad! Don't turn the child on me!"
But Kakeru was not listening to Haru, as his beloved father has told him. Kakeru nodded firmly, lips curling. "Yes, daddy." He vouched in determination.
"Daisuke, stop it." You chastised, sighing and turned to the other detective that was not using your son to his advantage. "Sorry about this, Haru. Kakeru really looks up to Daisuke so he does anything he tells him to."
Kakeru, all of a sudden, began trotting away from the three of you, leaving all of you confused. After a few minutes, Kakeru returned, a determined look on his face.
"Kakeru, sweetheart, where did you go?" You asked as you approached him. "It's rude to leave our guest hanging, you know."
"Fight bad man," You and Haru gasped in horror when your son suddenly brandished a gun to Haru, not just a toy, but a real one. His tiny hands trembled as he was not used to the weight of the metal weapon burdening his grasp, and he was still glaring at Haru. "I pew pew bad guy, mommy, like daddy do with bad guys!"
"Kakeru, where did you get that gun?" You questioned, alarmed and and genuinely frightened. You looked to your husband to assess his reaction, but much to your mortification, Daisuke looked calm as he always is, as if your son wasn't capable of hurting a person as of the moment. "Daisuke, what the hell?"
You let out a yelp when Kakeru turned to you, and in the process, turned the gun to you. "Bad word, Mommy." He scolded. "I don't like."
Daisuke drawled. "It's not a big deal."
Haru growled. "Your son has a weapon! How are you not freaking out?" He then turned to Kakeru and extended his hand. "Give me the gun, Kakeru. Give it."
But Kakeru shook his head defiantly. "No!"
Daisuke frowned at his wife and his partner. "Why are you making a big fuss about this?" He questioned. "It's unloaded and the safety is on."
At the mention of those, you and Haru felt a brief sense of relief until Haru spoke out, "Just because it's unloaded doesn't mean it's okay!"
"It's basically a toy." Retorted Daisuke.
You walked towards your husband and pulled at his ear. His face did not at all change, seemingly expecting this reaction from you. "Daisuke, where did he even get the gun? Has one of yours been just lying around his reach?" This concerned you. If your son was able to get a weapon easily, what more is your husband letting him get?
"I gave him one." Answered Daisuke.
"And why would you give our two year old a gun?" You snapped at him.
"Kakeru said he wanted to hold a gun. Just like you, I said no." Daisuke glanced over at Kakery who was watching the three of you curiously. "However - " He turned back to you, and looked away. " - he's too adorable, as you might say."
You and Haru, in unison, slapped your hands to your forehead, exasperated with Daisuke's response.
"Kakeru probably looked sad when Daisuke said no." Haru remarked. "I can't blame him to be honest."
"He's spoiling him in ways too many." You added, and removed your hand from your forehead. "Daisuke, I know you love our son and pampering him but he can't just have a gun."
"Why, mommy?" You all looked at Kakeru, and immediately understood why Daisuke was forced to give him an unloaded gun. "Not love me?"
"A-Ah," You shrieked, horrified. "The secret move!"
Haru gulps. "This boy knows a little too much about his abilities."
"Even if it doesn't have any bullets?" Daisuked asked you.
You hurtled him a glower. "Even if it doesn't have any bullets and yes, even if it has the safety lock on." You immediately added when you saw Daisuke open his mouth.
Said man huffed. "Fine. If I knew you were going to react like this, I wouldn't have done it."
You and Haru watched as Daisuke knelt down in front of your son. Kakeru stared at his father, eyes wide and admiring. Daisuke lets out a sigh and extended his palm, "Give."
Kakeru shook his head vigorously, and his face scrunched as if he was going to cry but was trying to suppress it. "Daddy no love me too?"
You waited for what Daisuke would do, but he did not move. More seconds has passed, and he was yet to move. You and Haru exchanged glances before you moved over to him, checking him out. "Daisuke, love, what - Daisuke?"
A torn man was what Daisuke coukd be called at that moment. His face was deadpanned, but being with him longer than anyone else, you were able to pick up the small difference his expression held right now.
"U-Uh, Daisuke, are you okay?" You questioned in a form of a titter, eyebrows connected. "Daisuke?"
Haru walked over to Daisuke and leaned to look at him. "A-Ah, he looks like he's suffering."
"No, no," Denied Daisuke, frown deepening as he tried not to fall for his son's adorable trap. "Daddy loves you. But mommy and I agreed that you can't have that kind of toy, Kakeru."
"But," You all drew in a breath Kakeru hugged the gun to his chest, tears prodding the corners of his eyes. "My favorite toy is this."
"But why that, baby?" You asked softly. "You have so many other toys. Why that one?" You recalled the heaping amount of toys Daisuke bought for Kakeru.
Kakeru pouted, cheeks puffing. You couldn't help but imagine little Daisuke like that. "Because Daddy gave me this." Said Kakeru. "I want to be police, like daddy."
Daisuke turned to you, the internal struggle in his eyes prominent but you shook your head at him. Your husband sighed and looked at Kakeru again. He put his hand on top his head and ruffled his hair. Kakeru closed his eyes at the affection, welcoming it and his rigid frame loosening. Kakeru opened his eyes and let out a small noise of surprise as Daisuke wiped a stray tear from his cheek.
From what you can deduce, you knew Daisuke was about to say something brilliant to your son, to teach him something valuable. But before Daisuke could even open his mouth, Haru cut him off -
"A gun doesn't make a cop, Kakeru. It's the sense of justice to do the right thing and keeping people safe does." Haru then proceeded to take out his badge and handing it to Kakeru with a large smile on his face. "You can borrow this for a while, while I'm still here. As much as I want to give it to you, I need it to do my job as a cop. But maybe in the future, you can get one of your own. You'll be just like your dad."
You were impressed by what Haru had said, but Kakeru - his eyes were wide and glittering with admiration as he stared at Haru, all fear of the bad man gone. You swear that there was light all around Haru if you're ever seeing through Kakeru's eyes. But one member of the group disliked this mild change, and it was your irritated and pouting husband.
You covered your mouth to keep yourself from laughing. Daisuke was obviously feeling jealous of Haru now that his son was ignoring him - the emotion only worsening when Kakeru took the badge from Haru and dropped the gun on the ground and stared at the shiny object, whispering, "Uwahh,"
A cloud of dread hung over Daisuke and you patted his back in comfort. "There, there, Daisuke, he's just making a friend."
"But why with Haru?" Grumbled Daisuke, sulking. "And why is he looking at him like that? I should be the only one he's looking at like that. You too, I guess."
You let out a sigh. "You're really jealous when it comes to me and Kakeru."
Haru looked proud of the achievement and improvement he had made with Kakeru, his hands over his hips. "Looks pretty cool, right?"
Kakeru nodded enthusiastically, examining the badge thoroughly. "Very cool." He murmured, and then stared at Haru intently, lips pursing. "I wanna be like Mister Haru when I grow up!"
That was the first time you have seen Daisuke speechless and the last time Haru had seen Kakeru for six months. You were certain Daisuke did not speak to Haru for about two weeks, only communicating through nods and grunts, and Haru did not know whether to feel relieved or irritated at that. Maybe a little bit of both.
But, that was the only time Daisuke did not have the last word.
Kakeru certainly has Daisuke around his little finger.
***
You reached forward and shook Kakeru awake softly. "Kakeru," You chimed, and he scrunched his face again, not wanting to be disturbed sleeping on Daisuke's back. "Wake up, baby,"
Kakeru let out a small groan, and slowly opened his eyes. A familiar pair of blue hues greeted you, the same eyes that you wake up to every morning. Kakeru let out a big yawn and rubbed his left eye with his hand, groaning out, "Mommy," He then looked down at Daisuke who was craning his head to watch his son. "And Daddy."
You smiled at him and opened your arms, hands making grabby movements towards your two year old. "Come here, baby," You cooed sweetly.
Kakeru perked up and a glimmer crossed his eyes, the same glimmer when Daisuke had seen you for the first time. You could never forget that time, and you can never find it more beautiful than seeing that in your son's eyes whenever you offer him affection. Immediately, the two year old scrambled out of Daisuke's back - Daisuke grunted as his little feet padded on his back a few times as he struggled to get to your lap and arms - and sunk in your embrace. Your eyes grew gentler as Kakeru snuggled closer to your chest, cheek rubbing on your clothing and his hands clinging to the fabric.
"Are you tired, baby?" You questioned as you stroked the back of his head, finger running over his hair.
Kakeru nodded tiredly. "Daddy played cops and robbers with me."
"Let me guess, you were the cop and he was the robber?" You commented.
"Yes, and I captured Daddy many, many times." Answered Kakeru, proud with himself.
"Oh, is that so? That's amazing, baby. You're going to be a great cop like Daddy." You then turned over to Daisuke who was now recovering from being used as a bed. He dusted himself as he sat properly on the ground in front of you. "Is that why you were under him? Because you were arrested?"
Daisuke looked away. "I think I need to teach him how to properly apprehend a criminal."
You giggled. "When he's older, Daisuke."
He faced you with a sharp twist of his face, expression determined. "He won't grow older."
You frowned. "What?"
You and Daisuke looked down to see Kakeru fighting the need to sleep, his eyes opening and closing.
"I don't . . . " Daisuke trailed off, and a trace of embarassment scrawled on his face. You rarely see your husband embarassed and so you waited for him to continue. " . . . I don't want Kakeru to grow up."
You shook your head lightly, smile broadening. "Daisuke," You whispered, and when he did not look at you, you called him again. "Love, look at me."
He did so, and with one hand, you cradled his face. "I know how you feel. I understand where you're coming from. But - " You mused. " - don't you want to see our son grow up to be a fine man? To be the person he aspires to be? To be like you?"
Daisuke stares back at you, and took a gander at Kakeru who was beginning to fall asleep. He lets out a sigh and nodded in agreement, "I guess that would be pleasant to see."
"And he'll marry a great girl." You added.
"Marry mommy," Kakeru drawled. He was forcing himself to stay awake but his eyes was not cooperating with his spirits.
Daisuke scooted closer to both of you and brushed his knuckles on Kakeru's forehead. "Marry mommy? You're going to take mommy away from me?"
Kakeru shook his head. "Marry someone like mommy," One of his hand extended and took hold of Daisuke's shirt, the other still clinging to you. Kakeru looked up at both of you, still comfortable in your lap and chest. His eyes, again, were bright. "I want family like me, and mommy, and daddy."
Warmth swathed your chest, your heart melting. You took a gander to Daisuke and saw that the expression he wore - love, care, and the promise of sacrifice when it comes to it and when he looked at you, the emotions never faltered, and they only grew stronger. Sometimes you wonder just how much Daisuke loved you and Kakeru.
"A family like the three of us." Kakeru let go of your clothing and showed three fingers of his and quickly pressed the three digits together. "A happy family."
Kakeru fell asleep after his statement. His arm dropped and his head moved to one side, his eyes closed and lips parted.
"We should tuck him in." Daisuke declared.
