Ooooo boy I got tagged by @childlikegoblinqueen and @fynn-arcana thank y’all 🥰
RULES: make a new post with the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! and then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
Ashes: just posted chapter 36! We’re coming up on the beginning of the end and I think I’m still on track to have about 45 or 46 chapters total at the end of it all. Also one more major interlude left to go! 👀
The Caleb Files: The prequel story to Ashes. The story of Caleb, Evelyn, growing up too fast, and the lie that burned everything down. There’s only one thing written for this so far and a playlist started
Halloween Pt. 3: lmao I had more ideas of random funny shenanigans after returning to Willow’s sleepover in Ashes that didn’t end up making it into the Final Cut bc it was already such a beast. I might release it as a silly one shot bonus later
Untitled Bungo Stray Dogs Heathers AU: uhhhhh toxic af soukoku fic where Chuuya is Veronica and Dazai is JD. I killed off Kouyou. Probably perpetually unfinished tbh. Wasn’t posted anywhere so it lives in my google docs forever
Ellie/Elowyn AU: my girlfriend and i made up a Grimwalker OC that was accidentally made from Evelyn instead of Caleb, and was one of the unfinished grims left behind in the mud by Belos. Hunter finds her when helping Darius catalogue palistrom wood left behind in the lab and now Huntlow has a grimwalker child! And boy she is FULL Clawthorne 😳
Don’t Form Voltron Under the Bed: (retches) I hate how this ended up. I cringe. I don’t want to look at it. (Markiplier voice) “If i could kill it, I would. But legally I cant.” I never wrote the last chapter and I’m sorry but idk if I ever will because I have a visceral reaction to any mention of Voltron now
The First Golden Guard: concept only. based on the route I thought the Golden Guard and Caleb/Evelyn Lore would take. Involves mindscape and time pool shenanigans and would actually take place post-finale
Tagging other fic writerssss okkkk @silvvergears @oh-cramity-its-amity @moroser @unniebeans @rfswitchart @willowsz-plantsz and if there’s anyone I forgot 😅

twenty years ago, i wrote a Star Wars fic.
two years ago, i opened the document for the first time since junior high and liveblogged the reread for Mary.
tonight... you get to experience the experience. savor it. firefox crashed twice while i was compiling this post, so cursed is the tale...
someday, Mary, i will tell you about the cringiest thing i've ever written. it's completely ripped off of a Boba Fett novel released right after AotC, there are song lyrics repurposed as a poem, iirc there's a literal Plot Device that gets completely forgotten about until i realized i was at the end of the story… anyway, i just have to read it myself first, because i literally haven't opened that document in fifteen years. it's that bad. i printed it out and brought it to my grandparents' cabin upstate and made everyone in my family read it. i physically cannot let you read the entire thing, but when i finally get up the courage, i'll liveblog it for you
it's so bad, Mary. it's so bad. the ship in the story is literally the Slave I with (i think???) a different name. i distinctly remember looking up the actual type of ship in one of my brother's many Star Wars guides
it's FANTASTIC and just the vague memory is so awful i seriously haven't touched it since i was like, 13
i don't remember very much of the plot except the kid trying to get his ship back, because i'm pretty sure that's what happened in the Boba Fett novel lmao
there's supposed to be something about a mysterious crystal, but after like one chapter i forgot about it until remembering at the very end and just having this kid find it in a ship. like… imagine opening your glove compartment one afternoon and finding the fucking Hope Diamond in there. that's pretty much what happens
the last true island of cringe on my hard drive must be conquered
should've bought myself a neck brace in case i cringe so hard my head retracts into my torso
me: alright before i even open the document, i should tell you it's called 'Cast My Soul to the Sea'. IF i recall correctly, it's a bastardized lyric from a Loreena McKennitt song Mary: This is going to be AMAZING
i'm not sure i ever heard this song. i took the title and the """"poem"""" in the story from the titles of a totally different Star Wars story i found online. i didn't read it, btw, i just liked the title
okay. gonna open the document. if i never reply again it's because god smote me
thank god it's not written in Comic Sans
okay. okay. up until this instant i didn't remember the protagonist's name but thought it started with a J… turns out his name is Zachary McCoy. a very Star Wars name there.
anywho, it starts off with a line from this """""""""poem"""""""", and Zach's sister Evelyn asking if that's all he's written. he claims "seventh form" is difficult, whatever that is.
their father is apparently coming home soon. he is, OF COURSE, a bounty hunter.
we timeskip to Tuesday when Dad gets home… okay, this family consists of Zachary, his two little sisters Evelyn and Clarissa, mom Rachel, and dad… Breon. BREON. i mean, at least i was TRYING to make something a little more Star Warsy, but it stands out badly compared to the much more normal names. i should've gone big or gone home. why not Zaqureehy???
