i hope no one minds if i liveblog this bitch: the pitt from 1x02

1x02
robby is one panic attack away from a breakdown
me 🤝🏼 vic 🤝🏼 crushing on mateo
fruitcake 😭
“wanna see my vagina?” screaming
“i have nothing but respect for dr. garcia. in fact, i think she would make a wonderful hostess at applebees.” lmfaooo
that poor man :(
desperately need to know what the hell is going on with dr. robbie and dr. collins
NOT AN ANKLE MONITOR 😭💀
pasty white skfjgks
the mom claiming her son consuming edibles will cause him to have autism? oh brother 🙄 glad mel shut that down.
the girlfriend supergluing the dog collar to her boyfriend oh she’s so real
“i just hate seeing families torn apart.” “oh, they’ll be fine.” “how can you be sure?” “they’re white.” lmao yeah
i really love how attentive langdon is with mel <3
mel singing savage, she’s so fucking funny 😭
oh shiiit
the 2 nurses constantly talking shit are hilarious
damn the least these kids could do is respect their dads final wishes
that scene with the parents finding out their 18 year old son is brain dead was heart wrenching
1x03
“i have nothing against pathologists.” 😭
i love how they have moments of silence for patients that pass away
mel clapping pls
whitaker can’t catch a break 😭
ohhhh my God i did NOT see those two cases with the fent being connected
robby should’ve reported that david kid a long time ago
cocksucker dkfkgkfks
this episode was so damn sad
1x04
pls they’re taking bets on the ambulance
would kill to know why dr. garcia and dr. langdon have beef
pls not the nair 😭
goodness this scene with the dying man and his daughter is making me so sad
damn, it must hurt to watch the girl who accidentally took fent with your son get to go home while your kid’s going to the morgue
what is going on with this pregnancy…
the social worker is placing bets??? 😭
i have a feeling they won’t be taking the boat out this weekend
that damn fox
fuck.
1x05
knew as soon as that guy said something about no one in the waiting room dying that someone was going to/come close to it
the langdon foreshadowing is so good
i just know witaker’s quitting after this shift
abbot and robby are so real for being willing to falsify records so that the girl is able to get the abortion she wants
“next time buy me dinner first” love this lady 😭
“don’t mind myrna, she’s harmless” “she’s handcuffed!” that’s why she’s harmless” lmfao
“you’re not a burden, you’re my mom.” 🥹
mel is such a good doctor
so the daughter either fled or something happened to her
“i’m not judging” girl that’s all you’ve been doing
this kid needs to live or i fear for whitaker
“please don’t hand me a condom” “condom?!” the light just drained from his eyes
omg it’s her aunt????
fuck her mom, forever
1x06
i feel so bad for mel’s patient ☹️
is anyone else getting a little vibe from santos and garcia? 🤨
“who is she?” “right?” no matter how busy langdon is, he still makes time to shade garcia 😭
“see? we do have patients that appreciate you.” right as myrna wheels by flipping him off dhfkd
“show off those ankles!” mel looking 😭 pls
don’t think i’ve ever seen someone excited about putting a chest tube into a patient
NOT HER FOOT 😭💀
i feel bad for javadi cause no one is taking her seriously but i gotta say that fake call sent me
“want me to draw your blood?” “you already did” lmao
“so there’s gonna a-a worm graveyard in my brain forever?” “yeah, but they’re resting in peace” langdon is hilarious
probably an unpopular opinion but i don’t really care for javadi
so santos can dish it out but she can’t take it…that tracks
i love mel’s relationship with her sister
THE GIRLS ARE FIGHTINGGGG
1x07
i hope collins doesn’t lose her baby
“he’s autistic! did you see that in his past medical history?” “it’s an ankle sprain, it has nothing to do with his injury.” it kinda has everything to do with it
dana calling robby a sad boy plssss
langdon go back and let mel finish her story NOW
“i think he’s molesting our daughter.” Jesus.
so she was pushed. how awful.
i’m on samira’s side, i think there’s something deeper with her patient
really hope something goes wrong and the dad dies
“you’re making a…a great first impression.” hell yeah.
oh God. santos was hurt, too.
i’m so glad the girls mom let her have the abortion.
FUCK THIS IS SO UNFAIR
1x08
so glad rita’s back
why’s the patient who’s flirting with collins kinda…
love that rita and her mom are getting help
oh no, she’s so little :(
santos is on a very slippery slope with this langdon stuff
what is going on with this lady and her boss…
that influencer omg
ohhh okay, it’s trafficking. yikes.
this show is so fucking depressing
this poor baby’s gonna have so much survivors guilt
i hope they’re able to help the trafficking victim
the scene with bella and the teddy bear…
they wanna attend nicks funeral 🥹
that was a really beautiful honor walk
saddest episode so far
1x09
“you just gave a speech titled ‘how to literally bury your feelings.’” 😭
fauci zombie??? skdjgjd
langdon got that anti-masker so good lmao
“your little days are numbered, buddy” giggling
they need to get this david situation solved
THE PUPPY 💞
damn langdon got his ass handed to him
aw, i hope whitaker is able to help that man get his meds
mel with a dog!!! <3
mel being langdon’s favorite isn’t even surprising. the way he talk to her, looks at her, and checks in on her? and just the fact that she’s literally sunshine? i’d judge him if she wasn’t.
that javadi and mateo scene gave me so much secondhand embarrassment omg
i actually like santos and think she could be a great doctor if she just learned more and changed her “i know everything” attitude
oof mckay was biased and it almost cost the patient her life :/
crosby was going to TOWNNN on that rat 😭
DANA OH MY GOD
1x10
aw fuck i knew mckay was the one who reported david
“where should we put him?” “on the curb?” real
LMAO HE WAS JEALOUS OF MATEO
chad waxing poetic about mateo and his hair was so funny
omg eli from 911 hiiii
ooh ‘junkie’ touched a nerve
dana and collins 🫶🏼
yay their stroke patient is gonna be okay
“slow-mo, no mo!” samira mohan is Gods strongest soldier
mckay and mateo are definitely fucking
the secondhand embarrassment i keep getting from javadi is so strong oml
robby looks devastated ☹️
“could a drug addict do what i do?” same energy as the “could a depressed make this?” meme 😭
1x11
of course santos knows what the nurses are saying 😭
“i see hair :D” the silence, i’m crying
the ‘bonus mom’ shirt, oh my-
that is the fakest baby i’ve ever seen
had a feeling something would go wrong with the surrogate
“you’re trouble.” langdon being an addict is her fault how exactly…?
oh shit
the realization slowly dawning on robby that the baby was his 😯
“chad was severely injured.” “i wish.” honestly
“i’m digging my own grave. let me.” “i don’t have to give you the shovel.” whew.
i’m just waiting for it all to catch up to robby and cause a breakdown of some sort
“he didn’t say goodbye.” my shayla 😔
okay i know what langdon did was horrible and illegal and he deserves to be punished but i need him to come back because he’s the only one there who truly understands mel
if dana isn’t in season 2…🗡️
NO NOT HIS SON
1x12
i can tell this episode is gonna be really heavy
“prayers wouldn’t hurt.” neither would gun control.