"Yeah," You agreed and Daisuke helped you stand up, making sure you two aren't waking your sleeping son. You moved him to his bed, setting him down the mattress gently. Daisuke took the liberty of putting the blanket over Kakeru. Your child shifted in his spot, and cuddled to his pillow.
You sat on the bed beside Kakeru, observing your son. "Already tired when the morning has just barely started." You chuckled.
"He said he needed practice to be a cop, and I couldn't say no." Daisuke inserted.
"You can never say no to Kakeru anyways." You jested.
"Same with you." Daisuke knelt down beside the bed, arms resting on the mattress and his head level with his son's. He admired Kakeru, his deadpan expression gone and a small smile on his face. He leaned forward and pressed his lips against Kakeru's cheek, lingering for a while before pulling away.
Daisuke faced you and you raised an eyebrow as he took your hand.
"You have given me a beautiful son. Thank you so much, my love."

Cassandra's POV
Soft knocks woke me up from my messy dreams. I blinked my eyes a few times getting used to the light. I sat up in bed and stretched my body looking around a little confused. Sometimes I have dreams so messed up that I forget where I really am, but within seconds, everything was fresh in my memory. Days ago, I saved a child, a boy, who was swimming in a river in the middle of the night. On the way back to his house, I found out that he is a prince, from the kingdom of Aluma, and since then, out of gratitude, I have been here, in a beautiful large and comfortable room, in the castle.
"Come in"
I got out of bed and Lady Juliette entered my room, just like every morning. I should have stayed only one day, two at the most, but the hospitality, the politeness, the ambient, the treatment of the King and Queen, the happiness of that little runaway, I couldn't refuse to stay any longer.
I smiled at Juliette, watching her open the curtains and the huge windows that looked out onto a beautiful balcony. Then she approached the bed and I stood up as she bowed slightly.
"Good morning, Lady Cassandra. did you sleep well?"
I tilted my face playfully looking at her with mock disapproval and she smiled shyly.
"Oh Juliette, I've told you that we don't need cordiality. How long have i been here? A few weeks, probably months, we're confidants, already friends and I have no title."
She's still shy and started to make my bed and I helped her with the pillows.
"I know, my la.. Cassandra.. It's the orders, I'm just a lady-in-waiting, a helper, I must respect whoever is above me."
I got closer to her after we make the bed and held one of her hands.
"I'm not above anyone else, we're equal inside and I consider you my friend and I want you to act as such, do we agree?"
When I arrived, I was a little unsure, but in front of so many good people, I had nothing to fear. And to make things better, Juliette and I got closer over time. I never had great friends, I guess I never really cared. Since from my childhood in Boudicca, to Aretuza and then to whatever path fate takes me, it's always been me and Atlas, but at the moment, I'm very happy to have someone, who really responds when I speak, at least with words, and not neighs. Juliette smiled happily and went to the bathroom to prepare my bath.
I went to the balcony, the view was just incredible, the birds sang, the sun shone and burned against my skin, on the horizon, I could see part of the Kingdom, the village, but in the distance, mountains. I took a deep breath, basking in the morning scent, eyes hooded, just concentrating on the sounds, until Juliette informed me that the bath was ready.
As soon as I walked in, she left so I could take off my nightgown. We're friends but I still don't feel good about exposing myself like that.
After a relaxing bath with warm water, rose petals and sparkling foam. I put on a robe and found a tray on my bed with my breakfast. It had fruit, bread and juice. Normally, the king and queen would like me to join them at the dinner table, but today was different.
"The kitchen is quite busy, the king is having an old friend today. He is very excited, asked them to prepare the best dishes."
A couple of days ago, I heard some buzz in the hallways. A friend of the king was coming to visit him and it seemed he was creating a commotion around the servants. Maybe it's my imagination, but the ladies looked as fervent as a pan of boiling oil. At a dinner, the king said he would love to introduce me to one of his great friends, I just nodded.
That same night, the queen visited me in my room with a woman. A middle-aged seamstress, a few strands of gray, the queen said she was one of her favorite seamstresses and the most sought after in the kingdom and among her royal friends. She asked the woman and me to talk, and agree on nice clothes for me. I had been wearing dresses loaned to the queen for a while and she knew I didn't feel very comfortable so she contacted her seamstress.
Since today is a big day for the king, I had several options above my bed, my hair was already done with a simple braid. Time passed and I couldn't make up my mind. Juliette was nervous about my lateness, soon the king's friend would be there. For some reason, I felt more indecisive than ever, I almost didn't recognize myself.
But after so much choosing, he manages to make a decision. I looked in the mirror, admiring my necklace and my dress.
"Not that bad"
I walked downstairs with Juliette behind me on our way to the throne room. Madeline played with her son's blond strands while King Alexander chatted with some guards. The castle was cheerful, everyone seemed to want to give the guest the best reception.
As soon as she was seen by little Eric, he smiled and ran to me. I bent down a little and we hugged. Eric and I have bonded, he's an amazing kid with a thirst for adventure.
"Oh dear, look at you"
The queen approached me, looking me up and down and smiling as if I were blood of her blood. Her cheerful voice caught the attention of her husband, who approached, he took my hand and twirled me around making me feel a little shy.
"Cassandra, with all due respect, you look beautiful today."
Madeline and Juliette both chuckled softly at my blush, which also made the queen elbow her husband lightly, scolding him playfully.
Noises echoed in the distance, some voices, horses and carriages
The big door opened, one of the servants reported that the duke had arrived. The king released him, taking his queen's hand on his arm and inviting me to meet his friend at the castle entrance. I walked behind the royal couple with the little prince beside me, chattering about something I didn't hear, my hands sweating with every step I took.
When we arrived at the entrance, I could see two carriages. One loaded with suitcases, so I assumed the guest was in the other. The door of the second carriage opened and a man was the first to exit and suddenly, it was like everything had frozen around me.
The birds stopped singing, the wind got warmer, the sun didn't burn my skin, which was now chilled, my feet felt numb and my heart didn't slosh with blood. A brief deja vu flooded my mind, the memory of my imagination, every detail I imagined came alive and was right in front of me.
Tall man, defined body, strong, noble, fair skin, blue eyes.. like the sky in a spring morning, dark short hair like the night, lips that held perfect white tooth.. I am dreaming or..?
"Charles"
The king shouted happy. The handsome man bowed to the king but quickly the two of them ignored the formalities and embraced.
"How long?"
Charles. It's a good name. And his voice.. only two words left his mouth but that sound, it was like i heard a fire, hot, warming my frozen heart... but with some air of danger, like an unexpected fire that leaves you anchored. He complimented the queen and her son then took back his attention to the king that respectfully, put his hand on my back, approaching me to your friend.
"Charles, I want you to meet someone."
Alexander talked and Charles approached, finally he noticing me and our eyes crossed.
"That's Cassandra of Boudicca, the sorceress."
Charles eyes got wided while showed his beautiful smile, he delicately held my hand and softy pecked my knuckles without taking his eyes from my face.
"My lady."
He said directly at me and I could feel the air leaving my lungs.
"I am Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk"
I bent slightly, still looking at the being that came from my dreams.
"Wow daddy, she has purple eyes"
My body woke up to reality with a sweet childish voice. I looked down and beside Charles, there was a little girl, blue and curious eyes just like her father..
Wait a minute? Father? Did she really say.. daddy?
"Yes darlin, but it's not polite to look at people like that and point."
A beautiful young woman exits the carriage and stands beside Charles and the little girl, bowing towards the King and Queen.
"I've never met a sorceress before. It's a pleasure to meet you, Cassandra, and I'm sorry for my little curious daughter behavior"
Daughter..? So she and Charles..?
"I am Phoebe, Duchess of Suffolk, Charles wife and MacKenzie's mother."
Yes, they are..
A few seconds ago, I found myself in some kind of.. dream? and now, it felt like the beginning of a nightmare. It's actually quite real, just like the shiny ring on her finger.
Charles Brandon POV
As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by the king and his wife, and their little son. I greeted them, I missed them, Aluma, the castle, the memories at each place.
After the greetings, Alexander wanted to introduce me to someone I hadn't noticed at first. A beautiful woman, with a gorgeous dress, braid hair, her aura was mysterious, especially with those bright lavender color eyes, her expression looked frozen. I was able to confirm that that wasn't just what was cold, as soon as I touched her delicate hand, I felt her fingers tremble, her palm was sweaty.
I cordially kissed her knuckles with my eyes still locked on her colorful eyes, I never saw something so pretty, so magical. Magic could be the right word to describe her, after all, she is a sorceress.
"This wonderful young lady saved our Eric."
Madeline said and my cheeks burned instantly. Charles laughed and ruffled the boy's hair.
"Still getting in trouble, Eric? You need to stop running away."
The king and I had a brief conversation, until Alexander invited us inside. We both decided to go riding, to remember the old days in battle. So I went up to mine and Phoebe's room to get ready as soon as the servants told us the bags were already there. We went upstairs and left Mackenzie and Eric running together.
Cassandra's POV
As soon as the King and Charles were getting ready to ride, I excused myself from the Queen and went to my room, without running, but walking as fast as I could.
I walked into my room and slammed the door, then leaning my back against it and laying my head back as my breathing was uneven.
How was someone I imagined, now, here? Face to face. There are many people with these features, but everything about it seemed so perfect, like when it turns a short story into a play, bringing people and events to life. He was a dream, but a dream I couldn't dream.
I jumped in fright feeling them knock on the door. I took a few deep breaths, trying not to look crazy, tried to look decent and slowly opened the door to find one of the servants.
"Yes?"
"My lady Cassandra. Your Majesty requests your presence in the stables. He would like you to join him and the duke to ride."
Oh great.. I don't think it would be polite to deny it so I nodded my head smiling a little uncomfortably.
"Tell him I'll be there in a few"
The servant bowed and left. I closed the door again and ran my hands through my face.
I'm not feeling myself anymore, feels like this man has awakened something in me, something difficult to control and I think I'll have to learn because I can't seem to get away from him and these confused sensations.

Chapter 9: Love Vs Rage
Chapter 10: A lovely Bond
My hand clasped over my mouth at the words I had spoken, I didn't mean for it to come out. It was as if on instinct, but Thorin didn't seem to mind, he didn't take his eyes off me. And for the first time since the beginning of this trip, I saw love and adoration in those ocean blue orbs. His cheeks turned light pink at my comment, slowly he stood his chest almost against mine.
"You love me?" He muttered, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. "How can you love me amralime?" It was him, the same rough voice from earlier, he is the one who called me that.
"I don't know, but when I'm around you, your who my heart belongs to. It's why I left because I thought my feelings were getting in the way. I thought love was getting in the way but it was rage, I can't blame you no matter how much I want to. And I admire your bravery and courage, but throughout this quest, each piece of my heart had attached itself to you. Maybe it was your leadership or your kind words, or maybe it was something entirely different but I'm positive about one thing Myis Ravos (My raven), I love you. And...I forgive you." Tears rolled down his cheeks as he held in a sob the best he could but failed. His strong arms wrapped around me and he nuzzled his face into my neck.
"I love you too...Promise you won't leave again, promise me that we'll stay together no matter how hard this journey gets. Cause losing you just for a few hours broke me, I didn't want to move. I didn't want to do anything without you by my side." My hands slid up his back, but before I could enjoy the warm hug from him I felt his wound.
