the character everyone gets wrong

Ooh, I actually have several I could talk about here but I want to mention Dynamite from Cooking Crush and Sailom from Wedding Plan because the misperceptions of both seem rooted in the same core issue: not understanding the way homophobia and the closet shaped a queer character and failing to extend empathy to understand how their behavior may connect back to that. Dynamite was called a stalker by so many fans but he didn't stalk anyone, he simply confidently pursued his love interest in a way I guess folks were uncomfortable seeing from a femme gay character. Dynamite was a survivor with fierce pride who knew putting his whole self out there was the best form of protection. And Sailom was called all kinds of names for lying to his love interest with no acknowledgment that the lie was to protect not only his own life but that of his best friend in the world. They weren't entering a lavendar marriage for kicks, but people acted like he should have told his crush and blew up his whole life like it was nbd. The lack of empathy I saw in the discourse for those two characters still pisses me off.

Hmm, not about a specific show, but I very much disagree with the common sentiment that the only way to be a fan of something is to accept and cheerlead it uncritically. I like critical analysis, if you hadn't noticed, and I often have some very harsh critiques of even my most favorite media content. To me, spending all that time thinking about something is a form of devotion whether you have dings or not.

hey rose! for the wip i’m currently on, this was supposed to serve as more ‘introductory’ to the fic itself as this was something that took place off-screen just prior to it. (since i’m likely going to be working on this for a few months, i’m not sure this is even going to remain how the fic really opens!)

One of Robin’s arms slaps someone out of the way, and Luffy cackles.

Like you, I’ve only watched the campaign (still have yet to play my jest COD), so my perspective on the games is a bit limited. That said, I wrote a whole analysis on MWII and just MW19’s car scene anyway. So there’s a couple links if you’re up to reading them!

As for the original trilogy, I definitely have thoughts, but most of them are in the middle space between “I liked them” and “I won’t be watching this again.” Which lands them in the “I should watch them again because I remember nothing.”

I do remember I loved the overalls story, love the range of characters (my favorite character was the UGV that rolled around and the player could control (I named it Vasily)) even if I would punch a couple of them for being annoying, and liked the mission transitions. Combat also looked really solid.

There are so many AUs and fic tropes that I love reading about, and everyone puts their own unique twist on them. I don't feel like a weirdo or an outlier in this fandom, unlike with previous ones. And @camptriplepine, you share the same love for summer camp stories that I do, so that makes me happy. I love seeing your posts on my dash! N: Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or fandom of choice) Well, I'm not really an active member of the S*pernatural fandom anymore, and the reasons I'm going to list are a big part of why I'm not. Number one, I never saw a sense of community or family within the fandom. They liked to call themselves a "family", but I never felt more alienated when I was in that fandom than any other fandom I've been in. Number two, the infighting. The fandom was full of toxic behavior, from content policing to death threats, purity culture, harassment, and callouts. People just could not ship and let ship, OR allow people to enjoy the content and character headcanons they had. It was so negative, even when I filtered content and blocked, I still saw awful behavior. And number three, I wish I had seen more fun things. O: Choose a song at random, which ship or character does it remind you of? "Voices Carry" by 'Til Tuesday reminds me of a teen Lawrusso AU where Daniel and Johnny are fooling around, and Daniel is falling head over heels for Johnny, but Johnny is afraid to admit that he's queer (mostly because of his mom, Sid, and Kreese), so he tells Daniel that they have to keep their relationship hidden. Wowwww, I made myself sad. Q: A ship you've abandoned and why Dean/Cas (aka D*stiel) from SPN. I don't want to get too much into it, because I don't want to get a ton of hate, but I will say that a big part of why I abandoned it was due to the hardcore shippers. If you'd like to know more about why, I'll tell you. Just message me :) R: A pairing you ship that you don't think anyone else ships Hmm. I'm not sure that I have any odd ships. 1 year ago, to this day, my friend bought me Sonic Frontiers. It has now been 1 year of me being completely hyperfixed on the blue blur, his twin tailed brother, and all the others. I can't thank my friend enough for what he did.

I will be taking a week or two off from posting, just as a small break.

In a year, there have been

646 drawing pages (at least, saved on my phone)

So many friends and acquaintances (if you know who you are, pat yourself on the back)
