THE CHARIOT OF DEATH(1851) by THÉOPHILE SCHULER
The painting is inspired by medieval and early Renaissance Dances of Death, especially HANS HOLBEIN THE YOUNGER'S. Similar to earlier paintings, SCHULER depicts people of all ages and occupations, including the Pope, the King, the young mother (reconstructed from the artist’s sister), the fool, the poet, the sick man, the lawyer, the murderer, the Indian, the Arab, and the young Napoleon... all victims of death.
A special emphasis is placed on artists (among them DANTE and a self-portrait of SCHULER), who are at the top of the pyramidal composition, and on FRENCH revolutionaries, with whom SCHULER had empathized.
The angel of death is in the centre of SCHULER'S painting, a young, beautiful, but cold-faced young woman with black hair, black wings, driving a chariot while looking directly at the viewer.
The other personification of Death is the skeleton in a shroud in the lower right-hand corner of the painting. The skeleton grabs an executioner with his right hand and drives the WANDERING JEW away with his left hand, which is a typical ANTI-JUDAISM motif.
On the opposite side of the diagonal starting bottom right with the WANDERING JEW is a wayside cross, which the chariot is only driving by. SCHULER thus raises the question of the meaning of death and alludes to the inability of religion to provide an answer.

Tarot reading: Messages from a past connection
Tumblr media
Today our reading focuses on messages from a past connection. In this reading I asked three things:
Who is this connection? What do they want you to know? Why are they sending this message?
You'll find your piles below!
$1 and $5 tip options are available on my Etsy shop! These are 100% optional, not expected, and always appreciated.

Tumblr media
Group 1:
As you can see above, this group is split into two perspectives. Based on what I have under "Who is this connection?" you should be able to determine which group you are in. I have them labelled below as well.
Who is this connection? Ten of Cups reversed & The Wheel of Fortune reversed
This is person is someone that you once saw a future with. It is likely a past romantic partner but could also be a platonic best friend that is no longer in your life. Some of you made the decision to end the relationship because there was a negative cycle that would have continued if you stayed. Others were blindsided by the ending of this relationship.
What do they want you to know?
If you ended it (group 1A): Eight of Cups reversed:
They want to let you know that they’re sorry you had to make this decision. It wasn’t fair to you. They recognize that they weren’t always present, even when you were together in the 3D.  You deserved someone who made you feel confident, secure, and excited about the relationship and where it was headed. They hope that you are on your way to fulfilling your heart’s desires.
If they ended it (group 1B): Five of Cups
This person is reaching out to tell you that they regret their decision to leave you. Their life after you hasn’t turned out the way that they expected it would. They are asking for you to forgive them for making this mistake. “I’ve learned my lesson” they’re saying.
Why are they sending this message?
1A: Seven of Pentacles & The Chariot reversed.
This person is sending this message as validation that they know you had to do what you had to do. They understand that you made the decision to allow yourself to thrive, and they want you to be able to do that.
1B: Temperance
They want you to take them back. They feel like their life is in disarray since leaving you. They keep reiterating that they’ve learned their lesson and if you get back together, they say they won’t make the same mistake again.
Tumblr media
Who is this connection? Knight of Swords reversed
The person who is sending this message is someone with a bit of chaotic energy. They can’t seem to settle down. Their mind is going a mile a minute. At the time that you knew them, they were somehow over-reliant on you while also semi-frequently blowing you off. It is someone that takes action if they benefit from it but they forget to think about who else will be impacted or if they even have the resources to complete the task.  It doesn’t seem like this connection ended on bad terms, just someone you’ve drifted apart from.
What do they want you to know? Page of Cups, Seven of Cups reversed, & Nine of Wands
They had a spark of inspiration that made them think of you and they wanted you to know you were on their mind. This person wants you to know that they still see the world with rose colored glasses, but that they’re much more logical about the shade of rose. They realized as they were thinking of you that they were kind of selfish in your relationship. They’ve since learned how to ground themselves and think of the consequences before they take action. They’ve learned how to better respect others’ boundaries. They’ve even learned to create their own!
