there is no universal accessibility. there is no one-size-fits-all.
as a genderqueer person, i'd be over the moon if someone looked at my presentation and stumbled or asked what my pronouns are. there are gnc people, trans and cis, who don't present or perform gender in a way that makes it 'obvious' what they are 'going for'. for me, that pause, however performative, is validating and affirming. for me, as a genderqueer person, presentation anarchy and public acceptance of gender nonconformity is comforting.
and on the other hand, i know trans women who are understandably frustrated at people ignoring cues in wardrobe and makeup and opting to degender them. being degendered or misgendered because cues are being missed or ignored is an awful feeling, and this is especially a problem that trans women and other trans fems face.
we've cultivated these protocols that are polite in specific circles that i genuinely believe are used in good faith most of the time, but that doesn't stop them from mimicing bigotry.
i have no answer. ask for my pronouns and don't ask my trans sisters for theirs. there isn't a nice answer.

What's your profile picture and why did you choose it?
It's part or a larger illustration by one of my favourite artists, Felician Myrbach, and it depicts Louis-Auguste Camus de Richemont during the battle of Nicopolis.
Tumblr media
Here to download it high res.
The illustration, called Dernier Combat, is included in the work Aventures de Guerre by Frédéric Masson, who collected and published the memoirs of soldiers in a book fully illustrated by Myrbach. (x)
I chose it because, as I said, Myrbach is one of my favourite artist and I absolutely adore his style and simply because I liked the pose and appearance of Camus. Also, I thought it would have matched well with part of the content of my blog: napoleonic and military stuff.

i did want to ask if you have a preferred name so i dont call you a cup of tea <3 and have you read anything by albert camus or jeanpaul sartre?
Ofc! I go by Lin online since it's close enough to my real name but arguably sounds cooler ☕
And yes and no! (Or rather no and yes) I haven't read anything by Camus yet but The Stranger has been on my list forever (also The Rebel, mainly because of Saint-Just ofc).
But I have read Sartre! Existentialism is a Humanism is one of my favourite philosophical texts of all time (and I'm not just saying that because it's relatively short and understandable...) I've also read No Exit, the 'hell is other people' play. Good stuff.
So I guess overall:
added to TBR | on my TBR | couldn’t finish it | did not enjoy | it was OK | liked it | loved it | favorite | not interested

Everyday the realist and the romanticist inside me fight.
The realist thinks that MBTI doesn’t hold any scientific evidence of being more reliable than astrology or lie detector tests.
The romanticist blossoms because I share the same personality type as my favorite classical literature authors, painters and musicians.
I think the romanticist wins most of the time.

The Plague by Albert Camus is a fun normal book to read. I am having a normal good chill fun time reading The Plague by Albert Camus. My heart doesn't scream with pity and recognition when reading The Plague by Albert Camus. The Plague by Albert Camus will not captivate my whole soul and imprint on me permanently as a person.

I SPY A PFP CHANGE 🫵
Ghost would absolutely serenade Soap btw, especially if he learns / knows how to play. On that subject though, do you have any Ghost music headcanons? I would hear about them if you do 🧎
AGREE. HARD AGREE. I do hc that he dabbles in guitar (thanks to That loading screen in particular,) still has the secondhand one he got when he was a teenager shoved under his bed on base, pulling it out on occasion and playing (as quietly as possible) when he’s in a mood™️, hoping nobody hears. He was in the process of teaching Joseph how to play before he died. Bought him one of those tiny little kid guitars for his birthday and everything.
I think he and soap have some of the same music taste like metal and rock but I also like to think he likes classical as well. Couldn’t tell you the names of any composers besides Mozart and Beethoven and couldn’t name a piece if his life depended it, but he loves the sound

OKAY SEE BUT THE DOSTOEVSKY VERSUS CAMUS THING IS WAY TOO ACCURATE BECAUSE THAT IS LITERALLY HOW IT GOES LIKE DOSTOEVSKY'S TRYING TO FIND A RHYME AND REASON TO IT WHILE CAMUS BASICALLY WENT 'yea guys we're in the Situation we might as well deal with it and pretend we're okay with it'
BECAUSE SISYPHUS WAS ABOUT THE MONOTONY OF LIFE AND THE ENDLESS CYCLE THAT HUMANITY ENDURES-PEOPLE HAVE AVOIDED THIS DULLNESS AND DEPRESSION BY BECOMING SUPERFICIAL AND ABANDONING HIGHER OR DEEPER THOUGHT AND-
