Dad duties | cl16
Summary: where you meet an adorable dad and his little girl at the beach. Warning: none, just dad!charles, a little emotional, instant crush and FLUFF, pure fluff.
a/n: Hii, a long time ago I was thinking about doing a story about what Charles would be like as a single dad... Something crazy, I know, but I hope you like it!! Let me know if you want a part two of this <3
Part 2 Part 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sun gleams off the turquoise water, gentle waves lap at the shore. You walk along the beach, toes sinking into the warm sand. Giggles suddenly catches your attention, you turn to see a little girl, barely a year old, with bright eyes and a head full of messy curls, crawling determinedly towards you. She reaches you, grabbing a handful of your sundress. You smile, kneeling down to her level.
“Hey there, little one. You seem a little bit lost.”
The girl babbles happily, reaching for your sunglasses. You chuckle and gently remove them, placing them on top of your head.
A shadow falls over you. You look up to see a tall, handsome man with kind greenish eyes and sun-streaked hair... He looks slightly flustered.
“Oh god, I'm so sorry, that's my little escape artist Ava, come here to Papa munchkin.” He smiles apologetically.
Ava squeals and reaches for him. He scoops her up effortlessly, her tiny giggles filling the air.
“Don't worry, she's adorable! How old is she?” you asked.
“One year old, going on a hundred!” He winces as Ava grabs a fistful of his hair. You can't help but laugh. “Ouch, sweetie that hurts!” He says and Ava giggles.
“Looks like she has you all wrapped around her little finger.”
“Definitely.” he chuckles.
He introduces himself as Charles, you tell him your name. To your surprise, the conversation flows easily, you learn he's a single dad, the love and devotion evident in his gaze as he talks about Ava. He opens up about his complicated relationship with his ex (Ava's mother), the challenges of dating as a single parent. You listen intently, impressed by his honesty and dedication to his daughter.
“You seem to be doing a great job, Charles. And that's impressive, you know, how hard you work and try to be the best every day for her.” you smile.
Ava snuggles closer to him, burying her face in his neck.
“I manage to do a good job... It's definitely a handful, but she's worth it all.” he smiles.
A comfortable silence settles between you. You steal a glance at him, then quickly look away, cheeks warming. You sense a similar flicker of something unspoken in his eyes.
“Well, maybe I should let you get back to building sandcastles with your princess.” You say with a bit of haste.
“Actually, I was wondering... Would you maybe, I don't know, maybe... Want to grab some ice cream with us sometime? Ava loves company, and frankly, so do I.” He speaks hurriedly.
You feel a flutter in your chest. This unexpected encounter has taken a sweet turn. “I'd love to. Thanks!” you smile.
Ava lets out a delighted squeal, as if sensing the possibility of ice cream, You and Charles giggle at her reaction.
“Great! How about next Saturday? Same place? How does that sound?”
You nod. “Sounds perfect.”
He smiles, you can see how the corners of his eyes wrinkle, something very cute for you. “Perfect... Ehm, here! Write down your number and I'll write down mine.” He says as he takes out his cell phone to give it to you and you take yours out of your beach bag to hand it to him.
You wrote your number on his cell phone with the name of: "y/n the life-saver 🎀". When he finishes he gives you your cell phone back and you see that he has registered himself as: "Charles the handsome dad 😋" you can't help but laugh at the name.
“Well, then I'll write to you to keep in touch... Handsome dad.” You say with a giggle and he blushes.
Ava yawns, nuzzling deeper into his embrace.
“I think someone's getting tired.” you giggle while looking at Ava.
“She probably is. Sand and sunshine can be exhausting for little ones.” He says and then smiles a little. “This was unexpected... But so nice.” he says quietly.
“Yeah, definitely nice!” you say meeting his warm gaze.
A blush creeps up Charles' neck as he finally pulls back slightly.
“See you next Saturday then, Y/N, it was nice to meet you!”
You smile. “It was also nice to meet you both!”
He nods, a goodbye lingering in his eyes. Charles walks away, cradling a sleepy Ava in his arms, you watch them go, a warm feeling spreading through you. This chance encounter has blossomed into something promising, and as you turn towards your car, a smile lingers on your lips. The beach seems a little brighter now, filled with the promise of sunshine, ice cream, and maybe, just maybe, something more.
Suddenly, your phone buzzes in your pocket. It's a text message. You pull it out, expecting a message from a friend, but your heart skips a beat when you see the name displayed on the screen - Charles the handsome dad 😋.
Charles the handsome dad 😋: Ava just fell asleep. She kept asking for "y/n." Any chance you have a favorite ice cream flavor? Trying to win some brownie points for Saturday afternoon.
A laugh escapes your lips. He's charming, that's for sure. You quickly type a response.
y/n the life-saver 🎀: Chocolate chip cookie dough, always! And tell Ava I said goodnight. See you on Saturday cha!
You hit send and a warm feeling washes over you. This unexpected encounter has taken a delightful turn, and with a giddy anticipation for saturday's ice cream date, you turn back towards the ocean. The waves seem to whisper a promise of something exciting to come, and you can't wait to see where this newfound connection might lead.
***
The cheerful clinking of spoons against ice cream sundaes fills the air. You sit across from Charles at a brightly colored table, a giant chocolate chip cookie dough sundae melting in front of you. Ava, nestled comfortably in a high chair, digs into a kid-sized strawberry sundae with a look of pure bliss.
He chuckles “Looks like someone's enjoying their treat.”
Ava lets out a happy gurgle, a smear of red adorning her cheek. You laugh, you leaned towards her to wipe her cheek.
“She's definitely got a sweet tooth.” you say while wiping her cheek.
Charles takes a bite of his own sundae, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Just like her dad. Thanks for the recommendation, this cookie dough ice cream it's fantastic!” he smiles.
“My pleasure, I'm glad you both like it.”
Ava reaches out, grabbing a stray piece of cookie dough from your sundae. You laugh, helping her bring it to her mouth.
“Careful, little one, that's a big bite!”
Charles watches the interaction between you and Ava, a smile playing on his lips.
“You seem to have a way with kids.” He says softly while looking at the two of you with adoration.
You shrug. “I guess so, I have a younger brother, so I've had my fair share of practice.”
The conversation flows easily between bites of ice cream, you learn more about Charles' life as a single dad, the challenges and rewards that come with it, he talks about his passion for racing, a twinkle in his eyes as he describes his dream of one day competing professionally. You share your own dreams and aspirations, surprised at how comfortable you feel opening up to him.
As Ava starts to get cranky, signaling the need for a nap, you suggest taking a walk along the nearby park. Charles readily agrees.
A comfortable silence settles between you. You both steal glances at each other, the unspoken attraction hanging heavy in the air. You reach the edge of the park, the familiar beach stretching before you.
“Looks like we're back where it all began.” you blush slightly.
“It does, doesn't it? Funny how things work out.” he smiles.
He stops walking, turning to face you. Ava lets out a whimper in her sleep, prompting Charles to gently bounce her in his arms.
“This was... so nice, I mean, this sweet afternoon and last week at the beach, it's very... Unexpected, but very good.” He says quietly with a smile on his face.
You meet his gaze, your heart fluttering in your chest.
You smiled. “I also liked it! Ava's such a sweetheart, and you seem like... a good guy, a really good and nice guy.”
He smiles back, a genuine warmth radiating from his eyes.
“I, uh... I was wondering if maybe, sometime next week, you'd like to have dinner? Just the two of us, after Ava's asleep?” He says with a bit of hesitation.
Your stomach does a nervous flip-flop, but a wide smile stretches across your face.
“I'd like that very much Charles.”
A wave of relief washes over Charles. He leans forward slightly, his eyes searching yours.
“Great... In that case, how about I give you a proper goodbye this time?” He says with a bit of flirtation in his voice.
Before you can respond, he leans in further, his lips brushing softly against yours. The kiss is brief, sweet, and filled with unspoken promise.
Ava lets out a startled gurgle, breaking the spell. Charles pulls back with a laugh, a blush creeping up his neck.
“Looks like our little chaperone wants to get home.” he chuckles and blushes.
“Seems that way.” you giggled while blushing.
He walks you back to your car, Ava snuggled contentedly against his chest.
“Text me when you get home, so I know you made it safe. And maybe, just maybe, you can tell me what your favorite dinner is.” He says while blushing a little.
You laugh a little bit. “Don't worry, you'll be very well fed.”
He smiles, a hint of something deeper lingering in his gaze. You wave goodbye as he drives away with Ava, a warmth spreading through your chest. The unexpected encounter at the beach has blossomed into something exciting, and as you watch the sun disappear over the horizon, you can't wait to see where this new path might lead.

Puppydog Kisses
Tumblr media
This is a second Part to the Christmas themed trio this one being for @slaasherslut. Merry early holidays to you girly girl. I love both you and Teeth like sisters. 💋
Tumblr media
We return to our narrator, petting a small gray cat on her lap and sipping a mug of coffee. Pinstripe finally spots us. "Well. We'll leave Ellie and Vinny on their ride, let's check on Lester and Ava shall we?" She sets one book down on the table for another. "The human personification of a raccoon often brings things home that makes him think of his lovely lady. But what happens when he can't find anything for her for Christmas? Well, Lester is a rather gentle soul and the universe often has a way of paying forward for good selfless deeds. Let's see what it has in store for him…."
Lester had driven into town while Ava had been asleep on the couch with Jonesy. The brown eyed hunter just didn't have the heart to wake them up to take them into town and left a note instead.
'Ran into town for supplies. Text me when you wake up. Luv ya sweetpea!' -Lester
Getting into his car and warming up the cabin he took off on to the road and into town. The tree the pair had chopped down themselves and decorated was missing more tinsel and lights.
Six months and Ava had been his Angel. He was so lucky to have her in his life, he had taught her how to hunt, she sang him the most beautiful songs and made the most amazing love to each other. She was his lady. A lady he couldn't wait to spend Christmas with, but still hadn't come up with a present for her.
Snow started falling as he parked and hopped out heading inside to get what he needed.
Exiting the store he heard puppies crying in a box outside snow covering them as they howled and shivered. The wind was cold and bitter, they would surely die if he didn't do something.
"s'okay….I gotcha. Let's go find you guys someplace warm." He placed the box of hungry pups in the passenger's seat and looked around town. While at a stoplight, he tried to figure out what kind of puppies they wer
Lester lit up finding the cute coffee shop that Ava and the girls loved to frequent when they went into town together for a day. Lester brought the box inside, explained to the staff and was more than happy to take the pups off his hands and he sat down for a coffee keeping himself warm. His mind wandered back to the pups and how nice it would to have Jonesy be a big sister. Eyes wandering back to the box, he knelt down next to the basket the pups had been placed in and scooped the smallest one out gently, wrapping it up in his scarf to keep the little one warm.
Knowing he had done a good deed in helping the pups survive, the hunter headed home to his lady.
Lester drove and parked in his forest made pathway and made sure the puppy was okay the adorable blue eyed pup was asleep in Lester's arms as he went inside as the snow and wind picked up again. Christmas music drifted gently from Ava's Bluetooth speakers around the house.
He found she was still asleep with Jonesy. His heart melted at the fact that she loved his dog as much as he did.
The blonde guitarist snorted awake from the couch, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes feeling her lovers presence back in the cabin.
"This little sweetheart hitched a ride with me all the way home…"
The guitarist squealed, gently holding the tiny pup.
"What do we call him?"
Ava was tearing up. "Hank."
"That's a great name sweetpea." Lester kissed his girlfriends forehead and wipes away her tears. "Jonesy…..lookit, you got yourself a baby brother!" Jonesy took to the new pup and licked his head, the pup whining about needing food. Ava had gotten some of the leftover milk substitute from when Salem was a kitten. Lester watched as Ava fed the new puppy. She was gonna be a great mom one day.

Shopping For Baby Clothes
Plot: Ava goes shopping for baby clothes with her aunt Damaris, Ella, Jasper’s mom Maria, and Jean
A short lil fic I started a while ago, and just now finished lol
Hope y'all like it c:
(pls lmk if any of ur ocs are ooc, ty <3)
Ava stood in the middle of the baby section at a local department store, and watching the endless rows of infant clothes made her feel excited and terrified all at once. The idea that she was suddenly going to be a mom had already sunk in for nearly four months now, but the uncertainty of it all still hadn’t left her mind.
Luckily she wasn’t alone, as her aunt Damaris made sure to accompany her during such a big moment in her life, but Jasper must have told his mom, Maria, because she insisted on also coming with her (“It’s my grandchild after all!” she had said), which then Ella tagged along as well, because she wanted to pick out the best clothes for her unborn baby cousin, and lastly Jean got word of it, and was quite upset at Ava that she wasn’t the first person she thought of bringing along, but was still very excited to join.
And there she was, surrounded by them talking over one another about which onesie was the cutest for her future baby, which was both funny and overwhelming.
“Listen, I’ve been through this before,” Maria told Damaris, who was holding a cute Stitch onesie. “And I’m telling you that’s no good!”
“But it’s so cute!” Damaris insisted, holding up the onesie to her face.
“It’s not warm enough,” Maria explained. “Plus, it’s gonna be such a hassle when it’s time to change the baby’s diaper, I can already tell!”
Damaris sucked her teeth as she placed the onesie back on the rack, when across from them Ella let out an ear-piercing squeal.
“Oh my goodness, look at this!”
She brandished a tiny tuxedo one-piece over the clothing rack, which was met with a chorus of “awws”.
“He’ll look like such a business man in that!” she added.
“Oh my goodness, that is adorable!” cried Jean, taking the little tux from Ella and showing it to Ava. “What do you think?”
“It’s cute.” she smiled, half-heartedly, but Jean took notice.
