drag me down: fool for you
synopsis: you've seen it all, from family problems to being accused of cheating, and bullying... what more can you handle when the girl you love hates your guts?
warning/s: bullying, parental absence, honestly just full on perspective of y/n.
words: 1.8k
previous | next
You’ve seen it all.
The fact that your own distant relatives fight for the claims of your family’s hard work, the way your parents are always gone and going on business trips, or the very fact that the girl you like hates your guts.
Your parents decided that it would be safe never to expose you and your sister to the public unless you choose to partake in the family business. That conversation has not seen the light of day, and you choose to keep it that way. The other reason is that your very own relatives try to drag your name down. Jealousy, hunger for power, and mostly greed, was the driving factor.
Although given the circumstances, all you could do is understand your parents. The rare occurrences that they’re at home, giving you gifts from their travels ranging from books to puzzles, up until when you hit highschool they settled on giving you practical gifts, one that is the best of the best. That doesn’t mean your request for books regarding the business and law of each country they visit is looked upon. Somehow those interests made your parents provide even more than what you requested, a few lego sets so as to not make it feel as if you’re slowly becoming an adult.
It was compensation for missing your childhood years, holidays spent alone in the gigantic mansion you call home, watching home alone and wishing to do the same thing as Kevin. The definition of family is blurry when you never felt it with your own, yet you’re glad Jihyo’s family came through. All of the relatives residing within the village have collectively helped to raise you, from playing games, experiencing grazing your knee on the floor from playing chase with your cousins, and opening gifts on christmas day. Forever grateful for your relatives that wishes you nothing but peace and safety.
At the age of 10, it was as if your prayers were heard, your mother was pregnant with Hyejoo. For two years, the Parks were complete, business trips were handled by their right hand man, home cooked meals when you come home from school, and them actually helping you with your homeworks. It was bliss, you felt it being a true family, even being scolded made it feel like the real deal. Around the same time, a girl in your class had become your friend.
With the absence of your parents, it was a common topic going around that you were abandoned, an orphan, which led to bullies. Some days, it was just a few words thrown at you, but it was the first that you were cornered, the mischievous look, the scissors in their hands. Who knew grade schoolers could be dangerous. That was until a girl around your age alerted the closest teacher there was seeing the scenario slowly unfold. Luckily there was no harm done to you or else your parents would have sued the group of kids’ parents. The girl in front of you offered her hand, a soft smile yet worry was evident in her face.
“Hi. I’m Seol Yoona. What’s your name?” It was the first time you’ve heard her speak, despite sitting next to each other for days.
“Uh… my name is Park YN.” Sullyoon, your best friend, the first person you knew you could trust with your life. For years, you were together, she was keeping you safe as you provided the extra protection that is your bodyguard.
High school started, things turned for the worst, Hyejoo grew up with no parental figure, Sullyoon transferred schools, and you’re back to being alone. Weird part of it all, that was when you started showing interest in business, specifically in cafes. First year of high school consisted of doing extracurriculars, such as debate club, soccer; and going to Blueming cafe to work on brewing, baking, and the business aspect of it all. It was peace, Hyejoo kept you company at home, letting your inner child out as you took care of her.
There was something missing, a conversation you had with Jihyo. Sullyoon wasn’t there to keep you company, even if she had free time, she would stay at your place and play with Hyejoo, updating you on life. Jihyo cared for you so deeply that she was willing to help you with your dilemma without you knowing how it happened.
You never knew how Jihyo managed to convince your parents to let you transfer schools, but clearly she was doing some investigation on the students in your batch. In your second year of high school, you met Chaewon on your first day. She was older than you, a bit feisty, but she was fun to be with as you conversed about your experience in your old school. Slowly, you met Yunjin, Chaewon’s best friend and partner in mischief, the first friend you met who can speak english. Lastly was Kazuha and Eunchae, you were invited to lunch by Yunji. You were glad that orientation gave you a chance to spend your first week with the four.
Although you sometimes visited cafe to hone your brewing and latte art skills, that was where you met Sakura. Aside from Sullyoon, she was the second person who knew of your family, it’s the least she could do while studying and doing part-time in a foreign country. That was how your small circle came to be, Sullyoon was your classmate again, gained new friends you could trust without it being a connection from your parents.
Once the actual classes started for your new school, your eyes laid upon the most beautiful girl you’ve seen aside from your friends, she had your attention.