ayyyye doctor abbott is back 😮💨
would be so crazy if david is the shooter
hell of a first day
“did you take the cuffs on myrna?” “hell no, that woman scares the shit out of me! keeps trying to bite me” 😭😭
LANGDON RETURNS 🙌🏼
“been to a million concerts, whatever happened to ‘peace and love’, man?” BUT REALLY
i just wanna know if jake is okay
“read the fucking room, mom!” YES, JAVADI
“you’re here!!” that’s her bestie
even in the middle of a mass casualty event, garcia and langdon still make sure to take jabs at each other 😭 that’s a real beef
santos throwing that guys phone in the blood soaked water djfjgks QUEEN SHIT
just when i thought i couldn’t love mel more
this is so stressful
1x13
the clown 😭
hits just keep coming for whitaker
my God
chad sucks
jake and lea 😟
samira is such a badass
poor jake and robby
NOAH WYLE WE’RE GETTING YOU THAT EMMY, YOU ARE A STAR
1x14
“fucking circus.” says the clown 😭
gloria had that crash out coming
“am i the only one who missed that day in medical school?” samira looking and sounding so genuine is sending me
if looks could kill santos would be dead rn
figured david wasn’t the shooter about right when he walked back on screen
if this dude says ‘quiet’ one more fucking time…
santos taking a bite of the kit-kat while looking that asshole reporting dead in the eyes oh she’s kinda everything
MEASLES??? *stefan voice* this show has everything!
okay well robby’s being pretty harsh to mckay about david and i don’t like it
i wanna give mel the biggest hug
fucking anti-vaxxers 😒
loved this arc but i’m never watching it again, it stressed me the hell out
1x15
so glad mckay didn’t actually get arrested
these parents are really pissing me off
hope santos doesn’t make a mistake cause she’s tired
i adore dana and would be so sad if she left but she deserves to rest
david needs a shit ton of help
well i think it’s safe to say that robby and langdon’s friendship is beyond repair :(
santos they could never make me hate you
“she really is a good mom.” no i don’t really think that’s true
the fork dkfjgnfjs
dana ❤️🩹
“see you monday.” oh no
whitaker omg 😭
santos and whitaker in their roommates era i did not see that coming
every time santos says ‘huckleberry’ i get maya hart flashbacks
robby deserves to leave and never come back
the king sisters have my entire heart

robby and abbott’s friendship means everything to me
“my therapist thinks i find comfort in the darkness.” 😭😭
dear God please get robby some therapy
THE RATS HELP
love the park scene very much
just realizing langdon left without saying goodbye to mel, again ☹️ i get why he didn’t, but still, i’m sad for my girl. and really curious about how that will impact their s2 dynamic.
i hesitated to watch this show cause after dealing with grey’s anatomy for a few years, i didn’t think i had it in me to invest in another medical show but i saw so many great things being said and i really like noah so i decided to just try watching the first episode and i am SO glad i did!!! the pitt might be the medical show of all time and i’m not even joking. can’t wait for s2 and to see them sweep at the emmy’s <3

I visited the WGA library to read Yellowjackets scripts and wanted to share some of my findings! (Pt. 1)
So as some of you may know, scripts for the latter half of Yellowjackets Season 1 have already been released to the public (you can find 1x05-1x10 here: https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1FctrMniXqWRFJOe-rX6dSgvmXEO2KyLE?usp=share_link) and the Pilot script is pretty easily accessible on the internet if you look it up.
However, I have never been able to find the scripts for the rest of S1. An old draft of 1x04 can be found on Script Slug but A LOT has been changed from this script to the final product (Van is dead, Nat actually killed her dad, Javi is called Cody?!). It’s an interesting read for sure but it seems the actual final script of “Bear Down,” along with “F Sharp” and “Dollhouse,” are not accessible on the internet. So I headed over to the WGA Library and checked out those three scripts to read! It was super interesting (highly recommend going if you’re in the LA area!). I was not able to get any pictures of the scripts due to the Library policy, but I took lots of notes and saved some of my favorite lines!
I’m going to start with 1x02 and make two separate posts of 1x03 and 1x04 because otherwise this post would be way too long!
1x02 “F Sharp”

•The episode starts with Misty’s POV of the crash, and there’s this line that I love:
“Across from her, Lottie reaches forward to desperately clutch Laura Lee’s hand in the aisle. Their shared terror making it all the more clear that, in this moment, Misty is all alone.”
This shows Misty’s longing for companionship and affection. Even in what she thinks might be her last moments, she is utterly alone. I think this moment is part of what tips her over the edge into obsession in her relationships with Coach Ben, Crystal, and Natalie.
•In the final product, we don’t really see what Nat’s POV of the plane crash is (other than her nightmare in 1x03 but I’m not sure if that actually happened or not?) but in the script she gets knocked unconscious and buried under a bunch of luggage and equipment and the other girls have to dig her out.
•Misty and Taissa are the ones to pry the exit door open for everyone to escape.
•Jackie doesn’t even try to save Van in the script, she just immediately runs over and tries to drag Shauna away from Van from the get-go.
“Jackie runs after Shauna and starts clawing at her, trying to get her to move toward the exit.”
•After Shauna and Jackie make it outside the wreckage, Jackie and Shauna “begin fighting angrily in the dirt, Jackie clearly still desperately afraid to remain so close to the fiery wreckage” as Shauna tries to go back in for Van.
•And I just thought this descriptor was a cute little addition; after Misty chops off Coach Ben’s leg, we get this line:
“And as we realize this little show called ‘Yellowjackets’ is sick, unexpected and awesome, we smash cut to—
MAIN TITLE”
•“Laura Lee trying in vain to hold and comfort a struggling, hyperventalating Javi.”
A nice little moment of Laura Lee comforting Javi as he’s trying to find his dad.
•”Jackie: For the record, I was trying to save you. I thought…
I was going to lose you. Jackie bites her lip, a little teary. Shauna glances at her and nods, I know—but we also get the sense that Van isn’t the only one judging Jackie right now.”
A little Jackie/Shauna moment. You can see how much Jackie loves Shauna, but Shauna is still conflicted over Jackie’s choice to leave Van behind.
•Some things Caligula says when Natalie breaks into Misty’s house:
“Hello, pretty lady!”
“Hells bells! My dogs are barking!”
Love this.
•The information Misty has in her secret file: articles and magazine covers about the crash, press clippings, a local wedding announcement for Shauna and Jeff, Taissa’s campaign flyer, and a brochure for Natalie’s rehab clinic.
•When Nat asks Misty why she has all of this information, Misty says:
“You guys are the most important people in my life.”
Just another reminder that Misty’s whole existence revolves around the Yellowjackets, even after 25 years.
•Nat is hyper focused on looking at Travis’s drivers license in the bar scene when Kevyn walks up to her. She totally ignores Kevyn, just focused on Travis’ picture. She is described as looking “pale” and “like she’s seen a ghost.” Just shows how hung up Nat is on Travis and how much that relationship fucked her up.
•Misty says “Holy macaroni” when she sees Coach Martinez’s body. Insane.
•Okay brace yourselves for this one guys, in the script Coach Martinez is STILL ALIVE when they find him impaled on the tree.
“The coach’s eyes pop open. He suddenly grabs Travis. Eyes wild with pain and fear, the coach tries to speak but only makes raspy sounds as blood bubbles at his lips.”
“Travis: Dad! Let go!”
Travis’s dad won’t let go and there’s a scene where Travis is trying to claw him off of him, then the tree branch cracks and Travis shakes his dad off of his arm, “knows it’s his dad or the both of them” and the tree branch falls.
Wow. As if the scene that ended up making it in the final product wasn’t traumatic enough, Travis has to actively let his dad fall to his death when he’s still alive and desperately clinging to him? Ouch. I’m glad they cut that scene honestly poor Travis.
•Shauna is holding Javi and comforting him during and after this scene.
“We see Shauna still comforting Javi, we can’t hear what she’s saying but her body language is very giving—a maternal streak she didn’t know she had.”
Love the nod to Shauna’s maternal nature here. She’s naturally very nurturing and caring, but after she loses her baby she becomes more cold and distant with her other child, Callie, in fear that she will lose her too. I just love seeing the before and after here, we get to see what Shauna was like before all of the trauma. Shauna wants to nurture Callie, it’s a natural part of her personality as this scene with Javi shows, but she can’t get too attached after what happened in the Wilderness.
