I was on life support during this conversation for two reasons: first, Nami is also the reason why Zoro and Sanji argue for the first time in the manga; and second, what both of them are saying is bullshit.
Zoro is right, Sanji doesn't know Nami, they barely interact at all during the Baratie arc and his only reason to defend her is that she is pretty and he likes her. That's it. But we know Sanji is not wrong, but she is not a mystery to be solved, she is a woman with a huge weight over her shoulders.
And Zoro is a fucking idiot with the emotional intelligence of a child sometimes so he thinks everyone is like him. Nami made her choice, yes, just like he did when he decided to challenge Mihawk, but it was a choice that she didn't want to make. She did it to save them, but he was unconscious so he doesn't know.
I also want to put here what @sweetvixen1996 has said to me (nassaugirlie is my main blog) because this could be why Zoro thinks with such conviction that Nami made her choice willingly and why he looks so angry about it. We were talking about Zoro's expression when Luffy tells him Nami left.
The last sentence of the last picture is said by Luffy, the only one that is capable of admit both of them are part right, part wrong. Nami is with Arlong, she is not a completely innocent victim (especially not this version of Nami) and that's a fact, but that's not the whole story and Luffy can feel it. That's why they are going after her, we are starting to see how incredibly perceptive he can be.

So is there like... a statute of limitations on piracy, in One Piece? Like Zeff can retire and be a well-known chef, and at least some of the Marine brass know his history, but nobody bothers him because...? It's just not worth it to them? He's no longer worth as much? Or is this a case of Garp bending the rules to suit him a little bit?

the stage is set , and everything's in position . to the unknowing eye , she simply looks like a wounded young woman , desperate for someone to come help her or take advantage of her vulnerability . a strategically placed chest ( empty , of course ) lays near her , tempting any pirate stupid enough to not see through her trap . " help me ! " she chokes out , feigning weakness as she forces her voice to crack . " someone . . . help ! "
