A lot's been said about romance in Doctor Who but what gets me is even if we were to entertain the idea of romance being the height of love and human experience, the demographics of who actually gets to explore this are very interesting. Minus Thasmin and Jack lipsing Nine, most Doctor's are men with women as love interests. Rose, Clara, River Song, Madame de Pompadour, Queen Elizabeth I, Lady Christina, Joan Redfern... if love is so enriching and powerful and lovely and human... why couldn't the Doctor's male incarnations be enriched by men or people that aren't women? Where were the Doomsday episodes of him crying for the man he loves but could never see again? We get throwaway lines and jokes about the Doctor liking men in male incarnations but actual TenRose or DoctorRiver moments, swelling music as he kisses the man of his dreams? They're lacking. Which is peak for "the gay blue box show". Same can be said for the women of Who. We sat through Tennant lipsing women across the galaxy but one hypothetical Thasmin kiss has articles and essays and video essays... All this hotion and commotion about the *idea* of sapphic love. Obviously the show would wanna avoid sexualisation (as it should) but the immediate hush hush around representing romance (and sex too tbh) from a woman's POV and pearl clutching of a kiss between two women shows the scales aren't even.
And it extends to race too. How many Black couples and couples of colour actually got their universe defying love on screen? How many times is Black love, Black people in love and love of POC actually celebrated? Martha's parents split so Clive could date a young blonde. TenMartha couldn't thrive platonically or romantically because she "wasn't Rose" enough for Ten. Umbreen and Prem were doomed from the start. Graham lost Grace. Ryan lost Bella. Ryasmin never went anywhere and never can because Thasmin got picked instead. We got Bill and Heather at the expense of Bill losing her human body forever and the dark skin girl she dated never being mentioned ever again (Remember Penny? The show doesn't!). We all know what happened to RoseMickey and ClaraDanny so they're automatically ruled out. So who've we got left? Bell and Vinder (not too shabby)? That West Indian couple from Planet of the Dead? Its not looking good bruv.
Look I get why people see the magic and wonder of romance but it doesn't feel so magical if we only see it reserved for certain demographics. The false equating of romance making us human is one thing (as if single/unpartnered people are "less human") but when we only see that "humanity" through white non-aspec cishet couples... what is the show saying about people who's romance is different? For people who don't have romance at all? What are YOU saying about those people?
Romance in Doctor Who isn't the problem but amatonormativity definitely is.

fascinated that in toeing the line of "the doctor both is and is not asexual, and because the show is ostensibly sexier now there should be imagery of especially david tennant and various women (shockingly no men with ten) smooshing lips," it means that the doctor only ever instigates a kiss when it's got some scifi-type reason behind it, even starting with nine removing the time vortex from rose.
so only counting lip-to-lip contact for a second here*:
jack kisses the doctor (the parting of the ways)
nine removes the time vortex from rose (the parting of the ways)
cassandra kisses the doctor (new earth)
madame de pompadour kisses the doctor (the girl in the fireplace)
jackie kisses the doctor (army of ghosts)
the doctor leaves a DNA print on martha (smith and jones)
martha gives the doctor cpr (smith and jones)
john smith kisses joan (human nature)
astrid kisses the doctor (voyage of the damned)
the doctor kisses astrid goodbye as she dies (voyage of the damned -- only instigation on the doctor's part of any kiss)**
donna shocks the doctor out of being poisoned (unicorn and the wasp)
christina de souza kisses the doctor in planet of the dead and is overall very flirtatious at him in a way that almost feels like idk. an anti-romance plot. it's like everything that came before (and tbh... also amy and river song) in terms of "sexy" doctor-and-companion tension is lampshaded and made a bit silly. I don't know if this is just because the actress and dtennant have minus chemistry, but it's very funny that this is the final flirting + kiss and it's so very... "shrug, you're not going to be my companion, okay, goodbye"
*I think the only time the doctor even jokingly talks about kissing is in dalek's of manhatten, when martha and bby andrew garfield/frank have been captured and the doctor arrives. martha expresses her relief, and the doctor says something along the lines of: "well, you can kiss me later. you too frank, if you want." this is to diffuse a very scary/tense situation
**I tend to read the astrid final kiss as a kindness/comfort rather than romantic interest or sexual interest. because she is dying. and she kissed the doctor earlier, and is very scared
but wait! tentoo and rose were really going at it, you say! tentoo is part human/specifically human in a donna sense. tentoo is also super up for settling down and having a monogamous relationship, which isn't exactly the doctor's style in any regeneration. so yeah.. tentoo is another part of the tightrope, just like john smith. change the doctor into someone who is almost-but-not-quite the same, enough plausible deniability and voila, it's almost like the doctor is kissing someone, but crucially, the doctor still Is Not. in tentoo's case, the doctor is in fact watching it happen with a somewhat despondent look, before turning and leaving without waiting for rose to say goodbye. because, youknow. canonically the doctor cannot give rose what she wants (because he's not alloromantic/allosexual because he's an immortal alien) so it's better just to leave
