Several different types of creatures go by the name "daddy long legs", one of which are the family Pholcidae, also known as cellar spiders. They're found on every continent on Earth except Antarctica, preferring to live in human dwellings generally high out of reach where they feed on various other small invertebrates. © Nature Clearly

Tachypleus syriacus was a horseshoe crab from the late Cretaceous (~100-95 million years ago) of what is now Lebanon.
Closely related to modern tri-spine horseshoe crabs, it displayed a similar level of sexual dimorphism. Females grew to at least 25cm long (~10"), with rounded front edges to their carapaces and shorter rear spines, while males were around 30% smaller with a scalloped shape to the front of their carapaces.
One recently described female specimen also preserves distinctive nodules around the rim of its carapace, which may represent some sort of sensory structure.
This particular specimen is also unique for preserving a coprolite in the process of being expelled from the horseshoe crab's body – that's right, it died while pooping.

spiders
around 2 years ago, i had the idea of "if i were put in charge of a doll line, what would i make?" i settled on the idea of spider gijinkas a la how monster high's characters were inspired by universal movie monster classics, but instead i would be. inspidered. with the selling point idea being 1. VERY different than any other line while still being fashion-forward 2. educational-designs reference lots of Spider Facts and associated webseries would do the same to teach thru characterizations 3. teaching kids to not fear spiders either 4. catering to Weird Bug Kid Demographic (untapped market)
obviously the main cast had to have 8 characters (the spider number), so i chose a variety of spiders that are Iconic plus a few personal faves. pls appreciate their eight eyes that reflect the placement of eyes on the actual species of spiders, their little pedipalps, their big spider butts, and that they all have 6 arms to match the eight legs of the spider overall

unfortunately this idea never made it past the base thumbnailing idea, so Here They Are Now I Still Love Them

Giant Whip Scorpion (Mastigoproctus giganteus)
Distribution: Found in the southwestern United States, including New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma and Texas, down through much of Mexico, as well as Florida.
Habitat: Found in arid habitats; deserts, scrub forests and grasslands, where they take shelter beneath plant debris, in rock crevices or in abandoned animal burrows. Can be found living at altitudes of up to 6000 metres.
Diet: Carnivorous; feeds on a variety of invertebrates, including cockroaches, crickets, millipedes, other arachnids, worms and slugs. Has also been documented feeding on small toads and frogs.
Description: Though their name would suggest otherwise, giant whip scorpions are more closely related to spiders than they are to true scorpions. This species is also referred to as the giant vinegaroon, as it has the capacity to spray a substance containing high concentrations of acetic acid, the same acid found in vinegar. They're able to spray up to 19 times in a row before their pygidial gland is depleted (though it fills up pretty fast; they're usually ready to go again the very next day!). This spray does not usually cause long-term harm, but can occasionally cause the skin to blister, as well as intense pain if it gets into the eyes. Luckily, they only spray when touched—as long as you remain at a respectful distance, you'll be okay! They may also deliver a painful bite or pinch with their powerful chelicerae, though they have no venom.
This species is usually considered to be beneficial, as it often hunts other undesirable arthropods, such as scorpions, as well as agricultural pests that may threaten crops. Giant whip scorpions are also fairly common in the exotic pet trade, as they're non-venomous and have a long lifespan; males can live to 10 years, and females, twice that long!

I would like to humbly request the red widow (Latrodectus bishopi). It’s only found in the scrublands of central and southern Florida and is currently a threatened species, most likely due to habitat loss.
Wow, they're gorgeous!

They are considered vulnerable globally, and imperiled in the state of Florida.