•In the adult timeline, there’s another deleted scene in which Nat drives to Shauna’s house and spies on her from outside.
“She seems to be fighting an impulse to get out of her car, but her feelings are unclear. Does she look uneasy? Vindictive?”
Another hint the conflict between these two that we still haven’t seen yet? Maybe this is lingering resentment from Shauna challenging Nat’s leadership as the new Antler Queen?
•When Nat hands Travis her flask to drink from after the whole Coach Martinez incident, there’s this line:
“She wants to tell him there is nothing he could have done. How guilt like this is poison, and if he’s going to blame himself she will punch him in the face”
I think this is clearly a nod to Nat’s own guilt around her father’s death. She knows that Travis is likely tearing himself apart inside because she did the same thing after her father’s death. She blamed herself, as Travis is doing now. Also love the punching him in the face line, it’s very on-brand for Nat and honestly wish she had punched him in the face a few times when he deserved it.

The Wilds: Season 1 Rewatch
SPOILER WARNINGS — While it is an episode recap, there may be spoilers for the entirety of season 1 of The Wilds. Continue reading at your own risk if you haven’t seen all of it yet.
1x01 Recap
1x02 Recap
1x03 Recap
1x04 Recap
The Wilds | 1x05: Day Seven
Favorite Quote
"We all know she can't survive the wilderness by herself, she can't even survive a Holiday Inn." — Leah Rilke
Personal Highlights of the Episode
The impersonations of Fatin by the girls.
The sequence that flips back and forth with Fatin practicing the cello and partying. Two sides of the same coin, but 99% of people only judge her based on one side of her.
“I’m not fucking crazy!” I know most people either love/hate Leah, but jfc Sarah Pidgeon is an excellent actor and plays Leah’s moments to perfection, especially during her non-verbal scenes. The emotion she displays with just facial expressions is just fantastic.
If you guys don’t know by now, I’m a Leatin whore (but like, even at a basic BFF level too. I’ll take any and all forms) so THE highlight is the makeup hug.
Things I Didn't Catch the First Time
These girls just strolling through the woods with no means of protection. Dot should know better. Why haven’t they at least sharpened a tree branch or something? Even a blunt branch would be better than nothing.
Shelby and Toni catching eyes while they sit by the fire waiting for the water to boil and Martha counting. Then Shelby stealing a second glance back to Toni? The Shoni clues were subtle and built up perfectly throughout the season.
Observations / Theories / Questions
Everything during this episode just screams “Don’t underestimate Fatin.” Everyone at some point underestimates her and it blows up in their face. Fatin’s dad, the girls thinking Fatin wouldn’t rip her own pants, Leah in general, Gretchen, Dot/Shelby/Rachel when they immediately assume she was just painting her nails, and most likely the agent too (even though we don't see them interact with her much).
THEORY – Fatin’s interview reveals big ass information going forward, whether it be Nora’s fate or something they find out in season 2, which is why Fatin has the shortest interview out of all the girls. Most of the episodes have the girls talking to the agents sporadically throughout it, Fatin gets one sequence and it’s all about believing Leah’s theories. Then all three looking back and forth between each other? It’s weird as hell. And what do we learn this episode? Fatin is really good at reading people. Fatin, per her father, has no respect for authority figures. While I believe all the girls are skeptical of the agents, all of this leads me to believe Fatin will be the first one we see actually fight back against them during the interview.
THEORY – The agents and Gretchen will focus on Leah unraveling their experiment, but in reality, it’s going to be Fatin. She’s the only one that listened to Leah from start to finish (I think the other girls will get on board at some point in season 2) and she’ll be the one that silently questions things when Leah verbally brings it to attention. Fatin blows things up when she’s 100% certain and covers her ass in the process, whereas Leah reacts impulsively and it bites her in the ass most of the time. Therefore, Leah will react too soon, and Gretchen’s team will shut it down, BUT Fatin comes in to save the day when they make the same mistake everyone else does and underestimate her.
Fatin is super critical of her mother (calling her Dragon woman), but immediately takes her side when shit goes down with her dad. We even see Fatin admit to Leah later in the season that she misses her mom. Her mom that we only ever see push her to be better. Fatin’s mom is probably the only person who has never underestimated her and knows exactly what she has the potential to be.
THEORY – Fatin is painted early on as Daddy’s Little Girl and even told by him that “You’re just like your dad, kid.” I think Fatin’s biggest fear is that she really is just like her father, even after telling him that they’re nothing alike. I think, while on the island, we will see Fatin transition into the person her mother has always seen in her: driven, passionate, strong, and successful. Fatin is not like her father; she will be exactly what we’ve seen her mother be pre-scandal. A powerful woman whose success is her own. This is also why I can’t see Fatin’s mom staying with her husband permanently. Everything we’ve seen of her screams that it’s out of character for her to stay with a man cheating on her.
Leah’s emotional distraught over Fatin being lost after dragging her every chance she got earlier. The voice crack when finding Fatin. Not criticizing Fatin for just painting her nails like Rachel, Shelby and Dot do. Where my Leatin stans at?
Not that I’m experienced in any capacity when it comes to infidelity, but like, wouldn’t the smart move be to not have your tablet on full display in the kitchen when you’re receiving/sending nudes? You’re rich (or your wife is anyway), Mr. Jadmani, buy a damn burner phone or something.
“Stop fighting, you’ll see everything gets easier.” Hearing this after knowing what Martha’s backstory is… wow.
It’s completely fucked that Fatin’s mom lost her listings because her husband cheated on her. Like what kind of logic is that bullshit? This asshole literally sitting right beside her putting the blame and consequence on HER. SHE won’t be able to show her face, dude, what the fuck about you? Society is fucked, man.
Alex is the only one on Gretchen’s team that I like.
THEORY – I think he’s the one that blows this whole operation open when the girls get rescued. He’s gonna be the one to side with them if/when it goes to court, even if it means incriminating himself. OR Gretchen is going to frame Alex for the death of Jeanette and he’ll go down for her murder. He obviously carries a lot of guilt over her death, and probably will accept his fate if it comes to that.
Why the hell we throwing a whole ass book into the fire when you should be tearing pages out to prolong the longevity of the fire?
Fatin’s social awareness is not talked about enough. She’s the only one that notices Leah’s in her head after finding Jeanette’s body missing, she notices Leah has separated herself from the group after finding Fatin and is the one that approaches Leah to make amends, she knows exactly what needs to be done to calm her mom down (lipstick), etc.
I think it’s a nice comparison to the flashbacks with her dad when Fatin is the one to initiate the making up with Leah. We see that Fatin makes ZERO effort to apologize to her parents about leaking the nudes, and I think both these scenes really cement the fact that Fatin won’t apologize for something she thinks is right. Her belief in her own ethics and morals will never be put on the back burner to make someone else feel better, but that doesn’t mean she won’t apologize when she knows she’s partially to blame or out of line.
Final thought – Fatin is underrated as hell, and the layers to her character are subtle enough that she really does appear basic to anyone who isn’t actively paying attention to her. She’s a very complex and well-written character. I have a hard time picking a favorite out of the girls, but Fatin is definitely up there.
Field Notes
Field Note #051—Fatin’s mom is one of the top real estate agents in the Bay Area. She sells big-ticket properties in San Francisco and the East Bay, and prides herself in hosting the best open-house events. One of her secrets is playing classical music at just the right volume to make the house feel classy yet cozy.
Field Note #052 – Cellists and other string performers can’t keep long nails because they interfere with technique.
Field Note #053 – Fatin only goes for college dudes. Her take on high school guys? They haven’t done enough living. If a guy doesn’t have a monthly car payment or do his own laundry, how can he be trusted in a hook-up context?