"I will if you promise to let me treat your injuries." He chucked but groaned as it hurt his chest, I helped him sit back down. The rag in my hand ran over his skin again, wiping away the blood and dirt from the surface. "Promise me you won't be so reckless, I don't know what I would do if I lost you." He grabbed my hand and kissed my knuckles lightly.
"Same goes for you." I couldn't help but smile, I didn't feel angry anymore. I felt loved and happy, I haven't felt like this in a long time. I kept cleaning the blood off, and when I was finished I took a step back to see if I missed anything.
"Alright, get into the bath I'll bring some lathers." As he begins to undress I rummaged through the basket of pink and purple bars, none was a manly type of smell but I highly doubt he would mind. "I have lavender, and cherry but beware both will make you smell like a woman." He laughed and turned around in the pool, the ends of his hair were now wet. I had this weird feeling to get in there with him, my legs rubbed together in excitement. Quickly I dismissed the thought and handed him the soaps but before I turned away he clutched my arm.
"Join me, for I am not able to flex my body like I'm used to. I believe I acquire assistance, I might just miss a spot." His fingers reach to the hem of my shirt, slowly undoing the ribbon tying it together.
"You've been bathing yourself for many years Thorin, I think you can handle this on your own." I didn't stop him from sliding my shirt down my shoulders, nor when he started to undo my bindings.
"I won't look if that's what you worried about, I trust my men but they sometimes can't help but let their eyes wander. I don't want them to see you bare." His touch leaves me, and he looks away so I'd be more open to the idea of joining him. He did have a point, I care for these dwarves but sometimes urges can take over. I shed the rest of my clothes, letting them join his that remained on the stone. He tensed up for a second as he felt the water move, he knew I was in now. "Lavender?" He held out the bar of soap, which I gladly took from him. His breathing became more rapid, he was nervous for I was too close.
"Nervous my king?" I said sarcastically as I ran the soap over his back, he leaned into my touch like it was heavenly.
"A little, I've never been in the presence of such a beautiful woman." He glanced back at me for a moment before turning forward again, he really wanted to look. "The things I said before, I didn't mean them, I meant something entirely different. At first, I was just being rude, but over time I fell for you. When I called you weak and a burden, I wanted you to go home for I do not wish to see you hurt. And when I called you a whore, it was because I was jealous of the stares the rest were giving you." Elrond was right, this entire time he loved me, but what about what he said at the bridge? Is this all just a plan to make me help him?
"And what about the bridge, when you were talking to Dwalin?"
"I knew you heard, at the moment I was trying to push you away. I too was afraid of what my feelings would bring, but when I noticed the rest started to be protective of you I realized they had accepted you as one of their own. I truly do love you, Uslukhuê kurdu, (Dragon of my heart). And I do not wish to push away my feelings any longer. If I may ask, will you let me court you?" I smiled at his offer, now that I think about it he was the one who courted me. The one who gave me more food in my bowl than the others.
"I believe you've already had, but I accept your offer Thorin." He sighed in relief, but something else remained on his mind.
"May I turn around? There is something I wish to do." I hummed in response and slowly he faced me, he leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to my lips which I returned. "You are mine amralime, and no one can take you from me."
~♪♠♪~
After we cleaned up, I made sure that Thorin had a new pair of clothes that was stowed away in one of the chests after I bandaged his torso. The rest took their pick of the pile, and what surprised me was that they enjoyed the design upon the cloth.
"Y/n," Thorin called with a brush and a small silver bead in hand. He sat down next to me on a stool with his legs spread apart. Without another word, I sat between them, and he began to brush my hair softly. "This is the reason we dwarves keep our hair long, so our lover can braid it. It's a symbol showing that we're taken, and I'm glad I get to share it with you. What about you? What are your counting rituals?"
"We don't have much, it's normal human ways of courting. Gifting each other with flowers and chocolates, the only different thing is the wedding. When two of my kin want to marry, they need to get permission from either the King or Queen. We may have a huge kingdom but we treat it like a small town. If they receive permission then a wedding is planned, the entire kingdom will be there to see it. You'll have your party where you mingle with guests before you do the private ceremony of the night." He brushed my hair back towards him while running his fingers through it, I leaned back slightly enjoying the sensation.
"What is the private ceremony?"
"The private ceremony seems like nonsense, but it's very important. If the two wish to go through with it, they will have a bowl of paint infused with the blood of a royal. You need the blood of a royal to make it work, but each one will paint its markings on the other. It's a private ceremony because both of the two are going to be bare when this happens, after the painting is in place they will make a promise and the paint is now infused with their skin." Setting down the brush he grabbed a lock of my hair and started to braid it, he seemed focused like it was a masterpiece.
"What happens if they break that promise?"
"It depends on the situation, if one chooses to break their promise on purpose, the one who broke the promise is not allowed to marry again. For the marking burns into their skin, that way each digonisk knows that they are not to be intimate with anyone ever again. The other who remained faithful are allowed to remarry, for the symbols will disappear. However if one breaks it by accident, say a life or death situation and it is proven to be true there is a spell that the royal can cast to remove them." I looked up at him for a second, a smirk on my face as he looks down at me in slight horror.
"Still wish for me to be yours?" That look of fear was wiped off instantly, he kissed my forehead and tilted my head back up so he could finish his braid.
"That is one way to keep someone loyal, maybe my kin should have something like that. Although yes, I wish to still be with you, until death does us part." He holds out the braid he finished. "Hold it for me." I carefully grabbed the end with my fingers as he goes to braid another lock on the other side.
"What kind of braid is this?"
"Well you have to defeat Smaug, so this braid will help you keep your hair out of your face."
"Is it true that once your hair is braided you can never take it out again?"
"Only your other can take it out and fix it, if you do it yourself it shows you do not care about the courtship. Which once I'm done, you will braid my hair as the process states."
"And I can braid it in any way I want?" A mischievous smile came across my features, which he chuckled for he knew what I was doing.
"Anyway, you want." He grabs the braid that rested between my fingers and intertwined the two together.
"Interesting, perhaps I'll braid it in front of your face to give you a longer beard."
"If I die because of my inability to see I blame you." He clipped my hair with the bead and kissed my temple while wrapping his arms around me. "Who knew you were such a prankster, I think my nephews are a bad influence for you."
"Oh please you haven't seen anything yet, back in the kingdom of Larthas I was constantly scolded by my parents for always leaving presents for the maids. One time, I put a bucket of mud on the top of her door, and let's just say she wasn't happy. It took her hours to get the mud out of her hair." He laughed as we switched places, his hand stroked my leg gently. I summoned an ethereal bead making it into a solid object, on it there lied a dragon symbol.
"So what braid are you thinking of?" I wanted it to be special, something that showed it could only be made by me.
"Choose a color."
"Red (Or whatever color you prefer)." I conjured a red ribbon and began to braid his hair. (I'll leave that up to you guys, but I would do something like this.)

Everyone's jaws dropped at my handiwork, especially Thorin, the moment he got up and looked in the mirror his heart stopped.
"How on earth did you manage to do that?" His eyes lit up with excitement but I could feel the jealousy radiating off of him. He traced the design, he almost couldn't stop staring at it. "Never mind that, come back over here I'll show what I can really do with that h/c hair of yours."

"Is this a some sort of punishment?"
"You're really lucky... I am quite jealous, if I may say."
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
With the noisy, yellow demon unconscious, the only sound on their way to House of Lamentation is MC's periodic yawns from the lack of night's sleep and the rumbling wheels of their suitcase on an empty road.
"We're here! Come on, I'll introduce you to everyone. They should be in the dining room right now." Starting to feel the exhaustion she's been holding back since meeting the other-worldly creatures, Alexandria let her sister half-drag her off to somewhere.
"I'm home!" Pulling her to a room, the first thing she saw is a large dining table filled with food and... Five more demons. Five male demons.
"MC, we're leaving." She tugged on the female's hand, still attached on her own, but in turn resisted her slight force.
"What? No, we won't." The teen raised an eyebrow from her sudden demeanor.
"MC!! I MISS YOU!!" A brown-haired guy came rushing towards their direction with open arms. Yet, before he could even latch his arms around the girl, Alexandria pulled her away, causing the male to hug nothing but air.
"MC! Why did you avoid— Huh?"
"MC, w–who is she?" A purple-haired tensely asked, anxious of the stranger in their home.
"She's my sister—"
"Ahhh!!" Alexandria and MC flinched from the sudden outburst of the man who came running at them moments ago, which caught her off-guard.
Suddenly, her hand was yanked away from her little sister's grasp and was held a few centimeters to the demon's eyes.
"Wha... such a..." He then stretched the said arm out and tenderly stroke it up her shoulder, "What a flawless, plump, porcelain skin..." then let go and cupped her cheeks with both hands.
"Such a refined beauty. But wait..." The male narrowed his eyes for a second, "Are you not sleeping well? Your face is a tee~ny bit dry and a bit of bag under your eyes." The demon gave her a sad pout.
"I usually appreciate such flattery. However, right now, I can only sense it as an assault from a stranger I just met. So will you please refrain from your harassment?" Regaining her composure, she snapped at him.
"Asmodeus, stop harassing our guest unless you wanted punishment." Asmodeus instantly raised both his hands up from the domineering voice on the doorway. Lucifer appeared with a beat Mammon.
"Whoopsy! My bad. What a rude way to greet a wonderful guest such as yourself." Asmodeus sends her a wink before returning to his seat.
"MC, will you introduce her to everyone."
"Hmm! Everyone, meet my sister, Alexa! Due to certain circumstances, she'll be staying here with us all throughout my stay here."
"Pleased to meet all of you. I'm Alexandria Evergreen, MC's older sister. I'm here to watch over her. I hope to have a conflict-free relationship with everyone."
"No, the pleasure is ours." A blonde-haired man replied, "I'm Satan, the fourth eldest. I maybe the Avatar of Wrath but I assure you, I'm the nicest and most logical person here." But her instinct says otherwise as she felt an odd atmosphere around the green-eyed man.
"Bush e'shi, shoo shais shoo hamp 'o shibi." Her eyes travelled to the oranged-haired man who seemed to be emptying the table stuffing himself.
"Beel, you shouldn't talk while chewing." A drowsy, navy blue-haired guy yawns beside him. "MC, he means you said you have no siblings." He rubbed his eyes before turning his attention to the older sister. "Hello, I'm Belphegor, Beelzebub's twin and the youngest. I'm also the Avatar of Sloth. This guy beside me is Beelzebub, the Avatar of Gluttony and the sixth oldest." The scarfing guy nods and she returned the gesture.
"Oh that? Yes, I don't have one back then, but our parents got married a few weeks ago. We're originally childhood friends."
"WoOAAAHH~!! That's just like the anime 'My Dearest Childhood Friend became my Sister after our Parents got Married but now the Aliens Invaded the Earth so We Became Heroes and Stop the End of the World!!' and that is really LIT!!" The demon, whom she thought was timid a while ago, squealed in one breathe, and it certainly caught her by surprise.
