Tik Tok on the Chopping Block - 04/25/2024
Yesterday, Joe Biden signed the Tik Tok Divest-or-Ban bill into law. I covered this bill extensively in my post, "Tik Tok Bill/HR 7521" back on March 16th of this year. This bill forces ByteDance to sell Tik Tok within one year. It's clear to me that this Chinese owned company is controlled by the CCP and is using it to gather information on US citizens and influence children toward committing self-harm and suicide.
Tik Tok's CEO, Shou Zi Chew released the following video statement yesterday. "Make no mistake, this is a ban, a ban on you and your voice. We are confident, and we will keep fighting for your rights in the courts. The facts and the Constitution are on our side, and we expect to prevail again." He was referring to how they circumvented Trump's executive order to ban the app in the U.S. back in 2020. Tik Tok's position is that through China's Counterespionage Law, its customer data is stored in Virginia and backed up in Singapore. They claim that they have never or ever will share U.S. data with the CCP. Yet the owner of ByteDance previously issued a letter of apology to the CCP about failing to follow the CCP's directives. It's obvious to me that they are more of an arm of the CCP than a private company and we should not trust them. At the same time, I'm also conflicted about trusting our own government. Regardless it's now signed into law, like it or not.
Tik Tok and ByteDance together spent over $7 million since the beginning of this year on TV and digital ads in an effort to stop legislation from passing the bill. A Tik Tok spokesperson said this, "This expenditure reflects work we do to educate policy makers about how legislation could affect our community of 170 million American users." Tik Tok officials lobbied Congress and Biden's executive office last quarter. Biden's executive office contains the National Security Council, the Office Management and Budget, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and other divisions.
As I mentioned in my previous post on this bill last March, Donald Trump and Elon Musk both came out against it. Trump is concerned that it could expand government powers on other platforms, and Musk is concerned about censorship. The bill is intended to remove any foreign influence and investment in social media platforms and websites here in the U.S. The government would have to prove that a foreign entity is directly involved and then initially force divestment, and then later if necessary deplatform the app and shut down their operating websites.
I'm all for private companies operating platforms that allow freedom of expression, but not if they're being operated by a foreign adversary like China's CCP. Yet I'm always very skeptical of our government and their tendencies to over-reach in order to go after their political opposition. Especially with this current bunch in charge. All we can do is to stay informed and hopefully for the sake of our freedom and security vote in Republican majorities in both the house and senate, and get Donald Trump back into office, in my opinion.

For many of them it really is as simple as "something is Chinese, therefore its bad" without any second thought. Pure McCarthyism in the lords year 2024

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) didn't report a staggering $7 billion in award-level obligations and outlays during fiscal year 2022, according to an inspector general audit released this week.
The EPA Office of the Inspector General (OIG) determined that the agency underreported its award-level outlays by $5.8 billion, or 99.9%, and its award-level obligations by $1.2 billion, or 12.9% during FY22, the period between October 2021 and September 2022. The agency further failed to report any of its Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act outlays and under-reported its coronavirus pandemic-related outlays.
"The lack of complete and accurate reporting also led to taxpayers being initially misinformed about the EPA’s spending, and policy-makers who relied on the data may not have been able to effectively track federal spending," the OIG report concluded.
In response to the audit, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., blasted the EPA and called for increased transparency into its activities. 
"It’s outrageous and unacceptable that the EPA cannot keep track of its spending or inform Congress — and the American people — of how it is using taxpayer dollars," McMorris Rodgers said in a statement Thursday. "This eye-opening report only further highlights the need for more transparency at the EPA."
"It also raises questions about whether the agency is incapable of managing its record-high budget or if the agency is attempting to hide the amount of taxpayer dollars it is spending to advance the administration’s radical rush-to-green agenda," she added. "The Energy and Commerce Committee will continue holding this administration accountable for its actions that are driving up costs across the board and hurting Americans."
MICHIGAN DEMOCRAT SIGNED NDA INVOLVING CCP-TIED COMPANY, DOCUMENTS SHOW, CONTRADICTING HER PAST CLAIMS
The EPA ultimately corrected its FY22 figures in May 2023 as a result of the OIG audit while making configuration changes a month later. Overall, the inspector general made five recommendations which it said the agency agreed to make.
The report, meanwhile, comes as the EPA both manages a massive green energy fund and continues to request a larger budget. The Inflation Reduction, Democrats' massive climate and tax bill passed in 2022, created the $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which in turn establishes a national green bank to fund green projects nationwide.

