I just put two and two together. The Higgins' son the priest? His name is Lindsay and he's very liberal.
Jason's sister the former nun turned mystic/spiritual teacher ? Her name is Lindsay.
A lot of characters are named after loved ones of show members! Off the top of my head (some I just assume based on the names):
Keeley Jones -> Keeley Hazell (Bex and writer)
Ms. (Leann) Bowen -> Leann Bowen (writer/producer)
Phoebe O’Sullivan -> Phoebe Walsh (Jane and writer)
Jamie Tartt -> Jamie Lee (writer)
Declan Cockburn -> Olivia (Cockburn) Wilde
Jan Maas -> Saskia Mass CEO of Boom Chicago
Sam Obisanya -> Sam Richardson (Edwin Akufo)
Jane Payne -> Jane Becker (producer)
Henry Lasso -> Henry Lawrence (co-creator Joe Lawrence's son)
Will Kitman -> William Lawrence (co-creator Joe Lawrence's son)
O’Brien, De Maat, Goodman, Kukoc are also named after family and friends or as tributes.
Bonus HC: Ms. Bowen is played by Ruth Bradley, so it keeps alive my thought of Roy’s sister being named Ruth.

This is your friendly reminder that Keeley Jones deserves more love than she receives <3

when i call out the biphobia and general grossness of some idiot saying Keeley ~suddenly turned into a lesbian to date Jack for three episodes after being "hypersexual" (blergh) with Jamie and Roy for the first 2 seasons~ and then someone in the comments has the audacity to be like "okay whatever but I hated Jack she was a terrible character what a bad storyline" now is that at all relevant to the conversation I'm trying to have here? NO. Is this a useful comment? NO.

You know, I was surprised by the amount of people asking for s4. I understand, it's your favourite show. Mine, too. I'll be devastated if we never see Phil as Jamie again (he's my fav character, can't do anything about it). I'll miss him very very much.
However,
1. I was amazed by the amount of things they got wrong but general audience saying that the finale was perfect and asking for more. We must be watching a very different show.
2. After that AMA with Brendan, I simply don't trust the writers to continue this. In my mind it's a bit of a relief that we're probably not getting more because of the possibility of them ruining it even further.
Sure, one of my fav episodes (Sunflowers, 3x06) was written by Jason S. and Joe Kelly. Brendan was probably involved in some way, but not enough to give him credit for writing and directing it.
International break, 3x10, was written by Jane Becker. There are moments that I dislike, but the entire Uncle day? Roy & Jamie being besties? Roy finding the right words after he sees Jamie giving a nod to Sam that couldn't represent his team? Chef's kiss. I still think the way they handled Roy x Keeley was awful, but still. It was, more or less, a nice episode in my opinion.
Mom city, 3x11, was written by both Jason and Brendan & I absolutely LOVE it for most part (especially if we ignore the entire 'forgive him' thing with Jamie's dad). Jamie-centric episode that I'll always cherish & it's a shame we didn't have more of those. Give Phil all the awards. Love love LOOOVEEE IIITTT. Even better, give Jamie his own spin-off and invite Phil back as Jamie. (But then again, the fear of them bringing James back into Jamie's life and showing it as a good thing... The fear is Real.)
However, how could all Jason, Joe, and Brendan together write and release 3x12 as is is beyond me. How could they give us all those parallels, all that build up, only for it to ruin it in the finale? Jamie and his dad, Beard and Jane, the weird triangle thing that before this was mostly presented as ot3 but suddenly turned in the dumbest possible '2 people are chasing another same one' and Roy & Jamie both being OOC as HELL. Even ot3 aside, what was that bar talk? Jamie would never. Then at Keeley's house and Roy that's 'been working his ass off for the past year' but actually regressed to the point of BEFORE we see him in s1. He was presented as mentally mature in s1. I understand that he's jealous and insecure, but getting back to throwing punches at your best friend trying to convince himself/believing that after one night stand (that was VERY poorly addressed in 3x10 and 3x11 in my opinion) you're getting back together with your ex when she's been turning you down again and again? After that misogynistic comment about "But she's a woman, so you never know." WHO wrote that and why? Who allowed this to appear in the actual episode? And don't give me the "He's only human" treatment, he was always human but he never treated Keeley that shitty. He was better than that from the beginning. Or is it just me who wanted him to be better? Plus, Roy attacking Jamie after KNOWING what Jamie went through and how awful it is for him.
Before TL there was a show that I loved very much, but it disappointed me to the point that I started hating it, dropped it before the last season aired, and blacklisted it everywhere. I won't name it, but the writers were absolutely awful and treated the fans and the main gay ship like clowns. Typical Cis White Guys behavior towards their own characters and writing them as OOC as possible. I was very afraid this might happen to TL but was hoping that it won't. After 3x12? You guys. All my trust into their writing and believing in knowing what they're doing completely disappeared.
I am gutted bc of how much this show means to me and how it helped me through the darkest time in my life, but also... Are we sure we want more? Are we sure we trust them to continue this with these characters? I can kinda imagine the female football team, but to continue with all of our favs?
Mmm, I'm not sure about that, guys. Are you?

