I don't think Ive seen anyone breakdown this scene, but hi I really wanted to talk about Grian's characterization so far in volume 2 starting with his scene with HG in the latest chapter and where I think they're going with his character in DDVAU.

To star this off I want to talk about how Grian views HG (save for Valentines) Its always met with disdain or irritation, and I think its because of how HG presents himself to Grian, a cop, a threat. This means there's always a level of caution met with him and mild irritation.

So when Grian wakes up to HG in his room in ch18 its cold. There's this wall already up between the two because of how HG treated him in chapter 15. He was threatened. So already the second he's awake he's on the defense, he wont let HG get to him, hes in control of his emotions.

Or well, this WOULD'VE worked until he realizes HotGuy has interrupted the one thing Grian could distract himself with. Grian went for the DS to avoid dealing with Hotguy and i'm going to assume Grian's done this before when he visited. So being cut off is something Grian wasn't expecting, being forced to confront Hotguy in his space-

Hes genuinely mad.

(the fact that Grian has this red hue over him, the expression turns from this casual oh you annoy me to oh you have actually genuinely pissed me off is so clear in the way Doody draws Grian that I wanted to point out because LORD THE CHILLS I HAD)

But Grian lashes out, his reaction is explosive because he was thrown off, its such a quick moment also, something as simple as his DS being covered and being forced to deal with Hotguy was the breaking point and LORD WAS HIS REACTION INTENSE.

He's genuinely upset.

He's frozen, hes curled up faced down with fists punching the bed because that man has been pushed too far. Hotguy has repeatedly since the incident, been in Grian's space whether he's wanted it or not and its not letting Grian breathe. They do note a few times Grian didn't ask Hotguy before this to leave but I think that this was brewing over time and again its an impulsive reaction- the DS being obstructed isnt the issue here and it seems random for him to be so angry over it but I think this was built up over time from the stress Grian's been experiencing. Hotguy reminds Grian of the school, of Mother Spore and the trauma that he was left with. Its no wonder he just wants a break from it.

And I think Hotguy in that moment realized he went too far.

( I want to note as well that Grian doesnt actually move until Hotguy speaks, he's braced and tense. He's waiting for a bad reaction for his lash out)

But Hotguy calmly agrees and offers to leave leaving Grian stunned because he was listened to. Hotguy understood him.

Now here's where i'm going to pull up a comparison I realized about Grian in chapter 14. This is not the first time he has impulsively pushed someone away, because don't forget he's done this to Jimmy.

He cuts the conversation off before it can get anywhere, its abrupt.

Something I've noticed with Grian is when he pushes both of them away theres this moment of pause, where he wont look at them. He doesnt want to see what their reaction is. Between the two scenes I find it interesting that with Jimmy, Grian manages to gather the strength to carry on his point, he looks to Jimmy after a moment of composing himself and is firm if not emotionally tired. He's scared of Jimmy's reaction but he needed to put that line down. With Hotguy like i've said, his reaction was unexpected, its abrupt and its scary for him. He's just yelled at an emerald solider (heck, the HEAD of the emerald soliders) to leave him alone quite aggressively, I think Grian kept his head down because he was waiting for the aftermath.

Its so interesting to me because in both these scenes, Jimmy and Hotguy were unintentionally pushing themselves into Grian's space, both were made from good intentions, but it wasn't what Grian wanted and the fallout afterwards leaves them at a loss for words before composing themselves and trying to make the situation light once more.

Now, Im about to throw you all a curveball and say that I genuinely think that DDVAU is trying to hint to us that Grian has BPD (borderline personality disorder)

Why do I think this? We're only a couple chapters in Volume 2 you must be asking me.

And well, I think already there are some foundations being put down in front of us starting with: Attachment Issues.

Have you all wondered WHY Grian pushed Jimmy away in chapter 14 when we have seen time and time again how protective Grian is over Jimmy? He snapped at Hotguy at the mear mention of Jimmy being accused, He freaks out when he sees Jimmy got hurt in the hospital. Both are very visiral and panicked reactions:

And yet, when he sees Jimmy was hurt and Jimmy offers to be beside Grain to preen his wings, he outright refuses, and lord you can TELL Grian wasn't happy doing that.

