we did talk about it before and i think we're right in he might burn it to the ground. however, might i interest you in a common trope. let's set the scene....we have a protagonist and a side character. they're having a conversation. our lovely protag is standing in front of the side character and says "not to worry! i've got everything under control."

meanwhile, behind our protag, everything is not under control. explosions are happening, a car just swerved to avoid the issues that are clearly not under control, a lamp post just slowly fell down, someone just screamed out "my leg!" and there are several fires that need to be put out.

that's the best sum up i have. do i still want him as tp? yes absolutely.

🗨️ Seokjin’s childhood/school was just, ugh, I really felt heartache for thirteen year old Seokjin 🥹 So very common as a kid, to wish you’re older – and then it’s just not what he expected at all. I really loved it! There were a few times I was laughing so damn hard, times where I was shedding a few tears as well. Just, incredibly good; very well written, the story was captivating and motivating, just yeah, brilliant. (Sorry, I’m suddenly bad with words). I loved the ‘lessons’ he learned, and then having the luxury (I’m using that word because we don’t have that irl) of going back to his childhood (almost like starting over) and damn it was good 👏💯

Yoongi

🗨️  Holy 😱 😱 😱 this is just completely unadulterated sin 🥵🫣 I can not describe how much I love this fic! It has A LOT of angst and at times it’s just sad reading how each character falls apart 😭 it’s amazing! If you’re into stories that will have you question your own morals and who to root for, this is for you 💖

📝 Yoongi fell in love with you. A girl he had never even met before. Knew everything that you were made up of within 96 pages of a worn red journal with a nirvana sticker on front, with coffee and tea-stained pages that also smelled of lilacs and summer. 

🗨️ I can already tell that this story will be amazing; it’s so sweet, cute and tender. The storyline/idea is really cute and fluffy, like who wouldn’t love that?? 😭 And as someone who wrote countless journals as a teen, this one just hits differently. It’s so cute and the concept is gold 💜 I really, really look forward to reading the next chapters and what Yoongi will uncover of OC through her journal. And if he can return it to her sometime and they meet! 🥹

📝 Making hating Christmas your entire personality was never the plan. 🗨️ I just love me some good enemies to lovers AU 🥵 the relationship between OC and tae is really good, I think the tension between them was well built 👏🏾 I loved how their relationship unfolded and grew through their fake dating 🥹 the way OC realized she had feelings for him, but he had showed her before in his subtle moves, how much more he relaxed in her presence. I loved the interaction between oc and tae’s parents too, the way that they could obviously tell that OC was head over heels 😂 ah just, It was really really good! It was funny, it was comforting, and such a lovely read around Christmas! A loud knock on the door startled Y/n, who was trying not to get caught reading the very... not child friendly stuff Nesta had given her. Cauldron knew what else Nesta had in store for Y/n.

The knock was a little too loud to be Azriel, because most of the time Y/n didn't even realise someone had knocked when Azriel knocked. So it was definitely most probably Cassian, who was probably excited about something.

She got up to open the door, wondering if she should hide the book she was reading in case Cassian decided to barge in. For Cassian, it wouldn't be anything new.

She felt like it was the biggest shock in her life when she found Azriel standing outside the door, his hand poised to knock again as he grinned widely at her, panting.

Because, first of all, Azriel was a quiet person. Hell, even his wings made no sound when flying. If he knocked so loud, it was probably something huge. She didn't know if it was a good thing or not.

And second and more concerning thing was that Azriel was grinning. This was a man who would glare at people just for smiling in his direction.

Now she wondered if she really should have hidden the book.

"Azriel? Is everything alright?"

Impossibly, he somehow managed to grin wider. Once he had gained some semblance of control over his breathing, he spoke.

"Everything's fine. Perfect even."

Now Y/n was seriously concerned.

"Why are you grinning?"

"I need to show you something."

He offered her his hand, which she eyed suspiciously before taking. "What is it?"

"It wouldn't be fun if I told you about it." He pointed out, leading her to a nearby balcony.

That made sense.

He picked her up and began flying, the setting sun making the atmosphere beautiful. That was all Y/n tried to think about because if she didn't, she would continue to hound Azriel for answers, and he was too stubborn for his own good. He wouldn't tell her what it was, no matter what.

Soon, he was landing in front of a beautiful house, a beautiful lawn surrounding it. The area was quiet. There were similar looking houses nearby, a few shops. They were near the center of Velaris, but the pace was still quiet, tranquil even. Just like Azriel.

Y/n thought she knew what was going on, but still she asked. "Why are we here?"

Azriel grinned, a light blush dusting his cheeks. "I wanted to show you this place. Do you like it?"

"It's beautiful." She stretched out the word, searching his face.

