The tag from your denim jacket had been irritating you since the second you put it on but you chose to forget about it, often adjusting it with your nails or a little shimmy of your shoulders.
Holding the mic from Sky Sports F1 wasn’t all too odd for you, the broadcast team only handing it to you when talking about Lewis and his achievements. Your support for the Stevenage driver was strong, often being as labelled as biased but you couldn’t care less. The support was mutual between the two of you, usually lingering on the line of friendship but doubt and time was always against you.
Your sunglasses sat on your braided head with a bored expression on your face, just wanting to get this segment over with so that you could go back to your individual blogging and interviews. Standing patiently in front of the cameras while other reporters ran around unorganised, you played with your beaded ‘44’ bracelet.
“My goodness, Y/n! I have no clue how you are so calm, this is always so hard!” One of them exclaimed, laughing in the process. “Not to mention the outfit! You look like you could go to a party!” Another laughed, her smile faltering when your eyes snapped to her, expression never changing.
After a while, the segment began and off the reporters went on a scripted tangent about other teams before getting to the main topic; Lewis. “Now, onto a different subject, Lewis Hamilton’s performance in that car has been nothing short of a…disaster if I could say.” Jimmy said, deciding to look at you as he spoke. Almost as if he was challenging you.
“For a specific race weekend or overall? His teammate, George is doing significantly better. I don’t know what’s wrong with him, it’s like he doesn’t know how to drive.” Jennifer spoke, poorly making an attempt of a joke.
“I’m not too sure why you’re speaking as if he is a rookie. You lot can see that Mercedes hasn’t been doing well as a collective yet you’re targeting one driver who has brought then 8 constructer titles rather than the other who has one win.” Lifting your mic, you spoke with a clear voice, never stuttering.
Frank shook his head and tried to chuckle. “Look Y/n. We understand he’s your boyfriend or whatever but we need to be factual here. What Ferrari has done is a mistake by signing him. I mean, there needs to be more space for others and he’s taking up space.”
“And Alonso’s dusty ass doesn’t need to leave? Using my support for Lewis to try and justify your dislike for him is unprofessional. I have no clue how you have the gumption to say all this.” You responded, still not moving from your spot.
The other 4 reporters stared at you in shock along with other people stopping in the paddock, surrounding the space just in front of the official f1 hospitality suite.
“There’s no need to use aggressive language, Y/n.” Jennifer lifted her hand to place on your shoulder but you moved away in time. “Aggressive for who?” You challenged, tilting your head.
It had gotten quite. “The viewers. It’s not a lie, Lewis is just not good anymore. He needs to make space.” One of them spoke up but you couldn’t be bothered to listen to anyone else other than Frank, your eyes trained on him.
“What? We need to speak with the producers, having an independent journalist was a mistake.” Frank smirked.
“You can take your opinion and shove it up your ass. Thanks for having me, Sky Sports F1.” You turned to the camera to blow a kiss then you gave the mic you were holding to whoever would catch it.
Walking away from the set, you knew what you did was undeniably unprofessional but those people had always had a vendetta against Lewis and any reporter/journalist who support him. Breathing out, you sashayed your way through the paddock with people staring as your braids glided in the slight breeze.
The buzz of your phone shook you out of your racing mind, a little gasp escaping your mouth as you read the notification from instagram.
lewishamilton no joke, that was the best thing i’ve ever seen. glad we have that interview together in 5 minutes :)
You first looked around the paddock after reading that message but you figured that he watched it live just like everyone else did. Your anger for that segment had clouded your thoughts so much, you forgot about the interview you were supposed to have with the champion.
Rushing to the large luxurious paddock club, you received all types of looks from those who either clearly watched the broadcast live or they’re looking at your outfit, although the latter was made up in your mind.
Luckily, he hadn’t arrived to the designated room you booked to have the interview with him but as soon as you got your phone out to record and your notes, the screams and excitement were heard from outside the door and a smile couldn’t help but sneak on your face.
You have only interviewed him three times in your entire career but every time you did so, he never wanted it to end, always trying to make it longer by asking his own questions to you or just sharing a laugh.
With security opening the door for him, he entered the room and spotted you with a smile on his face. He entered alone in the mercedes shirt already on. No words needed to spoken by either of you, Lewis opening his arms for a hug to greet you. Once in his embrace, you thought it’d be quick but to your surprise, it lasted a few moments longer.
“Hi Y/n.” Lewis spoke, a hand still on your shoulder. You took a quick breath and immediately relaxed on the spot. “Hey Lewis.”
“Your response to Sky was insane but I liked it.” He chuckled, sitting across from you with his legs open and a ring clad hand sat comfortably on his lap.
You didn’t want to show him how the sight affected you especially when your emotions are sky high so you remained calm on the outside. “It’s just…I’m pretty sure I lost my job just now because of how I reacted.” You sighed out, flicking a few braids back.
“Some of them had said worse things so you’re okay.” Lewis responded, his tone wasn’t all too sure but he just wanted to lift your mood. “Yeah but I’m black. They used micro aggressions too.” You couldn’t help but chuckle at everything once recalling back to that moment.
“I heard. I’ll have a word with Sky.” He reassured you. “Oooh okay, Sir.” You joked, masking how the reassurance made your stomach flutter. You’d like to think he was openly flirting with you but you quickly put that thought at the back of your mind.
“I just don’t want those people to forget who you are, you know? I’m sure you hear this all the time. You know what you’re doing and you’re the best at it. I wanna remind the people who the goat is.” You rambled a bit, noticing his smile growing as he listened to you.
“You’re too kind, really. I know what I am, it’s just a little tough right now.” He shrugged as he fully leaned back into his seat. “If you need me to fight anybody in your team, let me know.” You winked, flashing a comical smile that made Lewis laugh.
Giving you a once over, Lewis leaned forward and rested his tatted arms on his knees. “You look good today. You always do but today…phenomenal.” He spoke, his voice noticeably relaxed. “Don’t make me blush, Sir.” You smiled, failing terribly at hiding your feeling.
“That nickname, Y/n,” He chuckled. “Is that door locked?” He asked. All you had to do was nod at the man and Lewis smirked, licking his lips in the process.
“C’mere.”

Footage has emerged of Khymani James, a student at Columbia University and a leading figure in the ongoing "Gaza Solidarity Encampment" at the college, making incendiary statements—including "Zionists don't deserve to live"—during a video he appeared to have recorded in January. The video was unearthed by the Daily Wire, a conservative-leaning media outlet, after which James posted a statement on X, saying: "What I said was wrong. Every member of our community deserves to feel safe without qualification." On social media, James' resurfaced remarks have sparked a backlash from users, with one writing: "The internet lives forever. We know your true feelings. You are a clear and present danger to all people."
On April 17, students at Columbia University established a protest camp, dubbed the "Gaza Solidarity Encampment," to demonstrate against ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza. Newsweek has contacted Khymani James and the Columbia University press office by X direct message and email, respectively, outside normal working hours. Thursday, the Daily Wire published a video of James making controversial remarks both during and after a virtual meeting with two Columbia University employees who expressed concern about earlier remarks he had made and indicated the matter could go to a disciplinary hearing.
In the statement James published after the footage went viral online, he said he regretted his remarks. He added: "I also want people to have more context for my words, which I regret. Far right agitators went through months of my social media feed until they found a clip that they edited without context. "When I recorded it, I had been feeling unusually upset after an online mob targeted me because I am visibly queer and Black."
Responding to James' statement, an X user wrote: "The clip is so egregious, you can't qualify it by saying 'well I felt bad and bad things were said to me.' Your statement also fails to say the word 'sorry.'" Another user commented: "What's up with pro Palestinians and their desire to kill? This is Khymani James, a leader of Columbia University's anti-Israel Gaza Solidarity Encampment. Just sick?" Earlier this week James organized a human chain to block a group of what he said were Zionists from entering the protest camp, urging protesters to take "one step forward" in unison and "push them out of the camp."
I'm very much do not like the Daily Wire and do not support their politics, philosophy, or views.
I do think, however, it is worthwhile to share the video they have of Khymani James statements. If there was another source that could provide this video I would use that instead of the Daily Wire, but unfortunately that is not the case.
Warning for antisemitism, Holocaust Inversion, and more.

