the protagonist is named Ashala av Khilaya and her brother is named Ivren av Khilaya. they are the only two characters whose first names did not (mostly) change from the first draft. Vesta Corvinus is the name of the deuteragonist, and she has fire powers (very creative, i know). the antagonist is named Lucius Cato, and one of the most important side characters is named Leonarda (just Leonarda).

as for more minor (but still recurring) characters, there's Pietro of Napora, Calandro Spiranza, Amata Corvinus, Julianus Corvinus, Caesennia Corvinus, Nahmar Saraba, Samir Saraba, and Flavius Tanicus, as well as some other characters who are only in/mentioned in one scene and therefore aren't notable here.

angelfish: are you a religious person? if you are, what are your beliefs?

i am a deeply religious person, i’d say. though my religion is unorthodox. and complicated.

i often half jokingly call myself a pagan-monotheist. i believe, simultaneously, in one and many gods.

i believe in one singular ultimate “god” who exists as the source of being itself, and the first cause. the unmoved mover. this god is what can be considered the creator of our universe. i believe this god is simultaneously immanent and transcendent. god created the universe by, at least in part, becoming the universe. but this god did not create the universe fully formed. instead it created merely the initial conditions and the laws of nature which govern it and put things in motion and let the universe unfold from there. and these laws and forces in the universe are merely constituent aspects of this god. each unique and distinct, with their own natures and functions, but still entirely and intimately a part of a greater whole. these forces and wills and intelligences and powers are what many (myself included) might consider gods and spirits and angels and daemons. an entire hierarchy of intermediary deities exists, seeming separate from god but not really.

this is a very very grossly simplified overview of the ideas about the divine which i believe in. there’s a lot more to it but i have to make dinner.

First character I feel in love with: Greg. He gives no shits and nothing can touch him. He's hilarious, and innocent.

Character I never expected to love: Enoch has really grown on me and that's entirely the fault of @doyouknowhowtowaltz . I also started off already loving Beatrice - but I love her more and more every day, and that's the fault of @tanicus-caesareth. There's a reason Bea gets her own month of celebration 😤

Character I love that everyone else hates: who can you possibly hate in OTGW? Seriously? I guess Jason Funderberker (the human) - mainly because I headcanon him as a spoiled rich kid with an attitude problem and that makes him fun to write

Character I used to love: all those who held my love hold it still

Character I'd totally smooch: Beatrice and Sara 🥺 too afraid Lorna would bite my face off. Greg and Wirt each get a smooch on the head. Enoch gets a smooch on his kitty face. Anna gets a hug.

Character I'd want to be like: Beatrice has a giant family that loves her and forgives her for turning them into bluebirds, so that's a good goal. Also, even in bluebird form, she's the sauciest thing alive. I want her confidence.

Character I'd slap: Jason Funderberker (the human) eff that guy lol

A pairing that I love: infinite eyes rolls 😉😏🙄 (mainly in the context of Beast!Wirt); bluebell 🥰💙☠ (this is also @tanicus-caesareth 's fault - I'd never considered this pairing before my third eye had been opened, now I adore it); poetic bee 💛🌻🐝 (Sara would help Wirt grow up, she's a queen); beastnoch (again thanks to @doyouknowhowtowaltz - never thought about it, thought it was weird, now it's fun)

A pairing I despise: poetree 🚫. Can't imagine any scenario when it isn't gross, never seen anything where Wirt (or the Beast) were in character whatsoever. That being said - I don't seek it out, and if people want to play in that sandbox, whatevs. Also cannot stand pinescone. But again - not my party!

Danner’s ‘No Time to Die’ Tanicus Tactical Boots Hit the Slopes

get to know: fern

Fern, pupsitter.

Born into a prominent family in a large pack, Fern was the apple of her parents’ eyes. The pair had been struggling to conceive for some time, and though they’d been hoping for a male to continue the family line, they settled for quiet, gentle Fern, and hoped that with time she would be able to fulfill her promised rank of the pack’s advisor, succeeding her father. There was a change, however, as Fern neared the end of her adolescence. Another miracle pregnancy, this time bringing not one, but two younger brothers into Fern’s life. Almost immediately, she was cast aside, told that she would be better suited bringing new blood into the pack, and that now was the time for her to select a mate with matching or better status. 

Crestfallen, Fern weighed her options. She’d never really wanted her father’s role, but it would have been a stable position in the pack, with promise of protection. She couldn’t really resent her parents for their choice, as males were generally preferred within the pack, but she didn’t want to sit around as somebody’s mate, destined to bring litter after litter into the world, and have any future daughters suffer the same fate. Fern made the difficult decision to leave one snowy night, in the cover of a raging blizzard.

It was a few days later that she crossed paths with Meira, whom at first she’d mistaken as another lone wolf. She was surprised to hear that Meira was in fact one of the heads of her pack, and it wasn’t due to a family line or a lack of males, but her skill instead. There was an instant trust bond between the two, and though she was hesitant to join the Blue Moon Hounds, she was impressed by their level-headed leader, and seeing that they were desperate for another responsible adult to help raise their newfound orphans, she settled into the role of pupsitter easily.

Though Fern generally keeps to herself, she puts the pups at ease with her soft-spoken voice and plush fur, and she’s a natural caregiver. Aside from Meira, Fern’s closest friends are the fellow pupsitters, Bronze and Slate. She enjoys her time in the pup den, but when convinced, can be seen stargazing at the highest points of the mountains with Tanicus, who’s a little more than in love with her, though she doesn’t seem to notice.