"I brought that home. I thought now that we are... getting to know each other again and are comfortable, we might as well live somewhere far from Cassian and Nesta. Figured you might be just as tired of them as I am. Of course, I'm not saying you should live with me if you don't want to, but one day... maybe?" He looked at her when he finished rambling, his eyes hopeful.

She smiled. "I would love to live with you Azriel. So, when are we going to move in?"

Azriel's face lit up like a child who had recieved a gift on solstice. "As soon as possible. If you're okay with it." He paused for a moment, thinking. "Do you want to take a look inside?"

"Sure."

Azriel led her inside the mostly empty but clean house, a little jump in his steps. Y/n smiled and shook her head as he walked in front of her, opening all the doors and cupboards, a small grin on his blushing face.

Azriel was cooking, having forced Y/n to sit and watch. Since there weren't many things in the house except for a couch, bed and a few cupboards, Azriel had flown back to the house of wind to get items for their dinner.

She had offered to cook, but he had refused. And since then, Y/n could tell he was trying really hard to impress her with his cooking skills.

They kept talking throughout, his focus equally divided.

Right now, he was seemingly about to flip the food in the pan, and he turned to her.

"Watch this." But then he realised she was already watching, and he faltered.

Unfortunately, he had already begun to move the pan. And because he wasn't paying attentiont to the pan, the food items in the pan scattered all around the kitchen, and Y/n hid her smile behind a hand.

Cauldron, Azriel was adorable.

He stared at the mess, his shoulders slumping. Y/n hopped down from the counter she was siting on and moved closer to him. "Go. Sit. I'll make us something."

Azriel shook his head. "No."

Y/n cocked her head. "Why not? I cooked all the time by myself before."

"I'll get something from a restaurant."

Her brows furrowed. "But why?"

"Because I want to treat you better than you have been treated before." He mumbled under his breath, barely audible. Maybe he was trying to not let her hear, but she did.

Her heart swelled, as if it tripped fell down the stairs and now had to rest in bed for its whole life.

"You are treating me good." She smiled at him when he looked at her with wide eyes. He blushed furiously when she placed a tender kiss on his cheek.

"What– what would you like to eat?"

Y/n sighed. "Anything. I don't really have something in mind."

Azriel nodded. "I'll be back soon."

And with that, he bounded off towards the door, leaving his shadows behind to clean up the mess he had made.

Y/n watched as her husband moved his hand animatedly, his face filled with excitement.

The two of them sat on the couch, knees touching. Y/n wondered if in a few moments she'd be on his lap.

It had started out with her on the couch and him on the armchair near the fire, having finished their dinner sitting on the kitchen counter top because there was no table or chairs. After that, they had moved to hear the fireplace.

They had sat in silence, contemplating what to talk about when she found Azriel grinning.

When she asked him about it, he told her about how his shadows loved to be nosy and knew almost everyone's secret. How they had been telling him about the secret of the little boy passing by the house. It was that he had stolen a cookie without his mother's knowledge, and how he prayed to the cauldron that she never found out.

Since then, he had begun telling her of all the juicy secrets he gathered over the years, his shadows occasionally chiming in to add to the information. He had slowly begun shifting towards her as he spoke.

It wasn't long before he settled on the opposite end of the couch, a huge smile on his face as he told her of one of his favourite secrets that he found out, his body seemingly moving of its own accord.

Throughout the night after that, he had shifted closer anytime he got a little more excited, her scooting closer when she got more and more intrested in the story he was telling.

He finally stopped speaking, taking a deep breath, his cheeks flushed and a wide grinon his face.

Y/n sighed. "Well... that was a journey."

"I have better stories than that." He smirked smugly when her eyes widened in disbelief.

"Liar. I don't believe you. Even Nesta's books have less dramatic plot lines."

He grinned, shaking his head. "Speaking of Nesta's books... did you enjoy the book that you were you reading today?"

Y/n immediately tensed. "What do you mean?"

He gave her a sly smirk. "I'm the spymaster of the night court, Y/n, and I've been married to you for almost six months now. Do you really think I don't know what conspires between you and Nesta when me and Cassian aren't looking?"

A blush climbed up Y/n's neck. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Sure. Let me help you with that–" And then, as if the damn book had been next to him this whole time, he pulled it out of between his shadows and flipped open to where she had been reading when he interrupted her that morning. She knew that because she found the candy wrapper she placed in between the pages to mark the her progress.

She gasped, but he was already beginning to read. "Where were you? I think it was here? He grinned up at her from between her thighs..." He paused for a moment, reading, before he clicked his tongue. "You are really interested in this?"

He was busy reading, and so he didn't see her reaching out to snatch the book until she had a firm grasp on the book. He looked at her in surprise, but she began tugging. Of course, he didn't let her pull it too far before he himself started tugging at it.

"Let go Azriel."

He gave a harsh tug, and Y/n was no match for his strength. She lurched forward, her hand landing on his shoulder. Her face was mere inches from his and he grinned up at her.

