Time to pay homage to the Spring Queen, Tori.
[This is a long one, folks. I have lots of feelings. Sorry, not sorry! TLDR can just look at the gifs for the gist of the story.]
Tumblr media
Having read Solitaire, This Winter, and Nick and Charlie in addition to Heartstopper, my thoughts on Tori and how she's portrayed in the show are a bit difficult to organize and express. Since we don't get her backstory in the show (yet), we see her exclusively engaging with Charlie's story; this leaves out a lot of her depth and complexity, or at least leaves it to the viewer to piece together. BUT . . .
The specific ways she goes about protecting Charlie say so much about her.
It's established from their first on-screen interaction that Charlie feels safe with Tori, both to be himself and to confide in her that he's ended his pseudo relationship with Ben, a relationship no one else knows about at this point. Tori automatically assumes the fault was with Ben, which is not only peak awesome older sister behavior, but a cue to Charlie that she knows him well enough to trust that he was not only not the offending party, but that the breakup was a very positive move for him. She's affirming and bolstering Charlie without any platitudes or unsolicited advice, a sign of her care and respect for him, as well as her understanding of him and his needs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Solitaire, Tori explains that she rides the bus with Charlie when he's dealing with particularly bad mental health struggles, which puts the scene toward the end of S1E7 in a slightly different perspective. She knows that something is deeply wrong, but also that Charlie isn't ready to talk about it. She keeps an earbud out just in case, but doesn't pressure him in any way, another sign of respect and silent support.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course the moment when Charlie is desperately vulnerable, scared, admitting his darkest thoughts to her, when she realizes for the first time (in the show timeline) just how deep the pain goes, she takes it seriously. She knows what it could mean. Though we as viewers haven't seen it yet, Tori knows her own version of this particular darkness and recognizes it in Charlie. She grounds him with firm, safe, physical touch and a truth that only she can give--which makes it the truest kind of truth, a bedrock truth for Charlie to stand on--that he is valuable to her and vital to her life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Charlie tells his parents about his relationship with Nick (with fairly negative results, but that's a whole other post), Tori's concern for Charlie is immediate. Not only does she remember how terrible the bullying Charlie experienced was, but she also knows how fragile his newfound happiness really is. Charlie misinterprets her question--whether intentionally or not I think might be up for debate--and assumes that her concern is mainly for Nick, asserting that he can protect Nick. Tori knows that Charlie will need that protection as well, maybe more, but also respects his choice to view the situation in this way. [Side note: respect is like Tori's secret love language; she doesn't give it very willingly.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Look after him or you die" seems funny, but Tori is dead serious. Her later accusation that Nick doesn't keep his promises feels harsh at first, and he doesn't really deserve it, but we have to see it for what it is. Tori is trusting Nick with a responsibility that she usually puts on herself, and she doesn't take it lightly; very few people can care for Charlie the way Tori does, and to her, failure to do so is indefensible. Nick's failing her test in this moment, though she's a complete enough person to recognize that it's a momentary lapse and trusts Nick with Charlie later in the story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course there's the infamous Nelson dinner party, where Tori does in reality what we ALL want to do in spirit and knocks David down several pegs. She sees in him exactly the kind of person who bullied Charlie and made his life miserable, and she's not about to let it happen right in front of her. No real commentary here, just a deep appreciation for Tori's sisterly rage and complete disgust with David.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there's this:
Tumblr media
Oh, season 3 Tori is going to be something to behold. I absolutely cannot wait. All hail the queen.

Koisenu Futari Production Journal ⑩ (translation pt. 1)
part 1 of 3 | part 2 | part 3 |original article here
this is kind of long (and it's only part one!) so I'm putting it under the cut. if you catch any errors, let me know!
Hello, I am Sayaka Takahashi, the costume director of Koisenu Futari.
In a drama, the costuming of a character plays the fundamental role of adding realism to a characterization. In addition to that, however, I think costuming expresses a “background” that can’t be conveyed by the dialogue or storyline alone, and gives viewers the chance to dig deeper into the characters.
I especially tried to keep this in mind while styling the characters for this show.
Like many, I first heard of the existence of aromantic and asexual people while working on this show. Although there were many new surprises in this regard, reading through the script and understanding the characters better helped me to understand that they were all very fascinating. I soon began working on expanding upon the impressions I got through the costumes.
Approachable and somewhat delicate, despite their strong sense of individuality—in order to convey this impression, I used a variety of colors in the composition of each character’s outfits. The costumes needed to be heavily emphasized in order to come across as colorful in a show with lots of location shooting, but I tried to add color freely without getting boxed in by that.
I will specifically explain the costuming processes of Sakuko, Takahashi, and Kazu.
⚫Sakuko’s Costumes
When styling Sakuko, I tried to ensure that she immediately came off as a bright and likeable character.
At first, I developed a soft, fluffy look using pastels and muted colors, and incorporated recognizable trends such as frills, see-through fabrics, and puffed sleeves in order to create the image of a girl who has fun with both her work and her fashion.
I also expressed her sociable nature using the colors of her jackets and the balance of her backpack. However, after her encounter with Takahashi, she begins to realize that she had been subconsciously changing herself to suit the needs of the people around her.
When Sakuko goes from realization to acceptance, we see her world become more vivid and colorful. This is when her clothes and accessories begin to gradually change. We decided that she had liked rather large earrings even before her realization, and used those alongside her backpack to emphasize her individuality.
While the outfit she wears to visit Takahashi’s home for the first time is a normal commuting outfit, the balance of color used to express her joy and excitement at finally being able to relate to someone, as well as the vigor with which she innocently barges into the house, makes it one of her main looks.
And in episode 3, the coat Sakuko comes across during the shopping scenes in episode 3 becomes a vital part of her awakening to a newfound sense. For this scene, we looked for something very impactful and something that, above all else, suited Sakuko the best. Ms. Kishii looks very good in vivid colors, especially red, so we unanimously decided on this bright red coat during the costume fittings. This coat becomes the start of Sakuko’s discovery of a new part of herself as she begins to try out clothes and accessories she had never chosen to wear previously.
Starting from episode 6, there is a clear change in Sakuko’s appearance, where Takahashi’s grandmother’s influence can be seen. Her style begins to broaden as she begins to embrace vintage clothing and accessories, such as brooches, and begins incorporating more masculine elements. Specifically, we introduced elements that we had been avoiding up through episode 5, such as second-hand clothing, denim, primary colors, black, and large earrings.
I hope we were able to convey the relief and freedom Sakuko feels as she chooses to wear the things that she likes without having to care about what others think of her.
thanks to @dollopheadsandclotpoles and many others for their kind words of encouragement - I hope you enjoy!

I need to tell someone this at least.