lastly flirting: the doctor does flirt, but not often. the most flirtatious the doctor gets outside of above kissing line is when jack briefly joins nine and rose, and I'd call that the jack-contagion (affectionately, it's a good thing). ten, actually, flirts... less. comparably. (and hilariously is annoyed that jack flirts so much around him) a bit with rose in christmas invasion and new earth, but apart from the "sexy" wink, not very overtly. I mean, maybe I'm very ace, but I think they do banter rather than flirting. the one time the doctor interprets something as flirting that funnily enough isn't is when rose is talking to a cat. the doctor similarly gets flirted at (madame de pompadour, shakespeare code, martha several times, health and safety, silence of the library) but doesn't tend to enjoy it or often even notice it

Two songs I think would describe my relationship with each doctor (nuwho)
A/N: i clicked on a video expecting chaotic doctor who TikTok’s but instead got edits and now all I can think about is what song would play if someone made an edit of me and the doctor. These headcanons are very self indulgent lmao so maybe read at your own risk(nothing too scandalous lmao)
Tw: some cursing maybe, the genre is really sorta fluffy and angsty so idk what to put as a trigger warning idk.
Bc: at least 4 for each 1 for each song and 1 explanation for each of those songs
Doctor who Masterlist
Nine
Until I Found You-Stephen Sanchez and Em Beihold
Okay for this song it’s just if he had never met Rose and I was in her place. Because I do think that whoever he meets at this time(if he likes them) will change how he views everything like she did. Like he needed somebody in this point in time to show him how wonderful the universe could be again after he had lost everything. This song gives those vibes
Snowman- Sia
This is because he’s a sad sad angry man and like, I don’t want him to be sad. This entire song is just me and my sad bf I don’t want him to be sad but no matter what it’s him and me because who else is there?
Ten
Stay With Me- Miki Matsubara
If you read the English lyrics the song is Sadge and I think it fits what I think would be my vibe with him. He will never admit if he has feelings for me(prolly not lmao) and this is just him being like love and affection are different things and i have affection for you. And like just wanting to stay in the moment if not having to be upset because of feelings or anything, just want everything to be good so I can hold on to the good moments.
Heather- Conan Gray
Okay so I’m going with my own AU of me just being the companion of each doctor and like maybe stuff happening in between? I think at this point, the doctor wouldn’t really either admit if he does or doesn’t have feelings for me and ends up falling for someone else while we travel. Like maybe the Family of Blood happens or something in this universe and I get Martha-ed(she’s the loml and I’ll never forgive the show for doing her dirty) by him. This is just me being angsty.
Eleven
My Love Mine All Mine-Mitski
Literally just how i feel about him. I’m the only companion and the only one he ever sails off with, he’s mine all mine in a way. I love him, and even if the song is talking about requited love, mine is probably delulu and this is me being all head over heels prolly
Honey-Kehlani
Again a sappy song. Out of everyone else in the entire universe he somehow chose me to travel with him, because of him I finally found what I wanted to do with my life (be with him) cute cute cute but also delulu
Twelve
Shinuoga E-Wa -Fujii Kaze
If we’re going based off canon things, the doctor was kinda insecure about this new face(because it’s older? I’m going off of what lizard lady was talking about to Clara) and this is just me being like I really don’t care what you look like I’d rather die than be without you
A Thousand Years- Christina Perri
Like the last song this is literally me being like YOURE STILL ATTRACTIVE MY FEELINGS HAVENT CHANGED PLS :)
Thirteen
Take Me to Church- Hozier
I feel like out of these doctors that thirteen was more so of like…I’m keeping all of my personal information personal? Idk like the others knew more about the doctor than the fam knew? At least before their last season. So I feel like at this point she would be lying about a bunch of shit and I’d be like “okay :) I’ll believe everything you’re saying even though I know for a fact your bullshitting me rn”
Love Story- Indila
This is more so the second verse. Me being like “lmao I’m never leaving you” and her being like “I’m literally being an asshole and I forgot how to love” and me being like “idc I’ll literally fight for you. If you ignore me I’ll just offer you my life” kinda insane but also like an undying love sorta thing
Fourteen is the same as ten but less angsty :)
Fifteen
Best Friend-Doja Cat and Saweetie
Atp I think that our relationship probably would’ve evolved to a couple that has been together for a million years but instead of being tired of each other were more like best friends to the point where everyone thinks everything has always been platonic. Fifteen is a bad bitch I love him <3
I Will Always Love You- Whitney Houston
Because fifteen is still hella angsty. He’s acting like the therapy worked but it just helped him deal with everything probably. He needs to remember that no matter what I’ll always love him.

