ok like again i feel like people come to these conclusions about the show and use them as proof but forget that it might not actually be substantiated. like maybe chauncey did bully stede for being too fruity as a kid! but we dont actually ever see that on screen. best we got is him calling him baby bonnet. idk like im sure chauncey bullied stede too but the extent of that and reasons behind it arent actual facts laid out by canon!

i mean, stede says that he forgot that him and nigel were twins. its possible he remembers nigel more than he remembers chauncey if nigel was the one leading his bullying. we defs hear nigel mocking him in a way that feels like pointed attacks on his masculinity, that his “boat” is so tiny, he was always crying and picking flowers, that hes a coward, etc. but nigel isnt chauncey so even though we can theorize that chauncey bullied him in a similar manner, we cant actually say that as canon.

what we do know about chauncey is that hes a higher ranking official than nigel (admiral vs captain) hes respected enough to hold office with the king! the way he talks is also very different from nigel where they dont have the same mannerisms at all. i feel like we could reasonably theorize that chauncey is the more responsible twin and nigels a bit more… frat boy. chauncey calls stede baby bonnet, so hes obviously not fond of him and probably wouldve partook in his bullying as well.

but the best i got is these two and tbh i dont think theyre styled similarly enough where i feel like they wouldve done smth with the hair and outfits to be more identical

but when it comes to how chauncey talks about stede, i feel like it has a different vibe than nigel? i mean, his big speech at the end at stede is so different than how nigel derides him.

its fascinating to me how “you defile beautiful things” is often interpreted as stede not conforming to masculinity properly, but thats such a?? not masc thing to say? where his list of beautiful things is his brother, stedes family, and fucking blackbeard. its also a statement said with so much hatred, where he goes back to stede as a child even, describing him as gods perfect little rich boy.

i guess for me this doesnt read as something attacking stede for being gender nonconforming. it feels like something much deeper than that, speaking on jealousy and resentment at the privilege he may view stede as having. it feels like his hatred for stede has a lot more depth in comparison to nigel, whos obviously coming from a position of liking to fuck with stede, who even goes as far as inviting himself over for tea so he can continue his bullying.

but its like! yeah! chauncey couldve bullied stede for being feminine! but this isnt something that has been shown in the series.

Favorite Main Character: Tied between Aphmau and Laurance tbh??? Laurance is without a doubt the best-written character over the course of MCD, given he gets two whole seasons of being part of the main cast while most people only have one. But Aphmau herself has really really grown on me over the years! Really given how much happens to her, she's very unique as a character, and I really like the incredibly specific "naive girl who doesn't know how the world works has to go out and figure out how to live" archetype and she fits into there perfectly lol.

Favorite Side Character: Vylad. Have you heard of him. You may have heard of him. He should've been a main character I cannot believe he got sidelined so hard. Hes the REASON WHY APHMAU EXISTS WHAT DO YOU MEAN AARON GETS MORE SCREENTIME THAN HIM WHAT DO YOU MEA

Favorite Ship: I like Vylance (Vylad/Laurance) a lot :) I feel like I don't talk about it a lot because a lot of it to me is either A: Kind of weird because neither of these guys know how to hold a healthy relationship or be honest about emotions they experience in general. or B: Extremely sappy and therefore embarrassing to post about. But I think their dynamic is very interesting and I wish it was a much wider spread thing ^-^

Favorite Villain: Honestly MCD doesn't have a lot of Villains it handles well.... Ivy was incredibly fun but the stuff surrounding her was weird and then she died too fast... The Shadow Lord never got to be a character until S3 and by then he was gross and weird and not an actual interesting/threatening villain... Gene is kind of the same they didn't actually utilize him a lot on screen despite him being very interesting.... I like Sasha a lot but I don't think she really counts as a Villain... Same for Zenix he's in a weird gray area to me..... Parts of Michi are fun but there are a lot of implications around her that really Arent and also her motives are just not thought through at all.... Garte is never on screen once.... The Demon Warlock had potential but mostly he just kinda felt placed in there out of nowhere...