Field Note #061 – How each girl learned to swim: Martha took a class with her mom; Toni would sneak into her neighbor’s above-ground pool by night until she kind of just taught herself; Rachel and Nora had private lessons; Fatin’s grandparents had an infinity pool; Leah learned in Lake Tahoe at a family reunion; Dot went to the quarry; and Shelby’s dad threw her into the country club pool sink-or-swim style.
Field Note #062 – The waterfall is an especially good water source because the water is moving, decreasing the chances of bacteria.
Shelby Curse Count: 3 (4 total)

I'd like to say something about Athena's character development from season 1 into last night's episode. It was weird, the entire thing was out of character, and at many points, it was just bad writing.
(I also want to make it clear that I have no room for cop-apologists. I do not care if you think that criminals deserve to die; it wasn't Athena's job to kill him. I'm tired of cops acting as judge, jury, and executioner).
In episode 1, season 1, Athena tells Buck point blank — "You do not get to choose who lives and who dies." The theme carries all the way into 4x14 as Bobby tells the sniper the same thing.
And we've seen Athena as a vindictive cop before — 1x02 when Michael told her she met someone and she sought out that man who robbed the home with the dobermans. When May was in the hospital and she went after that girl (I'm still iffy on this one. I get why she did it, and she was on the clock, but she did get put on restrictive duty for it, so obviously she broke some sort of protocol).
You could argue that both times she was in uniform, so this one was the outlier. But Michael says, "There's no way in hell you're just going to sit here." Or she makes Buck send her into that fire so that she can rescue Bobby, without thinking about the consequences if something had gone wrong.
I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad trait though. To be a woman of color in a white male dominated field, you've got to learn to be good at what you do or you won't survive. No doubt Athena's instincts are what makes her a good cop.
In the words of Bobby in 4x14, "This was not that."
I can't tell you why the writers did this. If it were me trying to develop a retirement storyline for Athena, I still wouldn't have stretched this arc for 50 minutes of the episode.
I wouldn't be surprised if this ruins Athena's character for me for a while, because this is the opposite of everything she's been presented as. The moral conscious — "Bobby, maybe lay off Buck and the lawsuit." "Hen, you're not a bad person for wanting Karen to get better." I hate copaganda, and so I despised this arc, but the fact that they made Athena the one to carry it out just twists the knife in the wound.
#ill admit its been a hot minute since i watched athena begins so feel free to add#as always this is just my opinion but i do feel strongly about it#911 spoliers#athena grant#bobby nash#911 on fox#bathena

(Also, yes, I am purposefully making the screencaps as awful as I can. I want my eyes bleeding out of my sockets by the end of season 1.)
<_><_><_>
10:08
Ah, the infamous line. What does it mean??? Does Arthur like Merlin now??? Arthur is still mean after laughing at Merlin’s joke!!!
Means nothing, I think. Merlin probably spoke what Arthur was thinking, or it was just so unexpected that Arthur could only reply with a chuckle, basically saying “Did you really just say that?” with a quirked eyebrow, raised in disbelief.
I mean, how many people do you think could openly say something “negative” about a knight? Not a knight, that’s for sure, let alone a servant, a peasant. And Arthur is still trying to adjust to having this… This curious thing as his personal servant, just as much as Merlin is trying to get adjusted to being pressed under a boot for the first time in his life.
And I think, judging by their conversation that I will mention later, that they both feel something similar for each other.
A certain trust.
And… Yeah, trying to keep the “I want to kill him” thoughts to a minimum.
<_><_><_>
19:10
First, it was “Good Luck”.
Then, it was a pat on the shoulder.
And it’s all only happening because Merlin realizes that Arthur gets extremely nervous before every fight.
That is someone who is stressed. Very much. On the brink of breaking down.
Merlin can’t address that, and he doesn’t. He just does these little gestures in hopes that Arthur will just take a deep breath when he remembers them and focuses on the fight with a calm mind.
And that’s just… That’s just so sweet.
Merlin was handling Arthur’s stress before the pratty prince even realized he was stressed.
<_><_><_>
21:40
Gaius acting surprised that just after he mentioned that if they had the antidote, they could have a chance of proving Valiant’s guilt, Merlin immediately got up and nearly ran out of the room – Gaius. Do you seriously not understand that Merlin loves getting into trouble?
<_><_><_>
“I don’t like the guy, but that doesn’t mean he’s cheating.”
“Gaius is preparing an antidote to the snake venom, when Ewan’s conscious, he’ll tell you what happened.
“If you fight Valiant in the final, he’ll use the shield, it’s the only way he can beat you.
“Look at it! Have you ever seen snakes like this in Camelot?”
***
“I wouldn’t lie to you.”
...
“I want you to swear to me what you’re telling me is true.”
“I swear it’s true.”
...
“Then I believe you.”
24:43
This is the convo I was referencing earlier. Just the fact that Arthur doesn’t deny the obvious proof Merlin has with him, but still is in denial because a knight using magic is unheard of, and just impossible in his mind, since knights are… valiant, but then Arthur asks Merlin to swear, like an equal to him knight would, to prove that they are not lying, he thinks of Merlin as honorable enough to understand the importance of swearing, even though he probably wouldn’t expect any other servant to. From the second episode Merlin is different from others in Arthur’s eyes.
And that’s not even taking into account the implications of this scene. Merlin comes to Arthur because he trusts that Arthur won’t dismiss him and throw him into the dungeons for badmouthing a knight, and will hear him out before giving a final verdict. None of the other knights would have even listened to him beyond “Valiant is using magic!”, they would have shut him down then and there. Arthur is different from others in Merlin’s eyes.
It’s episode 2 guys. It’s episode 2 and already we have scene like this!
How the hell can it go up from here?
It can go up and beyond what we know as gay.
I mean bisexual.
Or demisexual? I kind of liked that theory…
What we know as Merthur! There.
<_><_><_>
27:01
Like here!
Merlin whispers an important thing – not getting close to the shield – but Arthur hadn’t thought of that, so he lets himself be reminded of that by Merlin, when he could have told him to shut up instead.
IT’S EPISODE 2.
<_><_><_>
30:50
I know I’m missing the point of this scene, but…
This time?
Is he talking about…
I think Arthur’s talking about his armor.
Like… Yeah, it actually is quite important. If the armor’s not tightened properly, or it’s rusty, or if it’s not fixed/cleaned since the last day, then it’s a pretty big deal in a fight. It can cost one’s life, and Arthur’s putting his in Merlin’s hands with all of his duties.
This is why this episode breaks my heart – because Arthur truly had no reason to distrust Merlin or not believe what he’s saying, and Merlin had no reason not to share what’s going on with Arthur when they’re going on a dangerous journey. After this whole mess Arthur is far more dismissive of what Merlin says, especially since the boy doesn’t have nearly as much proof as he had this time. Yes, Valiant did prove to be using magic, and what Merlin said did come true, but I think Merlin himself is less keen on sharing his suspicions with Arthur or anyone else other than Gaius, if not to avoid this whole emotional mess, then to avoid the difficulty of explaining how he knows things and their legitimacy. No more just… walking up to Arthur and saying what’s happening, no more Arthur believing him.
It’s just… agh.
<_><_><_>
“[Valiant] will use the shield against you.”
“I know.”
“Then withdraw. You have to withdraw-”
“Don’t you understand? I can’t withdraw.”
***
“Valiant will kill you. If you fight, you die.”
“Then I die.”
36:01
God… Damn.
This is how every knight is, isn’t it? It’s better to die with honor than to live in shame.
A perfect tenant to live by to die before you’re 20.
Unless you have a secret warlock to protect you, then you’ll make it.
To 30.
<_><_><_>
36:38
Some people say that Merthur became canon in the second episode.
I just want to do my part and point out that this is how Arthur reacts when Merlin leaves after the prince shouted at him.
First time was right after that god-awful court session, the second after Arthur sadly admits that he can’t withdraw, and he must die before he disappoints his father.