"Really? You like this–" He shook the book near her face. "–this thing so much? Honestly, you could choose better."

Her whole face flushed as she tried to keep herself from glancing at his lips. "Don't be mean. It's rude to judge people."

"Hard not to when you read childish things like these." She scowled at him, and he leaned closer to her as he whispered, "Honestly, I could show you better things. The male here is like a newborn child compared to me."

Y/n blinked in shock, his closeness doing nothing to help her slow brain. He huffed a laugh at her reaction, and the air on her face finally pulled her from her daze. She began to pull back, trying to retreat back into her original position, but he caught hold of the hand on his shoulder, his expression serious.

Azriel's eyes trailed down to her mouth, and his tongue flicked out to lick his lips. He glanced up at her eyes, his eyes swimming with question.

Y/n knew it would be pointless and stupid to pretend she didn't want what he was offering. She could not keep lying to herself when this was all she wanted since the two of them began spending more time together.

So she simply leaned back in, her eyes fluttering shut when his breath caressed her features again.

Azriel didn't need anymore confirmation.

He was tired of waiting, and now that she was so close, it was too hard not to sink his teeth into her. Into those beautiful lips, that beautiful body.

So he surged up, and caught his lips with hers.

In that moment, it felt like he had found peace. Something he had been searching his whole life for. Like he had found the home he never had.

Not the house he was currently in, but home in her.

And when she gasped, he realised there were multiple reasons responsible for that feeling.

First obviously being that he loved her.

Second, she loved him.

And how did he know?

He felt it coming at him in waves.

Through the newly found golden string connecting their souls.

I love you. The emotions he felt from her seemed to tell him.

I love you more. The emotions he sent back to her.

And there, on that couch in their new house, tangled in each other's arms...

Azriel and Y/n were finally home.

Okay so, I was watching Despicable Me 3 and the minions performed a song (Minions Idol - Papa Mama Loca Pipa) and it sounded... familiar? And yes, it was, because it had the exact same tune as the song in Rottmnt season 1 episode 17 : The Evil League of Mutants. And I thought, "Huh, this is too big to be a coincidence"

So I started looking it up. Despicable me 3 was released in June 2017, while Rottmnt ep.17 was shown in November 2018, but this is obviously a dead end.

After a little searching I found that the original song was actually named "I am the very Model of Modern Major General" by W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan in The Pirates of Penzance (1879) which is a comic opera.

I find it quite clever and hilarious that they would use a song from a comic opera to introduce Draxum, proving once again that he's a big drama queen.

-Honestly, first of all, Percy is always asking Lance questions. Like, yes, Percy is very curious and inquisitive by nature and he questions lots of people, but whenever he has some random question that doesn't need to be answered by any specific person, he always asks Lance (as long as he can find him)

-Relating to that, Percy is the kind of person who will ask the most out of pocket questions and Lance will think he's crazy at first before genuinely starting to consider it, despite not actually wanting to. Like, they'd be walking through a field and Percy'd just be like, "How many blades of grass do you think we'd need to recreate my entire body weight?" And Lance would just give him a look and ignore the question, but then five minutes later, outta nowhere he's just like, "It has to be at least a thousand, right?" And Percy is very confused until he suddenly remembers his previous question

-ALSO relating to that, Percy is entirely convinced that Lance knows everything. As far as Percy is concerned, Lance quite literally knows all. He has all the answers to every single possible factual question that anyone could ask him. No matter how many times anyone tries to tell him differently, he insists that they're wrong

-These two are unintentionally chaotic together. Like, okay, both are pretty chaotic just in general, and most often Lance is on purpose, but when the two of them are together, they don't even really realize how absolutely unhinged they're being until someone points it out to them (i.e. when they tried to find the answer to the grass question)

-Percy is one of the very few people who knows how much Lance enjoys flora and general plant life (based on my own Lance hcs) and Lance never tells him to keep it a secret necessarily, but some intuitive part of him makes him do so and Lance was surprised but grateful when Percy explained such a thing one day

-Percy isn't exactly the best at reading the room or other people, but Lance's moods are a bit easier for him. Mostly because whenever he's pestering the poor guy for one reason or another, Lance always has some kind of sarcastic comment or a "jus' shut up already, would ya?" Or a sigh or huff or snort. There's always some kind of noise or reaction, and Percy's gotten used to that. So if Lance ever just stays quiet with zero reaction to Percy's antics, he immediately knows that something's off

-Whenever Lance is restless and under-stimulated (more Lance hcs), he specifically seeks Percy out because Percy's rambles and hyperactivity help him balance put

-On the other side of that, whenever Percy notices that Lance is overstimulated, he does his best to make sure everyone else leaves him alone (except for Tristan)

