𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄: hey so i actually came up with a list for both hehe! i had a lot of fun coming up with playlists for them so i went a little overboard with the examples but here they are!

for dante, i feel like he’d so be into a mix of older rap and club/party music, and that it's usually his go to. i think he shamelessly would also listen to some of that good old emo music (he heard gene listening to it when he was younger so he thinks it’s cool and has a lot of nostalgia listening to it) but it’s not his main thing. gene would listen to tejano music as well, but we all know dante is the no sabo kid of the family ahahhaa so he has a few he likes but it’s not his main genre he listens to.

zenix would be into rap and rock as well, but definitely more into screamo and like, “hardcore”(by his definition)(nerd) songs? lol, he still can appreciate calmer music too, but he definitely prefers music that is constantly attacking his eardrums. it's giving what i listened to as an angry teenager(sometimes now), and honestly? yeah, as he should (please get therapy, zenix).

bokuaka headcanons but it's mostly me projecting onto them bc i love them with my whole heart and soul

bokuto doesn't speak for a short time when he wakes up (i'd like to say he goes nonverbal but i'm not too sure if i understand what it means enough to say it)

bokuaka watches stranger things together and [SPOILERS TO THOSE WHO HAVEN'T WATCHED STRANGER THINGS S4 OR ST AT ALL]

^^ bokuto BAWLED during eddie's death and akaashi wrote steddie fics to console bokuto <33 (FIC WRITER AKAASHI AND BOKUTO HIS BETA READER AND TARGET AUDIENCE, THE CROWD CHEERS!!!!!!!!!!)

bokuto also screamed during the steddie scenes and bokuaka are steddie shippers don't change my mind

akaashi's parents are divorced (woah that's a 180) but they still love him (or, in his perspective, claim to but really they just don't know how to show it properly which is also one of the reasons their marriage failed lmao) and they work 9 to 5's so akaashi's almost always alone at home

akaashi writes poems and fics about bokuto (bokuto x reader bc he's delusional) and bokuto doesn't know about it (has seen a few of the poems bc akaashi's stupid and leaves it displayed on his desk but doesn't know they're about him--not that he can read it anyway)

akaashi's normal handwriting is barely legible because it's rushed cursive. like you seriously have to take the time to understand the pattern in his writing (aaannndd i just remembered that in japan you have to have neat handwriting to read the letters properly. IMAGINE THIS WOULD BE HIS HANDWRITING IN ENGLISH ALPHABET)

akaashi also likes to do traditional calligraphy!!! (now when i first made this headcanon i didn't realize calligraphy in "english" and calligraphy in japan were ENTIRELY different BUT PLEASE let me have this one or he could do both)

akaashi's favorite ink color is gold because it reminds him of bokuto's eyes but bokuto's favorite ink color are those dark teal green shades (seek reference: diamine's teal or aurora borealis or pilot ink's syo-ro) that remind him of akaashi's eyes (coincidentally those are also my favorite)

AKAASHI LISTENS TO CIGARETTES AFTER SEX (CAS) AND LOVES EVERY SONG BUT SPECIFICALLY "Heavenly" IS HIS FAVORITE FAVORITE BECAUSE IT'S THE FIRST SONG HE LISTENED TO (did you guys know i actually got this from a wattpad fanfic i read a few years back and they linked a youtube playlist [which i forgot to save🙁 but it was my first exposure of cas and look at me now i'm obsessed] that was supposed to be akaashi's playlist)

completely based on vibes alone. i was going to add bruce springsteen but i forgot :(. i think that bobby belts in the air tonight on his way to work every morning and if he pulls up before the song is over, he stays in the truck with the windows up until it’s done.

idk i just feel like he listens to really bad music. as you can see, to me he is unironically an ice spice fan. i actually fw gwen stefani, but the everybody else on his top 5 is trash imo. obviously, art is subjective, but i feel like 4/5 of his top artists are universally acknowledged as terrible. i also feel like he doesn’t know he has garbage music taste and actually insists it’s superior to everybody else’s. they will not hesitate to put him in check though.