When he gets what he wants and Jimmy backs off? He's devastated.

I think Grian is afraid of letting Jimmy be that close to him. For what reason? Im not too sure yet but this seemed very much a spur of the moment reaction- a moment of fear from Grian.

I believe that Grian is a very emotive person and at rapid paces, its quite subtle but in chapter 17 theres a moment where Grian pulls away for just a page, the second Jimmy offers again to take care of him Grian is back to that defensive wall, but its not for too long either because Grian is instantly back to being relaxed.

Grian isnt as subtle with his emotions like Scar is, he is very much an open book and while hes better at withholding them when he feels in control of a situation it shows more when he isnt:

And I think its so important to stress why this is a thing in volume 2 and not in volume 1. Because Grian seemed to be perfectly fine right?There was no issues.

This is because Grian has been majorly thrown back.

He got possessed by the spore creature, trapped Jimmy and the school and tried to kill Hotguy which he doesn't even remember, he just has brief moments of paranoia over not remembering what he did but hearing about it from everyone else. His wings are out, Hotguy KNOWS he's an avian, he's seen Jimmy hurt by what he thinks is his actions and has had Hotguy accuse Jimmy infront of him.

He's being pressured to comply with Hotguy lest he wants everyone to know hes a mutant or worse a witch which can change everything.

This man is STRESSED. Majorly so, both being pushed to his limits body wise since he was shot at and also thrown against walls numerous of times and had the spores literally eat away his insides causing his wings to be in a state of distress. But also he is under intense emotional stress seen from the feathers on Grian's face in chapter 14, he doesnt like not knowing what happened to him and Hotguy again has pushed him past his brink.

again why do I think its BPD? I just said that Grians under a lot of stress, its understandable that hes going to lash out. But i heavily think its within the context of him pushing away Jimmy and the newest scene of chapter 1 8 thats really making me lean towards something is going on. That reaction was intense and I think we're going to be getting more insight into Grian as the chapter comes.

Because, he's successfully pushed away Hotguy.

I wonder where thats going to lead us.

As they never met or interacted on screen, I'm so curious about what inspired this pair and this dynamic.... Like what made you think of it in the first place🤔💭

Hiii and hello! Thank you so much for your question (and your kind words about my fic!), @varda-star-queen, and no worries, I am always down for talking about silverscars! :D

Starting with the easiest bit - while I am very flattered by the thought, I didn't invent the ship nor its name! The first fic that I am aware of about these two was written by @plotdesigner and is called 'Hand in Gauntleted Hand'. The shipname itself came after, I got asked this question by someone else before and collected my 'research' in this post. (situations like these are when I am glad for my tagging system! XD)

As to why I ended up thinking of this pairing and began to ship them, and write about them, I think I saw so many parallels and similarities between them that got me; they both died the same season (though of course I still hope they might bring Adar back in the future), both of them through Sauron and rather painfully and tragically. They both don't have partners, they are leaders of their people, manipulated and used for Sauron's means. They both ended up resisting and defying him in some way, too, whether by (seemingly) killing him and freeing the uruk in the past, or by refusing Sauron's demands, and even Adar's decision to turn away from war and violence can be seen as resistance imo.

There are also differences that I found interesting; Celebrimbor likely lived through a sped up version of (some of) what Adar went through in the past under Sauron. One is the sole heir of an influential, famous elven family, the last of his line, the other is a nameless, former elf with no ancestors that we know of, first of his line, with many children, whether literally or figuratively. (To me it almost feels like a 'past and future' presentation.) Celebrimbor was named by his parents, Adar chose his own name. Celebrimbor is held in high esteem and founded his own city, Adar has to fight for the right to survive and have a home for his children, leading him to found Mordor. Adar founds Mordor in s1, Celebrimbor has his home destroyed by the end of s2.

