OK. Tell them. Make it a teaching moment. Everyone who's in your movement learned the background from somewhere at some point, maybe this is that point for that person. Give them a jumping off point that they can dive into later.

OK. Then don't tell them. You don't have to be responsible for teaching people with a budding interest in your group the ins and outs and how-tos. That's fair and valid! It can be a lot of work. Someone else will handle it

OK. Then don't engage with them, if it's that bad. Maybe someone else will come around and tell them the history, maybe they'll pick it up on their own, maybe they'll just enjoy the fashion elements for awhile.

I feel like we have a few options here. People can either talk to them, share the history, share the values, share the praxis. Or they can just chase off anyone who even thinks about dipping a toe in their community, and then wonder why it's dying off later down the line.

I dunno, maybe I'm too naive and patient or whatever. But if people are entering your -punk spaces without knowing The Rundown of what you feel they need to know, maybe being nice about it and informing people instead of immediately assuming stupidity and malicious intent could help you make a new friend. Even the loudest voices in a space had to learn from somewhere, and not everyone has the luxury of being in the space as the History was Happening--whether it's an age thing or a not being aware of the space thing. Or maybe I just don't see what the big deal is behind people hating people who like the aesthetic of something and don't know the behind the scenes history about it yet.

Because I believe in the word 'yet.' No one comes into this world knowing everything about everything, and we're all constantly learning new things. I'm not gonna degrade someone and call them a poser for not knowing what I know. Because if it were me, interested in a scene but getting chased out and called a poser? I wouldn't hit the books and study up, I'd go 'that fuckin sucks, those people sucked' and then avoid anyone and anything having to do with it.

So chase people off and call them posers if you want. But if your community starts dwindling, don't be fucking shocked.

okay i literally did like a huge ass ramble shortly before answering this but to answer the first half of ur question

if youve seen any trailers or shit for elden ring, theres that lady early on with the cloak whos like "i offer you... an accord", who gives you your horse, torrent. pink hair, one eye closed, BIIIIIIG cloak

THATS melina (not to be confused with malenia, blade of miquella, because if i have to say both their names out loud i WILL get tongue twistered)

melina is the one of the first npcs u meet on screen, and one of the earliest your character talks to (first npc you talk to goes to varre, also known as the "No Bitches?" guy)

her whole deal is like. she finds you in the dirt. her horse torrent thinks ur cool. she decides that if torrent vouches for you, you can DEFINITELY kill god. probably, she is a little suspicious at first.

you cant level up because you cant channel runes (currency gained thru violence) into strength (levels) because you havent been taught how. conveniently melina knows how and offers to do it for you and ALSO teach you how to do it yourself, and after that you can level up no problem. sometimes at sites of grace (elden ring bonfires), she shows up and you can chat with her. USUALLY its because your at a spot where Marika (goddess girlboss and also maybe melinas mom) said some Relevant Things that melina thinks might help you to know. occasionally its because she needs to reality check

she has dialogue about boc, a seamster kicked out from his tribe who misses his deceased mother dearly, and cries pretty often about it. she asks you if crying about dead moms is something people just Do and thinks hes kind of precious in a pathetic kind of way and asks you to talk to him often.

the other kind of reality check comes in the form of Melina Lectures, in which you are about to make probably the worst mistake of your life and invite a god made of Personhood Destroying Fire to live in your body and she talks at Length about why you REALLY SHOULDNT DO THAT (some of her most emotionally charged dialogue is here and honestly its really nice to hear her get so emotional. her usual tone is a kind of monotone bemused, except when shes asking about Is This Normal, where she gets endearingly confused). the other melina lecture is post her offscreen arc where she is steadying her resolve to, and im not making this up, Burn Herself Alive For The Cause, and shes actually pretty intense about that one, firmly stating that she wont let anyone talk down about her decisions and what she wants to die for, including you

which brings me to that thing i babbled about in my insane ramblings: melinas purpose

she isnt like, alive. in the normal sense. she describes herself as having a mother, but not being born. she describes herself as Burned And Bodyless, and mostly appears by becoming momentarily tangible at sites of grace with a kind of whooshy fade in. she can only "govern her movement freely" when inside the erdtree, the literal pillar of faith and divine presence in elden ring. otherwise she needs you to basically carry her from grace to grace, as she cant travel on her own.