Why are they sending this message? Six of Swords & Nine of Swords reversed
This person is sending this message to you because they want your perception of them to be more positive rather than negative. They are feeling badly about the fact that they may have made your relationship more difficult than necessary. They’re hoping that their message will refresh your vision of them so if you ever cross paths again it will make you smile.
Tumblr media
Who is this connection? Two of Wands & Knight of Pentacles
This person feels like someone who you didn’t have a long connection with but it was still really meaningful. It gives me strong mentor vibes. They worked with you to determine your hopes and dreams and how to reach them. They helped you recognize that the routine of life is necessary to make strides for something more. They opened your eyes to the opportunities of the world.
What do they want you to know? Queen of Wands reversed & Death
They are sending you this message to let you know that they see the transformations you’ve made. They know you’re undergoing some big changes and they have nothing but faith in you. They want to remind you that you have the power to turn limitations into opportunities. They also want to tell you that it’s okay to let go of whatever is making you resistant to the change that is occurring right now. It doesn’t make you any less capable.
Why are they sending this message?
There is a decision that you’re trying to make and you’re struggling to decide what is the best way to go. When you make one decision you think about the second option and then wonder if that’s the better route. This person knows that making tough decisions is hard. They hope hearing from them will help make it a little easier.
Tumblr media
Who is this connection? Nine of Coins
This person is/was a strong feminine presence in your life (femininity is not specific to gender). They were an independent, free spirit who put in the work for their abundance. While they lived with some luxuries others could only dream of, they were also quite simple. They appreciated the beauty of the world – flowers, fresh cut grass, and picnics by the lake. This is someone you really look up to.
What do they want you to know? The Tower reversed & Queen of Cups
This person wants you to know that big changes are coming in your life. It may feel chaotic, confusing, and cause you to question your life’s purpose. The reason they want to give you this heads up is so that you can prepare to treat yourself with compassion. They want to tell you to keep listening with your heart. Never change who you are. Even if remaining authentic seems impossible or makes you feel like the odd one out, it will never lead you astray. This person wants to remind you that being a good human is far more important than people give it credit for. Continue this through the mess and you’ll always come out on top.
Why are they sending this message? Six of Swords
The main reason is to prep you for whatever is about to change. I’m sorry that there isn’t more information on WHAT is about to change. I even pulled a clarifier (seven of pentacles) and it talks about sustainable choices & long term investments. Your person wants you to start the act of self-compassion NOW so that it is easier when the time comes.

I was talking with a friend the other day and she was telling me about how my old DnD module Tarot art was something she still loved, and I genuinely forgot all about it haha. I realized I never put it all in one place so, I thought I would make a post. I made these when I was right out of college and getting into the DnD gaming scene at a local gamestore, and a couple of DMs were writing a set of modules themed around Tarot/The Deck of many things, and they very kindly commissioned me to make some artwork for that. This was probably my first real commission project I ever did, it was a good learning experience, and I enjoyed the creative back and forth with the DMs brainstorming ideas of how to represent the content of the adventure in the cards :) I don't recall if they ever finished the story completely, but their adventures are still up on DM's Guild for anyone curious [X]

God I wish my brain didn't shut down the moment I try to actually write down anything about my OCs/ideas/etc. I've got some freaks knocking around in here y'all would go wild for.
#My personal blorbo Asherah began as a knockoff Marika but boy she's a lot more now#orphan raised as a sacrificial priestess to the Sun/Heaven's Firstborn#finagled her way into being high priestess and kept the Sun at bay by making herself invaluable and sacrificing the other priestesses#which she never forgave herself for#she also sacrificed giant Kingdom Death style white lions which she would eventually kind of take up as her personal symbol/totem#uses a plucky barbarian hero who somehow managed to do the impossible and downed the leader of the invading faeries#which earned him an audience with the Sun#(who was going to eat him)#instead Asherah and the priestesses (along with the Stars who are cousins of the gods who got the short end of the stick) set a trap#and she and Ansu (the hero guy) trap/weaken the Sun in its own chariot/ship and slaughtered it (with the ghosts of the priestesses/lions)#then drove the chariot to heaven to threaten God itself into actually respecting humanity (instead of viewing them as prayer cattle)#bathing in the ichor of the Sun made them both Immortal immortal#as in can't die ever bc they're barred from the afterlife and infused with incorruptible divine light#They had a brief romance and a political marriage but neither actually want it#but they're undying and keep running back into each other#They both dealt with immortality poorly#Asherah became obsessed with legacy and control so that she would *never* be victimized like that again#nor would her children (so long as they do what she says)#and Ansu wants nothing more than to escape the destiny as hero king but due to being a basically normal guy/“guy” who killed two gods#fate has it out for Ansu#This was like ten thousand years before the modern day#basically all of the settings history has been these two assholes and their immediate family causing problems

and then no one said anything about the fact that if i watched ONE MORE episode tenax pulls a "i'm not angry i'm just disappointed i'm hurt" about scorpus signing with the white faction.