(Also, I wasn't super versed in Silm lore when I started the series, but learning more about Celebrimbor's family history has only added more points to this; both of them must have lived through countless battles in Arda, perhaps even experienced the same ones from different 'sides'? And there are multiple references to Feanor in the series, with Celebrimbor's actions and deeds often being weighed and compared against those of his grandfather. Meanwhile, Adar is held responsible for and associated with Sauron and his cruelties. Influences they, likely, cannot so easily separate from and try to overcome, by besting Feanor and disavowing Sauron respectively.)

It's an intriguing combination of similarities and differences, to me at least.

And on a more personal level, my thought was that, if they met, a post-Sauron Celebrimbor might look at Adar and see the things he himself has just suffered and survived, and might therefore find a level of understanding and empathy for Adar that other elves might not reach; after all, if he has been manipulated and driven to create the Rings of Men despite his better judgement, someone else could have similar (and worse) happen to them as well, couldn't they? (He readily worked with Elrond and the dwarves, didn't have any reservations against Halbrand, showed understanding towards Galadriel.)

Meanwhile, Adar might see (a version of) his own past reflected at him, similar to what he did with Galadriel in the tent, though with Celebrimbor's experiences being different than hers. I imagine Adar might be able to help Celebrimbor move on from and overcome his trauma and guilt due to his own experiences and knowledge, give him guidance, and an understanding other elves may not be able to give Celebrimbor, due to not having endured the same thing.

I suppose that is the main thing that drew me in - in a sense, their individual experiences with Sauron serve as a connection between them, even if the two never meet on screen. (One might even argue that Sauron pits them directly against each other, via the siege.) Therefore, these experiences might work as a base from which they could build mutual understanding, empathy, and perhaps even more.

(Which, I also like the implications of that in general - that people who come from very different walks of life can recognize their similarities, set aside their differences, find comfort and connection in, and empathy for, each other after surviving awful things, help each other heal, and become stronger through this mutual kindness, affection, friendship (and more).)

And, as for what intrigues me about them being in a relationship - I think it is again a mix of similarities and differences. They both have elven roots. They are both leaders to their people and care about them, they have their own realms (though at different states, with Celebrimbor's either being finished or destroyed, and Adar's in its infancy), they are very driven when it comes to what they consider important. Celebrimbor is a craftsman, Adar has mostly known the fight for survival and is a fighter. Celebrimbor is royalty, Adar is not. Adar might be significantly older than Celebrimbor, the two have very different experiences of what happened through the ages.

It provides a lot of potential - for growth, understanding, drama, banter, humor, fluff, angst, healing, character studies, friendship, romance...

(As a sidenote, I also gravitate more towards m/m ships, which likely factors into this. Plus I think the fact that neither of them have canon partners in the series might have made me go "Oh look, wouldn't it be neat if they had someone as well?")

That being said, I could likely ramble even more. There is just a lot about silverscars that speaks to me, both when it comes to the individual characters and their potential as a ship. I hope that answered your question? I'd love to know!

okay slight KCD1 ramble post with mild spoilers but,,,, i just reported to Radzig at the lookout post at Talmberg after the whole ordeal at Merhojed and their little conversation was so so lovely, and i adore all the complicated conversations about fate, God, and all of that, but i've said it before on my streams that i have a theory about Radzig and Henry. no doubt everyone already knows and shit but i've avoided most spoilers thus far and have also avoided the character wiki pages so, if i'm right don't laugh and if i'm wrong, also don't laugh.....

i genuinely believe that Henry is Radzig's biological son. not only have i had my suspicions since the first fucking cutscenes with them together, but Radzig ends the conversation (with Henry already walking away and out of hearing distance) with "good luck, son". NOW, this could just be an endearment considering how gentle he's been with Henry thus far out of respect for Martin - they clearly have a history and i definitely think there's more to Martin and Anna (i've adopted that name for her) than meets the eye, especially Martin because what the hell was he doing before all of this - and that wouldn't be entirely out of character for him at this stage, especially now we've cleared out Pribyslavitz, but also???? he's never called him son before??? he calls Henry lad and boy all the time but he's never said son, and there was something in his gaze and tone that just hit me. idk this might be such an obvious thing if i'm right and i've been saying and thinking it for a little while, but man this just solidifies it more for me and if that's the case,,,, it explains so much about the way Henry is treated. if the other lords have any inkling as to who Henry actually is (maybe not Divish, but Hanush might since he and Radzig are quite close *ahem*) then that would also explain why they're as lenient with him as they are. YES i know he's under service and that allows for some leniency but bro, Henry has got to be the luckiest peasant in Bohemia with the way he's wormed his way up and into the position he's currently at, which seems a little too convenient to me. anyway.