…i just realized this entire story is SEVEN PAGES LONG. what the actual fuck, 13-year-old Alex???? you useless asshole.
moving on… Zach notices his father seems sad, but doesn't worry about it much
Zach overhears his parents talking quietly and conveniently catches a few super relevant words! we get our first mention of the 'Caman's Crystal'
so Breon needs a hand because he has to track a bounty on Yavin 4, but he also has to get help from "the couriers on Dell", whatever that means. apparently he needs to do these things at the same time… so he asks his kid. how old is this kid? fuck if i know.
and there ends chapter one. it was about 400 words. i'm deeply ashamed of myself
me: chapter two… Zach sees a cool ship, goes "oh neat, whose is that?" and apparently it's HIS now. this kid is like, twelve. Mary: I mean…expensive flex, Breon, but okay
he notes it's almost like the Slave I, although HOW he knows that i have no fucking idea, except it's smaller. i'm calling it the Slave II now.
it's actually called the Starlight 7, but.. nah
Zach finds it a little strange at first but ofc he's an INSTANT EXPERT at piloting and gets the hang of it instantly
Breon apparently just vanished into the ether, because Zach's in hyperspace now. he reads a book to pass the time… which apparently has detailed descriptions of both Yavin 4 AND Kamino. can you tell i was not very familiar with anything Star Wars besides the movies?
Tumblr media
oh wait, apparently Breon's still there? okay then
Zach tells himself not to worry because his father's flying and Breon is, of course, Jango Fett with the serial number filed off there's a clone joke there
…what follows is a total rip-off of the AotC scene where Obi-Wan chases Jango and Boba through the asteroids near Geonosis, complete with some rando Jedi following Breon and Zach. except they escape by shooting a wall with a torpedo and then hiding so it looks like they crashed into the wall Rando Jedi is clearly dumb as shit, because he falls for it. why is he there? idfk
i hate myself for making my parents read this. they must've been so disappointed. i bet that was the exact moment they realized why i was kicked out of honors classes after 7th grade.
chapter three! within the space of 57 words, they land on Yavin 4, spend the night in a hotel (do they even HAVE those on Y4????), Breon tells his son where to go, and then Zach takes off on his own.
i WANT to say Breon randomly gets killed at some point off-screen, but i honestly don't remember. too bad i can't keep it that way submitting to the mortifying ordeal of knowing myself here
mmkay so he heads to Dell, which has 11 moons and apparently extremely strong gravity that pulls the ship in, though there's no actual mention of the effects this would have on a human hanging out there or anything. Zach can't find a landing pad and instead lands the ship in a small field near a city.
Tumblr media
Zach says 'people' and means 'humans'. kid's fucking xenophobic.
i'm now really glad this is short because it's excruciating.
he inexplicably gets stopped by two bounty hunters who are looking for a kid around his age LOL he namedrops his dad to scare them off
Zach then wanders around like "okay Breon McCoy is well known and i'm his son, so nobody can use me as bounty, unless i AM a bounty" and my brain just short-circuited a little
me: chapter four! he has no idea where these 'couriers' who are supposed to be awaiting him are, or even WHO they are Mary: nice going, Breon, you didn't give your kid any information me: Breon didn't do a great job prepping him for this, but that's what 57 words gets you, i guess
so he goes back to the Slave II and OH NOES IT'S GONE!!!!!!
a Dellian girl named Amandia is hanging around. that seems suspicious as fuck, but she tells Zach that a guy named Buz might've taken the ship and it's probably on Dell 2.
Tumblr media
me: what the FUCK is going on in this paragraph Mary: I'M SO CONFUSED??????? me: who's Perrier???
like. okay. so i guess Breon told Zach to find the couriers so they could help him find the crystal… and maybe Perrier is the bounty he's trying to find…?
usually i can puzzle out my own writing, but this one is… really something
fuck it, moving on. 'couriers' are Dellians light enough to… fly from the surface of Dell to the moons without a ship?? this makes NO sense but i'm pretty sure it was ripped off that Boba Fett novel, so i'm sure there was a better explanation somewhere
at this point i'm just going to assume Breon's trying to bump off his son for insurance money or something and he's in cahoots with these guys. Amandia helped steal the ship, obviously.
okay, chapter five! Zach and Amandia are on a cliff, waiting for the gravity to shift. the explanation has something to do with the moons. idk.