So this new pjo show is a complete joke, especially to some of the oj book fans(like me) who are so disappointed by how it turned out. The acting was stale(actors weren’t given anything to work with so fair), the visuals weren’t anything to speak of, the plot was nonexistent, everything was going too fast or too slow at all the wrong times, there was so much telling and almost no showing it felt like a voiceover or something, not only did they completely change what happened in half of the original book but they also added new and completely unnecessary scenes, to top it off the episodes were 30-40 minutes long with each episode having a budget of FIFTEEN MILLION DOLLARS. From the start of this they already messed it up, they promised a book accurate series but they’d be better off calling it loosely based (Percy is supposed to have black hair but his actor has blond hair and they expect me to like it??) they changed everything that didn’t need to be changed and the quality was so bad it makes me sick, and everyone is defending it and they’re all saying how good it is and yet there’s almost nothing good about it at all. And everyone’s defending the actors ‘oh theyre just kids’ they’re also getting paid to do this why aren’t they showing any emotion??? So it completely ruined any chances of this show being good and now I’m getting it practically shoved down my throat by every app and site I visit so it’s just sickening me even more and I’m trying to leave it alone but nobody is letting me because they’re saying how ‘good’ and ‘accurate’ it is. And rick(the book author) said he chose the cast because they were the best for the characters but none of the cast was actually good in this series(they were more in character out of it and that’s a whole nother slap in the face), the best thing I have to say about them is that their best performance was when they weren’t in the scene over explaining(which was almost never) the show never gave us any time to figure things out or be interested because it’s just so badly written it drags down everyone else involved. So now not only at i waiting for the ‘real’ pjo fans to realize that this show sucks but I’m also waiting for this show to get cancelled because it know it will. It sucks, and after waiting almost a decade this feels like a slap to the face. Why? Why would they completely change almost everything that made the books good? And I feel like what’s worse is that whenever anyone puts out any valid criticism on how little they stick to the book(making Percy blond, making clarisse skinny and not masculine) they get harassed into silence as if that’s a good argument? Is it so hard to put on a wig or some eye contacts or smth? You’re telling me these bland script writers are all they could find with a 15 million dollar budget? And where are the new faces? Everyone in that show is some kind of nepo baby or well known celebrity so that doesn’t work either. And it hurts so bad how they butchered the books to make this knockoff barely well thought out show. I hope this show never gets a season two because I’m actually sick thinking about how they’re gonna butcher that book.
I agree with some of the stuff said here except for the things to do with the actors. I think with the material given they did an excellent job with what they had. Their emotions were more in micro expressions which is really all they could do cause the setting was so serious and not in an action type way (which is when actors usually get to use big facials) through out the majority of the show. As a viewer I can understand why you think they’re acting was stale or emotionless but as an actress myself I can see it was anything but. They did really well considering the circumstances. And as for looks I really don’t see the point of making a big fuss cause that’s one thing I do agree with Rick about (one of the only things) as long as they embody the characters they can play them. And you can tell that from the way they act at the very least outside of the show that they do embody their characters amazingly. There’s no doubt in my mind about why they were casted. I do think that RR was a bit in over his head when trying to be so involved with the making of the show. I feel like overseeing the writing process just to make sure that they’re getting it right would’ve been enough but I think he got a bit too excited to try and make this something memorable and to his liking that he sort of overshot it. I wish there was a way that they could like redo season 1 or make some sort of redemption in season 2 but I’m a bit skeptical. These kids deserve a shot though, I’ve been following them all since the casting announcement and they’ve been working their ASSES off. They all read and reread the source material, they made an effort to interact with the fans and give as much insight as possible to the filming process, the kids themselves made an effort to become good friends with one another which really they just had to be friends at the least but they have frequent sleepovers and hangouts all the time from what I can see. They really care about this project and I think that in and of itself means that it’s worth fighting for. If not for Rick, for them and for the fans who DO like the show. They deserve their chance.
I do appreciate you feeling comfortable enough to share your thoughts with me!! Your opinion is completely valid and understandable!!

Please write that meta on Imogen and Laudna if you want, I would love to read it.
Well anon, good news, I would love to talk about it! Bad news, it will be very rambly and mildly incoherent, as I am incredibly tired. I am keepin it below the cut for your sakes
(Disclaimer, this is not dissing anyone else’s interpretation, if you disagree that’s fine. I’m not here to say anyone is wrong for their views on the characters and their relationship. Even if I disagree with you, I don’t think you need to agree with me, because stories are filtered through the experience and analysis of the individual viewer and everyone has their own personalized interpretation etc.)
This is something I’ve believed for a long time, but Imogen and Laudna’s conversation this episode really solidified my thoughts on it. Imogen and Laudna love each other, but they don’t love each other for who the other is, they love each other for the certainty of the other’s existence in their life. They also don’t care how they exist in their life, only that they do.
I think the best one line summation of all this is when Laudna said their relationship “transcended words.” I think that’s the closest they’ve gotten to the uncomfortable truth of their relationship. Their relationship is not about communication, it isn’t about the messy work of making compatible the nitty gritty of who they are, it is about being able to have each other no matter what. No matter who each other is.
Every conversation Laudna and Imogen have had has been an almost lampshading-esque conversation about their relationship. It has always been assuaging doubt, reassuring the other that they’ll always be there, and that things will be ok. Talking about the optimistic future, comforting one another, maybe expressing a little sadness or uncertainty that they can find reassurance about. But they always very quickly drift away from any conversations that are either genuinely difficult and messy, or aren’t about the surety of their bond. The few times something genuinely difficult does come up, like the rock incident, it’s avoided till it can be moved on from without trouble and without that difficult communication.
Look at Ashton and Laudna’s conversation this episode. They were vulnerable and honest with each other about some really uncomfortable topics. It wasn’t a fun conversation, but they came out the other side of it understanding one another better, and maybe themselves as well. That is the foundation of a close, genuinely emotionally intimate relationships of any kind. That is what creates a bond that genuinely centers around who the people in it are.
But Laudna and Imogen avoid those topics. Imogen is often more emotionally honest with other people like Orym, and Laudna with Ashton, than they are with each other. That is where the true worries and flaws and truths that can’t be comforted away come out. They actually seem rather uncomfortable with emotional honesty with each other. In the conversation in question, Imogen started by saying she was fine, which she clearly wasn’t, and Laudna had to press her to get her to start being honest. Because they need their relationship to be positive, or else it might not always be there.
I don’t think this is because of denial or naivety, but because that is just not why they need each other. Laudna said so herself, she said she’d back up Imogen no matter what choice she made. The foundation of their relationship is not emotional honesty or love of who the other is as a person, but that the other was there after years of being lonely. Now that’s all there is to preserve. Purposefully avoiding or outright accepting all the negatives of the other and their relationship will always allow them to guarantee there they will never be alone again. And that’s all they need. To be blunt: the reason Imogen didn’t talk to Laudna after her resurrection, and why Laudna didn’t seem upset, was because all that matters in their relationship is that the other is there. The very act of Laudna being alive was all it took. Imogen holding Laudna after she came back was fulfilling what the relationship had been doing. It’s a very close relationship, but it is a purposefully somewhat hollow one.