“Hey, is everything ok? Are you feeling alright?”
At that moment, everyone directed their attention towards Ava as they all rushed over to her, looking just as concerned as the next person, and asking one question after the other.
“I’m fine, I’m fine!” Ava chuckled, raising her hands up in defense. “Really, I am!”
Maria broke away from the rest, and placed her hand on Ava’s shoulder. The look in her eyes was of concern, but also with a twinge of experience, as though she was reliving her moments as a new mom, and with that look alone made Ava feel comforted, but also heightened her emotional imbalance.
Tears already began to swell in her eyes as Maria lightly squeezed her shoulder.
“Really, I’m fine,” Ava repeated, but the crack in her voice betrayed her. “I’m loving all of this—I guess I’m just…I don’t know, nervous?”
Maria simply nodded, and took a hold of her hands, while Ava was already beginning to sob.
“I just…everything feels like it’s happening so fast,” she explained. “And I can’t help but think, like—what if I’ll be a bad mom? What if I mess things up, or–or–”
Another sob left her lips, but Maria pulled her into a comforting hug, soothing her until she managed to catch her breath.
“I understand how you feel,” she said. “I felt the same way when I had Jasper, everything felt weird and confusing, I felt unsure of everything…
“But do know that it gets better,” she continued. “Especially when you have people that are there to support you, I don’t know where I’d be without the support of my family.”
Ava looked at Maria, who was bearing a warm smile, then turned to the others who all had the same expression, and for once since arriving at the department store, she felt at ease.
“You know we’re all here for you.” she added.
“Yeah.” Ava nodded, wiping the tears from her face.
And with another light squeeze from Maria, she escorted Ava back to the group, who continued to reassure Ava that they had her back. Soon, they all continued to browse through more baby clothes, and debate on which one was the cutest.

Mark sighed as he looked out the window for the first time since the night before. Snow was beginning to gather on the window sill, already at least three feet high, and his heart sank.
He turned from the window, eyes falling on Ava still fast asleep in bed. The corner of his mouth turned up into a small smile as he made his way over to her and kissed her forehead. When she didn’t stir, his smile grew. They had stayed up late the night before and it looked like that was going to work in his favor.
Still, as he walked down the hall towards the kitchen, his mind raced. They had been supposed to have a party that evening. All of their friends and family, even friends they had made in the community, had RSVP'd. She’d been so excited.
Sure, they had been warned about the storm. However, no one could have predicted the way snow had fallen over the last day or so. Nor how much would fall over the course of the current day. Now, as he watched the snow fall out the patio window, his only worry was getting everything done before she woke because he had no plans of letting the day go to waste.
Mark headed to the linen closet that was at the end of the hallway, just before the living room. He grabbed a few sheets and some soft cozy blankets Ava kept folded neatly inside. He dropped those onto the living room floor before heading out to the garage in search of the fairy lights he knew she’d once liked so much.
He quietly shuffled through the organized storage bins that were stacked upon each other, successfully finding the fairy lights along with a few stuffies he had made her put away to make room for himself on their bed. He’d taken out only a few of the dozens she’d had, but he knew which few would excite her the most at the sight of them.
Now with his arms full he made his way back to the living room and dropped the lights and stuffies on the couch just before making his way back over to the sheets and blankets piled on the floor, picking them up and quietly shaking them open.
He spread the first sheet along the floor, just before their television. Then, draped the second one on top of the television, pinning a few sections up amongst their living space to create a tent. Third, to decorate, he grabbed the soft cozy blankets and laid a few on the sheet before their television. Finally, he used the last one to cover the entrance to the tent. After, he grabbed the stuffies and propped them up along the inside of the tent before finalizing the space with the fairy lights that he draped along the television frame.
Once he’d finished setting up, he took a step back and nodded confidently at the space he’d created for Ava. He was going to wake her up and surprise her soon, but first he wanted to make a few snacks for her; knowing she’d be hungry.
Mark made his way to their kitchen and grabbed a sheet pan. Walking to the fridge and pantry, he gathered the ingredients to make one of Ava’s favorite snacks; cheesy nachos. He laid her favorite tortilla chips evenly on the pan before covering it in her favorite cheese. He placed it in the heated oven for a few minutes to melt together. In the meantime, he’d checked the freezer to make sure her favorite ice cream was there, knowing she’d like it for desert. He walked back to the oven eyeing the nachos until he felt the cheese had melted perfectly, just the way Ava had liked them. He pulled them out, plated them and carried them back to the tent along with Ava's favorite juice boxes.
When Mark stood back up, he sighed in relief, happy with how everything had turned out. Now it was time to go wake Ava and surprise her.
He crept back down the hallway towards their bedroom and was pleased to find her still curled under the blankets. He made his way over to her and knelt, fingers coming to trace over the soft skin of her cheek gently.
“Ava, my love, it’s time to get up.”
She let out a little huff, followed by a whine as she pulled the blanket up to her chin. Mark chuckled, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
“It’s your birthday, little one. I know the snow ruined our plans but don’t worry, I’ve got a surprise for you.”
That seemed to peak her interest as one eye slowly opened, looking up at him.
“A surprise?”
He nodded and smiled.
“That’s right, baby girl. But you have to get up for me.”
Ava didn’t need to be told twice as she pulled the covers back and swung her feet to stand.
“I’m up, daddy.” She stood and smiled, leaning forward to kiss his cheek.
“I see that.” He chuckled. “Why don’t you go potty, brush your teeth, and change then meet me right here? We’ll go down together.”
Ava nodded, humming a little as she walked to the bathroom to do her morning routine. She couldn’t help but notice it was later than she usually slept in, almost lunch time, but that could be because they stayed up late the night before. Once she was done and changed, she made her way back over to the bed.
Mark stood and pulled her to him, kissing her gently.
“Ready?”
Ava nodded, smile so wide he was concerned it would get stuck that way.
He took her hand and led her from their room, back down the hall. When they had almost reached the living room he stopped and stood in front of her, blocking her view.
“Now, I know it isn’t what we thought it would be but the snow is a lot worse. I hope you like it, my sweet Peach.”
Mark smiled and stepped to the side, letting Ava see their ‘movie theatre’ in all its glory. He waited nervously, watching her reaction as she took it all in.
Ava let out a squeal as her eyes roamed around the room from the sheets and blankets so meticulously placed to the food prepared with all his love. It was enough to bring a tear to her eye as she turned to face the man many knew for his badassery. Tears filled her eyes as she wrapped her tiny arms around the large man.
“This is perfect, daddy! Just you and I?” She looked up at him with wide, sparkling eyes and he couldn't help but smile.
“That’s right, little one. You, me, and all your favorites. I even got a few friends down from storage to join us.”
Ava hugged him tighter before rushing over to the entrance and sinking down on the blankets. She looked up at Mark and patted the spot beside her.
“Come on, daddy! Before the chips get cold.”
Thus it began. They spend hours under the blankets, Ava relaxed in Mark’s arms as they worked their way through her favorite movies. They saved the best for last, of course, and Ava couldn’t help but think how lucky she was as the opening credits began; her mind now somewhere completely different from the movie.
She leaned towards him suddenly, her lips pressing to his much harder than usual. Mark was taken back at first before he returned the kiss. Ava scrambled into his lap, body pressing against his.
He groaned as his hands landed on her ass, patting gently.
“So eager, babygirl.” He chuckled gently and bit his lip, trying to keep his excitement from growing. “Slow down. We have all the time in the world.”
Ava shook her head and licked her lips.
“I don’t want to slow down, daddy.”
As if to emphasise her words, she ground her hips down onto his and pouted. Mark couldn’t help as his eyes darken, tongue darting out to run along his dry lips as his mind rushed to process what she was saying.
“Don’t play with me, Peaches. You know daddy doesn’t like it when you pay like that.”
Ava couldn’t help but giggle as she booped his nose.
“Not playing, daddy. I’m ready.”
Mark growled before rolling them, his large frame now pinning her much smaller one to the blankets.
“You don’t know what you’re saying, Peaches. Your first time should be special,,, not in a tent in t-”
“This is special, daddy!”
Her inner brat shone through for a split second but she wasn’t worried. He needed to understand that this, this, was deeper than the movie day.
“This is what I want.”
Her voice softened as she lifted her hips off the ground to meet his. A small moan passed her lips as the contact sent a jolt of electricity through them. “Please.”
Mark let out a shuddering breath as he nodded and captured her lips with his. He moved deliberately, tongue stroking over her lips before sliding past. Once inside, he took his time to explore every inch of her mouth. His hands moved gently under her shit, over the skin of her sides and up to cup her breasts. They were free under the cotton of her shirt and his fingers slowly rolled the tender flesh of her nipples.
He swallowed the gentle mewl she gave him, his own growl causing a shiver to go down her spine. Her hands moved to the hem of his shirt, fingers gripping at the material.
“Off.”
He chuckled, but pulled away long enough to remove the offending fabric. Once it fell to the floor, his hands were back on her shirt, pushing it up as he leant to press a kiss to her stomach.
“So soft, babygirl.” He murmured against the skin as his hands pushed the fabric higher, lips following suit before dropping the shirt to the side. “So smooth and receptive for me.”
Mark’s lips moved up the valley between her breasts and over her collar bone. His hands slid down to her shorts, pushing them down, around her ankles then off to join their shirts.
“Look at you,” Mark shook his head, eyeing her with adoration as he removed his own shorts. “How did I get a girl like you.”
He covered her again, chest to chest as his hands slid up her thighs. They moved higher, over her navel, to her breasts before sliding back town to cup her ass. He squeezed slowly, testing the flesh and the way it moved in his hands. His mouth moved over her neck, to the hollow of her ear and back; leaving little nips and the tingles they created in his wake.
Ava moaned under him. Her hands roamed his back, nails digging into the skin when he hit a sensitive spot. Her voice grew higher and higher as he continued to worship her, everywhere but where she needed him most.
Mark took his time, moving down to pay attention to each breast. His tongue slid around each nipple, teasing and working them into little buds as his fingers dipped into the waistline of her panties. He looked up at her as his lips once again moved down her stomach. He nudged her legs apart, holding them in a comfortable place with his large palms.
Their eyes locked as his mouth lowered, the sudden warmth making her jump against him. He groaned as his tongue darted out, licking a path from the base of her folds, through them, to her clit. Once there, he closed his mouth around the sensitive bud and sucked gently. The response he elicited was music to his ears.
Ava couldn’t help but grab his hair and pull him back up. As much as she was enjoying what he was doing, she needed more.
“Please, daddy, I need more.”
Mark groaned but nodded. He had wanted to taste her a little more but there would be time for that later. Right now, he needed her as much as she needed him.
He moved back and made quick work of his boxer briefs, tossing them on the, now complete, clothes pile on the floor. He covered her again, cock pressing against her entrance as he placed his hands on either side of her head.
“You let me know if it’s too much, okay?”
She giggled again and nodded, biting her lip.
“I’m not going to break, and I want this.”
Mark smiled gently before rolling his hips forward. Inch by inch he filled her, watching her face for any sign that they needed to stop. Once fully sheathed, he waited, giving her a few moments to adjust as he whispered sweetly in her ear.
Ava dug her nails into his shoulder, the skin growing angry and red under them but he didn’t care. After a few moments, she let out a small gasp. Her hips rose slightly, testing the feel before she grew more bold.
She moaned loudly, hips moving against his. Mark continued to watch her face, hips rolling to pull out and plunge back into her.
Over and over again he drove her closer to the edge. Just when she was ready to crash he would stop, then do it again.
Ava’s cries grew louder as her voice began to quiver. Her toes curled, nails dig deeper, no longer caring if they punctured the skin. Mark drove his his into her again, stilling as they both came. Her sight went white as waves of pleasure crashed through her. Mark groaned against her neck, his cock pulsing as jet after jet filled her.
They laid there for a few moments, but it felt like forever, basking in their pleasure. Mark smiled as he rolled carefully beside her and gathered her in his arms. Their chests rose gently together, up and down, up and down. Ave couldn’t help but smile as she looked up at him.
“Can we do that again? But in our bed?”
Ya’ll I adore this one so much. It’s a lot softer than what I normally right and I stressed over that for a very long time. But I’m very pleased with how it came out. Also, I owe Nat a HUGE thank you for all her help on it. ❤️
Much love, Rose xx

My Favorite Girls (Becky Lynch x Reader)
Tumblr media
@little-smurf Request:  Can I please request a Becky Lynch/reader where the reader is John cenas best friend and stone colds daughter but she has a little girl?
“BEEEEEE! BEEEEEE!”
Becky grins at the familiar squeak, opening her arms so your 2-year-old little girl can jump into her arms.
“Ders my favorite girl.” Becky smiles, kissing Ava’s cheek, the little Y/E/C orbed girl giggling.
“Where’s yer mama?” She asks, Ava pointing a tiny finger down the hall.
“Ava Marie?!” You call out, smiling when you round the corner and see her in Becky’s arms.
“I should’ve known.” You grin as Ava rambles, the little girl saying words neither of you can understand.
“She always knows where I’m at before I do.” Becky grins, smiling as Ava plays with a strand of her red hair.
You watch with a grin, your heart swelling in your chest as Becky playfully peppers Ava’s cheek with kisses.
“Beeeeeeee!” She wiggles in her hold, the Irishwoman grinning as she turns your way.
“So ow’s yer dad?” She asks and you snort.
“I forgot the last time you saw him was when the two of you got drunk in the ring.” You shake your head as Ava snuggles into Becky’s chest.
“I wasn’t drunk...” Becky scoffs remembers as she and Stone Cold marched around the ring, beers in hand.
Your brows arch as your eyes narrow, locking with Becky’s.
“Fine. Maybe a little.”
You grin.