#do you see the vision here <- guy who has a watch rate of one episode per month#oh the implications of scorpus not being there for tenax in his time of need... the death of the child who is not but is symbolically their#is that a separate fic completely yes but it is ALSO in some ways a divorce fic. tenax like i needed you but scorpus also needing him#OH MY GOD THEY LITERALLY DO SAY FELIX WAS HIM and i can do SO much with the concept of a “stray”. oh please. please strays instead of rats#one knife to the ribs one fixed race one apartment board THAT'S A STORYLINE BABY RISE OR DIE THE ROMAN WAYYYYYY#i do see your calla/tenax storylines i do. i could be swayed but we are not here for that currently this is the same as the chariot racing#like i KNOW what i said about the gold faction representing everything that scares scorpus a dream he never thought they'd reach#and then to have it ripped away now he no longer even has the dream untarnished i do understand. which is why the “i'm disappointed”#kills me even MORE because it shows he gets it. like on some level he does understand why scorpus had to but it's his pride that's wounde#so to continue from what i WAS saying with:#sets the bar so low because how else would tenax love him (as if tenax would not do the same thing if he lost) and they have even MORE#questionable celebratory reward sex. yes i assigned scorpus a degradation/praise kink the world works in wondrous ways don't question it#scorpus/tenax#those about to die#tenax making sure to care for the kids is what's killing me too because i REALLY want to draw a parallel with scorpus making sure he takes#care of the prostitutes. yes he's a notorious hedonist yes he has a lot of sex but he always pays well doesn't he. over-well. he pays too#much and ends up in debt he pays enough to buy girls freedom. so that they only have to if they want to. it gets him a reputation sure AND#it gets whole houses of girls under his (and therefore tenax's) protection. you can't bruise her up; that's scorpus' favorite girl.#she can charge more for being favored. he can pay for massive parties where no one else is invited and if he falls asleep midway drunk#off his ass after a race the girls would never say. they still get paid. if tenax comes to watch and give instructions they'd never say.#if tenax tells them all to leave and it's just him and scorpus in the golden room and all the girls see before they shut the door#and latch it behind them is scorpus on his knees in the soft plush cushions with tenax offering him grapes one by one from his fingertips#like a favored concubine instead of the champion whose laurels are tilted on his head they won't say a word. not even when the noise#inside the room continues for long after the hour runs out the girls still stand watch until it's quiet and then crawl back in around where#scorpus is alone in the big wrecked bed with a smear of blood or wine on his mouth who could say. certainly they wouldn't.#no matter what they still get paid. whether they did the work to wreck him or not.#ANYWAY#they take care of the selves they couldn't protect is what i'm trying to say. for tenax it's the child he was/scorpus it's the body he sold#only he hasn't stopped having to sell it. & i guess as we're learning with the extortion tenax is still a child running from a burning hous

I know it's going to be a while for me to jump back to the Nexomon tag when the next chapter for my fic drops (and believe me, that's going to take a while), there's been a semi-crazy theory I've been going over since I was thinking of weaseling it into the fic (especially during the NexoLords Frozen Tundra arc) since it's something that doesn't seem to make sense in hindsight.
