So, if anybody read the previous infos about Onyx in my first post of him, I told you that he wants to be a fashion designer and make clothes for mainly mobian guys. LAETUS is a Fashion Magazine which shows the latest fashion trends on Mobius (similar to Vogue lol). It was always Onyx's dream ever since he was a little pup to be in this magazine, so he could be recognised and would have the chance to make his brand famous. After many years of hard work on showing his designs online, one of the main editors of the magazine noticed him, made an interview with him, and put him in the magazine (Onyx is about 18-19 when this happens). miriam: i originally made miriam for a series of horror games! she was the result of a father experimenting on his own daughter and killing her and so she turned into an evil dog demon that haunted an old video game and would break through the screen and kill people. moral of the story: human experimentation is bad and also don't abuse ur kids

also like. the elephant in the room is the whole like. yeah it's really fucking ableist the whole thing at least with like the first story arc I guess with the movies. it's very much implied at least in two that he's like so craaaaazyyyyy because something's wrong with his head because he somehow survived the drowning and decided to be a super murderer after that. I think it's way more compelling if it's like yeah, he was disabled in life but that's like .....okay well. okay listen. I think it actually makes sense if he's nonverbal or otherwise verbally limited when he was a kid, because then the (teenaged, somewhat irresponsible) counselors would have assumed he would be quiet and wouldn't give a shit about him, basically. and when he was in trouble, he had no way to call for help that would've drawn their attention. they couldn't listen for him, but also didn't really consider it important (maybe even because they knew if he was mistreated or yes neglected he would be unable to communicate this)

....in this much, his mother was right. she just also doesn't accept her own responsibility in failing to save him (or at least keep him somewhere she considered in safe hands), and instead externalizes it to like, sex and teenhood being the greatest sins. (There is also the possibility she wasn't a particularly good mother. By the first EIGHT FILMS we don't know, really, how she treated him or what their relationship was like when he was alive, only how the trauma of it affected her. not him, even, which is also I think kind of interesting, about how children's viewpoints are typically thrown aside in favor of their parents'. but I also am not particularly convinced either way on this one, as far as like, what kind of parent she really was.)

anyway. jason as a big murderer to me is fun as kind of. the haunting of the consequences and the loss and the brutality of his mistreatment (and if you take part 5 into consideration you have some themes around specifically the mistreatment of again mentally ill and disabled people, and most notably the *loss of autonomy* with that, and while that is not a perfect movie, I respect it for even trying where the others do not) even though he himself rarely appears particularly angry (pretty much only when it's related to his mother/seeing her as hurt or threatened or whatever).

and part of that i see as just like. he's not really alive like everybody else, that's just kind of the effect being undead Has On Things. he is an adult man now because adults are the only ones who have the power to do anything, even if that anything is just destroying everything you see. (part 8 kind of plays with this idea, but sloppily and badly and contradicting what we DID supposedly know about his life. so whatever.....). he is a monster who is a child at heart, but one you cannot appease, just as much as one you cannot stop, because it's not just revenge. he's there as long as the problems that caused his death are there, and won't die because this utter wrong cannot be forgotten, and can never really be forgiven, because there's no fixing this problem; there's no peace.

it's not really about the kind of person he would've grown up to be, and as an entity now himself he doesn't really make a lot of choices in what he does. he just does it, like it's what he was meant to do, like he knows something we don't, the only selection he has in his killings is he spares children and animals, both innocents and usually less capable of harm (which is why Tommy in part 4 is soooo interesting but I'll save that for later). and thats why he's always gotta come back.