this is because her purpose is to serve as kindling, to spark a flame capable of burning said erdtree down. some speculation here, but it can be assumed that her INTENDED purpose was to kindle a flame, burn the erdtree, and encourage her chosen tarnished (you) to continue the divine legacy of the Current God Regime. it isnt stated in clear words, but it can be understood that melina instead chooses to die on her own terms, for a world she has a say in helping to make, for the sake of a world you choose to help create, instead of slavishly following her predetermined destiny. if she cant help but be kindling, she can at least choose what cause she dies for, and imo thats the true meaning behind her dialogue where she sternly states she wont let anyone talk bad of it

when Emma was like “share your pain with us!!”, I liked how Norman turned to Ray like “Ray. help. tell her I’m right” kind of like Ray did in s1 pfff-

Norman cried the words he didn’t allow himself to say in s1 :( I’M EMOTIONAL. it might not be the icing on the cake execution wise but GOD MY HEART. And knowing he’s going to die to it’s just- (well not if the pen has something to say about it but more about that later)

it’s interesting that while Emma got the entire emotional speech spotlight, only Ray got a reaction shot to “I won’t live long”?? equivalent.... exchange...?

I thought Norman had a seizure when he broke down in front of Emma and Ray and I kinda wish he had because while it’s good to have him say it outright (a win for communicationnn), imagine THE ANGST. “I want to live with yo- *coughs up fountains of blood*”.

So. yknow that hideout Cislo or Vincent referenced when talking to Emma and Ray. Yknow where Norman hid the children they stole from farms, making it look like demons did it? ... w-what about them? will we see them? Are they getting left behind? it would have worked for Norman’s plan, since all they had to do was stay put and wait for demons to be yeeted. But now... he’d have to take them all too. But... I doubt we’re gonna introduce a bunch of new designs and characters? Or are we? Who knows. I don’t. I have unreasonably amount of protecc feelings for those children I’ve never even seen haha- WHERE ARE THEY. I mean... the plan rn is to immediately use the gate right? or is the plan to eradicte the GF farm staff and higher ups? I guess if thats the plan it might work. Or I guess the plan is to save Phil for now???

the idea of Sonju just... slicing his arm and throwing it at demons in a loop sounds so funny to me please someone make that.

I liked that Mujika turned to the lambda kids after giving a cup to the demon children but then we didn’t see their reaction or anything and then it cuts to the temple??? that was weird. was there sth missing there? confusion.

I also like Isabella remarking "[a radio] was supposed to be there" regarding the shelter, because it further heavily implies they know of the shelters and just let them be. Which further confirms that they should have just reframed the shelter and had the kids escape from it quickly but oH WELL.

I really liked demon Emma apologizing and Norman's reaction to that. it was a sweet little moment and like, the realization of apologizing for something that she didn't do but is aware of and all that. Cycle of hatred and all that shiz hell ye. Ik the anime won't rly delve into that but I kind of relish in the angst potential of the village - sure it was undone but some were still eaten and died and transforming people back won't bring those back. So, that’s some hella terrifying implications for families; and I'm assuming Norman is aware of those so. guilt time! not that he wasn't aware it was bad but yeah- I teared up at that moment :<<

I feel like this season really does its best when it’s doing the whole two worlds/species angle. Mujika and Sonju, the village, demon and human Emma... all that stuff.

I wish we had gotten more time (god this is really the season’s downfall) thought to see Vylk talk to the GF kids more often. it’s implied he told them not to hang out there before but I would have liked to have him show up a few more times before that but yeah. Runtime very RIP.

I also feel like CW is bending over backwards to put cliffhangers at the end of episodes. that was already a problem in s1 when they had Phil come in when Don and Gilda were in Isabella's room. it was obvious it'd be a copout but they still did it. I'm just wondering why we had to have Vincent disagree with the group to this extend (and if the shock value might play a part in that). we have 2 more episodes, why are they introducing more plot threads? Just streamline it you dofuses. I just don't know what good can come of it unless it's like an ultra big brain move to help them?? (and then we're back with the forcing cliffhangers thing) - if it's actual conflict, this'll just make things more confusing and clustered, and we don't have time for that right now imo. But who knows maybe it plays into something I just don't understand yet and it'll work out somehow

. Animation flow kinda dead.