-Both are always very quick to defend each other. Percy thinks Lance is one of the most awesome people ever and doesn't ever hesitate to say so. Lance may call Percy an idiot and all kinds of other names but the moment anyone tries to genuinely underestimate Percy, he'll make sure they know how wrong they are one way or another

-Major younger sibling/older sibling energy between them

-No matter how cheery and full of energy Percy is, he's, ofc, not completely immune to upset. No matter what the reason, if he ever notices Percy's mood is down for any reason, he'll take him somewhere quiet and they'll just sit for awhile. Lance typically isn't very good at comforting most people, so this is usually the best he can do - sit calmly with someone and make sure they know he's there. For Percy, those times are always helpful, Lance being a peaceful presence beside him and making him feel safe (due to that older/younger dynamic between them)

-(if you don't ship Trislance, just ignore this one) Percy doesn't pay much attention to people's romantic interests or who likes who in that way, it's not something he typically thinks about, but one day Donny makes some kind of joke or comment about how Lance and the prince are totally crushing on each other and, after it was explained to him what that means, he suddenly made it his mission to be Lance's wingman and try and help him in his romantic advances towards Tristan, which Lance both loves and hates

-(if you don't ship Persians, just ignore this one) Lance, of course, being the extremely observant person he is, notices almost right away what's going on between Percy and Nasiens, and totally starts nudging them closer together. Percy doesn't understand much about love and romance and all that, but if Lance tells him, "Hey, Nasiens would love if someone gave him this flower and it would make him super happy" then Percy is immediately on it (he volunteers as tribute) or sometimes Lance will just offhandedly mention something or make some comment about something Nasiens does or likes or wishes or wants or he'll very purposely ask Nasiens a specific question while making sure Percy can hear and then he'll just sit back and watch as Percy uses the information to do things that'll make Nasiens happy without even really realizing why he's doing it

-Food. These two 100% bond over food

-They're both always trying to compete against each other but they will team up together without hesitation in order to beat anyone else at whatever it is they're competing about

After a long time I finally read through Nexus, on oh my gosh. That was the best piece of plot i have ever read in so long. The way Blade and readers relationship declines as soon as she found out?? The fact you were perfectly able to get us attached to oc’s in a story??? The fact you made me want Lear in a Blade fic??? The way you were actually able to write Blade in a way that made us wish it didn’t happen?? THE ANGST???? This was written so amazingly like i could ACTUALLY immerse myself into the story?? Also even as just a plot on its own its amazing??? I cant get over how beautiful it was, anything with you write is bound to be amazing and Nexus just proves it to a whole new level. You’ve inspired me to start making my own Blade x Reader series just because of what you’ve made. I cannot stress enough how amazing of a writer you really are lock 😔😔❤️

when i was in the beginning stages of plotting out nexus, i had a fascination with tragedies, which went on to influence the work. the two that grabbed my interest the most were oedipus rex and macbeth. personally, i think there's almost nothing more tragic than a character accidentally bringing ruin upon themself. should n darling have been self-serving, things would've ended objectively better (for her, the people of eris, not so much). it ended up being an exploration of the shortcomings of my own convictions. i'd like to think that living a life centered around helping others is the best way to live, but sometimes choosing to be selfish is necessary.

'The way you were actually able to write Blade in a way that made us wish it didn’t happen??'

YEEEEEEES this was something else i was hoping to accomplish. the way i characterize yan blade is different from other yans. i talked about that some here but i always have something to say so i'll keep yapping. while it can be argued that blade is the antagonist of nexus, i didn't want it to be that cut-and-dry. n darling's journey to total isolation from everyone she knows and loves parallels what yingxing underwent. in trying to save baiheng, he condemned himself and countless others.

hence his line at the end of ch5:

“When you live for others, you’ll die for them too.”

he's speaking from experience. there's an undercurrent of empathy (which vanishes the second n darling mentions lear LMFAO). i didn't want the ending to feel like a victory for blade, because it isn't. okay maybe it is a little bit because he's got his woman. however! he's intimately aware with the unique resentment n darling holds toward him, it's similar to his feelings toward imbibitor lunae.

Aww that’s so sweet I legit am constantly convinced my rambling is annoying but glad to hear someone likes it 🫡 (literally giggling and kicking my feet rn)

Also this I think is the first like proper ask I’ve got 🎉🥳

I have A LOT of thoughts about Eddie and Maddie so you may eat your words a little but it’s fine🤩

Maddie and Eddie for me really deserve more scenes together not just because of their link through buck but through the fact that the writers make very distinctive parallels between Maddie and Eddie and Buck and Chimney.

