When Jason was tossed in the Pit, there was a...tiny side effect.

He got dunked in as a teenager, and the Waters really did try to heal what they could.

But fuck them, it was a lot. Mostly malnutrition, so the Water just...put the body back to how it was before all of that damage.

In goes a teenager, out crawls a terrified three year old. A three year old toddler who only vaguely recalls his life from before.

A toddler that is, in Ra's words, "useless".

Talia barely manages to convince Ra's to let Jason live, and pairs him with Damian. Damian could use a lesson on responsibility, Damian could train the little boy, it would be good for the heir to learn how to communicate with others. See, Ra's? There's no reason to put down the child.

Damian, who gets a front row seat at what League training looks like...when it's done on another child. One even younger than him.

And Damian is nothing if not his fathers son.

He cannot stand the injustice of watching his teachers beat a child for something said child could not possibly comprehend.

So Damian works with Talia and leaves a lot sooner, his new little brother clutched close to him, and arrives on his fathers doorstep not only to ask for further training, but to plead for protection for the tiny toddler clinging to him with a white-knuckled grip.

TLDR; Jason gets deaged, it's permanent, and Damian being an older brother changes things. (i mean he's still Damian, but he gets an early crash course in protecting someone much smaller than him and how to care for others).

Penguins of madagascar and tmnt 2012 really should've had a crossover

Like think about it, they both have very similar team dynamics: the leader, the brainiac, the "explosive" one (whether that be literally or figuratively) and the silly one (not to mention that THERE ARE FOUR OF THEM IN EACH FRANCHISE)

They both take place in New York City

They both feature talking animals. Very stealthy very skilled animals.

In fact there was a four year time period where both shows were even AIRING at the same time (tmnt 2012 ran from 2012 to 2017 and Penguins of Madagascar ran from 2008 to 2015)

Nickelodeon you most definitely could've made an hour long special of some kind where the secret agent penguins and the ninja turtles met and defeated crime together. (Maybe the penguins ended up in New York's Sewer system and met the turtles, maybe the turtles got kidnapped and were sold to the zoo and the penguins had to bust them out)

It could've been so incredibly amazing, drawing in fans from both shows and maybe even getting new fans as a result.

Hell they could've gonna all out on the marketing and make it amazing

The post i recently reblogged about the Romeo and Juliet with heelys in reminded me of the way I got my first heelys.

It was when we lived in the states (NYC area) and my mother had a drs appointment that was going to take at least an hour. I was 8, and allowed to either stay in the waiting room or go to the rooftop garden, but that was all.

At the age of eight I had gotten my first job that paid like, appreciable money (I worked for the family business for five dollars an hour prior to this but got a job with a friend of the family pulling 100 dollars a week doing two nights of office cleaning with them. Yea, child labor. Not the point of my funny story tho. I liked my money. I’m honestly not mad about it.)

So I had cash.

And damn I wanted heelys.

So I illicitly left the building and walked six blocks to the closest Modell’s (gotta go to mo’s) and bought my gorgeous heelys for 30 big bucks.

At this age I had taken to carting around a huge messenger bag for all my books and I had premeditated this excursion and packed an empty box in the bag to make it look full, chucked that in a crosswalk garbage bin and carried the shoebox back.

Not questioned by the mother. None the wiser I had left.

No one was awake to see me leave for school wearing them and no one was home to see me come home wearing them and I got away with this for literal years (I had had a fairly large growth spurt at 8 and bought two sizes too big so they fit for ages)

trying to remember the name of a film I watched ages ago, if anyone knows the name please let me know

it was a Scandinavian film, I'm not sure when it was set exactly but it was an era of vinyl records and corporal punishment in schools. and it was about a boy aged like 8 to 12, whose dad had just gotten out of a mental hospital/rehab facility. the dad isn't doing great, and the boy spends a lot of time hanging out with a new student teacher at his school (including at the teachers house, which was apparently considered normal at the time)

the boy is caught spying on the girl's changing room, and the principal of the school beats him so violently he almost loses an ear. the principal tells the police that it was the dad who beat the boy, and since the dad was mentally ill, no one believed him when he said he didn't. the student teacher saw the boy arrive at school that day perfectly fine and so he knew the damage must have happened at school, but the principal blackmailed him into not sharing this information with the police.

there's a scene where the boy is in his classroom surrounded by the other kids, and he just keeps saying "liar! liar!" to the principal, and eventually the other kids join in (except it's not in English, I'm not sure what language it was in, but their word for liar sounded like lowner)

in trying to figure out how to process/think about elven aging I did come down on the side of childhood/adolescence being equivalent to humans' in terms of length and development, which means that in perspective elves likely consider physical childhood an almost negligible period of time. (the realization that you are a quarter of a century old is much different when that's a quarter of your lifespan than it is when it's a tenth or less of your lifespan!) however I would love to see someone more mathematically-inclined with a take on aging that works more telescopically (reverse telescopically?), wherein life stages all around are drawn out to scale... ex: an elf child might be chronologically twenty years old but physically and mentally equivalent to, like, a ten-year-old human... idk I just think it could be really interesting to see. human now fifty years old established in their career no longer really peers with the fifty-year-old elf who went to school with them because the elf is still basically a teenager.
