Next week is the 40th anniversary of this blues rock classic, so what better way to celebrate than to show this cover off?

Yep, this is a full-on painting. No photography involved here. Kinda wish this was hanging in a museum.

Of note, this was made right after Vaughan's work on David Bowie's Let's Dance. Guess something good did come out from that mess after all.

U subotu, 9. jula, 17. Beogradski karneval brodova

Znatno ranije nego prethodnih godina, ovogodišnji Beogradski karneval brodova, 17. po redu, biće održan u subotu, 9. jula. Pod motom “Budi kao reka!”, posetioce kao i uvek očekuje bogat program na vodi i obali, najavili su iz Turističke organizacije Beograda na konferenciji za novinare održanoj danas na brodu “Kovin”. Manifestacija će se održati na Sava promenadi, odnosno delu reke Save od Tramvajskog mosta do mosta Gazela. Direktor Turističke organizacije Beograda Miodrag Popović ističe da će uspešnost ovogodišnjeg karnevala brodova umnogome zavisiti od vremenskih prilika, kao i broja plovila koja će učestvovati. “Gorivo je poskupelo i sigurno je da ima vlasnika plovila koji se dvoume oko učešća, ali nam je pre svega bitno da bude lepo vreme, jer će onda biti i više posetilaca i moći ćemo da realizujemo bogat program koji smo pripremili pre svega na obali gde će se održati koncerti za decu, muzički nastupi poznatih izvođača, edukativne i zabavne radionice, karnevalski Eko bazar i drugo”, kaže Popović dodajući da je ovo značajan događaj za promociju ponude Beograda. Od vremenskih prilika, kako je rekao, zavisi i učešće kajakaša na karnevalu, a njihovo pojavljivanje je bitno jer je Beograd uvek u konkurenciji za velika veslačka tamičenja koja nam dovode goste iz inostranstva. Planirano je da program 17. Beogradskog karnevala brodova počne od 18 časova svečanim defileom uz učešće Policijskog orkestra i mažoretkinja iz Bele Crkve. Biće tu i animatori “Komičnog teatra”, a zatim će nastupiti hor Čarolija. Za 18.30 najavljen je početak defilea okićenih plovila rekom Save. Posle njihovog defilea u opuštenoj atmosferi uslediće koncerti grupa Belgrade Groovz i Texas Flood. Rečeno je da će i ovaj put biti nagrađene tri najveselije ekipe iz svečane povorke plovila. Takođe Jelena Stanković, zadužena za odnose sa javnošću Turističke organizacije Beograda, posebno je najavila Karnevalski EKO bazar na kome će posetioci moći da kupe domaće organske proizvode, zdravu hranu, kao i umetnine, dizajnirani nakit, suvenire i različite unikatne proizvode domaće izrade. Deo postavke Eko bazara je Master Kraft, sa brojnim izlagačima.

Beogradski karneval brodova Turistička organizacija Beograda organizuje uz podršku Skupštine grada Beograda i u saradnji sa Belgrade Waterfront.

My dog died just before this Christmas. She was 15 years & 8 months old - an impressive age for a border collie. The breed average is 11 years. I had her from 12 weeks old and she was my very first dog. I’ve never known a love so uncomplicated and easy. She was, TO ME, literally perfect. In fact, that’s the first thing I said when I laid eyes on her.

Now it’s NYE, and we always distract our dogs with giant ostrich bones to enjoy while distant neighbours set off midnight fireworks. We never spent NYE out because our animals got scared of the noise. I can’t bear to think I don’t get to see her tonight, pleased as punch with a bone the size of her head.

I understood we’d lose her, I knew she was getting up there. We had discussed all our options for her care and treatment with our vets so there were no surprises. But damn it, it still hurts. It hurts SO much more than I was anticipating. Sorry for the downer post but if you get to kick the year off with your pet best friend, I am so happy for you! Give them all the love they can stand. Give them extra from me.

We had so much heavy rain here overnight, that the pool at my apartment was as full as it could possibly get.

My apartment is on the second floor, so if it got bad enough to start flooding the building, I should be ok. Luckily for the people downstairs, it didn't get that bad. At least not around me.

We do have even more rain expected tomorrow and over the weekend. Hopefully it won't be as heavy or last as long.