Lemme explain, Maddie is the carer older sibling who had to step in and be parentified in a way, Eddie’s dad wasn’t around so he was forced to do the same, both of them bottle up their emotions for the sake of the people they love until it comes out in extreme ways and they both struggled with the similar mental health issues, they are both runners in one way or another- Maddie is canonically “the one who leaves” and Eddie left to go to the army at different points of Christopher’s childhood and also when he left to go to dispatch you can also argue that was part of that. Also they both feel a lot of guilt surrounding the fact that they weren’t there for their kids’ babyhood (is that a word? I’m making it one) eventhough in my opinion neither were to blame for their circumstances, both had first marriages that ended badly (understatement for Maddie obviously) and that they have mixed feelings about. Also both of them forgave their parents despite how they wronged them.

The buck and chimney parallels are also unreal but I’ll try to limit myself a little cos that wasn’t the ask, but like they were both the sibling that was unloved and deprived of their parents love they both sought honorary parents in a way (lees for chimney, bobby and Athena for buck obviously), both have the whole 152783 million deaths but always somehow lucky thing going for them, both are very big emotions people, they both struggled to feel seen by past partners, they both had no clue what they were doing and had many different jobs prior to firefighting even both were shown as bartenders as their last jobs before firefighting. Okay I’m cutting myself off - about chimney and buck at least.

But yeah the Maddie and Eddie parallels should make them have at least some scenes together and I feel like they can hit a lot of emotional beats together for scenes well.

Like their personalities and experiences are similar enough that they could be such an iconic duo but too similar to have pulled off a Maddie/Eddie thing like the writers initially planned (let’s all once again thank god for Jennifer love Hewitt🙏🥰) like can you imagine Maddie fresh off the trauma from Doug having to step in and be part of Eddie’s family? Or Eddie’s fighting era or Eddie’s mental breakdown if it was Maddie instead of buck? Like Maddie and Eddie both need a balance of the type of people they are, a yin to their yang (or actually maybe more Yang to their yin 😭😭) and those people are chimney and buck!!!

I also definitely think Maddie knew about buddie since day one like girlie dropped the boy crush comment then the he’s cute followed by buck talking about Eddie not chimney felt like her testing her theory like she legit walked away before he finished talking with this little ‘that’s what I thought skittles squad😌’ look on her face.

I’m not caffeinated enough to think anymore but yes 10000% on board with the Maddie and Eddie siblings in law thing for those reasons and also cos Eddie befriends every woman within 5 minutes of meeting her (unless it’s one of bucks romantic interests😭😭) and yet we haven’t really seen him and Maddie interact, like we’ve had how many buck hospital visits and not one Maddie and Eddie in the waiting room scene?? Rude as hell if you ask me

Thank you for this lovely question. 😌🤲. I'm currently rotting my brain with Choc anyways so I've been wanting to do this. Also, thank you personally for allowing me to ramble and sorry this took me a while. I'm like mentally all over the place. 

Now they're growing on me now, as an odd couple dynamic I'm starting to love. This is kinda an Au I'm playing with since the ship is slowly growing on me. Hope this is what you asked for and it's enjoyable to read. 

The three are in a polycule. Kinda hard to explain here what they got together. Kinda somewhere in the queer spectrum 

Carol and Reginald were already in an existing, established relationship for some time prior. Where Choc was introduced way later on into it by Carol, smitten with him, “He makes me laugh” A line she uses to explain it. 

Reginald was hesitant to bring the man into their relationship, the two of them have a close bond and so he had felt out of place when the idea came across. 

^ I like to think that Choc & Reginald have an antagonistic, rivalry sort of  relationship. They get on each other like oil and water. Nearly always at each other's throats.

^ Understandably wary, it took quite some time for Reginald to really get at ease around Choc and was aloof with the man. (Choc appears to be more than he seems) 

^ Similar to an old married couple arguing but add onto some vicious snarkiness into the mix like you wouldn't believe. Unfortunately Carol has to act as the middleman between the two with the last brain cell.

Whereas Choc gets along surprisingly well with Carol who does enjoy that he can make her smile and the day a lot brighter so easily. 

Choc enjoys gifting the pair incredibly corny shirts with cheesy images or sayings that he gets from somewhere, he doesn't say. Carol loves them but Reginald cringes from it. Says it's not in his style, Choc thinks it's him being a finicky, prissy hardass

Whenever Reginald is busy at work or flying the airship, Choc is throwing out a pun/joke to pass the time. Nonstop chattering on his end, some jokes at the chief's aggravated expense

Out of the three, Choc is the type to initiate more intimacy and affection, while also taking stuff that belongs to them since it reminds him of the other two. 

Now onto a short one shot of the three together. It's simple and not the best but hey, I liked it. This is my first time actually writing Choc so you'll get to see him in more depth;

Reginald so desperately wanted to bash his face into the wheel of the airship but he resists the temptation. 

He never seems to shut up, he keeps going and going on, his voice projects loudly in the spacious area. His highly infectious laughter rings in the chief's ears. 

