GFJBD okay so adrian and zuri are nobles and arranged fiancés. whole complicated thing going on there, zuri is madly in love with adrian, adrian is in forbidden love with brinne (the monarch) but wants to love zuri because they’re technically meant to be together.

the red wedding was an event in some iteration of the story (back when i was still hoping to write it novel-style) where artemis’s rebellion purposefully targeted the wedding to make a statement, chaos and violence and terrorism blah blah blah and zuri ends up dead in adrian’s arms. major political beat in the story, major romantic beat in the story for adrian’s conflict with brinne and zuri.

zuri is among the least deserving to die btw. she is an actual cinnamon roll and i refuse to let her have good things. sorry girl

Ite.. So Boom Heartbreak.

So y’all remember the last person I was with. #BSJ Soo bsj and I were together almost a year and she broke it off. She hurt my feelings y’all. Like and MY feelings don’t get hurt too often because I don’t tend to let too many people into them. This one though. This took the cake. So July comes, she has her baby Dj. (girl) So baby’s here she’s got the things she needs but she’s stressing over everything else. I’m assuming. She slowly starts removing herself from me. By September her birthday comes and we aren’t really speaking. She won’t talk to me she won’t say anything to me. She finally tells me she wants to end it because she feels she won’t fall in love with me and she doesn’t want this. So we broke up. So I, being me, say okay thank you for telling me (a year and a COUPLE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LATER). Smh I was HEATED. I was PISSED. Then I was Confused. THEN I was sad and depressed. Why? Why would you wait until IM ALL THE WAY INVESTED IN YOU to drop me like a BAD HABIT? Why wait until I’m ALL THEE WAY in love giving you my all and everything else I got. I ruined my life, some friendships, some TRUST AND BULL SHIT for YOU and your kids. All I got from you was empty pockets and an empty heart and booty whenever I was there. Nothing is more disappointing than when you give your all and yourself and everything you have to someone and invest in love, and you get played in the end. She didn’t cheat or anything, but still it’s just as bad if not worse. Sooo October we’re broken up. Things are weird and hurt. She’s off doing wtf ever she used to do, and I’m still here with my bull shit ass feelings. Sooo she kept igorning me. Still wouldn’t let me talk to the kids and if she did it was when she wanted me to. Everything was wrong. I had to shake it though. I had a job to do. I had a NEW job, I had vacations coming up a birthday coming up it was just A LOT. I never ever wanted it to go that way. I ALMOST for real made her my wife. She had my girls I wanted, she was country, she knew how to cook, she was smart talented and sweet. She had everything I wanted. At least I thought so. “Rose, you cannot possibly tell me that you’re going to spend Brightshine sober,” Hex whined. Her feathers were already fluffed, the soft red down practically glowing in the light of the hearth. Her silks and the fine odds and ends attatched to them jingled in gentle harmony as she waved her forearms around. 

“I am not keen on parties Hex. You know this.”

“You would be disgracing your flight! Insulting our good goddess herself should you choose to stay in bed on such an occasion.”

Rose rolled her eyes and sighed quietly. The skydancers had been through this conversaton numerous times at this point, and it always ended with either one of the others of their motley crew changing the topic or Rose simply walking away before she let herself get dragged into one of Hex’s wild celebrations.

“Just for this year. This is our week Rose, our festival. How can you not want to celebrate you for, well, you?”

“Our flight is not the best Hex,” The skydancer leaned in, her eyes glinting underneath her hood. She lowered her voice to a sharp whisper, something that would get lost in the bustle of the tavern. “We don’t exactly deserve this, especially considering the Emporer problem.”

“Pah” Hex snorted and leaned away. “We have our issues, yes, but every flight does. No one is perfect, and yes, I will agree with you that we haven’t been our best selves as of late, but it’s Brightshine Rose! Brightshiiine.” She leaned back in with a lazy grin. Rose snorted.

“Your alcohol is catching up to you.”

