one big thing about polyshipping for me is, like. you know how some people will have their eyes opened to homoerotic relationships in media bc they'll realize, "wait, if these people were two different genders, i'd 100% assume they're into each other. i have a double standard that i never noticed"?

there's a polyamorous equivalent in certain media that's basically just. "if you didn't assume this character is monogamous, you would 100% believe they have crushes on & are dating all of their friends." OR, "if this character wasn't dating somebody else already, you would 100% interpret this new friendship of theirs as a crush/budding romance."

usually the creators of the media aren't thinking about polyamory when they make it! usually the creators of the media are thinking "i want this character's friends to be as important to them as their romantic partners, we don't get enough of that in media," which is great and true and also EXACTLY WHY IT WORKS AS A POLY NARRATIVE. people will be like you don't Have to polyship why can't you just let platonic relationships be important ugh 🙄 & i'm like i did my years in the "why can't two men just be friends why does everything have to be gay 🙄" trenches. you're not doing this to me. we're not doing it about polyshipping. we're skipping over that whole discourse cutscene because i am Too Tired For It. don't even start

Life oversharing with yall :)

CW: pregnancy loss, abortion, grief

I’m married to the love of my life and we want to have a baby together. At 30, I went off birth control and I got pregnant four months later and was thrilled. I found out about a severe fetal anomaly at 12 weeks after regular testing and decided to get a termination. I had to go to another part of the country due to laws in my state. I got pregnant again five months later and was thrilled again. I carried her for five months and found out at the 20 week anatomy scan about a severe and fatal heart defect. I confirmed this diagnosis at a fetal cardiology specialist and decided for her sake to terminate. Had to go to another part of the country again. The issues from the first and second pregnancy are unrelated. We got extensive genetic testing both times and the results said there is no indication either of our genetics caused these anomalies. We are both healthy people and our genetic counselor called it, and I quote, “shitty luck.” That’s where I’m at. I have grieved two children in a year and a half and honestly the second one was hardest because I carried her for 20 weeks not knowing anything was wrong. I was so, so in love with the idea of my daughter. I was able to obtain her ashes which was a surprising comfort to me. I want more than anything to have a baby. I was always a strong supporter of abortion but obviously my situation has made me even more enlightened. I would have liked to have had MY doctors perform the terminations and have grieved them in my own bed instead of a hotel bed. But it is what it is. I am fortunate enough to have the money and resources (and a supportive partner) to avoid even more pain and grief, especially the pain of my children. Not everyone is so lucky. I am going to try again, and it will likely be my last attempt. I hope to hell I get a child out of it. If not, I will reevaluate my future. I am trying to be fearless.

🌊 lab merman au part 2! 🧜‍♂️

The merman is weird. He seems oddly interested in Hank’s boring, day-to-day job of mopping floors and wiping tank glass. Hank gets into his own head more often than not when he’s alone, so the weird merman is…almost a welcome distraction. He swims away whenever Hank gets too close to his tank though, wary and skittish.

Sometimes the scientists come and take Connor away for a few days. He makes himself scarce when he’s returned to his tank, but every time Hank manages to catch a glimpse of him, he seems to be scratching incessantly at his skin, like he’s trying to scrub something off.

Chapter 10 of The Plum Calendar is up!

In this chapter, Reigen and Serizawa finally have a talk. In the end, they’re wet, cold, covered in mud, one of them’s bleeding and they’re both halfway deaf. But to find out how that happened, you’re just gonna have to read the very final chapter of The Plum Calendar.

” Like I said, aside from the constant overhanging threat of being eaten, it was one of my better vacations to date.” The fact being, it was one of exactly two vacations Reigen had taken in his entire adult life, and the other one had been pretty severely dampened by a very predictable bout of salmonella. ”Besides, you, uh, definitely did your part,” he said, looking the other way. ”You’re a pretty smooth talker, when you wanna be. And you’re not a bad kisser, either.” Reigen didn’t have time to reflect on what a stupid, idiotic thing that had been to say, because he, along with all the woodsy debris on the ground, was being launched a good few meters up into the air by some unseen psychic force.

The Plum Calendar has been a fic about pretending to be engaged to the secret love of your life so a 200-year old ghost won’t marry him and keep him in the ghost dimension forever. But it has also been about not being good enough, about the concept of deserving, about what it means to be a liar, and whether or not that sort of thing is innate.

For those of you who have been reading along, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. I can write 30 000 words of someone else’s sappy feelings, but I can never express how much I’ve loved having you read my story. And for the rest of you,  maybe check it out? I don’t know, you might like it.