hen:

this is also based off vibes but also kinda pulled from music aisha has put on her story (namely that she is a fan of rap/hip-hop). also hen is canonically a beyoncé fan and i think we should acknowledge that more. it was a toss between noname and rapsody for a moment, but i reeeeally like noname 🤷🏽‍♀️ no hate to my girl marlanna though. in my head hen and buck went to a migos concert together and screamed when they came out. i also think that she was a fan of drake when he first came up, but post-scorpion he kinda fell off so she leaves his newer shit alone. when denny’s in the car she plays age-appropriate common songs for the social commentary and life lessons they provide. because of this denny’s favorite song is currently the light.

buck:

lowkey inspired by obama’s summer playlist, but a little less eclectic because there’s overall less on it. originally i had blackpink and iu on his top artists and songs, but i changed my mind because ptv fan buck is very important to me. i feel like his music taste as a whole has probably been derived from all the people in his life, which is why aaliyah’s try again is number one on his top songs. we know that maddie used to pick him up from school and i cannot get the image of a young buck was in the passenger seat of the jeep singing his heart out to whatever love song he definitely cannot relate to out of my head, sooo…here we are. i have a lot of thoughts about his music taste but that is for another post.

eddie:

this was literally the easiest one i did. i also think he likes corridos but there were too many artists in the pool if i included them so i kept it down to country. i feel like nobody who follows me knows what corridos are, but just know that eddie’s love of corridos is included in pretty much all of my writing featuring him. ofc i had to put selena on there because i love selena and i think that eddie, being the tejano man that he is, also enjoys selena. idk why whiskey whiskey is on there. let’s just say he’s in his edmundo noches era or something idc. he also likes to listen to songs that chris liked when he was little because he thinks it’s funny when he covers his ears and stares out the window, but also a little bit because he misses baby chris in the backseat singing along to florida georgia line. he is very delighted in five years when chris takes his girlfriend to a florida georgia line concert as a date though.

ravi:

this one was harder because Ravi The Landlord definitely listens to the fit and fresh podcast on his way to work in his stupid cybertruck (because i know he has one okay) but also i feel like he has to listen to music, so i took songs off my spotify wrapped from last year. i don’t actually like drake that much, but her loss was my SHIT when it first came out + i do think that ravi very much enjoyed search & rescue. he is team kendrick for all intents and purposes though. unfortunately ravi and i are both sufferers of rod wave syndrome. nobody lets ravi pick the music at any event because he will put on great gatsby. i also think he likes kevin gates but that’s something i will not be addressing today.

(this is inspired the song el tejano by lauv and sofia reyes (which i recommend). you don't really need to know the song/lyrics to read it, but it would probably give context for certain details.)

The grating sound of a creaky window being opened filled the dorm room, replacing the sound of Deuce aggressively typing up an essay that was due later that week. He didn’t look up, as he knew it was his closest companion, sneaking through the window. Was there even a curfew on weekends? No, but what Heath didn’t know wouldn’t hurt. 

Heath climbed into the room and threw himself down on his roommate’s bed, sighing dramatically. Deuce kept his eyes on his laptop and paid him no mind. Heath sat up and sighed even louder, which sounded more like a strangled scream.

Deuce chuckled to himself and rolled his desk chair towards the bed. He reached out to stop the chair from hitting the footboard and smiled at his best friend.

“Well, someone sure wants my attention,” Deuce said smugly.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Ask me how my day was!” Heath kicked off his shoes and brought his legs up to sit cross-legged. 

“And you can’t just tell me, because…?”

“Because…suspense,” Deuce rolled his eyes, “and because no one else asked how my day was going the entire time I was out,” Heath said with a slight pout.

“Fine,” Deuce turned around to sit backward in his chair and crossed his arms over the back, “How was your day, Heath?”

Heath flailed his hands in excitement, “Great question!” Deuce held back a laugh, “I went to the park, made friends with some zombie dogs, and saw a flyer for this new nightclub place for teens. I went because, duh, and it was decorated to have this beachy vibe and I love the beach.”