This isn’t meant as invalidation of what is there. It’s an extremely important relationship to the characters, one which you can interpret any way, this is just my take on it.

I've been watching a lot of West Coast Swing Dance videos, and I seriously think fandom as a whole is sleeping on this as a new AU: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WsmJllMA5c
WCS competions have a format called Jack & Jill that is totally improv, where your music and often your partner are chosen randomly, and it's a very latin-inspired kind of dance so as a viewer it's very easy to imagine sexual tension between the dancers. You compete as either a leader (typically men) or follower (typically women) and it's essentially the lead's job to provide the strength and stability to show off their follow, who's usually doing the fancier-looking moves like spins and dips.
So imagine: Hob is a well-known swing dance teacher, he mostly makes his money running classes for engaged couples to dance at their weddings, and while he doesn't compete much anymore he's known as a very capable lead. He's an expert at helping beginners learn their fundamentals and feel comfortable.
Meanwhile, Dream is a notoriously difficult follow on the competition circuit. He is very creative, and an undeniably graceful dancer, but he pushes his partners too hard and doesn't actually follow his lead's lead (bratty sub vibes for days).
When the two get partnered up, Dream expects Hob to be boring, but instead it feels like he's being understood for the first time ever. Hob just *gets* him, his footwork is excellent and his read on Dream's body language is like nothing Dream has ever experienced. Hob understands that when Dream pulls away too hard he doesn't want Hob to let go, but instead needs him to match his strength and give Dream a stable anchor for his next crazy move. They are unstoppable force meets immovable object and watching them dance is like magic. There are established couples dancing choreographed dances that don't look as in sync as these two.
And more than that, Hob knows how to 'yes, and' better than any partner Dream has ever had, maintaining his lead and his control no matter what wild new move Dream thinks up and even bringing things to their dance that Dream would never have thought to include. It's enough of a difference for him that at one point Dream gets annoyed at not being the one in control and attempts a move that is genuinely dangerous. But Hob just controls his body's momentum and smoothly turns it into something safe, then pulls Dream close to tsk in his ear.
"Now, don't make me put you over my knee in front of all these people, darling."
I cannot dance to save my LIFE so this fascinates me so much.... improv!!! Wow!!!
Of course Dream is a brat. He wants to be the centre of everyone's attention, naturally, but he also wants to do his own thing. Sometimes he might as well be dancing solo, for all the effort he puts into engaging with his partner. But Hob isn't having any of that. From the first moment, he's forcing eye contact. Reading Dream like a book. Not allowing him the control he's so used to having. And yet he isn't blocking Dream, or stopping him from expressing himself... oh no, he's just matching the energy. If Dream takes it up a notch, Hob is already there with him - he anticipates what Dream might do before Dream has even decided!
Dream hates him. And it's also the most satisfying dance he's ever had. His body is in love. And Hob is infuriatingly casual about the whole thing. He even goes so far as to critique Dream! "Your lines are very good but you do get a bit sloppy with your facial expressions. You could at least try not to look like you want to burn the world down." He means it in a friendly way, Dream thinks, but his ego still can't take it. He vows never to dance with Hob again.
At the next competition, one of the leads drops out, and guess who kindly steps in as a replacement? And guess who gets randomly picked as Dream’s partner?
And after they win the competition, Dream kisses Hob so hard he nearly knocks both of their teeth out. Totally worth it.

Hi I just wanted to also throw in my support and let you know that I'm sorry you're dealing with people being horrible. Art is meant to be whatever you want it to be and just because you like something in fiction doesn't mean you like it in real life or are some monster indorsing literal crimes (That's why it's called FICTION). You have an amazing art style and a great sense of humor and even though there are some things I don't like that you make I know all I have to do is skip them. People need to understand the difference between participating in ways to limit real threats real threats (like refusing to consume media made by proven abusers and crinimals) and functionally conservative censorship (even if they don't want to admit that is what they are doing) just because they do not like something or it makes them uncomfortable (especially when that censorship many times comes with unsubstantiated accusations and literal death threats). I'm not one to have the mind set of 'back in my day things were better!' because no they weren't, but one thing my generation did do right was learn how to block and ignore things that they were uncomfortable with instead of deciding that the best route to take is literal cyber attacks (I hate calling it 'bullying' since that doesn't even cover half the horrible stuff I've seen people say and do) on people to the point of wanting them to kill themselves over literal fictional characters in art.
I AM AND ALWAYS WILL BE A FIRM SUPPORTER OF NON-CENSORSHIP! NO MATTER WHAT NAME FUNCTIONAL CONSERVATIVES CALL THEMSELVES.
I'm sorry this was a rant but please know that you do have people who support you and even if I don't like everything you do, ultimately your art isn't for me. It's for you, and no one has a right to tell you what you are and are not allowed to create. I hope that things get better. <3333
Thank you very much for your kind words of support. I always say that, but I mean it: it's super important to hear that there are people who understand where we're coming from and let us know about it and are willing to express their opinion. Your ask actually really cheered us up that day <3
You’ve made a lot of great points, and I agree with you wholeheartedly! An artist has their freedom to draw and post whatever they want, and the viewer has their freedom to look at it or block it and forget it. If you don’t like it or don’t get it, it’s not for you to get – it’s plain and simple like that.
And yes, there ARE ways to limit irl threats and problematic situations! There are groomers, a lot of them are in fandom spaces, but these folks are looking at the wrong people. And they know it damn well, their goal isn’t actually to bring justice or make someone feel safe: if that was the case, they would just have a list of tags to block and that would suffice nicely.
Also you’re right, things weren’t better back then, but people really did seem to mind their business and ignore/block stuff they don’t want to see more often. And even when artists/writers/people in general received shit from others, it was understood by everyone than people doing this stuff were just straight-up trolls whose entire goal was to mess with others. But nowadays people who harass, bully, threaten and send “kys” messages somehow try to make it seem like they are morally superior to their victims??? Which makes them even more closely resemble pro-censorship conservatives. Honestly, it’s stupid how similar these people sound to some of the 70 y.o. fools who run our country and the censorship laws they create. It’s like verbatim sometimes. Sorry, I digress.
Once again, thank you so much for your support <3 I hope you are having a great day.

Hate parades, ship wars, and memes aside, can we please talk about this scene for what it is?
Tumblr media
Now, first of all, before my post gets misinterpreted in any way, I would like to clarify, that I am a hardcore Mileven fan, like, I am obsessed. But when it comes to individual characters, I am a very neutral, empathetic viewer, who likes to find reasons behind the actions and reactions of characters. Maybe that is why I am hardly able to hate any character because they don't think like I do or don't act the way I want them to.
I feel like this scene has been interpreted from all the wrong perspectives, but not much from the one it was supposed to be. Among all the hate against Mike, memes, jokes, and stupid questions, people have mostly overlooked how heartbreakingly beautiful this scene actually is. It's absolutely painful for both, Mike and Will.
