The Bold and the Beautiful: Season 1, Episode 1 (1987)
When the episode began, we’re met with a man who has a really amazing hairstyle. We’ll later find out that this is Ridge Forrester. Throughout the episode- I didn’t really think much of him. He wanted to add more sex appeal into the designs, refuses to break up with his girlfriend, Caroline Spencer, due to her father’s, Bill Spencer, worry that he’s a womanizer. He proves to be just that, and can be seen stroking a woman’s cheek. Hey, buddy, that’s not Caroline- that’s a random model. At the end of the episode, he can be seen trying to persuade Caroline to sleep with him- and when he turns him down, saying that she’s waiting to get married to a man before having intercourse with him- he suggests that they get married. I took this as him pressuring her into practically everything, but it’s up to you to decide what you think. I do believe that they hooked up- just seeing the way they were towards the end of the episode.
In the next storyline, we see Katie Logan, the fourteen year old sister of Brooke Logan. Brooke enters her home disheveled, her dress ripped- and she looks worried, shocked, and confused. I already began to assume what happened to her- and my suspicions were confirmed when the police officer, her boyfriend, came to her aide. She dismissed her sister, and told him everything. Two men had tried to rape her- turns out, they’ve tried and succeeded in raping other women before. Brooke hesitates going to the station to look at headshots to identify them- but ultimately agrees- saying that her sisters walk the same streets- and she wouldn’t want any harm to come to them. We can already see that Brooke cares about her siblings deeply.
The twenty minute show ends- and I’m blown away. The acting is surprisingly good- and believable. I’ve only ever seen the newer episodes with Hope, Liam, and Steffy- so seeing the first ever episode has me in awe. They have two main storylines- not five. So far, I’m really loving the show- and seeing the original pilot has me loving it even more.
So, I figured out that if I don’t sleep, eat, or pretty much live for 166 days- I can watch every episode of the bold and the beautiful. Then it got me thinking- I’ll be missing new episodes while watching the old ones. JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL AND MAY THE DUCKING (yes, children, profanity is key) FORCE BE WITH ME.
