Me + You: "I didn't know you were ticklish"

“How many of these things do you have?” Kojiro leaned in to get a better look, staring at the glittering piercings decorating Kaoru’s ear.

“More than the amount of brain cells you have living in that thick skull of yours.” The pink haired teen huffed, twitching when Kojiro ran a finger against them. “Watch your hands!”

“Sorry-wait; what the hell do you mean by that braincell remark?” The finger shifted places, jabbing him in the ribs instead. “Are you calling me-”

His question never came- distracted at the jerk and hiss Kaoru let out at the touch. “Whoa, you good? Are you hurt?”

“No, I’m not- what are you doing?” Said teen yelped when Kojiro began tugging at his shirt, shoving it up to look at the skin. “Get your hands off me, you damn gorilla!”

“Please- like we haven’t seen each other naked before.” The green haired teen rolled his eyes as he stared at the skin. No bruises, no marks- nothing sticking out. So why did he-

A lightbulb went off. Ah. Maybe Kaoru was onto something about those brain cells..

“Kojiro, what are you-Ah! Dohohohn’t!” The pink haired teen leaned away when Kojiro prodded at the skin once more, starting to smile. “Lehehehet me gohohohooho!”

“I’m not holding you down, bud. Man- I didn’t know you were ticklish!” Feeling a bit bold, he switched from gentle prodding to proper squeezing, laughing when Kaoru all but flailed backwards at the feeling. “I’m barely touching you and you’re laughing so much!”

“Shuhuhuhuht uhuuhuhuhp! Aheahhahhaahha, yohohoohohu soohohohn of a-Gehahahhah nohohohohohono nohohohot thehehheheere!” He arched with an embarrassing squeal when Kojiro shoved his hands up his shirt, drilling into his highest ribs. “Yoohohohur hahahhahds are cohohohohold, yoohohohu behehahhahast!”

“Damn, first a gorilla, then a beast- what’s next in the animal kingdom you’re gonna call me?” Kojiro tsked, softening the entire time as his friend kicked and howled beneath him. “I know- a tickle monster! That sounds about right- get ready, cause I’m gonna eat you whole!”

Kaoru. Kaoru was so pretty.

That thought had crossed through young Kojiros mind far too often. His best friend since childhood had always had feminine features, and his pastel pink hair made him look even cuter than ever. But as they reached highschool and Kaoru grew, Kojiro saw him become more alternative, held his hand as he got his piercings and laughed when Kaoru complained about the pain the following days. 

Kaoru was so pretty. 

“The hell are you thinking about?” 

Kaoru was talking to him.

“Huh? Nothing.” Kojiro would respond.

“Yeah right, you keep staring at me. What, have something in my hair?”

That gorgeous pink hair Kojiro had spent many nights wanting to play with, and had let himself slip up and indulge on sleepovers when Kaoru asked for help braiding it. 

“No, you’re as ugly as always, don’t worry.”

“Asshole.” Kaoru would laugh.

The walk to school in spring was never this distracting. Usually Kojiro would admire the pretty trees filled with pink petals that fell around them, but this time his eyes were elsewhere. Small glances he allowed himself to steal. Kojiro thought himself the luckiest man in the world. And then Kaoru would pull his hair back to tie into a ponytail. Smooth delicate fingers easily gliding through soft hair, some of his loose hairs framing Kaoru's face effortlessly. A gorgeous show in which Kojiro felt he was going mad. A heat rising to his cheeks.

“What are you lookin’ at? Idiot.”

Kaoru was so pretty.

Kojiro didn’t bother asking why Karou was standing at his door in the pouring rain at 1 am, he just held the door open and let the other in. “Come on, let’s get you cleaned up.”

His boyfriend couldn’t look at him, his long pink hair drenched and hiding his face. Even so, Kojiro could hear the faint sniffles and see the shakiness of his frame. Once the door shut, he fell against his chest, clutching onto him for dear life.

“I don’t…I don’t want to go back.” He whispered, voice scared and low. Kojiro cradled him in his arms, burying his face against his soaked crown.

“You don’t have to. You can stay with me.” He kissed him again and again, rocking him gently in his arms as tears leaked down Karou’s face, quaking with sobs. “I’m here. I’ve got you…”

Time passed, tears fell, and silent promises to help were made as Karou pulled himself back, wiping at his face. His eyes were so red, and his cheek…

Oh god his cheek…

“The shower is set up- and yes I have your hair stuff there.” Kojiro kept his voice cheery as he inched towards the freezer, going to get ice. “Get cleaned up and we’ll watch a movie, okay?”

Karou barely nodded, slowly making his way to the bath. Once gone, the green haired teen pressed his face against the freezer door, tears of frustration leaking down his face.

I’ll kill them. How dare they- How fucking dare they-

Then he breathed, looking up at the ceiling. No. There were better ways to handle it. He pulled out his phone, shooting a few quick text messages

When Karou came back, hair wet and dressed in Kojiro’s oversized sweats, he found his boyfriend on the couch, smiling softly. “Come here. I saved food from earlier if you're hungry.”

“You always were a good cook.” Karou spoke, cracking the first real smile since arriving. He let himself be pulled into Kojiro’s arms, squished against his side as his boyfriend pressed the ice pack against his cheek. “What are we watching?”

The heavy stuff can wait until the morning. Right now- Kojiro’s only goal was to make Karou feel safe.