so they step off the cliff and fall a bit and then just… start gliding through space, rising and falling with the gravity changes. again, 100% stolen from that novel. they eventually land on the moon (no idea how they breathed this entire time), but lol it's the wrong moon
Tumblr media
yeah, Amandia's suspicious as fuck.
they do, however, make it to the correct moon. apparently "daylight never comes" there, so i'm going to assume it's tidally locked and they're just on the dark side. this inexplicably gives Zach an idea for his """"""""""""""""""""""""poem"""""""""""""""""""""
they walk for a while until they see another Dellian about Amandia's age, whatever that is. his name is… Noah. they need to use his speeder to get across the moon because Buz has his ship. how do you know that, Amandia… Zach isn't NEARLY suspicious enough for this line of work. she's so obviously working with this Buz dude, kiddo.
chapter six!
Tumblr media
Zach. honey. she flies around on weird gravity tides. this girl doesn't give a FUCK about a super-fast speeder; she's trying to get you killed or sold into slavery or something.
so they take off in Noah's speeder, which is extremely fast. Zach's cool with this because he likes upgrading his own speeders, asks if this thing goes any faster, which ofc it does.
oh hey! we finally find out Zach lives on Naboo.
Noah's been to Kamino, apparently. i don't know how i missed the very clear fact that it's an extremely isolated planet and gets very very very few visitors
they see the Slave II! but suddenly it takes off and heads for another moon!!!!! SUSPENSO.
literally two pages left. i can't believe i packed so much into seven pages and yet there's absolutely no detail, action, exposition, character development, or even much in the way of PLOT here.
side note, i just remembered a part in my dream where R2-D2 had kidnapped a person and kept them buried in a shallow grave… but they were still alive and i saw him dig them up. their entire head had been skinned and they were like, weakly crying out for help. it was extremely creepy and fucked up. then C-3PO showed up and R2 quickly buried them again before 3PO noticed. so i guess i subconsciously think R2-D2 is some kind of sadistic serial killer or something? idk, man. let's go back to the story.
so Noah decides they can follow the Slave II in his own father's ship, hilariously called the 'Superfly'. he says he's eleven years old, too… so Amandia's just a kid also? maybe Buz is her dad and he's getting her started in the crime business early. wait wait no! i was wrong! it's ZACH who's eleven. Noah is thirteen and he's annoyed he can't have his own ship
they're so busy chatting they don't notice a "small fighter" approaching until it fires at them
and then there are like… five fighters? who fight each other? and one of them is Noah's brother… idk
anyway, they manage to land on Dell 8 after that, though the ship is slightly damaged from the hit they took
Mary: Is this entire 7 page story literally just jumping from moon to moon? me: PRETTY MUCH
they see Zach's ship but can't follow in their own, so Noah grabs a conveniently located speeder and they're off again!
chapter eight… they switch so Zach can drive… they catch up to the Slave II and Buz, whoever he is, gets out… they run past him onto the ship and he takes the speeder and leaves. that's. um. anticlimactic doesn't seem to cover it.
they hear something rattling around in the ship, but WHATEVER, Zach stops on the other moon and Noah leaves and then… well… you need to witness this for yourself.
Tumblr media
i wasn't joking about the glove compartment thing. it's like the only thing from this story i really remembered lmfao also check OUT that amazing writing there.
Mary: Space glove compartments are definitely a thing, they have a whole thing with them in the Jedi Prince books, so you're just in a long line of wonderful ship glove compartment writers Mary: that being said, WHY WOULD HE PUT THE SUPER RARE AND VALUABLE CRYSTAL IN A GLOVE COMPARTMENT
chapter nine, Zach goes to a "government building" on Yavin 4 and hands over the crystal to some random official, who asks what he's doing here
look, i don't even know what this crystal is, what it does, why it's so valuable and everyone wants it… i just don't know.
me: Zach says he's looking for his father Mary: And here's where we find out…that his father is DEAD (I assume)
and then… AND THEN…
Tumblr media
THE END. except for the """"""""""""""""""""""poem"""""""""""""""""" which is like five lines, doesn't rhyme, makes no sense, and hopefully got an F.
Mary: BRILLIANT ENDING, 5 STARS
what was the crystal for? why did Buz steal Zach's ship, and why did he give it up so easily? does Zach ever go home? does the rest of his family even know Breon died? BEATS ME MAN
it's amazing. it's so bad. half the cringe comes from the inescapable knowledge that i made my family members read this. thank god i don't remember how they reacted
i bet Breon faked his death maybe he gave Zach the ship in hopes his secret lover Buz would bump him off in the process of stealing it. then they'd take the crystal, pawn it, and go off to start a new life together. Buz's daughter Amandia helps out and comes to live with them. Noah never gets his own ship. the end.