I felt like this episode was kind of... awkwardly executed whenever something that was a slightly dynamic movement happened?

The whole bit while Emma is walking up to Norman could have been better, but it’s passable, except that a lot is spelled out for us.

But then she takes his hand really weirdly in a far away shot with bad inbetween timing?? what is that haha-

Or him collapsing is cut really weirdly. you barely really see it, you just kinda piece it together from Emma’s reaction and her catching him.

Most facial expressions are good though, which is arguably the more important part in this scene. I feel like a better execution just would have elevated it even more.

The only one I felt was really awkward in its entirety is Barbara’s scene with the children demons. I felt like that was in particular kind of stiff and the cut between the child and her was too sudden and felt jarring. TPN anime doesn’t really do that sort of stuff a lot, so imo it’s kind of “??” when they do it. With Norman it was too, but that at least had a good transition over to it (with bg and fg panning) and nice animation. Barbara’s just kind of switched. Tbh don’t switch it out, and as the child screams, switch over to her facial expression as her own voice fades into the scream? I think that would have done it too and also be low effort.

I think it’s moreso the flow of the shots than the actual shots though? it’s a bit too fast paced and sometimes missing inbetweens (like the wild demon eating sonju’s hand is literally just 2 frames) - it’s very weird. It’s jarring, but I can’t really explain why.

I’m sorry for the staff, I’m sure the production hasn’t been easy. maybe with the bluray release we’ll get some updated animations/inbetweens.

Some appreciation though:

as mentioned, most of the facial expressions, even if the body language was a bit stiff.

the cut from the trio talking to the eye-transition of the demon and the following breath animation looked nice. Also his arm regenerating!

Where has the anime’s “show off the younger kids” angle gone? I thought they were always pretty good at that. but they haven’t really contributed anything since the whole tidbit about the older children always eating less for them. And even then it was just Lani and Thoma.

Potentially, what segments we saw in the shelter will come back for the GF raid thematically but I’m just... EH?

at this point, just stick a syringe part at the end of the stick and just inject it and it’s gonna solve everything probably.

I just don’t understand why that needed to happen. Assuming they go to the human world, it’d be perfectly acceptable for me for medicine to be so advanced that it’d be able to like, lessen their symptoms and significantly improve their lifespan.

Don’t just... REMOVE their struggles. It’s okay to not be normal and cured. it’s okay for their lives to be impacted by it going forward. In fact, I’d much prefer that.

(added in later) OH wait they literally spell out why the cure being in the pen is meaningful - because it opens up a path where they can live through not having annihilated all the demons - it's essentially the moral "reward" for not killing them. Since they probably wouldn't have gotten it if they did that. I still think it wasn't needed and the blueprint on its own would suffice for another pen-convinience moment but I kind of get what they're going for, I just don't think it's worth it . In their case, going to the human world (while they don't know it) means having more medical expertise at their disposal which they can then use to survive. UNLESS they're actually not welcome over there and have to hide or something, in that case... that might be hard, true. I guess I'll come back to think about this once it's over. For now, it feels kind of unearned and it wouldn’t even have to be this way in my eyes which makes it somewhat worse.

But good, let’s say in-universe you need it NOW, then at least don’t put??? the medicine??? recipe??? INTO the hologram.

What if they just checked the GF blueprint and Norman goes “hey, Vincent... do you think this [database/archive room] could have some data on our experiments?” - Norman said he tried to develop a drug to help them but the supporters who had that data were purged. but... they had Smee to help them too. But SOMEHOW, a dude from 15 years ago just HAS the cure??? (at least let Norman develop it himself and have the data be just THE DATA and not the recipe).

15+ years ago, James Ratri was assumingly still the gatekeeper since the switch to Peter seems somewhat recent considering his big "era of James has ended" speech.