Even more headcannons about Rhett and his feral sons (Rhett Abbott x Reader)
Tumblr media
You absolutely love and adore your sons, but oh are there days where it leaves you and Rhett wondering how they got to be so feral
Rhett was out working one morning and the twins came running back screaming about something cool they found, all you heard was Rhett shouting "NO TATUM THAT'S A COPPERHEAD!!!! PUT IT DOWN OR YOU'RE GONNA GET BIT!!!!"
And when he was fixing the fence one day, all Rhett saw was T-Bone, the herd patriarch, running behind his two boys who were running towards the other end of the pasture.......turns out the bull was herding THEM
Joy and Martha have a piece of land that's close to the lake on the reservation over the hill from the Abbotts which used to belong to Joy's great-grandparents. Amy and Hannah will usually play with Rose while the boys traipse off with Joy and Martha's son, Charlie. Rhett got a text later that day which was a video of the three boys knocking each other off the dock with whiffle-ball bats
Oh and when Papa has to watch them?? That's a whole different story
One day, Royal was watching them and the two little demons came running downstairs with their shirts over their heads screaming that they were "the Great Cornholio" and that they "needed t.p for their bungholes". Turns out Royal had kicked Perry out a while back but forgot that Perry had left his tv in his room and it was stuck on the channel showing Beavis and Butthead
Rhett came home one afternoon that Royal had been watching the grand-ghouls and found them both sitting on the edge of the bathtub, covered in all the washable paint you had gotten them to use on big sheets of paper. You and Rhett were laughing your asses off
There was also one time where the boys dressed in their Indiana Jones costumes that Cecelia had made them for when Halloween came around. They had snuck into the yard of the local church hag because somebody in their little gang of ranch and rez brats had lost their baseball in her yard. The boys snuck in and the nasty woman had chased them all the way back to the property but Royal, Rhett, you and Cecelia were laughing when they came leaping over the fence with the baseball and several other lost-in-the-yard toys under their arms
You guys were getting ready for church one Sunday and it was one where Rhett had to be a reader during services. You had all the kids dressed in their Sunday best but when Tatum and Tanner were nowhere to be found, you and Rhett saw them running around the corner all covered in dirt. Rhett literally had ten minutes to spray them with the garden hose and get them in a fresh set of clothes
Speaking of the garden hose, the two buttheads love to spray each other. You, Rhett and Royal don't mind seeing as the outside of the house and the windows get cleaned but one day they got their Nana with the hose and it was the biggest "oh shit" moment ever
"Roy, I knew those two little buttheads were trouble the minute Rhett showed us (y/n)'s ultrasound photos"
The boys found a giant bullfrog in the pond one day when you took the kids up to visit the Duttons and the boys named this monster frog, "Michigan J. Frog" after their favorite Bugs Bunny character. They'd even sing the song which would have John and Royal laughing their asses off and Rhett biting his lip, trying not to laugh
You and Rhett live for moments like this though
Because even on your hardest days, your boys will always give you a reason to laugh

i feel like infodumping so here is my opinion of every new who companion!!