<_><_><_>
44:19
I don’t think he is. I think he’s just repeating what Uther has ingrained into him – to only care about himself, and his own accomplishments, to never take the help of other people, because he doesn’t need other people, he alone can and will take on the world.
That’s not talk of someone who’s ashamed of being saved by a girl, but someone who thinks that they were capable of doing whatever it is by themselves. And because they didn’t, it turns to denying facts and just propping themselves up, focusing on what they did rather than what the their helper did.
He will never know that it wasn’t just Morgana who saved him that day, but also Merlin, Gaius too and even Gwen, but acknowledging that getting help from other people is a thing he did and understanding that without them he would be nothing is something he still struggles with until season 4 and a bit beyond, so let’s just…
Let’s just hate Uther for making Arthur so hard to deal with in the beginning.
And let’s praise the people around him for having the patience to live with him and the gall to call him out on his bullshit from time to time. Those people deserve a holiday, several of them.
<_><_><_>
44:37
Arthur approached Merlin to sneer about Morgana! Out of all the people in the ballroom, Arthur felt that he couldn’t talk about Morgana behind her back with anyone, except for Merlin.
How would a knight react? How about another noble? A servant?
Neither of them would either agree with him or tease him about it, which Merlin would do if only he didn’t feel slightly awkward that THE PRINCE FUCKING ARTHUR JUST WALKED UP TO HIM AND STARTED TALKING LIKE THEY WERE FRIENDS.
Heh…
Yeah.
Merthur was canon by episode 2.
AND THEN HE APOLOGIZES FOR TREATING MERLIN HARSHLY ONCE HE NOTICES THAT THE POOR BOY IS CONFUSED ABOUT WHY HE’S TALKING TO HIM.
SJGNOIUDRHNGIUJSRGUJNRDOIUNGVJKJNGRNIUERJNGUIHNJHBK
PRECIOUS BOYS.
<_><_><_>
45:25
I think Arthur just enjoys putting that look on Merlin’s face.
Don’t take that out of context.
<_><_><_>
The episode starts with Valiant getting his snakey shield, and murdering a guy. It ends with a feast in Arthur’s honor! Even though all he did was stab his sword into Valiant. Quite heroic. Uther approves.

I loved their scenes together it was funny and very charged and of course I loved seeing Rio on this whole new situation but this fake pregnancy isn’t it. I hope this storyline end in the next episode or at worst in 3x5. Also I hope this isn’t actually the bombshell Manny was referring to.
Hi, anon, sorry for the delayed reply! :)
I really love their scenes and Rio was really great in 3x03 but I totally get where you’re coming from! I’m actually going to include something that I wrote elsewhere about the episode:
“At the end of the day, I’m reluctant to call this episode a favourite but I did have a wonderful time watching it. It was by no means perfect but, as of now, a lot of my concerns are minimal and more about what might happen from here and how things might progress. I could talk in detail, for example, about how a fake pregnancy is a flimsy way to push the story along permanently (basically, it can’t last) but for all I know, the writers have already included another solution to stop Rio from killing Beth (and continuing to work with her) in a later episode. There’s a lot of things that can’t be fully judged without the bigger picture but I will say this, I had a great time watching this episode and I’m pleasantly optimistic to see what’s to come.”
To be honest, I don’t think the pregnancy lie was a total surprise and to me, it makes sense. Especially in the heat of the moment and to be fair to Beth, it’s the one thing that she can guarantee will stop Rio from killing her because she (and the audience) can be pretty confident that he would never harm a child. There’s also the fact that she’s probably not at the top of her game right now considering she believed he was dead. I don’t know. Was it stupid? Yes but I get it, ha.
And I’m in two minds about it being the bombshell Manny was talking about? To be fair, it did stop Rio from killing Beth and considering he can’t do that, he’s probably going to make her life hell as much as possible by doing things like having Mick babysit her or wanting to see how she makes counterfeit money (and seemingly demanding a share/claiming it as his business).
Regardless, I think you’ll get what you want with the pregnancy lie ‘cause as I said before, it’s a flimsy way to push the story along and so, it can’t last. Her lies are bound to be found out at some point and when they are, he’ll want to kill her again, in fact, he might be even angrier. I mean, all the pregnancy lie really needs to do is provide enough time so that a) Rio won’t want to kill her anymore (note: that doesn’t mean he has to forgive her or like her again, he just needs to move on and/or find something else in replace of killing her), or b) Beth can come up with something else that will give her a pass and give him enough reason to want to stick around her.
I’m thinking of the pregnancy lie as a way to hit pause so the girls can figure out something better and more long term and also for the writers to have Rio get used to being around Beth again. He spent months away from her and at least some of that must have been spent thinking about what he would do. However, she wasn’t physically there and that degree of separation (along with the healing he would have had to go through and the months away from Marcus) would most likely make it easier to consider killing her but I wouldn’t be surprised if being around her again would muddy things in his head. Again, that doesn’t mean he has to forgive her or even like her.
So far this season, Beth, Annie and Ruby have done things in stages whether it be personal, money, or business-related. They’ve taken it one step at a time and so I think it does make sense that dealing with Rio’s return is also done in a similar fashion. Basically, I’m hoping the writers have done it so that the pregnancy lie just one stage/reason in this whole thing and that there will be other things along the way?
Personally, I’ve had a good time so far and we are only three episodes into a sixteen-episode season. Considering the first four episodes usually act as some kind of introduction to the season, I’m not overly concerned about where things might go from here. I mean, think about it:
1x01, 1x02, and 1x03 have the girls trying to solve their problems by robbing a store but then having to commit more crimes to pay back the gang they accidentally robbed. They do that but Beth throws a spanner in the works by leaving her pearls for Rio. 1x04 is about transitioning from that into the girls actually working crime properly.
2x01, 2x02, 2x03 has the girls dealing with the fallout of season one and with having to clean up one ‘final’ problem which is Boomer. They essentially do that but a spanner is thrown into the works as Rio gives Beth the keys to the kingdom. 2x04 acts as a transition as Beth goes from thinking she can live a normal life and help with the dealership to having sex with Rio and then him pushing in on the dealership.
So far, with season three we’ve had 3x01, 3x02, and 3x03 show us what the girls (and even Rio) have been doing and what they’ve been dealing with since the end of season two. It’s new territory this time and mostly has the girls navigating new waters as they stick with crime but have to do everything themselves. The spanner in the works comes a little sooner but that’s Rio coming back into their lives and his desire to kill Beth. I can see (and of course, it hasn’t aired yet so I don’t know for sure,) that 3x04 will be about transitioning from what we’ve seen so far into what’ll be the main catalyst for the rest of the season. Just like we ended 1x04 with the girls offering to clean fake cash, and 2x04 with Rio wanting in on the dealership. Perhaps 3x05 will also serve this purpose as well considering it’s a longer season but we’ll have to see.
Regardless, because of that, I do think the pregnancy lie will either be left behind entirely by the end of 3x04 (or 3x05) and that something else will come up in place of it. We’ll then be catapulted into the rest of the season which at this point, looks most likely that Rio will decide to take over Beth’s work-life as much as he can and take control again. We’re supposedly going to find out he has bosses and what not so I could see him taking over Beth’s work-life transitioning into the wider crime world and Beth being dragged into that as he needs help with dealing with it :)
But I really do understand where you’re coming from! Even though I do think the pregnancy thing makes sense and could work (for now), it’s not I expected them to go with, ha. Hopefully, a lot of things get straightened out a little in the next couple of episodes! :)

The mystery man from the season premiere is finally revealed and he is Henry’s father! And apparently a complete asshole. As is August. Ugh! I get that forces apparently had to converge together to get Emma pregnant so she could put Henry up for adoption and Regina could adopt him, but did she have to be betrayed by the man she loved to do that? No wonder Emma’s such a tough cookie and doesn’t let people in. Also, Emma in the past will be referred to as young Emma to distinguish the two.