"That noisy one is Levi." MC sweatdropped.
"I'm Leviathan, the third oldest and the Avatar of Envy."
"And don't forget about the sweet and charming Asmodeus here~~ I'm the fifth eldest and the Avatar of Lust. You can call me Asmo-chan~~" he winked for the second time.
Yet contrary to his positive attitude, Alexandria cocked an eyebrow. "So you mean..." Her gaze followed Mammon wobbling to the table. "That crook right there is the second oldest?"
His head snapped at her. "Oi! Gotta problem if I'm the second oldest?"
"Yeah, in more ways than one." She curtly replied. "So, if you're the Avatar of Greed, you being a crook does make sense."
"Oi! You don't have to say it twice!"
Ignoring Mammon, she faced the oldest. "And you're the Avatar of Pride, I suppose?"
"Yes, and let me properly introduce myself to you." He placed a palm above his chest. "I'm Lucifer, the oldest of the seven brothers and the Avatar of Pride. I'm the one who leads this household and tend to all of these problem children." Satan, Mammon and Belphegor glared daggers towards him.
"Ha! More importantly, I have a juicy piece of news to you guys." Mammon grinned which alerted Lucifer.
"Not a word Mammon."
"'Ya see, that's no normal human right there. A few hours ago, she just made THE Lucifer on his knees and tied him in a pact with her."
The five brothers' eyes popped out of their skulls and jaws dropped. Even Beel almost choked.
"Pact... you say?" 5 pairs of eyes darted between a grinning Mammon, a displeased Lucifer and the new female.
"You're right. She's not an ordinary human but let me clear two things." The menacing red-eyed demon crossed his arms and raised his chin. "The only one on his knees, or rather, on his back is none other than you Mammon. You're the one knocked out after just three blows from her. You're also the one who caused this series of unfortunate events... Don't ever think I'm done with your punishment yet."
"Eek!" Making shrieked and cowered in fear.
"Wait– She what? I know Mammon is weak but, she really knock him out with three blows??" Asmodeus exclaimed.
"Are you really sure she's a human?" Satan added.
Although Beelzebub is also shocked, his brows twitched in realization, glancing at the two female. "MC, Miss Alexandria, you probably haven't eaten anything yet. You should eat."
"I think I'll pass. I'll get some shut-eye first." MC awkwardly laughed. Beel is pretty amazing in his own way...
"I thank you for the offer, but I also needed some rest." She slightly smiled.
Lucifer stepped closer beside her. "If that's the case, then you should stay in MC's room for now. Mammon will clean the room beside MC's for your use later."
Glancing at the oldest, she shook her head. "Providing a room for me is more than enough. I can tend to it just fine. And I can't impose to you anymore than I already did."
"But you're a guest. It's only natural for us to ensure you'll have a great time staying here."
"But I insist. And I'm not a guest. I'm the one who made my way here so it's only natural for me to help here in exchange for my stay." She paused as she crossed her arms. "Unless, freeloading is a thing here. That'll be bad, for encouraging irresponsibility and decadence."
"..." Lucifer speechlessly furrowed his brows.
Seven pairs of eyes were both shocked and amazed to see someone actually have the guts to run their mouth against one of the strongest demon in their realm without breaking a sweat.
"She really is not a human. There's no way a human can stand her ground against Lucifer." Asmodeus gaped.
"Or maybe she's just clueless of Lucifer's true power... Though I could use her help to mess with him." Belphegor and Satan snickers at the same time as if having the very same thought.
"To not even have the natural instinct to flee from danger is just dumb." Alexandria ominously glance towards Belphegor, Satan and Leviathan, causing a chill run down their spine.
"Then please excuse us. MC shall be my guide." Drawing back, she bowed towards Lucifer and the others before pulling MC and their luggage out of the dining room.
"MC... I must say, our time here will be anything but harmonious..." The older sister sighed.
"But I'm sure you'll have fun. There's no boring times here" MC just laughed awkwardly.
"Oh well, all I want is a peaceful time you. Even an hour or two a day would be nice."
-----
Forget their peaceful time, getting along with most of the brothers is hard, except Beel who is too nice to her to be considered a bother. All the other brothers do was try to steal MC away.
Well, Asmodeus is an exception. He's not trying to take MC away. He's trying take both of them away for his beauty and night out shenanigans.
A few days have passed, and she was also made into a student to be with MC as much as possible.
"Hey Alexa-chan, I'm just wondering... Is there anything you can't do? At this rate you'll end up stealing MC's heart faster than any of us. You're too dreamy, you might as well take her as your bride." Asmodeus pouts as he lazily pokes through his steak Alexandria prepared for dinner.
"O–Oi! The hell are you saying, Asmo?" A flustered Mammon yelled, sitting beside MC.
The older female sighed and glance at Asmodeus, sitting beside her. "Just eat Asmodeus, you're just hungry. And I told you to not call me Alexa."
"But aren't I right? You're so in love with her enough to follow her here. And you're not really her sister by blood, so it's possible."
"If I told you, you and Mammon look good together, you should marry each other, what would you feel?"
"Eww! That's the grossest thing I ever heard." He stuck his tongue out in disgust.
"She really hates you, lololol." Levi snickers at Mammon, sitting across him.
Mammon narrowed his eyes at him, tapping his knife on his plate.
"I never saw this child that way. I'm more like a mother to her more than anything." She points to the 'child' next to her, too busy stuffing her face with the food to notice she is the topic on the table. "Saying that, I didn't protect that child just to fall for any demon."
"Aww... And I thought it'll also be interesting if there's that kind of plot twist." Asmodeus look down, only to find his plate empty. "Hey! Beel, give me back my steak!" His eyes darts across him, towards the orange demon chewing happily.
"I thought you don't want it anymore so I ate it." He smiled innocently as Belphegor and Satan laughed in amusement, witnessing the whole theft.
Alexandria glance around the room, searching for a certain person she haven't seen since yesterday night. "By the way, where's Lucifer?"
"He's probably still in his study, it's the time of the month he have tons of work to do." Satan replied.
"He'll probably coop himself until tomorrow or the day after." Belphegor added, finishing his meal.
She gave a second glance in the table, void of any trace of any food left, sweeping to the also empty plate of her sister.
"Hmm... MC did you eat well?"
"Yes! I really missed your steak!" The teen beamed at her, having a drop of sauce on her lips.
"What am I gonna do with you." She giggled as she wipe the stain off. "Come on, you should rest for the night."
After sending her to her room, Alexandria strolls towards the kitchen and left with a tray on hand, walking towards the library.
She passed by the tall shelfs with several missing books of all sorts of fields. Going further in, she knocked on the door inside the library.
"It's Alexandria, I brought you something." Hearing no response, she let herself in.
The first thing that attract her eyes is the tall pile of paper wall on the table and the male who is almost hidden by it, black circles around his eyes.
"Are you still alive?" Lucifer's flipped towards her, finally noticing her presence.
"Ohh, it's you. What do you want?"
"You probably haven't eaten anything since this morning. I brought you some sandwiches and fruit shake." She set the tray down the small table in the middle of the room and took the plate of sandwiches and the large cup of fruit shake, moving towards Lucifer's study table.
"Here, taking a breather won't hurt." Red orbs darted between the plate, the cup and her face before reluctantly taking it after a sigh and setting it down the free space is the table.
"This is a nice study. It's cozier than mine back in human world."
"What's your deal?"
"Well, I like the fireplace. I can't have one in my apartment."
"If you need nothing, then leave. I don't have time to waste."
"Yeah, I need to do something." She took a few leaves of paper from the desk and scan through it. "Hmm... I see... As expected..."
"What is it you need to do?" Lucifer raised his eyebrow.
"I'll help you with this papers. With us two, we can finish it by morning."
"Hmmp! There's no way I'll let a human mess with the financial statements of the Devildom."
"If it's about the difference of terms and flow of currency, then I have already studied about it."
"...Huh? How..." The demon suddenly remembered the several books missing from the library's shelf. "Ahh... But then, how did you learn how to read our language?" His brows furrowed.
"There's no way I could have extensive knowledge about pacts and such if I can't read the original texts about it."
The lady in front of him never failed to impress him. And yet, "The answer is still a no." Stoic expression returned his face.
"Then let me rephrase it. My master is having a hard time," Lucifer almost slip out of his chair from her words. "...and I can do something about it, so I want help however I can."
"Did you just say 'Master'?"
"Yeah, based on our contract, you're technically my master. Though you can't take advantage of me, which is a good thing..."
Lucifer wouldn't admit it. He can't admit it. But being called master by this capable human who always amaze him has stroked his ego more than he could ever felt from anyone, he can't even stop himself from grinning.
"You really know your way with words. But don't get me wrong. I only allowed you because you've went so far just to do what you want." A smile was also plastered on her face.
"Yes Master Lucifer, if you say so." She chuckled a bit before taking the papers Lucifer choose for her to do.
Sharing a few conversation while working, they really did finish by morning as she predicted.
------
"Alexa, why aren't you in your room? Did you woke up early?"
"Yeah, something like that." With a bit of sleepiness clouding her head, Alexandria chose to eat light breakfast before taking a rest. Good thing it's weekend.
MC moved her attention at the demon on the end of the table. "Lucifer, it's really unusual. You've finished quite early."
"I just discovered a breather had been rather helpful." He stealthly stole a quick glance towards the lady busy eating her food.
The only sound on the table after that is a few yawns— from the usual sleepy Belphegor; and Leviathan and Mammon, probably from overnight gaming marathon they could never finish tonight as Lucifer is out of his confinement.
Everyone has their own world when Alexandria breaks the silence.
"MC, you told me you're hanging out with Mammon and Asmodeus today, right?" She place down her utensils as the girl glance at her.
"Yeah, we're going to shop some clothes on Majolish. Why? You're coming anyways, aren't you?"
"No. I have some business today, but I'll leave you to Beel. Is it alright with you Beel?" She scan the face of the food-loving demon whom just finished his food.
"I don't mind." He smiled softly.
"Thank you. Please do bring her safe and I'll treat you to Madam Scream's of anything you want."
"Madam Scream's...? Really? With anything I want?" Beel's eyes sparkles as drool pools down his empty plate.
She gave him a broad smile. "Yes, anything."
"Alexa, you probably don't know what you're saying. Beel will definitely bust your pocket in no time." Belphegor yawns as he took a bite on his toast.
"But I'm aware of Beel's appetite. Let's just say I'm loaded enough to feed 10 Beels for at least 1 month." She swiped a black card in air with her middle and index finger.
"Hey... Is that..." Satan raised an eyebrow.
"WOAHH!! The legendary black card! Imagine how many Ruri-chan collectibles and games I could buy with that." Sleepiness flushes out of Leviathan's system as he stared at the black card.
"Can feed... 10 Beels..." The sixth-born's drool intensifies.
"Hmm? When did you get one? You should've just asked me to process it for you." A surprised but rather unfazed Lucifer asked.
"I told you I don't want to be a bother. Though I admit getting one is not an easy task."