sorry for the ramble i just really wanted to get this on paper so to speak, so i can come back later when or if i find out if i'm correct :') i truly adore how kind Radzig is with Henry - stern but caring, proud and not afraid to tell him as such, he's always giving him positive reinforcement even when he's chastising him or when Henry has done something impulsive. yeah.

WHAT I HOPE HAPPENS IN SEASON 7

Alright buckle up because this might get long. (also if somebody else has already made this theory I apologise)

To start, let's recap a few Important Events in season 6.

Rayla promises to kill Callum if he gets controlled by aaravos again.

Callum does the cleansing thing, and is told that if he does dark magic again he will be consumed by it.

We already know aaravos can control dark mages.

It's been said many times by many people that there is a lot of foreshadowing for Callum using dark magic again in season 7 to save Rayla, and therefore 'being consumed by it' and/or falling victim to Aaravos's control once more. In this scenario, Rayla has promised to kill him (and we all know Rayla refuses to break her promises).

There's a lot of takes on this. Some people say that Rayla will, for once, break her promise and refuse to kill Callum; but I frankly hope this DOESN'T happen, because i think it'll be wildly unsatisfying.

I've seen other people point out that there is one remaining Quasar Diamond, and it'd be an INSANE chekovs gun (or whatever the phrase is) to leave that unused. The general theory goes like this:

Callum uses dark magic to save Rayla

Aaravos controls Callum

Rayla kills Callum

Rayla uses the Quasar Diamond to bring Callum back to life

But here's the thing (and correct me if I'm wrong, ofc) isn't the Quasar Diamond unable to revive someone who's actually passed on into the afterlife? Aaravos was stuck in a prison similar to the coins, just made with primal magic, and the COINS were explicitly stated to be a plane between life and death where spirits got trapped. When Rayla's parents passed on, the left they coins but didn't return to mortality like Runaan.

So for the singular Quasar Diamond to revive a dead Callum, something ELSE would have to happen first...

Here's what I imagine in my dreams of Season 7:

At some point in the season, maybe Rayla or Callum has learnt the spell that Viren used to trap people in the coins (we know Callum has studies dark magic...I find it easy to believe that he could've written down the notes for it in his spellbook). I'm pretty sure the Staff of Ziard is required for this spell, so lets just say we have that as well. This will come back in a bit.

Rayla is in some dire moment, about to die, and Callum remembers their conversation at the ship - he remembers promising to choose the greater good over Rayla if it came to it. But he just can't. And somehow, who knows how, he has the opportunity to free her...but only by using Dark magic a third time.

It's no choice for him, of course. He does the spell and Rayla is saved but now Callum is corrupted for good and Aaravos possesses him again (or he just does something villain-arc-y idk). So now Rayla has to fulfill HER promise and even though she's beyond angry and heartbroken with Callum breaking his, she's not about to stoop to his level.

There's a dramatic-ass fight scene between warrior and mage - spells flying everywhere, Rayla battling with swords and arrows and all sorts. But eventually she overpowers him (because of course she does) - shoots an arrow through his heart or stabs him in the chest or something like that. And as he's there, bleeding out in her arms from a wound she inflicted, she gets an idea. A horrible, awful idea but its her only chance to fix this.

Without thinking (because how are you meant to think AT ALL when you're one true love soulmate is DYING-) she picks up the Staff of Ziard, finds the place in Callums book that lists the spell, and digs Runaans blank coin out of her pocket.... and suddenly Callum's dying body is gone and the coin is no longer blank and Rayla. Has. Done. Dark. Magic. GASP-

Anyway no idea what would happen after that but I just really like the idea of Rayla using dark magic and understanding Callum being unable to let her die. I feel like it'd be a GREAT moment and a really confronting and horrifying thing for her and daaammnnnnnn......