Summary: Emma and Hook climb a beanstalk to find the magic compass that will get her and Mary Margaret back to Storybrooke. In Emma’s past, we meet Henry’s father and how she ended up in jail (and how she acquired the yellow bug).
Opening: Growing beanstalk
New Characters:
Neal: I know he was in new characters previously as Mystery Man, but since we actually know who he is now, I’m putting him in here again. Also, my initial reaction to him was correct, I hate him. We first meet Neal in Portland, OR as he pops up in the backseat of the yellow bug young Emma steals. She thinks he’s the owner, but it turns out he’s also a thief, so, of course, she feels a kinship with him. Now, I’m not sure why, but the costumers did nothing to make him look any younger in this flashback, so he just seems like a creepy, older pervert using a young girl to help him with his stealing exploits. I’m not sure how old he’s supposed to be, but he’s at least 21 since he repeatedly asks young Emma out for a drink and she’s only supposed to be 17. But, I’m guessing he’s more between 23-25, even though he looks his real age which is around 35. Anyway, he gets out of a cop pulling them over by being completely misogynistic with the cop, and they go on their way. We next see him and young Emma in a convenience store and she’s very pregnant, and he refers to her as his wife. Neal distracts the cashier from him and young Emma shoplifting by asking him directions to Eugene on a map. A customer comes in and notices them stealing so young Emma pretends to go into labor. This whole scene is hilarious. They leave and we find out that young Emma is not pregnant and that she was using the bag under her dress to collect the pilfered items. And then they’re kissing in the car. Ew! They go to a motel and grab a room that a family is leaving and happens to not close the door all the way. Well, that’s lucky. Young Emma notices a dreamcatcher and explains what it is to Neal. He calls it flypaper for nightmares. He thinks they should keep it. They’re still living in the bug so young Emma doesn’t find that feasible. Neal suggests getting a real place together. Young Emma is skeptical and even suggests Neverland, which angers Neal slightly. He finds a picture of a map and tells young Emma to point to a place with her eyes closed. She points to Tallahassee, so they decide that’s where they’ll go. Young Emma asks if this is what he really wants and he says what he really wants is her. I really want to believe him, but knowing what we know later, I find it hard to believe. Neal is in a mood the next time we see him. He’s apparently wanted by the FBI and he managed to snag his poster from the post office. He stole some expensive watches when he was in Phoenix. He came to Portland and stashed them in a train locker. He tells her Tallahassee is out, he needs to head to Canada. Young Emma assumes she’ll go with him. He needs to go alone. She doesn’t think so. They argue until she decides that she’ll get the watches out of the locker. They can fence them, use the money to change their identities, and go to Tallahassee. Honestly, I thought that Neal was doing this to set young Emma up even before August came on the scene. But, apparently he really does love her and didn’t plan on being a complete asshole. So young Emma goes and gets the bag out of the locker. I’m still not sure why Neal couldn’t do this. It’s not like anyone knows where he is. Why would security think it odd if he got a bag out of a train station locker? It doesn’t seem as if it’s being watched for any reason. Why did young Emma have to be involved with this whatsoever? It seems like the fencing of the watches would be the more dangerous part of this whole scheme. Anyway, young Emma brings them to Neal and he thinks he can fence them for around $20,000. He’s going to fence the watches and reminds her to meet him at 9:00, and gives her one of the stolen watches so she has the time. Again, seems like this would be some sort of set up, except he hasn’t met with August yet. Neal is walking to meet his fence and feels someone following him. He runs off and the person runs after him. The guy tackles him and Neal thinks it’s a cop, but it turns out to be August! He and Neal argue about who’s doing a better job taking care of young Emma. August realizes Neal actually loves young Emma. He thinks that will make leaving her easier, because he’ll want to do right by her. August asks Neal if he believes in magic. Neal considers this before telling August that he obviously does (you didn’t answer the question Neal). August says he’s going to show Neal something that will make him believe. It’s in his typewriter box. And Neal does believe the minute he sees what’s in the box. August tells him about the curse and that Emma needs to break it, and she can’t do that with Neal in the picture. August asks him if he’ll do the right thing. And the right thing is apparently setting young Emma up for stealing the watches. WTF, Neal? We see Neal meeting with August two months later in Vancouver, Canada. He feels guilty about young Emma (GOOD!) and just wants to know if she’s okay. August informs he she got 11 months. He says it should be him in there. Well, it’s good to know he has feelings about this. Why didn’t he just get himself arrested and not let young Emma know? Why did he have to frame her? Ugh!! Neal wants August to promise he’ll be there for young Emma since he can’t. He does. He gives August the money from the watches and the car (with a clean VIN just like young Emma had suggested) to give to young Emma so she’ll have a fresh start when she gets out of jail. He also asks that August let him know when the curse ends. I’m sorry, I don’t know what could scare Neal so much that he would frame the woman he purports to love for his crime. That is not love.
Character Observations:
Young Emma/Emma: I’m just going to come out and say it. Young Emma is an idiot. She may know how to steal a car, but she clings to Neal because they’re both thieves, and they don’t have any family. We know she’s grown up in the foster system and she was moved around a lot, so she’s clinging to the little bit of stability that she can find. Even if it’s with a much older man that is a thief. So let’s just skip to the part where she’s set up, because this whole thing is absurd. Young Emma goes to meet Neal at the prearranged location after he fences the watches. She calls him up on her flip phone and finds his number has been disconnected. Then a cop comes and tells her that her boy set her up. He called in a tip and is probably off to Canada by now. Why does the cop know all this information? Neal called in a tip to check the surveillance footage at the train station. Ok. What does this prove? She took a bag out of a locker. Unless they have proof that there were watches in that bag, they have nothing. All they have is the one watch young Emma is wearing and there is no proof she stole it. Technically, it was a gift from Neal, so she’s done no wrong there. The cop tells her to give him the watch and then asks if she knows her rights. He doesn’t even say them to her. She just answers yes. Now, while this technically wouldn’t set her free, anything she would say after this would not be admissible in court, so most likely the judge would throw out the case unless there was other evidence that could be used. So when the cop asks where the rest of the watches were and she said ‘Gone, not coming back’ (and yes, she’s actually talking about Neal), that would not be admissible in court as her knowing about the stolen watches. And the wanted poster had Neal’s picture on it of him stealing the watches! Who was young Emma’s public defender? They did a real shit job for her to get 11 months for possession of stolen goods that she a) didn’t steal and b) they never recovered. I seriously cannot figure out how the hell this case even made it to trial, let alone a guilty verdict. The only thing I could even think they’d get her on was being Neal’s accomplice, but she didn’t even know him them, and they could see what foster home she was in and that it wasn’t in Phoenix. But back to young Emma, who is feeling very betrayed, obviously. We next see her in jail. The prison guard has a package for her that she has to open in front of her. It’s car keys to the bug, with the swan keychain. The guard says at least she has a car when she gets out, and apparently a baby, as young Emma is holding a positive pregnancy test.