“He’s alright, just working on his ranch, as usual.” You smile as you tuck a strand of hair behind Ava’s tiny ear, the little girl’s eyelids fluttering.
“Someone had a long day.” Becky smiles, but when she tries to pass her back to you, Ava whines, stiffening in Becky’s hold.
You shake your head, grinning.
“Looks like you’re coming with us again.” You shrug, the woman snorting as she looks down at Ava, the little girl’s Y/E/C orbs locking with her brown orbs.
“Let’s go cuddle bug.”
You glance over your shoulder at the two, the butterflies in your stomach flapping their wings in elation.
Being with Becky Lynch made your heart soar, you wanted nothing more than to be with her in a way that was MORE than friendship, but wanting something and seeking it were two different things entirely.
You jump at the feel of Becky’s hand on your back, the woman’s brows knitted in confusion.
“Ya alright?” She asks and you nod, a smile stretching across your face as your eyes dart from Ava, to Becky and back.
“Yeah, more than alright.”
Becky nods, eyes on your back as you turn around and make your way down the hallway.
The former Raw Women’s Champion sighs.
“I’m opelessly in love wit yer mother.” She whispers, unaware that Ava Marie is far from asleep.
                                                         ***
Ava Marie had made it a habit of refusing to let Becky go, the woman ultimately ending up in your hotel room with the two of you.
It wasn’t ideal, but you didn’t want Ava anywhere else than by your side.
“ONNNNNNN!”
You jump, pulled out of your trance by Ava’s squeal, the little girl sprinting towards your best friend, the one and only John Cena.
“Look who it is!” John throws Ava into the air, the little girl giggling as she hugs him tightly.
You grin, following suit, throwing your arms around the man who gives both you and Ava a big squeeze.
“How are my two favorite girls?” Your best friend grins, Ava again rambling as John nods along, a grin on his face.
“Your favorite?” You ask, the man nodding.
“Of course! I mean we ARE best friends!” He yells and you nod, shaking your head at his antics.
“Well, look who it is.”
The three of you turn towards Becky, the little girl in John’s arms squealing at the sight of her ‘Bee.’
“Look who it is, the GOAT, THE MAN, BECKY LYNCHHHHHHHHHHH!” John says dramatically, Ava giggling as she wiggles in his hold.
“BEEEEEE!”
John gasps, hugging Ava closer.
“I thought you were Uncle John’s!?” He scoffs, the little girl burying her nose in the crook of his neck.
“Unc On...” She snuggles into his hold, her eyes fluttering shut before she wiggles in his hold. “AND BEEEEE!”
Becky shakes her head, slipping an arm around your middle, a grin stretching across as you lean your head on her shoulder.
The butterflies in her stomach again fluttering their wings.
“Looks like we’re in competition AGAIN, Man.” John smirks, Becky’s brows arching.
“Oh, I’m always ready fer a challenge Cena.”
“Bring it on.”
You slap your hand to your forehead, playfully glaring at your daughter.
“See what you did?” You ask, and she giggles.
“Westle!” She claps her hands, the two smirking as John hands you Ava, moments later Becky has him in a choke hold on the backstage floor.
“Tap!” She yells, John eventually getting her in a hold of his own.
You turn to Ava, the little girl watching the two fight, playfully of course.
“STOP!” She yells, the two ceasing their playful fighting in favor of jumping to their feet.
“Wats wrong love?” Becky asks, the little girl opening her arms as wide as she can.
“Wuve Bee and Unc On.”
The two smile as they wrap their arms around both you and your daughter.
“I’m still her favorite.” John whispers, Becky letting out a snort.
“You wish Cena.”
                                                         ***
“Mommy!” Ava pouts, as she gives your sleeping form a shake, your eyes widening.
“What’s wrong honey?” You rasp tiredly, wiping at your eyes, frowning when you see tears in her eyes.
“Miss Beeeeee....” She sniffles, snuggling into your chest and you smile, holding her close.
“Want me to get Bee?” You ask and she nods, bottom lip trembling.
You take a deep breath, searching for your phone.
It rings only once before Becky answers, the woman’s voice raspy with sleep.
“Are ya alright?” She asks, yawning and you smile.
“Someone misses you...”
“Beeeeee!” Ava cries and Becky sits up abruptly.
“I’ll be der in a minute.”
                                                         ***
Becky is there in less than 5 minutes, the woman slipping into your bed in less than 6.
Ava snuggles up between the two of you, a tiny smile on her face as you and Becky wrap your arms around her, Becky’s hand resting on your forearm as hers rests on yours.
You lean over Ava, her head just below your chin, and Becky’s as she follows suit, the sleepy Irishwoman smiling.
“Thanks for coming.” You whisper and Becky nods, yawning.
“Anything fer my girls.” She whispers, your eyes widening as your cheeks flush bright red.
Before you can speak, you realize Becky is fast asleep.
You bite your bottom lip, grinning.
“Night Becky...” You whisper, closing your eyes, soon following Ava and Becky into a deep sleep.
                                                         ***
You wake the following morning with a hum, your face scrunching up as you groan tiredly.
“Mornin’ sunshine.”
Your eyes flash open, a smile stretching across your face as your eyes lock with Becky’s equally sleepy brown orbs.
“Beckyyyyy, noooooo.” You groan, wiggling closer, your hand resting on her hip.
“It’s 10, Y/N.” She laughs, earning only another groan.
“Too early.”
“Nooooo...”
Becky glances down at Ava, the little girl grumbling as she snuggles closer to you.
“Like mother like daughter.” She grins, ducking down to press a kiss to the top of Ava’s head.
Becky’s brown orbs dart around your face, the woman grinning as your nose crinkles.
“I can feel you staring.” You whisper, Becky’s eyes widening as your eyes flutter open and lock with hers.
Becky smiles, her tongue swiping at her lips as she cups your cheek, brushing a strand of hair out of your face.
“I can’t help it.” She whispers, shrugging, her brown orbs darting from your lips to your eyes.
Your heart skips a beat in your chest as you cover her hand with yours, leaning towards her, over Ava.
“What’s on your mind?” You whisper, the Irishwoman’s cheeks flushing pink as she stares intently at your lips.
“I-
You turn your head, kissing her palm and Becky bites her lip, trying to stave off a massive grin.
“I want ta kiss ya...” She confesses, your eyes widening at her confession, your heart swelling beyond capacity as the butterflies in your stomach flap their wings with excitement.
You grin against her palm, turning back towards her, eyes full of nothing but adoration.
“I want you to kiss me.” You whisper, the red-haired woman’s eyes widen.
Slowly the two of you gravitate towards one another, the two of you leaning in, mere inches separating your lips.
The two of you grin as you close the gap between the two of you, your lips meeting in a long overdue, and loving kiss.
Becky’s lips move against yours, a feeling you’re immediately addicted to.
Her lips taste entirely as you’d imagined, a welcoming warmth that you’d always see reflected in her soft brown orbs.
The two of you part, eyes fluttering open at roughly the same time.
Becky leans in, pressing another quick kiss to your lips before holding both you and Ava tightly, the two of you unable to stop smiling.
Becky smiles lovingly down at Ava, kissing the top of her head.
“I love my girls...” She whispers, her eyes widening when she realizes just what she said, her heart in her throat,
“I-I mean-
You cut her off with another kiss, lightly bumping your nose against hers.
“We love you too.”
Becky beams, nuzzling into Ava’s hair, her forehead resting against yours.
She grins.
“Does dis mean I get ta get drunk wit yer dad more often?”
You scoff.
“No, go back to sleep.”

Baby Blues, Chapter 14 (Bryce X MC)
Description: Bryce and MC can handle just about anything. Hopefully, pregnancy and parenting fall into the “just about anything” category.
Preview: Jackie snorted. “Uh… yeah. You’re gonna turn heads regardless of what you wear. Bryce’s jaw is gonna be on the floor no matter what.”
“Isn’t he shopping today, too?” Sienna helped Emily tie the dress’s sash into a bow behind her back.
“Yeah. He recruited his groomsmen and they’re at a shop somewhere. I don’t know if they’re still there.”
Keiki nodded.  “Probably. He sent me an SOS a few minutes ago because he thought he lost one of his groomsmen in the store.”
Previous Chapter
In the following days, they made sure to pay attention to their surroundings. Bryce didn’t trust his parents not to snoop around, and he was determined to keep ties cut with them. He saw to it that they knew he would seek legal action if they showed up at his door or tried to investigate them, which was enough to make them board the next flight back to Hawaii.
They tried to call and text, but their attempts ceased as Bryce refused to answer. Within a few weeks, it was as if they’d faded from his existence once again. He turned his focus to helping Emily plan their wedding and taking care of Ava.
One saturday afternoon a few weeks after sending Bryce’s parents away, Emily walked into the living room with Ava, who had just woken from her nap. “Hey, Keiki, do you want to go to the mall? We can do some shopping and grab something to eat.”
The teen nodded. “Sure.”
Bryce arched a brow, curious. “What am I? Chopped liver?”
“It’s a girl’s outing. Just the three of us.” Emily slipped a sweater and a pair of socks onto Ava and grabbed the diaper bag and the car keys.
Feigning hurt, Bryce kissed her goodbye before she left. Emily led the way to the car and strapped Ava into her carseat before she left their apartment building’s parking lot. She drove to the mall, where she and Keiki made a beeline for a pizza place that they loved.
When they sat at their table, Emily settled Ava in a high chair. The five-month-old huffed in annoyance, wiggling against her restraints for a moment before giving up.
“So, there’s something I want to ask you,” Emily announced after a bite of pizza.
Curious, Keiki glanced at her. “What is it?”
“Do you want to be a bridesmaid?”
The teen’s eyes widened. “Seriously?”
“Seriously. You’re Bryce’s sister. That makes you my family.” Emily nodded, reaching over to take a dirty napkin from Ava.
“Of course I wanna do it.” Keiki smiled. “I remember when I first moved here almost two years ago and you and Bryce were still trying to act like you were ‘just friends’. It was embarrassingly obvious how bad you two had it for each other.”
“I deny nothing.”
“I know I like teasing my brother, but the whole deal got me a cool sister-in-law and the world’s cutest niece.”
“You’re right on both accounts.” Emily grinned as Keiki reached over and tickled Ava’s foot. Ava squealed with giggles, kicking her feet.
“Do you think you’ll be able to have Ava be in the wedding?”
“If she’s walking, maybe. I’d love to see her as a flower girl even if she’s not steady by then. I mean, she won’t remember it, and she’ll probably just dump all the flowers out in one spot and put the basket on her head, but it’s the cuteness that counts.
“She’ll be adorable.”
After lunch, Emily loaded Ava back into her shoulder. They spent the next two hours browsing store after store, loading the compartment under Ava’s stroller with merchandise.
Their last stop was the children’s store, where Emily could never resist buying things she knew Ava would just outgrow.
“Didn’t you pick lavender for your wedding colors?” Keiki held up a tiny lavender dress with a fluffy skirt. “Cause this would look really cute on Ava.”
Emily gasped. “It’s perfect. And she’ll grow into it by February.”
She took the dress and showed it to Ava, who looked at it with mild interest, her eyes drawn to the large bow attached to it.
“Look here. You’ll wear this to the wedding. It may end up covered in baby food and poop, but no judgment here.” Emily added the dress to her growing pile of purchases.
Once they couldn’t carry any more stuff, they went home. The next morning, Emily tracked down Sienna at work, unable to resist grinning ear to ear when she found her in the lounge.
“Hey, Em!”
“I have something really important to talk to you about.” Emily rocked back and forth on her feet, her hands concealed behind her back.
Sienna chuckled at the mischievous glint in her friend’s eye. “What is it?”
With a flourish, Emily revealed a ring box. She knelt down, opening the box with a flourish. Sienna’s hands flew to her mouth to contain a laugh at the sight of a pinky ring with a dolphin charm.
“Sienna Trinh, my best friend, would you be not only my bridesmaid, but also my maid of honor?”
Giggling, Sienna accepted the ring and slid it onto her finger. When Emily stood up, she gave her  a tight hug. “Of course!”
“Good, cause that was really dorky of me and I’d be really embarrassed if it didn’t work.” Emily grinned and returned her hug. “We’ll go shopping next weekend.”
XXXXXX
As scheduled, Emily met her friends a week later for a day of dress shopping. Her heart swelled with excitement as she led the way into the bridal shop.
Her eyes widened as she took in the dresses that lined every wall. “Wow…”
“Do you know what kind you want?” Sienna asked.
“Nope.” Emily shook her head. “I was up until two looking at dresses, but my wish list just kept getting longer. I decided I’d just try on everything I like and go with what feels right.”
She wandered through the aisles, picking up dresses and draping them over her arm. Within minutes, she could barely carry her selections.  Her friends followed her to the changing area, where she dumped the armload of dresses into an empty stall.
“You guys have to judge every one of them honestly!” she called out, toeing off her shoes and picking up the first dress. It was long-sleeved and covered in dainty lace, which gave her some sense of alarm as she stepped into it.  “I need a dressing room helper.”
“On it!” Sienna joined her in the fitting room and fastened buttons running down the back of the dress. Emily stepped out of the stall to show everyone.
“This one’s kinda itchy,” she admitted, tugging at the sleeves.
“What else do you have?”
Ducking back into the stall, Emily peeled off the itchy dress and grabbed the next one. She stepped into it and let Sienna help her with the buttons. “These sleeves are way puffier than I thought they would be,” she announced as she emerged. “I thought they’d look cute, but it looks like I’m wearing watermelons for shoulder pads.”
“I won’t argue with you there,” Jackie agreed.  “You look like a quarterback in a dress.”
“Well, that may be a good thing if a rowdy game breaks out in the middle of my wedding.”
