Faith, Hope, and Love

Day 8 of falloutober! I’ve been busy so unfortunately this is rushed BUT I really like this prompt/my idea for it.

So: Driving forces.

Danse has Faith in the Brotherhood. Preston has Hope in people/humanity. Damien has undying love for his son. Faith, Hope, and Love are what drives them all.

But they’re also what hurts them.

The Brotherhood loses Faith in Danse, Preston loses Hope in humanity, Damien’s undying love becomes conditional. Just as much as they’re defined by their faith and Hope and Love, they’re hurt by them, their Faith and Hope and Love tested and bloodied.

So I think it’s just an awesome parallel and I thank @falloutober yet again for suck sweet prompts

So initially I was like ok, Hiraeth takes their paladin oath after the events of Act 2 and don't tell anyone and especially don't tell Astarion because they're afraid he'll react badly.

But that's a braindead take. And based on the Oath of Vengeance, which isn't relevant anymore.

Now I think that, um, actually? Astarion and their relationship with him is one of the primary motivators for them taking the oath. Obviously they wouldn't admit it to him anytime soon, but c'mon. Kindle the Light? Shelter the Light? Bruh. "Oh so this mean nasty vampire man has sad round eyes and soft hands and is able to feel gentle things even after centuries of torture? You mean to tell me there is light even in the darkest places and it's worth nurturing? Hmm wow so there are good things in the world? Ok I will protect them with my fucking life then."
