This test batch came out wonderfully! 40g grams, 67 yards of 4 ply wool/recycled sari silk blended on my new blending board that arrived a few weeks ago. It's spent the past two days on a drying rack after I set the twist, now I need to put it on my ball winder... not a process I'm looking forward to.

This was a lot of firsts for me. First time using a blending board, first time spinning silk of any kind, first time spinning four ply yarn, and I am pleased to say I learnt a lot during the process.

Spinning this yarn was... interesting. It came out both exactly like I thought it would and nothing like I thought it would. I hated it and I loved it. 10/10 would spin again. Now I need to find a project for this yarn (the wool came in a 500g bag and I may have gone just a little overboard when buying up sari silk (a little goes such a long way I probably only used 3g in this mini skein) so I'll have plenty of yarn to play with once it's all spun up)

As the semester and my Sumerian class comes to a close, I made a testbatch of cuneiform gingerbread!

This was majorly inspired by this post, though mine didn't turn out as nice and sharp 😅 Well, every scribe has to go through scribe school!

Most of the smaller cookies are not actual Sumerian words, but instead my attempt to write the names of family and colleagues using Sumerian cuneiform :) But there is an Inanna hidden in there!

The long slab of gingerbread, that is a genuine inscription though! (Although I had to cut it into two). It's Gudea008 in the ETCSRI, which you can search here. It's a temple dedication by Gudea, Prince of Lagaš, to the Goddess Dumuzid-abzu.
