Okay, but have we considered the new Goncharov effect, which is that now posts about real movies sound fake?
...A film called Glass Onion, you say? (hmmm, like the parody site “The Onion”?) In which international heartthrob and Bond actor Daniel Craig plays a confirmed gay character? In the middle of a murder mystery? On a beautiful exotic Greek island? With the legendary and gorgeous non-binary bicon Janelle Monáe as a part of the cast as well? In a double role? All of my queer heart’s dreams coming true in one subtextually homoerotic action movie? Nice try, Tumblr. I’m not falling for that one twice.

the mandela effect: when a large demographics has the same erroneous memory.
the goncharov effect: when a large demographics knows very well what the real memory is but pretends completely unprompted to remember the same erroneous memory.

Just found out about the tiktok Goncharov rip off and honestly the thing that bothers me the most is that it’s called Zepotha. Like who would name an obscure 80’s slasher film like that one reddit cockroach wife and not something like “Clown Castle Massacre” like do these people know how slashers work??? Do you hate fun??

My mom just said something to me and it made me think of a line of dialogue and I thought “what movie was that from? I just saw it recently” before realizing the line that I was thinking of was, in fact, from a caption on a Goncharov (1973) fanart piece that I saw last night
It’s working, guys. We’re artificially manufacturing a Mandela Effect and it’s WORKING

I'm not gonna lie I'm shocked that all that Requiem/Divorceverse stuff was just an AU, I had completely internalized the idea that all this was on the wiki somewhere. Your commitment to an AU with one fanfiction to its name is commendable.

This tumblr mass hallucinated movie by Martin Scorsese is more compelling than most films I’ve seen this or any year. Anyway, this is a Katya Goncharov Stan blog now.

I think I'm experiencing the Mandela Effect, because I could have sworn the movie was spelled Goncherov with an e, not Goncharov with an a. Maybe it was a localization thing...

At this point I kinda want someone to actually make Goncharov; recreating the 1970's film aesthetics, recreating scorsese's style, cobbling all the most popular posts together into a cohesive narrative, appropriating the fake-scores etc
I think it'd be amazing, purposefully give people a visceral Mandela effect.
Fuck, I'd do it myself if I had the time and funding.

we need more movies that are shitty in a fun iconic way and less movies that are shitty in a “these people had a lot of money to make awesome special effects but somehow failed to make an actual plot” way

I love the Goncharov meme conceptually. It feels like classic academia perhaps, definitely like studying ancient philosophy at times. You get a fragment (knockoff boots), a general context (Martin Scorsese films existing), and then a very long discussion about nothing starts. But the nothingness isn't entirely nothing, and there are still limits to what can and cannot be said framed by both the existence and non-existence of that which is being discussed. Hilarious, truly, and the fact itself so very interesting to analyse in so many ways.

We gotta start planting evidence now because someday Goncharov could end up like the Shazaam Mandela Effect where people genuinely think it existed and we just idk switched universes so now it doesn't.