Re Evelyn Hugo YAY 💚
Yes I found it a bit slow at the start as well. My little romantic heart just wanted to read her and Celia’s story (I remember thinking at times ugh another fucking man, which I’m now laughing at myself for because…the title). But you’re so right, it’s about all the different types of love. They were conveyed beautifully and Evelyn had so much self-awareness to know what she took from and gave to each. I agree she was an excellent character; she did feel real. Flawed but honest. I admire the trust she had in herself, especially with her sexuality. Her life felt real too. Like we’re all handed a deck of cards to deal with, some average, some beautiful, and some tragic. And there’s no easy way through. I kept thinking at different points that if this happens and this happens then they’ll get their happily ever after, this will justify that, but of course that’s not what real life is like.
Oh the ending! It surprised me too. I thought there would be some connection with Monique’s dad and Evelyn, but I didn’t guess that. And then the moral conundrum of it all. Harry’s story still hurts me to think about. The lost time 💔
In summary, yes I loved it too, probably more than I realised now it’s been a few months and I’ve had the chance to reflect by reading your thoughts. Thank you for that! 😊 💕
thank you, it also helped me analyse my thoughts on the story - as so often lmao.
i agree, it's admirable how she way she possessed herself and her sexuality. the bit about the deck of cards is so right. you can make a bet and put in your cards, hoping you'll win the next round, but you can't manipulate the game of chance like that.
honestly - i also groaned to think how many fucking guys are left when i got to marriage four or something krsjfhkdthjf. i wish we knew more about celia and how she lived her life without evelyn, bc that would undoubtedly be a thrilling read. maybe that's a good idea for a sequel hehe

Song of Achilles! It’s Set during the Greek Heroic Age, it is an adaptation of Homer's Iliad as told from the perspective of Patroclus! I really like it!
Seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo was amazing!! Its set in the 1950s and the main character is bisexual 🤎
I’ll try to think of more!!
I’ve been wanting to read Song of Achilles forever!! I literally took it off my bookshelf the other day when I was deciding what to read next but then I couldn’t decide and put it back lmao😭 I think I’ll like it but I’m not good with names and just.. remembering things skshsh so anything with Green mythology is a bit tricky sometimes lool even though I think it’s SO interesting!! But I’ve heard that it’s quite accessible? So I might read that next!! Thank you <3
Ohhh I’ve heard that title so many times but I have no idea what it’s about. I’ll see if the first few pages are on google to see if I might like it 👀👀👀 thank you!!!

**knocks** Hi! How are you? I hope you are doing well. 😊 I'm just doing my occasional pop up in your inbox. Hope you don't mind me dropping in. The newest TTFATTF is nearly 8k? **Stares at you in awe** No, but seriously, that's impressive, and not entirely surprising seeing as you put such effort and care into each chapter. The short chapters are fantastic as well, so please don't over work yourself. You're almost at 100k words! What a feat! Whatever you write, even if it's only like 500 words, I know anything would be awesome. PS - You write suspense really well. I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat. You know how YouTubers will put **EMOTIONAL** in the title of their videos (and it's usually bs click bait)??? I'm gonna need you to add it to the fic tags. When I tell you I was in tears, I was in TEARS, most of this chapter. That last bit really got to me. "Grief is an echo of your love" and "Grief is love enduring because we never stop loving the people we lose". I fucking lost it. I'm kinning too hard with Emmett istg. Also, lmfao at Evelyn being completely oblivious with the lovestruck fool sitting beside her, and cuddling her yearning ass. I am feeling God in this Chili's. Amazing chapter! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏You are amazing! 😄🎊🎊 Okay! Please let your brain know that it does terrific work (and you as well, obviously). I'm tossing more flowers at you btw! 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐🌼🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸🌼
AHH HELLO FRIEND. The fact that I think this fic will wind up being one of the longest I've ever written...LMAO.
We all kin Emmett, i think. and yeah, i just, i love to explore the concepts of grief/loss/and love and how they all co-mingle in this fic because grief is such a prevalent theme in both movies (though, it's more obvious in the second film, since Emmett's character is the embodiment of someone 'frozen in grief').
and YEAH EVELYN, OPEN UR EYES GIRL! Emmett is right there is he's looking at you like this 😍🤩🥺 - lovelorn idiot.
:) Thank u so much for your kind words and encouragement.
I don't think this fic would've gotten half as long if not for the wonderful folks who spend time writing feedback to me ldsjkflsd <3

Fic Writer Interview
thank you @hoko-onchi-writes and @theaudity (i think you tagged me??? lmao) a couple people did
Name: Evelyn/fishydwarrows
Fandoms: currently The Magicians! but i’ve also written for good omens, DBH, MCU, voltron, the adventure zone, yuri on ice, carry on, TSOA, LOTR and the hobbit
Where I Post: ao3, Tumblr (sometimes???)