"Hey Alexa-chan. Are you sure you don't wanna join us shopping?" The fourth-born playfully twist her bangs around his fingers. "And while we're at it, let's have a full body Super Beauty Mud Course~"
She touched her chin in thought. "I'll think about the mud course, but not today."
But then, a demon, who should be hyper at the sight of a premium item, was rather silent.
"Hey Alexa-sama... Can I touch it?" The second-born teleports beside her, orbs sparkles gold and fingers twitching on air in a perverse way. "Please. It'll be a dream come true to hold it in my arms for even just a second."
"I refuse." She slid it back her wallet as fast as she swiped it out. "Show me first that I could trust you." She pinched the tan nose facing her, grinning.
Cherry red orbs observes the sight of the lively table, a curve tenderly forms across his face.
"O-Oi! Let go–" *Ring ring*
The sound of a phone rung through the spirited atmosphere, which wiped the smile off Alexandria's face.
Picking up the cup of tea with her free hand, she gulp it down before letting go of Mammon.
"Take care while shopping later, MC." She ruffled her sister's hair, "Thank you for the meal. Now, if you'll excuse me." ...before leaving the room.
"Then, I'll also retire for today and take a rest. Don't make a mess while I do so." Feeling tired of his restless shift, Lucifer decided to leave and retire to his room.
On his way, he heard the familiar voice of the lady behind her door, seemingly distressed.
As unethical as it seems, the oldest's curiosity of the enigmatic female wins him over and decided to stood his ground.
"I told you Father, I can't right now, that's why I'm telling you to just let me quit...... If I tell you, you'll definitely try to take me back there....... No...... Not telling......."
He could hear the series of loud sighs and frustration beyond the door.
"No, I don't want it. Brother deserves the company more than I do. So please think it over again.... Yes....... Yes, I will. Then, bye." He then heard a beep ending the call.
On the verge of stepping away as to not get caught, the next thing he heard render him motionless in place.
"I'm not even a your real child to begin with. If I continue there, I'll actually end up killing myself..." Unconsciously, he turned the knob and pushed the door open.
Alexandria jolts in surprise as her door opened out of nowhere.
"Wha..." Surprise was imminent on her face yet, realizing it is the first-born, her brows scrunches. "Don't you know knocking is a common courtesy?"
"What do you mean by you not being your father's real child? And what do you mean about killing yourself?" He ignores the annoyed expression of the woman. There's no way he could let this information pass under his nose. Not with this girl who made him concede more than he expected, and certainly not because of that grim words.
"What do you want?" She narrowed her eyes in annoyance.
"Killing yourself is something I could not ignore. And, I want to know more about the human who have the audacity to force a pact with me." He returned the same gaze with crossed arms above his chest. They stared at each other for a few seconds before the lady yield for the first time.
"Alright. I guess as a demon who have a pact with me, you have the right to know. We are, after all, connected by soul in spite of everything... Let's go to your office or something. I don't want anyone to hear this like you did."
"Right now, Satan is probably cooped in the library. He'll certainly asked why we're together. Let's go to my room instead. It's quite spacious for someone to eavesdrop."
She followed behind the oldest brother, careful not to be seen by anyone. Entering the room without meeting anyone down the hallway gave her a sense of relief.
"Even your room is nice." She casually strolls in the room, brushing her fingertips on the bones in the pillar, the candelabra, the gramophone, and scanning a few picture frames above the fireplace.
"You may want to start your story this instant or I'll pull the words out of you by force." Growing impatient, Lucifer took a sit at an angle on the corner of his bed, arms drapes his chest again.
With another sigh, she sat on the length of the bed partially behind the man, placing both her palms on the bed as she face the furnace.
"Too eager, aren't we?"
"Unlike you, I want to take a rest." Alexandria chuckled of his remark.
"It's true I'm not a real child of the current family I'm in. I am adopted after all." Her Aquamarine eyes glows a hue of orange as she stare at the dancing fire in the furnace. "It's no secret to MC. I did met her in an orphanage after all.."
"She's a volunteer that time when we're still young. Is that good enough? Am I off the hook already?"
"No. That doesn't answer my second question. You're still hiding... something." The strained smile he witnessed on her face almost made him regret continuing his statement.
"Is this a some sort of punishment?" A self-reproachful laughter rings the room, "You're good with picking your card if it is."
"You can say that. But I'm also curious of you."
"Yeah, yeah... But it'll be a long story. Is it alright with you?"
"I have the whole day available. And you?"
"I also have nothing to do. I just gave MC a sister-free day or she'll get tired of me."
"Then, continue your story." He moves facing the same fireplace.
"Ahh, right... If I remember correctly, the Great Celestial War... It's a conflict within your family, right?"
Lucir flinched from the sudden question. "...Why did you ask?"
"I just thought we may have the same sentiment... or maybe not."
"..."
"Anyways, MC knew nothing about what I'm going to tell you, so it's our secret, okay?" She waited for his reply before continuing.
"You see, I also have a big family. I'm the oldest with my six, adorable siblings. They're 3 set of twins. Amazing, right?" She smiled at him, softly.
"We're living a normal, happy life. I'm really satisfied with our big family I feel it to last forever... Or so I thought." The softness in her face disappeared into a grimace. Colors in her eyes disappeared as she travel back to time.
"I was 9 at that time when that night happened. It was freezing I couldn't feel my fingertips. Snow was falling hard when I witness everything."
"Unlike that fire, the place was rather cold and dark. My struggling brother's neck in his bare hands, my limp and beaten mother trying to pry him away from my brother, the bloody corpses of my 3 sisters, my 2 other brothers writhing in pain... and that sickening smile on my father's face." She spat, grabbing Lucifer's comforter with her fist. Lucifer watched the scorching flame reflected in her eyes as if it's her own.
"There's no way I could ever forgive him for what he have done..." She rid of her shoes and hugged her legs, facing Lucifer as she lay her cheeks on her knees. "Like how I could never forgive myself for what happened."
"Forgive yourself? That's a foolish way to put it. You didn't do anything wrong."
Bluish orbs draw itself towards his own as she gave him a bitter smile. "You can say that because you don't know everything."
"Then tell me what I don't know."
"Let's just say that a drive to protect MC and a drive to live are two different things. And I've been searching for the latter to no avail."
"You're really lucky to still have your brothers. I am quite jealous if I may say." She wore her shoes again and amble her way to the entryway. "It seems like this is as far as I could tell you right now. Maybe I'll continue it next time. If you'll excuse me." She bowed before closing the door.
In contrast, Lucifer couldn't utter another word. Perhaps it's because of the pact above his chest which connects them, but he felt his heart ache slowly since she started telling her story.
And right now, he feels an unbearable pain. An unbearable pain as if he's reliving his own scars.
He stared at the same scorching fire, and as though imitating her, he tried imagining the grief he have felt of losing someone dear.
"...lucky, huh... I guess I really am..." Clutching the fabric above his chest, he felt a pang of guilt from his curiosity.
If anyone asks if I hate Mammon for bullying him here too much— the answer's no. In fact, he's my # 2 (sometimes # 1 coz Luci). I really love him and his dorkiness! But he's just so adorable when he's flustered that I end up picking on him a bit too much (maybe that's also the reason why I love Luci and he's my first if not because of my occasional Mammon hype).
Anyways, it's a good thing I posted it now. I've been proofreading it for the umpteenth time cause I don't have any friends to ask nor share sentiments with the Obey Me Fandom (sad life of an otaku). I have many revisions but I'm quite satisfied with how it turns out again. UwU
And I didn't even noticed it's already 3 a.m. so I'm gonna peace out now~~

Buying time
Previously. Next
Fair warning: This one is long.
A few days after her return, Noceda made her way into the Blight manor. She hadn't seen anyone else from the "good old days".
Today, Amity should be finished moving back into her old room. Now that the "empress" had returned, Luz needed a place to stay.
The Owl house didn't seem like it would be accepting new tenants. Amity said she could stay at the "New Coven" HQ. Belos's former castle might as well be put to good use.
Stepping through the front door, she expected to be greeted by either stuffy parents or mischievous siblings. Neither seemed to be home. Just a familiar face waiting to report her news.
Luz: "Good afternoon, my lovely gf! I'm ready for my homecoming party!"
Amity: "I've already updated Willow and Augustus. They should be ready to speak with you after some time."
Luz(folding her arms): "Why so formal, Blight? Is it the house? Maybe we should get our own-".
Amity: "Everyone's going to need time to take all this in, even me. But what about you? Any trouble moving back into your old castle?"
Luz (sarcastically): " You mean Belos's hand-me-downs? You know, after I killed him. Not so bad once you get passed the stares and constant reminders of who I was."
Amity: "Sorry."
Wait, why was she apologizing?
Luz nonchalantly shrugged.
Luz: "Meh, there was vacancy."
Speaking of vacancy, even for a big house, this was unusually quiet.
Luz( jokingly): "So, when's the party? I want to see everyone. Where are they?"
Amity: "That's going to have to wait. My family's already on their way to a conference. We'll be gone for four days."
Luz: "Sounds like high class stuff. Perfect for a romantic getaway, like in the movies. Ok, I'm in!"
Amity: "You can't come."
Luz( pouting): "Huh, why not? I was technically at the top of this food chain. What could possibly stop this empress from returning to high class society?"
Amity: "Me. Remember, everyone was afraid of you. You're supposed to be a secret. Everyone at HQ has orders not to mention you being back."
Sticking her hands in her pockets, the sulking latina turned to leave.
Luz: "Fine! I'll just hang out with Willow and Gus."
Amity: "Those two are busy. Willow has official coven business. Augustus works with his father. They can't drop everything just because you're back."
Stopping mid step, she glanced back to hear about the others.
Luz: "Eda? King?"
Amity dodged her gaze.
Amity: "We haven't been able to reach them. They left Bonesborough to cure the curse... with Lilth."
For a brief moment, red flickered in Luz's eyes. Unfortunately, Amity caught glimpse of that. She made her way to the staircase.
Amity: "Enjoy the alone time."
Being left alone wasn't a fun thought.
Luz: "Hold on, you sure there's no way I could tag along?"
Amity: "Not without some assurances."
Luz: "Like a certain glowing circle floating in midair?"
Got her...
Amity: "The everlasting oath will only work if we're both on board with this. If you're willing to promise give up your magic, it could work. Just for four days, ok? I want to breathe easy. "
Luz: "Ok, but on one condition. We don't tell anyone else about this. There's probably a line of witches who want to take a shot at me."
A purple halo was spawned before them. Amity held her hand out, ready to begin. But just as Luz held out hers, it crackled. A burst of red in its hue, it zapped both their wrists before dissolving. The slight scorch marks seemed to send a clear message.
Amity( disappointed): "I knew this wouldn't work."
Luz: "Hang on, one more time. Close your eyes."
If you looked up "suspicious" in the dictionary, you'd see this moment.
Amity's narrowed eyes tried to read Luz's intentions. The suspect raised her right hand and put the other one on her chest.
Luz: "No tricks, I swear."
Complying with her request, Amity didn't peek.
Luz's eyes darted for the closest reflective object. Settling on a mirror, she knew who else was staring back.
Luz( mouthing the words): "Come on, help me out here."
