y'all know the tetris effect? (if not, here's the wikipedia page) i've experienced it before, but never in the context of tetris itself, and i play a LOT of tetris. i have the app on my phone, and i play it all the time. it's what i do when i'm waiting at a dr's office, when i'm anxious, when i'm watching something and i need to do something with my hands, when i've experienced something traumatic (like a car accident [of which i've experienced two in the past 3 years]) and i'm trying to process, when i'm bored and i'm tired of social media, pretty much any time i need a simple distraction with my phone that isn't reading or social media. sure, i go stretches where i don't play it at all, but a lot of the time, i play tetris every single day. and i have NEVER experienced the tetris effect before

UNTIL i had surgery last week. now, all of a sudden, my brain is constantly showing me all the ways anything i'm looking at could be tetrised. what blocks i'd need to fill spaces, what positions i'd need them in. i, without trying to, imagine the blocks falling into place and clearing the similarly imagined lines. i see not just the blocks, but also the game board itself, each situation having its own unique custom layout, limited, each time, to my field of vision in the moment, and filled out by blocks that only i can see. i cannot escape it. everything is tetris now

Tee in the Tetris Effect

"To truly call yourself the "Tetris King", you must be able to absorb and bare the primordial energy itself into your being."

The disfigured voice echoed through the expanding space of soft glowing particles, as Tee floats in this space alone. After the battle with Ex in order to not only save his and Ringo's world, declare that he was the true "Tetris King", but to also take Ex's place as the Keeper of Dimensions. However the giant door opened and sucked him into it, separating him from everyone.

"I have no choice..."

The desperate captain looks at the glowing T-Block tetrimino filling up with the strange energy that surrounds the both of them.

"I have to do it... If I ever want to get back to Ringo, my crew, my friends... my world... I must take this offer."

He reached his hand towards the block. This was his only option left. He has to take this power and absorb into himself.

"If this is what I need to do...! Then I accept!"

The tetrimino began to slowly float towards him. As it did, a light purple aura subtlety began to appear around Tee.

"Huh? What the-?"

The piece floated in front of his chest as it took in more primordial energy from the surrounding space. The pulse of the piece begins to match with Tee's heartbeat as more energy enters it.

"What's going on... My heart feels like its burning a little. Wait. This feeling is expanding...! Like, my heart is growing!"

This is the beginning of a cool concept that was brewing in the back of my mind for a while. I wanted to combine these two for a while now, and since I was becoming more comfortable drawing, I thought why not finally make it a reality. If you don't know "Puyo Puyo Tetris" and "Tetris Effect" both came out in the same year of 2020, and I loved both of these games. Puyo Puyo Tetris for the wacky characters, and Tetris Effect for its overall beautiful and breathtaking stages and music. So the thought came to mind to combine the two games together, but not like actually. More like taking the elements of Tetris Effect and putting it into Puyo Puyo Tetris.

And now that I'm finally bringing my idea to light, I can expand on this idea even further. And trust me there are more of this coming.

I finally became victim of the Tetris effect for the first time in my entire life:

So I started shiny hunting in Pokémon X on the weekend (terrible idea because I don't even have the shiny charm but that's another story). Not counting sleep, toilet breaks and the weekly socials check, I essentially hunted for two days straight.

Then the following happened:

Sunday evening I decided to take a break with Animal Crossing

My character walks out of her house

There are flowers everywhere

I think "don't run, we don't wanna attract Pokémon" for a hot second

My brain realizes what it has done and pretends it never happened.

It then proceeds to attempt to use the bike from X.

We surrender

I'm getting heavily obsessed with Link Click, which means this is my default mode, all day long,