Rose Tyler
shes the og, shes That Girl, she is the moment! (lol, get it?) Rose was one of the best companions fr. her love story with the doctor is so beautiful and so tragic and honestly, he Needed her. ninerose >>> tenrose i said what i said. 9/10
Jack Harkness
very fun character! they kinda ruined him in torchwood a little bit. some of the earliest explicit queer rep in mainstream media i ever saw, if not the first! i loved his dynamic with rose and nine. 8/10
Mickey Smith
my sweet boy, my babygirl. he deserved so much better fr. dont get me wrong, i love Rose, but the way she treated Mickey was so mean. also the doctor hated his ass for no reason other than he was competition for Rose's affection. plastic Mickey was iconic. 8/10
Martha Jones
ICON!!! QUEEN!!!! i Love Martha soooo much. she was the only companion to Get Out and i love that for her, she deserved it. she slayed fr. however i do kinda hate that most of her character was simping for ten like. girl. stand up. 9/10
Donna Noble
Oh My God, incredible. cant wait to get her back!!!! the adipose scene through the windows???? hilarious, i can quote every word!!! she gave the doctor a run for his money and i love that for her. she was exactly what he needed after Rose and Martha, just A Mate. 10/10
Amy Pond
my favourite companion!!! eleven was My Doctor tho so thats probably why. every episode of season 5 is a banger. i love that she and Rory and River became a family to the doctor. love her. little Amelia is so cute and grown up Amy is a total badass. fish custard/10 10/10
Rory Williams
my beloved <3 hes so boyfriend fr. raised my standards as a kid. he waited 2000 years for her ;-; 10/10
River Song
hello sweetie :)
i love that her story was told backwards, very interesting narrative choice! knowing that she was always doomed to the library was so tragic. learning all of her secrets over each series was very fun and satisfying!! 10/10
Clara Oswald
hmm. not one of my favourite companions. she's ok i guess? the impossible girl thing was kinda cool but i dont really like her as a character. 5/10
Bill Potts
YESSSS! i love lesbiabs. lessbiens. women. her ending was super sad tho :(
she was cool and fun and gay 9/10
Yasmin Khan
hrm. boring. didnt have much of a personality, not really her fault the writing was just so shit. she had potential!! thasmin 4 lyfe! 4/10
Ryan Sinclair
yea. no. dont like how they made his dyspraxia a fun quirky thing that he just. magically got over somehow??? its a literal disability. my brother has it. it could have been so interesting to see how that manifested over the course of his travels with the doctor but its almost like they just. forgot about it?? also he was boring as hell. 2/10
Graham O'Brien
i literally didnt even remember his surname, i had to look it up. he was just kinda. there. a little more interesting than Ryan i guess?? but. still. 2/10
Concluding remarks
looking forward to Donna coming back and meeting the new companions!!! i hope the writing is better in this season :/ chibbers was Not It. anyway. thanks for reading my silly little ramble!! special interest go brrrr

'Doctor Who is arguably the best show around. An alien travelling anywhere at any time around space, what’s not to love? While the Doctor is crucial to the story it’s worth giving some attention to their sidekicks...
6. Rose Tyler
The first companion on this list from the David Tennant years, Rose (Billie Piper) has some of the best moments and stories a companion could ever wish for. She was introduced in the opening episode of the return of Doctor Who back in 2005. Having the episode named after herself. This was a great way to get to know her. She has enough screen time from season one to make her loved. So coming into series two, this was surely only going to blossom even more. Maybe not!
Rose and the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) had a platonic relationship, they bounced off each other. With Tennant, that went and we were introduced to a new dynamic. Rose developed feelings for the Doctor, which people had divided opinions on. She left the show at the right time, but her reappearance in series four added a new dimension, which was great for her and the audience. She’s also probably the most important companion on this list. Everything spiralled from her looking into the time vortex, with her character getting bigger and bigger, but it was maybe too much?...
4. Martha Jones
Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) is arguably the most underrated companion from the whole history of the show, or maybe even the history of television (okay, bit of an exaggeration). The main companion for series three, and a guest for series four, the reasons why some people aren’t fond of her are understandable. She is basically pining over the Doctor. This makes it hard to watch at times, as the Doctor is still getting over Rose.
Her stand out moments though go under the radar. Her character development from series three to four and beyond is noticeable in a positive way. She shifts from needing the Doctor to not, with her becoming a soldier for UNIT. While this may be a controversial move for some, it allowed Martha to really find herself. Over her travels with the Doctor she becomes such a stronger person, what more could you want?
3. Captain Jack Harkness
Funny, energetic and a little bit cheeky, Captain Jack (John Barrowman) is a delight to watch. The first non-full time companion on this list, his small time we get on his appearances are enough to get what the character is and falling in love with it at the same time. Jack’s first appearance came in series one’s “The Empty Child” and followed up several other appearances in series three, four and twelve. With not having much screen time he makes unforgettable moments with the Doctor and the chemistry they have, and fits right in with the Doctor despite the change in actors.
He’s a very unique character who has an interesting story. This develops over the course of his appearances. All his interactions with different characters (and he encounters quite a few) are special for individual reasons...
2. River Song
Not many people can shock the doctor and leave them speechless, River Song (Alex Kingston) is the exception. She has plenty of stories she is apart of, including with Ten, Eleven and Twelve’s era, and is often pivotal to these, too...
1. Donna Noble
Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) is simply the most iconic, talked about and most liked companion from Doctor Who. She takes little bits of everyone who ranked on this list, and puts them together and makes it her own. It helps massively that her era of the show was when it was at a strong point, getting some amazing and fun stories to work on.