And the White House is requesting that Congress approve a FY24 EPA budget of more than $12 billion, a record level. Republicans have aimed to reduce the EPA budget to about $6 billion, which would be the agency's smallest budget since the early 1990s.
"The Biden administration is using EPA as a pass through for taxpayer dollars to fund left-wing groups that aim to get Democrats elected, not improve the environment," Mandy Gunasekara, a Heritage Foundation visiting fellow who served as the EPA's chief of staff during the Trump administration, told Fox News Digital.
"A failure to report $7 billion is absurd and unacceptable, but also symbolic of how Team Biden operates: prioritizing their political goals over the needs of the American people," she continued. "I’m glad Chair Rodgers is monitoring this and hope the committee brings forth the agency’s Chief Financial Officer to account for this serious oversight."
The EPA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

I hate how tumblr praises Mao Zedong without ever critically thinking about his impact- or even flat out denying the awful things that happened under him
People like to bring up that his policies helped alleviate nationwide famine- which was caused by Mao in the first place. During the Great Leap Forward when peasants were forced to work and then had all the grain they produced taken because it was now government property(similar to a US supreme court decision btw). Local officials who ran the communes (police) would beat peasants and force them to work injured. The food produced by chinese villagers wasn't equally distributed, it sold as surplus (that didn't exist). This doesn't even go into how Mao decided to divest labor into steel production instead of agriculture
Then we come to what people now know Mao for, the Cultural Revolution. Under the idea of destroying anything 'old', people and their belongings and culture were tortured and killed. Again, I don't mean just the wealthy. A common target was ethnic minorities, as the Cultural Revolution was about assimilation
There is a reason that what is probably the most famous incident of violence took place in Guangxi, which is near Vietnam. Mao's officers seized control and in response to the local's 'resistance' committed a several years long massacre. The CCP endorsed ritualistic cannibalism in the area. In an region that was populated by an ethnic minority (Zhuang ppl, instead of Han) the officers did what they believed was necessary for a communist future- which in my opinion was thinly veiled genocide.
Like Stalin, Mao got rid of anyone who was against him by calling them bourgeoisie- which included peasants.
Don't get me wrong, Mao had more sympathy and compassion than any US president I have seen. He was a friend to Vietnam and Palestine as western countries invaded them. Getting rid of landlords was a massive win. He stood by MLK jr. and black americans during the civil rights era. He worked to give women the opportunities they had been denied. He banned child-marriage.
But he was a cult of personality and his leadership got hundreds of thousands of people killed.

The Biden Administration has admitted to flying as many as 320,000 illegal immigrants on secret flights into the U.S., in an effort to decrease the number of illegal immigrant encounters at the Southern Border.
“It means that while record numbers of migrants were flowing over the southern border last year, the Biden White House was also directly transporting them into the country.
Use of a cell phone app has allowed for the near undetected arrival by air of 320,000 aliens with no legal rights to enter the United States.
It comes after a controversy over a 2022 transportation program in which the administration used taxpayers money to move migrants throughout the country on overnight flights.”

There have been OVER 7.2  MILLION illegal crossings of our Southern Border.
The total number of illegal immigrants who have entered through our Southern Border is greater than the population of 36 states. Including;
Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. 
There have been 1.8 million known gotaways who evaded U.S. Border Patrol.  
Since the start of FY 2024 there have been OVER 1 million illegal immigrant encounters.
In January, there were 176,205 illegal immigrants encountered at the Southern Border. 
January was the 35th straight month, where monthly illegal immigrant encounters have been higher than even the highest month seen under President Trump. 
Under Biden, over 340 of these individuals whose names appear on the terrorist watchlist were stopped trying to cross the Southern Border.
So far in FY24, there have been 58 individuals whose names appear on the terrorist watch list who have been stopped trying to enter the U.S. illegally between ports of entry. 
This total is more than the encounters in all FY17, FY18, FY19, FY20, FY21, and FY22 combined. 
Over 20,000 Communist Chinese nationals have illegally crossed the Southern Border since FY24 began in October. 
Communist Chinese nationals are exploiting Joe Biden’s failed Far Left open border policies at “record-breaking figures,” becoming “the fastest-growing demographic entering the country illegally.”
The surge in Communist Chinese nationals encountered at our Southern Border has raised serious concerns that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is exploiting the Biden border crisis for nefarious reasons.
Biden’s Far Left open border policies are to blame for this historic crisis. 
There are OVER 60 instances of Joe Biden and his Administration taking actions that undermined our nation’s border security, including halting the construction of the border wall.

The Biden Administration announced on May 10, 2023, that it would allow for the release of some migrants into the U.S. with no way to track them. 
Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has now admitted that 40 percent of catch-and-release migrants have disappeared. 
Despite this historic crisis Joe Biden has only visited the Southern Border ONCE, and it was widely panned as nothing more than a photo-op.