I guess Zane wins by default mostly because everyone else tripped and fell at the finish line. There are parts of him I don't like (why did you try to publicly turn a baby into a shadowknight when your greatest advantage is that you are a trusted public figure) but overall I think he was handled better than any other big villain we encounter. So congrats Zane you win !!

Leverage Redemption Log: The Museum Makeover Job

And we're in London. Museum break-in goes south, Inspector Ponytail is on the case. Mirabelle and Liam call Parker (is Liams Brother driving?) Man's phone goes off, Inspector Ponytail is with Interpol (presumeably going to be Sophie's personal Sterling, and knowing about the whole "she has a daughter"-reveal. Her daughter). Name is Astrid, Oh god that is one ugly-ass painting of Sophie, the duke and little Astrid. (i mean Sophie looks relatively fine but the duke's face is just... well it makes you hope it was a closed casket funeral.) --- Parker is being thoughtfull in the most Parker way imaginable. Turns out Harry is trying to retire again, (it wont stick but its good for him to keep his skills sharp and his position as a legitimate lawyer is crucial. You can fake a website but you cant fake legitimate connections) --- Its not the masks. Sure they might be valuable but they scream distraction (cause obligatory third act twist). Its probably the Indian Jewel Exhibit that has yet to open. So, not Sophie's Sterling, Astrid is Parkers Sterling. Sophie puts it out in the open, They realise its a trap (but not that the masks are a diversion) Parker tries to bait Astrid but it turns out Astrid isnt biting (personal vendetta against Ramsey, one of the people who made her dad drink himself to an early death, trumps the worlds greatest thief) Sophie's little look at her hand and double-speak "im proud of you even if I cant say it" moment. --- Billy tells Sophie her plan is shit. (for one, it assumes that he doesnt want her to open a path for her)

Oh yeah this place survived the blitz and we're still occasionaly finding those arent we.

Breanna, dont be a dick to Elliot. "bomb protective" tarps over some paintings and a new lick of paint on the walls and bada-bing-bada-boom we have a different floor for Ramsey. Ramsey doesnt buy it (because he organised this to get Leverage involved so he knows Sophie is going to try to go after him) --- Confrontation between Sophie and Ramsey, the moment she says she's after the masks he lights up (cause he's not after the masks and it tells him she's not seeing through his real goals yet)

Hardisons 3d printer makes a return, (yet another good way to keep the character "present" when the actor cant be there. They're really lucky it was the Guy in the Chair and not Elliot whose career blew up)

Flashback Parker steals the masks (and the hugging Oscar statue) Small chasescene, Fake Fake Deathmask reveal and a phonecall from Arthur. (didnt see him coming tbh. Thought this was Ramsey playing a double-bluff) So Arthur's plan was simple: Get Sophie to shut down the museum and clear the place, knowing that they'll be so focussed on the Death masks that he can simply walk right up to the crown and take it.

"Here," he said with his normal blunt tone.

You didnt question him and simply took the item (pretend it's smth you've wanted for a while now). It wasnt even wrapped up...

After silently swallowing your subtle displeasure, you were thankful in the end, "Thanks Masa."

He ignored this nickname and began to walk out.

"Dinner's ready," he said from over his shoulder.

You suddenly couldn't help but wonder what his reaction was when he found out he was going to have a younger sibling. An amusing thought crossed your mind. It would've been really funny if he had actually made a face of worry or discontent. You were definitely going to bring it up to your parents during dinner.

expert skeletron used to terrify me but now i fight him easily way earlier in progression than i should lol. recorded this because why not. my dodges arent the greatest for 600+ hours of terraria though i must say

the only reason i thought id loose was time. i started taking a ton of hits at the end because i needed to get bolder and hit him more before morning, i had 0 doubts about me winning aside from running out of time

skeletron is a good boss but hes very predictable. his first phase is the hardest to predict tbh, his hands are real wild. but after? he just shoots skulls and charges. skulls. charges. repeat x100. though i am often unprepared FOR the change and get hit with a skull

im much more scared of the perforators (calamity mod) than this bitch lol. those motherfuckers like to kick my ass because i forget about the worms

armor is victide from calamity mod btw, its a bit stronger (including individual armor buffs) than gold. im wearing the melee helmet as well but the vanity helm is the ranger one. best armor for skeletron is probably the crimson set but i havent played calamity in a hot minute so ill probably find a better one for his progression as i play