I guess the implication is that just like Smee => Krone => Norman, a supporter all that time ago gave random person the pen when they escaped.

When Vylk found him, he also had just the data medium of the pen (not the entire pen), so maybe the farm thought they eliminated it and that’s why they didn’t change their methods to not work with those drugs anymore? It's still a bit curious that their experimentation hasn't changed at all in 15 years but maybe that's because they keep killing the smart people instead of making them scientists to research for them :D

Somewhere since those 15 years, Smee gave Krone the pen (probably a few years before she got to GF?), which means that at that point the gate the keyword "future" sent them to, was still in tact when Smee gave Krone the pen. Maybe WM wasn't discovered yet at that point?

then WM got discovered, James was chased. He made that phonecall update and was probably eventually killed, along with the human location (and likely bunkers since they knew a radio was supposed to be there, begs the question why they didn't remove it) being discovered (the one with the future keyword) and the gate there being destroyed.

The problem is just that it can make sense when you think about it for way too long and assume things in good-faith, but it still feels unearned.

Maybe I would care more or this would feel a little more earned if we knew ANYTHING about that person? They seemed fairly young, so it’s probably not Minerva/James Ratri. The “hope” talk reminded me of the book in the shelter, but I’m not sure if that checks out either? The cookies were rotten but not completely. I know cookies hold out relatively long, but would they rly not be completely rotten after 15 years? I MEAN. Maybe not. Who knows. I tried to google it but didn’t find anything. 

But anyway. That tidbit is going into my “shelter kids OC project” I guess.

But even if the worldbuilding makes sense, I think the data set in itself makes little sense?? How did they find that pen part? Did a supporter give it to them? Why do they have the cure? Clearly their group of escapees wasn’t doing too hot (#help) and they seemed relatively young too so they probably couldn’t have worked in the farm.

Were the shelter escapees lambda escapees? but if that was the case, wouldn’t the WM group have secured the cure information more properly than in just one pen (maybe it was and those were just destroyed, to be fair) - it’s just WEIRD to put the cure for Lambda experiments on the same blueprint as the GF layout??? that makes so little sense.

Plus, why would you send them to GF, when it’s so secured and all that, and not just send them to the human support place our GF kids were sent with the “future” keyword, which had a gate. Maybe it didn’t exist 15 years ago (that the humans had control over it, that is), but even then it seems weird to me to imply to send them to GF instead of one of the other gates that existed. I mean. The “future” location’s gate wasn’t destroyed when Krone got the pen right?

I’m guessing maybe it was meant as help for escaping? But then again, why the cure? I guess if they met lambda experiments? I’m just confused.

Also: do we just accept that the layout of GUARDS and SECURITY MEASURES has not changed in 15 years???

GODDAMN SORRY this took a while cause i suck at putting thoughts together. i apologize for my obvious briefs bias i have more hcs for them than the son family despite loving them both :pensive: anyway heres some random stuff

briefs hcs:

all of the briefs are pros at non-verbal communication. i hc that saiyans have their own language (and also in my own Mind Canon they still have their fuckin tails) and a lot of it is done through tail movement/body posture/grunts/etc. etc so theyve all sort of picked that up. even bulma, who doesnt have a tail, is pretty good at getting across what she means without actually speaking. they still do speak normally but it comes in handy sometimes considering that both trunks and vegeta are prone to running out of speaking energy or getting very frustrated with words, so having another way to communicate works very well for them

vegeta is fffffffffffffffffffurry. without getting too deep into my own General Saiyan hcs (thats why i made a whole ass four subspecies!!) i think that the entirety of planet vegeta tended to be very hot aside from the part where the castle was, where the temperature would drop. meaning that saiyans working in the palace would grow thicker fur around certain parts of their body, and in the royal saiyans theyd be Especially fluffy. he kept it down on earth, but he has thick patches of fur around the bottom parts of his arms and legs. kind of like snowy boots and gloves! he also has fur that grows in on his neck like a lions mane.