Trying once more, two hands joined together without fail.
Luz: "See? No sweat. Now, when do we leave?"
Amity: "Tonight, I'm almost done packing. But there's something else I've got to say. My family's arranged for all of us to have our own rooms, for privacy. So..."
Amity brought a hand to Luz's face, smiling.
Amity( patting Luz's cheek): "Good luck finding a last minute vacancy."
And with that, a slack jawed girl was left to wait at the door.
Luz: "Fine, I don't need magic. I've got a dangerous rep!"
[The morning after Luz's return, at New Coven HQ]
Gus: "We've got to drop everything and deal with this!"
Amity: "No, we need to focus. How did she even get here?"
Willow(sarcastically): "Maybe you can find the answer at your next book club meeting? Spoiler alert! Luz's pages ahead of us."
Gus has been working with his father. Though, keeping his finger on the town's pulse was definitely a useful thing. From hearing rumors to reading reports, Gus was the group's ears.
He'd barged into Amity's briefing. Reports of crystal balls disappearing overnight. That definitely seemed like New Coven business.
Of course, it seemed like a good time to inform them of last night's visitor.
Gus: "This can't a coincidence. First, she shows up. Then, robberies happen all over town, overnight! What next? The town gets knee deep in a potion flood?"
Willow: "That doesn't sound that bad, all things considered."
Gus(hysterical): "Oh, sure! Why don't we just ask our former dictator? Hey, Luz, how bad are things going to get?"
They took the news about as well as could be expected.
Gus: "We can't just ask her. She'd probably get scary and wipe out the town."
Willow( putting a hand on Gus's shoulder): " Come on, Gus, this is Luz we're talking about. She's got a big imagination. She'd probably come up with something way worse."
Ok, that's enough panicking.
Amity: "She's not going to wipe out Bonesborough... today. Look, right now we've got questions that need answers. And each of us still have jobs to do. Augustus, I want you to keep up to date on the investigations. Willow, I need you to go to the tree. The portal's gone, but there might be something left behind. Anything that could give us a hint.
Get to it!"
This was normally the part where everyone's dismissed. But Willow waited to shut the door behind Gus.
Willow: "Now that he's gone, we need to clear the air."
Amity just sat down, resting her head on her arms.
Willow: "Do you know why I became your personal assistant?"
Amity(sheepish): "Because you're that nice of a witch and couldn't let me fall apart?"
Willow: "Luz meant alot to us. But she meant a whole lot to you. If anyone was going to get her back, it was you. You were the key to seeing her again. And I wanted to be there to see my friend again.
...
Guess I dropped the ball on that one, huh?"
These two might not be friends, but they had each other's backs.
Willow: "So, do you trust her?"
Amity: "I don't know."
Smirking, Willow wrapped one arm around Amity's shoulder.
Willow: "Well, maybe we can do something about that? See, while you were obviously crushing on her from afar..."
Amity(slightly blushing): " Obviously?!"
Willow(smug): " I was learning up close about schemes, plots, and ruses from a master of shenanigans."
Willow's confidence had improved.
Willow: "I've got a plan. If everything goes well, you might get everything you hoped for.
Twoo wuv's kiss saves Luz and both of you get a happy ending."
She took jabs at her new boss when she could. Payback for the years of bullying.
While Amity became beet red, Willow continued.
Willow(whispering): "Here's what you need to do..."
[Bonus]
The afternoon after the conference, at the Blight manor.
The "undercover" duo knocked at the Blight manor entrance.
The family should be back, by now.
They were met by the twins, Emira and Edric.
Willow: "We need to talk to Amity."
Emira: "She's sleeping."
Gus: "It's four in the afternoon."
Edric: "She didn't get a wink, last night."
A smiles appeared on Amity's siblings.
Edric: "Want to see why?"
Not even waiting for an answer, he brought up a scroll. The footage was ready to go.
Edric: "We had a ball to cap off the night."
Emira: "But Luz wanted to do something special."
There, on the screen, Luz stood in the spotlight. Holding the mic and a spanish guitar, she broadcasted for the dance hall.
Luz: "This one goes out to a special someone here tonight. It's called, 'You're in my heart'."
Amity could be seen hiding her face, as she tried to excuse herself.
Emira: "We told her, Amity left during her performance."
Edric: "So, she asked for our help in finding mitten's window."
Pulling up another recording, this one seemed to take place outside.
Luz: "I saw this in a movie, once."
As the shot panned out, the eyes of these two detectives nearly popped out at the screen. What they saw could only be described as an army of Luz clones. The one up front, holding the guitar, began to play. The rest of them sang behind her.
Luz army(echoing): "Love of my life, you've hurt me.
You've broken my heart, and now you leave me."
The Blight twins collapsed from laughter.
The two guests looked at each other.
Gus(confused): "Are we... sure that's not the real Luz?"
Willow: "I thought Luz wasn't supposed to do magic?"
Edric(astounded): "That's why she asked for our help!"
Emira: "I just thought she was trying to get in good with her future in laws. Those powers glyphs weren't a bad start."
Before Willow could ask about that, Gus had his own question.
Gus: "When did you even learn this song?"
Blight twins(in unison): "Last night."
Willow: "No one tried to stop her during any of this?"
Emira: "People were too sacred they'd set her off. I mean, even we had trouble believing she wasn't going to start... you know."
Edric: "That is, until she wanted to pull something over on Amity. And really, who are we to try and stop her from redeeming herself?"
Emira: "Yeah, shame she made Luz walk home."
Slowly, Willow pieced together a realization.
Willow: "Time's not up yet and she's walking back alone.
Wait, did you post this on Penstagram?!"

Flirty Criminal
criminal!song mingi X detective!m!reader
Part 4
word count – 3K
genre – Fluff/Angst | Criminal/Cop!au
warning(s) – mentions of cheating, threats
synopsis – “[Y/N] [L/N] is known famously around his police precinct as the detective that the infamous criminal Song Mingi has a crush on. The detective denies these claims, though Mingi gets into as much trouble as possible just to see him.”
Tumblr media
Things were going well, to say the least.
On one hand, Mingi was madly in love with you, which is what you wanted. Having the criminal wrapped around your finger was what was necessary to complete the job assignment, you were hoping he'd soon melt and tell you what you needed. You didn't ship your husband to Chicago for no reason.
Yet, on the other hand, it was getting increasingly difficult to retrieve what you needed, Mingi was always acting like he wasn't some notorious criminal, he would show a very different side to how he would normally behave. He was sweet, affectionate, constantly horny and just– you wondered; is this what Song Mingi is when he's not leading his life of violent crime.
Three and a half weeks have ran by, hickeys littered your shoulders and many kisses have met your lips. None of it bad, but Mingi had this mindset of 'I am not clingy, but I am', enough for your colleagues to know that you're seeing someone (they all know damn well that it isn't your husband, he was never this possessive) while you would change out of your work gear in the locker rooms.
This new change of pace wasn't annoying or something you were struggling to adapt to. You're literally paid to act cute and go on dates with the guy. Yet it had crossed your mind multiple times as to whether or not you were actually catching feelings for Mingi.
"Wow, your house is really nice," Mingi said, his eyes wondering around the whole place.
It's a big house, it's nice, and you're very much proud of it. High ceilings, a swimming pool at the back, a lovely porch; everything you had wanted as a child. You wrapped your arms around Mingi, his hands holding your waist as you did so. You placed a small kiss on his lips, "I missed you."
"You saw me yesterday," He chuckled, leaning forward to place another kiss. "We're actually having dinner, right? Because I came here on an empty stomach and I'm kind of starving."
"I didn't have a chef's mindset, I hope fancy ramen and wine is enough," You giggled, smiling at Mingi.
He scoffed light-heartedly, "That's fine, Im just starving. Let's enjoy our dinner, yeah?"
Tumblr media
"What the–"
Maybe your husband shouldn't have over-thought the idea of you sending him to Chicago. You told him it as because of the fact that Mingi knew who he was and he was a potential target; and it was partly correct.
But the man you once fell in love with was standing at the entrance of the dining room with the house keys in his hand, shocked expression, eyes wide and horribly confused.
He wasn't in Chicago.
He was in your house, watching you hold hands with Song Mingi as if you were married to him.
Half a second had gone by, and the shock on your husband's face was inevitable.
Mingi was the first to notice. His eyes were smiling with his face while he was looking at you but his expression went cold when he turned his head to the man who was uninvited. He scowled, "Can we help you?"
To which you promptly turned around to as well. Your eyes went wide and out of instinct you stood up and let go of Mingi's hand, turning to your husband, "Ty...What are you doing here?"
"Me?" He scoffed at you, before looking at Mingi, "What's he doing here?"
Mingi didn't hold back, "Date night." He leaned back against the chair, his elbow propped up on the neck of it, almost slouching, but not the lazy kind, the intimidating kind. "And I don't know about you, but I don't like jerks in suits ruining them."
Ty didn't like that. Especially since he felt so in the dark with this whole situation, and the fact that you weren't doing anything to defend him made it that little bit worse. He took a step forward, his nose scrunched in anger, eyes on Mingi, "I could fucking step on you, Song."
Mingi let out a sarcastic laugh, before dropping it to a smirk, "I could fucking shoot you."
"Enough." You frowned at both of them before turning to your husband, "You. Come with me. And you–" You said, pointing at Mingi, "–You stay here."
He rolled his eyes, but stayed put regardless. His gaze drifted to your husband, glaring daggers into the guy's soul as he watched the two of you exit the room. Mingi huffed, unscrewing the bottle of red wine to fill his glass to the top, leaving the narrowest space just so the red toxins didn't overflow and permanently stain the lint, beige, tablecloth.
You had entered the guest bedroom, Ty following behind you before closing the door, making sure that there was no way anybody would hear the two of you. Ty took in a very sharp breath, his eyebrows furrowed and his eyes still that bit wide from shock, "[Y/N]." He started, "[Y/N], what the fuck is going on?"
You crossed your arms, remaining calm, "Why aren't you in Chicago?"
"Excuse me?" Ty choked out, not really being able to comprehend the words coming out from his husband's mouth. "That's what your concern is? That I'm interrupting your date? Mind you, with Song fucking Mingi?"
You snapped; "I didn't interrupt your sex session with my partner, Ty."
Ty's expression went from angry to shocked. He opened his mouth to speak, then closed it again since his mind was too busy re-registering what you'd just said.
There were very few things you were telling the truth about the night you slept with Mingi, but one of them weren't the fact that you found your husband in bed with your partner. The white lie was when you knew. It wasn't that night, you knew months in advance, but you just didn't have the heart to confront both parties about it.
The only issue was, the more you put the confrontation on hold, the more out of love you were with Ty.
And it was the reason why you accepted the whole assignment to trick Mingi into being your boyfriend. You weren't willing to fix things with a cheater, you respected yourself too much for that, but you also went willing to risk putting Ty in danger either, so you told him that sending him to Chicago would be safest for him.
Ty obviously didn't get the message, since he's in the same household as a man who killed a bunch of people, as well as willing to kill someone who's hurt someone he loves.
"Yeah," you sighed, "That's what I thought."