Pham Hanni, a pretty name for a pretty girl.
Luckily for you, Park and Pham weren’t that far off. Despite introducing yourself already in front of the class, you still did it. They did say first impressions leave an impact.
“Hi, I’m Park Y/N.”
“Pham Hanni.”
You believed that things could get better, that Pham Hanni could be your friend and someone you could trust. She’s pretty, smart, and immediately caught your heart. Messing with her was fun, from lowkey trying to one up her, joining her extracurriculars just to be close to her, and always sitting next to her despite it having no seating arrangements. For you, it was all fun and games with a hint of flirtatious banter because Pham Hanni has you wrapped around her finger.
Things couldn’t get any better but all hopes and dreams were shattered from a single rumour, a single accusation, all of it coming from her mouth.
“Just admit it, Y/N! YOU CHEATED!” Does she hate you that much to accuse you of such things? It’s not in your character to cheat or anything that would possibly bring your name down, despite the absence of your parents, you had a good upbringing. But this accusation was a bit too much for you.
Weeks of multiple discussions with the Prefect of Discipline and the Principal. Only led to one conclusion, you were innocent as to who planted the information, it was still left for discussion. From there on, you avoided her at all cost, sure sitting next to her isn’t completely avoiding her but you had no other choice. If it weren’t for the rumours you heard of people planning on bullying Hanni or the fact someone had already done it, you would have continued to ignore her.
Hanni never knew what could have happened if you didn’t talk to her.
Hanni never knew of your feelings since your first meeting.
Hanni never knew that you’ve fallen for her.
Even when she clearly showed her distaste for you, or how little she cares, somehow you still managed to stay and celebrate every time you two would hit a milestone. In every card you had given her, each states your appreciation for the girl, and hints of your feelings. There were no clear signs that she had read it but it was better to assume she hadn't.
So, you were out of it when Hanni showed signs of possibly reciprocating your feelings. The sudden call at 3 in the morning to tell Sullyoon everything, asking her to come over (to which she agreed only if you were going to pick her up). One of the little things you’re grateful for is that your parents had put you to driving school as soon as possible.
“You seriously better have a good explanation as to why we’re going out this late.” Sullyoon will always be your best friend, the only person you trust the most. Taking a sip of your hot chocolate as the climate slowly becomes colder as the year comes to an end, you could only look at Sullyoon with sadness in your eyes.
“I like Hanni.”
“Ok, this is indeed a good explanation. What happened? Are you ok?”
Clearly, you weren’t. Pham Hanni occupied your mind and heart and it's getting concerning to the point where you do feel the pain whenever she talks to Jungwon. The jealousy and knowing damn well that you don’t have the right to feel that way. So, no, you’re not ok.
Sullyoon listened to your rant, to how you’ve liked Hanni since sophomore year, so stopping a possible bullying from happening, to giving her letters in your anniversaries, and from the pain of seeing her with Jungwon. By the time you’re done, there are tears in your eyes as your hot chocolate is forgotten and you’re shivering from the cold.
“All this time, you never hated her?” You shook your head, not a single ounce of grudge or hatred for Hanni was in your blood.
“Even after being accused of cheating?”
“Sunoo already got his punishment for that, he was just intimidated by me taking his spot.”
Your best friend was aware of the rumours but you confirmed everything to her. Spilling your guts as if you have no other choice, growing tired of lying and keeping those feelings to yourself. She could only understand the situation; Sunoo had planted the idea that maybe the reason you transferred was because you cheated on your exams and got caught to the point supervision was needed. It pained Sullyoon to hear that, to be blamed for something she knows you would never do.
“Hanni almost got bullied because of that, if she got hurt then… there’s no one else to blame but myself.”
Years of bottled up emotions are finally out in the open, a conversation with your best friend and the moon. And maybe you were indeed a fool, falling for someone who showed little to no interest until the night before…
You were really out of it as Hanni continued to fill your thoughts and heart.

OH MY GOD! YOU'RE BACK! YOU'RE... Y-YOU'RE FINALLY BACK HERE!!!
I honestly (almost) don't care that you uploaded the new chapter, I'm way more assured that you are okay and well! After this much time, I could only hope nothing bad had happen.
But I swear that the moment I saw that you updated TBA, I jumped around like a Disney's sitcom Teen Girl, stopped everything I was doing and feasting over your great writing! Now, let me ramble a little bit over this new, great work of yours!