Her chemistry with David Tennant is a breath of fresh air from her differences in personality from the other companions he had. There was absolutely no love interest and she made it well known. Yet the love (platonically) and care they had for each other was obvious from the start. Her witty remarks and comebacks to the Doctor made it hilarious at times, but also showed her acting scope, because other times, she was serious and heartbroken with certain events.
Something else she shows more than anyone else, is how much the doctor can be dangerous to travel with. It can be joyful and the best feeling ever. But that works both ways and she portrays that on the screen clearly. All this great stuff she brings, makes us truly weep just thinking about it when even though she doesn’t die, the doctor and donna who travelled through times and space died, with her memory being wiped. She is the most popular by a mile and there is good reason for it. And what makes it even better is that she will be returning in November 2023 alongside David Tennant for the 60th anniversary specials.'

Okay, I'm not gonna lie, some of the opinions I've been seeing about The Giggle are... getting to me, so here are my thoughts:
(ETA: not including any of my thoughts about the Master because this got WAY longer than I expected it to and if I talk about the Master on this it'll become an essay.)
"It's a repeat of Tentoo!" No, it isn't. Not even remotely. The bi-generation was a release of trauma. A release from all the guilt and pain and anguish that the Doctor has been suffering (even more so lately) ever since he started running. The bi-generation was not "lol let's just throw in a double for old times' sake!", it was about healing. It was about growth, and comfort for a heavily traumatised character.
Tentoo was a genetic mishap that never should've existed, and only came about due to unusual and rare circumstances, and ended with devastating consequences. Tentoo added to the Doctor's trauma and guilt, because that's another genocide under his belt, under his name. That's another person - and another civilisation - that he couldn't save. And we don't know what Tentoo got up to in the parallel earth. We assume that he lived happily with Rose, but that's not a guarantee. Look how quick he was to turn to such mass-scale violence in The Journey's End, do you really think that he wouldn't do the same again if he found himself or his family under threat on Earth 2?
Tentoo is Ten's rage. Fifteen is the Doctor healing from all that rage. The two are not the same, narratively or characteristically.
Next: the Companion Roll Call. "Martha wasn't mentioned!" Martha came before Donna, the Toymaker was recounting what happened after Donna. Martha also - as we saw in Ten's farewell tour - was not working for UNIT by the time her story wrapped up. So no, of course she wasn't mentioned. She was not immediately relevant. (Don't bring out the pitchforks yet, just listen.) Yes, it's sad that she didn't get a mention, but looking at it in context makes sense. Martha had the least to lose when she left the TARDIS for good. She didn't die, her entire family is alive (albeit traumatised, as Martha herself is), she was engaged in The Poison Sky/The Sontaran Stratagem, and married to Mickey by the end of The Last of the Time Lords. She was okay. Of all the Doctor's companions, Martha had the happiest possible ending. She was FINE. Look at the context.
You know who else was not mentioned? River Song, as in, the Doctor's literal wife, whose life with the Doctor was evidently just brushed aside with Donna saying that a normal, settled life is "the one adventure you've never had." River and the Doctor lived together for twenty four years. Before that, the Doctor spent eight hundred years, living on Trenzalore, protecting the town of Christmas. He's had a 'normal', settled life before. He has settled and stayed in one place before, more than once, and yet that got brushed aside without a single mention. That bothered me more than anything else, but that might be because I'm also rewatching Twelve's run at the moment, so it's front and centre in my brain.
Now that's all said. Let me get on to the stuff I liked about the special.
First, the bi-generation. I loved it. What a beautiful, brilliant way to reset such an old character. Fifteen feels fresh in a way that none of the past regenerations have felt, in my opinion, and it was beautiful to see the Doctor being so fully and joyfully embraced - both figuratively and literally - by his own self. The pure joy and excitement that Fifteen showed, and the love that he exhibited towards Fourteen, it genuinely made me tear up, which if you know me, you know that is not an easy feat. I think the line "It's so good to see you! So good!" is going to be burned into my brain forever. It was beautiful and it was kind, and it was everything that I never knew I needed to see. And their last hug on the UNIT tower, with Fourteen being cradled by Fifteen so gently, so lovingly, it was so very very necessary. The Doctor has been through so much, has lost so much, and even during that special, he had to endure being mocked by the Toymaker and ignored by Kate Stewart, and after all of that, damnit he deserved a hug, and Fifteen delivered.