I think about Nagito’s death at the end of SDR2 a lot. There’s so much symbolism and meaning in it. His death reflects a lot of the other deaths from the first game, which is a cool easter egg, but the meaning of that also kind of blows my mind. 

The symbolism of how he’s embodying so much of the despair from the first game, compiled into a single death. How he’s depending on his luck to burn out every last ounce of despair from this death game, while also embodying every ounce from the last one at the same time. He - intentionally/consciously or not - is embodying as much despair as he can so he can burn it all away and bring hope. 

But most recently I’ve also been thinking a lot about the spear. 

Because there’s two major ways you can interpret Nagito’s luck cycle: either luck is a real supernatural force that exists in the DR universe, or Nagito is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Personally, I do think it’s hard to argue that everything that happens to Nagito throughout the series is totally unrelated to some greater supernatural force. But I also think it’s so tragic to think of his luck cycle as just a bunch of psychological tricks. So a little bit of this is a “what if”: even if it’s not the most likely explanation, there is a way of arguing for it and I think that’s interesting. He believes with all his heart that he’s cursed by this luck cycle. That good and bad will happen to him in extremes, in waves. Confirmation bias tells us he’ll pick out that pattern easily, searching for evidence that supports his understanding of the world, and then presenting what is essentially cherry-picked evidence to other characters. Which is often what we see of his luck cycle: the narrative he has constructed. Then, throw in how he’d subconsciously make decisions and put himself in situations that further supports his view of himself and the world. He might purposefully put himself in precarious positions when he thinks there’s bad luck due. He might do something like hang a spear above his own head. That act, metaphorical or literal, is then, also sort of his essence, isn’t it? Nagito hangs spears above him, poised to kill him, and waits for his luck - real or not - to use them. And when the spear falls, because if you keep hanging spears above your head eventually they’ll fall, he calls it intentional and purposeful. He calls it part of his luck cycle. But how much of it is really luck, and how much of it is that he’s just hanging spears and waiting? How much of it is that he really believes he deserves bad luck or pain or hurt? Honestly, we don’t know exactly if the poison killed him before the spear did. We can certainly assume it did, since Monokuma rules Nanami the killer, and because the spear was supposedly released upon Nagito’s death (and the nature of the poison). However, I think there’s enough doubt in there to argue that, even if its unlikely, the spear did kill him. Monokuma could’ve lied, there was no one and no way to prove him wrong after all. The poison could’ve weakened Nagito just enough that he wasn’t dead until the spear impaled him. 

Just, think of the potential symbolism of the fact that we can only assume- based on incomplete and biased observations - that the poison killed him. That Nagito’s luck killed him. From that biased assumption, we are led to believe his luck is cyclic and intentional. Just like everything Nagito does and says could be seen as a biased presentation of evidence that leads us to the same conclusions. But realistically we can also assume that Nagito just killed himself by hanging a spear over himself and waiting. We can also assume Nagito's luck isn't as drastic as he claims. What if, in reality, he just keeps hanging spears above him and waiting, maybe even hoping, they fall?

DGM 253.5 - More Theories.

Here I am once again with more theories, some confirmations (kinda) for some I had in the past. Refer to older posts here and here.

Also again I do honor Hoshino's wish not to post panels from the current chapter shortly after release. I will use some older chapters to refer to them here as well.

This is what I want to address this time:

Allen's hair color

Who is interested in killing a Bookman?

My view of the "Fusion"

To avoid confusion I will refer to past!Lavi as 'Junior' and the current one as 'Lavi'.

Allen's Hair color

So we had this theory before but I think it's more confirmed in Ch 253.5 that Allen's hair color indeed is now Junior's color. And I assume it's partially due the stress but mainly because Junior protected Allen due the incident with Akuma!Mana. Similar to Timothy as he first fully invoked his Innocence Allen's special connection to Innocence awakened (in before it was Apocryphos activating it, however he was able to it as the Innocence didn't listen to him during the 'Orb' time). I will come back to this point later.