(... also, sorry for the delay, but for some reason I didn't notice you uploaded? Not even on Fanfic.net... maybe it was because it was right around christmas and I didn't noticed it? I don't know, I just want to excuse myself-)
Let's start with Ronald and his new pet friend: what are they called again? Windcallers? I searched everywhere for information about these creatures, but I couldn't find anything. Did you invented it? If so, I really can't wait to hear about them! Poor thing, hurt and alone in a incredibly dangerous world, I'm so glad they met Ronald "I-see-an-orphan-and-I-need-to-act-like-a-father-figure-to-them-or-I-will-die" Weasley, they will be fine as long as Ronald don't do anything stupid.
....okay, not too stupid, expecially after what he just did.
I'll say that I love what you did here, not only you showed Ronald's strategic thinking, but even his tactical acumen, something that is not always sure! The way he started to spread the rumor to put pressure on Quirrelmort, his constant meeting with the other professors just in case something happens to him, framing his enemy without moving a finger, and that final powermove (that was, arguibly, the most stupid and genious move of his) showing his most shit-eating face right in front of the biggest threat to the magical world right now (with his "I'm just a little guy!! You can't be mad at me, I'm just a little wittle boyyy!!!" act and the speech againts It, no wonder Death took a liking for the boy: they both are insanely theatrical!) and not only succeding, but also having a backup plan in case something went wrong with McGonagall!
(...because... because it was planned for her to catch Quirrelmort attaching Ron........ right? You didn't make him confront him right on without thinking.... right????)
(Counter order i just re-readed it and what the hell Ron it's good that you planned for an help but in those minutes everything could have happen! I understand he is still new to this but if he keeps doing this I'll have to call his mother)
This leads me to compliment to you about the new addictiom to the Ron squad! Welcome aboard Gingersnap and Noddy! I hope this will lead to a more in depth discussion about house elves and how Ronald will become more... radical, let's say, about their general situation...
But alas, even after all this preparation, after the danger and risk, thabks to my beloved FIXED POINT IN TIME trope things are going to get really ugly, and really soon. I guess destroying your enemy's plan with a move that is similar to throwing a sledge hammer in a glass house it's not the wisest action if you don't expect them to counter attack.
On an unrelated note I'm so, so,so glad you show the teachers to be actually competent and caring towards the kids! While reading the original books, I always felt like a... disconnection between the students and the teaching staff. By adding the elective and club's teachers too it gives more deapth and a more motivated group of adults that shows how much they want to protect their students, even if they are the first to run towards the danger in the first place. (Also-also, I really, really hope you will give to history of magic the credit it deserve. We History nerds need confirmation that our htperfixations are justified!"
That said, is now Ron and Harry going to speedrun the obstacle race? Will Hermione and Neville join him too? I mean Ron would need an hand, but it will be more people to protect during the chess game, and will the checkpoints be the same too? So many question and too much hype!!!
That said, i can't wait to see the rest of your story, of which I just got obsessed over once again. I will wait as much time as needed, it will always deliver. Cheers!!
So I was doing a speedrun on my asks inbox so far when I saw this, and I was all "WTF? I haven't answered this yet?!"
For shame! I love answering your asks!
Anyway, so sorry for the long overdue response but here it is.
OH MY GOD! YOU'RE BACK! YOU'RE... Y-YOU'RE FINALLY BACK HERE!!!
I honestly (almost) don't care that you uploaded the new chapter, I'm way more assured that you are okay and well! After this much time, I could only hope nothing bad had happen.
Thank you so much. I'm also grateful that I still have the strength and good health to keep writing. Hopefully I'll be able to keep this up until I finish book 7. 😁
Wow you actually searched about windcallers! I'm so touched by your dedication to this story!
Yeah you won't find any birds called windcallers in the HP world. But remember what Noddy said, that windcallers is what they (the House Elves) call the bird. Wizards have another name for them, and they do exist in HP canon. I dropped a number of references and hints starting Year0 Chapter3-ish about that. Hope that helps.
And yeah, it's a good thing Ron found him when he did. Poor fluffball might have ended up dead, or worse.
I'll say that I love what you did here, not only you showed Ronald's strategic thinking, but even his tactical acumen, something that is not always sure!
That's something I wished the books touched on more often, Ron with his tactical and strategic skillset. He is the pragmatic, practical balance to Hermione's ideal, theoretical mind.