Tumblr media
You see Mike, who never actually expresses his insecurities and feelings as he is busy taking care of people he loves, for the first time reveals how scared he is that El would eventually lose interest in him because he is not good enough for her. That he just got lucky, and it was dumb luck that he found her in the woods, nothing more than that. Previously, we have only seen him worrying about her thinking that she would die while saving the rest of the world, leaving him alone and empty. But for the first time, we get to know that he has zero self-confidence and he thinks that he is not worthy of her love. And it kills him to think that El would grow emotionally distant from him and go away one day, and then he would have no idea how to live without her because he is just so much in love with her.
Tumblr media
Then we see Will, who listens, very carefully to what Mike is saying, he sees the fear and pain in his eyes, and empathizes with him. He actually even senses that Mike was already upset before he shared what he felt. He understands and tries to assure him that El is always going to need him. Even when Mike compares himself with Lois Lane, and then says that was very stupid of him, Will goes, "No," which I felt was extremely sweet and kind of him to tell Mike that he is not stupid for being scared of losing El. He basically says out loud what Mike has a hard time expressing. Will does it for him.
Tumblr media
In an attempt to provide some emotional support to Mike, Will finally gives him the painting. He reminds him that he is the leader, he is the heart of the party, it is he who holds the party together and without him, everything would fall apart. Even El, especially El. But this is also where things start getting heartbreaking for Will. Because he lies about the painting. He never says it was his choice to make this painting for Mike. He says it was El who commissioned it, she told him what to paint. Probably because he did not want Mike to have even a tiny amount of suspicion regarding Will's feelings for him.
Tumblr media
We see Jonathan, who senses it, and most probably even knows that Will is lying because like El had said in the first episode in her letter to Mike, Will is painting something but he never shows it to anyone. So hearing Will say that El told him what to paint, was easy for Jonathan to understand his brother was not saying the truth. And he guesses why he could be doing so.
Tumblr media
Will also looks away from Mike to hide his feelings, and Jonathan notices that. He notices Will throughout and knows what is up with his brother. This is when Will starts speaking for El and himself, which is heart-wrenching. He starts getting teary-eyed, trying to suppress all his emotions. But Mike does not understand that Will is actually talking about himself too because he does not have any idea about this. It's simple.
Tumblr media
However, Will manages to provide him some emotional support, and Mike feels somewhat relieved that someone understood his fears and insecurities. It's like a parallel of the 'crazy together' scene from Season 2, where Mike understands what Will was going through. And even though he is so heartbroken at the same time, he feels happy that he has managed to make Mike feel better.
Tumblr media
Then he looks away and cries, as the rendition of The First Lie (ST2) and The First I Love You (ST3), this time named Being Different, plays in the background, which is again one heartbreakingly beautiful music. Go listen to it.
This is where many people start asking, "How did Mike not see that Will was crying?". Well, let me tell you it is easy for you to notice because it is being shown to you; because it is meant for the audience to notice. Mike has no clue that whatever Will said about EL, could make him CRY. He took it as merely his best friend providing him the emotional support he really needed. He was looking at the painting and thinking about these things. He does look at Will once after Will looks away, but he could not understand that he was crying. Because Will actually was trying his best to hide it, by putting his hand on his mouth so that no one gets to hear it. Now let me remind you what Jonathan said in Season 1. Will was good at hiding. He is good at hiding from monsters, hiding his true self, and hiding his feelings.
Tumblr media
But his brother, looking at him through the rear-view mirror, notices it and his eyes fill with tears, as he further empathizes with Will.
The immaturity many people have shown in interpreting this scene, which was actually so simple, is ridiculous. They just went on to make this such a negative, toxic scene, when it was actually so so beautiful. A group of people blames Mike for not noticing or in general just not having the same feelings for Will. I don't know guys, maybe one day, hopefully, when you are emotionally mature and have moved far away from stupid things like these hate parades because things didn't play out the way you wanted them to in your imagination, you will understand that you cannot make people have the same feelings for you, that you may feel for them. It is a very common idea, a much-explored one, even in Stranger Things itself, I don't know why some people don't get it. Dustin had feelings for Max, but Max chose Lucas. Steve had, even has, feelings for Nancy even now, she chose Jonathan. Tammy Thompson could not stop staring at Steve, and Robin could not stop staring at her, which initially also happens with Vickie. See, it has been explored several times in the show. So I don't know why it is Mike who gets this much negative criticism for literally being in the same position as Max, Nancy, and Tammy. Like I said, you can't make people feel what you feel for them, it doesn't work like that. Just like you cannot blame Will for having feelings for Mike, you can't blame Mike for having the same feelings for someone else.
You also made some theories about how Jonathan hates Mike for this, which was actually never shown or even hinted at. But even if it wasn't shown or hinted at, I don't know, would he? He himself has been a part of a love triangle, he is sensitive and mature. I guess he understands the situation better than you. Maybe it is just your defense mechanism to cope with the fact that things did not play out the way you wanted them to.
I am not here to change anyone's opinion. I know I can't. But I just really wanted to appreciate such a beautiful scene as this.

re-listening to the magnus archives for the nth time and man the quality drop-off after the episode where gerard kaey just Explains the Lore to jon is astonishing. I'd thought the decline was mostly confined to latter season 4 and 5, but nope! it's there halfway through the series!
I think a number of things about the show's premise are fundamentally unworkable, but one that really stands out to me now is the extent to which it wants to be a drama when it has done very little to establish, specifically, what its characters are like around each other. I have a pretty good idea of who Jon is, and a reasonably solid sense of who the rest of the cast is, but I don't really understand how any of them fit together. even Jon and Martin, ostensibly the central relationship of the show...I don't really understand what that is! what's the shape of their dynamic? what do they see in each other? what do they like and dislike? why are they together (even in a platonic sense)!
(sidenote: honestly I feel like the most well-developed relationship in the whole thing is Jon and Elias, because there is a very clear rationale for what's going on there: Elias is grooming Jon and has some emotional investment besides that because he thinks of Jon as his property; Jon at first isn't aware of this and then struggles with wanting to leave but also wanting to stick around because he's curious, and because on some level he wants Elias's approval. yep, check the box, that's A Relationship)
now this lack of character stuff isn't so much a problem in the early series when it's primarily about the shortform statements— a frame narrative, and a handful of constant characters to populate it, are handy for all kinds of reasons! there's a much better version of this series that casts Jon as a kind of occult Hercule Poirot, and afaict that was originally what the series was supposed to be. but once the show makes its ill-fated pivot towards drama, it has to be about the characters because that's all a drama is ever about, and the gaps become blindingly obvious especially because of the decision to make the first part of season 4 about Things Falling Apart
and like, listen, if you have a group of characters who are friends, and you're a drama, you kind of always want to do this, right? the Platonic ideal of this kind of thing is the lead up to the Buffy season 4 finale, where Spike tries to get everyone at loggerheads, and then all of season 6. but the reason that works on Buffy is that the viewer has a very clear idea of what all of these relationships are, and why they exist. take Xander and Buffy: Buffy loves Xander because he's a goof and he's sweet and he does the right thing when it counts, even though he's not special or strong; she needs someone like that, who knows and sees everything she is and yet still loves her from the ground, and it was never going to be Willow because Willow is also, in her way, part of the supernatural world. where's the wedge? Xander feels inadequate and like he has nothing to offer Buffy! boom, done, conflict generated.
