watched the first ep of Dead Boy Detectives today, did anyone also think the dialogue was a bit clunky?

I don't mean it was unwatchable or anything i just feel like it didn't feel realistic the way they introduced the characters and world... It felt like the dialogue was for the viewer instead of an in character thing. We were gonna be introduced to a viewer surrogate within the first few minutes, there was no need to have the characters who already know how the show's world works spell it out for nobody... and then explain it again when Crystal showed up? idk it felt like something I would write (not a complient) 😅

ok ive heard that the second part of it isn’t as good and im wary of that but like. honest to god i think between the overall aesthetic, story content, and phule, valencia might be one of my favorite worlds, if not my current #1 so far

putting the rest of my blabbing under a readmore for courtesy’s sake

i yakked a lot abt the visual aspect of valencia + the aragon skyway in that little photoset i posted but i rlly love how desolate, gloomy, and mechanical everything feels, because if you took all that away i’d wager that valencia is Even More Gorgeous, but for now we’ve got stormy skies, everything is washed in this dank depressing green and blue, and of course there’s that giant machine that’s ALWAYS visible from every corner of the skyway that’s just groaning and creaking all the time. i LOVE how i don’t even know what it’s for yet but it’s already set itself up as a looming threat like oh Lord i do not vibe with this thing not at all no sir i need it away from me NOW

and damn if i don’t also love how this chapter of the story completely blindsided me with how morally bankrupt the armada is like. enforcing a total lockdown in sivella? no one can leave or even move around of their own volition? check. literally tearing apart a little island that was STILL INHABITED to graverob someone for personal gain??? double check. also what the fuck is wrong with you. that actually made my jaw drop a little when i got to granchia lmao