Also can we please take a minute to appreciate the sapphic representation in Good Omens season 2?
I adore Nina and Maggie. Their story is a breath of fresh air. It’s not a formulaic coming of age/coming out story. Queer people exist past their teenage years.
It’s not “we’ll give the bi girl a girlfriend for a minute for the sole purpose of getting inclusivity brownie points.” (I don’t want to see any biphobic clown behavior in the comments. Bi girls dating men are still bi!!! It’s just disappointing when media gives them very clearly throwaway partners.)
And it’s not “the only lesbian in the show is either a creep or manipulative.” So much media plays on this harmful trope, and that’s obviously not to say that there aren’t sapphic folks who are horrible people! We see this in Good Omens with Lindsey! But she’s not The Lesbian CharacterTM. We never even see or hear from her aside from her texts. Nina and Maggie, however, are two wonderful and dynamic characters. They’re just like any other folks trying to navigate a relationship. (They just happen to have and angel and demon meddling with theirs lmao.)
I also love the conclusion that they come to. It’s pretty certain that they’ll likely pursue a relationship in the future, but Nina has been dealing with a lot! They can take it slow for now. Aziraphale and Crowley can’t just smush them together and have them immediately live happily ever after. Humans don’t work like that. (Hmm something something parallels and needing to get through the dark times and heal and being complicated humans rather than just one thing or the other etc etc.) The communication and love and respect between the two is really heartening.
Idk, I’m rambling and I’m sure this isn’t very coherent. I just love them okay

being in both the ted lasso fandom and the critical role fandom is wild sometimes because i just saw a post that started out “my guess is that trent is still arrested” and i was like. he’s what. before i remembered that there’s a different fandom with a very, very different trent.

I just binge watched Ted Lasso in 2 days and now I feel empty. I don't know if I'll ever feel emotions again. I am playing scenarios with the characters in my brain like a puppetmaster. I have gone down the hashtag rabbit hole, I am writing more episodes in my mind as we speak. I am a changed woman

Words: dead, freak, weird, leave, and/or wish
So the Janchard household's most used word collection or...
I did have to go multi-fandom on this one though. And possible trigger warning for the last one, it gets a little graphic (violence wise, not sexually)
From A Day Unlike Any Other:
The only sign that Richard wasn't dead was the slow rise and fall of his chest, only visible because he'd managed to roll belly up, completely exposing himself. Ordinarily Jan might be a little turned on and excited by that, but Richard's pale skin and shivering frame put sex and romance far out of mind.
From The Cafe at the End of My Universe:
Theo took the mug hesitantly. "Am I crazy for coming out here? I just...I don't know if I'm ready for what he needs at the moment."
Danny took a short sip from his own cup, "Gee, do I think it's weird you drove over 13 hours, soon to potentially be more, because you are in love with the boy that you just drove away from? Surely not," Danny said dryly.
"Says the man who switched schools to get away from me!" Ethan's voice came from the other room.
"Touché," Danny admitted.
From an untitled Colin/Jamie fic:
Colin tried desperately to hold back the tears welling in his eyes as Isaac dabbed at the open cuts. "Isaac, have you ever thought about leaving the UK?" Colin asked, wincing at the sting.
"No, not really, I've got family here, Moe's here, you're here..."
"But what if I wasn't? What if I just went somewhere else?"
"Boyo..."
"OI! That's my loving nickname, paws off."
"So you just admitted it, you love and care about me? And him? And them?"
"I--"
"So you're not going anywhere."
From The Ones Who Remain (Chapter 4, the currently unpublished most recent chapter I'm working on):
While Stiles and Lydia scrambled for the trunk, Isaac dragged the half-conscious Ethan to the other side of the van and flicked on one of their lanterns to get a better look at the wound. He sorely wished he hadn’t as soon as the light turned on. A shaft of sharpened bone as long as Isaac’s arm had punctured cleanly through, blood spilling out from the hole and rapidly pooling. As Isaac watched, the skin around the wound began trying to close, but every small movement would rip any progress wide open again. “Isaac,” Ethan panted, “pull it out! I’ll heal, just do it!” Reluctantly, Isaac established as firm a grip as he could on the slickened bone and tugged with a violent surge of strength, nearly flinging the shaft across the sand while Ethan howled in pain.

autistic ted lasso characters: bonus round
these are characters where i don’t necessarily have enough concrete evidence to make a full post about each of them, but nonetheless there is definitely a case to be made for them being autistic, so here is a quick list
keeley: blunt, special interest in fashion/pr stuff, has a preconceived/scripted idea of what relationships are Supposed To Be Like, “i like the light and the absence of smells,” possible meltdown after her fight with roy in 2.7, masking masking masking
beard: special interest in chess, meltdowns (most notably when his phone dies in beard after hours), struggles with social cues, expresses himself in ways that don’t always make sense to others, either speaks in a monotone or a full shriek (or doesn’t speak at all) there is no in between
sharon: difficulty processing emotions, focuses on order and routine, awkward/uncomfortable in social situations, special interest in psychology/therapy, intellectualizes emotions and relationships bc she doesn’t understand them, just has The Vibe
higgins: not good with social cues, possible hyperempathy, declarative memory with birthdays, doesn’t always know how to connect with people, also just has The Vibe
trent: special interest in journalism, black and white thinking, very blunt, struggles with empathy, peter maldonado coded (singleminded focus on reporting the truth that leads to him accidentally hurting people)
isaac: safe food (rolos), meltdown (throwing the chair at the tv), doesn’t speak all that much, struggles with emotional regulation, possible special interest in football and/or hairstyling
phoebe: often blunt (which could also be bc she’s 7 but let me have this), possible stimming, mimicking (wants to be exactly like roy), has no understanding of what is and isn’t appropriate for school, her uncle is definitely autistic and autism is often hereditary so why not