future trunks is an actions sponge, vegeta is a words sponge. vegeta will pick up words VERY quickly regardless if he fully understands the meaning of it or not (completely inspired by 'THATS RIGHT BOYS... MONDO COOL' in z) and future trunks will unintentionally mimic the actions of people - around people he looks up to he might take a few small mannerisms from but this extends to copying the disposition of anyone; he's just very adaptive. this is the most obvious (and funniest) when he's around vegeta bc it really shows like. yeah damn that sure is vegeta's son

vegeta & bulla have an intimidating bastard smirk naturally. their natural smiles are pretty frightening and they have to put effort into a 'normal' one. this also extends to current trunks, his default smile is the Vegeta Bastard Smirk but he learned to have a normal smile quicker than his father and sister. future trunks has a slightly unnerving natural smile (the fact that his pupils are always drawn so fucking small makes me hc that he just has a very intimidating look of 'cat thats about to pounce on an unfortunate trapped mouse' whenever he smiles) but he learned to look normal even quicker than current trunks since he's around humans a Lot and is sort of their uh, Hope. don't want to look scary to the people who depend on you!

bulma has some fighting knowledge and mildly good ki control. vegeta taught her it as a just in case so that she'd be able to defend herself against Bigger threats if he wasn't there and also so she could raise her own ki to alert someone to her if she had to.

vegeta is extremely clean and can not stand to have things disorganized for more than like... an hour before he has to tidy everything up. every time he goes down to the lab and bulma is passed out in a pile of bolts and circuit boards it kills him inside just a little bit

future trunks has little concept of power control. since his timeline was always in danger it wasn't really an important thing for him to learn. the amount of mugs he's accidentally crushed is impressive

vegeta tends to not sound like he's asking questions when he is. he doesn't add the proper infliction to the end of his questions and just sounds flat most of the time. it's confusing to people who dont know him well.

im not even gonna lie, im a BIG fan of the chill demon panchy headcanon so i love the idea that the briefs have a Lil bit of demon in them but just dont know it ghjnkm

vegeta doesn't really get labels but he's bisexual & "debatably a man", bulma is bisexal & bigender transfem (sometimes shes Wamen and other times its like "gender? no"), bulla is a nonbinary lesbian, current trunks is a bisexual trans man & future bulma forgot to explain the concept of gender and sexuality to future trunks so he's a little confused on that front and his gender & sexuality are "i have literally never thought abt these concepts in my life but i think men are nice. i refuse to think about gender though" (i actually have two main hcs for future trunks which are either gay trans man or more-feminine-presenting nonbinary bisexual)

son hcs:

goku is Not as fluffy as vegeta at all, but he does have fur on certain parts of his body. namely on the back of his elbows + ankles, down his back connecting to his tail, and on his shoulders. its inherented from gine!

gohan is learning saiyan language from vegeta! vegeta acts grumpy about it but he's glad to have someone to teach. when gohan learned that most of the history had been lost he basically wished shenron for a big ol book on saiyan culture and gave it to vegeta just as an act of kindness and vegeta was like [in an angry voice but very touched] "Ok. Sit down. You're learning." by extension gohan is also teaching the rest of his family!

i will take ox king being actually non-human to my grave so like, chichi has horns and a very short ox tail! gohan and goten both have horns, but they're hidden by hair. goten's horns are bigger than gohans.

goten also has a more ox-like tail, with a little puff of fur at the end. generally, gohan looks more saiyan-like and goten looks more ox/human-like.

although he keeps up his cheery demeanor very well, goku is still haunted pretty badly by like... everything that’s happened in his life. he still has frequent nightmares about cell & buu specifically.

gohan will freak out at worse, zone out at best, if he's even tapped on the neck. it reminds him of the whole 'getting his neck snapped on namek' so that area is pretty off limits to everyone

goten gets along really well with android 17. they both have a love for nature and 17s kind of like his chill uncle, so whenever he gets too stressed out or just needs a break you can find him face down on the ground outside of 17's place on monster island.

goku is really really good at remembering completely random shit. bulma uses this to her advantage whenever she's working and has him memorize random technology stuff. a week later goku can not remember what he had for breakfast that morning but as soon as bulma asks "hey do you remember what i told you last week" hes like "oh yeah sure i have no idea what it means but [blurts out three hours worth of technical garble]"

oh boy is this a headcanon that has a lot more depth to it than just a bullet on a tumblr post, but gohan has DID!