Edit: (if anyone knows how to post it so the video plays directly in tumblr please either let me know or reblog this with that addition because ppl are more likely to watch it on tumblr then click the link, thank you)

Ever since they put Sam as Cap both in 2014 comics & setting it up in phase 3 MCU to now Marvel's been pushing really hard to "correct" Steve's legacy in only being Cap in name & being more of an anti-government rebel. With Sam as Cap they push hard to make Sam's Captain America a blaring patriotic jingoism ad with neoliberal representation... You'd never have seen Steve be the bodyguard of the president of the USA as a premise of a story 🙄
It's annoying in its own right because along with the America patriot propaganda it logically follows ofc for characters like Sabra & her terrorist actor to easily appear in these stories with some Zionist propaganda.
But it's just really annoying to put it lightly how much Marvel - ever since first putting Sam Cap to page in 2014 - worked overtime to undermine Steve's character making CW a de facto IM movie & painting Steve as in the wrong  for being against the US gov authority & overall stripping back & removing Steve's righteous anger at the US State for what they did with Shieldra, or how FATWS compares its enthusiastically patriotic protagonist to make Steve look retroactively worse
& likewise precluded Bucky's post-WS character arc entirely & retroactively demonized his character as the insufficiently patriotic & therefore untrustworthy one. His whole backstory setup in CATWS painted the US gov in a bad light & culpable via Shieldra, so ofc Bucky gets villainized in phase 3 & likewise FATWS paints Buck at fault for being a target of continuous state violence & institutionalization while Sam- an agent of the state, part of the literal USAF -is presented as moral center while telling Buck he deserves to be at the whim of the US state and blamed for WS crimes the gov funded via Shieldra. Bucky gets surveilled & arrested & monitored by the same US State which funded the supersoldier mindcontrolled assassin program they blame him for while Correctly Patriotic Uncle Sam is shown as a Good US Soldier by contrast while Bucky's story gets retconned & swept under the rug for being to inconvenient to the Patriotic direction they went in.
The propaganda really ramped up with the ink and pages of Sam Cap drying off & becoming their new brand, but marvel's audience who tbh enjoy lapping at the Mouse 's propaganda pool refuse to see beyond the superficial aesthetics which is WHY US media frequently & purposefully chooses these aesthetics & act like neoliberal representation in oppressive structures is radical or progressive.
Which makes all the performative shock over Sabra in BNW fall flat since Sam Cap as a Marvel rebrand is defined by doubling down on Cap as a patriotic literal agent & defender of the US government. Sabra's inclusion is entirely ideologically consistent with what Sam Cap is about FFS, in FATWS the only other character besides Bucky who was exploited by the US gov is Isaiah who CORRECTLY outlines the relationship btwn America & Black ppl & Sam wholly dismisses him as crazy! THAT is was SamCap is about: telling Black ppl to STFU & be patriotic Obama style, but ppl are acting like Sabra is "ruining" Sam's otherwise totally not at all propagandistic stint as a now more patriotic 🇺🇸flag laden hero while America funds multiple genocides as the USA has always done since it's inception.
I haven't watched the trailer (and tbh don't intend to... too depressing) so I can't really comment on specifics of this.
But I will say that I was thinking the other day how MCU's complete refusal to do any Cap character properly, but especially Steve, had the knock-on effect of making it impossible to do a SamCap well too.
Steve was supposed to be impoverished / multiply disabled / ideologically Antifa / feminist / pro-union / New Deal Democrat / Irish-Catholic / urban underdog, etc. And it would make perfect sense for a modern black man to accept the legacy of all that, if Steve had been adapted properly.
In deleting all that and assigning to the mantel what America represents instead, they've turned the shield from an honour into an albatross.
But it's still contradicting their own canon to do so.
Because even the de-yassified MCU Steve never embodied America; he merely set an example to America.
Isaiah should not plausibly believe Steve's shield represents something bad -- as someone who knows nothing about Captain America would -- as if MCU canon!Steve never did any of the good things he did with it.
(This could've been a beat addressed in the main Cap movies; eg. someone assumes Steve is a Republican and his baffled response is 'huh??!')
Following canon, Sam's logical response to that should've been 'wtf it doesn't mean any of that where did you get that from??' not 'yeah but I want to represent that anyway.'
Isaiah correctly lampooned what America's legacy is... but no one bothered to point out that's not what Steve and his shield have represented. Not even the landlord-white version of him we have in the MCU.
That failure makes a nonsense of Sam's entire friendship with Steve.
Why would Sam be friends with the willing bearer of America's bad legacy?
Why would a decent Steve be friends with someone who wants to represent a bad legacy (maybe EG Steve would!) and so on and so on.
Though I guess it's no dumber than Steve not killing Peggy on sight for colluding with Nazis for decades, huh? 😕
I'm looking forward to all the jokes Sam is going to make about Isaiah being a brainless killing machine (y'know, to show what bros they are?)
And when he comes out at the end of it and tells Isaiah he needs to "do the work" to apologise properly for what he did while controlled.
Or perhaps he will suddenly magically understand the concept of innocence, now? 🤔
Sam siding with the authorities might be sadly consistent with the spirit they've taken him in (I've pointed it out before, but it is IC for him to be, eg. a dick to Bucky. Yer man's been doing that since day one).
But it at the very least it contradicts Sam's canon to willingly guard Ross, a man who threw him in enhanced-people-Gitmo like a "common criminal," to paraphrase Sam himself.
(Hey, why would the man who threw Sam in prison later trust Sam to guard him? Is it just a set up to screw Sam over again? Okay, but why would Sam fall for something so openly implausible? Are they giving him the idiot ball?)
The MCU are masters of 'we don't understand what this action we've assigned the character actually shows about them.' Or when they are assigning character actions that contradict past actions.
And they sure as fuck don't know what made CATWS a good movie.

