ok i am still figuring out exactly what race i want them to be. but i am leaning heavily into high elf so i'm going to answer this for high elf and if this changes you can point at me later and say i spoke a lie and i must make amends . like a criminal (though ideally i would like to make them a fey eldarin or a sun elf but we are limited in this here video game)

i would like to think they are connected more to the past and history of their culture than their current societies culture, as they believe their wild magic to be a gift from the fey and speaks of their innate connection to the fey, that their blood is closer in commonality to the fey than to the common eladrin. making them somewhat of an outcast due to seeing themselves inherently different (and superior) to others.

so i think it's ultimately a no, they have a strong connection for what their people no longer are, and are rather nostalgic for a time they never witnessed.

35. Do they believe in fate or do they believe they are in charge of their own destiny?

they believe their fate is what they have decided for their own destiny, completely deluded in that way! they picked out a perfect little destiny for themselves and said, "this is fate". no, that's not how it works! of course if you tried to tell them they're wrong you'll get absolutely no where. this puppy doesn't budge for anything, especially if you're trying to deny them what they deserve and are owed, by fate itself, it would seem.

45. Do they plan in advance or just wing it?

everything is planned in advance, including their entire life. so it's quite annoying that something unexpected happens like getting a tadpole because it interrupts everything, now the entire timeline of their entire life is off. this is the kind of person who plans the exact year they're getting married before they even have a partner. to be made to 'wing' a decision is quite stressful for them and will cause great annoyance, and probably some complaining.

Gentle reminder that very little fandom labor is automated, because I think people forget that a lot.

That blog with a tagging system you love? A person curates those tags by hand.

That rec blog with a great organization scheme and pretty graphics? Someone designed and implemented that organization scheme and made those graphics.

That network that posts a cool variety of stuff? People track down all that variety and queue it by hand, and other people made all the individual pieces.

That post with umpteen links to helpful resources, and information about them? Someone gathered those links, researched the sources, wrote up the information about them.

That graphic about fandom statistics? Someone compiled those statistics, analyzed them, organized them, figured out a useful way to convey the information to others, and made the post.

That event that you think looks neat? Someone wrote the rules, created the blogs and Discords, designed the graphics, did their best to promo the event so it'd succeed.

None of this was done automatically. None of it just appears whole out of the internet ether.

I think everyone realizes that fic writing and fanart creation are work, and at least some folks have got it through their heads that gif creation and graphics and moodboards take effort, and meta is usually respected for the effort that goes into it, at least as far as I've seen, but I feel like a lot of people don't really get how much labor goes into curation, too.

If people are creating resources, curating content, organizing the creations of others, gathering information, and doing other fandom activities that aren't necessarily the direct action of creation, they're doing a lot of fandom labor, and it's often largely unrecognized.

Celebrate fan work!

To folks doing this kind of labor: I see you, and I thank you. You are the backbones of our fandoms and I love you.

I have changed a lot from the kid I was when I was 13. Any type of love apart from cis/hetero relationships used to not compute for me, and now I'm out to 5 people in my day-to-day life. And honestly, I do kind of owe it a little bit(a whole lot) to Undertale for opening up a different life path. I could have ended up really freaking stupid and probably super depressed without it.

god I'm so fucking furious at the removal of Te Reo Māori names from organisations around Aotearoa. it's a complete non-issue, every organisation has the English name directly underneath the Māori name. I have never once as an English speaker been unable to understand what an organisation is for. Winston Peters, the Deputy Prime Minister, who is literally Māori himself, said “Te Papa is a historic name but tell me this waka kotahi, how many boats have you seen going down the road?”. Waka does not just mean canoe. it means vessel, and waka kotahi (the transport agency of Aotearoa) explains this VERY SIMPLY on their official website. waka kotahi means to travel together as one. Can you see how fucking upsetting this is. A Māori person in power who is in agreement about banning his own language, being so cocky about something that he does not even understand due to the suppression of the language of his people. It makes me sick. I've seen reports from Māori people all over Aotearoa speaking out about how upset and furious they are, how decades of progress have been undone in the fight to restore the rights of their people who have for so long been oppressed and have suffered the effects of colonisation. Please share this if you can, I hate knowing how few people will hear about this, I know there is so much injustice in the world right now and it is so exhausting, I know. I love you all, keep it up.