Squeezing the comically oversized sleeves through the door, she discarded that dress. She stepped into the next one, tangling her feet in its long train. She gave herself a once-over in the mirror before emerging.
“I actually like this one.” She smoothed a hand over the silky material and fluffed the long skirt.
“It looks great on you, but don’t you think the train is a little long for you?” Aurora gestured to the fabric gathered around Emily’s feet.
Emily arched a brow. “What do you mean?” She tried to twirl around, only to entange her feet in the fabric and lose her balance. She lurched forward, almost face planting into the door of the changing stall.
“That’s what I mean.”
“Okay, so I’m a little bit accident prone. I can learn how to not trip over stuff by February!” Emily gathered the train into her arms and lifted it. It caught beneath her foot, making a ripping sound that made her stomach drop.
Sienna’s eyes widened. “Did you just…?”
“It’s not bad!” Emily’s eyes searched the material, examining the damage. “For all we know, that was there! I just made it worse.” She removed the dress off and cast it aside, refusing to look at the price tag.
A saleswoman gave her a sharp frown. “Expect a bill for that repair.”
“...Okay.” Cringing, Emily dug through her pile of dresses until one stood out to her. She slipped into it and studied herself in the mirror, admiring the way the little beads and embroidery caught the light.
Smiling, she stepped out to show everyone. “This is my favorite so far.” She twirled, relieved when the skirt fluttered around her ankles without tripping her, or worse, ripping.
“It looks beautiful.” Sienna grinned. “It’s super pretty.”
“It really is. That one’s my favorite,” Keiki agreed.
Emily smoothed a hand over her stomach, her lips pursing in thought. “The only problem is it shows what’s left of my pregnancy fat. I can’t get rid of it.”
Kyra frowned sharply at her. “Hey, if I can be a bridesmaid with my peach fuzz head, you can wear that dress.”
“You think?”
Jackie snorted.
“I don’t think I wanna know.” Amused, Emily returned her attention to the mirror. “It’s in my budget. I think I just hit the jackpot. Why don’t you guys start looking at bridesmaid dresses?”
As her group dispersed to pick out their dresses, she couldn’t resist admiring herself in the mirror a little longer. A wide grin took over her face as she carefully took the dress off and draped it over her arm.
This was really happening.
Note:  I think this story is going to have about 3-5 more chapters. Next up is Bryce’s day of suit shopping with the boys!

Have any of the Foretellers or Luxu ever called MoM 'dad' or anything close to it? You've referred to them as your kids in the past, so is their relationship with him a father-children one (adopted/father figure/etc) or a mentor one that sometimes blurs into being a parent figure?
--------------------
Master Report – Adopting Ava It seems my mother was right in her sentiment of my ability to take in strays or rather my inability to not take in strays. Since arriving in this world, I have spent the time researching for a way to return to my own timeline, reading multiple libraries worth of content as well as anything the Moggles can be convinced to lend me. Indeed I’ve formed quite a fine working relationship with the Moggles though that may be my decision to share advanced potion recipes from the future. Anyway back to my ability to take in strays which only Riku with his infinite patience and cold hard logic could ever dissuade, It was not a particularly conscious decision on my part, I had just celebrated another birthday by using the kitchen of the local bakery to make a rather nice cake. I headed to the bridge overlooking the river to eat it in peace. I did not react as fast as I could have to what happened next mainly because I had never been a victim of such an audacious daylight robbery before. I gave chase and soon cornered the ambitious thief only to be surprised by the culprit, Clad in scruffy clothes and more than a little undernourished, the thief in question was a small child. She was a tiny little thing and I could tell not proud of her theft despite the fact that she had clearly not been eating right and consistently in a long time, she clearly begrudged the act though not the necessity. Coaxing her out to the nearest park bench we began to talk. The child, emboldened by the cake or more likely the sugar in it told me about her life. Of her life as an orphan and the near squalid conditions of Daybreak Towns orphanage and the uncaring matron to her eventually wandering on the streets. Now had Riku been here he would have likely tried to stop me from my next course of action, had Kairi been here she.. would likely be cheering me on the entire time. Nevertheless, I maintain walking up to that orphanages doors and walking out with the adoption papers for my little Ava was the most righteous act I have performed in my entire life. I expected the actual process to be much harder but I am known in this town as a respected figure in good standing with the Moggles Guild and a skilled warrior both so that very likely sped up the process.
--------------------
Master Report – Adopting Ira, Gula and Invi In my own time, they talk about The Age of Fairytales like the entire era was a utopian ideal, it was not, I cannot stress that fact enough. Thankfully neither Ira, Gula or Invi remember their families and perhaps that is for the best, at most they know that their traveling convoy was ambushed by monsters on the roads between settlements, not an uncommon tale, unfortunately. That is enough, I see no need to put them through more senseless trauma in explaining the whys and hows. For the first time in a while, I used my Keyblade to travel between the settlements looking for any living relations who could take them in, I was unsuccessful. I already knew the deplorable state of Daybreak Town’s orphanage, my daughter Ava still wakes with nightmares, and knew they would not get the care and support they desperately needed there, at least this way I don't have to bother with the paperwork though and Ava will be pleased to have some playmates.
--------------------
Master Report – Adopting Aced and Luxu I get the feeling that at this point even Kairi would be agreeing with Riku on the issue of picking up strays. Two boys both recent arrivals in Daybreak Town, were left behind when one of the trading caravans left without them, thinking it an accident I used the Keyblade to catch up with the group and left them more than a little infuriated by what I found. The boys had been left behind intentionally, Luxu’s parents who had been members of the caravan had perished recently leaving him as an extra mouth to feed with no one who cared for him. They called him an extra expense, I call them scum. Now, while leaving Luxu behind in an established settlement safe from monsters is preferable to abandoning him in the wilderness their next action with Aced was reprehensible. Aced was left behind because he was loud. He is a six-year-old child. Rambunctious and happy as can be child and they left him behind because they wanted to save money on monster repellent. ‘They’ being his father, grandparents and older sisters. I don't even have the words for how furious I was then I heard that. I told them to leave Daybreak Town and never return, else I would deal with them. As far as Aced and Luxu know the entire caravan left them behind by mistake and was set upon by monsters leaving no survivors. They are mine now.
--------------------
The Master of Masters sighed exaggeratedly placing his hands on his hips “I seem to have lost something” He announced loudly, quiet giggling alerted him to the location of one hider. “Oh Ava, Invi, Ira, Aced, Gula, Luxu” The Master of Masters called “Where have you all gone?” More giggling “Sshh, quiet Gula! Papa’s gonna find us!” The Master of Masters grinned and dramatically swooned in place with faux woe “Its so sad, without my children I fear allll those warm chocolate cookies I baked might just go to waste” The Master of Masters paused for dramatic effect “I suppose I’ll just eat them all myself then” Aced barrelled into his legs from behind with a warcry of protest to the dismay of the other hiders, The Master of Master reached around as he stumbled and fell and grabbed the squealing child mercilessly tickling him into gales of laughter. “Oh Lookie Lookie I found a ticklish little bear cub, Looks like I’m not going to be eating the cookies alone after all” The Master of Masters stood up putting the pouting Aced under one arm like a bag and noogieing him gently “Let us go cub, for chocolate awaits!” The Master of Masters paused and looked closely at the couch cushions reaching a hand in to pull out “Ohhh look cub, a snake hatchling, how adorable!” The Masters cooed Invi blushed as she was also picked up. The Master of Masters yelped as Gula sprinted out of cover from under a table and leapt onto his back scaling his way up until he sat on the Master of Masters shoulders gripping his hair like reigns to keep his balance “I gotcha papa!” Gula announced triumphantly “Yes, you did little my little sky leopard” Gula pouted The Master of Master paused then had a idea “I'm so very short, can you see any unicorns or foxes running about from up there, Little Sky leopard?” Indignant cries of “Papa!” and “That's Cheating!” rang around the room and two missiles collided with both his legs Ava staring up from his left with a pout and Ira looking up reproachfully from the right the Master of Masters laughed “Oh dear, I must have forgotten the rules, there's only one thing for it” The children looked confused before their expressions brightened to glee as the Master of Masters announced seriously “Cookies and milk for all and a bedtime story!” the children cheered loudly “Wait? Where's Luxu” asked Ava confused The Master of Master paused thoughtfully then gasped as though stunned “It seems Luxu won at hide and seek that means he gets to choose the bedtime story this time” The five children groaned as the Master of Masters chuckled and lowered the children carefully to the ground “Now if I go get the cookies and milk ready will you find Luxu and tell him to pick a story?” Five sets of eyes shone happily “Yes Papa!” Chorused the group before they scattered around the room looking for Luxu, The Master of Masters chuckled warmly and went to the kitchen wondering what story Luxu would pick this time.
This was way before MoM!Sora started to get visions of the future, at this point in time the Foretellers and Luxu are teeny tiny tots and toddlers (I am leaving the ages ambiguous) This is my headcanon territory in this AU and Nomura can rip it from my cold dead fingers. As far as MoM!Sora is concerned they're his babies and he’ll happily murder anyone who suggests otherwise which make what's about to happen in the future all the more heartbreaking.
Suffice to say I was in a big mood when I wrote this.

Mum!Ava, Mum!Sarah; Sarah and Vivi decorate for Christmas
***
"Mama! This one next!"
Sarah smiled as Vivi proudly held out a shiny silver bauble, which had a heart made out of her thumb prints in sparkly purple paint. It was one she made during craft time on the peds ward, since she had been admitted over the holidays the year before. She had been almost completely bedridden, endocarditis wrecking havoc on her circulatory system, but the four year old had been adamant that she wanted to make something for Christmas. The child-life specialist brought the supplies to her room one day and, though she ended up doing a lot of it because Vivi was too heavily medicated to be super alert, they made the bauble together. Sarah and Ava treasured the thing, to them it showed their baby’s strength and excitement for the holidays even while she was in pain.
"This one is pretty," Sarah replied as she hung it on the tree, letting Vivi instruct her where to put it. The five year old was perched on her purple beanbag chair, a bag of ornaments in her lap. She had gotten too excited moments before and started wheezing a bit, so Sarah insisted she sit down or she would need to go on oxygen until her lungs caught up. She was still bouncing in her seat though, too excited about Christmas to sit still like her mother instructed.
"Mama?"
"What’s up, honeybee?" Sarah replied, fixing a piece of tinsel on the tree that was slipping. She turned to look at her daughter, whose inquisitive dark eyes were watching her carefully.
"You excited?" Vivi asked softly, "Christmas time!"
Sarah smiled, nodding immediately, "I’m always excited for Christmas with Vivi and mummy, of course."
In all honesty, Sarah used to hate Christmas. Her parents’ divorce really put a wrench in any enjoyment she took out of the holiday. All that ever happened were fights and manipulation, so she had rarely had a good memory to associate with Christmas. Even in med school, she didn’t go home to visit family because her mother never invited her and her father cut contact for years. She had always spent Christmas alone, until she met Ava.
Well, in her fourth year of med school Maggie invited her over on Christmas Eve. It was sweet of her and Sarah felt so welcome and loved. They enjoyed hot cocoa and Maggie even surprised Sarah with a new stethoscope, which she shyly accepted and was endlessly grateful about the thoughtful gift. That was the first real good memory she had of Christmas.
Ava, on the other hand, loved Christmas; which was amusing to say the least. She always adopted this childlike joy the second halloween passed because it meant that Christmas was right around the corner. She did hate the snow, something she had yet to get used to in Chicago, but it didn’t bother her in the grand scheme of things. When she adopted Vivi, she was so excited to develop family traditions with her. That excitement only grew when her and Sarah started dating, now three years later and the three of them had their own little family and Christmas felt so much more joyful.
So maybe Sarah didn’t mind Christmas now, especially not when Vivienne and Ava’s excitement was so contagious.
"We see uncle Crogett ‘n’ uncle Efan?" She asked with hopefully eyes, "For cookie time!"
"I think they’re going to come over tomorrow, baby," Sarah replied as she took another ornament that was held out to her in Vivi’s tiny hand, "What kind of cookies are we making?"
"Gingiebread!"
Sarah laughed, Vivi’s own little dialect was the cutest thing. Despite growing up around Americans, save for her mum, Vivi had adopted Ava’s accent. It was much softer than hers, obviously, but it was still apparent especially as she got older. It was downright adorable in Sarah’s mind because she adored Ava’s accent and Vivi melted her heart every time. It was so sweet to hear their daughter babble away in her little South African accent, especially in that typical kindergarten-student English which involved mashing words together or making up her own.
"Gingerbread? That’s mama’s favourite."
"Vivi knows!" She nodded happily, "Asked mummy if we could make for you!"
Sarah’s heart melted a bit at that, her daughter would never cease to amaze her. She was so little but so observant, knowing exactly what things would make her mothers smile and what they liked the most. She was the sweetest kid and Sarah was so grateful to be in her life and be able to be her mama.
"You’re sweet, Vivvy," Sarah mused as she leaned over to affectionately muss up her light curly hair. She gave her mother a big smile, proudly showing off the missing front tooth she had lost a couple weeks before.
The apartment door opening was immediately distracting, Vivi clamouring to her feet at the sound. She ran across the apartment, even though Sarah tried to remind her about her lungs; the child was too excited to greet her other mother.
"Mummy!" Vivienne hugged Ava’s leg when she caught up to her, making the surgeon laugh a little. She leaned down and picked up her daughter with ease, giving her a proper hug in greeting.
"Hey, honeybee," she was tired, Sarah could hear it in her voice, but her cheerful attitude never faltered otherwise. Ava didn’t ever want to upset Vivi, even if she has a hard day at work. Those things could be addressed when their daughter went to bed, her worries coaxed out with reassurance and Sarah’s gentle embrace.