Hello! I read your tag about the SAH post and I agree with it! I didn’t realise how anti-black some people in the movement are and that takes away from the movement entirely (honestly there are some Asians that are super colourist and racist as hell so I’m not surprised.. and that sucks because we should be banding together as oppressed minorities)
From what I understand the goal of SAH is to attack the xenophobia the west has towards Asian people? Especially in wake of COVID-19 and the xenophobia people have towards Asian because of it. One example is how the west often see all Asians as one entity rather than recognise the different types of Asians there are — and as you said the Asian community is so diverse but it’s difficult to address each issue different Asian communities face when we are all treated as ‘Asians’ and not recognised by our specific ethnicities.
About the systemic racism part, I think it’s difficult to tackle that especially in western countries when many Asians being treated as 2nd class citizens, because there is this assumption that they are new immigrants, the colonialist mindset, and etc. Again, I believe that the root of the problem towards Asian hate stems from ignorance and xenophobia. So for the movement itself, I feel that it might seem like there is no solid goal because the campaign does not seem to tackle the main issue that Asians face but rather a recent manifestation of it? And of course, it definitely does not compare to the history of the BLM campaign.
I hope this ask doesn’t come off as aggressive, I just want to share my understanding of the situation and I look forward to hearing what you feel about this view point on my perspective as I want to open my understanding.
IN REGARDS TO MY TAGS OF THIS POST (OP is @rickgormortis I suggest you guys checking this post out!)
Hi hi Love !! 💗💗💗
First off, do not fret!! you did not come off as aggressive at all! I appreciate you and this message and your perspective! it’s great to open dialogue and talk freely with clear and open minds to possibly gain new perspectives and understanding of things 🌻☁️🦋🪐. Your ask presents a lot of opportunity to speak on different things and expand further on my own perspectives.
I would like to say that I have not conducted any research writing this out and everything stems from my own knowledge, observations and experiences so if I say anything wrong or misinformed, please let me know! Also some of this is not directed at you lol I just feel the need to expand in order to clearly articulate my thoughts so I hope u don’t feel that anything negative is targeted towards you!
I’m gonna start off by saying something that might sound controversial but just like OP said, if not for the work of BLM and especially when it start picking up a lot of traction last year, I don’t think SAH would be as big as it is now. In fact, I don’t think SAH would have been able to sustain itself for this long and would have died out quickly. The reason why it picked up to this level was because ppl see the movement as the asian version of BLM. Like I’ve heard ppl say “SAH is the new BLM” which is fucking stupid as hell but I digress. Ppl see BLM as a trend thus they see SAH as the “latest trend” to jump onto (which is... gross but unfortunately the truth). I think there would have been a call to attention of these hate crimes against e and se asian ppl spiking cause of COVID and definitely activism regarding this but the popularity of the movement itself (and maybe even it becoming a movement) is thanks to BLM. It was an indirect after effect that the work of BLM left (which has been going on for over a decade and continues to) so no matter how you go about it, SAH owes a lot to BLM’s hard work and dedication.
So many antiblack Asian ppl think activism is transactional. They pull out their “Anti-Asian cards” and whine false calls of hypocrisy when they see the attention and support BLM garnered in comparison to SAH... as if SAH didn’t only come to popularity as a result of BLM picking up globally and as if SAH hadn’t just been created last year (unlike BLM). They argue “if we supported you, why don’t you support us?” ACTIVISM ISN’T TRANSACTIONAL. You are supposed to support a movement because you genuinely care for the issues, the cause and the ppl involved. You do it because you want to help ppl that face terrible shit cause of oppressive systems. So to say “I did this now u have to help me” is inherently selfish because at the end of the day, you only supported the cause with the incentive of getting the support back. You only saw BLM as a trend and now that you are the centre of the latest “trend” you want the support. As OP stated, these asian ppl exploiting BLM as a guilty tool especially when SAH owes so much to BLM is just hypocritical, antiblack and gross. and this doesn’t even factor in the prominent antiblackness permeating the asian community as is. I actually wrote a post here calling out the influencer IAMKARENO for doing this - and she’s just one of so so so many on IG, Tik Tok and Twitter.
OP also brought up a fantastic point that BLM has been going on for YEARS. This means several years of organizing, of protest, of taking the streets, of fighting for policy and policy changes, of research, of grassroots efforts, of community-led initiatives, of education, of funding, of collective action etc. This also means activists being arrested, facing jail time, some have been injured or even killed. Blood, sweat and tears goes into this continuous fight. BLM has been fighting hard and hasn’t stopped fighting for years for their causes and for the betterment of Black Lives - the way Asian ppl call the Black community hypocrites for “not supporting SAH” and even ACCUSE them of committing the violence is like spitting in their faces. I mention this later on, but SAH has only started and has barely done anything - the AUDACITY for these ppl to want the movement to be on the same level as BLM without putting in the hard work, the time and the effort and then BLAMING them is disgusting. They have helped us enough when they didn’t even have to - it’s up to us now to actually put in the work and time. OP called SAH a rip-off of BLM and I agree - SAH is trying to follow the same formula but with no depth and lack of substantial efforts. If SAH wants to be a real movement it has to keep pushing forward in its own way and stop trying to imitate and want the same results as BLM. Cause rn it honestly seems like asian ppl put in more effort in asking and guilt-tripping ppl for support than doing any work as if others are supposed to do the work for us.
(also whoever claims that it’s primarily Black ppl committing the hate crimes I hope you get your ass beat. Like I hope someone manifests into ur house and beats you to a pulp for spreading that racist and completely false garbage. I’ve seen that narrative floating around and not only is it a blatant LIE but it demonizes Black ppl further and pushes harmful antiblack narratives. you will burn in hell if u spread that shit around I guarantee it.)
Onto my next point - as a movement, what exactly is the goal of SAH? What does it do and how does it help? you brought up many fantastic points - Stop Asian Hate became a movement as a response to hate crimes against e and se Asian ppl and them being scapegoated as the cause of COVID-19. Diving deeper, we realize these hate crimes occur because ppl see e and se asian ppl as the cause of covid because of the perpetual foreigner narrative (in which we will always be seen as too foreign for the West and never belonging) and this weird orientalist view that e and se asian ppl eat weird things which caused COVID. It’s the narrative that we are too strange, too foreign and too weird thus, we deserve to be dehumanized cause our foreignness is threatening. Stop Asian Hate also brings to attention racism and ignorance against Asian ppl in general and calls out both the explicit and implicit ways it manifests in Western society (as u perfectly stated). And u r right that racism against e and se asian ppl manifests so much differently than other forms - a lot of it is rooted in racism and ignorance. however, SAH only addresses racism against e and se asian ppl on a personal level AND only addresses the E and SE asian communities (thus conflating the term “Asian” with only those communities when many others exist). simultaneously, ppl have criticized the establishment of a “pan-asian” movement because we are all so diverse and face different obstacles (as u have mentioned).
many asian ppl have expressed their dislike of the usage “stop asian hate” and instead prefer “protect asian lives”. This is because stopping asian hate isn’t a long term goal because the way the movement is framed right now, the solution is actually quite easy. To stop asian hate all u literally have to do is stop hating asian ppl. Stop committing hate crimes and stop being racist towards asian ppl and all is solved. But that only addresses individual racism which yes, may lead to asian ppl feeling more accepted within their personal communities but doesn’t actually address anything systemically. Tik Tok user @haileyych (I suggest following them they r super well spoken and great at covering issues!) also points out that SAH allows for framing the issue as “Black vs. Asian” (which many Asian and White ppl have succumbed to thinking) thus ignoring the white institutions that enforce violence against Asian ppl. Because even if we were to rid the world of racism and ignorance against asian ppl, there are still systems put into place that actively oppress them.
Here’s Haileyych’s video that perfectly explains this point: VIDEO !!!
When we speak of systemic racism, we mean dismantling systems of oppression that push these harmful stereotypes narratives and that present social, economic and legal obstacles for asian ppl. Where does the perpetual foreigner narrative come from and how is it embedded into and enforced by our institutions? How does our education system and the immigration system and the military for example, harm and oppress asian ppl - and when I mean asian I mean west, North, central, south, southeast and East Asian ppl? There are so much bigger factors here at play when we take into account historical and political contexts that help us fully understand what harms asian ppl. Thus, we need to “protect asian lives” rather than just “stop asian hate.”
Unlike SAH, we can see how BLM actually tackles systemic racism through efforts in the legal system, prison abolition, defunding and abolishing the police, housing, social services etc. BLM not only addresses individual antiblack racism and police brutality but also calls out these oppressive institutions that actively work to marginalize the black community. Not only that but BLM was officially established in 2013 and has been working so hard for their issues and their cause - they deserve every piece of recognition and support they have received and more. SAH (or moreso Protect Asian Lives) can only rlly become its own movement once it actually establishes its own goal by working on dismantling its own oppressive systems - and I’m not saying this to compare the two. this is the main purpose of a social movement. they are meant to empower people and enact change - and real change starts by addressing and targeting the system. By lacking this vital part, SAH is barely a movement. But as my mutual @vanillasoylent has mentioned (sorry btw lol by the time I finally publish this it would have been a long time since then) SAH has actually gained an increase in police funding in efforts to stop these hate crimes - which really goes to show how SAH’s focus is mistargeted. SAH contributing and supporting a system that actively works to oppress the black community (and in general is an authoritarian force that works solely for the interest of the state) for its own gain is antiblack and terrible. This is not real activism and this is not what a social justice movement should support. This is why I cannot stress enough that POC solidarity, as nonexistent as it is, is one of the most important and imperative factors for protect asian lives. We must be pro-black and support the black community whilst resisting and fighting against white supremacy to truly get this movement going - not constantly pointing fingers at the Black community when they don’t owe us a single thing.
Elaborating more on the vitality of POC Solidarity, systems that affect Asian ppl also affect other racialized minorities. We do not face these obstacles in the same way but we do suffer under these same oppressive systems. For example, the immigration system does not only affect immigrants from Asia but also immigrants from Africa, South America, Central America and North America etc. (we saw this recently with asylum seekers from Haiti facing inhumane violence at the US border). I will elaborate more on systems of oppression that oppress asian ppl later on, but u will see that these systems do not only affect asian ppl but many other communities.
That is not to say I think SAH is useless. I think u r absolutely correct that SAH is doing good things for the asian community - they have brought attention to implicit and explicit racism on an individual level against asian ppl and uplift fantastic asian-led initiatives that address intracommunity issues such as mental health or organizations that help sex workers, LGBTQIA+ Asian ppl etc. they have also brought attention to how the media portrays harmful racist tropes and stereotypes of Asian ppl that get permeated into society and in turn, affect us as a human beings. It’s a good starting point. Racism and ignorance on an individual level are good to address but where do we jump to after? Or rather, we can dismantle oppressive institutions AND address personal racism simultaneously. SAH as it is now lacks sustainability and real depth - it needs to have long-term goals in place for the betterment of the wellbeings of all asian ppl. OP stated this so clearly and perfectly in their post and we can see its clear shallow nature thru just one look at the SAH tag; see how it is pinned at number 2 but there are barely any new posts in it? And even if there are, they don’t say anything substantial just the basic “DON’T BE RACIST TO ASIAN PPL!”, irrelevant selfies using the tag for clout or supporting the racist incel from Shang Chi (that is... a whole other can of worms in itself). The only substantial ones are old ones that pertain to Free Palestine, gofundmes etc.
Now u may be wondering, what institutions are there for us to dismantle? There’s colonialism such as the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine for example. There’s post-colonialism and dismantling its harmful after effects such as the British occupation in India, colonization of the Philippines by Spain etc. There’s imperialism such as American imperialism in Afghanistan, Iraq, the Philippines, South Korea etc. There’s labour exploitation of workers in developing countries (ex. mass production of fast fashion) such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, Sri Lanka etc. There’s the sex tourism and trafficking industry that has brought upon the harmful fetishization of asian women that occurs in Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines etc. and the exploitation of poor Asian women. there’s the immigration system that has enforced violent borders and made immigration so expensive and difficult for all asian ppl to immigrate here despite western countries invading many Asian countries, killing their ppl and taking whatever resources they want. there’s the inhumane abuse of refugees and asylum seekers where they are detained, abused and forced to live in terrible conditions for merely trying to seek a better life. There’s national security which actively works to target ppl from the Middle East, South Asia and North Africa (ex. No-fly list in Canada, Airport checks, security certificates etc.). There’s racist and/or islamophobic policies such as the restrictions of wearing the hijab in Quebec (I’m from Canada so I know more canadian examples). And of course, the media, politics (especially propaganda such as red scare) and the education system, which still perpetuate harmful stereotypes and teach racist narratives to this day. These are some of the systems that oppress asian ppl and these are what protect asian lives should be working to dismantle to work towards reaching a goal of protecting asian lives everywhere on top of dismantling racism, xenophobia and the perpetual foreigner narrative.
Overall, as I said in my tags, SAH is mostly boba liberalism (especially with these weird calls to support Shang Chi when Simu Liu is an antiblack incel and p*do apologist that has said homophobic things and Awkwafina is infamous for being antiblack, for the sole purpose of “Asian representation”) at the moment. SAH as it is now, still allows and perpetuates antiblackness whether it be antiblack asian ppl thinking activism is transactional, blaming the black community for violence or supporting “asian representation” that is antiblack in nature or has antiblack elements. It only calls for dismantling racism and xenophobia on a personal level and still has a long way to go even in this regard (ex. Inclusion of all Asian groups, addressing intracommunity issues). In order to become a real sustainable movement that calls for revolution and change, it must put in the work to dismantle oppressive systems - and MUST support Black Lives.
Thank u for this ask and I hope this made sense! So sorry it took me MONTHS to write this out lol and I hope you see this. Have a lovely day anon ! 💗

white ppl that refuse to date other white ppl and go “I’m only into POC uwu they are so ethnic and beautiful ~” (which yeah true... but u can tell when ppl say things in a weird objectifying way or to gain woke points) “white ppl are so bland and probably racist unlike me” ... as if they aren’t those very bland white ppl...
screams very much “weird exoticization & fetishization of POC” & “I HATE WHITE PPL DESPITE BEING A WHITEY, I’M NOT LIKE THE OTHER WHITES” when they are...
trying to distance urself from other whites when u still benefit from white privilege and global white supremacy is not the woke card u think it is !