but like...what is the conflict between Martin and Jon in early season 4? Martin used to be super involved and now he's not and there's kind of nothing to be done about it? Basira just randomly despises Jon because...she lost her partner, but never expresses it in a way that reads as anything other than petty sniping, which isn't really in line with the rough sketch of her character we've gotten so far? it really feels like the writers' room (well, one guy in this case) decided that there would be A Conflict at the beginning of season 4 between the characters, but never stopped to realize that with the board state as it was, there wasn't really a way to do that that made any sense, because we have no idea who these people are when they're together.
it's such a shame because the early season horror shorts really are so strong. I know the author cites MR James as his inspiration, and that shines through in a way that I'd confidently call an improvement on James' work! really well-crafted, minimalist horror with a laser focus on the story's core idea, the Thing that makes this tale scary— there's a wonderful intention to it that makes them a joy to listen to. I just wish it'd kept going like that...

RWBY Volume 9 Ep 3 - Rude, Red, and Royal
This episode frustrated me a bit at first but got very interesting in the end. And then I rewatched it and this whole post just kind of happened.
- “Uh... are we sure we should do this?” Yeah, the longer all of their interactions with the Red Prince kept going on, the more I was wondering why they were even doing this in the first place. “Because the Red King helped Alyx in the book” - okay, but clearly the Red Prince is completely different and not willing to help whatsoever. So why engage with him in the first place? It didn’t seem like he was ever going to help them so like... should have just let Yang rough up those guards in Ep2 (since he beheaded them anyways) - but then again, maybe not following the path of the story wouldn’t have worked?
- I also think it’s interesting how because “The Girl who fell through the World” and “Alice in Wonderland” are not exactly the same story, there are moments where we as viewers know more than the characters do. For instance, they think the Red King will help them, but all of us know that the Queen of Hearts is bad news.
- I love Weiss and Yang not even pretending to be nice with their birthday wishes.
- So instead of the Queen of Hearts hating white roses, we have the Red Prince hating green things - nice reference, including the “Off with their heads!” thing. And gosh, Ruby’s heartbroken expression when she says “How could you?” after he throws Penny’s sword away - she needs to come back and get it PLEASE. (And based on the trailer I’m guessing she will.)
- See, and Ruby now offering to cheer the Prince up with a game is what I don’t get. Like, at this point, they should have just left. Clearly this isn’t the King they know from the story and this isn’t working. Oh well.
- Little suggesting “small” as a compliment and then being pleased when it works - I love them.
- “Now we’re all Littles!” Gosh, I love Little so much.
- On a more serious note, Ruby being so scared for her friends during the game really struck a chord with me. She just lost Penny, the girl she loves one of her closest friends, and during this whole scene you can just see the fear in her eyes at the thought of losing someone else. When she says “No one’s going to get hurt, right?”... babygirl :((. (I hate the Red Prince so much ugh.)
- Wait, how did I only notice on my rewatch that the white pieces are losing on purpose at first because the Red Prince tells them to? That was super obvious and I didn’t catch it the first time.
- Aww, Blake blushing when Yang cheers her on is cute.
- When the Red Prince kept asking questions during the game I kept thinking... I don’t think you should be telling him any of this.
- “Little is a mouse... at least I think.” Little is Penny theory confirmed
- The entire fight sequence on the board is abolutely amazing. The music, the choreography, that one epic shot of Weiss... yeah, that’s a really amazing sequence. I get why CRWBY were hyping this episode up for the music.
- But gosh again, pay attention to Ruby during the fight and how worried she is the whole time. This is really freaking her out.
Tumblr media
- What freaks me out here is that Blake would have fallen if Little hadn’t grabbed her. Like yikes, that was way too close!
- “unable to do the one thing you were put on this acre to do” Hmm.. so winning board games is the prince’s purpose? I still want to know more about how this whole world works. And who is the curious cat? How do they know so much? Why did they decide to save Team RWBY? I want to understand what’s going on! (I know we’ll find this all out, but I’m impatient.)
- “Change” definitely is an important theme this season. We’ll see where that eventually leads.
- So wait, did the cat... teleport them?
- “Great, so we’re not in the stupid story after all - we’re in its stupid sequel!” Oh, Weiss has the best lines this volume! (Made better by the knowledge that sequels are usually worse.)
- “You’re not nearly as interesting as the others I’ve met.” Okay, plural there - so Alyx isn’t the only human the curious cat has met. Either they already met Jaune and/or Neo, or there have been other humans besides Alyx here before - probably the latter.
- “Can’t anyone here be normal?” I’m kinda feeling you on that rn, Weiss. But then again, this is Alice in Wonderland - "we’re all mad here” and all that.
- Has Yang ever used “Rubes” as a nickname for Ruby before? I like it!
Tumblr media
Something, something, brothers of light and darkness...
Tumblr media
Green lightning and green rain - so here’s how green symbolizes Penny and therefore her spirit is still in this world... okay that one’s maybe a bit too far-fetched
Tumblr media
What is the Jabberwalker holding here? They ask “Fix?” and then throw it away. Looks like a piece of metal? Did anyone get a closer look? Whatever it is, this seems important.
(Okay, far-fetched theory time because I want her back: This is Penny’s core (we don’t know if her new body was fully human - Ambrosius never specified that it was and Team RWBY never specifically asked for it to be) and if Team RWBY take it back to Remnant, Pietro can build Penny a new body and they can revive her again.)
Tumblr media
So, Neo falling is represented by a pink comet crashing down. This makes the intro more interesting:
Tumblr media
We see a red comet here in the beginning - Ruby, I’m guessing.
Tumblr media
And then we see two blue ones here. Now this is interesting. This could be Weiss, but who else? Jaune fell after Ruby, but wouldn’t his be yellow? And why only show Weiss and not the others? I think it’s more likely that this is either Alyx and someone else (the other human the curious cat has met?), or that it’s Alyx twice if she’s reliving her story in a time-loop like some people have theorized. But I think it’s the former, as we also see someone else behind Alyx here:
Tumblr media
So yeah, I think there was definitely someone else with Alyx.
- Also, since Neo and Ruby/Blake fell at the same time, but Neo is only landing now, that makes me wonder how time works here and if Jaune has even landed yet.
- So wait, did Neo’s semblance just evolve? She seems surprised at the copies of herself suddenly appearing, so this seems new. Really cool, but at the same time Neo was already one of the most op characters in the show; so this is kinda terrifying.