Cheating on a cheater is like fighting fire with fire; there's nothing wrong with it, just as long as both parties are sane enough to manage the flames. But it doesn't mean that ones flame won't occasionally burn the other.
"Get whatever the fuck you need, then go to my precinct. I'll call Haulting, he'll send you on the next flight to a safe house." There's always a plan B. You lock eyes with Ty, no smile, no frown, just some expression that told him that you didn't care what he needed to tell you, "If you need to talk; you call Haulting, not me. He'll forward you to me during bussiness-hours if it's urgent."
"[Y/N], don't—"
"I already did," you said, "And you did too. So don't bother."
Ty frowned, his brows furrowed in the process. He really wanted to say something, something that will show his guilt but also stop you from what he thinks is a dangerous decision. Though he knows danger isn't something you worry about, you didn't become a detective for nothong.
He didn't say anything. He looked at you for the last time that night before walking past you. He couldn't believe he was listening to you, or even letting go of the fact that youre still going to be around that bastard.
He stopped in his tracks when he reached the enterance of the dining room. He glared at Mingi, the jerk was sitting in the chair, glass of wine half empty with a stupid grin on his face that was directed to Ty.
"Watch your step, Song."
"Watch your your back, punk." Mingi laughed, before giving a knowing smirk, "If you're not careful, there might just be a bullet heading your way."
Ty scoffed, heading out the door, not forgetting to slam behind him as he left.
Mingi rolled his eyes, taking a mouthful of the red wine before turning around to see you enter the room again. He smiled at you softly, "You okay?"
You nodded, sighing. "Yeah, sorry."
Mingi shook his head, putting his drink down. He watched you put your phone on the table, the device sitting up. He raised up from his seat, wrapping his arms around your waist and placing his chin on your shoulder, "My help is yours if you need it."
You smiled, just a bit, taking in the smell of his cologne with your arms wrapped around his neck, "Thanks."
Mingi's eyes accidently wandered to your phone. He saw the thing light up, so it was almost hard to miss.

The criminal frowned. His thoughts rushed to one thing, then to another, before stopping when you pulled away from the embrace.
His heart almost melted when you smiled at him, the action replicating a similar expression on his face.
You sighed, "Sorry for ruining dinner." You said, gently pulling on one of Mingi's buttons, "Want to watch a movie or something?"
Mingi nodded, "Sure."
But not before his mind fixing to wanting to know what that text was about.

He found the scuff on a Wednesday. It was like any normal day until he saw the scuff. As he reached down to pick up his shiny golden boots, his fingers fell into the smallest of divots. His heart plummeted after he, once again, scratched to make sure it wasn't his mind playing fucked up tricks on him. Luke wanted to throw up, but it wasn't the worst thing that could happen he supposed.
"Suck my fucking ass," he mumbled to the pricey boots, shoving them onto his feet so he could start his day. Quite honestly, the boots squeezed his toes in all of the wrong places. But, they were the most beautiful things he had ever laid eyes on. "Pfft." Luke sat back against his bed, fumbling with the star ring on his finger as he contemplated what to do next.
Shit. Class. That held importance.
There was a Starbucks straw wrapper stuck to the sole of his left boot, and fortunately for him, he noticed it before walking out of the apartment. His socks were mismatched, and there was a stain over the chest of his shirt, though he hardly had the energy to care. With a quick swipe of apricot jam on his toast, Luke was out the door with ten minutes to spare.
He was tired of learning about the context behind photography. He wanted exhibitions and guest speakers, not meaningless worksheets about what the methodologies meant. However, the idea of an exhibition sounded much more spectacular than the actual act of preparing for the exhibition. So, naturally, when the professor reminded his seniors of their final exhibition, Luke felt the bile rise in his throat for the second time that day. He had ideas, but they were simply ideas.
The issue with living off-campus was that Luke had only a few friends, and he needed models.
You saw his flyer two minutes after he plastered it onto the pole. You figured modeling for this stranger would be similar to modeling for your friend Liv, and you weren't prepared to expect anything different. A moment later, you called up the number, pushing back the nerves and the thought of possibly being photographed nude.
Maybe it would be fine.
-
"You're wearing that?" he questioned the second he opened the door for you. His eyes darted down to your three-year-old Birkenstocks, then back up to your face so he could send you a frown. "I thought– never mind."
You lagged behind him as he led you into the studio apartment. "You didn't specify what to wear," you said. "I'm sorry. Was I supposed to– "
"Don't worry 'bout it," Luke breathed out, but his tone came out sharp, making it clear to you that you had done something wrong. He shifted a few pieces of furniture around while you stood there, meek as can be. "Hope ya know what you're in for."
"What, you mean modeling?"
Luke shook his head, briefly standing tall to meet your gaze. "Nah, not that easy," he said with a smirk. "Take off the Birks." He nodded to your feet, then added, "and the bag."
"Are you able to give me an idea of what we're– "
"Sit for a sec," Luke nearly snapped, taking your bag from your hands as you stepped out of your sweaty sandals. "Kick those by the door, please." And, you did. "Watch out for dog piss."
"Dog?" you questioned, but you only had to glance around for a second to notice the cutest dog curled up on the bed. "Oh, dog."
"Petunia."
"Petunia," you replied and sat down on the couch. "Hey, Luke?"
He looked at you from the table in the corner. He was doing something with a few film cartridges as he responded with a small, "yeah?"
You could hardly settle into the couch; the awkward tension was too thick to want to move. "What exactly do you have in mind for me?" You dug your bare feet into the thin carpet below you in an attempt to relax your body.
Luke's gaze was harsh, but you assumed it wasn't meant to be. "I shoot lifestyle," he said, pushing his chair out from under the table with a loud squeak before standing up. "But, you're my exploration."
"Exploration?"
He nodded as he walked towards you.
You felt the awkward tension climb dramatically once more, and it had a lot to do with how tall and intimidating he was. He kept his eyes on you as he set his camera down on the coffee table. Sure, he was cute but also damn grumpy.
"I collect letters," he said, bending back down to reach for a YSL shoebox underneath the same table his camera was on.
You eyed the designer box and waited for him to continue.
"Some are from my grandparents, some from my parents, from old friends... some are from strangers," he mumbled as he sorted through a bunch of wrinkled pages. "I've been collecting since I was ten. Maybe? Anyway, I chose a few of my favorites. And you, sweetheart, are going to represent each letter."
You were confused, and your face certainly showed it. Petunia waddled by you, though you hardly took notice because you were still gaping at Luke as if he had recited the alphabet backward eleven times fast.
He rolled his eyes. "You'll get it eventually."
You just nodded.
"Today's letter is from my mom to my dad when they were in their twenties." Luke pulled out a letter decorated with a red paperclip on the corner and set it between his lips so he could mess around with the box. After setting the paper down beside him, he said, "that was why I thought I had asked you to bring a large old t-shirt. But, whatever, you can borrow one of mine."
You decided that staying silent was your best option. Besides, Luke seemed like quite the chatterbox.
"They met the summer after their first year at college, but they didn't attend the same college," he explained – well, shouted from the opposite side of the room as he fumbled through his dresser drawers for the right shirt. "So, while she was away–" Luke walked over with a wadded olive shirt in his one hand, "–she sometimes wore his shirt when she missed him. She wrote about it in the letter."
"Do I look like your mom?" you asked, which caused Luke to stifle a chuckle.
"God, no," he said. "You don't have to. You're just a subject."
You nodded, taking the wrinkled shirt from his hands. It was then that you noticed the few rings that decorated his fingers. Man, you thought, this man was unlike any other. You wouldn't be surprised if he indulged in expensive things every once in a while, and the rings and shoebox only proved it to be true. He nodded over to the bathroom, so you took that as a sign for you to go change.
"Am I– "
You spun around to find Luke already facing you with his hands on his hips. His expression had been dull ever since you walked into the apartment, and you figured it hardly ever changed around anyone else as well.
"Am I wearing anything else with the shirt or– "
"Just the shirt," said Luke, giving you a nod as his Adam's Apple bobbed in his throat.
Just the shirt. Maybe you should have thought twice about signing up to be a model for an emotionless, pretentious, and certainly gorgeous stranger.
Luke had a hard time knowing exactly what to do with you. You were a stiff and inexperienced model, but somehow, he made it work. The first shoot went better than he had planned. He placed you on his vintage couch – the one he purchased at a flea market – and next to his grandmother's lace lamp. The light from the lamp cast perfect shadows on your face, though he figured your stupid good looks had a bit more to do with how well the photograph turned out. You weren't looking at the camera in the photo, in fact, he had you look down to "write" in a leather-bound notebook situated on the arm of the couch.
The next scheduled shoot he planned for the both of you gave him enough time to develop the shots he took from the first shoot. He took more than enough, and he was willing to spend a good sum of money on rolls to make sure this exhibition turned out well. Just as he suspected, you looked fantastic in almost all of them, but his favorite was the one on the couch.
Despite the quality of the photograph, Luke did not love working with you. You were confused almost all of the time. He had to remind himself that you could not see his vision, but it was surely annoying that you couldn't. At times, he felt bad for getting a little pissy here and there. He wanted you to understand his photography as much as he did.
The next shoot gave you a cold. The letter he chose was written by a stranger who had sold a box of their belongings over to him in a garage sale in his old neighborhood. The stranger confessed their mistakes over this heartbreaking letter, and the worst part of it all was the shape of the parchment. The ink had bled all over, and the ivory-colored pages were shriveled and decayed. So, Luke assumed the letter had been written in a torrential downpour. He placed you on a park bench in the middle of a rainstorm with only a raincoat to keep you dry. While he had an umbrella and a bag to keep him and his camera safe, you had the worst of it all.
It was safe to say that both you and Luke did not love each other's company but didn't necessarily hate it either.
"Meet me at the Goodwill on Everett," Luke said to you the second you picked up his phone call. "I'll give you NyQuil if you need any."
"No, I– " You interrupted yourself with a cough. "I'm good. I'm getting better. Should I wear anything in particular?"
Luke cleared his throat. "Blue eyeshadow and red lipstick. That's, uh, that's what she used to wear."
He hung up before you could reply. You were lucky you owned both blue eyeshadow and red lipstick, and you couldn't help but wonder who the subject of the letter was today. And, you certainly wondered how Luke knew what make up this "she" wore.
When you arrived at the Goodwill, you had a little trouble finding Luke. You finally located him over by the aisles of strange knick-knacks where he was snapping a few photos of whatever fucked-up items he could find.
"I got a roll of thirty-six shots," he said as you walked over before handing you a piece of clothing. "Put this jacket on. You don't have to buy it, don't worry."
You nodded and did as he told. The one thing you've learned after the few times of being around Luke was that he never reacted well when you questioned him. He became flustered easily, and he hated answering questions that he didn't want to. You slipped on the faux-fur coat and chuckled a bit at the thought of how you might look.
"God," he muttered. "Ya look weird."
You held your breath as he approached you, and the closer he got, the more you felt incapable of ever breathing again. He had been somewhat close to you before because of close-up shots, but never like this. He took his thumb and brought it up to your eyelid as he gave it a quick and gentle swipe. His action reminded you of the way he spoke. He was gentle with you, even when he seemed annoyed. You imagined he was soft-spoken mostly because he refused to show any emotion.