Of course, part of being a good strategist is having backup plans in case shit hits the fan, and having confidence that one can handle it when it does happen. Two skills Ron still needs to develop.
You can't be mad at me, I'm just a little wittle boyyy!!!" act and the speech againts It, no wonder Death took a liking for the boy: they both are insanely theatrical!)
It was a pretty dangerous plan, but at least here we start seeing Ron leverage his resources, and actively playing the game so to speak, instead of subtly manipulating things on his own and hoping for the best.
But one can go to the opposite end of being too active a player if they are not careful.
Also, I think it's just in character for TBA Ron to shove a big F you to Quirrellmort when he can.
(...because... because it was planned for her to catch Quirrelmort attaching Ron........ right? You didn't make him confront him right on without thinking.... right????)
...and not only succeding, but also having a backup plan in case something went wrong with McGonagall!
Of course I did. Ron is learning to take advantage of what he has, including people he can rely on to act certain ways in certain situations.
Does this remind you of a certain someone? Good, because that fact will slap Ron in the face later. He needs that for character development.
Well it was a plan, not necessarily the safest one. But yeah, high risk for high returns, Ron figured.
Yeah, you might want to keep in mind needing to call his mum in the future.
Actually, call Charlie. TBA Ron is especially scared of pissing him off. 😂
Yay, Noddy and Gingersnap! The Ron squad will definitely be getting more members in the future, but for now, happy to have them on board!
And Ron has always had a soft spot for House Elves since befriending Dobby. How's that going to play in the future, we'll just have to see.
Butterfly effect in full display here, not to mention some events that are meant to happen no matter what because Ron' will to change is only one against several other factors in play.
But yeah, sledgehammer to glasshouse? Hmm, that is exactly what happened here.
Again, Ron's plans aren't exactly the safest ones. Especially when it comes to himself.
On an unrelated note I'm so, so,so glad you show the teachers to be actually competent and caring towards the kids!
...By adding the elective and club's teachers too it gives more deapth and a more motivated group of adults that shows how much they want to protect their students, even if they are the first to run towards the danger in the first place.
Maybe it was written for kids, but during the first several years, I can relate to the impression thay the Hogwarts staff don't seem to care much for the students, witj two major exemptions (Dumbledore and McGonagall). It is only starting year 5 that you start to see the teachers and the other adults in a more sympathetic, humanizing light.
The lecturers, I think, seem more approachable because they appear more relaxed and at Ron's level from his perspective. Not to mention I aim to give them as much personality as I can.
Speaking of lecturers, I subtly introduced another one who will feature more in book 2. Hope he'll be well received. He's pretty fun to write. 😉
(Also-also, I really, really hope you will give to history of magic the credit it deserve. We History nerds need confirmation that our htperfixations are justified!"
History is a very important subject, and as a history and mythology wannabe nerd, I will die on this hill!
I mean Percy and Hui are right there to make it happen. *nudge nudge*
That said, Ron isn't exactly built to be a historian character. That doesn't mean he won't gain a new appreciation for it.
...That said, i can't wait to see the rest of your story, of which I just got obsessed over once again. I will wait as much time as needed, it will always deliver.
Thanks again so much as always for your aks and your time! I hope you've already read chapter 20 since it answers your questions about what happened beyond the trapdoor.
And hoping to see you in the next chapter!
Cheers!!
Right back at you, mate! 🍻

bookish asks: #2, #21, #41
Thank you @hrimceald!! (I think Tumblr ate the original ask while I was answering it??)
2. What are you currently reading?
I started The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri last weekend after finishing Poor Things. It's the first book in a Sapphic high fantasy trilogy. It's supposed to be inspired by Indian epics.
High fantasy is a genre I rarely (or never) read, but this was mentioned by a booktuber I follow and it sounded interesting, and I thought I'd give the genre another go. I'm only about 70 pages in, but I like it so far.
21. Best winter read?
Oh, that is such a good question! I don't really know... I read Becca Freeman's The Christmas Orphans Club last Nov/Dec. It's a story about four friends, told across ten Christmases they share, and how they relationships (their connections to each other and their romantic partners) change. It wasn't my favourite read, but I enjoyed it and it was seasonally fitting!
If I'm being slightly less literal: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott! I don't think I've ever read it during the winter, but it feels very wintry and Christmassy to me.