"What did you and mama do today?"
"Tree!" Vivi squeals excitedly, pointing in the direction of the living room. With some urging, Ava took the hint and walked in that direction. Sure enough, Sarah was standing beside Ava’s Christmas tree; the thing all decorated and sparkling with rainbow twinkly lights.
"You did all this?" Ava asked with a grin, setting Vivi down because she had begun to wiggle in her arms. Sarah returned her smile, which only grew wider when Ava immediately came over to wrap her in a hug. Ava loved having the house decorated and, though her girlfriend didn’t share that love of the holiday, the excitement on her face was enough for Sarah.
"Vivi wanted to surprise you," Sarah explained, leaning into Ava’s arms without hesitation. Her cheeks warmed when her girlfriend pressed a big kiss to one of them, her words smiled against Sarah’s skin.
"Thank you," she said, "You’re both the best."
Meanwhile, the child in question was digging around in the tote of decorations, her green tutu bunched up as she tried to climb in to reach something. She eventually wiggled back out of the bucket, tiny hands clasped around the golden angel that was supposed to top the tree. Though none of them were religious, the angel had been given to Ava by her parents the year she adopted Vivi and she was rather emotionally attached to it.
"Mummy!" Vivienne exclaimed as she presented the tree topper to her, "Help?"
"What do you say, Vivvy?"
She looked at Sarah briefly and then smiled, "Help, please?"
At that, Ava untangled herself from Sarah, going over to the tree. Vivi loved to be the one to put the angel on the tree and she was always adamant that she do it. She obviously needed help to reach the top but Ava was happy to humour it. Anything to see her baby smile, of course.
"Up?"
Vivi nodded and let Ava pick her up, giggling when she was lifted with ease and safely in her mother’s arms.
"There you go, angel," she said warmly as she held Vivi securely while she stretched to reach the top branch. The pet name made the child giddy, it was one of her favourite terms of endearment to hear Ava say. The way her accent sounded made the word even prettier and Vivi loved Christmas, so she associated the name with pure joy.
Once the angel was securely atop the tree, Vivi turned in Ava’s arms and hugged her. The blonde laughed a little at the sudden affection, kissing the top of her head.
Sarah had watched the whole interaction fondly. She loved seeing both Ava and Vivi so happy, especially when her girlfriend had appeared so tired the past few days. The soft, domestic moment was a much appreciated break from the more hectic parts of life. Sarah realized that this was the kind of thing that made her enjoy Christmas again; as long as she was with her little family, the holiday season just seemed a whole lot sweeter.

George Weasley//Down the path of destruction//Part 1
I was just waking up from my slumber when my brother walked in."Wake up Avalyn you've got a letter!"Cedric shouted. Yes, Cedric Diggory is my brother apparently he's popular in Hogwarts! I just pulled the covers over my head."Okay," I mumbled softly. Once Cedric left I hopped out of bed and opened the letter, It read
ℍ𝕆𝔾𝕎𝔸ℝ𝕋𝕊 𝕊ℂℍ𝕆𝕆𝕃 𝕠𝕗 𝕎𝕀𝕋ℂℍℂℝ𝔸𝔽𝕋 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕎𝕀ℤ𝔸ℝ𝔻ℝ𝕐 ℍ𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕞𝕒𝕤𝕥𝕖𝕣: 𝔸𝕝𝕓𝕦𝕤 𝔻𝕦𝕞𝕓𝕝𝕖𝕕𝕠𝕣𝕖 (𝕆𝕣𝕕𝕖𝕣 𝕠𝕗 𝕄𝕖𝕣𝕝𝕚𝕟, 𝔽𝕚𝕣𝕤𝕥 ℂ𝕝𝕒𝕤𝕤, 𝔾𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕊𝕠𝕣𝕔., ℂ𝕙𝕗. 𝕎𝕒𝕣𝕝𝕠𝕔𝕜, 𝕊𝕦𝕡𝕣𝕖𝕞𝕖 𝕄𝕦𝕘𝕨𝕦𝕞𝕡, 𝕀𝕟𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕟𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟𝕒𝕝 ℂ𝕠𝕟𝕗𝕖𝕕. 𝕠𝕗 𝕎𝕚𝕫𝕒𝕣𝕕𝕤

"Oh my god! I got accepted into Hogwarts, CEDRIC!"I screamed. Then suddenly the door swung open and all my family walked in bright-eyed and bushy-tailed."Congrats Avalyn were both very proud of you!"My dad said patting my back."Wait when do we have to leave?"I asked panicking. Cedric smiled. I had to take a peek at what the date was."TODAY!?"I jumped out of bed and tried to find my case but I couldn't find it."Looking for this?"My dad said picking up a suitcase."Dont worry darling.I've packed it all for you!"He turned to leave."Thanks, Dad, "I smiled.
Time flew past and before you know it we had to go!"Come on Avalyn!"Cedric called from downstairs. Cedric said he would show me where to go because Cedric had been in Hogwarts for 2 years. I hope I'm in Hufflepuff! Wait but what will happen if I'm not?! What if I'm a Slytherin??!!! Oh no, stop it! Of course I'm gonna be a Hufflepuff! I ran downstairs with 2 bags in my hand. I was nearly falling but I just was too excited to care. I reached the bottom of the stairs and saw that my dad was hiding something behind his back."What's behind your back?"I asked very curious.
Dad quickly removed his hand from behind his back and revealed what he had in his hand."Oh my god, it's adorable!"I said squealed. My dad had a tiny white cat in his hand. It was so fluffy you could mistake it for a cloud."Is this mine?"I asked picking up the small kitten."Of course, I wouldn't be getting it for Cedric would I!"My dad laughed. Cedric rolled his eyes giggling."Thank you so much!"I replied kissing my dad cheeks."Well, come on let's get going!"Cedric said running outside and hopping in the car. The journey is not that long it's probably about 10 minutes."Hurry up Dad we might be late!"I said not having a bit of patience in me.
"Okay! Okay, we are here now!"He said laughing. Cedric and I ran out and grabbed a trolley and plopped our bag on it. I look around the train station and see a bunch of muggles and normal train but I can't see one that says Hogwarts Express."Come on Ava we need to go to Platform 9 and 3/4!"Cedric shouted dragging me along. I was eventually dragged between platform 9 and 10."What are we doing here?"I asked confused. Then Cedric just runs into the wall. I can't even explain the fear and horror that I felt. I just trust him and do exactly what he does and run into the wall. It was kinda like you know when your parents say "If he jumped off a bridge would you do it too?"It felt like one of them moments.
I think it worked because I kinda blanked out for a moment but I finally saw Hogwarts express and my was it beautiful. I tried to find Cedric so I was running everywhere. I accidentally bumped into someones trolley causing me to fall over."Oh my god, I'm so sorry!"A boy with short red hair said sticking his arm out."It's okay don't worry I was too busy looking for my brother and not paying attention to my surroundings!"I replied grabbing his hand. I looked up to study his face, He had a bunch of freckles on his face and a friendly smile."Um, I'm Avalyn, "I said coughing to break the awkwardness."I'm George!"He smiled."Oh stop it Georgie lets go!"A boy that looked exactly like him shouted.
I must have hit my head on the wall bad then."Woah Hello there my lady!"The boy said grabbing my hand kissing it. I couldn't help but giggle and his confidence."The names Fred what is the name of the beautiful girl in front of me?"He smirked. George just looked at him and scoffed."My names Avalyn, "I smiled."Well its nic-"Fred was saying but he was interrupted."Avalyn!I've been looking for you for ages, Where have you been!"Cedric said running over."I see you have met my friends Fred and George!"He said smiling."Oh so you're Cedric's sister!"Fred said.
"Well come on there's no time to talk we need to get on the train and you need to find a compartment on the train," He said ushering me along."Wait can I not come in your one?"I asked looking back at him."Of course not!"He laughed like it was obvious. Wow thanks Cedric so nice of you! I hopped on the train and waved to my dad. Great time to find a compartment. Hopefully I can find an empty one so I can avoid the talking to people.

A/N: Merry christmas, beaut! I loved writing this soft dad!ash for you, I hope you enjoy it <3
***
Rosie has been glum for days. Which was most unusual, especially given the time of year.
You, Ashton and her little sister Ava, have tried various things to cheer her up. Nothing seems to have worked, though. No amount of games, movies or hot chocolates have helped to bring a smile to her face.
Yesterday the six-year-old had confessed that she was sad for two reasons:
She misses her friends now that she has no school for two weeks.
    2. The constant rain keeping her indoors doesn’t feel very ‘Christmassy’.
Ashton seemed particularly moved by your daughter’s admission and had lain awake in bed last night trying to think of ways to cheer her up. When you’d woken up this morning, your husband had already left the house. He’d text you to let you know he’d gone shopping and taken Ava with him. Rosie seemed a little disappointed that she hadn’t been invited on the impromptu trip but you had a sneaking suspicion that wherever they’d gone, it was for Rosie's benefit.
Your elder daughter had sat in the big armchair near the window, staring forlornly out into the damp garden until Ashton and Ava had returned. Rosie had perked up a little, noticing that they had a whole load of various sized shopping bags with them.
When asked where they’d been, your three-year-old and your husband simply tapped their noses and asked you to keep Rosie in the living room whilst they set up a surprise.
That had been over two hours ago. During that time, you’ve heard a lot of giggling and what sounds suspiciously like furniture being moved around.
“It sounds like they're having lots of fun.” Rosie sighs, glancing towards the door that leads through to the dining room.
You couldn’t really argue with her. Whatever Ashton and Ava were doing, certainly didn’t sound like work. “Well I’m sure we’ll find out what they’ve been up to soon enough, sweetheart.” You smile, trying to reassure her. “Why don’t we watch another Disney movie while we wait?”
Rosie shrugs, turning her attention back to the window. It’s still stormy outside and large rain droplets trail across the gleaming glass as you watch. “I wish I could play outside.”
“Perhaps we can give uncle Calum a call later, we could all get our wellies on and take Duke for a walk?”
Your daughter seems to cheer up a tiny bit at the prospect of getting see one of her favourite uncles and his little pooch. “Duke likes splashing in the puddles with me.” She giggles, her hazel eyes glimmering brighter than they had for days. “He got very muddy last time, though.”
You’re happy to see Rosie display some semblance of a positive emotion and you smile proudly at her. “I’m sure your Uncle Cal won’t mind that much.”
Rosie giggles as she finally slips off of the armchair in favour of joining you on the sofa. “Will Daddy and Ava come, too?”
“I’m sure they will if they finish whatever they’re up to in the dining room.” You reply, cuddling your little girl close. “I have a bad feeling that it’ll involve me cleaning up a lot of mess afterwards!”
Before rosie can voice any more of her thoughts on her father’s antics, the man in question emerges from the dining room, a proud smile on his handsome face and a giddy looking Ava at his side. “We’re almost ready for you two to see what we’ve been doing!” Ashton announces. “We just have two little things left to do.” He explains, “The first is making lunch, which shouldn’t take me long.”
“What’s the other thing?” You ask suspiciously, slightly concerned about what your husband is planning.
“Well that’s the fun part, isn’t it, Ava?” He asks, glancing down at your youngest daughter.
“Onesies!” Ava yells, bouncing up and down on the balls of her tiny feet, her loose brunette curls tumbling haphazardly around her face.
You exchange a confused glance with Rosie as Ava grabs you both by the hand.
“That’s right.” Ashton chuckles. “You all need to put your onesies on, I’ll join you as soon as I’ve made lunch.” He aims a wink at you before disappearing into the kitchen.
“C’mon!” Ava urges impatiently. “Onesies!”
“But it’s the middle of the day.” Rosie objects, “We can’t put onesies on, we might be going to walk Duke with uncle Cal.”
Ava shakes her head. “No walks! Onesies and fun!” She shrieks before pulling you and Rosie towards the hallway.
“What have you and Daddy been up to, cheeky?” You ask, lifting your toddler into your arms.
“It’s a secret!” Ava giggles, wriggling out of your hold before you even reach the stairs. “I want my roo!”
Your heart melts at the way your youngest daughter pronounces kangaroo. She’s one of the most adorable little people on the planet, you’re sure of that.
“Me too.” Rosie smiles, taking her little sister's hand to help her up the stairs.
Sometimes it’s hard to believe that these two perfect little angels are yours. It’s easy to see that a lot of their physical and personality traits are inherited from their father and you couldn’t be more happy about that.
When the three of you reach the top of the stairs, you watch the girls disappear into their respective rooms before heading to your own. The sound of Ava scurrying into Rosie’s room a moment later, followed by her rather loud request for help getting into her onesie, makes you impossibly more fond of your babies.
It isn’t long until the two little kangaroos come bounding into your room, both giggling excitedly as you finish buttoning up your tiger onesie. “Look at you two, Daddy loves when you wear those!” You smile lovingly. “Shall we go and see if your dad’s finished making lunch?”
Both children nod as they pile back out onto the landing before leading the way downstairs. Ashton’s already waiting for you in the hallway, grinning proudly. “I’m just gonna put by polar bear onesie on, then we’ll be all set for the surprise!” He explains, ruffling Ava’s hair and placing a kiss to the top of rosie’s head. “Wait in the living room, yeah?” He adds to you before pecking a kiss to the end of your nose.
Your curiosity is begging to become unbearable but you do as you’re told regardless, not wanting to ruin Ashton’s surprise.
The girls scurry into the sitting room, bouncing onto the sofa to wait for you. “Is the surprise something fun, Ava?” Rosie asks, her hazel eyes gleaming with excitement.
Your younger daughter nods so enthusiastically that you’re sure she must feel dizzy afterwards. “So fun!” She squeals, glancing over at you and motioning for you to sit next to her.