Namely with the NexoLords' attempt of reviving Omnicron, and even the earlier run-in with the goons holding a bunch of bomb-experts hostage and possibly planning to use the dynamite for their own plan...What if before the Guild stopped them in their tracks, what if they had a previous attempt to revive Omnicron, failed, and were trying to cover their tracks is the second time went bust? What if the NexoLords accidentally created a Tyrant that was nothing like the great King of Monsters but the heir of Omnicron's heir the first time around?
(Minor spoilers for Micromon, major spoilers for Nexomon 1, post-N1, Nexomon Extinction, and a bunch of rambling/theory crafting below)
TL;DR: Reverse doomsday cult in Frozen Tundra "accidentally" create a monster beyond their comprehension, abandoned it at Palmaya and perpetuate the cycle of neglect Omnicron started with his "weakest child" Metta, the one true heir to the King of Monsters...Then both their plans gets ruined by a blue-haired kid.
Like I made as a joke but already plausible theory, Omnicron's youngest kid Metta (the glass pinata with a titanium ego) would've been considered the king's heir due to his moveset following every bit of his power over all elements at once. But given Metta's (gestures wildly at everything) and not immediately putting the fear of Nexo-God onto humanity, he was ignored and cast aside as the lesser of Omnicron's children...Of course, until everything that happens before and after Nexomon 1. Apart from Metta being murked from Extinction's story due to the dev not wanting to develop his character further (or also from how congested the story is already with all the protags/antagonists); there are plenty of little easter eggs that still show Metta's influence on the world long into the Tyrant War and up until N:E's story. Like him previously making a resurrection machine to revive Omnicron and his siblings and his teacher/unofficial father-figure Malk having a database in a variety of "Nexomon" similar but unknown to the public (Micromon/Pixekai Project); ultimately leading to the NexoLords (and Lobo the ex-Guild Grandmaster) finding the machine's blueprint and Amelie and Logan finding the database and extracting the info to create a anti-Tyrant weapon to topple the war in their favor and end the mindless violence once and for all. And all of this was in the Frozen Tundra, mind you, and most likely in Metta's old home or in Omnicron's Tower/Tomb; though I'm all on the former being the case :).
Circling back to the NexoLords, obviously assuming they had a chance to revive Omnicron and "restore the world's order" with their new blueprints, jumped straight into building/testing out the machine in the tower where Omnicron was once slain long long ago. Maybe they used a Nexomon egg as the catalyst, maybe gathered some residual energy in the ancient site no sane person dared to venture to; but the Nexomon they got was nothing any of them had expected. It was something human-like but not, a Tyrant but not, and a Nexomon with stars in their eyes and a bright smile against the harsh and destructive world around them...
Tumblr media
-That's right, this was a Byeol theory rant all along! And there's nothing you can do to stop me now!! >:D To try and make a more long story short, it makes some sense to me if the NexoLords (and by extension Lobo) made Byeol in their first and only known attempt to revive the doggo dad himself (going heavy in the copium since Omnicron's soul was completely destroyed after N1), so they had to work with what they had even if they had no idea what kind of ancient/primordial Tyrant they're channeling to achieve "world peace". Besides, even if Lobo was the ex-Guild leader and had every chance to read up on Omnicron's history, who wants to bet he had no idea that Metta existed if he was never considered a threat in the first place in the past? After all, Omnicron was a Normal-type and had power over all the elements, so why would he have a Normal-type kid as well? All of his children were killed off by Ulzar, so they had to go for the source of all Nexomon, the Normal-type monster, that's the most obvious choice! (/s) If that then applies to Lobo accidentally making Metta's Tyrant, then why is Byeol found in Palmaya and not Omnicron's Tower and/or the Frozen Tundra? Simple, the NexoLords really didn't want their token Tyrant being a baby cherub bird-thing and totally not Omnicron, so they dumped him at the one place that's "Tyrant-free" and getting the little guy as far away from their base of operation as possible.
