i know it's because of the dub, but the whole "oh they made it so the jock likes to read, how original" take regarding Gladio is even more laughable when you consider that going by the traditional stereotypes the localization tried to impose on the characters, Ignis should be the one who likes to read and he doesn't
you never see Ignis with a book
anytime he's seen reading anything, it's either a magazine or his recipe notebook
he will read magazines at camp while he cooks, at diners while they're ordering food, and in hotel rooms while they're relaxing
meanwhile Gladio is the one carrying entire novels around and giving them his full attention any chance he gets
it's a disservice to both of them to assume the physically stronger of the two isn't intelligent, and that the tactician MUST be a bookworm
they are interesting characters because they're NOT stereotypes

So fun fact for those of you new to Danny Phantom crossovers, specifically to Danny Phantom lore—Phantom is entirely capable of doing incredible feats of strength and endurance. He once, canonically, lifted a school bus full of children without issue. On the other hand, Fenton, human Danny Fenton? He’s failing gym class. He’s not like, faking it either. He is not thinking that far ahead. He’s GENUINELY bad at PE. So is Tucker, actually. SAM however, is INCREDIBLY GOOD. One of the best in class, actually. And Jazz has at least been shown to enjoy VR kickboxing (or whatever we’re calling what she was up to during the whole Danny Got Shrunk With Dash episode).
So, like. Yeah. For the most part, in fanon it’s a little ignored, especially as we do see Danny do some pretty cool flips, some while still in ‘human’ form. But canonically he’s pretty weak and has needed help to not, like… die. (Maternal Instinct is one episode that shows this—Maddie and Danny end up stranded in the middle of the forest because… long story short, it’s a Vlad scheme. And she spends most of her time when she’s with Danny protecting him from the… everything that’s trying to kill them, which is, in fact, everything. Involves a scene where Danny sits in a tree as his mom fights an ectobear if I remember correctly. This is me blatantly telling you to watch Maternal Instinct by the way.)
Do with THAT what you will.

Talking about the Villain Irene AU
tbh a lot of what my role-reverse/Evil Irene au is isn’t just “these characters are just have different values now but there core personalities haven’t changed” because that’s kinda boring to me.
I feel like some themes I’d toy with are this hole idea of “destiny” and “nature vs. nurture”
this hole thing starts because the divine warriors witnessing her kill her own child, decide to take a stand with Shad, instead of opposing under the pretense that there has to be another way to stop the void besides sacrificing life, that of which they want to protect.
And it raises this question of does this create a butterfly effect where the characters individual issues manifest in different ways because of that choice.
garroth’s golden child syndrome doesn’t cause him to push away his family and responsibilities but instead he embraces’s them and learns that he can use his status and charm to manipulate people. It manifest a narcissistic person whose views on people are rooted in classism and superficiality.
Zane’s neglect manifest into him being the “easy child” always stays out of peoples way, always apologizing for things that don’t need to be apologized for, and often being isolated. For fear of speaking up or stepping out of the comforting bubble he’s made for himself.
Vylad becomes overly dependent on Garroth and seeks his approval to stay in his step families good graces and has adopted garroth violent manic tendencies. He’s however, nothing without the people that protect and guide him.
Aaron’s no longer this unhappy loner and seeks out friends and family wherever he goes to subconsciously make up for the one he lost.
Zenix has a more outgoing personality and sees Zane as a brother and family he didn’t have, because he was shown kindness by him when no one else did, and takes him on expeditions for his research on the relics and the divine warriors.