Playing thru quest sagas (ex. the Orb sagas) alongside someone is always so fun, especially when they join your party. To this day I replay the darkness orb quests cause I loved bonding w/Artix lol (my favourite is The Body Shop). Another one I liked was playing Sir Ano’s quests (he stands outside of Oaklore Keep), cause I got to fight with him and he came along with me on the quests. I also enjoyed the Ice orb quests with Galanoth (tho the kilguin arena was the worst quest I had ever done. I sat there for HOURS trying to finish it).
to this day I refuse to fight w/o artix and take personal offense when monsters/villains target him lol

I was super hyped to watch Gremlita/Mina Le’s video on the cultural outfit depictions in Raya and the Last Dragon and I really loved it! It was super well-researched and Mina put in so much in-depth work in searching for the origin and historical connotations of every outfit piece. She did such an amazing job! I learned so much about each outfit she analyzed and seeing so much homage to traditional Khmer outfits (including those of the royal ballet) and not even realizing it at first was eye-opening.
anyways if u r interested in SE Asian history and culture and/or Raya and the Last Dragon you should definitely check it out!

The thing is black people in the USA do care about Latin America and we just don’t like to support posts that throw us under the bus for no reason. No where has anyone said we don’t care about what you’re going thru. In fact I went and checked at all the people who mentioned the post was antiblack and all of their blogs had posts talking about Colombia and Mexico and what’s going on. We wanna help, we just don’t want to be treated like crap either cuz we get that enough from non black ppl. Anyway, I’m sorry you keep getting nasty asks and I hope things improve for your country soon.
thank you for this ask, truly. i'm gonna put the explanation under a read more bc this is?? going to be long.
the thing is that the post wasn't made targeting black people. that's it. i literally said "issues" in the general sense of the word, while thinking about things like the california fire, the water problem in flint, michigan, so many many posts about laws and bills that violate the rights of americans, that we supported you thru. we cheered you during elections as well despite knowing that biden is gonna fuck us over as well because there is a big problem in your country called "imperialism" that you need to acknowledge as well. your political actions aren't exclusive of your country, they affect latinoamerica too. but none of you see or acknowledge that. so please, and i say this politely, usamericans (all of you, including latines born in the us) need to take a step back and realize that there is a context behind my words and that "issues" doesn't mean black people fighting for their rights. all the people that called my post anti-black chose to see it that way. that is the reality of this. you took my words, stripped them from the context, decided to run with it and now there are around 15 asks in my inbox from people describing in detail how i should die and how they wish to kill me for using the word "issues" instead of making a list of problems for you when you already should know which were problems we mean. no matter the color of your skin, you need to be aware of your words and actions and how they affect others too.
and no, because i've seen people saying it, i am not talking down to anyone. i'm describing the reality latinoamerica lives in, that i live in, but you are the ones that chose to ignore it and continue to live in a bubble. being american, no matter the color of your skin, IS a privilege you don't see, but we do see it and we live in real life and in online spaces and in situations like this one. don't you wonder how is it that latines see my post and reblog it commenting "yes, please, it's our turn, please help us"?? you need to ask yourself why is that, not call us racist and run with it
as for the real context of the post, it was made in in regards to the way usamericans have been hypocrites towards us in times of need for YEARS. i've been on this site for 5 years, and my latine mutuals speaking out have been here for longer than me. it's a collective thing, and yes, this does include black people, because again, being american IS a privilege, being from and living in a first world country IS a privilege. and the reality is that all conversations we've had of this have been shut down with the same explanations and excuses. and you continue to silence us when we talk about it. and yes, there are people reblogging, if they know they are helping and they know this post is NOT being targeted at you, then why do they come ad do this?? why do they come and make fun of our suffering and pain??
please go look at the amount of posts of colombians begging for help and look at the amount of notes. my post is the only one of the few above 10k notes, not to mention 20k notes. there might be another one w the same amount of notes as this one that started up as discourse to go against me. but the rest?? people don't see them, they're ignored. my og post was a direct reaction to it, that's why it sounds guilt trippy. and it is guilt trippy, because i want you to open your eyes and if that's what it takes?? i will do it. i don't need to "tone down" my suffering. and this context?? all latinoamericanos in the notes understood it, they live it, they see it. that's why they talk about it with me too.
we don't want to fight, we want understanding, we want to be heard and acknowledged. so many people are dying not only by our governments but also by covid. there is a whole problem with vaccines and there are so many tone deaf posts from usamericans about getting vaccinated when third world countries don't have access to them. we need to be heard too. we're asking for help and for acknowledgment of these issues as well as acknowlegdement of the usamericans play in it