Deuce nodded along, “Mhm…”

“And I stayed there for the rest of the night. but, there’s more!” Heath clapped his hands together. 

“How can there be more if you stayed there all night?” 

“I met a girl! I, Heath Burns, met a girl!” 

“Huh, good for you, man,” Deuce pushed himself off the bed and attempted to keep writing his paper.

“Wait, wait, I gotta tell you all about it,” Heath climbed off the bed and headed towards his side of the room, just barely saving himself from tripping over his sneakers. 

“Fine, but I gotta finish this,” Deuce gestured to his open document, “I promise I’m listening, go ahead.”

Heath plopped down into his own desk chair, “So you know Nirvana right? That human band?” Deuce hummed and nodded. “Apparently, there are Spanish covers of their songs, which is a sentence I never thought I’d say, but they were, like, the majority of the playlist.”

Deuce furrowed his eyebrows and looked at Heath, “Nirvana of all bands has multiple covers in Spanish?” 

“Yuh, and me and the girl just danced to them and talked all night. What did we talk about?” Heath didn’t wait for Deuce to answer, “Great question”.

Deuce chuckled to himself as he finished a paragraph. 

“I learned a lot about her, like, she’s from the Himalayas, and she actually knows some of the same people we do. She knows Cleo and Lagoona and even Clawdeen, isn’t that so interesting?” Deuce nodded absentmindedly. “She even asked me if I watched that human show, um…” Heath searched his brain for the title, “Friends! That’s it!” 

“Oh, that show about the six friends in the coffee shop or whatever?” Deuce leaned back in his chair looking over his last couple of paragraphs. 

“Yeah! I told her that Phoebe was probably my favorite character so far.”

“The blonde one?” Deuce asked.

“Mhm, and she actually agreed with me and we laughed and laughed.”

“How did you of all people, no offense, get a girl to talk to you and dance with you? For such a long period of time?” Deuce started a new paragraph and slightly laughed at the idea of Heath fumbling over his words trying to ask a girl to dance.

“Well actually, you jerk, she came up to me. I had just ordered some salsa for my chips, I had chips, I didn’t think it was important to mention, and she walked up to me. She asked if she could sit with me and try some of my food.”

“And you let her, because only you would share your food with an absolute stranger,” Deuce said, saying the last part under his breath.

“I heard that, and yes, I did. She sat down and asked me if the salsa was mild. I stupidly said that it was hotter than mild because I thought it would impress her but turns out she has problems with hot food. Deuce, I almost scared her away!”

Deuce couldn’t keep his laughs quiet anymore and let a loud guffaw leave his mouth, “See, this is why I didn’t believe that you were able to keep her interested enough to dance with you.” 

“Rude, but I quickly took it back and said it was a joke. She stayed, thank gods, and then one of the Nirvana covers came on, she pulled me to the dance floor, I, of course, had to keep my fire under control, and the rest is the greatest love story to ever take place.”

“Sounds like an amazing night, Heath. What was her name?” Deuce finished up his final paragraph and hit save. Should he have proofread it? Sure, but he might as well give the end of Heath’s story his full attention.

“Yeah...about that, once the club got closer to closing time, she left pretty quickly, and I never…actually caught her name…” 

Deuce stopped moving. He did not hear that right, he couldn't have, “You don't,” Deuce closed his eyes in preparation for disappointment, “know her name?” 

“No, I do not,” Deuce could practically hear the sheepish look Heath had on his face as he spoke. 

Deuce did a sharp inhale and pinched the bridge of his nose, “I mean this in the nicest way possible, dude, you're hopeless.” 

“Yeah, I know. But what matters is that she seemed to be having fun and I know I had fun,” Heath got out of his chair and started to change into his pajamas. “That’s a win in my book.” 

“A win is a win,” Deuce reluctantly said. 

Heath finished getting dressed and sprawled out on his bed, “I wonder if she’s thinking about me right now.”

“Maybe, Heath, maybe.”

On the other side of the school was a blue-skinned girl and her friends gathered in a circle. Giggles left the friends’ mouths as the girl spoke.