“Hey, chief. May I say something? I'm really worried about the airship’s well-being” Choc said, a toothy smile on his face, gold fangs out on display. The chief in question, eyes squarely up ahead, his only response, a tired grunt as the man shrugged, continued. “With the bright light from the sun reflecting off your forehead, aren't you worried as I am that it'll blind someone?” 

Suddenly, Reginald hears the chuckles by the other members in the room range from muffled and polite to outright and proud. He is shaking, tightening his hold on the wheel. Whatever Carol sees in the candy maker is beyond him. 

“What? I'm genuinely concerned here. Can't I be that now? Getting worse by each passing day. Can see my own reflection” As the joke is made worse, Choc leaned in, in playful mockery, checking himself out. 

“Kinsley. I am trying to fly. So please. Not at this precise moment do I want to do this with you” 

Choc hovers above him then stands, a smirk stretches the lengthy scars on his sun kissed face, “It's alright, Reg. It's a joke. C'mon now laugh with us” He laughs, roughly patting the chief's tense shoulder, “It's quite alright that you're so follically impaired” 

Another rumble in the room gave Reginald a stronger desire to hit something. However, in his fortune, his eyes flicker over to the corner of the room and sees Carol standing next to the door. She is smiling stiffly it seems, not laughing which Reginald is so relieved for inside and soon she's by them, tugging at Choc's sleeve to get his attention. 

“Choc. C'mon. Let him be,” She calmly states to the man, who in the good forethought nods and goes with her. “I need you for something anyways so come” Her hand is outstretched for him to take and he does, not before he takes a curious glance behind, catches the Chief's eyes. The expression on the candy maker's face is unreadable and Reginald couldn't stand it.

“Thank you” Reginald whispers, barely loud that only he knew Carol can hear him. She hums. 

How he's going to get along with that joke of a man, he doesn't know.

Hi! I'm so excited that there's a Blue Castle book club happening, it's one of my favorite L. M. Montgomery books and also one of my favorite books of all time and seeing all the posts have made me so happy! I'm planning to reread Blue Castle via audiobook so I can catch up soon! :D

Oh my gosh...someone asking me my opinion of Jane of Lantern Hill? Giving me an opportunity to talk about my FAVORITE LM Montgomery book??? A GIFT

First of all, about the blue castle book club: WELCOME!! I'm excited to read your thoughts as we approach these next chapters!! It is also one of my favorite LM Montgomery books and favorite books of all time, so I'd like to commend you on your taste. 😌 Rilla and Walter absolutely deserve the top two spots in the Blythe kid ranking as well!

I've written a post about Jane before, but I'll happily repeat some of my thoughts here.

I think Jane of Lantern Hill was one of the last LM Montgomery books I read. After reading so many, you develop expectations about who the main character of an LM Montgomery novel is. Without fail - Anne, Emily, the Story Girl, Rilla, Pat, Valancy Stirling- all of them are dreamy, sensitive, and poetic. This definitely ranges - Valancy is more acerbic than Anne, who is gentler than Emily, who is less ditzy than Rilla - but I think it's safe to say these are the hallmarks of an LM Montgomery main character (excluding short stories - never forget alexander abraham).

Jane is a wee bit of an outlier in this respect. While Valancy pores over John Foster, and Emily and Anne write poetry, and the Story Girl keeps audiences spellbound--Jane is noted to be brilliant in math. She definitely possesses many of the hallmarks listed above, from hating ugly houses to having a flair for reciting, but Jane has a hard practicality that isn't quite as present in the others. Unlike Anne, for example, Jane is very down to earth. That's why she's probably (okay this changes like every day but still) my favorite LM Montgomery heroine; I find her competence and sense appealing.

Now that I think about it, the book shares a lot in common with the Blue Castle. Much like Valancy, Jane is miserable at the beginning of her book, and much like Valancy, the book focuses on her finding a safe space and making it her own in a way. However, if The Blue Castle is romantic, Jane of Lantern Hill is cozy. It is extremely re-readable to me because it is the epitome of cozy. Jane also has to learn to stand on her own two feet and gain her own autonomy, but on its on a homier scale than Valancy's is.

Andrew Stuart is also one of my favorite male characters LM Montgomery has ever written. He holds strong in the top three with Walter and Barney every time. He's technically (on the most technical of technicalities) a romantic interest, but the lens of the book is Jane, and so the lens on Andrew is as a father - and this, this is where the book really shines.

Also, as I've written before, Jane of Lantern Hill is about father-daughter relationships in the most heartwarming way. Jane of Lantern Hill is a love story, but it's the love between a father and his daughter. Andrew Stuart, for all his flaws, is an exceedingly likeable character. Jane--and through Jane, the reader--feels safe with him, and it comes through on almost every page. I think this is what makes the book so cozy. It's the story of a little girl who lives a very cold and lonely life, only to find someone who loves her very much and in that someone, a home.

