Today's hot take is: don't make kids read the Hobbit before the Lord of the Rings. Present them with The Chronicles of Prydain instead because it's so much better (and also for kids). I love LotR, but I was never much of a fan of the Hobbit even though I really like Bilbo and Gandalf. Reading the Hobbit first was what made me procrastinate for years in starting The Fellowship of the Ring.

I did some late-night drawings of some lovely Fake Peppinos (and a Peppino) the other night.

From left to right, we got Oni and Red from the ask blog @onippep, Pep from the ask blog @ask-the-totally-real-peppino, and Piepoe from @awakenthebeing.

i chose these three because rome, open city is very historical, persona is more poetic, philosophical and fictional, and tcop is a biopic about a poet, who is a historical figure. to me.

((With my TFP Knockout being from Velocitron, that gives us a very interesting look into his life pre-war if you take TCoP as canon. He was alive during The Rust Plague more than likely. He was on a colony that was ultimately left to decay and starve. That definitely colored how he views resources. A few examples:

He hoards food. Rations, treats, whatever else that's edible, he hoards it. He always has something on him. He's absolutely lied about not receiving his daily rations so he can have extra in case he ever needs it. He makes a mental note about how much he has and how long it will last him if he ever find himself in a situation that calls for it.

He keeps a very close optic on his fuel levels. Not because he necessarily needs to, but just out of habit when he did have to.

He is meticulous about keeping his work station and living spaces clean and sanitized. It's a good habit for any medic, but Knockout is borderline obsessive about it.))

Continuing my Book Of Three character design exercise with our second introduction - Gurgi is one of my favourite fictional character and I like his design and expression but it's hard to make him scruffy enough with flat colours.

I had forgotten that he starts out by trying to strangle Taran and claiming to be determined to eat him.