I've been worried for a while now about how they could possibly refresh the show and the character of the Doctor coming into this new era on David's coattails, but they fucking nailed it with the bi-generation. Fourteen gets to slow down, he gets to live with the people he loves, his own little family. I have no doubt that he would eventually start reaching out to other former companions, too, like Martha, and Ace and Teagan, and Thirteen's Fam, and everyone else who's still knocking about on Earth. It'll take him some time, I think, but he'll do it, because he really does love them, and he remembers every last one of them. And while he rests, and heals, and lives, Fifteen can carry on the mission of the Doctor. Flying through the universe, saving people and planets, being kind. And he doesn't have to do that with so much weight on his chest anymore. He can see the joy in the universe again that Fourteen had lost sight of under all the weight he had to carry alone. I'm not saying that Fifteen is completely mentally healthy - healing doesn't work like that - but he is freer, and he is going to be brilliant because of that freedom.
Next, goes without saying, I love Ncuti Gatwa. He knocked the ball right out of the park with his first appearance and he had me absolutely hooked from the jump. I've always loved Ten, he's one of my favourite NuWho Doctors, but I'm going to be so honest, I completely forgot that David was even there once he was out of frame because Ncuti captured my attention that strongly. I love his energy, I love his joy, I love his whole attitude. I cannot wait to watch him take on this role. I've genuinely never been so excited for a new Doctor to take the reigns. Every other time, it's felt like a loss, but this time, all I can feel is joy.
Circling back, Fourteen's ending. I needed to see that. I needed that to be on my screen, and I am so fucking happy with it. It reminded me of the very first Christmas special, where Ten joined Rose's family for Christmas dinner. I love the very obvious parallel here, of course, the Doctor joining his best friend and their family for a meal. It's exactly the kind of ending that Fourteen deserved, in my opinion, and I think it was done wonderfully. Placing that emphasis on family, on loved ones, on finding comfort in simplicity, it just felt so good. The Doctor is happy, he's home, he has a family again, and he can just be. He doesn't have to impress them with technobabble or show them the stars, he can just be himself and they'll love him. And I can't even tell you all how fucking important it felt to me to have Fourteen's ending be without romance. (Another thing that differentiates this era from the Tentoo nonsense.) Too many shows - even this one - try to force a "Happy Ending" by saddling the main character with a love interest in a lazy attempt to show the audience that "See, they're happy now!" and it very rarely ever works out. (Remind me to come back later about TentooRose on this topic.) But Fourteen got familial love instead of romantic, and to a demiromantic like myself, that is SO fucking important.
This is getting WAY too long so I'll shut up now, but there. Those are my preliminary thoughts on The Giggle. Please do not dogpile me about the Martha thing, I am REALLY trying to keep everything very neutral about her.

Ten Lines, Ten People
Rules: Share the first 10 lines of your 10 most recently posted fics, and then tag 10 people. I didn't go with exactly 10 lines since how much I should share felt different for each fic, but it's my post so whatever. And I went with 10 recent fics, not the 10 most recent fics due to the fact I'm in Multiamory March rn and that would mess stuff up.
I was tagged by the lovely @mad-elia, so go look at lilies entry first ^-^
“Almost everything you do is unsafe, Darling. At least you have an expert helping you, and a properly trained dragon.”
Bliss
“Oh my god, I forgot you guys are all way too Mormon. Did you not know gay people existed? I think the rest of them know gay people exist.” “No, I didn’t! What’s a gay?” “You, apparently, by how you’re all nervous about this.”
Viva la Gays, Right?
Sparrow, on the other hand, isn't as sweet. He'll only accept a flower if it's shot at him with an arrow, and he calls Daring a dork every time he tries to recite poetry. Instead, the way to his heart is through flattery.
Daring's Affections
“I hate America. Everyone has a gun and three Wasingtonians have threatened to shoot me because I’m on their property so far. That’s how I died the second time, I don’t need that!” “Jack,” Ianto said, voice level over the phone, “you sound American and you have dozens of guns. You do not get to make moral judgments here.” “I’m not making a moral judgment, I’m pointing out how annoying they are.” “Honey, you are also annoying.”
Vampire Hunter
Apple peers through the window, catching sight of a band. Almost all of them are girls, with one guy on the keyboard. He doesn’t catch her interest, though, as she’s too struck by how gorgeous the women in the band are. One has snow-like hair, interrupted by shocks of icy blue. Another one has matching white hair, but in a different style with streaks of pastel pink, matching her rebelliously torn skirt. There’s a girl with hot pink and red mixed into her brown hair, and a fiery, hungry-for-the-world expression plastered across her face. There’s one with a gentle smile, dawning baby blue and playing her instrument with her eyes closed, like she knows the song too intimately to look at it.