In the EF, Emma volunteers to climb the beanstalk with Hook, which makes him very happy. He has a magic cuff they need to use to climb the beanstalk as it’s enchanted so no one can climb it. Was this instituted before or after Jack? Mulan gives Emma poppy powder to knock out the giant. She also asks Mulan to cut down the beanstalk after 10 hours. Emma’s story is about trust. Hook asks her to trust him several times, but after the betrayal of Neal, it seems Emma can’t trust anyone. Or at least not flirty, innuendo dripping, hot pirates. They manage to knock the giant out and get to the treasure room (with a lot of flirting from Hook, and a lot of eye rolling from Emma), before the giant wakes up and comes after them. Hook gets trapped under some fallen pieces of the roof while Emma freezes when the giant comes after them. Emma manages to trap the giant in his own cage. The giant shares with her that he is alone and how the dried bean he wears around his neck is a reminder of how all humans are killers. This hits a bit too close to home with Emma and she walks away rather than kill him with Jack’s poisoned sword. The giant frees himself and shows her a way out as a favor for not killing him. Emma starts to leave but negotiates another favor since she could have killed him twice. Turns out she wants him to not let Hook go free for another 10 hours after Emma rescues him from the rubble and then conveniently handcuffs him to a chain that happens to be there. Emma says she can’t take a chance she’s wrong about him as Hook pleads with her not to leave him there. She tells him he’ll be okay, she just needs a head start. Emma manages to get down the beanstalk right after the original 10 hours is up. Mary Margaret is upset that Emma told Mulan to cut the beanstalk down. Emma tries to explain but Mary Margaret makes it clear that they go back to Storybrooke together. Emma hugs her (awww!) and agrees.
Hook: He’s overly flirtatious with all the ladies, but especially Emma. He’s the master of innuendos, and he’s sexy and he knows it. Plus, he can read Emma like an open book. He guesses correctly that she’s an orphan due to the same look in her eyes that the Lost Boys have. He also realizes she’s had little love in her life and asks if she’s ever been in love. She lies and answers no. But after she sees Milah’s tattoo, and deduces that Rumplestiltskin most likely killed her as well as taking Hook’s hand, she confesses that she may have been in love once. This whole conversation is weird. What does having been in love have to do with her perception of Hook? He continues to be flirtatious throughout their whole journey up the beanstalk and once they reach the giant’s lair. And he’s dead sexy when he has to tie Emma’s hand with his scarf. Yummy! Sorry, but that’s just hot!!! He asks Emma to trust him several times but she just can’t do it, which leads to him being handcuffed in the giant’s castle and pleading with Emma not to leave him there. She tells him she just needs a head start, and he screams for her. I think we have an angry pirate now.
August: Ok, I cut August some slack for leaving Emma when he was seven, because he couldn’t handle that kind of responsibility. I get that. But now he’s technically behind her going to jail because he somehow spooked Neal into leaving her? He calls himself young Emma’s guardian angel and he’s trying to make up for leaving her when she was young. Okay, I get that, but to help frame her so she goes to jail? What’s that all about? August admits to Neal that he can’t say no to temptation, that he’s not built that way. This is true, Pinocchio was never good at making the right choice, but it’s such a cop out. And then it gets worse. Neal gives August the car keys and $20,000 to give to Emma so she has a chance to start over once she’s out of jail. Emma gets the car keys, mailed to her from Phuket, where August apparently took the money meant for Emma. August is an even bigger ass than Neal is. Neal at least felt guilty. August only came back to help Emma break the curse because he started turning into wood. That money could have let her keep Henry.
The Giant: We don’t get a lot of backstory. Only that it seems the fairy tale and EF history got his story wrong. That Jack attacked him and killed his family and he’s the only giant left. He’s very angry toward humans because of this. But in the end, he finds an ally in Emma and gives her the compass and agrees to watch Hook for 10 hours so she can get a head start.
Mary Margaret/Aurora: They find some common ground due to both having been under a sleeping curse. Aurora is having nightmares about a burning red room and someone inside it watching her. Mary Margaret seems happy to have a princess to mother, since Emma won’t let Mary Margaret mother her. And Mary Margaret goes all mother bear on Mulan when she tries to cut the beanstalk down. Mary Margaret makes it quite clear to Emma that they are going home together, no matter what.
Henry: He’s apparently having dreams of the burning red room with someone else watching him as well.
Questions:
Was Cora really going to climb the beanstalk with Hook? She doesn’t seem the type to do that.
Has Mulan been to Oz? Poppies are what put Dorothy and her crew to sleep in the movie.
How long have young Emma and Neal been together by the pretend pregnancy scene?
Is Neal having nightmares? Is that why he wanted to keep the dreamcatcher?
The map that Neal has young Emma point to is a map of all the states the motel chain is located.
What does being in love have to do with being perceptive about why Hook wants revenge on Rumplestiltskin? If Emma had never been in love she wouldn’t understand that Rumplestiltskin killed Milah? That would make her a pretty bad bail bonds person if she couldn’t figure things out like that.
Why does young Emma say Neal got away clean with stealing the watches? The wanted poster has a picture of him stealing the watches! Why does Neal have to explain about the security cameras?
Why is Neal running to Canada? They have extradition laws there. He could still be arrested and sent back to the US. Better to go to Mexico instead.
Is Neal not wanted by the FBI anymore? How is he currently living in New York if he’s still wanted by the FBI? Did he change his identity? He would have to if he has an apartment and seems to working somewhere that requires a suit.
How long has Neal had this train station locker? I don’t know what lockers were like in 1999 or 2000, but according to Google, you can only store something in a train locker for a day.
What’s in the box, August?! What’s in the box?!
Neal doesn’t seem to find August talking about curses weird at all? Could he be from the EF?
Why didn’t Neal just leave? Why did he have to set Emma up to go to jail? Just ghost her and run.
What does it matter if Hook steals other things from the giant?
If Neal felt so guilty about what happened to Emma that he wanted to know when the curse broke, why hasn’t he come to Storybrooke to find her? Or is he currently on his way?
Why did the giant have the compass on him? Was he expecting someone to try and steal it? Was it special to him in some way?
Are Aurora and Henry seeing each other in the burning red room? Will they be able to communicate with each other?
Did Emma spend two years in Tallahassee waiting for Neal? Or did she just like the idea of Tallahassee enough to go there after she was free?
Observations:
It’s nice that Emma’s false eyelashes stay on so well throughout this entire journey without bugging her at all.
There are apparently no more magic beans to make portals with, as they were destroyed by the giants after a great war led by Jack the Giant Slayer.
The swan pendant Emma wears around her neck is the keychain Neal stole for her.
Tallahassee is not near a beach. The closest beach is about 90 miles away.
According to the wanted poster, Neal’s birthday is March 23, 1977. That makes him 22-23 at this point.
Now we know why young Emma went to jail in Phoenix; that’s where Neal stole the watches.
The giant’s castle seems to be made pretty shoddily if just walking makes everything shake and pieces of the roof cave in.
Jack’s skeleton is still in the giant’s castle and his sword has his name on it.
Emma has a flower tattoo on her left wrist.
August says that Emma was sent to a minimum security prison in Phoenix. In Desperate Souls Emma says she was in juvie and her records were supposed to be sealed. A juvenile detention center and a minimum security prison are two separate places. Juvie means she’s under 18 and minimum security means she was tried as an adult.
August sent Neal the postcard in Broken.
That’s a pretty big cage considering the giant’s enemy seems to be humans.
Once Upon a Time Firsts:
We actually saw a dreamcatcher hanging in Neal’s apartment in Broken, but this time it’s shoved in our faces and we will be seeing them again throughout the series.
Hook asking Emma to trust him.
Emma’s tattoo.
Names:
Neal Cassidy: Neal Cassady is the name of a beat poet in the 60’s and hung out with Jack Kerouac. Not sure if this was intentional somehow by the writers or if Neal made up his name being that he’s a thief.
So, I’m extremely angry over young Emma’s shoddy frame job, and the fact that Neal and August got away scott free apparently. I love Hook’s flirtiness and his innuendos. All in all, Emma’s backstory was really important to understand why she doesn’t trust real easily, but I don’t see her trusting Hook any time soon, regardless of the circumstances. But she’s finally starting to trust Mary Margaret and hopefully see her as her mother.

Rewatching Love in the Time of Hydra

At the end of the previous episode, May looked shocked by Andrew’s recommendation for Skye to leave S.H.I.E.L.D. while Coulson’s main focus appeared to be the danger posed by powers in general and how to stop them.
