Steve was a simple man, or so he thought. He didn't ask for much in this world, but he realized when he really wanted something, it always came at a high price. When he tried to join the army on countless occasions and become Captain, when he set out to rescue his best friend Bucky from the grips of Hydra at the risk of losing his said title, but lastly, there was his hope in you. You, the beacon of light in his heart. His everything. Nothing comes free in this world, this much he was aware.

He saw you as his beautiful dandelion he wanted to cherish, but as time went by, he realized his dreams were fluttering away much like seeds of a dandelion.

Unfortunately, you were in love with someone else. And not just someone else, but you were in love with Bucky. Like head of heels, lovesick puppy dog in love. It was kind of gross how much the former assassin had a hold on you.

The rest of the team found it kind of amusing, except for Steve. It was berating at best. He knew better than to be possesive over you, his dandelion, but sometimes he couldn't help but roll his eyes in disgust at how lavishly infatuated you were with the brunette. Oh and Bucky- he was just oblivious. Thought you were the cutest little thing, which obviously pissed his best friend off unbeknownst to him.

Steve typically told Bucky everything, but he didn't want his best friend to make fun of his schoolboy crush over you. Especially when he knew you didn't feel the same way.

Ultimately, even 70 years later, it felt like nothing had changed. Even though he was Captain America, Steve was still that skinny, sickly kid from Brooklyn, and Bucky was the ladies man girls fawned and doted over.

Great.

He shouldn't be jealous, he knew that, but it's you. In his mind, he saw you as his forever. His daydreams are meticulously drawn up, with your front and center as the headliner.

Steve met you almost a year ago as Stark's bubbly new assistant. You were replacing Pepper as she became the new CEO for Stark industries. You were so cute too- hair pinned up, glasses were dipping down to the tip of your nose. You almost resembled a librarian.

"Is that Captain America?" You whispered in admiration. Never in a million years did you think you would be in the same room as the Captain America.

"Yep! That's Capsicle!" Tony exclaimed. Steve chuckled at the nickname.

"And is that Sargent Barnes?"

"Oh, yeah, that's Tin-man."

"Tony!" Pepper reprimanded.

"Sorry— that's." Both men stood in front of Tony, Pepper, and yourself for introductions.

"You can call me Bucky, doll." You could have sworn you lost your breath at that moment.

Ever since then, Sargent Barnes swept you up in all that was him. You spent most of your free time with the two super soldiers—movie nights, game nights, cooking dinner together. They were your most trusted confidants— especially Steve, more so even. You told him everything—things you couldn't dare to utter to Bucky. You were just comfortable with him. Everything was so easy, so easy, in fact; Steve couldn't imagine spending his time with anyone else.

Stark hosted an NYE party every year, much like clockwork, unless the team had a mission; they couldn't skip what was assigned. One thing he couldn't resist was a good time. Much like Gatsby, the energy of the people, of the night, he thrived off of it.

As Stark's assistant, you were tasked with helping with preparation for the party. It was a grand event, glittering silver, black, and gold. Once the caterers were ready and the decorations in their place, you got ready. You were dawned in red velvet. You were a true vision as you graced down the steps; Steve couldn't keep his eyes off your silhouette.

You waited by the bar seemingly all evening, lingering and wistful. Steve wanted to walk up to you; he wanted to sweep you off your feet. But he saw the way you looked at Bucky; it was the same way he looked at you. Finally, he chalked up being a hopeless romantic n to stupidity on every level. For Steve having hope that you would see him more than a friend, the way you saw Bucky. He slipped past the guests mingling to the abyss of stars on the roof. He needed to get away from the noise of loud music and drown in the solace of Manhattan.

The moment you saw Natasha dancing with Bucky, you thought your heart had shattered into a million pieces. How she was pressed against him, her cheek against his chest as they swayed. The funny thing is you couldn't even be mad at him—sadness, of course, but never anger.

Bucky's kindness blinded you; that's all it was, and it led you to believe there could be more. You wanted to conjure his feelings and actions to be more than what they were. But he would never see you as the way he obviously saw Natasha. Above it all, it was a longing sting that made your body ache. You ran up the stairs and up to the roof for air.

Once you opened the fire escape door, you found Steve's shoulders hunched over as his body was perched on the ledge. He looked as gloomy as you felt. You felt almost as if you were intruding on a private moment.