Update: They've been identified. The guy who shouted is called Newton Leng and works through UCL for the Confucius institute, so he is a Chinese state operative.
The woman in the hat is Adelina Jang, she's an event host for Chinese state events in the UK.
The first woman to approach is Mengying Liu, who is an influencer and CEO of Top Offer Academy Ltd. And the white guy in the background is Davis Kuma, Mengjing's boyfriend and employee at her agency.
Update 1/26/24 In the background standing next to Davis Kuma - Christine Ching Kui Lee -  CCP agent, woman at the centre of an MI5 security warning to MPs for “seeking to covertly interfere in UK politics through establishing links with established and aspiring parliamentarians across the political spectrum” and to “cultivate relationships with influential figures”. Tibetan Uprising Day 2024 and a Half-Forgotten Human Rights Disaster

The red, yellow and blue colours of Tibet's flag flew across the Pariser Platz square behind Brandenburg Gate on Sunday as some 80 protesters gathered for Tibetan Uprising Day.
Reeducation camps for Uyghur Muslims in China, more rarely developments in Hong Kong, and controversies around the Dalai Lama who is the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists, may dominate international news headlines.
But the plight of inhabitants in the Tibetan region that the protestors portrayed in signs, speeches, and information panels yesterday is no longer common knowledge.
A youngish man in jeans and a puffer jacket, who was walking across the square on Sunday, asked the police officer beside him who had mentioned Tibet, "Was ist das?" ('What is it?') The police officer, at least, knew the answer.
Miniature History In 1950 the Chinese People's Liberation Army invaded the remote region bordering Nepal. Ever since then, the autonomy or even the independence of Tibet has been hotly disputed, as well as the measures through which the ruling Chinese Communist Party governs the country. Tibetan Uprising Day marks the anniversary of a revolt in 1959.

Instead the protesters on Sunday were often exiles, many second-generation.
Their relatives in Tibet face systematic repression.

The Berlin speakers accused the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) of cultural genocide. Children as young as 5 years old are sent to residential boarding schools where they are educated as Chinese, while Tibetan language and culture are forbidden.
Monasteries and convents that were destroyed in the mid-20th century and only partly rebuilt in the 1980s remain vulnerable.
The Chinese government has been building massive hydroelectric dams in Tibet. Permission from Tibetans is not asked, a reporter from Tibet.tv said at the protest in Berlin. Instead, entire villages and monasteries, dating back even to the times where Europe was in the Middle Ages, are destroyed.
Local Tibetans who protest mega-dam projects are arrested and, at times, beaten.
A-Nya Sengdra, a nomad in Qinghai province, is in the middle of a 7-year prison sentence on charges like 'provoking trouble.' In a 2020 press release from the UN's Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, experts say that he had been active for example against "illegal hunting and poaching of endangered animals."
As his prison sentence continues, friends are worried for his health.
Outside Tibet, in his Indian exile of Dharamshala, the Dalai Lama has also spoken enigmatically about his successor as spiritual leader. He is 88 years old. The reincarnation of the Dalai Lama has a spiritual dimension for Tibetan Buddhists, but the Chinese Communist Party — a secular body —wants the next Dalai Lama to be approved by them first.
But, also explaining why Tibet is seldom in news headlines, it is difficult to obtain information from within the region. Writing for the Human Rights Watch website in 2022, an expert spoke of
draconian controls on the flow of information between Tibet and the outside world *
The Heyday of International Awareness of Tibet In the 1980s and 90s and early 2000s, Tibet was a cause célèbre. Actress Sharon Stone and actor Richard Gere, who are Tibetan Buddhist, spoke out in favour of its independence. The Tibet-inspired American fantasy film The Golden Child (1986) earned $149.4 million at the box office. In 1997, two films followed: Kundun, directed by Martin Scorsese, and Seven Years in Tibet . When this reporter arrived in Germany in 2006, a string of Tibetan prayer flags crossed above a neighbourhood street. Tourists were drawn to Tibet — this has not changed: it is estimated that 15 million of them visited in 2015. But Tibet was not just famous in cultural spheres. In 1989, the Dalai Lama won the Nobel Prize for Peace.

Tenuous links exist between Tibetans in countries like Germany and Tibetans in the Tibetan Autonomous Region. But the CCP's surveillance extends beyond international borders. Telephone calls may be monitored, participation in protests by Tibetans in exile become a problem for relatives.

Surveillance within Tibet is so severe that human rights organizations and activists reported in 2022 that the CCP are gathering DNA on a large scale — of hundreds of thousands of people, including schoolchildren — to track dissidents.