First of all, you calling Joel a fucker is so damn funny to me, I dunno why 😂😂😂

Second of all, YES! The ending doesn't mean it's all resolved. Not at all. It just means that she's finally ready to be honest with herself, with Joel, and also with Tommy (since he knows now anyway). I guess we'll have to see if Joel makes the right call in the next part and is able to reassure reader somehow that he really is serious about her 😌. What I have planned for sure is to write out the confrontation between Joel and Tommy. I dunno yet if I'll post it separately or within the next part, but it's coming.

I think Tommy sees a lot of himself in reader and that's why he understands her so well. And she is comfortable with him 'cause she really feels like he does understand her without judging her. Plus, he's proven over time that he won't abandon her, and that's also huge for her.

At this point, their relationship is platonic and they both appreciate it for what it is. I'm not gonna tell you if that was always the case or if they had more going on after their first night (or even what happened there exactly). Maybe I will some day, but for now, you're free to imagine whatever you like 😋.

I could imagine that Joel's got his own thoughts/questions about their relationship though hehe. But, as @pattwtf and I discussed, I'm positive that Joel honestly wouldn't care either way.

I always feel like seeing my friends' works reignites my love for this ship. And of course, seeing everyones' passion for it! It makes me remember what I love so much about the ship.

When I drew this last year, I wanted to make their expressions soft and tender. Suwon was very fun to draw :) I loved drawing Suwon and his hair, heehee. Thank you king!!! 👑 And Hak's colours were fun. I love warm lighting, and colouring gold, so this was a treat 😌✨

This was inspired by foggydevil's SuHak fic, pale blue solace

I had the mood and atmosphere of the fic in mind while I drew! Her SuHak fic is beautifully written. I love reading her writing, it's so atmospheric and poetic... I love the prose. Her writing style reminds me of poems... It was pale blue solace that inspired me to choose the colours and atmosphere in this.

I was thinking about Suwon's association to gold and the warmth of the sun, so I chose more cool colours for Hak and the shadows of his clothes 🙏

I'm happy that my friends said they could feel the atmosphere of pale blue solace in this drawing due to the contrast between golden colours and pale colours. Sun/Moon symbolism...

The gold tones are a reference to Suwon who is the sun. I love the colours of the 2nd one. I chose those colours for warm and cool colours contrast, and I also chose the cooler toned one to match the atmosphere of pale blue solace!

No matter how bad AkaYona got and decayed in terms of writing quality, I'm still so glad I met many of my friends because of it <3 I’m glad for everyone’s team effort in creating SuHak content~ It makes up for how badly written Ch. 243 was. 

Our friend circle is why I got into Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, one of the most important and personal series to me ever. Thank you!

Your Harbinger Christmas fic made me melt like an ice cream, especially when i read Capitano's section 😭💓🛐 the way u write him in the fic had me in tears, i love him so much 😭💞💞

I just love the thought of Capitano being this "A dangerous and powerful man who leads an entire army to a war, a man who is feared but also respected by many people and all of his foes calling him a monster in battlefield". But when he is alone with reader, he suddenly became a man that wants to be loved 😭 its funny but also really cute and sweet 🥺💓.

I can't stop thinking about "before" both Capitano and reader being together, i believe that someone like him never celebrate holiday.. He probably spend it for training himself, strategizing war tactics, etc. So of course he had no idea of how being festive. But now that they are together, seeing him finally can relax and reader teaching him few things about holidays is just makes my heart flutter (he deserves everything good 🙏😭)

About that part where reader gave him that "ugly" Christmas sweater as a joke.. It may look ugly to them, but for him its beautiful bcs its literally A GIFT from HIS S/O and i think he will cherish it forever ❤ (idk why, but i think reader will starts to feel bad and decided to give him a good one 😅).

And also, shopping with him is probably a bit funny to think of bcs its the only time both Capitano and reader argue with each other. Capitano keep insisting of carrying all of the items they bought while reader trying to tell him to give some of it to them. Also imagine him raising his hands up with all of the items effortlessly while reader trying to reach to grab one of the items from him is just funny and cute (other people are watching them too btw).

I'm so glad you liked my Christmas ramblings 🥝 anon!💓💓 (When I was writing Capitano's part I was thinking of u ngl, I was like what will🥝 anon think?) AND YEWWWW I love thinking about Capitano the same way🛐 Very tough and deadly but when he's in the comfort of his lover's arms he just wants to let his guard down and succumb to them :3 And yea, he never cared for the holidays, though he always lets his soldiers go spend time with their families if they want (he's a good captain, otherwise he wouldn't be respected!) So soldiers who stay in the headquarters are used to seeing him working, but when one Christmas comes around they don't see him and they're like ??? huh?? Until later they find out he got himself a cute lil partner to finally spend time with😭💞😭💞😭💞