You Are Gonna Rock It, Apple! - Chapter 4: Rock Me To The Core
“I miss her, Apple.” “I’m sure.” “Is this what happens to everyone? Bones in the ground that no one thinks about? That get dug up a dozen times? Do we have no life after death?” “Philosophy is for when we’re at school, Raven.”
Ever After Hamlet - Act Five
As is often the case in stories like this, the hero only meets three challenges along her quest. The next figure she meets is her dear Sparrow. But he has obscured himself, his clothes replaced with those of a prisoner and the few items he has stolen. In addition, his time in the woods has changed him. His eyes have a darker look to them, and he’s far from the kept look of most noblemen. As for Cedar, she comes across as a miserable young man, her once perpetually happy face worn tired with grief and longing. Her eyes- those of a widow, while far too young for it to fit. With neither bringing a spark of familiarity to the other, they see each other as they would see any other figure in these woods. As a foe, to be disposed of.
Ballad 150
Good, Martha thinks. She’s no stranger to people getting melted to some degree– she’s seen some weird stuff during her interplanetary travels– but this time it’s deserved. They end up back at Martha’s flat. Kitty’s has been taken back by the landlord, so Martha says that Kitty can crash on her couch as long as she needs. Secretly, Martha hopes it’ll be a while. She hopes it might morph into forever, even, but that part is so secret that she herself doesn’t realize it. Plus, she and Kitty haven’t really solidified into a “something” yet. They’re more of an “almost” for now.
First Kiss
“Listen, you Sparrows and Bluejay have gotten on my nerves for the last time. Tonight you will be given a taste of your own medicine. Again, in trial by combat.” “This is stupid!” “Yeah, this is beep!” “Call it what you want. You all need to chill out.” “Wait,” a cat slinks forward, “are all of the ladies in the stands Cedar?” “Hey!” Bluejay chirps, “my girl is Woodpecker!” The cat defensively puts up his paws and hops backwards. Brooke sighs, “Yes, all of you somehow managed to pull your respective Cedars. How you managed it, I’ll never know.”
Into the Sparrowverse
Serena sits next to him, "You're still upset about that." "I am. But I talked through it with Greninja, and I'll be fine. I just have to ground myself next time I battle." Serena smiles, brushing some snow off of his hair. "You're a lot different from the guy who jumped off Clemont's gym." He shakes his head, "I jumped off a cliff while I was out there to save a Spewpa." "Hm. Maybe jumping off of things to save people is just a core part of who you are, then?"
A Slight Smile
Tagging! @thelivingmemegod @gender-snatched @calebs-hangout-corner @feline17ff @broadwaytheanimatedseries and uhhh @/anyone I don't remember any other URLs at the moment

NOTE: I forgot to post a previous letter to River for his 53rd birthday so I mention it in this post.
rest in peace and happy belated birthday, river. officially, thirty years on,
Tumblr media
i want to say first and foremost happy belated birthday and rest in peace. i cannot believe that it’s officially thirty years since you’ve been gone. it hurts to think and realize that you’ll forever be dead longer than you’ve ever been alive. you truly deserved so much better and a definite better fate than you received.
it’ll forever break my heart that in just a couple years, I’ll be the same age that you died at and a year after that, i’ll be older than my favorite actor who would only be thirty-two years older than me. it hurts and causes such a whiplash to think about how fast time passes by and how older we get especially when we don’t even think about it.
this is something that i often can’t take my mind off of, particularly at times when it’s the birthdays of your close in age peers. for example, your costar, ethan hawke who will be turning fifty-three next week and close friend, companion and costar, martha plimpton who will also be turning fifty-three as well in the upcoming weeks. it’s sad to remember that you had just been three months older than them but instead, they’re now thirty years older.
i hope you know that despite how long it’s been, your movies and all your other acting projects will always be watched and adored. i will always enjoy watching such heartfelt breakout performances with chris chambers, danny pope and mikey waters or laughing so hard with devo nod along with another incredible performance from eddie birdlace.
in addition to this, both chris chambers and mikey waters are two characters that i related to a lot. with chris, i related to him because i understood what it was like to want to completely start over after people believing such false beliefs about themselves. in mikey’s case, in having such deep feelings for someone, in particular a friend and not being sure where it could go but that’s just my interpretation on that.
another thing, I wanted to mention is thank you for the tremendous influence you’ve been to me for these past ten years. you’ve introduced me to a variety of new things throughout this particular decade that i’ve been a fan of yours, i feel as if i learned about myself more through some things.