- Aww, poor Jabberwalker, I feel bad for them. Let Team RWBY befriend the scary monster, actually.
Yeah, interesting episode - but I need to know how it goes on now please.

We'll also provide some helpful advice on how to make visually appealing content that can be enjoyed by people all over the world. Prepare yourselves for an exciting journey into the amazing world of Roblox video animation!
What is Roblox?
Roblox is a user-created, user-shared, and user-played online gaming platform with a large user base. Since its release in 2006, it has attracted millions of players of all ages throughout the world.
Roblox, at its foundation, is a platform for users to create and share their own content. Roblox Studio, the software behind this digital playground, is a one-of-a-kind game creation platform that fosters imagination. Anyone with access to this software can create their own interactive environments, be it a simple maze or a massive role-playing game.
Roblox's massive library of games has something for everyone. While chatting with other players in real time, players can be adventuring through enchanted forests one minute and racing sports cars the next.
Roblox isn't just about games, though; it's also about building a sense of belonging through sharing creations and discussing interests with like-minded people. There will always be something new to learn or achieve on this expanding platform because of the thriving ecology that supports it.
How many distinct video genres exist on Roblox?
Roblox provides numerous options for generating films, and each sort of video can serve a unique purpose. Video demonstrations of how to play Roblox games might take the form of "gameplay" videos, in which the player (or viewers) record themselves or others playing the game. These clips may be instructional in nature or simply highlight humorous in-game events.
The second variety consists of animated shorts that showcase the game's characters in a variety of humorous and dramatic situations. Roblox Studio provides users with the means to create animated stories complete with voiceovers, music, and sound effects.
Machinimas can be created by splicing together Mobile Gaming Trends video with other video elements like cutscenes or live actors. This opens up more possibilities for individual expression while maintaining a firm grounding in the Roblox gaming universe.
Selecting the Appropriate Roblox Game for Your Assignment
It's important to think about a few things before settling on a specific Roblox game for your assignment. First, consider the larger point or message you want to make with the video. Is a fast-paced, exciting story what you seek? Or would you rather take it easy and get lost in the action?
Next, think about who you want to watch your video. Games like MeepCity and Adopt Me! may be appropriate if the target audience is children. Games like Tower Defense Simulator and Phantom Forces, on the other hand, may resonate with an older gaming demographic if they have strategic gameplay.
How to Create a Compelling Roblox Video
To guarantee your Roblox video stands out from the crowd, be sure to follow these guidelines. First, your video needs a coherent plot that anyone can watch and understand. This will pique their interest and hold it until the show is over.
Also, experiment with different ways to move and angle the camera. Don't settle for the standard viewpoint; play around with zoom settings and alternative viewpoints to give your images more depth and interest.
The quality of the sound is also crucial. If you can, invest in a high-quality microphone or other sound recording equipment to accompany your video. The use of music or sound effects that do not require payment for their use could also be effective.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Roblox is a fantastic medium for making and sharing the kinds of animated videos that attract millions of viewers online. You can make films that range from comedic to dramatic to informational and educational using the platform's many games and personalization choices.
You won't find a better community than Roblox if you want to get in on the action of TikTok gaming or rage gaming videos. Its committed user base provides limitless potential for creative output.

Before the last 2 episodes of Yumi’s Cells 2 are out I just wanted to say I really appreciate Jinyoung’s acting this season as Babi. He really works so hard and put himself in the shoes of this character. We didn’t get much of his back story or his cells unfortunately. But with Jinyoung expressing amazing emotion in his acting we could feel the sincerity and understand Babi’s difficulties and his struggles as a character.
Tumblr media
In the beginning we think that Babi is this perfect boyfriend who is so supportive to Yumi. But we see also that he has these flaws that makes having a relationship with Yumi hard. For example in last episode even though he was back together with Yumi he was so insecure and afraid to lose her that he lied to her and didn’t tell her he was in the hospital. As an audience member at first this really annoyed me and made me so frustrated with the writers for doing this to Babi and making him look even more like a bad boyfriend. Then he proposes to Yumi and this seems like an attempt by Babi to keep Yumi from leaving him as if once they are married they can continue to live happily together. But there is already trouble with trust in the relationship and it could only be worse.
Tumblr media
I don’t know how Yumi and Babi could end up happy together again. It was a really sad relationship when you think about it this way. Yumi was just broken up with Woong. Babi was someone who her love cell didn’t accept at first but instead all the other cells in her body earned to be with him already. They liked the feeling of Babi being someone that would love them and treat them right. But Babi was never seen as more than a fantasy boyfriend. Someone to support and encourage Yum’s writing. A person for Yumi to feel all cute and happy with. But once he makes one mistake its over. The fantasy is broken.
Tumblr media
Babi recognized that he was in trouble because he let himself gain some feeling for another girl. But instead of acting on those feeling and cheating on Yumi he tried to distance himself and focus on his relationship with Yumi. But it wasn’t enough for Yumi because already her image of him being this perfect boyfriend is broken. Did she ever truly love Babi or did she love the idea of him? What did Yumi even know about Babi such as what are his passions and his goals in life what is his dream? What is he like with his family? Did Yumi love Babi for who he is or did she love him for what he did for her?
Tumblr media
This is way too long and i doubt anyone will read this but I just needed to get all these emotion and thoughts i have been having out.
In the end I appreciate Jinyoung’s acting with Goeun was amazing. If I just ignore the storyline I can just see the cute sweet moments and the beautiful heart breaking moments as wonderful acting. I wish the characters were written with more care but that’s not my choice. I can just take it for what it is. I understand that as viewers we expect a happy ending where the male lead and the female lead end up together in the end after facing all kinds of obstacles because love conquers all. But what is painfully real about Yumi’s cells is that it’s not like that. In season 1 the main leads broke up. The end.
Tumblr media
I think this season will be the same ending. Yumi breaks up with Babi this time it’s final. She can’t have the same feeling for him anymore the trust is gone she doesn’t need him anymore. She is a writer now she has ambition and is growing to love herself instead of having a man love her. Maybe that will be the ending. The person Yumi ends up with will be someone she can see herself living with forever to love unconditionally as a best version of herself as possible putting aside her painful history.
Tumblr media
Anyway i wish Babi to have a happy ending too. But this isn’t called Babi’s Cells so i guess the writers might not have any obligation to give him one. He will just end up being an Ex.
But congratulations to this amazing cast thank you for your hard work.

Thanks for the review, I very much agree with a lot of it, although I personally love spoilers and even look for them purposely.
I was interested in this point from your review: "It’s a detail but I’m kind of tired of seeing people’s life being valued based on their marital situation and whatever they have kids of not. Watching her and Lee being extra-pissed off and feeling extra guilty because they killed a *husband* and a *father* and not just a guy feels so not right and maybe it’s time for society to move past it." Interesting that you're probably right, but it never occurred to me. It seemed to me that they were trying to kill single people with no family in order to cause as little pain as possible. After all, in essence, it is not the one who is killed (and eaten) who suffers, but the one who is left behind. And in that context, choosing a victim with no family and no children was a very logical move.