bonus: i am all of me | shawn mendes
university au, shawn x goth oc
AN: the goth gf series is now a finalist in the @shawnblrficawards which is???? so fucking wild??? ppl care abt my story??? so yeah, to celebrate HERE IS A THROWBACK by throwback i mean this takes place in the university days, before the shawn meets series
goth gf masterlist | vote for goth gf maybe? | shawn meets masterlist
For someone who deviates the norm on a regular basis, I hung out with a lot of normal people. Most of my “goth” friends were back home in California, and the only “goth” friend I had here in Toronto was Patrick Markowski. He preferred not to be around the normies I hung out with, so it was just me against the world sometimes.
It’s not like I meant for my friend group to end up like this. At first, my only normal friend was Stella. But Stella was friends with Camila, who was friends with Shawn, who had been dating me for the last three months. Shawn was quite popular around campus, and he was always seen talking to someone. People liked him, and he loved people. I preferred laying low and being invisible, even though that was hard to do.
I was always in black lace, fishnets, platforms, or all of the above. I was rarely caught without my hair in my face or my signature winged liner. Putting me next to a normal guy was odd, and that wasn’t hard to notice. If Shawn introduced me to a stranger, that stranger always had the mildly disapproving stare. Not to mention, one of his friends just viewed me as the target to playfully bully.
When it came from the group of normal people I hang around with, it’s fine. Shawn’s best friend, Brian, constantly took the piss out of me. It was our primary form of communication at this point. I wear black, I steal souls and drink virgin blood. I can joke about it too. I actually liked it sometimes. It was fun to joke about my plan to steal Shawn’s heart and sacrifice it to Satan. Just girly things, y’know?
There’s something I didn’t appreciate, though. And it didn’t come from Brian or Shawn or anyone, really. It came from my own pride and lack of brain cells. It took one random game of Odds On with Camila that brought me face to face with a monstrosity and the realization that I may take this goth thing more seriously than I thought.
Camila was grinning as she held up the pink, ruffly dress. “You’re gonna look so pretty.”
Behind her, Stella was giggling. She witnessed the Odds On and was there to make sure I kept my word.
The dress was short sleeved, and the ruffles made a very poofy skirt. The pink was a horrifying pastel that made my skin crawl. I didn’t mind colors as long as I’m wasn’t the one wearing them.
“What dumpster did you pull that out of?” I asked.
“Forever 21!” Camila happily replied, laying the dress down on my bed.
“And you literally just bought this today?”
“Yup! You can keep it after as a token of my friendship.” She stuck her tongue out. “So, from sun up to sun down tomorrow, you have to wear this. And I have to see you at least once so I know you didn't cheat! No changing either!”
I always kept my word, almost to a fault. That’s why I didn’t bring up the knot in my stomach, or the dread hanging on my shoulders to anyone. I didn’t mention how pushing someone out of their comfort zone could do more harm than good. It was just a silly little bet. It was just clothing. I shouldn’t have been so worried about it.
That didn’t exactly stop me from telling Shawn about it over FaceTime. I kept my frustrations on a low simmer, knowing that Camila was one of my boyfriend’s friends.
“So don’t do it,” Shawn told me. “It’s a meaningless bet, right?”
“But I made a promise, and Camila already spent money at Forever fucking 21!”
“Mm, you do hate that store.”
“So much… Fuck, I’m actually dreading tomrrow.”
“Aw, babe…” He looked at me for a moment. “What if you fake sick? It’ll be believable since you get sick a lot.”
I hummed. “I’d have to wear it the next day. The point is for me to look stupid and out of character in public.”
“What if you accidentally damage the dress?”
“She’ll know I did it on purpose, and then I’d end up owing her…” I reached for the flimsy fabric on the floor and found the tag. “Thirty-five dollars?!”
Shawn didn’t say anything for a second. “Well… at least you look cute in pink!”
That made me groan in annoyance. No one seemed to get it. “It doesn’t matter how cute I look! It’s not my color! I’m gonna look so out of it and, and... “ I sighed and threw the dress back on the floor.
~
A deep pit formed in my stomach overnight. I wished it was enough to keep me bedridden, but the dress was going to be worn no matter what. I got ready for my morning classes as I normally did. Intense liner, black lipstick, kept my hair down. Put the dress on and paired it with my combat boots. Once I looked as least uncomfortable as could be, Stella came knocking on the door.
“Let me see, let me see!”
I couldn’t even fake a smile as I opened the door. Actually, I scowled at my roommate, who had her phone out. The flash went off, and I immediately used my bedroom door to shield myself.
“No pictures!” I snapped.
“Oh come on! Camila has to see that you followed through!” Stella replied. When I ignored her, she sighed. “Okay, my phone is in my pocket! And we’ll see Camila later today, anyway!”
I poked my head out the door, making sure my roommate kept her word. Still, nothing could really make this better. Well, apart from getting rid of the stupid dress.
"Let's get today overwith," I mumbled, slinging my bag over my shoulder.
Thankfully, Camila forgot to get a matching coat for today's look, so I found refuge in my leather jacket. That made going to classes a little easier, but I still felt out of place and just… not good. No one in my classes cared about how I looked, and that was fine. The permanent scowl on my face kept the guys in gaming club from saying anything at all too. My problem wasn't the fear of being singled out and made fun of. That happened when I dressed normally, I was immune to that.
Trust me, I was very aware of how dramatic I looked all the time. I knew just how odd I looked with my group of normal friends and my normal boyfriend. That's just how I am, and that's probably what bugged me. I was blending in too much, and it was so far from me that I wanted to jump out of my own skin.
Every part of me wanted to just fuck off to my dorm after my psychology class, but I had to remember my promise to Camila. She had to see for herself that I followed through. She sent a text asking to meet her at one of the picnic tables on the courtyard, and I knew damn well it wasn't going to be just her.
The distaste on my face was amusing to Camila, Stella, Brian, and Connor as I approached the table. I had my arms folded as their faces lit up in shock.
"Well, aren't you a ray of sunshine?" Camila giggled. "I can't believe you did it!"
I only chewed the inside of my cheek. Then, I turned to Brian, who was beside himself with silence. It's better than laughing in my face, I suppose.
"Go ahead, lay it on me," I told him.
"I would," he replied, "but Shawn…"
"Huh?"
The other three at the table were nodding in agreement. Camila pointed behind me, so I looked.
My jaw dropped.
There he was, six foot something in the exact same pink, ruffled dress as me. The top half of the dress was tight over his broad chest, it probably didn't zip all the way. The skirt was very short, showing a lot of Shawn's thighs. He bounded over to the table like nothing was out of the ordinary.
"Hey guys," he greeted, slinging his arm around me.
I was still caught with my mouth open at the sight of him.
"Oh my god," Camila said, floored.
"Well, don't we look pretty?" Brian said with a laugh.
"I'm always pretty, thanks," Shawn replied, dramatically running his fingers through his hair.
I was still silent. I didn't even know where to begin: The fact that the top half of the dress was one wrong move away from ripping? The fact that Shawn was on the receiving end of Brian's roasting? The fact that Shawn heard my mindless venting and took matters into his own hands? Or the fact that he did this shit instead of simply bringing me a bigger jacket? There was just too much to unpack here.
That, and a new appreciation for this guy I was dating. My shocked expression had morphed into a soft grin the longer I watched him casually talk with his friends.
It was a thoughtful(?) gesture, but it didn't fix anything.
~
I followed Shawn home like a lost puppy at the end of the school day. Apart from teasing thigh touches, neither of us had properly talked about our matching attire. Shawn talked about everything no matter what, so this was a little strange.
It was strange because I wanted to talk about it.
"So," I began when we were in his car, although I quickly realized I didn't know how to go about this. "Um… what the fuck?"
Shawn glanced at her once as he pulled out of the parking lot. “Huh?”
I gestured to the outfit, an expectant look on my face.
“Oh, that,” he said. “I figured you wanted the attention off of you.”
“So you got the same dress?”
“I got the same dress.”
There was a pause as I looked at him, a half smile on my face. My brain was still having trouble processing the fact that he did this… for me. Or, at all.
“Well…” I trailed off, pushing away the cheesy words threatening to spill out. “...that was pretty cool. Thanks.”
Shawn reached across the center console and took my hand. “You sounded pretty upset on FaceTime. I just wanted to make it a little easier for you.”
“It’s no big deal.”
He opened his mouth to say something else, but decided against it.
“What?” I asked. You can’t just do that and expect me not to question it.
Apparently, that was all Shawn needed for him to spill. “You made it seem like it was the end of the world. You kept saying that you had to follow through, but you weren’t happy about it at all. Even for a meaningless bet. I’m just wondering why.
“Uh…”
“You don’t have to tell me, of course,” he quickly added. “Whatever you want. I can listen, or we can pretend like this day never happened.”
If he had been looking at me and not the road, then this would have been an easy choice. Forget everything and burn the dress. But there was no eye contact in this vehicle. The words that had piled up in my throat since the bet finally started to spill out.
"Not to be all, 'it's not a phase mom,'" I began, "but the chokers, the dark makeup, and the skulls? It's all I am. It's apart of me. I was in black onesies as a baby. That whole subculture is my sense of belonging. The dark, creepy shit the mainstream world hates is my happy place. And it was taken away from me today.”
“So why didn’t you explain that to Camila? She would have understood.”
“I didn’t say anything because I would have gotten upset. Or worse, I would have cried.” I sighed. “Besides, it’s just clothing. It’s all vanity. It’s stupid for someone to throw a fit over things like that.”
I kept my eyes out the window. Shawn gently squeezed my hand to get me to turn back to him.
“It’s not stupid,” he told me. “You said it’s where you belong, and there’s nothing stupid about that. If how you express yourself is important to you, then no one can tell you otherwise.”
Oof, there’s that sting in my throat. I placed my free hand on top of his. “No offense to your friend, but if she wasn’t so taken with my friend, I would have clocked her for suggesting this in the first place.”
Shawn chuckled, then paused. “Wait. Taken with? Camila is taken with Stella?”
I shrugged. “I don’t know. They seem close, I just didn’t wanna start anything with Camila, for Stella's sake."
"Gotcha. So…" Shawn's tone indicated that the subject was changing. "You gonna let me rip that dress off of you when we get to my place?"
"Mm… yeah."

Hey lads Arden here to yell about media
Tl;dr as seen in the example of the female ghostbusters remake the way many progressives react to bad media produced by women/people of colour is super reductive and does nothing to address the root issues of how some people view media.
As always I encourage constructive discussion on my posts! :D
Look. There’s people out there that think media made by women or poc is inherently bad. We’re online, we know this, we’ve seen it. And I personally believe a lot of the way we respond to it (as a whole, I’m sure there’s progressives who don’t respond this way) is counterproductive and unhelpful, as shown by the debate around the female ghostbusters movie.
Let’s get this out of the way first. The female ghostbusters movie wasn’t a particularly good movie. That doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with liking it, I personally enjoy a lot of bad or mediocre media. But the movie being bad has nothing to do with it being co-written by a woman, or its stars being women.
The issue then, is that of course there were dudes out there going “wow the ghostbusters movie sucks lmao, movies with women are shit”. And the issue is that instead of going “yeah this movie is shit, but it’s one movie lmao what’s ur point how the fuck are you relating it to all women?” some of us went “actually ur wrong and it’s a good movie.”
The problem here is that we’re allowing the assholes to frame the debate. Because, and I know it isn’t any of our intents, this still keeps the framing as “the ghostbusters remake is a standin for all female-centric media rather than just one movie”. Even though you’re coming at it from a position of supporting women, it’s still conflating the two. The conversation is still one movie with women = all movies with women in terms of quality, and I think that’s a huge mistake to make. Same with bad movies written/directed by or starred in by people of colour. Don’t let the assholes frame the conversation.
At this point I have a confession to make: like most of my meta posts this one came from a conversation/me venting in discord to my wonderful and long suffering friends, and @godhatescrackers pointed out that:
“A big problem with bad movies that just happen to be made by women or have a mostly female cast is that people will say that is the source of their badness. not bad plotting or characterization or anything that would be taken into account with a mostly white male cast. So I don't know if saying "here are some good movies made by/mostly about women" would work, because many of them will think it's bad regardless. Marvel hasn't done shit for women. but black widow even being able to hold her own against men pissed a lot of guys off. marginalized folks aren't allowed to be anything more than side characters who don't affect the plot much. not saying that there was never any valid critique of black panther, just that a lot was rooted in racism ”
@lilquill added:
“yeah I think that’s what’s hard is they already have a clear bias against women. Like I don’t think a lot of those ppl think it’s bad bc of actual movie quality reasons but rather just bc it’s made by women”
And these are both great points because yeah! There’s absolutely shitheads out there who do think that only cishet white men can make good media and that is absolutely not a bias it’s easy to fight against/tackle. So no, I don’t think what I’ve mentioned here will work against them.
But, because this post wasn’t already long enough, here’s where I want to get into a key point about these sorts of media discussions: they aren’t targeted at the bigots. Which, I know, that’s the person you’re arguing with? Why wouldn’t you target it at them?
Well, smarter and more educated on the topic people than me have gone into this, such as @innuendostudios in his Alt-Right Playbook youtube series that you should absolutely watch, but basically when you’re arguing with a bigot, they aren’t arguing at you or trying to convince you. They’re trying to convince the undecided audience. So if you’re trying to convince the bigot, rather than joining them in trying to convince the audience, you’ve already lost.
The whole point, in my opinion, in showing examples of objectively good/strong media made by minorities or bad/mediocre media made by white men is that hopefully your audience thinks “huh, maybe I’ll check that out” and that your audience also stops considering work made by one woman or person of colour to be representative of all work made by women or people of colour.
Anyways in conclusion, I think what Cosmic and Sakshi brought up is super important re: looking at our own views on media. IE when we judge a piece of media made by a women or a person of colour, are we judging it more harshly than we would media made by a white man? Because not to be all “we live in a society” but.... we live in a society, and have biases as a result of that. And just because we aren’t as out there with them as the bigots, doesn’t just remove that.