“I’m just gonna tidy up for a minute, you two sit and watch TV until Daddy comes back downstairs, okay?”
Neither of your daughters seem too bothered about your decision not sit with them. They turn back to each other to start a whispered conversation as you begin gathering up the last pair of hot chocolate mugs you’d left on the coffee table a little while ago. Heading into the kitchen, you’re more than a little tempted to take a detour into the dining room to see what the big surprise is. Luckily, the sight of the picnic that Ashton had prepared in the kitchen catches your eye and you examine the delicious looking snacks before cleaning the mugs in the sink.
Before you’ve finished the washing up, you feel a pair of strong arms wrap around your waist. “You’re meant to be making sure the girls stay in the living room.” Ashton whispers, placing a kiss to your cheek.
“I was tidying up!” You reply, giggling a little at the way his stubble tickles your face. “We can’t both be the fun parents! One of us has to do the boring stuff.”
“Well there’s nothing boring about what I have planned for us later.” Your husband growls suggestively into your ear. “This surprise is half designed to tire the girls out so that they’ll go to bed quickly tonight.”
“Ohh you want us to have an early night of our own, huh?” You ask, turning in Ashton’s arms to face him. “I like that plan, Mr Irwin.” You stretch up to kiss him, wrapping your arms around his neck and allowing the thoughts of what the two of you might get up to later, fill your mind for a little while.
A loud “Eww!” disrupts your blissful moment with Ashton and the two of you break apart to see both of your daughters standing at the kitchen door, disgruntled expressions set on their cute little faces.
“Don’t ‘eww’ at us, you little kangaroos!” Ashton laughs. “One day you might fall in love and then I’ll creep up behind you and make pukey noises when you kiss them!”
The girls share a sceptical glance as though very the thought of falling in love is the most ridiculous thing they’ve ever heard. You kind of hope they keep that view for a while so that they can stay as your little babies for a long as possible.
“Can we have the surprise now?” Rosie asks, choosing to mostly ignore her father’s words.
“I just have to go and set the picnic up in the dining room.” Ashton replies, the excitement in his beautiful hazel eyes almost matching that of his daughters’. “You wanna carry in that little tray of cakes for me, Ava?” He adds nodding to said tray on the countertop.
Your youngest daughter makes grabby hands for the cakes before you pass them down to her. Rosie comes over to cuddle into your side as Ashton and Ava make a couple more trips in and out of the kitchen to carry the picnic into the dining room bit-by-bit.
Once the last couple of plates and the jug of juice have been carried out of the kitchen, Rosie begins to bounce excitedly on the balls of her feet. “When can we go in?” She asks impatiently.
Before you can even reply, your husband yells that the two of you can come to the dining room. It’s entirely possible that you’re just as excited and curious as your six-year-old as you take Rosie’s hand and lead the way out of the kitchen.
The two of you hear a Christmas tune playing as you make your way to the dining room. Some strange lights seem to drift past the open doorway and your confusion builds until Rosie loses her patience and breaks into a little run, pulling you closer to the room in question.
As soon as the two of you enter the dining room, Ava and Ashton yell “surprise!” in unison, gesturing around the room to encourage you take in all of the details.
It’s immediately obvious how much effort your husband and youngest daughter have put into the mini winter wonderland they’ve created. It’s hard to hold back a happy tear or two as you watch Rosie’s face light up with the biggest smile you’d seen her make in days.
Ava steps forward to take Rosie’s hand, instantly dragging her around the room to look at all of the different little details.
“You’ve really outdone yourself, Mr Irwin.” You gasp, glancing around the room, struggling to take it all in.
You assume that your dining table and chairs have been stacked behind the black sheet that Ashton has hung from the ceiling. It doubles as a backdrop for the pretty snowflake shaped lights that you realise are being generated by a little projector that he’d set on the floor in the opposite corner of the room. Other types of fake snow including a fluffy ‘snow blanket’ and some of the powdered type cover various  patches of your beloved hardwood floors. It’s hard to care too much about the inevitable tidying and vacuuming you’ll have to do later, when your tired old dining room looks so beautiful.
“We used the old tree!” Ava beams, pointing at the dishevelled little old Christmas tree in the corner. You’d meant to throw it out after you took it down after last Christmas, but you’d forgotten. Suddenly, you’ve never been more gland that Ashton had piled clutter in front of it throughout the year so you’d never remembered to get rid of it. Even though it’s quite a small tree, it looks incredibly pretty, decorated with this year’s surplus ornaments and baubles that hadn’t made it onto your main tree in the sitting room, along with some mismatched tinsel and cheap fairy lights that Ashton must have purchased this morning.
“It looks so pretty!” Rosie squeals! “I love all the snow too!”
Ashton smiles proudly, scooping his eldest daughter up into his arms and kissing her cheek. “Has it cheered you up, princess?” He asks fondly?”
Rosie nods as she throws her arms around her dad’s neck. “Thank you Daddy!”
“And thank you Ava!” You add, ruffling your youngest daughter’s hair. “But can we eat now, I’m a very hungry tiger!”
Both of your children giggle as Ashton puts Rosie down so that she can lead the way to the little picnic he’d set out on a blanket and surrounded with comfy cushions for you all to sit on.
“The best thing about having an indoor picnic, is that we can wear our onesies and enjoy all of this snow whilst still being toasty and warm!” Ashton explains, plonking himself onto the biggest cushion.
The girls agree enthusiastically as they settle down on either side of him. You don’t think that your heart has ever felt this full before. As you watch your husband, dressed in his comical polar bear onesie place some sandwiches on little plastic plates for your two little kangaroos, you feel like you’ve never been happier.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Charles' apartment living room is such a mess... But in your opinion it is a cute and pleasant mess, some toys and crayons scattered on the floor. He tries to reason with Ava, who holds a crayon aloft, poised to attack the pristine white wall.
“Ava no! Not the wall petit escargot, we have paper for drawing, remember?” He tells her softly, but Ava giggles and swats him with the crayon. (little snail)
You enter the house with the spare key that he gave you, since you go to his house very often and it is no longer necessary for him to open the door for you all the time, since he already sees you as part of the family.
“Hi lovelies!” You say with a smile, and then look at the walls. “Looks like someone's having a creative outburst!” you giggle softly.
Ava, upon seeing you, drops the crayon and starts crawling towards you with a delighted squeal. You scoop her up, burying your face in her soft hair.
“Hey there, little one! Did you missed me?” You spoke to her softly and she babbled.
Charles sighs and smiles. “Thank goodness you're here darling! I think I was about to lose this battle.”
You grin. “Looks like you were outnumbered. Don't worry, I'm a pro at dealing with little Picassos.” you wink at him ane he blushes a little bit.
Charles throws you a grateful look as you settle Ava on the couch and start picking up toys.
“You're a lifesaver amour, I was just about to give up and let her have her way with the walls.” he laughs a little. (love)
“Maybe next time we can invest in some washable markers, don't you think love?” you chuckled.
You grab a wet cloth and start cleaning the crayon marks off the wall. Ava watches you with wide, curious eyes.
“See little miss? We can be creative without making a mess!” you say smiling and Ava reaches out and pats your cheek with her tiny hand. “Aww, you're such a sweetheart, darling.”
Charles smiles. “She seems to like you... Maybe a little too much.” he giggles.
“Maybe she just recognizes good taste.” you say teasingly.
Ava starts babbling again, and you turn to her, listening intently.
“What is it, Ava? Are you hungry?” you asks her and she nods enthusiastically. ”Alright, then. Let's get you some lunch, honeybee!”
You head to the kitchen with Ava in your arms, to prepare her porridge. You sit her in her high chair and start feeding her.
“Here comes the airplane, bringing yummy food... Open wide!” you say giggling softly.
Ava opens her mouth and gobbles up the porridge happily and content. She has been babbling here and there lately, weeks ago she called Charles "Dada" for the first time and little by little she has said several little words.
You watch Charles leaning against the doorway. “She seems so happy... You're a natural with her.”
You smile at him and blushes slightly. “She's a pretty easy baby to love.”
Ava suddenly stops eating and stares at you with wide eyes. “Mama!” she smiles and babbles softly at you.
Your heart skips a beat... You look at Charles, your eyes widening in surprise, he just smiles at the both of you.
“Did she just...?” you say whispering.
“I think she did bébé.” He said grinning. (baby)
Ava reaches out her arms towards you, babbling happily.
“Oh, Ava...” you say holding back tears, you scoop her up and hug her tightly, a wave of warmth and protection washing over you.
“Look like I have some competition for the title of "Ava's favorite person".” Charles chuckles and smiles. “But I think there's enough love to go around for both of us.”
He walks over and places a kiss on your forehead, you lean into him, your heart overflowing with a mix of joy and surprise. You smile, a feeling of contentment settling over you... And maybe, just maybe, this little family is exactly what you never knew you needed.
“I... I can't believe she just called me mama.” you say smiling through tears.
“Me neither. But hey, maybe that's a good sign, right?” He reaches out and takes your hand, his eyes filled with warmth. “Maybe this is all meant to be.”
You look at him, a million unspoken questions swirling in your mind. ”What are you thinking?” you whisper.
“I'm thinking that maybe... just maybe, you could stay.” he whispers while squeezing your hand.
He smiles at you, a hint of nervousness in his voice.
“Stay?” you ask whispering.
“Yeah... You know, permanently... You seem to have a natural way with Ava, and... well, I wouldn't mind having you around more often...” he made a pause and smiles. “Besides... You already spent the night here once, so, it shouldn't be strange for us.” He blushes slightly, looking a little sheepish.
You smile. “You wouldn't mind having me around?”
“No, not at all! In fact, I'd like it very much.” he chuckles.
He looks at you with a hopeful expression, waiting for your answer.
“Well, in that case... I think I'd like that too.” you smile back at him.
A slow smile spreads across Charles' face. He pulls you into a tight embrace, his heart filled with joy.
“So, does this mean we're officially a family now?” you smiled and whispered at him.
“Looks like it chérie.” he whispered back and smile. (darling)
You glance down at Ava, and she starts fussing, her eyelids drooping.
“Looks like our little matchmaker needs her nap.” you smile.
Charles chuckles and reaches out to take Ava from you. He bounces her gently, humming a lullaby he probably knows from countless nights of soothing her. He mutters a little "I'll be right back" and you nod while he goes to put her in her crib, you sigh contentedly while smiling, who would have thought that this single dad and his little angel would captivate your heart? Honestly, you were grateful for it. Charles returns sighing and slightly closes the door to Ava's room, he turns towards to you and smile like a little kid.
“You know, you're a natural with her. I don't think I've ever seen her this calm.” he whispers.
“As I said, she's so easy to love... Like her dad.” you blushed.
He leans in again and kisses you softly, the weight of the situation slowly sinking in. “This is... wow. I never thought things would move this fast... But to be honest, I couldn't expect less, this is perfect amour.”
You take a deep breath. “Me neither, but it feels so good... It's like everything is in its place.” you whisper a little.
Charles looks at you with a mixture of wonder and excitement. “So... What does all this mean?”
You smile. “It means I might need to find a new toothbrush.”
He laughs, the tension easing. ”And maybe some pajamas? Although you can always wear the shirt from last time and you know it, petit coeur.” (little heart)
“And maybe a permanent parking spot for my car?” you say teasingly and he laughs
“Deal! We can even figure out a spot for your favorite plushie collection.”
He winks at you, the playful banter a welcome relief after the emotional rollercoaster of the past few minutes.
“Now you're talking my language, handsome dad.” you giggle at him.
***
You two walk into his room, well your now shared room with him, and even though you still have to look for your things at your apartment, everything feels so special and comfy. The routine is basically the same as the last time you slept with him at his place... You change into one of his comfortable t-shirts, he smiles when he sees you in it.
You two get under the blanket and snuggle against each other, it's like it's already a natural routine for you both, like something you've done a thousand times. He plays with a strand of your hair while your head lies on his chest.
He clears his throat. “You know? I haven't told anyone this, but... This last year has been difficult.” he whispers, you let out a "hm" as a sign for him to continue. “I didn't know what to do, when her biological mother decided, after she gave birth to her, that she didn't want to be part of our lives I felt very frustrated, you know? As if I had done something wrong.”
You caress his chest gently. “You haven't done anything wrong Charlie.”
“I know sweetheart, but at that moment I couldn't help but feel that way... At first I didn't know what to do or how to do with Ava, she was just a little baby who needed my endless protection.” he sighs. “I asked my mom for help for a very long time, I felt like I wasn't doing a good job like her dad... But then I saw that first little gummy smile of hers and that's when I realized that it was all worth it, the sacrifice, the sleepless nights, everything for her... If only I had met you sooner, the story would have been totally different.” he smiles, his eyes glossy with some tears.
You caress his rosy cheeks. “But here I am my love! And I think I came to you at the right time.” You say softly and place a kiss on the tip of his nose, he smiles shyly.
“And you don't know how much I thank you for staying with us and not running away.” Now he is the one who gives you a kiss on the tip of your nose.
“Always love, I will always be there for you, in the ups and downs.” you say softly. “You are now my family honeybunch and I love you both... A lot!” he giggles at the cute nickname.
Looking back a little, you never imagined that you would end up being the mother of the little girl you tripped over on the beach a few months ago with her cute dad, but here you are! In your now new home with the two of them, the loves of your life, they are both the ones you needed in your life and they, in a way, also needed you.
“I love you charlie... Thank you for opening the doors of your and Ava's life to me.” you whispered against him.
He smiled softly. “Thank you for appearing in our lives baby, I don't know how to thank you, I just...” he kisses your forehead. “I just love you too so so much, darling.”