But that's still a bit ironic, you know? Metta, abandoned by his father and siblings for not putting humanity under his thumb, eventually becomes the strongest Nexomon tamer in the world (aka the Nexolord) and putting together a plan to revive his dad to destroy humanity once and for all (and finally be his dad's special little boy :). Then there's Byeol, abandoned by a man with an Omnicron mask and his Children of Omnicron-styled lackeys for not being the true King of Monsters and ending the Tyrant War without anymore bloodshed; (fic-wise) becoming a beacon of hope in Palmaya and exploring the world helping those in need and avoiding Tyrant conflicts at all cost. Cause in Byeol's strangely starry eyes, his idea of world peace is for everyone to be nice and get along, human and Nexomon, simple as that.
Whether or not it if the NexoLords knew their "Tyrant" was being raised to be a goody-two-shoes is up to debate; but I really wanted to figure out someway to explain Byeol's existence other than "he's just a post-story legendary just because" or following the series' gimmick of using post-story 'mon for the next game, but the thought itself is pretty funny to me.

Great now I'm thinking about Clarisse and Michael again.
We know from Michael's interaction with Percy later at Williamsburg Bridge that after Clarisse still refused to join the fight after getting the chariot, that he said some "choice words"
Knowing him, probably cussed her out a bit gdgdg
But honestly, I'm imagining him also calling her out on caring too much about her pride than lives
Because, for all the fighting to keep the chariot,we don't really know what was happening between getting the chariot and BoM. Other than Beckendorf's death.
And we see Michael's pride isn't something that he's completely obsessed with. If anything, his pride seems to be centered more on his cabin than himself. We don't know what it took to get the chariot, but I'm sure his cabin fought hard in the battle. Of course he'd want to keep it, his siblings earned that.
Clarisse's seems a little more focused on her own pride or the image of her cabin. She led the battle, so she thinks that the Chariot should be hers. Despite the fact they probably wouldn't have the Chariot if the Apollo cabin hadn't taken it, and as archers a flying Chariot is much more suited to their fighting style.
For how people talk about Michael, even in the books, he doesn't seem to be on the same level of attitude/aggression as Clarisse.
I think he just matches what he's given.
Clarisse is the one who started the fight with the chariot. That's why Annabeth specifically says she'll come to her senses. Because the Apollo cabin are just defending what's their's, maybe aggressively but they have even Chiron supporting that the chariot should be their's. Michael is being more on the defensive in a loud way. It's why no one goes to him and tells him to just give into Clarisse, heck Percy assumes Michael would still have the chariot during BoM. No one wants to just let Clarisse run over the Apollo cabin's achievements. Especially not Michael who's only been Head Counselor for a year.
Yet, Michael is the first to step away from it. But he doesn't let Clarisse just get by with still putting her pride first. He gives her choice words, likely out of lot of emotion, then just leaves.
And he dies. He dies defending Manhattan and his peers against Kronos. He let's Percy push him out of the way on Olympus, he doesn't fuss other than a sarcastic comment when Percy pretty much has Annabeth take over organizing his cabin. He let's Percy make the calls once he's on the scene, continuing to fight when he was just about to retreat. Than retreating when Percy actually orders a retreat. Only to come back when he sees Percy on his own after Annabeth is hurt.
He dies making sure Kronos doesn't get past them. Armed with nothing but one arrow and an idea.
And when Clarisse finally gets to the Battle, it's because her cabin and Silena left without her. She goes berserk on battle more so out of grief than duty.
I really do wish we got to see her reaction to learning about Michael's death/disappearance. Obviously she's had guilt over Silena's death. But she got to say goodbye. She got to be there for her and avenge her.
The last words she heard from Michael was likely him cussing her out.
There's one song I think about when I think about their relationship and it's Allies or Enemies by The Crane Wives
What happens now? Do we have another go? Do we bow out, and take our separate roads? I'll admit I've had my doubts But I want to be let in, not out But I want to be let in, not out Are we allies or enemies? This will be the death of me This will be the death of me All is fair in love, and war But I can't fight with you anymore This will be the death of me
Idk, just something about it hits. Really I don't think Michael necessarily hated Clarisse, I think he was disappointed and upset. And I feel like Clarisse would take his death hard, at least feel pretty guilty. Especially if she was close to him before hand. Heck even if she had just been close to Lee, she would feel lot of guilt for not being there to help his siblings.
And even more so. The last words they ever shared was out of anger.
And she'll never get to apologize.