I’m sorry that you’ve already talked about this before, but can I just say I’m so tired of people being sympathetic to cis white men because they had a “tragic backstory” which automatically means they’re absolved of all their current violence/abuse-tendencies :/ Like someone literally defended Billy (ST) because anti’s hate him because he had a bad life, like no, poc, especially black people hate him because he’s a racist asshole who abuses his sister and targets her friends, especially Lucas
hey!
at this point, i have a theory that a lot of these characters resonate with fans because they see themselves (or other people in their personal lives?) in them in some form. i remember dealing with another fandom and i got a lot of “they remind me of (insert person they know here)”. either that or they always referenced someone familial. in the ftwd fandom, there’s a character who’s literally a white supremacist sociopath that kills native people and a girl once told me that she knew troy otto “did bad things” but she loved him because he reminded her of her father and that it would be wrong for anyone to be against him because he’s her dad. i was baffled. another person mentioned a male relative being hospitalized (also for sympathy after being called out) and said that he brings her happiness because she was having a tough time. i can understand looking to the SHOW for comfort, but a racist character? i personally, don’t get it. one even told me that he reminded her of herself and that she had changed since then, so he deserved a chance. as if it was a good thing??? im like, girl ur still stanning him prior any “change”, so you’re still on board with a full-fledged racist atm. like, they dont hear themselves.
there are people who literally admire billy, characters like him, and would defend them to their grave. the number one excuse is that it’s harmless “because they’re fictional” but what folx don’t seem to realize is that they normalize defending that real-life behavior (as long as it’s from a white person to be more specific). i also feel like its because they don’t like the throw-them-away-if-they’re-trash mentality, because a lot of them are probably guilty of it (like how i mentioned before with the girl and her racist dad). they feel that racists, like them or their relatives, shouldn’t be shown resentment for being toxic.
i think it’s just really weird to look at characters like billy and make excuses for them and the ppl who like them certainly know that. they just don’t care. when it comes to reasons like finding characters interesting or complex, that’s different and understandable because there are certainly trash characters that bring story and baggage. and when they die or w/e in the end, the least we can say is that they added to the story. but to be wailing, making petitions, and saying they deserved better? sis i– and living a shitty life is not an excuse. a lot of people have lived shitty lives and don’t turn out like that, so give the “his daddi was mean to him :(” excuse a rest lol. tbf, its not even just about billy, to me, it’s just about normalizing that kind of behavior. we see it done every day (cough cough youtube influencers & mass shooters)
edit: also, i would like to add that sometimes its that AND cuz they find the actor cute or whatever

Trump is going after the black vote. He truly believes he can get 25% of the black vote to remain President. This truly frightens me because he is targeting two vulnerable sectors of the blk vote which is older blk men who don't think wm especially blk wm should lead and the young blk generation who doesn't care abt ancestry and just fades and here and now. We should b worried cause he had 8% of the blk male vote and could possibly get some of the younger blk generation vote. This what angers qnd scares me most is blk ppl like Kanye West who is so far removed from the blk community telling blk ppl how to vote what party is not for them. When everyday we see racist bigoted rhetoric from Trump and the Republicans. We saw how they treated Obama. See this is also why when ppl ask the question why can't we let blk men lead our community cause they prove time and time again their loyalty isn't to the blk community at all. I looked it 8 to 11 percent of blk men didn't vote for Stacey Abrams that is alot. I look at how many r against Kamala Harris a lot. Black community we can't be fooled by Trump lies. He hasn't done anything for our community. His whole existence is rooted n racism and bigotry. He has bern sued numerous of time for discrimination. He took out full page ads to get 5 innocent blk men executed although they were proven innocent and to this day still hasn't apologized. He was the biggest birther saying our first blk President wasn't American. Black community we r can't b this gullible. Blk Youth Blk millennials u can't b this gullible. Older generation stop looking for a white savior especially when u have a viable blk wm as a choice. Blk community we r smarter than to fall for fools gold from a liar con artist bigoted racist

so like
idk this is a topic i feel like i should say more about but i’m tired rn so this is what u get
increasing class sizes, presuming you could link that directly to a decrease in quality of outcomes in education, is dumb and short-sighted. education, especially in k-12, is one of the safest and best long term investments and state actor can make, no questions asked. in cutting it, presuming class sizes actually do actually cause disengagement or worse outcomes (not a huge leap), you run the risk of increasing crime rates (delinquent youth - in-class engagement, extra-curriculars, and economic opportunity brought about by success in education all have been show to decrease crime rates [iirc, citing things when ur hunched on a roadcase is a little beyond me rn but if u want citations i can provide]) and decreasing flow of graduates to jobs that require ppl with higher education, either stymieing broader economic growth or forcing them to look elsewhere and bring ppl in either interprovicnially or internationally, which i get the impression isn’t the outcome foug dord seeks, were he asked.
cutting bursaries falls under the same category in my opinion; it is, broadly speaking, a good use of gov’t money to offer money for higher education. the increased income tax revenue over the person’s lifetime would likely more than pay for it, even in a zero sum game where the gov’t doesn’t also benefit from a more educated overall populace/workforce (which they fucking do). again, long term substantial benefit being sacrificed for short term gain in the name of deficit reduction (which i’ll... get to)
library funding is just a kick in the fucking teeth tbh, but if i have to address it seriously, libraries’ benefits are similar to that of higher school engagement; lowering crime rates as otherwise delinquent youths, poor families etc have a place for their children to spend time safely and productively. besides their use as a repository for local history (which i’m sure ford’s rural base would approve of if they realized it was there, but he’s from etobicoke and therefore doesn’t give a shit), they host events, help educated local children, represent the most freely available source of learning to low-income individuals, and offer a safe space to the public during business hours. for how much money they consume, cutting them is almost always a bad idea, regardless of province or country.
cutting OHIP coverage is dumb. single payer pharmacare is good. for reasons why see the folllowing:
suck my dick
for real tho i know my man wants to privatize health care in this province i done seen it in his eyes IRL.
and as a serious answer: those whose drugs you know longer pay for will likely burden the system in another way later down the line, and that’s usually much more expensive. unless he plans to defund ERs as well (which doesn’t exist anywhere, even private systems, which is why private systems are dumb; you turn people away until they’re literally dying, do an extremely expensive procedure to save them because you’re practically ethically obligated to, and then hit them with the bill, which they can’t pay any of, or they would’ve fixed it earlier. they go bankrupt, but you can’t squeeze blood from a stone either. everyone loses) preventative care, even ancillary care like non-essential pharma, is cheaper long-term than waiting for someone to be more expensive and more necessary to fix. you could split hairs about which are necessary and which aren’t or what have you, but quite frankly those administrative costs plus the quality of life downgrade ppl get from an obtuse pharmacare system means that it’s probably easier to just pay for it all. and THEN GUESS WHAT
you’re fucking single payer now. congratulations. want access to a market of 14 million? gotta negotiate with OHIP on drug prices now. fuck you.
it’s literally more economically efficient for everyone except drug manufacturers, whose profit margins are so economically aberrant that they can kinda go fuck themselves. like it’s the exact kind of thing taxes exist for: something that can be accomplished better, cheaper and more consistently under a single entity than individually. federal liberals are threatening to move this way and if they get re-elected i’ll personally suck trudeau’s dick to make it happen. it’s just fucking common sense.
so that just leaves us with uhhh,,,, one thing left, which is the provincial gov’t’s assertion that ontario’s debt is out of control, way too high, etc. as the reasoning behind austerity measures like these. which is like, it sounds good on paper? to the layman, sure, it holds up. their $343bn number is intimidating, there’s the “highest sub-sovereign debt” factoid floating around always, wynne was unpopular, liberals spend too much, so therefore spending was too high in the eyes of the ppl. whatever. economy doesn’t exist solely in political ads and the heads of those they’re targeted towards.
governments are made to hold debt. more than an individual, or a company, or a mega-corporation or conglomerate, governments are debt-holding entities. the actual amount is rarely important, as long as it’s payment has been earmarked over the time agreed upon. the interest over time is weighed against the economic growth that that spending is projected to create. actual cost of the debt is minimal. ontario’s interest payments appear to amount to about $4bn LESS than quebec’s, despite quebec having about 2/3rds of our debt. their debt to gdp ratio is 52% to our 39%.
the reason our debt is so much higher than other comparable sub-sovereign entities (i.e. american states) is because our provinces bear MUCH more spending burden than their peers. if you average out provincial and federal debt to get a more even representation of debt per capita, ontario is SAFELY in the black compared to other similar economies (which, to be fair, is partially because america’s federal debt is so high, but state debt’s and spending are so low that it’s not even a comparison otherwise). the only concerning stat in our entire economic portfolio is that economic growth
further research on their direction on the topic actually leave me less angry than before in a broad sense; their fiscal policymakers seem to generally agree that the best way to reduce debt is to spend at current levels rather than increase. it’s mostly i suppose the specifics you brought up as well as their rhetoric and political ads that i vehemently disagree with as short-sighted.
as usual canadian politics is a watered down version of american, so even their post-trump candidate actually still staffs genuine fiscal conservatives who don’t make obvious and easy to avoid mistakes.
vic fidelli can still suck my dick tho. this statement is dumb and obviously not true. “hey economic winds are blowing well so our long term strategy is obviously ALREADY WORKING”. fuck you. fuck off. stupid bitch.
so yeah
tat’s me onion