Lavi's injury & Allen's awakening

We know Lavi was born 1 year after Allen & Junior fused, 7 years after this Lavi got shot (you can tell he's around that age in Ch 253.5). 11 years later he meets Allen for the first time. So the time Lavi got shot marks the time Junior got active outside the Orb again, means his spirit was able to move through the Helix of Life aka Allen must have exited the Orb at exactly that time or shortly before for Junior be able to move freely.

The Placement of the Extra-Chapter

This leads to why Hoshino placed this little Extra chapter (which she confirmed to be solve fully later on) at this point of the story. This is fully intentional as it's the bridge between the time Allen & Junior fused and the next chapter most likely going on with what happened after they exited the Orb (or going back to the current events but I kinda doubt that as we need that puzzle piece).

Past!Lavi/Junior and his attachment to the Clan

So we have a peek onto small Lavi's Bookman cloth in this chapter (also Bookman's in the Clear File Illustration above), and what do we see? The same collar and style as Junior wears until the end. So it's confirmed Junior wears his Clan outfit until the end.

He also reappears as Lavi gets shot, the connection that is implied through their right eye. We still haven't see the Bookman 'mark', Junior's got covered/removed by the scar, Lavi wears an eyepatch, Bookman uses make up.

But even with that Junior said he is no longer a Bookman, he is still emotionally attached to the Clan. My guess is that's why the current members of the Clan are so emotionally loaded (for Bookmen) in regards of their missing member.

Especially Lucia is pretty much pissed off. And she is the first one mentioning the silver hair, so Junior's hair was special even among them. And it's most likely the reason why he never picked a name for himself and stuck with Allen calling him Lavi.

Who is interested in killing a Bookman?

Another point is, Hoshino confirmed that Lavi didn't get shot by a "stray" bullet someone wanted to kill him. Someone wanted to ... have a reaction from the death of a Bookman (or his Junior).

I don't think it's that far fetched that Apocryphos tried to trigger something here. He is known for manipulating people into action by messing with their memories.

Maybe, after all the years, he was trying to trigger the Innocence Orb to burst. He was following around Allen and Junior for quite some time, and I think he is pretty much aware Junior was a Bookman. (He followed Allen and manipulated a whole circus to hate him to drive him to the point of destroying Mana, so, it's possible). As he knew the previous Noah family very well he surely met them.

As we don't know if Allen had any relatives at this point of the story it's most likely that he aimed to finally get onto the Host somehow so his options over the years ran out and he decided maybe to go this route.

It's either him or some other instance we don't know yet, the Noah at this point wouldn't just shoot a Bookman, especially with the fact they had 'sided' with the Noah back then. Bookmen are a neutral stance, there is no reason to shot one, especially a child.

My point of view/theory

I think Junior still actively protects Allen from within. I don't think they fused to a new person or that Allen will be wiped by that fact. (I have seen people ranting about Allen being degraded to being a Nea/Junior). Junior is like a guardian angel, ... i am still very found of the theory that he's the spirit within Crown Clown, with the knowledge he still can visit someone from his clan (heck how?) he was most likely also the force that helped Allen to survive Tyki's Attack and the force that kept the Innocence around Allen for Foh to find him, the force that helped against the Level 3.

Allen has changed over the years of course, as we all do. We all are a mash up of people we once knew mixed with our past self. Allen from the begin of the series doesn't exist anymore, just like us, the Readers, have changed since the series started.

if you haven't read the book, camazotz is a planet in the story that houses a mind-controlling entity called IT, that essentially brainwashes/controls all its residents (if this is a very shallow explanation I apologize, I haven't read it in a while). this is very interesting to me as the idea of an entity controlling/haunting/brainwashing people is also used in stranger things as we know with the mind flayer & vecna. to me, it seems likely that at least this title is real! at least I hope it is, because I love this book and it would be a perfect fit

"escape from camazotz" is a very interesting title too, as to me it feels like that would mean escaping some sort of purgatory or hellscape, which likely refers to the upside down in this context

Dandandan manga spoilers under cut! I have a theory.