throughout these ten years, i’ve been both a vegetarian and vegan for both a few years. these are two things that i’m very passionate about, it’s upsetting to me to hear of animals being hurt and killed for our own food. i am the only one in my family who no longer eats meat, chicken or any type of poultry which is certainly difficult but i still try my best to manage.
in fact, i could see myself and most likely will for the rest of my life remain either vegetarian or vegan but not sure which i would remain of the two. i could see myself raising my children if i was to have any as either or. if i was to have children, specifically a son, i’d name him river jude in tribute.
i consistently have these thoughts in my head, always thinking of paying tribute whether with naming a future child after you or getting a tribute tattoo which i will mostly definitely be doing in two years when i turn twenty-three.
in conclusion of everything i mentioned, i want you to know that river, you will never be forgotten and along with your friends and family, we as your fans will always remember you. on august twenty-third and halloween, i’ll forever be thinking of and paying tribute to you in one way or another, with listening to some of your songs and posting tributes while wearing a river phoenix tee or doing the latter while watching some of my favorite movies of yours. you’ll never be forgotten, river jude phoenix and you’ll forever remain special.

top ten favorite bands/musicians tag game
Thank you @findusinaweek for the tag. It should be noted that my favorites really do ebb and flow in and out of favor depending on my mood and what's generally going on in my life. This list is in no particular order. I'm not sure if I could ever truly pick a number one favorite.
Puscifer - my super hot take that usually gets me in trouble with certain kinds of music lovers is that Puscifer (and a Perfect Circle) is leaps and bounds better than Tool. Which is not to say that Tool is bad, it's just that I think Maynard's side projects are better. Fight Me. Actually, don't, I have other things I'd rather waste my time on.
PIG - Really, I love anyone that's been a part of KMFDM at one point or another, but Raymond Watts' solo stuff is among my favorites. His music really embodies sex, drugs & rock n roll, uplifts counter culture and points the finger at problematic aspects of government, religion and society. He's also just a really chill dude who is fun to talk to after shows.
Skinny Puppy - Just saw them in concert last night, on their farewell tour. They've provided me with nearly a life time of music. My uncle, who helped raise me, is a huge fan and he played them a lot when I was a kid, which of course led to me listening to them on my own. It's always been our thing to see them live together, no matter where we are, we figure out how to come together to catch them each tour. Glad we could do it one last time.
Pink Floyd - another band that has been providing the backing music to my like like SP. I love that i can find Pink Floyd music to fit just about any mood, but really, my fondest memories of their music is getting stoned and chilling out. xD Saw Roger Waters live a few years ago and I'm glad he still puts on live shows that really embody the essence of Pink Floyd.
Snoop Dog - good music and an amusing dude. Honestly, these days I just really love his middle aged man vibe, and all the silliness with Martha Stewart. But I did grow up in his musical prime and I'm glad I was around the right people at the right time to get into not just Snoop's music, but others in the genre.
Rammstein - I think my favorite thing about Rammstein, aside from their weird, sometimes unnerving, industrial aesthetic, is just that their music has remained consistently good their entire career and that is so hard to do. Like, there isn't an album of theirs I ignore or songs that I skip. Ok, well their is one exception to that and it's Du Hast, but that's because it got sooooo much radio play in the US that I just do not ever need to listen to it again. LOL But other than that, its all pure gold.
Leonard Cohen - I love this man. His music was brutally honest, and really, the world is just a lesser place without him in it. I usually don't get too worked up when famous people die, i think that sucks and feel a little bummed, but when Leonard Cohen died I will admit to feeling something near to destroyed for quiet some time. If you ever think somethings I say or do is referencing Leonard Cohen, I assure you, it is.
KMFDM - One of the ultimate 'rotating roster of musicians' bands that really fueled my teen age and young adult years. I still love them, always will, but I do feel like they were at their best and freshest when different artists were coming and going and contributing to their sound. The music is less unique from album to album now that they have more of a fixed roster.
Low Roar - I had no idea who Low Roar was before I played Death Stranding, so thank you Kojima for dotting the game with their music. Bummer that their lead singer died last year, that's truly unfortunate.
Jazz - yes, I'm just putting the whole genre here because I don't have a particular favorite artist or group. I just like me some good jazz. I played tenor sax for quiet a few years and my inner sax man still lives on inside me.
I will tag @ainulindaelynn @brasideios @akashadarkblade @mini-uzzy @theinkandthesea @liminalspacecowboah @vault-heck @vdk-hellscape and anyone else that wants to!