It’s scary how much a lot of people on this site hate aces and aros
The anti-ace/aro crowd will pretend we’re all just whining about nothing because we have an “oppression fetish” or are simply too ignorant to understand what’s “really” being said, but let’s make it clear again how they treat aces and aros and what people in their crowd do. This is a shorter version of an extremely long list of examples of this type of vile shit.
They’ll compare aces and aros to Trump (and here someone did this and added “fascism” in ace colors to it) and to slave owners and just over and over to the likes of white supremacists. This especially hurts aces and aros targeted by these people/groups
They’ll compare aces and aros to incels, who are dangerous misogynists and frequently rapists/rape apologists
They’ll say it’s no wonder if we get sent to therapy if we talk about our orientation (always inaccurately describing asexuality as “not wanting to fuck” or “not fucking” in their efforts to make it sound like some sort of graphic detail about “our sex lives” instead of an orientation)
They’ll claim we constantly talk about kinks and “fucking” or about “not fucking” and they’ll compare our orientations themselves to a kink , they’ll use this sort of tactic to sexualize both asexuality and aromanticism to shut us up about our identities altogether
They’re frequently racist as fuck and aside from the sorts of comparisons from further above you’ll get white ppl making “jokes” about “ace tumblr” being triggered by black ppl existing, making “jokes” about ISIS being aphobic, trying to whitewash the ace and aro communities constantly (here along with other rlly vile shit) often while talking directly over PoC, and you’ll also get white ppl outright mocking aces and aros of color speaking out against racism.
They’ll say we’re “ugly as fuck” and “weird” and id as ace or aro because no one wants us
They’ll equate aromanticism to just using people, especially using people for sex, and for this reason to misogyny
They’ll say asexuality shouldn’t be taught in sex ed, that no one should even identify as ace, that ace-spec/aro identities belong in the DSM, and that we should all get checked by a doctor
They’ll call all aces demons, a plague best gotten rid of and a “sexuality fandom” (in the last example again trying to erase aces+aros belonging to various oppressed groups)
They’ll say the orientation of aro aces is determined by how they behave and who they have sex with
They’ll call our orientations ideologies and a cult
They’ll post nsfw content in the ace positivity tag and while doing so argue our identities are nsfw anyway (see the sexualization issue)
They’ll use blatant troll posts to paint aces/aros as evil and/or as ridiculous, getting them thousands of notes, and will even admit they knew it was a troll post that they circulated and used to justify hating aces
They’ll tell aces to never date non-aces otherwise they’re automatically abusive for “taking sex away” from their partners
They’ll talk about wanting aces to be “exterminated”, about wanting us to slit our throats, tell specifically ace kids to kill themselves or in this case to get hit by a bus, and that shit goes on and on and on, very often these posts have been put in our positivity tags. People have also done this with rape threats/posts about wishing us to be raped
(And this is not even touching the anon threats of which there are many, often full of misogyny and racism - this person wanted to “hang me from a tree” purposely invoking the image of lynchings . Here’s another, extremely graphic disgusting one by someone who hates all us “~uwu~pure~smol~aceys~”)
Also when we do get anons apparently we just send them to ourselves anyway because we’re evil, no matter how graphic or how many ppl have posted comparable shit off anon
This person wants all aces on this site dead and also thinks cyberbullying doesn’t exist
More ppl saying vile shit including that aces should all be “put down”
Here’s screenshots of more terrifying threats (of death, rape and torture), only one is anon which I already linked above, one post is about wanting aces/aros to be medically experimented on and put in concentration camps
This person said they’d slaughter aces if they could
And these are just examples
This shit is not funny and it is not harmless, and no we’re not just being dramatic about nothing holy shit

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
now that we have their stats, here are my thoughts on the new characters:
sigurd: he has slightly less defense than xander, with much better speed and magic-tanking abilities. his 2 main drawbacks are the fact that he doesn’t come with built-in distant counter, and he can’t run QR. since his damage reduction only works against mages, his main role will be an enemy phase tank designed to bait out mages. unfortunately he does need distant counter to really unlock his true potential, but he can run distant def in slot A to help increase his strengths. on horse emblem his neutral stats would be:
41 HP | 57 ATK | 38 SPD | 40 DEF | 26 RES (with divine tyrfing equipped)
overall i’d expect him to land in S to S+ tier because you’ll be seeing him with distant counter almost exclusively. he also has access to cavalry buffs and mobility, so you will really have to plan around his defenses.
deirdre: she’s basically julia 2.0 with less attack and more res. if it wasn’t for her weapon’s ability to completely nullify any visible buffs she’d be pretty underwhelming. her best role is obviously a magic check because of her massive res. divine naga is a good weapon but she’s honestly not that much better than julia if you already have her. the main reason to try for her is because she can abuse spd ploy with her massive res, all while checking strong blue mages like reinhardt.
i’d expect her to land in A+ to S tier. she’s a strong unit but not someone you need a dedicated counter for like most of the top tier units. any physical unit or archer will be able to take her out due to her abysmal defense.
tailtiu: she’s unfortunately outclassed by linde and delthea in every way. since she has no real unique skills to offer i wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up as blarblade+ fodder for most ppl. if you don’t have a good blue mage yet then you can definitely make use of her by adding skills like LD3 and desperation and she will work just fine. she jus doesn’t really add anything new.
id expect her to land in A+ tier at best.
ayra: she will end up being a top tier unit simply because she’s the first unit to have access to a speed-based special. add to that the fact that its a 2 turn CD special, and the fact that her speed is technically the highest in the game, and its pretty easy to see how fearsome she will be in battle. she also comes with a perfect default kit of swift sparrow and desperation. overall she’s pretty much a can’t-miss unit for F2P players. then there’s her weapon which will grant -1 special cooldown to a 2 turn special if her speed is 1 point greater than the targets speed (hint: it will be)
i’d be surprised if she’s anything other than S+ tier even without distant counter.
arvis: he probably compares most favorably to lilina. unfortunately his stats and skills are pretty underwhelming for a supposed GHB unit. his most notable feature is his weapon which has atk/res ploy 2 built into it, while having def ploy as his default slot C skill. overall his role will be abusing his res-based skills while dealing slightly less damage than more offensive red mage options like celica or tharja.
overall i’d expect him to land firmly in A+ tier. at best he can be an enemy phase green mage check/debuffer. he just doesn’t have the speed to run true offensive sets like celica or tharja as efficiently as they can.
arden: if only his stats were as good as he is ugly. he has a massive HP stat decent attack, and above average def. his most noteable aspect is his unique slot B skill which is basically a much better QR. he also comes with brave sword+ as his default weapon which is easily his best option. his main problem will be getting onto an armor emblem team with amazing units like black knight, hector, amelia, and effie. he can run distant counter because of his slot B skill, but you really don’t want to get him anywhere near mages. on armor emblem his stats would be:
60 HP | 50 ATK | 17 SPD | 47 DEF | 22 RES (with brave sword+ equipped)
i’d expect him to land in the A+ tier. he’s basically draug but more enemy phase oriented.
overall these are some pretty good units. thankfully sigurd is a non limited unit so he’ll be around forever. im really looking forward to seeing how we’ll be able to get ayra since i think she is the best unit of the bunch.