So something really struck me with the latest page, it’s explained to us that miss Yukishiro (the girl controlling the Pygmies) was trying to steal momo’s powers with that letter opener.

Now the teacher that asked her to do that is pretty clearly saint Germain, I don’t think that’s really a debate.

But we’ve also seen him with the letter opener, or at least a similar one, in chapter 169, after his frankly weird conversation Okuran. Honestly I can’t really make out.

But what if he isn’t just after momo’s powers? What if he’s after the entire main cast’s, or at least Turbo Granny’s as well.

Just... as a treat... I want to submit further evidence for my Kokichi essay in proof that The Killing Game Busters was never meant to succeed. Screenshots from episode 46 of ShortOneGaming's v3 playthrough:

This was shortly after Kokichi revealed that Gonta was the culprit. The goal of the Killing Game Busters was to get Gonta to win so that everyone else would be mercy killed. THIS is not the actions of a person wholeheartedly going along with that plan. He is aggressively insisting that they have to look into Gonta as a suspect (which he will only continue to pull Shuichi through for the rest of the trial). That is the polar opposite of what is necessary for the Killing Game Busters to succeed. If he wanted that plan to succeed, he could have carefully used Kaito's outburst to turn the blame back onto himself.

I mean, I guess you could say that Kokichi here is specifically just trying to piss Kaito off, which is founded. The way he says "WE want to live" "stop getting in OUR way" places Kaito as an outsider. This works especially well to chip away at Kaito and Shuichi's relationship because, again, this is not long after Shuichi first said they needed to consider Gonta as a suspect, "siding" him with Kokichi in Kaito's eyes.

...But, I think there are other ways Kokichi could have done exactly that. There WERE other ways he did that. None of it would require sabotaging a very delicate plan the way he had been already for a good portion of the trial.

Also, there was another thing I noticed near the end of the trial. Every time they confirm something that Gonta did in their murder plot against Miu, Kokichi takes ownership of the idea.

Now, this could be true. In fact, I believe Kokichi did come up with the vast majority of the plan. But, it is kind of weird that he just keeps pointing out his involvement like this. It feels to me like that every time Gonta gets incriminated, Kokichi needs to pull the attention back to himself. Yes, Gonta physically carried out Miu's murder, and that's horrible, but don't forget! I, Kokichi, planned it all! I made him do it! Look at me! Hate me!

It's just another way Kokichi worked to antagonize himself in the eyes of everyone else. He couldn't let people focus on the reveal of the true culprit for too long if it meant distracting them from villainizing him.

Flowers of Liurnia, Far From Home

Or, the Tarnished goes on a photography trip throughout the Lands Between, and all for one specific flower of royal Carian blue.

This small blue flower grows plentifully in groups, on dry land or in shallow water. Whilst found extensively in Liurnia, there are small patches of found growing in other regions as well. I've noticed that they are found near exclusively in or near places associated with sorcery, with a couple exceptions.

These flowers are scarcely found in the Shadows Lands, except for two places, the Cerulean coast, where they glow with almost magical effect, and the Manus Metyr cathedral.

This got a little long so more under the cut:

All throughout the Liurnia region, the player will ride and fight through countless patches of the blue flowers in question. Both within and without the Carian Manor and the Three Sisters grounds:

in the gardens of the Academy of Raya Lucaria:

outside the Carian Study Hall, glowing vibrantly as those in the Cerulean Coast in the Shadow Lands do:

the Church of Vows, but curiously only specifically inside the church, not outside. The blue and gold flowers together likely signify the bond once made here by the Houses of the Moon and Erdtree, by Rennala and Radagon:

Outwith Liurnia, these flowers can be found in Limgrave with their red counterparts, on the road south leading to the Weeping Peninsula:

In Caelid, there is no surprise they are found growing in the Sellia town of magic, suggesting a hardiness to these flowers to be able to resist the rot:

but also in the Caelid region they can be found surrounding Lenne's Rise:

I have found the flowers in two spots so far in the Altus Plateau Leyndell region, in a shallow pool of water between the windmill pastures, close to where a lone battlemage stands watch on the rocks above;

and in the outer moat, where you fight the Dung Eater and where the death-touched (coughGodwyncough) shell crabs live:

I've yet to find in the flowers are in the Mt. Gelmir region, but it is a volcano so I doubt there would be many flowers growing there. Still, I'll check in the future.