AND YESSS CAPITANO CHERISHES EVERY SINGLE THING READER GIVES HIM. Literally could give this man a rock with a smiley face and he'd take It so seriously. (And yes reader def gives him a nicer sweater bc they cant take him seriously in the older one😭💞) And shopping with him is so funny - he NEVER lets you carry anything, which is very gentlemanly, but you're also like!! Hey let me do something!! But he never lets you, he wants to treat you like royalty and also is slightly scared of its being too heavy🛐 I can just imagine him holding everything up high while having your grocery list in the other hand as he's trying to figure out with aisle has the item, and you're trying to tackle his arm to let the stuff down😭

I've got a question actually about how you notice such things - once I get my pc back I plan on doing a frame by frame analysis (Something I genuinely want to do because the art in this show is so good!!) I'd just like to know... do you do anything special while you watch to notice the things you do (Other than just paying attention), or does it just kinda hit you while you're watching? I don't feel like I'm super good at analyzing media but it's something I wanna get better at, and you're really good at it! Thank you if you read this all (And thank you for posting in general I love your analyses genuinely!!)

Yes, the art in this show is PHENOMENAL. I once listened to a podcast in which the artists of the show discussed the process of drawing for ROTTMNT. They basically just made it a competition of one-upping each other and themselves with everything they handed in. I’m SO glad that they did, otherwise, we would have never beheld such mastery in animation. 😍 As far as how I notice things, I’ve always been the type of person to ask why people do the things that they do. I believe that people will tell you who they are if you listen and that’s not always just through listening to their words, but through listening to their actions. Somewhere between both observations is the truth about that person. I guess that concept bridged over into watching my favorite show. 😌 Also, I think what made me really start noticing things in the show is the art! The frame-by-frame watch idea is a great one because that’s exactly how I watched the show for the first time. The half-length episodes would take me a good 45 minutes to an hour to finish because I would just keep pausing, laughing, rewinding, and just rewatching parts. I also would pause frame by frame by frame to see how the show was animated. (This show has the BEST in-betweens by FAR compared to any other animated show, very few smear frames with most frames being very high quality!) The frame-by-frame pausing is how I caught things like Donnie’s neck being incredibly long. So that’s also a good place to start. Another thing that really helps is discussion! Talking about the show with others that also loves the show helps to bring many things to light. Lastly, it helps when you just love the material that you’re studying. ❤️🧡💙💜

Hi!! It’s Ramble Anon!!

I must begin with saying that this chapter was amazing, I was holding my breath until the very end!! I woke up earlier than usual for some reason (maybe subconsciously I knew you posted the chapter AHAHA) and I’m so glad I did!! I got all the time to read it slowly and savoring every word 😌

I KNEW you would hit us with the most grueling, beautiful, teary flashback ever, but MAN, even if I knew what was written I couldn’t have been possibly prepared 😭

It was so refreshing seeing Jake being an amazing dad, so cute that all of the kids (and Neytiri) teased him, BUT Y/N, she loves those beads, could be the ugliests in the whole world, she’d think they were the prettiest thing her eyes laid on 🥺 (him finding out she wear them in her hair after she dies ☹️)

I loved the bantering between Jake and Neytiri!! The whole movie was them stressing out for their children, it’s so nice seeing them as a couple, gently teasing each other 🥰

May I say that little Y/N is the most adorable child? So cute!! Her being able to sneak on Jake and her siblings observing if she succeeds or fails!! Why am I so entertained by the fact that during all the flashback Y/N was the mastermind of the attacks to Jake, lmao, always keeping him on his toes

And the innocent cussing!! 😭 and the siblings copying Y/N 🥺 (I’m curious, who do you think between the kids curses the most? I think most people would answer Lo’ak, but I’d put Kiri there too, she just looks like the type to curse her brother out if he aggravates her enough lmao (she is grace’s daughter, too after all), but Y/N, she sounds like the person who curses when she is excited!!)

Jake using mighty hunter as a entertaining nickname for Y/N, then he used it to mock and ridicule her.. why must u hurt me like this. 😞

And then the painting with the mud and the promise of painting her face for Iknimaya 😭 (“it’s what family does” pls-)

Y/N dying was so heartbreaking, everyone was panicking, Neteyam and Lo’ak coming to see what happened must have been terrifying, Jake and Neytiri desperately hugging their daughter..

Y/N died in front of Neteyam, they were the each other’s closest sibling and Y/N died IN FRONT OF HIM -pls I can’t-

Lo’ak just staring and being unable to understand, him bringing his grandma and Kiri, and Tuk!! Poor baby.. Everyone consoling each other was so nice in all of this heartbreak

Lo’ak going back where Y/N died, he just wanted to fly with his sister 😞

And her Ikran trying to gently nudge her awake 😭. He needs a name!! (I’m still so mad they didn’t give us names of the sibling’s ikrans ☹️)