Fears Mount That New Jersey Shooting Might Have Been Anti-Semitic Attack
Fears mounted Wednesday that a deadly shooting at a Jewish market in Jersey City was an anti-Semitic attack as authorities recounted how a man and woman deliberately pulled up to the place in a rental van with at least one rifle and got out firing.
A day after the gun battle and standoff that left six people dead — the two killers, a police officer and three people who had been inside the store — state and federal law enforcement officials warned they have not established the motive for the attack.
"The why and the ideology and the motivation — that's what we're investigating," New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said, adding that authorities are also trying to determine if anyone else was involved.
But Mayor Steve Fulop said surveillance video of the attackers made it clear they targeted the kosher market, and he pronounced the bloodshed a hate crime against Jews, as did New York's mayor and governor.
Also, investigators believe the two dead attackers — who were believed to be a couple — identified themselves in the past as Black Hebrew Israelites, a movement whose members have been known to rail against whites and Jews, according to a law enforcement official who was briefed on the matter but was not authorized to discuss the case publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
In addition, authorities have found social media postings from at least one of the killers that were anti-police and anti-Jewish, the official said. The FBI on Wednesday searched the Harlem headquarters of the Israelite Church of God in Jesus Christ, which is the formal name of the Black Hebrew group, according to the official.
The killers were identified as David N. Anderson, 47, and Francine Graham, 50 — both of them also prime suspects in the slaying of a livery driver found dead in car trunk in nearby Bayonne over the weekend, Grewal said. Anderson served about four months in prison in New Jersey on weapons charges and was paroled in 2011, authorities said.
Jersey City's mayor Steven Fulop, right, and the Director of Public Safety James Shea talk to reporters across the street from a kosher supermarket in Jersey City, N.J., Dec. 11, 2019.
Two of the victims at the store were identified by members of the Orthodox Jewish community as Mindel Ferencz, 31, who with her husband owned the grocery, and 24-year-old Moshe Deutsch, a rabbinical student from Brooklyn who was shopping there. The Ferencz family had moved to Jersey City from Brooklyn. Authorities identified the third victim as Miguel Douglas, 49.
"The report from the Jersey City mayor saying it was a targeted attack makes us incredibly concerned in the Jewish community," said Evan Bernstein, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, the Jewish civil rights organization. "They want answers. They demand answers. If this was truly a targeted killing of Jews, then we need to know that right away, and there needs to be the pushing back on this at the highest levels possible."
The bloodshed in the city of 270,000 people across the Hudson River from New York City began at a graveyard, where Detective Joseph Seals, a 40-year-old member of a unit devoted to taking illegal weapons off the street, was gunned down by the assailants, authorities said. They then drove the van about a mile to the kosher market.
Grewal said that within seconds of pulling up to the market, Anderson got out with a rifle and immediately began shooting, and Graham followed him into the store. He would not say whether Graham had a weapon.
A pipe bomb was found in the van, FBI agent Gregory Ehrie said.
Jersey City's mayor said it was clear that the killers deliberately made their way toward the kosher market, passing many other possible targets along the way, and calmly and promptly opened fire.
"We shouldn't parse words on whether this is a hate crime at this point. This was a hate crime against Jewish ppl + hate has no place," he tweeted, adding: "Some will say don't call it anti-semitism or a hate crime till a longer review but being Jewish myself + the grandson of holocaust survivors I know enough to call it what this is."
A man measures a window broken by a bullet at the Sacred Heart School, across the street from a kosher supermarket where a shooting took place a day earlier, in Jersey City, N.J., Dec. 11, 2019.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio likewise said the attack was a "premeditated, violent, anti-Semitic hate crime," while New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called it a "deliberate attack on the Jewish community." They announced tighter police protection of synagogues and other Jewish establishments in New York as a precaution.
The drawn-out battle with police filled the streets with the sound of high-powered rifle fire and turned the city into what looked like a war zone, with SWAT officers in full tactical gear swarming the neighborhood. The attackers were killed in the shootout with police.
A fourth bystander was shot at the store when the attackers burst in, but escaped, Grewal said. His name was not released.
Rabbi Moshe Shapiro said he spoke with the survivor at a hospital. "He said the guy next to him fell to the ground," Shapiro said. "He suffered two gunshot wounds but managed to run out of the store and climb over fences."
In the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history, 11 people were killed in an October 2018 shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. Last April, a gunman opened fire at a synagogue north of San Diego, killing a woman and wounding a rabbi and two others.
The kosher grocery is a central fixture in a growing community of Orthodox Jews who have been moving to Jersey City in recent years and settling in what was a mostly black section of Jersey City, causing some resentment.
Mordechai Rubin, a member of the local Jewish emergency medical services, said the small Jewish community has grown over the past three or four years, made up mostly of people from Brooklyn seeking a "nicer, quieter" and more affordable place to live. Next to the store is a synagogue with a school and day care center where 40 students were present at the time of the shooting, he said.
"It's unfortunate what happened, but we don't even want to think about what would have happened if they made their way up to the day care or to the synagogue," he said.
Authorities also warned that several fake Go Fund me pages have popped up purporting to be raising funds for the family of the slain officer, a father of five.

Your post on Hamilton is so true tho. Like I'm not going to lie and say I didn't enjoy it when it first came out but after the feel good moment came down, and I thought about it critically. My opinion is in the middle, like yeah there's something wrong with the premisr of the play but I'm not going to shame minorities for paying their bills, so whatever. I just wish the fandom on tumblr wasn't so obnoxious and I could be a little more chill with its existence.
Oh word, the fandom is HEINOUS. And I think that exacerbated everything bc then you had a lot of fans (the bulk of who’d seen the musical) being in everyone else’s face with their interpretations of it, too, and I’m not giving the play a pass, but like you’d never know how MANY Black people were everywhere until footage, bootlegs, etc. came out, how over-hyped the token white man was, etc.
And then that like rabid defense + excuse machine of white fandom (who had no time for LMM for In The Heights ofc), who are extra racist + fetishistic on their own even before slavemaster kintypes, shipping, etc. came out decided their Mission™ was to shout down poc & esp. Black poc who critiqued the narrative’s integrity + merit.
Because like this was not a conversation indigenous bloggers were having AT ALL, as far as I saw, or even one very many non-Black Latinx & AsAm bloggers were having despite like a potential for community interest— it just became a purity battle for the more radical than thou Tumblr BPP vs. white musical geeks who’d targeted them SPECIFICALLY…
Like the only time I recall NB Latinx bloggers jumping in was due to this argument about essentially who owns/who has the right to creatively utilize hip-hop, when it’s been v. much integrated into NB Latinx musical culture for a long-ass time, BUT was still being utilized BY Black performers to sing about slavers.
Which is a MESS, and imo not sth you can lay at one person’s feet effectively anyway BECAUSE of those compounded factors, but was one of those things that like… only contributed to and heightened this weird vibe of Black Antis vs. Everyone Else (and a lot of fans feeling like it was Broadway Nerds vs. Mean Ole Negros ☹️) & the like fierce hunt for receipts + moralizing over goddamn showtunes in this day and age like we don’t all have fucking bills to pay.
And like I would LOVE to be able to have more open critical discussions about the show, but that baggage gets in the way in advance— bc tbh even to just say, “man, they shouldn’t have won the Tony for Best Choreo” opens you up to both “SO YOU WATCHED IT THEN YOU TOM ASS COON!!!!” and “HOW DARE YOU SPEAK AGAINST MY SMOL NUYORICAN CINNAMON ROLL #YAYHAMLET!!!!” and like I do not need the pop-ups????
I need like a discourse ad blocker to even mention the damn play for good or ill, end up with like 3 ppl blocking me each time, and don’t have the energy to get past an opening paragraph with all the shouting and interruption when what’s deepest to me is the figures + the impact on the professional sphere (incl. individuals’ careers!); the ethics of the narrative as intersects with Black art/artists; and the weirdness of how far white fandom went in a field that’s tbh REALLY expensive to even be an audience for, and the mental gymnastics of fetishization + needing relatable “white” chars even when they’re not played by white actors.
Because tbh I truly do not care that we have a one time Confirmed™ recording of LMM saying “nigga” while quoting Daveed Diggs quoting Biggie. That is the least offensive way I’ve heard non-Black people say that shit out of turn yet IN MY LIFE, barring like MAYBE the ACTORS in “To Kill A Mockingbird” or sth, and including corny ass Quentin Tarantino.
But like… the discomfort I have is still really rooted in some shit I can’t even have conversations about because of that!!! Because the paradigm is such that if you’re HEARING me when I say xyz things about this play bother me as a Black woman, you’re NOT hearing me when I throw in that “however,” and at best don’t get it if I say “as a Native person” or “as a Black Latinx.”
Even to the point that people trip if you’re like “OK but he’s out-composing & out-writing everyone else rn from a quality standpoint” when musically, for Broadway, THAT is objectively true.
Idk. I just feel like it’ll probably be a few years before folks have calmed down enough to clear that air, and like if they end up doing a tour, filmed theatrical production, or movie version in the meantime, it’ll start all over again & just be this awkwardly contentious phenomenon that no one ever gets to be chill about ever again.
