TAR21 was quite literally so good up until the finale, like sure it made a great storyline and underdog win but what the fuck!? I kinda liked the idea of whoever won the first leg would have to win the final leg in order to double their prize money, it’s a shame they don’t do that more often. It was kinda cool seeing Amy Purdy on this show because I loved her on DWTS, so I was interested to see how she would do this season but she flopped with her man. Such a shame cause they did so well the first leg. There were so many teams making route mistakes in finding places for the clues, it was quite hilarious. I’m just going to skip to commenting about the second half of the season as it really was the most interesting stretch since it was pretty much everyone vs Abbie & Ryan and then Josh & Brent yet again on their own. Let me just say, I stanned the alliance of six between Natalie & Nadiya, Trey & Lexi, and Jaymes & James. I think they made one of the smartest moves strategically with the U-Turn and the way they did it was flawless. Most of the time people just want to U-Turn based on personal feelings which I find so dumb cause you should be thinking strategically and logically. I watched Natalie win Survivor and flop on TAR24 before ever watching her debut season on TAR21, and I couldn’t be more proud to stan this girl, along with Nadiya. They completely owned this season. Sure they may have been slightly annoying at times and chaotic but without them this season would be very different and dry. Sucks to know they flop on All Stars 2. Jaymes & James I was surprised I would like so much, but Jaymes especially was just so charismatic and funny. Yeah they’re attractive, but there’s been so many hot boy teams that are boring as hell or problematic, so they were refreshing to have. Plus their storyline about Jaymes’ dad and James’ mom, I just felt for them more than I have for past muscle boy teams. I expected them to win, and wish they had at that point. It’s a crime they haven’t been brought back for another season...especially for All Stars wtf. Trey & Lexi for the most part were bland as hell as usual brunette male/blonde female couples are on TAR but they seemed pretty genuine at the same time. I liked them, and am glad they ended up getting married since that’s what Lexi wanted. Wish they had won as well since they were so consistent and doing so well, just got stumped by the roadblock. These three were serving constantly, so for them to be in the top 4 with such solid storylines and great gameplay...to end up with Josh & Brent win is...underwhelming. I didn’t hate them, didn’t love them, kinda felt icky with them towards the end cause they were getting just a bit too cocky for people who were underperforming the entire time. Also a lot of the tasks towards the end seemed a bit too geared for them, I’m not saying it was rigged but it was just..weird. Just to mention James & Abba quickly, I liked them and felt so bad for them when they got their bags stolen. That’s always a horrible way to go out of the race, and it’s even more devastating when it happens to a team who was fairly strong and doing well enough to make it to the finale. Also the whole money thing with Natalie & Nadiya “taking their money”, that whole thing was fair since it’s not like they deliberately stole it from their bags. They found it on the ground and took it, oh well! The fact that fans hate them for that and say they were cheating is so dumb. Anyways they deserve to be on Unfinished Business 2, whenever that happens! Overall the season was pretty great, a lot of fun tasks and interesting teams, a great alliance and some eye candy. Just that ending...was so...gross to me even though I always love an underdog and can’t be too mad since I DID like Amy & Maya on TAR25 who are sort of equivalent in performance as Josh & Brent but, idk. It just felt odd to me that they won, it didn’t fit the narrative of the season and was just completely random, and not in a good way. Oh well, at least the story producers were able to create something with it, the underdogs beating the strong alliance.

at this point i really think tar should do a uturn rule for the second slot. as long as someone’s picture is on the board, you cant uturn the first user to negate the slot.

this strategy was invented on tar21 by miss natalie and nadiya anderson and while it was a very creative use of the power back then and she definitely deserves credit for changing the game, cases like brodie & kurt on tar28, vanck & ashton on tar29 and now eswar & aparna on tar32 really show how easy it is to just ‘game’ the system when you have friends and really want to get someone out.