"Thanks," you replied after he backed away. "Looking weird is my specialty."
"No," said Luke in a light, joking tone.
"Is the blue a little much?"
He gave you a hint of a smile and shook his head. "Just messy. Aunt Margret wore a lot of eyeshadow, but it was always clean. Take this notebook and stand by the monkey clock." He handed you a thin journal as you scoffed, but he ignored you and looked down to adjust his camera.
"We can't all be a beauty guru, Lucas," you tutted.
"Not my name," he responded, and you swore you could see a smirk below his tilted head. "I just know how to style, sweet cheeks." When he looked up, his smile grew, and your heart stuttered.
Oh no, no, no. No matter how cute this pretentious shit was, you did not want to have feelings for him. Especially since he was incredibly difficult to work with.
"Excuse you," you gasped, folding your arms over your chest. "My style doesn't suck... sweet cheeks." You glanced over at the monkey clock he mentioned before. "What should I do?"
Luke walked over to you again and took your shoulders in his hands. "Turn this way..." He tugged you to the center of the aisle and angled your body to face the shelves slightly. "And face me..." He backed up a few long steps, looked into the viewfinder, then backed up again. "Put your hands t-to your sides and hold the notebook in one hand just like– yeah, like you're doing... just like that."
You nodded curtly and swallowed your breath, holding it tight in your chest as Luke focused on taking the picture. The frustrating thing about the whole process was that he had no idea how the photos would turn out for a while. With a quick click of the shutter, he was done, and you could breathe again.
"I want you to pretend to write again," he stated. "And, can you also smile down at the page as if you're writing down a happy memory?"
You found yourself already smiling at his words. "Whatever you say, sweet cheeks."
Luke let out a small groan and brought his camera back up to his eyes again. "Dare you to call me that one more time, sweet cheeks."
"Try and stop me, sweet cheeks." You glanced down and scratched down a word or two. Before you knew it, the shutter snapped. "I think I blinked!" you exclaimed, slapping your hands down to where the jacket hit your mid-thighs.
Luke chuckled, and that was the first time you heard something more than half-hearted. "I'll take another, darling. Like I said, I have a roll of– "
"What's with the pet names, Lucas?" you questioned as a smug smirk played on your lips. For the first time since you began working with him, you felt relaxed enough to actually joke around with him. This robot man was no longer a robot.
He shrugged and brought his camera back up. "Go back to the way you were," he said instead of replying to your previous question.
You complied, and he took a few more shots of you in different poses. While you focused on trying to breathe, Luke, on the other hand, attempted to focus on not blushing out of embarrassment. Yeah, he thought you were cute, but he didn't expect you to be so feisty. It kind of excited him, and he was unsure of how to process it. Whatever the sudden buzzing was deep in his stomach, he wanted it gone as soon as possible. After a few more shots, Luke called it a day before leaving you to put away the faux-fur jacket that reminded him of his Aunt Margaret.
-
You met him at an old bookshop on October Drive, the one where the used books outnumbered the new ones and the employees knew everybody who walked in. You were told to wear your sweetest sundress, which kind of meant little to you since you only owned one sundress. Nevertheless, you threw it on and left your apartment in whatever makeup you had on beforehand.
You found Luke nestled in a dusty corner. This nook was out of sight in every angle possible, and you wondered what the contents of today's letter could be. However, you knew you would never find out unless you either asked or attended his exhibition later in the semester. And, as you suspected, he looked better than you. So, maybe this "sweet cheeks" did know a thing or two about fashion. His vintage tee was tucked into a pair of high-waist black pants, and you couldn't help but wish you were wearing that instead due to the crisp breeze outside. When you saw his golden boots, you were tempted to laugh.
"You look like if the sun and a daisy had a baby," he said as you neared him. "And, if that baby threw up." Luke grinned at you.
You had to grin in return. Robot boy was really no more. "Tell me about today's letter, please," you said, hoping your erratic heart rate wasn't evident in your words. It sometimes felt risky to ask Luke questions, but he only nodded.
"My mum's friend was a poet," he began, "and she wrote letters to her mother when the mum was dying of cancer." You frowned, and Luke carried on. "She and her mum were never that close, so the mum wrote her daughter letters to tell her all about her life. She wrote down her favorite books and songs, and things she did with her husband when they were together. This one tells the story of where she went after she found out she was pregnant."
You sat beside Luke in the red chaise lounge.
"She sat in this bookstore from open to close just reading," he continued. "There's nothing really special about it, to be honest. I just know that if I found out life-changing news, I'd probably want to live in a different world for a little while as well."
"So, she read," you said, softly smiling to yourself. "How'd you get this letter?"
Luke sighed. "The daughter died of cancer fourteen years later. Before she died, she gave the letters to my mum, and my mum let me have this one." He held up a letter with a green paper clip in the corner. "The sundress is just because I figured you would look cute, I guess."
You glanced away to hide your smile. Oh fuck. "Or because you figured I'd look like sunshine vomit."
"Oh, of course," Luke laughed. "I'm the one that's stylish, sweet cheeks."
"So rude," you muttered.
The two of you did more talking than taking pictures, and for some reason, Luke was okay with that. He was confident that he got what he needed, and he wasn't even worried one bit. He actually liked spending time with you now, even if his insides kind of burned when your shoulders brushed or when you smiled at something he said. Though he didn't want to admit it, he liked making you smile.
The air felt thicker back in the corner and the chaise felt smaller. You were a little upset that he had made you wear a dress strictly because you forgot to wear shorts underneath it, so you had to sit as normal as possible. Luke, meanwhile, was stretched out beside you against the faded pillows. A simple smile decorated his features as you told stories about your childhood dog. And, every time he ran his fingers through his curls, you shuddered. You hadn't seen hair as beautiful as his in ages.
"You're pretty good at telling stories, sweet cheeks," he mumbled, eyes set on the cracked ceiling above you. Someone on the other side of the bookshelf coughed. "I almost teared up when you got to when your pup passed away."
You smiled. "You're pretty good at photography, sweet cheeks," you replied, poking his knee.
"You don't even know what my photography looks like." Luke sat up slightly and reached his arms around his head so he could lay against them. He looked like a damn Botticelli artwork.
"I..." You bit the inside of your cheek. "I actually found your photography Instagram..."
This caused Luke to sit up, and in doing so, he nearly knocked you over with how close his limbs came to bump into you. "H-how?" he stuttered.
His eyes were staring so intently into yours, you could hardly breathe. It was almost as if he were shoving his camera lens in your face again, except this time he wasn't taking a picture. He was only looking at you. He had never looked at you this way before.
"I... I asked around," you answered. "It was before I had met you, and I just wanted to see what your photography was like, I guess."
Luke raised an eyebrow at you. A pretty, pretty eyebrow.
"I thought it was fantastic," you breathed out. "It is fantastic. I'm in awe every time you post something." Your toes felt numb. Actually, you couldn't feel your feet or your hands at all.
"Y-you... do you follow me, darling?" Luke slowly began to smile, which only made the heat on your cheeks ignite.
You glanced down at your hands on your lap. "I just might, sweet cheeks." When you looked back over at Luke, his gaze was set on his hands as well. He was beaming. In one swift movement, and before you could even think twice, you leaned over and pressed a quick kiss to the apple of his cheek. Your heart collapsed once you pulled back and saw his smile fall. "I-I'm sorry. So, so sorry. That was so uncalled for. I– "
Luke grabbed your hand and tugged you up from the chaise. "Follow me." He led you away from the corner and into another room you had yet to see. In all honesty, this was the first time you had been to this bookstore, and it was all because of Luke. He was still grasping your hand gently even though he was nearly dragging you along with him.
"What are– "
Suddenly, he stopped dead in his tracks. You, of course, collided into his back. Before you could apologize, he turned around to face you. This area of the bookstore was just as secluded as the one the two of you were in prior, which made you wonder if many people even knew of this place. Luckily, Luke's smile had returned.
He let go of your hand and took a few steps back. "Stay there," he said, holding up the camera that was strapped around his neck. "The stain glass windows are casting a shit ton of colors on you, darling. You look beautiful."
Beautiful?  Oh no.
You kept your entire body still as Luke moved around to figure out the perfect distance for him to be away from you. After a moment, you heard the shutter and breathed. "I feel like a statue," you sighed, relaxing your shoulders. "I wish you had pictures of yourself. You look beautiful, too."
Luke chuckled lowly. "Beautiful," he repeated, and his feet crossed over one another as he said the simple word. His eyes darted around the shelves before meeting yours, and you could tell he was thinking deeply about something. Before you realized it, he was taking the camera off from around his shoulders. "You can take a picture. I don't mind, sweetie."
You felt your shoulders stiffen again. "W-what?"
"I said– "
"I mean, I know what you said, but..." You slowly reached out to take the camera from him. "Are you sure?"
Luke nodded. "Positive."
"Are you sure, you're sure?"
He chuckled. "Go for it."
"I–"
"Dammit, princess, take the picture."
You hesitantly brought the viewfinder up to your eye so you could see what he saw when taking photos of you. The world felt small all of a sudden, and all you could see was him. Your finger brushed over the shutter button.
"You can back up if ya want, darling," he said.
You shook your head. "No, I like you from here." Without even thinking, you snapped the picture. The shutter speed sounded like music to Luke's ears. You brought the camera down away from your face as Luke took a few steps toward you. You figured he was collecting his camera from you, but after you handed it to him, he set it down on the shelf beside the two of you.
Neither of you said a thing the moment the toes of his boots were millimeters away from your sandals. His eyes were staring into yours again, only this time his brows were relaxed, and his lips weren't pursed.
"I'd like to kiss you," he whispered, scratching at his beard. "Only if ya– "
You reached your hand up to his collar so you could pull him down and attach his lips to yours. He responded immediately, his own hands coming up to grasp onto your waist with desperation. Your stomach churned – in a good way – at the thought of being able to finally touch his long curls.
He groaned into your mouth as you tangled your fingers into his locks, which only made his grip on your waist tighten slightly. After a few moments, his hands slid down to where the fabric of your dress became the skin of your thighs. The feeling of his fingertips on your skin burned, and it only worsened as they made their way under your dress and up onto the curve of your ass. Luke hands gave your cheeks a firm squeeze, and you pressed up close to him before he let go altogether.
"Super gorgeous," he whispered, reaching up to tuck a stray piece of your hair behind your ear. "Wanna take pictures of ya all day if I could."
"Y'know, I'd want that more than anything," you said and placed one more kiss to his pouty lips, "but I really need this dress off first."
Luke raised an eyebrow. "Oh, sweet cheeks. What have you done to me?"
-
You hadn't realized how soon Luke was able to get his film developed. With Petunia's head on your lap, you spent your time scrolling through Instagram as your boyfriend showered. Your heart leaped suddenly as you stopped on a photograph of yourself. It was the picture he took in the old bookshop on October Drive, the day you first kissed. The caption was simple, yet endearing, and read: my new muse.