The Tibet Initiative Deutschland and the Gesellschaft für bedrohte Völker, two non-governmental groups, co-organized the Berlin protest on March 10.
The Gesellschaft noted on their social media that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will travel to China in April.
In Tibetan communities in the country and abroad there are conflicting opinions on how to resist the Chinese Communist Party. Peacefully, through classic forms of protest? Through self-immolation?

A speaker from the Tibet Initiative Deutschland described his group's campaign to persuade municipalities across Germany to raise the flag of Tibet over their town halls for Tibetan Uprising Day in solidarity. Over 400, he said, had agreed.
Efforts at the federal level by the German chancellor, foreign minister, and others on behalf of minorities' civil and political rights, however, are apparently often undermined by German corporations.
A representative of the Gesellschaft für bedrohte Völker told the crowd in front of the German Foreign Ministry yesterday:
Corporations doing business within China — the German foreign ministry reports in its China-Strategie publication that there are 5,000 of these — lobby for silence, fearing financial losses.

Post-Bailout America
Right, I never told the second part of the story.
In case you’re just joining us, America has just spent the 2030s in the depths of the Polycrisis until China had to bail us out to keep the world economy from crashing yet again.
It would make for such a nice, clean dividing line between the generations - “America went crazy and ate itself, and then the Bailout happened and everything got better” - but it was a long, complicated, and violent process. It was also the origin of the Global Logistics Network.
There is an old saying that all empires are accidental. Such was the case of the GLN - China was so busy celebrating their victory in the Second Cold War that it took them a minute to realize America was now a massive bone in their throat. There had always been a master plan behind the Bailout: even with light controls over both ends of the Chinese-American market, China could manage their gradual transition to a service economy by fiddling with the levers whenever there was an imbalance between production and consumption. There were a couple problems though:
1. even with the modern internet and AI tech, this would require a mind-boggling amount of constant international coordination,
2. the enormous task of managing most of the world economy had been dropped into the lap of a couple of Qingdao-based construction firms,
3. insurrections were already brewing in America, but we’re gonna put a pin in that for a minute.
The GLN emerged as a hasty attempt to make the process easier, taking all of the shipping and production systems previously owned by major American corporations and just kinda duct-taping them together and hoping it would work. On paper it was under direct management of the CCP, which now stood for the Chinese China Party - winning the Second Cold War made China start to go a little crazy, with an immediate rise in nationalism and a lot of rhetoric to the effect of “now that the Century of Humiliation is over it’s time to reclaim our rightful status as the unquestionable global hegemon.” Party officials started competing with each other to see who could troll America the hardest.

on paper, the GLN was just another part of the Chinese government, akin to a second Belt and Road Initiative, but this was exposed as a polite fiction during the Sheriff Insurrections.
So remember that pin I mentioned a minute ago? Well, this is that. Sheriffs across America - ‘sheriff’ here is shorthand for local police officers, right-wing militias, modern rural gentry, doomsday preppers, and actual sheriffs (but I repeat myself) - Sheriffs across America launched rebellions attempting to ‘resist China and the GLN’ and ‘regain their local power.’ In reality most of these rebellions took place in rural areas that were far away from any GLN activities, and if you scratched the surface of their rhetoric they’d admit that it was because they just really hated Chinese people.
Still, as the violence and chaos from the Sheriff Insurrections spread from town to town, the GLN began independently hiring mercs military contractors to protect construction crews, and small skirmishes regularly broke out between the contractors and sheriffs.
This put the Chinese government in a bind: they could either let the GLN operate as an independent organization, which would destroy all those grand plans of economic control and unleash an unprecedented new psuedo-state upon the world, or they could continue claiming ownership of the GLN, which would mean that China was kinda sorta technically launching a ground invasion on foreign soil. The Chinese government blinked, and the rest is history.
Anyway, the sheriffs lost. Badly. As a brief aside, far be it from me to revel in punishment and violent revenge, but if one wishes to take a moment and imagine a montage of bloated, out-of-shape sheriffs fumbling with their tacticool handguns before getting vaporized by actual professionals, well, I wouldn’t judge.
And anyway, it’s nice to find a silver lining to things like that. Cause uh. Those goddamn sheriffs probably set us back another decade. The way that the rest of America was pretty cool with the GLN taking over makes a lot more sense when you remember the alternatives.
I mean, yeah, there were the economic impositions, gas and meat and plastic got a lot more expensive, but it was a small price to pay.
And yeah, there would occasionally be scandals, like when the GLN allegedly tried to break the remaining power of the conservative evangelicals by infiltrating religious cults and encouraging mass suicides, or the-
some nice men have politely informed me that I should immediately end this post. Bye everyone, see you next time!