I mean, on the one hand, I’d sort of agree that the general framing you’re complaining about is kinda boring. We know Dream isn’t a one-dimensional villain. We know he planned to be imprisoned, we know he’s got allll sorts of shit going on behind the scenes, etc etc etc. We know he isn’t this act he’s showing us. I’ve said before that it’s impossible for Dream to drop his act when he’s around Tommy, to the point where I’m a bit bored by their interactions. And I dearly want more Dream content.

But on the other hand: this stream was NOT a stream about Dream’s villainy. Let’s see what he did: he greeted two unexpected trespassers, he wrote some stuff in a book, and he burned a couple of discs to prevent a very overdramatic suicide. By all accounts, this is far from evil or morally neutral, it’s downright generous! Especially if Dream actually cared about the discs the way that Wilbur and Tommy assumed he did.

Wilbur and Tommy acted on their assumptions about him, and Dream was just, like, baffled. Dream is a non-POV character, and part of the fun of him is piecing him together through the projections and the lenses of other characters.

I’d say my greatest criticism of this would be my disappointment that Wilbur isn’t plumbing more interesting depths of his potential relationship to Dream, which could have more ambiguity than Tommy’s—but given that it was set up with Tommy, it makes sense that today, at least, that ambiguity was less present.

And it wasn’t NOT present! I think it’s pretty interesting to reflect on how Wilbur, who recently watched Fundy die and has just learned about Tommy’s contemplation of suicide and has committed suicide himself, views the value and use of his life versus how he thinks Dream views it. He was still asking for Dream’s approval and legitimacy with the book. He was still looking for power that he could hold over Dream with his life (in the same manner Fundy did). And he was still claiming to understand Dream even though he obviously doesn’t.

having been on twitter myself and very recently left it, i would for sure agree that there's more timmy fans who come for tom, it escalated like mad over the past couple years. of course there's good timmy stans because i am friends with some of them, but it's so so strange how i think that among their fandom some have really made dunking on tom normal and acceptable. the proof of this can be seen when there's a hate tweet for tom made by a timmy stan, there are lots of likes on it from people within the timmy fandom. but on the flip side, when there's a rare tom fan hating on timmy, the tweet has less likes and more quote retweets calling them out or arguing in the comments. at least for toms fandom that seems to signal a less toxic fandom, i get the sense that most of the stans don't really care about the drama and just want to keep on vibing. i don't know what it is that those types of people who get so mean are big fans of timmy, it's certainly not a reflection on him since he's never encouraged that behavior. you're right destiny when you say he'd cringe if he knew what some of his fans say.

i don't know why timmy's fandom is like that, they shouldn't really be feeing insecure, but there's just a sect of his fans that really delight n dragging others down. it's really weird to me, i'm not sure if more of them are younger or cliqueish and that leads to the behavior or what. i'm glad that there's a really open discussion on this page about it bc it's one of the reasons i left twitter i was so done with the constant negativity on tom and also z from the normie dudebro side of twitter. there's a really nice supportive community on there for tz stans, but unfortunately it's just not the greatest for someone sensitive like me. something i've noticed, though, it is hard to stay away from twitter now!! i feel like i got so used to checking it that i almost have an 'itch' now that i'm off my account and deleted the app off my phone. i don't really want to call it an addiction but it feels pretty similar to it, i think the sense i'm getting from a lot of your anons is that people upset by twitter have got to step away from it. if you feel a compulsion to check it like i did, that's a big red flag that it would be a good idea to step away. another thing im glad of is tom speaking up about taking social media breaks. i truly cant imagine what it would be like to read such negative things about yourself or a loved one, so im glad he has the self awareness to step away. this is the longest anon message i've ever written but i love the thoughts you have on this kind of thing destiny, its good to see some honest talk about how fandoms can effect us. fandoms should be for fun so if yall arent having fun for sure reassess!