"Stevie?" You uttered, his head lifted in the detection of your voice. He wanted to smile, but he couldn't allow himself to.

He still loved when you called him that, though.

You joined him on the ledge and sat next to him. Steve's facial expression was stoic and unwavering. He almost reminded you of a kicked puppy dog.

"I'm so stupid." You whispered. Leftover tears made it's way down your cheeks as sniffles escaped.

"He never really cared about me anyway. He only had eyes for her." You added. Steve glanced over at your disheveled form. He hated to see you cry.

"Romanoff?" He assumed. That was the first time you heard him speak all evening. It was almost soothing. Almost.

"Yeah..."

"I guess so, Dandelion."

She was a beautiful little fool, but she was his beautiful little fool.

"I let him play me like a fiddle." He grasped your hand and brushed over your knuckles.

"I'm so sorry, sweetheart." He soothed as his calloused fingers smoothed over your skin into circles and indecisive patterns. If Steve knew how to do anything, it would definitely be how to bring you peace.

"I don't want to be sad tonight, Stevie. It's New Year's Eve, a time for celebration and joy." You wiped your tear-stained face and shuffled off the ledge onto the central rooftop. A sigh escaped your lips with hesitancy. Steve watched with intent and mirrored your movements.

"Okay- let's don't be sad then. Let's dance instead, sweets." He offered as he recaptured your hand and rested one of his on your hip. You rested your head on his shoulder and breathed him in. Bergamot and teakwood.

Once your breathing had calmed, you glanced up at him. Steve, who was, of course, already looking down at your delicate silhouette illuminating in his burly arms, you couldn't help but to smile. Even if that's was the only way he would ever have you, he was thankful. Beggars can't be choosers, Stevie.

By God, he was so beautiful. The way he looked at you like you were his whole world. You never noticed it before, the holy grace the enveloped his vision. It was just you, and everything else fell to dust.

As realization occurred in the exact moment, it knocked you over like a lightning strike, as you felt dumbstruck. "God—I'm so dumb."

Steve huffed and rolled his eyes. "Stop saying that." You chuckled at him; you were dumb. You were going after the wrong guy this entire time. Why go after the Sargeant when you could have the Captain?

"No, I get that Bucky never saw me that way, now. But you did, didn't you, Stevie?" His eyes lit up at your suggestion that he didn't just view you as a friend. His eyebrows raised and facial features stilled in anticipation. "You always have."

You readjusted your position, with your fingers laced behind his neck and both of Steve's hands finding a home on your lower back. Your unbroken trace was seized at the notion of Steve's romantic implications for you. Everything felt too surreal with your body pressed against his. He was so close to you yet so far away.

"It doesn't matter if I have or not, sweetheart, I know my place." He muttered as his eyes flinted.

"What's is it?"

"To be here for you. As your friend."

"Is that really what you want, Stevie?" The question hung in the air, thick like molasses. No one dared to utter a syllable. He wanted to confess and be upfront with you, but what was the use?

In the distance, midnight was looming and fastly approaching. If you listened close enough, you could hear the countdown from Times Square.

"3! 2! 1! Happy New Year!" Shouts and cheers were sounded from the ground and raised to the heavens. Fireworks burst in the sky, and in an instinctual rush, your lips crashed into each other. Shock overwhelmed Steve's system but not as much as his need for you. The kiss was almost primal; there was no time for patience when it seemed like he waited centuries for you. You both separate due to the need to breathe when Steve's vision refocused; he couldn't help but get overwhelmed with the sight of your swollen lips and blush-stained cheeks in front of him.

"I don't deserve you, by God, I don't deserve you, Steve Rogers. But I hope this new year I can show you every way you deserved to be loved." You swore to him like an oath. Steve hummed in contentment at your resolution.

"That was so beautiful, Dandelion. You truly are a gift I thought I would never receive." His grin widened at the thought of you, finally wanting him. He peppered your face with kisses, light and quick. Your giggles overwhelmed his brain; it was so intoxicating. He couldn't get enough of you.

"Happy New Year, Dandelion." He whispered in your ear as he cradled your body slowly.

"Happy New Year, Stevie."