41. Do you own a library card? How often do you use it?
Only for my university library. The local library doesn't really have English book (or books in the their original language -- aside from German), and I don't really like to read German translations.
I have used the uni library a few times to get regular novels to read for fun, but it's not something I do frequently. Also because it's not really nearby.

My media this week (13-19 Nov 2022)
Tumblr media
📚 STUFF I READ 📚
😍 👂‍Ocean's Echo (Everina Maxwell, author; Raphael Corkhill, narrator) - same universe as Winter's Orbit but completely unrelated so you absolutely can read this standalone. where WO was a sci-fi romance, this is more a romantic sci-fi. Lots of space military and politicking and being used as pawns in everyone else's games. I absolutely adore Tennal, who shows up to everything with an "I think I will cause problems on purpose!" mindset and Surit, whose steadfast moral compass makes him a great soldier right up until orders conflict with that bone-deep conviction. I also really dug the expanded world building; genuinely hope there'll be more books where we get more of it.
😍 Itsy Bitsy Yoga (wearing_tearing) - reread, 59K - Stucky no powers AU with single dad Steve and toddler yoga teacher Bucky - soft & fluffy as a fleece blanket straight out the dryer
😍 Daniel Cabot Puts Down Roots (The Cabots #3) (Cat Sebastian) - every book in this series is solid gold and this is no exception - great execution of the 'didn't realize we were already dating' trope. also Cat had this to say about it in her last newsletter and I think it's so dead on accurate: Earlier this year I read a slew of Kirk-McCoy fanfic in which those two fools didn't realize they were dating. I was enthralled. Delighted. Mesmerized. I took to social media to complain about the lack of this trope in commercial fiction and, predictably, within 48 hours was drafting this book. And thus was born Daniel Cabot Puts Down Roots, in which two people love one another very much and then later on realize they've been in a relationship all along. I think (and I'm spitballing here) that there may be something inherently queer about this trope, maybe because in order for it to work, the characters pretty much have to be in some kind of queerplatonic relationship to begin with. Also, there may be something queer or queer-friendly about how even discussing this kind of relationship involves getting into the weeds about what constitutes a relationship in the first place, which kind of goes against the grain of a heteronormative prix fixe one size fits all relationships?
💖💖 +107K of shorter fic so shout out to these I really loved 💖💖
love you like rlb (orphan_account) - MCU: Stucky, 3.4K - reread of this fave - forever grateful the original creator chose to orphan it and leave it available rather than remove it entirely
Ninety-Nine Problems (lordeofstucky) - MCU: no powers omegaverse, 27K - reread; semi-traditional omegaverse with some absolutely premier dirty talk from steve
Stevie Doesn't Know (aaliona) - Stranger Things: Steddie, 34K - a fun little rock star/barista AU

Book 29 Great Expectations
Time for a theme book and it's DICKENNNNNNNS FOR CHRISTMASSSSSS!!!! *JAZZ HANDS* This is what I recall Oprah did for her book club one year. Ok, a lot of people might be expecting A Christmas Carol, you know, something Christmasy, that Dickens wrote, but you'd be wrong. Sure, Great Expectations does actually start out on Christmas Eve, but it's just a contrivance to have plenty of food and all the characters present. Besides sitting down to a family dinner nothing really shows the holiday spirit. It might as well have been St. Swiven's Day.
I read Tale of Two Cities in jr high and Christmas Carol in college, but otherwise I'm not overly familiar with Dickens besides what has soaked into our collective consciousness. It turns out Great Expectations is pretty hilarious. There's lots of delicious irony as Pip relates his story straight and from his younger perspective, yet this thin sheen of disapproval can be gleaned from his older self as the narrator. The parts with the infamous Miss Havisham and her scheming relatives are funny and steeped with some gothic horror at the same time.
SHOULD YOU READ THIS BOOK? If you're looking for something from the dead white male canon you could do a lot worse than Great Expectations. It's funny, maybe a bit overlong, and has many memorable characters and fun mystery and lots of Dickensian orphan suffering.
ART PROJECT: With one of the most memorable opening scenes in literature, it seemed natural to do Pip in the graveyard (especially since Mystery Science Theater 3000 covered the Miss Havisham part with their pop-up book in Master Ninja I so beautifully).