goku, like vegeta, doesnt get labels either, and does not even Try, ask him about any of it and hes like "i dont get the gender thing but i think lots of people look nice :)" gohan is gay and like vegeta, "debatably a man", goten + chichi are both bi nonbinary, & pan is a lesbian trans woman.

i have a general hc of ki mixing or shielding, essentially, if youre close enough to someone people wont be able to tell apart your ki and you can also 'shield' someone with your ki for a small amount of time. if vegeta has his energy low, his and bulma's energy are the same. same thing with goku and chichi! goten and trunks are near impossible to tell apart, and same thing with gohan and videl.

though goten and trunks are both protective over their younger siblings, gotenks is that protectiveness times a thousand. look at bulla or pan wrong for 2 seconds and you're going to have an angry gotenks in your face asking if you have any last words. i like to think that trunks and goten fused casually a lot, especially around the time where bulla and pan were young, so its basically goten and trunks own attachment to them PLUS gotenks' attachment to them as his own person combined.

i like to pretend end of z did not happen the way it did so uub, using nimbus, travels back and forth a lot. goku isn’t the only one who teaches him how to fight as goten, gohan and trunks all think of him like a little brother and love training with him!

it would have been far more interesting to keep the bitter attitude towards vegeta that future trunks had imo... in super trunks was going through a Lot granted but the fact tht he wasnt more confrontational to vegeta being a dick to him seemed kind of off considering his attitude in z i just.. think it would be interesting and far better if they had more of a back and forth 'family but lowkey hate each other' relationship

hello i have never been kissed in my life but i can try to help you!

throwing this under a readmore for simplicitys sake!

it really depends on what kind of kisses ur going for? 

first kisses tend to be clumsy imo. teeth clashing, foreheads bumping, fuck where do i put my hands? on your waist? in your hair? help?, sometimes its awkward and wet other times its chapped lips. what do you notice? can you smell really strong cologne? is it stiff and awkward? or was this an impulsive, spur of the moment kiss where it was just a really quick accidental face smash before your partner pulled away for w/e reason? it’s good thing to think abt.

super passionate kisses send to be like... they last longer, i guess? hands/arms are more instinctively somewhere - hips, hair, around neck, ect - and it doesnt really tend to be as clash-y accidentally like a first kiss. i said super passionate but i meant more of a “we finally smooch again” sort of thing, the sort of kiss that comes at the end of a slow burn. but if you want more passion - its more movement. sometimes people get grabby, sometimes its some accidental backing up because you lose your footing, ect.

important note: mentioning kissing back is very helpful. kisses can be one-sided sometimes. mentioning the other person kissing back shows eagerness.

also: how much do you want this kiss to mean to the reader?

for example, consider how this:

compared to

the first one implies the quick, impulsive nature of a rushed kiss. it lasts for a line before it’s dropped and before michael’s gone.

the second is more focused on senses and drawing things out. the desire of wanting to pull him closer, chapped lips, the smell of popcorn and shitty cologne. this sort of helps build up the kiss as being something important, as something that’d been waiting to come for a really fucking long time (and, considering its from feelings are fatal, it was). drawing attention to the senses at the time of being kissed helps build up this scene and image in the readers mind, helping with the imagination and visualization of the scene.

the third also is a bit more impulsive, while still bringing in the hints of being a bit more eager and desirable compared to the first. pulling him closer, his hands on your hips, whining when he pulls away - it helps build an image, but its not as strong or as shown as the second example does.

the more you describe a kiss, the more important it’s going to feel in the story. first kisses and long-awaited stuff are things that are really, really good for long descriptions. like... think about how important a kiss would be to you. compare everyday kisses to the kind of kiss that you’d expect to come at a long time of being apart, or to a kiss with someone you’ve Really wanted to kiss for a long time. they all have different weight to them - and it’s good to remember that when you’re writing.

25. if you could change one thing about the series, would you change anything?

