Soooooo... I watched The 15 minute Job last night.

I have the utmost respect for Eliot Spencer and Parker. (To express your concerns and then be dismissed? Yeah. I'd walk away too.)

I'm kinda getting annoyed with Nate though. It's almost like he's devolving. Like he doesn't know who he is or what his purpose is. Or maybe I'm more annoyed with Sophie- because she's not doing anything to stop him. Like, Nate is treating Eliot like he doesn't have any freewill. That he's owned by Nate.

And that's not true. It's not. I don't like it. I don't wike it.

Good news everyone!

I landed a new day job! It's much closer to home and only 4 days a week instead of 5! I should (theoretically) have more free time to do art things that I want! I'll be taking a week off from updates to adjust to the new work schedule (10 hour work days over 8 hour days will take a moment to get used to!), but pkmn-REDIRECT will be back soon!

Want to go somewhere and see different things than my apartment walls but if there is a sound or anyone looks at me I will die right there. And if I go outside today I step into a sauna. Also nearly everything besides restaurants closes at 8 despite the fact that the roads are hell 24 hours a day. You can see how this leaves me with limited options

#sometimes i miss the coast so much. yes it was also a sauna & there was the risk of your home being flooded every hurricane season #yes the jobs paid $10 an hours tops and we lived near 5 chemical plants and the water tasted funny #this city is probably healthier and safer and i can earn enough to live here which is why i moved #however consider this: i used to be able to walk on the beach and then read for a while #even in the summer there was a breeze #getting from one place to another took 15 minutes #sometimes it was quiet and no one watched me

Does anyone ever notice in The 15 Minutes Job where Eliot and Parker are are going through the brochures and Eliot reads aloud, "You can't love him until he loves you," and Parker says, "We should go that one anyway."

Then Eliot turns to look at her and does that thing with his eyes just the smallest lift of the brow that's like halfway between "Huh. She might have a point," and "Is she...DOUBTING me??"

truly, the best creative advice I have ever gotten is to stop being precious. stop treating your work like you are uncovering the perfect version of it that it was always meant to be. You aren't. You're building your composition, your plot, your paneling from the ground up. There is no ideal. Just the version of it that exists, which is infinitely better and more important than the version of it you wanted to make but didn't, because you didn't know how to start.

#anyways. theyre making me WORK. at my JOB. when i want to be WRITING????? cruel and unusual #i was on my 15 and working on plotting for a comic and i think this is the most illustriative version of this i can give #like. yeah the story COULD go another way. the story only has to get from point A to C #you gotta MAKE point B matter. not because it was always going to be like this. not because its 'the only way it couldve gone'#the trick is. for a minute. to make the reader/viewer BELIEVE it's the only way it could've gone. to make yourself believe it too!!#but you cannot buy into your own hype until you write it!!!!