If canon won’t fill this beauty then I will:
Over the years Ranboo and tubbo invite travelers or trusted people to stay at snowchester when needed. (This is under the idea that dsmp is populated by others in general) like it can be anyone from the small families of people needing a roof under their heads or entire large groups of people who need space to work and to use the mansion’s library. Or maybe even a section belonging to abandoned kids or orphans (probably in the area around Michaels never used room) Overall, the idea is that the mansion could become a large community house for plenty of people In need of it.
The activity of the mansion is heavily observed and people like Jack or Niki can visit and look over the activity of the mansion to make sure no one tries anything to do something without permission. This can be planning battle and attacks against other areas with the mansion or the destruction of property in snowchester land. And showchester can very well become a large colony community.
They could hold large events in the mansion like a fun Christmas ball or go all out for Halloween and there would be book clubs and renovated rooms dedicated to crafting and safe experiments with plants and animals. All kinds of people from all over from piglins and sheep and goat hybrids, to little fairies and blazeborns, merlings and phantoms and avians, even some enderman. They could have community gardens and cooking competitions, game and activity areas, etc.
And overall it’s just the idea that despite them never living in the mansion, they still made their home in tubbo’s small cabin. And now the mansion can be used for all sorts of people as a giant community that Michael gets to grow up around.
And like… especially since the holidays are coming soon it’s just so sweet to imagine a large community building a large Christmas tree in front of the mansion and decorating the entire area holding a large festival for several days including a beautiful ball held in the main hall… like it’s just really sweet and wholesome to me…
And also you can imagine beeduo looking around and being so proud and happy that snowchester has a loving community. And then celebrating along with them and they’re just so happy inside because it’s that sense of family that Ranboo always wanted and community that tubbo missed from lamanburg
Sorry for the long ask but yeah… family and life being brought into the mansion…
Awwwww I love that so much… thank you Bliss for your contribution…

Magic
1st Wand: Laurel wood with a dragon heartstring core, 12 ½" and solid flexibility
Laural wood:
• It is said that a laurel wand cannot perform a dishonorable act, although Ollivander has known them to perform powerful and sometimes lethal magic in the quest for glory.
• Seems unable to tolerate laziness in a possessor, and in such conditions, it is most easily and willingly worn away.
• Otherwise it will cleave happily to its first match forever and can issue a spontaneous lightning strike if another witch or wizard attempts to steal it.
Dragon Heartstrings: As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.
2nd Wand: Vine wood with a phoenix feather core, 12 ½" and solid flexibility
Vine wood:
• Owners are nearly always those who seek a greater purpose, who have a vision beyond the ordinary and who frequently astound those who think they know them best.
• Vine wands seem strongly attracted to personalities with hidden depths and are more sensitive than any other when it comes to instantly detecting a prospective match.
• Reliable sources claim that vine wands emit magical effects upon the mere entrance into their room of a suitable owner.
Phoenix feather: Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike. Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.
Special Abilities:
Animagus: Cheetah
Legilimency
Somehow understand what the dragon said (only Charlie know)
Boggart
Form: Jacob become Death Eater and kill her friends
Riddikulus: Jacob is wearing his lame pyjama and a sunglasses, vibing when listening to his music
Amortentia:
What they smell: vanilla, burning wood, smell of grass, rain and sunlight
What they smell like to others: chocolate with mint and smell of rain, sandalwood smell
Patronus
Form: Formerly a cheetah, later change to a dragon
Memory: Veiovis with her brother Jacob sitting next to each other, eating chocolate frogs and listening to music together; Veiovis shared Christmas with the Weasley at the Burrow
What they see in the Mirror of Erised: Standing with all of her friends, Jacob and family, happily together.

The Fall and Rise of Orca: One-Shots
Warning: child trafficking
                                               Under Cut for Length
Keeping Resolutions (With a Little Help) in New Year’s Evil Vol 2 Issue #1: Poison Ivy in“Auld Langs Ivy”
This story followed Poison Ivy as she tried to make an effort to be more people friendly, leading her to the C-List, a bar for lesser regarded supervillains.
Among the crowd inside was Orca, preemptively toasting the new year with Ten-Eyed Man and Scorpiana:
Tumblr media
Orca seems to be back hanging out with lesser known rogues again here (something the New Earth version did shortly before her murder). It doesn’t really seem to fit her self loathing, loner persona we’ve seen in other storylines, but whatever.