Anyway, thanks for not being afraid to give an unpopular opinion, I far from always agree with you, but it's interesting to read your thoughts anyway. And by the way, the reviews from viewers on Rotten Tomatos are not very good, although most of the criticism looks ridiculous, as if they are written by teenagers who don't understand what cinema, fiction, allegory, etc. are.
Hey! Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts about it.
I know some people don’t mind about spoilers and I really don’t understand you but I respect your existence 😂💜
About the point you’ve mentioned. Of course I get from where you (and they) coming from and of course there is a sense of logic in it but I feel like the logic isn’t very strong. I mean unless you make profond investigation about who you kill first, and even with that you never know it doesn't makes much sense, but it’s also because I haven’t a real strong feeling about "family" in a traditional sense.
They don’t know what kind of husband or father they kill after all. Is it better to kill a violent father or even a manipulative one that would have become the reason his kid will need a 5 years long therapy or a sweet single vet who happens to own two cats and one doggo and also takes care of the grandpa who lives next door and have no one else in his life anymore?
Like, you can imagine as many scenario and identities as you like, deciding a life is more or less worthy than another rarely make sense for a long time. Even without making it depends on the positive impact one can have on society or not.
Plus it sounds a lot like some "feminist" lines that were going around a few years back. "She’s someone else’s wife/mother/daughter/sister whatever" as if a woman’s life isn’t worth something on its own. And this is kind of fucked up.
I do think ‘unpopular opinions’ (even if the ones that seem unpopular aren’t always really that unpopular) can and should be expressed when it comes to art. Unpopular opinions about people are kind of pointless to me but art is all about opening conversations and debates so if we only hear the voices who agree with each other (and/or with you) that makes art way less interesting that is supposed to be. And yeah, I can imagine what the teenagers sound like 😂

Movie Review | The Couch Trip (Ritchie, 1988)
Tumblr media
This review contains mild spoilers.
I like Dan Aykroyd. By definition, you can’t hate someone who is simultaneously a Blues Brother, a Ghostbuster, and a Doctor (Detroit). But with the exception of The Blues Brothers, literally the one time he has ever been close to cool, he’s hopelessly lame, and those other movies understand that. Aykroyd has a tendency to make a certain face, a smile with his eyebrows raised but without any wryness, that’s usually a signal that you’re in trouble, that the movie will present his lameness but not grasp the implications of said lameness. He makes that face on the poster of The Couch Trip, and it’s no surprise that he’s the movie’s biggest weakness. The plot is about an escaped mental patient who’s mistakenly hired to fill in for a psychiatrist’s radio show when the host decides to go on a much needed sabbatical and insists the hire the head of the institution where Aykroyd is being held. This scenario presents a double switcharoo, in that Aykroyd is believed to be the stern but ineffectual head of the institution played by David Clennan, and also becomes better received than the show’s original host Charles Grodin. Aykroyd does plenty of unconventional things like swear on air, hold a free therapy day for his listeners, takes a bunch of them to a baseball game, and generally takes the air out of the stuffed shirts around him with his wisecracking and unusual methods. (I should note that like Grodin’s later switcharoo comedy Taking Care of Business, this too makes reference to the the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series. But that is a more central element to the latter movie’s narrative, and what is suggested as an impossibility here becomes reality in the latter movie.)
If you replace psychiatry with the army, this might seem a little bit like Bill Murray in Stripes, and Aykroyd seems to be hitting a lot of the same notes, even with his vocal delivery. The difference is that Murray is cool and Aykroyd very much is not, and that Murray is able to imbue the material with a genuine irreverence while Aykroyd seems to be going through the motions. This is directed by Michael Ritchie, who is unable to use Aykroyd as astutely as he used Chevy Chase in Fletch, where the star’s laconic presence mixes interestingly with the energy of the noirish plot. (Chase makes a brief appearance here in a commercial as a dad proud of his son’s choice of condoms. I laughed.) The movie also gives Aykroyd a potential love interest in Donna Dixon, who must be channeling feelings from their real life marriage as she regales him with longing gazes, because there’s little onscreen to explain the attraction. Yet at the same time, this material can inspire a Pavlovian response in the viewer. You get Aykroyd on the air, dropping words like “balls”, “son of a bitch”, “asshole” and “fuck” (all of which send his producers into a panic over possible FCC fines), and I can’t help but hoot and holler at least a little bit on the inside. Take that, psychiatric profession! It goes without saying that the movie’s view of mental illness is not terribly nuanced, and it tries to insert some sentiment with the inclusion of a street preacher type played by Walter Matthau. I don’t think the attempt is successful, but Matthau is still funny in the role.
I watched this movie to chase Last Resort, the dirt cheap Roger-Corman-produced vacation comedy starring Charles Grodin, and my primary motivation in watching this was more Grodin. That other movie is not well made by traditional standards, but it understands that the more Grodin you have, the better your movie is. The whole thing is an extremely contrived, poorly-thought-out series of scenes designed to grind Grodin’s gears, and becomes an almost free-associative string of the kind of facial expressions and line readings that only Grodin could deliver. If one could step into the dreams of the real Charles Grodin, Inception-style, I’d wager it would look like this. This is a lesson that The Couch Trip does not grasp at first but tries to atone for in the third act. The fact is, aside from the initial setup, Grodin disappears for much of the movie, but when he returns, he overcompensates, going on a rampage as he seeks revenge on Aykroyd for upstaging him and taking his money and his lawyer and friend Richard Romanus for sleeping with his wife Mary Gross. In Grodin’s absence, the movie is relatively middling, but it’s worth checking out just to see him approach the maniacal and unhinged heights of his work in Clifford.

Abstract Art
Abstract Art Movement
Art history, which is the study of art from all over the world and from ancient times to the present, involves almost every feature of human history and experience. Abstract art, which was develop around XIX century, is one of my favourite art movements.
Understanding abstract art is simple: all you need is an open mind and a wide imagination. There is no correct or incorrect response to this question. One of the most appealing aspects of abstract painting is its openness to interpretation. Abstract art does not proclaim, "I am this." Instead, it encourages you to enter the picture with an open, curious mind and see where it leads you.
This kind of art does not seek to convey a precise picture of a visual reality but instead achieves its effect via the use of shapes, colours, forms, and gestural markings. The word abstract, strictly speaking, implies to remove or detach something from something else.
Tumblr media
Abstract art is one of those styles that not everyone likes. Some may scratch their heads and reply, "Even my kid can do it." What most people don't realise is that the finest abstract painters have exceptional drawing abilities, a finely tuned sense of composition, and a thorough understanding of colour theory. Most abstract painters could draw a wonderfully drawn rose or a realistic face, but they don't. Instead, they opt to express their creativity via the creation of a visual experience that is less constrained by the weight of items.
