🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction? 

i’ve actually read a lot of fanfiction since i was young and actually attempted to make my own works (which im pretty sure are terrible HWJHSJSJ) but in the context of when i started posting, i was obsessed with the romcom music & lyrics and really wanted to give it my shot in writing a sunwoo fic with a similar premise (take note though i had some other wips before!) and it rotted in my drafts for almost a year 😭 only found the courage to pick it up again and finish it after reading beam’s fics <3

🥤 ⇢ recommend an author or fanfic you love

oof i have a lot ofc but i think i’d give it up to @sungbeam (night terrors & liu) and @wavesmp3 (are you happy?, the sea is yours to take, & 8000 layers of inyun) as some of my favorite authors ever since i admire alot of their works (from plotlines to charas) to even writing style. i also love @loserlvrss (sitting in traffic & alike tides, aligned waves [coming soon]) @jnnul (falling in love at first sight x3) and @blissfullsvn (wish you were sober) !!! i know its alot but these writers have works whose writing styles/plotlines i enjoy quite alot!!

my current user is based off of day6 (even of day)’s the book of us: gluon — nothing can tear us apart which is such a personal album imo… dropped when members went on hiatus and where the sea sleeps still makes me feel so much emotions despite how long its been. ive used similar user names on other platforms like twitter and ive always just loved the sound (glue-ion) and how it looks!!! i do miss using zzoguri but i feel like gluion has always been such a big part of me since i used it back in 2021

We're writing science fiction stories about plurality, set mostly in an alien generational starship. And that starship has a long, long history that isn't exactly stellar (haha).

Some people are going to want to compare what's happened on that starship to Earth history, and derive useful messages from that, or to play gotcha with us, and try to discern our outworld politics. That's just going to happen.

But, what we have to talk about is managing a super huge plural system like ours.

Here is a non-very-spoilery pivotal philosophical excerpt from the current book we're writing that kind of spells out the metaphor that our entire series is using (and we think it's good so we're sharing it). We think this is a useful thing for almost any system to think about, even if you don't read our books. Even if you haven't done such terrible things to each other, there are other systems out there reeling from their own histories of conflict. It's good to know what they face.

The narrator is a therian member of a system who was born on Earth, who has used alien technology to transport themself to the Sunspot (`etekeyerrinwuf):

I tried to tell myself that these people were aliens. Their history was not the same as Earth’s. Their psychology wasn’t the same as humanity’s. Their sociology wasn’t the same. And on this ship, their circumstances really definitely weren’t the same. According to them, no one on `etekeyerrinwuf could die without their express consent and intent, or without the nanites themselves being destroyed, such as in a nuclear blast, and killing everyone. And if that was indeed the case, if you were an iconoclastic cadre of transgender revolutionaries who’d created this new world for generations to come to benefit from your lessons, but then discovered that you’d made mistakes and set yourselves up as technocratic dictators for eternity, would you cling to that power? Would you graciously step aside? And if you stepped aside, would you all commit suicide and otherwise not face the consequences of your crimes? Or attempt to atone and hope to see the benefits of letting your children have their freedom? Would you, as an individual, choose to stick around just to make sure your peers weren’t going back on their commitment to let things be? Or what? And if you decided to stick around, what would everyone else be able to do about it? That’s a dilemma that Earth has not seen, and hopefully never will. There was one concrete parallel I could compare all of this to, though. A system. There’s a theory that some people accept that system members never really die, and can’t be killed. Not while the body is living. They just go dormant for a long time, maybe the rest of the vessel’s life. But also maybe not. And what had happened on `etekeyerrinwuf was very, very similar to a lot of stories I’d read from other systems over the internet. However, this was in the outworld. This was the history of a living people. People made of atoms. Atoms made of gluons, and muons, and quarks, and electrons. Or, at least, some of them were. And here I was, trying to make the best of having permanently moved to this world. Much like how I’d had to make the best of being born on Earth, which also sucked. A lot.

11. what is the best live music show you've ever been to?

most of the very few concerts i've been to so far were very solid performances, i think! i definitely had the most fun at the arctic monkeys concert though, that is genuinely one of my favourite experiences from recent years.

12. what's an album cover that you would frame and put up in your house?

this is such a good question and i am overwhelmed by it. i really like the covers of ...and justice for all by metallica, cloud factory by jinjer and the book of us: gluon - nothing can tear us apart by day6 (even of day) and so many more that i suddenly cannot recall. i might come back to this!!

13. what is a song you are obsessed with at the moment?

hmmm i haven't been listening to a lot of music in the past week or so because i have been sick and miserable, but it's a tough choice nonetheless. it's a tie between guess by charlie xcx and bauchnabelpiercing by uh. several artists. can't be arsed to check the spelling lol.

I've been procrastinating for 3 days until today. So, today I am trying to start my work to proofread a manuscript and write this post. This text consists of six chapters and begins with an introduction to nuclear physics, followed by a discussion on nuclear structure at a fairly basic level. The Fermi Golden Rule is given emphasis throughout. Nuclear Physics is concerned primarily with low-energy nuclear physics rather than high-energy or elementary particle physics, although examples from particle physics are used where appropriate. The final chapter is devoted to charge independence and isospin in low-energy nuclear physics. This chapter ends with the application of the theory of thermonuclear reactions to the design of a thermonuclear power plant. The penultimate chapter deals with self-sustaining nuclear reactions, with particular reference to the nuclear physics of fission reactors and the nuclear aspects of stellar physics. The theory of nuclear reactions is discussed by highlighting the concepts of cross-section and resonance. Quantum mechanics is also used to treat nuclear decay in the next chapter. Spin and static electric and magnetic moments are then examined from the perspective of quantum mechanics rather than through the vector model of angular momentum. This book also discusses the nuclear periodic table, radioactivity, and unstable nuclear states as well as nuclear mass and nuclear binding energy.

The group publishes extensively in professional journals - three of our papers have been chosen as "50th Anniversary Milestones" by Physical Review C & D because they "announce major discoveries or open up new avenues of research - and members of our group have received numerous awards, including two Sloan Fellowships, two DOE Outstanding Junior Investigator Awards, a Humboldt Senior Scientist Award and a DFG-Excellence Professorship, and several are APS Fellows.Nuclear Physics is concerned primarily with low-energy nuclear physics rather than high-energy or elementary particle physics, although examples from particle physics are used where appropriate. We have also done pioneering work on applications of perturbative QCD to nuclear collisions at the highest attainable energies, and discovered that heavy quarks provide a revolutionary tool for the investigation of a new state of matter recreated in these collisions: the quark-gluon plasma that existed 20 microseconds after the Big-Bang.Įxamples of our interdisciplinary interests include the production of top quarks at LHC, strong fields, trapped atoms near Feschbach resonances, and supernovae neutrinos. We have formulated the innovative No-Core Shell Model to predict the properties of nuclei from fundamental nucleon interactions, and have investigated equilibrium and non-equilibrium properties of nuclear matter. We have invented Soft Collinear Effective Theory to describe high-energy quarks and gluons, and Nuclear Effective Field Theories to deduce the force among nucleons. Our group is internationally recognized for leading the study of nuclear physics from the perspective of quantum chromodynamics (QCD). Our main strength is the creation of novel ideas and tools for unraveling the non-perturbative properties of strongly interacting particles, and we apply them to interdisciplinary problems at the interface with particle, atomic, laser, condensed-matter, and astrophysics.