Even in the Consecrated Snowfields there are flowers to find. Whether they are actually blue flowers just covered with frost, or white flowers with a slight blue tinge, it is difficult to discern, but evenso. I'll let you be the judge of them:

Now, about those flowers in the Shadow Lands. My search is ongoing, but obviously they are found in vast glowing quantities in the Cerulean Coast, giving the region its name. They grow in such quantities that they are likely native to the area, and merely only happen to share the appearance of their Liurnian counterparts.

The non-glowing flowers can also be found in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. In the tortoise ponds at the back:

And very specifically, growing around the grave of Yuri, son of Ymir:

So what's the point of this long flowery post? We know Ymir was once a mentor of Princess Rellana of the Carian royal family. Likely he came to the Shadow Lands as part of her entourage, either as a Carian himself or an independant researcher, we don't know when exactly he left his allegiance to the moon.

As Rellana's mentor, he would have had access to the Carian Manor, home of the royal family, and the Study Hall as well. As a learned sorcerer, he would have spent much time at the academy too. He would have likely spent much time in any one or all of these places, and travelling between the three. As an observant man he would of course have taken note of the plentiful, beautiful, blue flowers.

I like to believe that before he was sent or decided to go to the Shadow Lands, he took some of the flowers of Liurnia with him as a keepsake, and after all in the Shadow Lands were abandoned and forbidden by Marika from ever returning to the Lands Between, they were one of the few pieces of his homeland he managed to take with him. (I highly doubt those who left for holy war in the Shadow Lands knew that Marika would abandon them there. Would they honestly go if they knew?)

The flowers in the cemetery are well cared for. They and the grass around them are lively and with colour, the foliage around them the same drab lifeless colour as plantlife in lands touched by the war.

We don't know for certain if Yuri was always just a fingercreeper or once a human boy who passed away before the events of the DLC. Nevertheless Ymir loved him enough to surround him to with the flowers of Liurnia, of magic and sorcerers, of their homeland. A small patch of beauty amongst the bleakness of the land.

Hunter x Hunter: Pain Packer pt 2

so there's the idea that's been on my mind that pain packer can also feed off of feitan's emotional pain which is arguably much more potent than physical pain for him.

this point is great because i have thought about it before but now its manifested in something im going to call Pain Packer: Mortem Vindicta. aka Revenge of the Dead.

so hear me out okay. feitan is a very emotionally constipated little man and the most we've seen him show is anger and frustration. i believe this has to do with his past, specifically with his fascination in torture- which is a very different story.

emotional pain will probably only ever come if someone he cares about gets hurt or killed, and he's able to shut that pain off if the needs of the spider come first. see, feitan's willingness to sacrifice chrollo so that the troupe wouldn't suffer any more losses.

i dont doubt he mourned paku. he has her memories and her reasonings and he'll give her the respect even if he doesn't agree with her.

shalnark on the other hand or if something happened to phinks, i think he'd lose all of that rationale. i also think the more brutal the death the more he cares. since he values pain, he'd know how much it hurts to die in certain ways.

tldr: he feels very differently about shalnark's death than he does paku's or kortopi's. they both died quickly.

so mortem vindicta is him taking inventory of how the ones he cared about died. maybe even just the members of the troupe that died- since we know there were six total members that have died since its foundation. maybe even seven if we want to include sarasa. and this is a one time move that he will pull out based on all of that collective suffering.

maybe something like imitating the wounds on himself and then letting those perfectly built walls come down. the one time ever that feitan will let himself show sympathy for the fallen and it's to take the ultimate revenge on anyone of his choosing, but i feel like if he DID have this power he would choose his target wisely.

HOW it would manifest is something i did not think about but id love to hear some ideas.
