Sharing a longer snippet because I really like it :D

“Lug,” Sharpe muttered, “what did I say about singing?”

He stumbled and grunted as Lug clapped a hand on his shoulder. “There’s nothin’ here. You scared of rocks?”

“There was ‘nothing’ in the junkyard, too,” he said, slipping away from Lug’s touch.

He hardly had to look behind him to know Briar had twisted his face in discomfort. The boy had told him in rambling, nervous words that he hadn't sensed anyone before the attack, but Sharpe hadn't wanted to talk about Pather abilities, sensing people, or anything he couldn’t point his gun at. 

“Yeah, but we still made it out like we always do. And look what we get to see now!” Lug swept his hand down toward the city before resting it on his hip. “The junkyard was all red and brown. Andakil’s pretty!”

Sharpe turned to regard the spread of light and color below them. It was aesthetically fine, but he was more concerned about the alleys, the levels’ twists, and the specks of transports zooming around. There would be as many places to hide in the city as there were in the canyons above it—not exactly a level battlefield.

“It’s rainbow,” he said tonelessly.

“Maybe we can stay here,” said a small voice, “if it turns out to be safe.”

Nothing will ever be safe for us, Sharpe wanted to say. It almost spilled from his mouth automatically, as mechanical as his frame.

He looked down, tensed at the anticipative shine in Briar’s eyes, and said instead, “We’ll see.”

Briar smiled very slightly.

At that smile, some part of him remembered hope.

i think i wouldn’t hate disco elysium’s collage mode nearly as much if it weren’t for 1) the way that it was marketed in such a tasteless, soulless manner, let alone the fact that it was a last ditch distraction from a dead on its feet studio piloted by dumbass thieving execs and released on the day of the court declaration, and 2) those dumbass fucking stickers

like if it had been included with the base game from the start and had been titled something a bit more tasteful and in-line with how i would have liked the feature to be marketed as— something like “exploration mode”, something that perhaps could only be unlocked after completing the game for the first time, AND didn’t have those stupid as hell visually and tonally incongruent with the artstyle stickers, i would have applauded it as a nice little bonus for being able to study and appreciate the 3d models and environments for reference.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BESTEST WIDDLE SNAKEY WAKEY.

I can't believe my son is 18!! I estimated a birth date for him to be about a month before I got him in fall of 2006, since he was such a widdle month-old baby sneky. I always try to get a good birthday pic of him - especially after he eats and gets the good yawns in.

Pretty soon, he'll be off to snake college, for snakes. Dunno how we're gonna afford those ssssnudent loans.

The next three photos are sequential. The same snake appears with his mouth barely open. Then, his mouth is wide open in a yawn. His cheeks look so smooshy. His head is shaped the way a snap hairclip opens, curved upwards, and it's funny and cute. His mouth has ridges inside, but no teeth or fangs are visible (because his teeth are too tiny to be photographed politely, and he does not have any fangs). The last photo in the sequence has the snake with his mouth still open, but the top of his head is a normal shape again as he begins to end the yawn.

qifrey swore he wouldn't say 'sorry' to this man any more if he could help it - sorry is cheap now. he didn't want to be in a position ever again where you only have 'sorry' left. so he just looks down into the threads of his blanket, strains his eye until it hurts, feeling his insides - his throat, heart and head - burn with pain. he expects more, but olly says nothing.