Relationships w/ EXO
Pairing: Ava/Everyone
Suho
-the two room together so naturally they are close.
-is the first to attempt to wake ava up in the mornings but he knows when she’s super tired and needs more sleep so he’ll let her rest if needed.
-is always making sure she eats, saying stuff like ‘you’re our growing girl! we have to make sure you get what’s needed so that you can be healthy and strong like your hyungs!’
-is honestly the cutest and sweetest man child. although the boys think it’s embarrassing when he dances to red velvet, ava never ever hesitates to get up and dance with her leader. it puts the biggest smile on his face!
-ava picks up on his mannerisms and sometimes finds herself doting on some of her members from time to time.
Tumblr media
Xiumin
-okay, ava was kinda hesitant to talk to xiumin when she first met him. she was worried that their age gap (12 yrs) would hinder them from being able to naturally talk with each other.
-but ava has a sister back home that’s only a year younger than xiumin and they’re extremely close, so she soon got over her thoughts and attempted to talk to him.
-she comes to realize just how cute he is! he’ll sometimes tease her by doing aegyo because he knows it makes her laugh and squeal.
-he really takes care of her though; if she’s hungry, he’s there to make her food or run out and get something if they don’t have anything in the dorm. if she’s on her period, he’s the one that knows and will go get stuff if necessary and always makes sure she takes her pain meds in the morning. if she’s feeling down, he’ll be there to make her laugh at his cuteness. Anything, you name it and xiumin has done it for her.
Tumblr media
Lay
-it took them awhile to meet each other but when they did, they equally adored one another.
-lay helps ava with her Chinese and will correct her on her pronunciation and ava does the same with English for him.
-when he’s home, they’ll go to the dance studio together and she’ll sit and watch him while he dances. she never dances for him while they’re in the studio but the first time he saw her dance he was blown away and told her that she was clearly a main dancer for a reason.
-she watched all the episodes of Idol Producer and has literally begged yixing to introduce her to nine percent. (she thinks Justin is really cute but don’t tell lay that bc then he’ll refuse to introduce them.)
-whenever she’s super upset about something, he’s one of the guys she’ll seek comfort from. if he’s not home, she’ll FaceTime him because seeing his face makes her feel reassured.
Tumblr media
Baekhyun
-oh my, these two!! she and baekhyun are probably the craziest when they’re together. if y’all thought that baekhyun and chanyeol were bffs, these three are the biggest best friends! They really love one another!!
-she really looks up to him vocally, and will always ask him to sing for her. if there’s a song she needs help singing, she’ll usually go to him for assistance.
-she’s super duper duper protective over baek. she absolutely hates it whenever he receives hate because he’s the sweetest thing ever and half of the stuff said about him is bull! she gets super defensive when she hears people talking about him in a negative way.
-she always goes to CBX dance practices and learns every dance move. she loves to go to their concerts with chanyeol and fangirl over them while dancing along and screaming the lyrics and fanchants! she’s their #1 hypeman!!
Tumblr media
Chen
-these two love to bully one another. not physically though, but they’ll call each other out on stuff and it makes their members laugh.
-these two are soooooooooOooooooOooOo loud whenever they’re together that you could get temporary hearing issues. she, baekhyun, and chen eventually get the name ‘loud line’ because of how loud the three of them are.
-she and suho always imitate his ‘ah waeeeeee’ but after a while she finds herself doing the same thing. oops.
-another person she looks up to vocally, she truly believes he has the voice of an angel. the first time he heard her sing he ended up with a big smile on his face and complimented her for ages which left her a blushing mess.
Tumblr media
Chanyeol
-these two are called ‘the laugh line’. they literally laugh at anything! they could just be sitting there and be looking at one another and burst into giggles. it’s kinda cute tho, ngl.
-you know how yeol likes to either hit his members when he laughs, or fall all over the place? he’ll never hit ava, but you best believe that those two are always gonna be falling while they laugh. they’ll usually fall on each other and use the other for support.
-he helps her with her rapping and commends her when she does a certain part super fast. she loves going to the studio with him because that’s where she gets to hear him sing and she LOVES when chanyeol sings.
-these two are very supportive of the other. right off the bat, chanyeol was complimenting her, from finding out she’s in one of his favorite movie franchises, to her rapping abilities. she’ll always call him cute and compliment him on his new hairstyles because she’s usually the first one to see them.
Tumblr media
D.O.
-kyungsoo adores this girl! he has such a soft spot for her that it literally makes jongin pout. she thought that he hated her at first because he was always glaring but it turns out he just has a hard time seeing and he was just simply looking at her.
-she’s usually the first one he tells about landing a new acting gig, because he loves how excited she gets. she watches every acting scene of his as soon as it’s released and he’ll try to bring her to his premiers if possible, as well as bring her on set to hang with him.
-she’s the one he goes to when he wants to cover a new song in English and she’ll help him until he gets it memorized and the pronunciation is accurate. she’ll show him different songs that she thinks fits his voice really well and encourages him to cover them.
-we all know about the running joke that D.O. is mean to his members and how he’s “satansoo” (which is bs), but it’s the opposite, especially with ava. he’ll rarely get mad at her and you will never catch him even thinking about hitting her like he does with the boys.
-if the boys go out to drink, he very rarely goes out with them, and more so now, especially since ava doesn’t drink, so he’ll usually go back to the dorm with her and he’ll play a movie or something for them to watch while she lays her head on his shoulder. this rarely ever happens but on the days that ava joins the boys to go drink, she’ll have a coke and kyungsoo drinks water and they’ll watch over the boys together and make sure they don’t get too crazy.
Tumblr media
Kai
-she’s really close with him and sehun because #maknaeline. she normally latches onto him or sehun if she’s not with chanbaek.
-if there’s a certain move in the choreography that she can’t figure out, she’ll go to him and he’ll stay with her until she feels she’s got it down. she loves watching him dance, too.
-if he feels that she’s neglecting him by hanging with chanbaek too much, he’ll try to drag her by the arm and when that doesn’t work he usually walks over and picks her up to bring her over to wherever he’s sitting.
-she always teases him whenever he has to do sexy choreography because we all know how soft that boy actually is. she sometimes mimics his moves and he’ll then yell at her and tell her she can’t do those moves because she’s too young and her innocence needs to be saved.
Tumblr media
Sehun
-these two are the bestest of friends. He sees her as a younger sister, so naturally he’s very protective of her. Sehun isn’t a man of many words when it comes to variety shows, but Ava brings the best out of him while filming since they both struggle with shyness a little bit. They’ll normally stick together when it comes to public places because they both get really anxious in unfamiliar places.
-he’ll always let her play with vivi and has tons of pictures of the two of them on his phone. ava loves vivi almost as much as she loves sehun and that makes him upset, haha.
-she watches every episode of Busted and they’ll sometimes even watch it together.
-sometimes he’ll miss his old roommate so he’ll go to suho and ava’s room and he’ll sleep there. it’s a tight fit but they’re all kinda tiny and ava usually cuddles one of them so that they fit easier.
-it’s not unusual if you find ava and sehun freestyle dancing with each other at concerts. exo-ls always adore those moments because that’s when sehun seems happiest and it makes for great photo ops!

CHAPTER 11
Talia’s POV
The week had come quicker than expected. I tried my best to not seem over excited that Sam might be coming back today. But I also hadn’t heard from him all week so I was worried. All week I tried my best to stay focused for the sake of the kids and it was a task in itself. I finally understood what my Godmother meant by it being quiet without him around. It was definitely so.
I hit the button on my key fob, walking down the street to the venue where we’d hold our dance recitals, meeting up with my godparents and their kids, the girls dressed in their little unitards and their hair done up. We made a whole day of it, me and the girls. I gave the cutest little hair styles as my Godmother helped straighten my hair and I put a little stage makeup on them, practicing with them to make sure they remembered each move. Ava was so nervous but Mariah was ready to go. My Godmother, carrying little JJ, ran her fingers through my freshly straightened locks, making sure it hadn’t frizzed anywhere as Ava raised her arms to me. I straightened out my short, hot pink, ruffled ensemble before bending to grab her. “C’mon, sweetheart…” I sighed. What should’ve been a happy day was only bittersweet. Sam said he’d be here. As the days of the week drew closer to Saturday without a single word from him, I grew more and more worried. My heart had been in my throat all day just thinking about it.
“Do I still get to be a fox girl?” She asked me and I smiled, kissing her forehead.
“Of course, Ava. And you’ll be a pretty faerie with your sister and all the other girls in your class.” I said, adjusting her on my hip.
“I’m scared…” she pouted. My heart squeezed for her.
“Aw, precious, it’s okay to be scared. But you practiced so hard. And…” I decided to give her and myself a bit of false hope. “Sam’s gonna be here to watch you dance!” Suddenly the biggest smile spread across her face and that made me smile.
“Hi, Talia!” I heard from a group of my older students. They were dressed in their cute colorful dresses of variation. I was making them dance to kpop tonight and wanted them to dress accordingly.
“Hello, my lovelies!” I squealed as I approached them. “You guys ready for tonight?” They nodded. “Uh huh- Leia did you practice your solo?” She grinned confidently as she nodded. “Good girl. C’mon let’s get inside so we can practice.” I instructed and the girls began to run. “Be careful!! Don’t twist any ankles! We don’t need that…” I sang to myself. I took a deep sigh before heading into the building with my Godfamily.
I scrambled to make sure everything was going according to plan and that everyone was dressed properly. My groups were going last and I spent every ounce of time nitpicking at everything. Suddenly they called for the Celestial Fox number. I inspected each girl on their way out to the stage, giving encouraging words as best I could. “Big smiles! Keep your head up! Good luck! Have fun!” I would tell them as I straightened out their fox ears and tails. The ran out one by one to Amatukitune by marasy. An instrumental piano piece. Truth be told, the first performance was a mess but adorable nonetheless. I grinned as I watched the girls performing. The second performance was a faerie ballet number to What If by Emilie Autumn. I almost cried watching my little Godsisters twirling in their purple tutus and prancing about with their faerie wings. The last performance by my group of older girls. Peek-A-Boo by Red Velvet. That’s when I stepped in. The girls were living their best lives, being sassy and dancing so in sync as I approached the stage with a big smile. I ran the choreography with them, hyping them up as they danced and I had to say, I was damn proud. At the end of the routine, I stood off the left of the stage for the audience to applaud the children. They had a standing ovation. The looks of happiness and accomplishment on all the kids faces made all the struggle worth it. For a moment though, I caught myself scanning the audience for Sam’s face. But I didn’t see him. My smile faltered as I looked at my feet briefly.
I told my Godparents I would meet them at home. They wanted to take the kids out to celebrate but I was stuck conversing with parents and taking pictures with the kids I taught. It lasted what seemed like forever. Eventually, all the families had cleared out after I spent some time praising my girls for their performance. After everyone left, I stayed behind to clean up props and costumes from backstage. I gathered up every pair of faerie wings, every fox headband, and every leftover tutu before taking the box and placing it in the supply closet. I made sure everything was locked up in the back before leaving through the building. My black high heels clicking as it echoed through the now empty venue. I bid goodnight to the staff that stayed behind and dug through my purse to ready a cigarette, my lighter, and my keys. I placed a cigarette between my lips, ready to light it when I looked up. He stood before me under the streetlamp, dressed in black slacks and a white collared shirt, a few buttons undone at the top. He was smoking a cigarette of his own, a large bouquet of flowers in his hand as he waited for me. He looked tired. This trip definitely handed him his ass. When he finally noticed me, a relaxed grin spread on his face and a wave of relief crashed over me. It almost brought me to tears. “Sam…” I voiced, choking back tears.
Sam’s POV
I touched back down in Florida right on time. I figured I might be late so I had to do things on the fly. As I exited the airport I stopped by the florist store they had inside and at A&W on my way out. Marcel was waiting for me outside to take me home and help me set up my surprise. I wanted to make my homecoming set up real nice for Talia. She was probably gonna kill me for being late but it was gonna be worth it. “You go get ready, my man. I’ll get the boat ready.” Marcel told me as we arrived back home. As much as I would’ve liked to relax, I also wanted to see my girl. And as I checked my watch, I realized I was definitely going to be late. I took a quick shower, sprayed myself down with cologne, and got dressed in a white shirt and black pants. I didn’t wanna be too dressy but I wanted to look nice. I walked out into the living room to put on my nicer shoes. When I reached out for my fresh pack of cigs, I noticed the pink ticket sitting on the coffee table on top of a note weighed down by an empty beer bottle. ‘Hurry up idiot.’ It said, signed with a heart. I smirked as I lit a cigarette and grabbed my wallet and boat keys.
When I made it out to the dock, Marcel had just finished lining the inside of the boat with some white string lights. I made a face as he double checked the cooler and straightened out the blanket he folded. “I had no idea you were such a romantic, Marcie.” I chuckled, climbing into the boat.
“Look man you haven’t been here. Talia’s been missing you and I figured if you wanted to have an eventful homecoming, y'know what I mean, you might wanna look like you put in some effort.” He responded, raising his eyebrows. I gave him a strong handshake and a pat on the back, putting the flowers I bought on the top of the cooler.
“Well thanks pal. I really appreciate it.” I began to ready the boat to leave the dock and started the motor.
I gripped the steering wheel nervously as I sailed through the water. The last time I spoke to her, I told her I loved her. It was a big step for me. I don’t know what prompted me to say it. I was just looking at her and started to feel things. For a little while afterwards I thought maybe I shouldn’t have. But there was this moment on the job, when I thought I’d drown. Like it might’ve been it. And all I could think about was her. That’s when I knew. I didn’t have to hide it from her.