Most Popular One-Shot: just gonna go by current fandoms soooo my most popular magicians one shot is per verum which is a semi serious crack fic about quentin turning into a frog lmao
Most Popular Multi-Chap: my most popular mult-chap is my youth, our youth which is a coming of age childhood friends to lovers queliot story where both quentin and eliot are trans - i’ve been kinda on an unintentional hiatus with it but my classes just ended which means writing time babey!!!
Favorite Story I’ve Written: it’s definitely the time and the place which is one chapter away from being done lol the other one is a fic called “court of strangers” which i’m still writing :>
Favorite OC: technically not an OC but Hama, he’s a minor character from LOTR and he has a bigger role in I Tadui Hanar because he’s my favorite
AND GUYS I SWEAR I’M STILL WRITING IT THERE’S WORDS IN THE DOC I SWEAR
Fic I Was Nervous to Post: haven’t posted it yet but “court of strangers” !! it’s probably going to be the longest one shot i’ve even written so... yeah auhghgh also the time and the place because it’s my very first book fic and i’m very nervous about getting everyone’s book voice right
How Do I Choose My Titles: honestly it depends on the fic, sometimes i pull quotes from poetry or music and sometimes it’s lines i want to show up in the fic and sometimes it’s just words i can use as definition summaries lmaoo
Do You Outine: not really!! i’ve only outlined three fics in my life ever and coincidentally those are the ones i’m taking forever to write,, i’m very freeform bulletpointy
Complete: i have 47 completed fics on ao3! :> (and 7 abandoned.................)
Upcoming Work I’m Excited About: “court of strangers” !! it’s kinda my most ambitious because i never ever write........like....smut....and yeah lmao of course my youth, our youth because i’m determined to tell that whole story, it’s very important to me, also! i’ve got a couple other plot bunnies bouncing around in my brain i’m hoping to approach when i have more free time lmao
Worlds I’d Love to Write for in the Future:
i never know what i’m going to write about lmao but maybe something for magicians new class?? i’m enamored of the idea of audrey/sophie and definitely more femslash because i tend to do that for my serious writing instead of fic
i tag @ofshadowsandstars @faeymouse and anyone who wants to do this! these things are fun :)

I'm tiptoeing in to spread some of the storyteller Saturday love I'm like a BAD friend and don't much about your wips so maybe punch me in the face with your favorite things about each of them.
Hi friend! Sorry I came back to this late lmao and it's good ummmm
Favorite things about all of them
Tbh I love all the "progressive" things I did with Lilium that was the novel that had me experiment with so much and shatter so many tropes? The stepmom isnt evil. Lilith is a promiscuous teen. Oliver is understandably angsty? And I've gotten a lot of compliments about the emotions behind the work like I put..... so much into this book, dude.
I love how much fun I had with TOOD? The entire first draft was me not giving a single fuck and putting what /i/ want into it. Of course it's a giant mess and I have a lot to fix but like. The first draft was pure fun.
I love [Untitled Project] because I love the characters behind it. It started as a shitpost basically about how much I hated a Skyrim character and it blossomed into its own thing entirely. Plus murder lesbians and plots to overthrow corrupt persons.
I'm trying to think of what singular thing I love about TWEfA the most. Uhhh... I love how determined I am to see it through tbh. This book has had a lot of iterations and changed a lot. Dakota has remained a constant regardless of what the book is about and this current iteration has five drafts because I keep trying different shit with it?? I think I'm liking what's going on in this draft. We'll see.
As for BTMS I put a lot of my love for snakes into it and also I love Lady Yoru. I want her to step on me. I'm horny for vampires - there, I said it. Also, in general, the concept started as "necromancer gets to fuck a vampire" but instead of erotica it turned into an angst session and Evelyn is ace so. Lots of changes.
As for Out of Focus (which needs a better title IMHO) I'm fond of the general idea behind it. Like yeah I kinda jacked the photograph concept from Life is Strange but Siobhan? An icon. And Charlie is pretty cool too but it's kinda because of Charlie that I haven't been able to write it yet (some feelings there I need to process).
Thanks for the ask!!