Alright, but I apologize in advance because it’s not as cute the video I reblogged lol. This is also gonna be kinda long, so sorry for that, too.

So first, we need the backstory. I’ve liked my fiancée since I was 15, since the first time I saw them in the hallway at high school. However, I didn’t really talk to them because 1) I didn’t know if they were queer and was too scared to ask, and 2) I was stuck with this guy who was an asshole who I let treat me like shit for 2 years. So nothing happened between us until spring semester of senior year when we had a math class together. I got them to come sit next to me in class and then with me and my friend group at lunch. For the next few months, we both started to realize we liked each other, and it wasn’t until one day at lunch (March 11th, to be exact) that we got together by literally SCREAMING back and forth LOL. “DO YOU WANT TO GO OUT WITH ME?!” “YES!” “DO YOU WANT TO BE MY GIRLFRIEND?!” “YES!!” And then we both went home not knowing if the other was being serious or not 😂😂😂 However, we texted that night and confirmed that yeah, we both wanted to be with the other person. Then I bought them a pineapple, the smallest and cutest one I could find, and gave it to them because the day after we got together, they jokingly told me, “Buy me a pineapple so I know it’s forreal” 🤣 We moved pretty fast after that.

Anyways, after 3.5 months, I realized I was head over heels in love with this person, and I was getting impatient, especially since we had talked about marriage before. In one of our conversations about marriage, they told me if I ever proposed to them, I should do it with pasta since one of their favorite foods is chicken alfredo. Well, when I had decided I was gonna propose to them, I knew I wasn’t gonna be able to cook alfredo that night, so I decided to make them an engagement ring (didn’t have the money for a “real” one yet) out of polymer clay; it was a little plate of spaghetti and meatballs (lame idea, I know), which I know isn't alfredo, but whatever they like spaghetti, too lol. If I can find a picture of it, I’ll add it on to this post. I also got them fake daffodils because they’re their favorite, and they hate getting real flowers because they die so you can’t keep them. I put the ring around the bouquet of daffodils to hold them together. We got pizza for dinner that night, so I wrote “Will you marry me?” inside the pizza box. When they opened the box, I pulled out the bouquet and pointed out the ring. They asked if I was being serious 😂😂😂 I said I was, and they said YES!!! 💞 And the timing was great because two days later (June 26th), same-sex marriage got legalized! Unfortunately, they don't have the ring or flowers anymore as they got kicked out about a week later for being with a girl, and their "parents" threw out most of their stuff 😟 On the bright side, they're living with me now and are safe here. We’ve been living together for a little over 3 years now, and it’s been amazing. We do everything together, know everything about each other, adopted a cat together, and are just…really fucking happy 💖💞💗💕💝. I’m so lucky to have someone as wonderful, gorgeous, loving, and caring as them. They light up my world on a daily basis. My life would honestly be incomplete without them in it; I love them soooo much!! 💖💖💖

So yeah, that’s how we got together and got engaged. It’s a little silly, but that’s just how we are anyways, complete fucking dorks. But they're my dork haha. Thanks for sending this ask. Sorry the answer is so long; I could just go on about them forever lmao.

Me??? Writing another one shot for @sugarglider9603 Mario Au in the middle of the night because I couldn’t sleep??? More likely then you think!!! Based on that one ask I saw, ENJOY!!!

It was rare that the princes had a completely free day to themselves, what with running a kingdom and the occasional kidnapping by Bowceit. Though even that was becoming a rarity ever since he and Prince Remy, a somewhat literal god of time and space, had started dating. Now Bowceit sometimes only kidnapped them out of boredom or if he needed a quick babysitter for the Danger Noodles. But even then, it wasn’t that bad.

Given that they now had a day off Roman seized this opportunity to have a royal spa day with Patton and Remy (who had also decided he needed a day off). He and Patton would have gladly spent their day off with their boyfriends but at the moment two plumbers in question were still attending to some business in the Ice Kingdom. So, a day of pampering as they waited for their beloveds it was then.

They had set up camp in Roman’s room, piles of blankets and pillows spread out amongst his larger then king size bed, along with plenty of snacks, nail polish, and other beauty essentials. The princes had all opted to change into pajamas, hair held back by headbands and pins, each with a different type of mud mask. A truly unprincely sight to behold but they didn’t care, it was their day off.