Ivy soon found several rogues who were having trouble keeping their resolutions: Penguin (who wanted to quit smoking, due to a city-wide restaurant smoking ban that kicked him out of his own club), the Abacus (an underworld accountant, too shy to talk to women) and Orca (who was having trouble with her eating habits):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hearing all these sob stories prompted Ivy to want to make positive change for them:
Tumblr media
As a side note, Orca sitting on that little stool is hilarious to me.
As the clock struck midnight, Ivy used her mind-controlling pheromones to get Penguin to give up smoking, to help Abacus be more confident and to help Orca stick to eating healthy:
Tumblr media
At first, Ivy believed she had helped them (as the pheromones were just a temporary push in the right direction), only to find out her pheromones worked a little too well in the case of Abacus, who turned out to be just as much of a creep as she thought. This lead to her causing a dead Christmas tree to tear him to pieces, reviving itself as Ivy finally felt she had helped someone (the tree).
Summery Thoughts: This story’s just okay. I do feel like writer Jim Krieg might’ve been making a fat joke at Orca’s expense, but it thankfully doesn’t go as far as it could’ve. It’s interesting to see Ivy’s mind control used for a good cause and it’s nice to see some of the lesser known rogues doing something other than being cannon fodder for once. Though they’re definitely going to need a new accountant.
High Seas Heroics in DC: The Doomed and The Damned Vol 1 Issue #1: Orphan and Orca in “The Hunt”
At the East Docks in Gotham Harbor, a cargo ship was bringing in contraband during a heavy rainstorm: weapons and trafficked children. However, the crew were soon accosted by Orphan (Cassandra Cain), who knocked them out and rescued the kids.
Meanwhile, the ship began to rock as Orca arrived on her own mission to deal with the crew on deck and began tearing the ship apart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Orca is at her scariest here with that gaping maw and using her deadly bite to convey her animal predator nature taking on human predators (something that would go even further with her Injustice 2 counterpart, which I’ll cover next post). Kudos to artist Dominike “Domo” Stanton and colorist Marissa Louise for the creepy visuals.
The remaining crew soon found themselves between a rock and a hard place as Orphan and Orca took them out separately:
Tumblr media
Once they’ve finished the crew off, Orphan confronted Orca, as both explained their motivations for attacking the ship, before deciding to work together to go after any remaining conscious crew members:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summery Thoughts: This one-shot’s a little better with its brief team-up. There’s some decent narration from an unknown criminal commenting on how the lines between heroes, villains and monsters blur in Gotham City like nowhere else. There’s also good action here, though the story could’ve been slightly longer if Orphan and Orca had met up soon and had more dialogue together. As I said before, the art is the real star here, fitting both the dark aesthetic of the anthology, as well as the fact that the human monsters end up in a horror movie of their own thanks to a couple of Gotham’s vigilante figures. This has been the most recent appearance from Prime Earth Orca, so her future remains unwritten.
Next post, we find the light at the end of a very dark tunnel with Orca and Killer Croc’s love story in the Injustice 2 book.

Olicity Tropetastic Awards: Other Inspirations
One of the coolest, and most popular, things about fanfic is that you don’t have to stick to canon for inspiration. We can plop our favorite characters into almost any situation using the books, movies, and tv shows we love. Call it an alternate universe, call it a crossover, call it awesome. Our love for Arrow and for Olicity brought us together, but here are some writers who used other sources to give us the best of both worlds!
Tumblr media

On top of that, his childhood best friend Felicity Smoak, who was no longer goth and instead blonde and beautiful, was back in town and they were hanging out again.
Oliver thought his days were going to be filled with partying, one night stands, and boys weekends while also spending quality time with the girl everyone kept telling him he was in love with.
Until his ex girlfriend dropped a baby on his doorstep who turned out to be his son.
After a lot of thought and Felicity Smoak peptalks, Oliver decides to keep and raise his son with the help of his friends.

Two Weeks Notice - LucyHatesJosh4Eva
Oliver Queen has a reputation as an insufferable playboy and a habit of hiring very inept, very attractive attorneys to represent his multi-billion dollar family corporation. So when an act of corporate espionage lands Felicity Smoak in his office on the heels of his last hiring debacle, her law degree and tech experience seem like the way to please his shareholders and his unhappy mother. He expects her smart mouth to cause him a huge pain in the ass; however, he doesn’t expect to trust and like her. Over time, Oliver starts to rely on Felicity for everything, and his world comes to a crashing halt when she gives her two weeks notice.