Character’s theme song(s): Addict of the Gallery - Faith Marie Hobbies to pass time: Nursing Pokémon, skateboarding, playing guitar, dancing, sex, rocking it off with friends in clubs or at gigs, traveling (if she could spare the cash), song writing, shoplifting Mental illnesses: Max isn’t diagnosed with a mental illness but she tends to disconnect from her emotions by disassociating for a while a lot. She has a bad habit of suppressing pain through sex or/and drugs (latter during the later part of her game verse), can be emotionally stumped, has a temper and builds heaps upon heaps of guilt upon herself.  Physical illnesses: N/A Left or right brained: I’d say it is quite balanced. Fears: Rejection, living on the streets again, losing herself, losing her Pokémon, not being a good enough role model for those who count on her, making herself vulnerable to emotional torment by letting people close enough to hurt her, that nothing she does has meaning, not being good enough, not having a clear goal to spur her forwards.  Self-confidence level: Fluctuates. Most of the time at least she appears quite confident.  Vulnerabilities: Her Pokémon, Guzma, Rosie, the handful of people she calls friends, her pride.

11/11/11
tagged by @alittlegoblinwrites, thank you!! i loved your questions:)
rules: answer my 11 questions, then add 11 of your own and tag 11 people!
Do you find it easier to be working on only one WIP are do you prefer to have multiple going at once?
i like to have multiple ideas circulating at once, but i’d rather put my focus on one at a time for my own peace of mind.
Do you give your favourite OCs special treatment or do you relish in torturing them?
i do whatever works for the story!! typically my favorite ocs are the shit ones who have awful personalities, and since i tend to be meaner to the wholesome characters, i guess you could say i give my favorites special treatment.
What do you feel is more important for your WIP, a good hero or a good villain?  Why?
definitely a good hero. for one thing, since the story is usually told from the hero’s perspective, i think it’s important to make them likable and easy to side with. plus, i feel like a bad villain is easier to overlook than a bad hero from a reader’s standpoint (but i think writers should put equal consideration into both and make them both “good” if they can!!)
What do you think is an underused trope? Have you included it in your WIP?
enemies to lovers. god, i love that trope with my whole entire heart. unfortunately, the closest i have right now is margot and evelyn in project same the universe, and even that isn’t the same (margot isn’t a big fan of evelyn, but evelyn is indifferent and they definitely aren’t enemies). hopefully i can work it into lark and eli somehow, though!!
How easy is it for you to kill off characters?
it’s not too difficult. i don’t use an outline and i’m not a big planner in general, but i tend to know the gist of who’s kicking the bucket. that way, i’m too surprised/sad when it happens.
Sci-fi or fantasy? How come?
fantasy for sure. i love reading sci-fi, but when i tried writing it a few years back i learned i’m not quiet smart enough for it lmao
Pick a fictional character from another piece of fiction (book, movie, tv show, etc) who you think would fit in with your universe perfectly:
ooohh, i would have to go with emma carstairs from the dark artifices series. i could definitely see her as a cimmerian god, totally accustomed to magic and gleefully showing the mages the ropes.
If there was a colour scheme for your WIP, what would it be?
lots, of blues and greys, i think. mostly because eli’s magic is blue and the castle is made of grey stone, so that’s the imagery that automatically pops into my head.
What is one song that reminds you of your WIP, and why?
i just talked about three big ones in this tag if anyone want to check it out!!
Have you ever drawn your OCs?
i have!! i’m constantly doodling them in class (not very well, though!!)
If there’s always a piece of writing advice or tip you have to remind yourself of before you write, what is it?
k.i.s.s. - keep it simple stupid. works just as well for writing as it does for dwight on sales calls. (hehe little office reference)
but really, it’s good advice, even if it mostly only applies to the first draft.
okay, so now for my eleven questions:
what draft of your current wip are you on?
do you prefer to write with a large cast of characters or a small one?
how do you choose names for your characters? (is it random, is it by meaning, etc)
where is your favorite place to write and how often can you go there?
is your favorite genre to read the same as your favorite genre to write? different? why?
what’s your absolute favorite piece of writing advice?
do you always adhere to that advice?
do you use prologues? epilogues? why or why not?
how well would you rate your titling skills on a scale of 1-10? why?
are you happy with the current title(s) of your wip(s)?
pretend this is a question and show some appreciation to your favorite writer, whether they’re on tumblr or not!
tagging (no pressure, of course!!): @writingtothestars, @marewriteblr, @marlettwrites, @caitwritesstuff, @things-waiting-to-be-written, @mybookisbad, @katerinarevel, @requiemesque, @whywritewhenyoucansleep, @onfablesandfiction, @tayluinwrites, and anyone else who sees this and wants to do it!! (please haha, those questions took forever to come up with and i want to see someone answering them!!)<3

🥺🌼💕 get to know your mutuals!! when you get this, it means i want to know more about you, so list 5 things about yourself you want your followers to know. they can be as simple as your age or as complex as your deepest fear, as long as it’s something you’re comfortable with sharing. when you’re done, send this to 10 people you want to get to know better 🥺🌼💕
Hello.