Hex shrugged and lifted up her tankard to sip from it, perfectly trimmed claws clinking on the iron handle. “I can hold it, and don’t try to change the subject,” She pointed her third claw at the younger skydancer. “I still think we should come back here during the festival and enjoy ourselves. Like proper light dragons.”

Rose snorted and focused on her own drink, watching the ripples of ale in her mug. She let herself get wrapped in the noise of the tavern. Distant conversations, quiet music, and the crackling of the fireplace were comforts. It felt like she could blend in with her surroundings, go unnoticed for a while and watch Sornieth continue on without her.

The Brightshine Jubilee, the festival of light, a celebration of all light dragons and the gifts they have brought to this world, was not a time that Rose could slink into the shadows. It never has been.

“You know, if you really don’t want to go I won’t force you,” 

Rose blinked up from her thoughts and glanced at Hex. She was holding her ale with both paws and was watching her. Her voice had gone from her usual care-free tone to a gentle one that Rose was not used too.

She couldn’t read her expression.

“It’s important that we recongize our flaws and mistakes, but if we always focus on the bad things we’ve done then we can never see our worth. Yes, the Lightweaver has made mistakes, but she has made so much for us. She opened the gateway to knowledge, has collected the largest library in existence, and probably invented schools. Probably.”

Hex took a long drink of her ale and looked into the crowds of the bar before continuing.

“I’ve never seen you celebrate Brightshine, and that’s fine. If you have ill will towards our flight, that’s your buisness. I won’t force you to do anything, but you should at least do something that makes you happy this festival.”

Another beat of silence passed between them. Rose eyed Hex who had gone back to her cup.

“Thank you. I’ll....I will consider it.”

“Great!” Hex grinned, and the gentleness was gone. Her usual demeanor slipping back into place as she stood up and stretched. “You want some cinnamon sticks? I want some cinnamon sticks. I’m getting us cinnamon sticks.”

Rose watched her walk to the bar, chatting easily with Sky and a nearby local. She smiled to herself and took a swig of her ale. She could probably get a list of local events happening this festival from the bar owner on the way out.

Maybe she could get the others to tag along too.

This is precisely the philosophy that could fix [insert salty, dysfunctional gaming "community"] on a plethora of social diseases (Twitter/Reddit/etc). I applaud you taking the high road, BSJ. :)

i’m just really frustrated with “gaming community” as a whole, with nifty conditioning coming from so-called “content creators” that opinions on a game=criticism and/or facts about a game. i’m seeing lots of really fucking stupid arguments that basically go like this: “this game sucks! everyone who plays it is stupid!” “no, YOU suck, this game is great!” “oh yeah? well, this game is 100x times better because it has [list of features of said game without any context]”. it’s fucking ridiculous

it’s probably not a new phenomenon, but for me, it was the most noticeable in warframe vs. destiny wank, especially prior to release of destiny 2 and plains of eidolon. warframe community went ballistic about a competing title, and it was really hard to not get involved for me because i played both games a lot, and i was invested in both titles succeeding, separately, without one cancelling the other out. but nope, apparently, a lot of gamers believe that playing one game and not the other automatically makes them better and gives a free pass to mock and disrespect said players and outright harass devs and artists and other people creating valuable fan content.

when i started having really hard time enjoying warframe to the point of hating literally everything about the game (not even mentioning community lol) when i’m not directly playing the missions, i remembered those proud destiny vets who switched to warframe and who still went out of their way to comment on destiny content about how they abandoned the game and how wf is superior, i: a) found it incredibly funny that my experience is pretty much the opposite of theirs b) decided not to be that guy who makes intent on making sure nobody enjoys the thing they hate, not without consideration to my friends and just random strangers on the internet who might still genuinely enjoy warframe even in aspects i absolutely loathed.

i still bitch about it sometimes, privately, but you know? quitting quietly and stopping interacting with news, content aside from selected few did fucking wonders to being okay with me quitting and others staying. again, hardly a surprising phenomenon, but apparently interacting with content you hate doesn’t make you less salty about the subject and hurts your well-being

ehh. sorry for rambling. i have thought about these matters too much maybe