It wasn’t very long of a drive by boat. I was definitely late but I was hoping I would still catch some of the recital. I docked the boat at the peer down the road, grabbed the flowers and ran for it. When I arrived at the building, I turned in my ticket and they gave me a flyer with the times each class performed. I had made it just barely. Walking into the theater, there were small girls dressed up like fairies, twirling around with their hands in the air and pointing their tiny feet to the music. It was absolutely adorable. I took a random empty seat in the back row, trying my best to stay hidden so I didn’t disrupt the show. A mom next to me greeted me with a disgustingly cheerful smile as I sat in the small foldable seat. “Any of them one of yours?” She asked me.
“Mine?! Nope! Nooo. Ha-ha. Absolutely not. The teacher is my girlfriend.” I answered with a nervous chuckle and my heart did a thing. I never actually ever said the words out loud. That she was my girlfriend. And the more I did, the more comfortable I became with that truth.
“You’re a lucky man! Talia’s just the sweetest!”
“Yeah, isn’t she?” I agreed with a grin.
Suddenly, a new song began to play, standing in the center with this short, bright pink little number was my girl. I had never seen her perform before. She led the girls into the choreography and fell into the background, letting her students do the work. But my gaze never left her. I watched her pop her hips and run her hands down her body, hitting every step on every beat. She looked fantastic. Her usually curly hair was straightened and her dress danced right below her thighs, subtly showing a curve with each motion. I was getting myself all worked up so I figured I’d quit and behave until later. As I watched her dance, I shook my head. Whoever passed her over for anything clearly didn’t have eyes. She was talented beyond all measure.
When the show ended, I stood up to join the standing ovation. She really was good at her job and I was proud of her. I wanted to go up to her afterwards but she was being swarmed by parents wanting pictures with their kids and such. So I hung back, waited outside for the crowd to dissipate. I smoked a cigarette or two for what felt like ages before I turned to glance at the door. I couldn’t stop the smile on my face and the tension on hers seemed to disappear. I stood up as she looked over my body, smiling at my clothes. I began to walk towards her and I could feel my ears heating up.
“I uh...tried to dress for the occasion. Traffic on the water is shitty right now and… I had to find a florist that was still open…” I said, watching her body walk toward me, the ruffles on her top floating about in the wind, her legs elongated by the heels she wore. My mouth hung open a bit and she placed a hand on my cheek. I covered her small hand with mine, leaning into her. Wrapping my arms around her waist, she kissed me deeply. She kissed me as if she hadn’t seen me in years. To be honest, it’s what it felt like. Like I had been away from her too long. I rested my forehead on hers with a smile, raising the flowers between us. “These are for you.” I smirked and she accepted them with a tear in her eye. She gave my face a once over and a flash of worry displayed on her face as she noticed the massive bruise over my eye and the cut above my eyebrow.
“Ah, dude…” She whispered, running her thumb beneath the sensitive area. “I told you to be careful!” She pushed my hair behind my ear and I just kissed her hand and her face once more.
“And I have been! I’m back in one piece ain’t I?” I reassured her with a smile.
“That’s gonna scar.” She said pointing to my head wound as I pulled her closer.
“I think I’ll be just fine.” I said kissing her forehead, nose, and lips.

Don’t Kid Yourself
"'Eric, why is there a baby in OPS?" Nell is tired. There was a bomb threat on Pendleton, on a Saturday, their day off, and they all had to come in and they can't find the person who sent it, and Hetty has her running around crazy, and she doesn't know if she can handle a tiny human being screaming in OPS."
Or, there's a baby in OPs and both Nell and Eric learn something new.
Fanfiction
Ao3
“What is that?” Nell walks into OPs and is Eric standing in front of the screen with a thing in his arms. He turns to her and smiles, and the thing in his hands giggles.
“It’s a baby.” He bounces the baby and she laughs again. Nell doesn’t know what’s going on, and she doesn’t know if she should ask or not. “Why do you look so scared?” He takes a step toward her and Nell backs up.
“I’m not good with kids. They tend to cry if I look at them.” She walks around the island to get to her computer, but Eric sits next to her and the thing in his hands reaches toward her.
“Ava seems to like you.”
“You gave her a name?”
“She was born with one.” Eric dangles something in front of the baby and she dissolves into giggles again.
“Eric, why is there a baby in OPS?” Nell is tired. There was a bomb threat on Pendleton, on a Saturday, their day off, and they all had to come in and they can’t find the person who sent it, and Hetty has her running around crazy, and she doesn’t know if she can handle a tiny human being screaming in OPS.
“Kensi and Deeks said they would watch Ava here for the weekend. Before this whole thing happened. Ava’s parents are on an anniversary weekend getaway.” Eric flips the baby in his lap so he can hold her and search something on the computer.
“So Kensi gave you a baby?”
“No. Hetty did.” The baby hiccups, and Eric coos at her.
“Hetty gave you a baby?” Nell knows she’s repeating herself, but she can’t shake the thought of a fricken baby in OPs out of her head.
“Yeah. She said she thinks the two of us can handle her.”
“Two of us?”
“She said that this baby was a job for the two of us.” The computer dings, and he jumps up. “I got to tell Hetty. Here, I’ll be right back.” He all but tosses the child into her arms and then he’s gone. The baby blinks at her.
Nell glances around the room and sees a bouncer, a crib, and two bags all set up nicely in the corner.
“Umm,” the baby hiccups again, and Nell almost drops her. She isn’t good with kids. She definitely isn’t good with babies. And there is a possible bomb somewhere in L.A. She tries to sit the baby the same way Eric had her before, but this time, the girl wants to move. She almost falls twice before Eric runs back in, Hetty on his heels.
“Ah, Miss. Jones, I see you have met our newest operative.” Hetty smiles and the baby reaches for her, and Nell is too quick to pass her over. “Her name is Ava. I think the two of you can handle her until the threat is secured?” She gives them a pointed look and hands the baby back to Eric before walking out.
“I don’t know how to take care of a baby.” Nell mutters, but Eric doesn’t hear her because he’s too caught up with Ava.
They make it about 15 minutes before she starts to cry. Nell tries not to grind her teeth. Eric is up in an instant, checking her diaper, saying soothing words, and then eventually rocking her in his arms. Nothing works until he finds her bottle and runs out to warm it up.
When he comes back he has her nestled in the crook of his arm and searching something on his tablet.
“Okay, so accord-”
“How do you do that?” Nell interrupts him, swiveling around in her chair so she can take in the full picture.
“How do I do what?” Eric adjusts and the baby sinks a little, but she still looks content holding her bottle and her giant eyes staring at all the shiny things in the room.
“Hold a baby and still be able to function.”
Eric smiles at her and flicks something onto the screen. “I’ll teach you. So like I was saying according to Callen three people didn’t show up to work today and two of them checked out but the third person seems a bit off.”
“What do you mean?”
Eric moves the pictures on the screen around until she sees it. They find where the guy lives and send his information to the team before Eric plops Ava on Nell’s lap.
“I’m going to teach you how to hold a baby.” He sits next to them and shows her how to hold her arms, his hands helping her along the way.
“Now. I have a lot of practice, so I know how to multitask, so don’t think you’re not doing well.” Eric steps away and it’s not the worst thing in the world.
Until she sneezes.
Nell nearly drops her again and pushes her into Eric’s arms, because she’s not good with babies and the last thing they need is to add more stress to the day by having her drop the kid.
But Eric just smiles at her. “We’ll try again later.” And then he’s off, the baby in his arms and the world at his fingertips, and Nell is almost in awe of him, because of all the people in the world, she never expected Eric Beale to be good with babies.
“How do you do it?” She keeps her eyes on her computer, but she can tell he’s smiling. “How are you good with babies?”
“Ahh,” He sends something out to the team and turns to her. “My sister had her first kid when I was in high school. My sister also lived three houses away. So, I was Uncle Eric, babysitter extraordinaire.”
“Really?” She almost doesn’t believe him. In all the time she knew him, he never mentioned that he was an uncle.
“Oh yeah. And I was her favorite. Like, if my sister was having a rough night she would drag me out of bed and make me hold Sarah. As soon as she saw me, she would stop crying.” The baby wiggles and he drops her into the bouncer, setting her between them.
The way he looks at Ava is so beautiful, Nell thinks it should be framed.
“You want kids Beale?” She’s tired, but she’s making conversation and it keeps her mind off of what could be happening to the team, so she doesn’t notice how it what she said could sound odd.
“Umm,” He laughs, and it takes her moment to realize what she’s done, but before she can, he nudges her. “Probably. Maybe. I mean, I love kids. I love babies and children and hanging out with them, but being solely responsible for one. I think that could be disastrous.”
“I think you would be a great dad.” She looks at him just in time to see him try to hide his smile.
“And I think you could be a really great at holding a baby one day.”
She knows he’s trying to make her feel comfortable. She also knows that she really wants to see him with his own kids one day. Nell turns and goes back to typing, trying to stop the stupid, dangerous thoughts from entering her head.
“How is she?” Kensi asks. Nell glances over to where Ava is sleeping, cuddled in a kangaroo like contraption against Eric’s chest.
“She’s good.”
Eric glances over at her, and shoots her a thumbs up.
“Really?”
“Yeah Kensi. She’s sleeping, here let me send you a picture.” Nell twists the camera and sends the picture of Eric staring at the computer, Ava snoring soundly.
“Oh my god, that’s adorable.” Deeks says. Nell nods even though they can’t see her.
“If you are right we should have this guy and then we’ll be back to take her off your hands.” Nell watches Kensi get out of the car on the screen.
“She’s good. You guys go do what you do best and kick ass. We’ll hold down the fort here.” Nell ends the call and snaps another photo before turning back to watch the screen.
“Are you sure you don’t want to move her?” Nell whispers, touching his arm.
“Yeah. She’s sleeping I don’t want to risk it.” Ava twitches, and his hands come up to hold her, and Nell is hit with this undeniable urge to kiss him. It comes out of nowhere, but she can’t shake it.
Not when Ava starts to scream. Not when the team kicks down the doors and takes out the threat, all while Eric is trying to console the baby.
Not even when she reaches out and takes Ava from his arms and is able to turn her screams into laughs and finally into happy cooing.
Especially not when Eric just stares at her, the proudest grin on his face.
Nell Jones wants to kiss Eric Beale and it’s all a baby’s fault.
“Come on, you can do it!” Eric reaches forward and scoops Ava up, just before she tumbles to the floor. She flies through the air and squeals as Eric puts her back on the path to walk to Nell.
They’re on the floor of the bullpen, Nell’s feet pressed against Eric’s to create a safe walking zone. Ava teeters toward her, and Nell grabs her hands just as she starts to lean to the left.
Ava yawns, tossing herself into Nell’s lap and proceeds to fall asleep.
“Looks like somebody made a friend,” Kensi says, plopping down next to Eric.
“Yeah, looks like she changed the certified baby hater’s mind.” Eric smiles at her, and she knows he’s teasing, and she still wants to kiss him so instead she rocks the baby in her arms.
Deeks sits himself down next to Nell and she passes him Ava.
“I’m pretty sure Tracy gave her to us to try and convince us to have a baby.” Kensi takes a picture of Deeks and sends it to Tracy. “We’re not even married yet.”
“I don’t know Kens; I don’t think out little ninja assassins could be cuter than this one here.” Deeks smiles at the baby, and Nell sees Kensi smile at him.
It’s one of those smiles reserved for when no one else is looking, not even the person you’re smiling at, and Nell wonders if that’s how she’s been looking at Eric all day.
Nell pulls herself up and then grabs Eric, so she can leave Kensi and Deeks alone. “We’ll go grab her things from OPs.” She says, but Kensi is already crawling over so she can sit next to her fiancé and look at Ava asleep in his arms.
She’s putting the bottles back in the bag when Eric touches her arm.
“Hey, you did great today.” He folds the crib into itself and moves forward to help her pack up the rest of Ava’s things.
“Couldn’t have done it without you.” She still wants to kiss him for no reason at all. Nell knows why, but she doesn’t want to admit it to herself.
She likes Eric. She likes him and his stupid jokes, and his ability to tease her, and how he’s good with kids, and patient with her, and she’s not really sure that she wants kids, but she knows it would be easier if she had Eric around.
She nearly drops the bottle.
“You okay?” His hand settles on hers and she thinks maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. To kiss Eric Beale. To go out with Eric Beale. Hell, to be loved by Eric Beale.
She wants to know more about his family and why he never speaks about them. She wants to know why he doesn’t think he would be good dad, what made him be so good with kids. She wants to know if the lullabies he had been singing where ones his mom sang to him or if he just learned them along the way. Nell didn’t think she liked kids very much, but then again, she didn’t think she would want to kiss Eric Beale by the end of the day.
“I-” She’s going to kiss him, and maybe he’s going to kiss her back.
“Good work today Miss. Jones. Mr. Beale.” Hetty walks into OPs, and Nell takes a step back. She doesn’t look at Eric’s face, because she doesn’t want to know that he can see right through her.
“Thanks Hetty.” Eric grabs the rest of Ava’s things and starts to move toward the door.
Hetty shoots Nell a knowing look before she walks out, humming a lullaby to herself.
“Hey Eric.”
“Yeah.”
His hands are full of baby things, and he’s not really looking at her, but she stands on her tip toes and cups his cheek and presses her lips against his.
She pulls back before he has a chance to do anything, and she’s halfway out the door when he called her name.
“Want to stop over by my place?” He catches up to her, and he wasn’t running but he looks out of breath. “We could watch a movie or something.” He looks hopeful and breakable and beautiful, and she doesn’t know what to do with herself because now she just wants to kiss him more.
“Yeah.” And she’s out of breath because she kissed Eric Beale and it was better than anything she ever expected, and maybe, with the way he’s looking at her, she just might be able to kiss him again.