I personally wish that it wasnt 3D, or that the first couple seasons would be redone because there was always a learning curve and things like animation/voice acting in the earlier stages was a bit awkward and imo put off some people from watching it. But that doesn’t mean I wanna discredit crwby’s difficult work. Its just my personal opinion rip

i'm sorry if I am just being stupid but how did dumbledore do all of that to harry? he didnt kill james and lily (rip forever). I'm just really confused???

no worries!basically, i think that dumbledore orchestrated all of the major events that happened in harry’s life from the moment his parents died to the moment that he fell off the astronomy tower. dumbledore always had ulterior motives and was just as obsessed with power as voldemort was (which was never really openly discussed in the last book, just alluded to). he always claimed it was for the ~~greater good~~ but i mean...think of all the dictators in history. they all claimed they did things for the greater good so him saying that doesnt really do much imo it just shows that he will do anything to get what he wants. which what he wants is voldemort to die. like that is a goal of his. but also he wanted the hallows to himself and he knew that voldemort also wanted the hallows so it isnt just a case of “wow this guy is a racist mass murderer lets stop him!”. dumbledore was insecure in his position as the most powerful wizard in the world and was terrified of being usurped. so when baby harry “destroyed” voldemort at only a year old, he zeroed in on him. i think that dumbledore knew that tom had used horcruxes, and i think he had an idea that harry had become one--especially after seeing the scar. so i think he used his power as “the good guy”, and basically decided to craft harry to be a pig for slaughter that was powerful enough to destroy voldemort but was never strong enough to destroy himself. so thats why he shoved harry in an abusive household until it was time for hogwarts, bc he knew that the dursleys would never ever let harry know how famous he was or any of that. it wasnt for harry’s protection, it was to sculpt him into a child who was desperate for any sort of praise or affection and was desperate to be accepted. dumbledore also wasnt an idiot and had a feeling that tom would come back to hogwarts when harry started. but if that wasnt enough, he went ahead and got something that would lure voldemort in--the sorcerers stone.  he knew about the multiple horcruxes (horcruxi?) and im sure knew that he was on the back of poor quirrell (also poor quirrell like no one ever talks about how sad his life was). so what did he do? he went ahead and hired voldemort and put the stone behind a layer of booty traps that any 11 year old that barely paid any attention in class could get through. first test for harry was the troll. harry passed and now he had loyal friends who could help him in his mission for good. dumbledore knew that harry was a powerful wizard, both because of his parents and because he was part voldemort. but it didnt hurt for harry to have backup--and also now harry had something to lose, which really propelled harry into his martyrdom throughout the series. dumbledore tracks voldemort’s movements through the year, only telling one person about the stone. the one person who also is a loveable idiot who spills secrets the second he has a sip of firewhiskey. its no coincidence that hagrid was the one who got harry, dumbledore wanted that bond early on. anyways, so the night comes and dumbledore ~~mysterious goes away~~. he knew harry knew about the stone, so he just let him do it. no, he didn’t let him, he planned it so harry would go and face voldemort and get the stone. it was just a test. and harry passed. cue the affection in the hospital wing where dumbledore takes on a fatherly role that seems almost out of character for him (hint: because it is and it was just a part of the plan to get harry attached and loyal to him). second year happens, and who do you think slipped Lucius the horcrux? who do you think started spreading that the Dark Lord was rising again? honestly the most damning evidence to this theory is the 3rd book where dumbledore acts like sirius black is this criminal despite the fact he 100% KNOWS sirius isnt. dumbledore wasnt planning on sirius getting out and the fact that he did fucked up his plan. it meant that harry would have a father figure and potentially be happy. Nope. cant have that for your war hero, can you? So instead of telling the world sirius is innocent (bc...if 8 year olds who read the book understand how sirius is innocent i think grown ass wizards can too, especially if it comes from dumbledore and the minister of magic) he tells sirius to go into hiding. dont contact harry as much. its “too dangerous”. sirius ofc doesnt listen (much) and still contacts harry, but is still under the weight of dumbledore who could crush him in a second if he got out of line. honestly i could go on for all of the books but this is really long lmao long story short dumbledore is a piece of shit and is the reason harry had to go thru everything he did. but also is the reason why voldemort was defeated so.
