i think i journey closest to the edge of uninhibited madness when i start in on my explanations of how sensui and itsuki werent actually as homophobic of writing devices as they seemed because in my head the changes made especially in the dub that position itsuki as wayyy creepier than the source material and the fact that peoples interpretations of itsuki and sensui so heavily skew towards homophobic tropes and stereotypes that aren't there bc they're just so used to it is so significant but in actuality this is all only mildly supported by the text seeing as how it is mostly thanks to shounen jump and togashis health restricting itsukis screen time there are a lot of things he simply did not get the chance to build upon and clarify and the truth that i know in my heart, especially given his own irl villain arc of how he went on to craft gay villains after yyh, is that his elaboration probably would not have been pretty NGSJGDJGDJGSJTS