“He assured me that the salsa wasn’t actually that hot and so I tried it, it was really good, and we just hit it off right away,” it was hard for Abbey to keep her excitement in check as she recounted the story of the boy she had met that night. 

“And then what happened?” Lagoona chirped.

“Then the music changed and I dragged him to the dance floor,” Abbey took a second to chuckle to herself, “He was such a bad dancer,” another chuckle fell from her lips.

“Oh, I’m so sorry,” Ghoulia reached a hand to Abbey’s knee in comfort.

“No, no, it was endearing. I loved how bad he was at dancing because he knew he was bad but he was so confident about it. It made me laugh.”

Ghoulia hummed and took her hand away. 

“Ya know, orange skin, red hair, I think I know the guy you’re talking about,” Cleo, who had been trying to act like she didn’t think Abbey’s story was absolutely adorable, finally chimed in to the conversation, “What was his name again?”

“Oh, I never actually asked for it. I didn’t tell him mine either. Guess that wasn’t my smartest move,” Abbey said, giggling to herself. 

“You utter fool,” Cleo reprimanded her but couldn’t stay mad at her very happy friend. 

“Yeah, I know. But I had so much fun, guys, and I think he did too. I swear I saw his hair become fire for a second when we were dancing.” 

Cleo definitely knew who the guy was by now but she held her words. Why ruin the moment by letting everyone know that Abbey was dancing with Cleo’s ex’s best friend? Besides, it was bound to be funny when the two would inevitably run into each other when classes started in a couple days.

What sort of music would your OCs listen to/do they represent ?

The easy answers would be

Isabelle loves Metal music, anything from the 2000s has a soft spot in her heart and reminds her of her youth. She's also a huge fan of Mexican Huasteco, mainly because she's a dancer, but also enjoys Yolanda Del Rio when it comes to Mariachi <3 I associate the song La Hija De Nadie the most with her!

Lola loves orchestra and Piano, she's very fond of ballet pieces like the Nutcracker and Swan Lake because she grew up dancing Ballet. I do however heavily associate her with Kate Bush, and credit The Wedding List as her song!

Dalia loves alt rock and things of that nature. I've always imagined her being a big fan of The Smashing Pumpkins and Siouxsie and the Banshees! Her entire character was inspired by a song by Fever the Ghost :3

Kylie loves trashy 2000s Pop and is a VERY dedicated Kesha fan, she loves anything loud, fun, and danceable!

Viv is a fan of electronic alt, she really loves Tikkle Me and Grimes, she was heavily inspired by the song Blow My Brains out!

Florist love love LOVES New wave and 80s rock music. It makes her feel comfortable and nostalgic, and is strangely one of the few things she can remember. She's a huuuuge Talking Heads fan!!!

Miss Guijarro finds enjoyment in 80s rock and old New Wave like Japan, DEVO, and Oingo Boingo. She likes the slower paced songs and listens to music to calm her down from panic attacks :3

Elodia of course, loves V-Kei and goth music! She's super into Malice Mizer, Versailles, and Unlucky Morpheus! I'd imagine that she's also pretty fond of classical music as well :3

Belladonna LOOVES Latin Jazz and performs with her very own band all the time! She's also obsessed with old swing music, stuff from the 1940s and jazz from the 20s. Donna loves Bachata and Merengue as well, as any latina should!!

Feliz is a fan of rap music, such as SPM or ICP, but has a soft spot for Latin rock like Malo, and Tejano like Selena!

Leo is a classical music enjoyer all the way, and he owns tons of vinyl records with Waltzes on em. He also has a soft spot for Tom Lehrer, and loooves Mark Bernes, a Russian singer from the 1940s. Such old music reminds him of the music his parents would play, and he looks back fondly on him and Lola listening to the songs as kids.

Isaiah goes crazy for Mexican 90s Ska, as well as Boleros. He also has a bit of a soft spot for Mariachi, as he used to play as one. I think that the song "Pachuco" by Maldita fits him very well! :3