I didn't expect this to be honest.
1) My favourite colour is red though I don't own many clothes in that shade.
2) I can't swim and I am absolutely horrid at sports.
3) English is my second language. French is my third language at a very rudimental level but it has some similarities with my dialect that I totally understand and speak very little and I want to learn Spanish. I want to try German but their use of capitalisation makes me wonder. Dative etc. are not a problem (I was excellent at Latin in school). I used to wish to learn Japanese and Russian.
4) I have received anon hate here when I was in the Kingsman fandom despite virtually interacting with maybe three people. I know who sent it. They are not active here anymore.
5) I appreciate kindness in people above intelligence because I receive very little of it. I am sapiosexual (Brainy is the new sexy) but I don't want to know you anymore if you are an asshole. I used to appreciate intelligence over kindness.
Thank you.
Tagging whoever of you wants to do it.
I'll sent this to some of you because I am chaotic but feel free to do it and tag me if you are not in this short list.

entirely unasked for, read books 2017, first half.
Unter der Sonne (Daniel Kehlmann, 1998/2008): Daniel Kehlmann is, for now, my favourite germanspeaking writer (style-wise, no worries Fritz) and I started the year with reading some of his early works I hadn’t read yet. Unter der Sonne is a collection of short stories and as almost all of Kehlmanns narrations they are always very real but shifting into a dream, or it feels like it at least, always on the verge of a nightmare. one could call it surreal realism? or very real surrealism? it’s very hard to put into words but oh boy, I just love it so much. so I have already read Ruhm (Fame), a later collection of short stories and I liked the overall compilation of those more, especially because the stories were slightly linked to each other. But still Unter der Sonne was brilliant as ever! / English title: this has not been translated I think?
Der Verbrecher aus verlorener Ehre (Friedrich Schiller, 1786): this was… quite wild to say the least. / English title: The Criminal of Lost Honour
Du hättest gehen sollen (Daniel Kehlmann, 2016): I love this little novel. It’s definitely one of my favourites by Daniel Kehlmann. And i really need to reread it! The mathematics mysticism is strong in this one. Das Geodreieck! / English title: You should have left
Maria Stuart (Friedrich Schiller, 1800): i feel terrible but the best thing about this book, which i bought at the flea market, is still that it came with a self made book mark -a ladie’s leg in a pantyhose and a very fancy high heeled shoe, probably cut out from a magazine and strengthend with adhesive tape- which must be, judging by the look of it, at least 60 years old, if not older (the book is from 1939). but apart from that, I also liked the play itself! but it has already been several months and to say anything specific about it now I would have to ask Evelyn Hamann to give a short recap of the bisher gesendeten Folgen. “Auf dem Landsitz Fortheringhay…”
Die Wahlverwandschaften (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 1809): i was meaning forever to read this and it was so beautiful, and sad! :( not even to speak of the quite obvious Schiller parallels. :(( and also, if you ever decide to read Die Wahlverwandschaften, please do so while listening to Die Ballade von Wolfgang und Brigitte by Wir sind Helden! / English title:  Elective Affinities
Beerholms Vorstellung (Daniel Kehlmann, 1997): this was Daniel Kehlmann’s first novel and ironically the last left that I hadn’t read. Compared to later works it maybe wasn’t as strong and the style not as developped but still very, very good. It’s about a magician, that is illusionist, who isn’t satisfied with his own skills because he himself still is aware that it’s all just tricks and illusion and thus tries to master his tricks so perfectly and blindly that he can become oblivious to the procedure in order to become a Real Magician and in the progress partially loses grip of reality. I mean… that idea alone is fascinating.
Cornelia Goethe (Sigrid Damm, 1992): Sigrid Damm deserves a medal for writing honest, inspiring and heartwrenching biographies about people (esp. women) we know so very little about!
Heinrich von Kleist (Dora Wentscher, 1956): this was a true lucky find at the flea market, I am still amazed. Oh Berndi!
Wallensteins Lager (Friedrich Schiller, 1798): this is merely a prologue to the other two parts of the Wallenstein triology so i really need to go on reading the other two (main) parts. / English title: Wallenstein’s Camp
Sprachwandel (Rudi Keller, 1990): How and that language changes is something that amazes me to no ends and I have been musing about that subject for years now but I have never actually read anything about it by someone who actually knows what they’re talking about. So it was amazing and interesting and I am (still) so thrilled by this. Language is like the most amazing yet inapprehensible thing ever?! / English title: On Language Change
Maurice (E. M. Forster, 1914/1971): this book stole my heart all over again after having seen the film already some years ago. like seriously, I am internally crying tears of joy ever since. please read this! it will not diasappoint, and Christopher Isherwood himself was a fanboy okay?