Abstract art may also make people nervous since they don't know what it's "about" merely by looking at it. Or they believe that because it does not resemble anything, it is not "about" anything. Because abstract art lacks recognisable objects, they think there is nothing in it.
You must 'understand' abstract art using a new part of yourself, one you may not ordinarily employ or be familiar with.
Accept it for what it is. Don't try to interpret an image's specific meaning. Consider abstract art in the same manner that you would consider a symphony. When you listen to music, you let the tones flow over you rather than trying to grasp them. Allow your eyes to travel over the artwork in the same manner as the tones of a symphony wash over your soul. Allow your eyes to wander about the picture, slipping around corners, following the twirls, and turns, and dipping in and out of the surface. Allow your eyes to go around the artwork.
Allow yourself to get taken in by the painting rather than attempting to figure out what it looks like. Examine your emotions, experiences, and recollections. Allow your eyes to relax and wander freely throughout the painting. Examine the colours, shapes, materials, and surface, as well as how they interact with one another. Allow yourself plenty of time. Allow the artwork to "talk" to you.
As an artist I often find myself inspired by objects, landscapes or just my memories which I always prefer to put on the canvas, whether it is virtual or original. Below you can find some of my works of art. To me it is not just ink thrown on paper. I have considered this kind of art as a therapy of soul and mind, which always helps me to discharge negative energy. Also, whenever I create an abstract work, my goal is for that work to affect the viewer, to offer them why not a good emotional state.
Tumblr media
To conclude, abstraction is as abstract as we are. We do not understand our feelings, we do not understand the sensibilities we receive from certain things, and sometimes as human beings we aim towards simplicity and clarity, so as not to get tired. But we forget that the most beautiful things can come out of nothing. Like abstract works, which give you the opportunity to imagine the most beautiful feeling you can get from them.

Write a Bestseller! 7 Places to Find Perfect Story Illustrations
The tales you tell inside your self-help book must have significance to your viewers. What type of stories can interest them, provide them with hope and motivate these to move forward within their lives? The answer is "stories about people such as them. " Think about what the audience looks such as, believes, rejects, plus values. Remember their particular age, gender, and other relevant characteristics. Most importantly, obtain in touch along with their more difficult emotions: discouragement, frustration, guilt, shame and so forth. In that case concentrate on the thoughts you want those to feel: hope, expertise, success and take great pride in in a task congratulations. The considerably more you understand the audience, how that they think, what movements and motivates these people, the greater you will be at picking most compelling testimonies. Where can a person find relevant reports? I've used stories in all of our books and not any doubt your selected self-help book authors possess as well. You may have wondered when reading through self-help books, exactly where do these tales come from? Testimonies is found all about you. Let's focus on your story and just how you can make use of it inside your reserve. 1. Your history If you desire to develop an even more intimate relationship you're your readers, it's a good to include it at the particular beginning of your own book, such as in your launch or in typically the first chapter. In Take the U Out there of Clutter, Tag Brunetz and am each and every told our tales in the first chapter. You may also include snippets of your history throughout the publication once your experiences happen to be relevant. Since the story is about a person, it can get one of the easiest ways to illustrate the message. Most visitors are interested in typically the author's experiences. From time to time, authors get extremely obsessed with themselves and turn away from their readers. Although probably the most effectively approach to make a private connection between on your own and your viewers is to illustrate your own foibles and achievements, and poke just a little fun at yourself. 2. Your current story in disguise Besides including testimonies about yourself, you can disguise your experiences and provide the story like it happened to be able to somebody else. In my personal first book, Any time Helping You Is Hurting Me, typically the clients I defined were actually based upon my own problems, inner conflicts and even challenges. To typically the extent the reports reflected my personal activities, they were "true". But I put these aspects within characters that My partner and i created. A expression of warning is supposed to be here: Because a great engaging story facilities on conflict, your own story will often include other people. Be careful about telling someone else's story without their own permission. Yes, you may have gone through a divorce plus you want to bring from that experience. But chances are your ex will not too keen on you exposing their or her individual life for just about all the world in order to see. If you use another person's account in a way that can be discovered, whether it's a part of your story or not, it's important of which you get a signed release kind that person. a few. Statement Where more are you able to find testimonies? From both your personal and expert worlds. You can include testimonies from your consumers, patients and customers. No doubt an individual in your family offers had an event relevant to your topic. Round this outside with experiences your buddies have had and even there's quite a large pool in order to draw from. As with the previous section, stories that are about other folks need to be told only once a signed launch form is received. 4. Interviews I've interviewed hundreds involving people over the career for the particular specific aim of getting real stories in order to include in the books. I flex over backwards to be able to make sure of which those I interview want with typically the way they are made. I've never had any difficulty together with using real stories because I work so closely with those I meeting, and I experience everyone sign the release form. However , it only calls for one disgruntled person to file a law suit, and even that has time intended for that? Search on the internet intended for sample forms, or even request that the posting house present you with suitable forms. But it is some sort of good idea in order to get something inside writing as nearby the beginning of the particular project as you possibly can. 5. Someone else's tale in disguise Ways to sidestep having to be able to get signed launch forms is to be able to disguise the id of the folks in the story. Related to basing the stories and characters in your personal story, you will change specific capabilities such as sex, location, age, and the relationship to you. You have to change plenty of with the features so that no one, even those nearest a person, can figure out that you're discussing. 6. Composites Another popular way to receive the stories you have to have while protecting confidentiality and privacy is in order to combine features coming from two or more people you understand. This can always be helpful if the particular true story does not illustrate the purpose you want to make along with you'd such as. Often, reality won't fit into the great, tidy categories we authors have made. As long as you're up entrance with your audience about the nature of your stories, a person can blend a number of people as one representation. 7. Pure Fictional There is some sort of fine line between making a composite in addition to writing pure hype. Additional info would likely restrict you through "making up" good results stories when, actually no one offers have you ever been helped by your program. Is actually unethical to claim that will Mary lost 60 pounds when not any one has ever lost that a great deal weight on your diet, as well as to record that your resolve conflicts program saved Steve and Pamela's relationship when your consumers have ended upwards divorced. Build your composite resin stories carefully, together with a keen eye on illustrating what exactly is true. You can come across problems in case your stories usually are more fiction compared to genuine experiences people have had. Acknowledge your own story process I am often asked by simply readers I satisfy if the testimonies in my books are generally true. Since visitors often identify with the people within the stories, they will be naturally curious concerning how "real" these kinds of people are. I actually let them know the reality, whatever that may be for the book under consideration. Sometimes all involving the characters are usually parts of personally, some stories offer identifying features and i also use people's genuine names, and a few of my stories are based inside fact but told in a way that is simply not exploitive. I've never got anyone express concern about the stories I've used as long as I'm up front with these. To enhance the credibility of your stories, I recommend that you accept your process someplace in the book.
