@starstruck-critter submitted: any clue what this little guy could be? found in [removed] (please remove location)
This guy is a woman! She’s a big-eyed thick-jawed spider (excellent common name), Pachygnatha autumnalis. That’s a type of long-jawed orbweaver in the family Tetragnathidae :)

Another species of Long-jawed spider from Cooleenup Island. Quite different in colour from the ones I've posted in the past. Fabulous view of the huge jaws that the males and females compare when judging each other as mates

Life is but a Weaving
A Long-jawed Orb Weaver weaving for a living in the Gardens by the Bay. Photo credit: Jonathan Chua.
This was taken with a consumer telephoto zoom that produced excellent resolution in the centre of the optics. So the spider was here placed in the centre of the frame and the image was then cropped to compose in post. This was a 40 percent crop of the original capture.

Howdy! I love your blog so much! Was wondering if you might be able help ID this lil lad(y) i found hanging out between my mailbox and the hand railing. I tried some googling but I'm not the best at that, the closest I could get was some kind of garden spider? I live around the Philly metro area.
Thanks! :)
Spider ID
I know this one, we get them at the park where Paxon works, all the time.

Long boy for sure! Those clubbed pedipalps are very manly. This fella is a long-jawed orbweaver in the family Tetragnathidae.

The Stretch Spiders Have an Interesting Lifestyle
The Stretch Spiders Have an Interesting Lifestyle introduces readers to these interesting little spiders. It points out several reasons that they are unique, and provides photos that show those features.
Hang Up
Oftentimes out by my ponds, I find these long, thin spiders hanging in their horizontal webs above the water. Sometimes the webs are attached to the walls of the pond and others they are spun around the surrounding vegetation. Sometimes I even find the spiders running along the surface of the water just like the fishing spiders can. They are small spiders, and they tend to be kind of…