Goodbye to Berlin (Christopher Isherwood, 1939): talking of the devil-this book is amazing! it’s like a mosaicy glimpse into pre-nazi Berlin, or rather Berlin right before turning and already turning into nazi Berlin. despite all, this book made me want to be there myself with all these people.
Die Physiker (Friedrich Dürrenmatt, 1962): that was a weird and funny one. and not at all what I expected. I had always heard that even people who had to read it in school had liked it but apart from that knew nothing about it. / English title: The Physicists
Christopher and his kind (Christopher Isherwood, 1976): this is the non-fiction version of Christopher Isherwoods time in Berlin with its gay community. mainly, he is on the run from the nazis with his boyfriend Heinz. very sad and also a bit wild.
Winnie-the-Pooh (A. A. Milne, 1926): I might be identifying with Eeyore A Little Too Much. But really what a cute and clever book! (It made me think in Capitalised Expressions for days.)
The Importance of being Earnest (Oscar Wilde, 1895): i don’t know why i waited so long to read Oscar Wilde but omg, that was hilarious and amazing!!
Mr Norris Changes Trains (Christopher Isherwood, 1935): i didn’t enjoy this as much as Goodbye to Berlin and Christopher and his Kind, the entire story is somewhat sinister and the characters not really likeable somehow? but then I also read that Isherwood himself didn’t like it before i even started reading so I think I was also a bit biased. but it’s also very interesting to see how his style developped in contrast to the masterpiece I think Goodbye to Berlin is
Relato de un náufrago (Gabriel García Márquez, 1970): earlier this year I started reading Cien Años de Soledad (100 Years of Solitude) by García Márquez but stopped half way through because it confused the hell out of me and I somehow didn’t connect to the characters at all. I don’t know if it was for the Spanish or simply for the sheer amount of characters -of which half have the same name?!- and the large time span the novel is narrated on? anyway I wanted to give García Márquez another chance and picked something lighter, shorter and with less people - only one to be precise! And I enjoyed it very much! / English title: The Story of a Shipwrecked Sailor
Schillers Schwester Christophine (Annette Seemann, 2009): Christophine (Fene) was two years older than her little brother Fritz and since they both were much older than their younger siblings they were an inseparable duo in their childhood days. It is also said that Christophine’s character was a model for a lot, if not most, of Schiller’s female heroines. But as biographies about women in history go they can be a tough thing and this one makes no exception - to the point where it becomes almost unbearable! I got teary eyed reading this in the subway; but then I also might be caring about the Schillers A Little Too Much. / I highly doubt this has been transated.
Progress in Sign Language Research (Schulmeister/Reinitzer, 2002): blame (that is thank) Fargo and Russel Harvard that I suddenly became aware of how there’s an entire different set of languages to learn and learn about! The craziest thing was that while I was reading this very book (at work, sometimes there’s just not that much to do) an actual Deaf Person came to the cinema and asked if we were showing movies with english subtitles (which we don’t). That is he came up to me and said “deaf” and gestured writing in his hand and I then handed him a notepad on which we had our conversation. But everything happened so fast and there was another costumer waiting, and I was so taken aback, (I misspelled english as englisch how awkward!) but I had that book literally laying there next to me on the counter. I still wish I could have showed him. :/ I also regret not having been able to look up some cinemas for him that show movies with english subtitles. I hope he found one anyway!
A Room with a View (E. M. Forster, 1908): so after Maurice I wanted to read more by Forster and he did not disappoint! i had a lot of other stuff on my mind while reading this so it lost me a bit in the middle but totally got my attention back towards the end and i’m definitely going to reread this some day. and I simply cannot believe how wonderfully fantastical the Emersons are! although i’m yet to read Walden I am already contemplating putting “mistrust all enterprises that require new clothes” on my wardrobe as well-what a thing to do lmao! naturally I immediately watched the film after finishing the book and it was also nice seeing the entire Maurice cast again, only in different roles, haha!
books on my reading list for the second half of 2017:
Hundraårigen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann (Jonas Jonasson, 2009)
A Single Man (Christopher Isherwood, 1964)
Die Leiden des jungen Werther (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe,1774)
The House at Pooh Corner (A. A. Milne, 1928)
Of Mice and Men (John Steinbeck 1937)
A Manual for Cleaning Women (Lucia Berlin, 1977/1999)