But here we have May recommending for Skye to leave S.H.I.E.L.D. while Coulson seems shocked by the idea that she could be dangerous.
What happened?
Well, with May it’s easy. Andrew pulled out the Bahrain card and that, plus her obvious respect for his professional opinion, made her reconsider to the point that she’s now seeing Katya in Skye.
As for Coulson...I guess Agent Dad took the helm from Director Coulson. The latter needs to be pragmatic and prepare for the worst. The former loves Skye and can’t believe she would pose a danger to anyone but herself, which is after all a fair assessment based on actual events.

So Skye is sent away to the Retreat, with the best intentions and for her own safety, but it’s easy to imagine how the entire thing - from the various levels of distrust exhibited by all but one of her friends to aliens wanting to kill her to her mentors deciding she can’t stay home at the base - must have played with Daisy’s long history of abandonment.
You can't tell me where we're going, can you? -- You're gonna want to pack a bag. (2x14)
I'm 25, and I have never spent more than two years anywhere. The second I made friends at the orphanage, gone. And God forbid I called a foster family "home”. It's "pack your bags”. (2x17)
There’s a lovely bit of prop continuity that I think works beautifully - and maybe intentionally - to illustrate Skye’s state of mind: when she exiled herself to the cage in 2x12, she had the same travel bag she first arrived with on the Bus in 1x02. Her own, personal bag she likely had for years, not something S.H.I.E.L.D. issued, and it’s the same one she has packed now to go the cabin. She called S.H.I.E.L.D. her home ( “it’s the only home I’ve ever known”,1x19, “S.H.I.E.L.D.’s my life now”, 2x02) and here she is again, packing her bag(s).

While Skye is reliving her childhood, Hunter meets and greets the very fine people at Real S.H.I.E.L.D.
In order of “I get you, I sympathize, I don’t know who you are, I couldn’t care less and What. The. Hell”, we have:
Commander Adama, pretending he’s not the one ultimately calling the shots just on the strength of his personal charisma alone. Nice try, good speech, I don’t buy it. *fistbumps Hunter*
The former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy, yet to crossover to Freeland. Probably traumatized by Hydra slaughtering half her students, helped by the other half and at least one powered individual she had to fight to defend them (2x15).
Some bearded dude, whose job must be looking dour at all times so everyone appreciates the gravity of the situation. Considering what’s going to happen to him in the finale, I can’t really blame him for his gloominess.
One unredeemable asshole. There’s a tree branch with his name on it and that’s really sad because he won’t be around to be turned into stone in place of Dour Dude later.😈
And of course Bobbi and Mack, who are entirely too cool for this crowd. You guys...I love you guys, but how can you even exist in the same reality as Agent Asshole, let alone work with him?
I mean, I do get it. S.H.I.E.L.D.’s fall was a huge trauma and betrayal of everything all these people have fought and sacrificed for. They are looking for a better way to run things because one person in charge holding all the secrets didn’t work out so well before and it’s questionable at the best of times. I’m actually on board with that.
But they’re biased as hell and they’re judging with the benefit of knowing the outcome and no actual direct knowledge, as even Bobbi and Mack never got the full picture. Hydra was always going to go after the Obelisk and wanted to weaponize it to “kill millions, perhaps even billions” (2x04). And they made a power play that Real S.H.I.E.L.D. apparently decided to do nothing about, outside of Mack’s and Bobbi’s contributions, all because they were too busy fretting about Phil Coulson.
If they had helped Cool S.H.I.E.L.D. with all their resources instead of sending spies and plotting a coup (oh, the irony), things in San Juan might have gone a lot better.

Quake Rumblings:
Jemma made a pair of fingerless long sleeve gloves that emit a surge of electricty to inhibit Skye’s powers. Coulson says that the goal was to decrease their magnitude so they wouldn’t hurt her. Lincoln will however scoff at this idea, blaming the gloves for Skye’s rough transition (2x16) and they will be used in the season finale to keep her powers contained. However, it’s easy to speculate - we never got to see it, sadly - how the same technology, refined by a better understanding of Inhuman physiology and Daisy’s own powers, became the foundation for the combat gauntlets she’ll be wearing with her Quake uniform from S3 onward.
Stuff that crossed my mind:
Kara is so screwed up by the brainwashing that she doesn’t even know what food she likes anymore. 😟
That Natural Born Killers-like scene in the diner is cool, I suppose, but why exactly can’t Ward and Kara quietly kidnap the nano mask expert without all that fuss? And wouldn’t that work better for them? I’d assume they wouldn’t want to attract S.H.I.E.L.D.’s attention at this stage. Nor the cops.
Great. I tried to go zen to keep my powers in check only to find myself back on the D.L. In S3 Lincoln will remark that she has a “natural zen thing” with her powers. Except she doesn’t, it will take a lot of pain and effort to get there and he, more than most, should have known that.
It's okay, Fitz. You don't have to put a positive spin on this. -- I'm not doing that. I would never patronize [...] Well, isn’t this telling. Mack, stop plotting with the Clown Academy and come back to give him a hug!
So maybe if you can learn to control this, then you could have Avengers-level powers, something like Captain America, even. Captain America is a very athletic dude who can hit like a truck and be hit by a truck. She’s way cooler than that. No offense, Cap.😉
If there is an Avenger equivalent, right now I'm afraid it's the Hulk. Yeah, no, call me crazy, but I feel like this comparison might not be what she needs to hear right now. Sorry Jem, Fitz wins this one.
I'm sorry, Skye. This really isn't about you. -- I'm pretty sure it is. Well, yes and no. Given Fitz’s resentement about Jemma’s leaving something was always going to cause their current rift. It just happened to be their friend gaining superpowers. That’s sort of cool. In a really weird way. 😏
This isn't about categories on the index, May. We're talking about Skye. -- And as her S.O., I am telling you, I have no idea how to handle her. -- You'll find a way. You always do. -- Not always.-- This isn't Bahrain. Okay? We know who we're dealing with here. -- Don't fool yourself. Skye's changed. Maybe not on the surface, but inside. She doesn't know herself anymore. I suppose, but she still shot herself to keep the rest of you safe. Take a deep breath and repeat after me: Skye is not Katya. Skye is not Katya. Skye is not Katya.
Well, then I guess it's fair to say we all hide our true selves, don't we? -- Or we just wait for the right time to reveal the truth. Or we are found out and then make lame excuses. 😒
You must be Lance Hunter. -- And you must be crazy. *hearts Hunter*
I won't deny you have a few good points. But why not just take it up with the man himself? Well, but that would be reasonable.
Is there something else? -- It's just possible repercussions. -- We've been over this, Agent Simmons, and I'm aware of the consequences, but this is my decision to make. Okay, first, what repercussions? I *need* to know these things. And second, wouldn’t this be a decision for Skye to make? 🤨
Thing I remember most about my dad is he was a car guy. [...] Wasn't till we finished that it hit me. That car was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. And all the time we'd spent together working on it gave me an appreciation I never would have had otherwise. -- Hold on. Was that car a red 1962 Corvette? -- Yeah [...] Well, he'd be very proud. Your red Corvette flies. How cool is that? It's pretty cool. -- But I think the thing he'd like most about it, at her core, she's still just a red '62 Corvette. -- Just to be clear, I'm the Corvette in this story. Right? See, Jemma? He compared her to a beautiful vintage car that flies. This is how you do it if you want people to feel a little less crappy about themselves.
Now you want to tell me where we're going? -- We're almost there. So, Phil, what’s up with this? I get why you wouldn’t tell her at the base but why not on the plane? If someone’s bugged the Quinjet, they’d likely have access to its flight plan as well anyway. But I’m sure not being told where she was going did wonders to quell Skye’s insecurities. 🙄
Whatever I may have thought there was between me and Skye, she made it pretty clear the feeling wasn't mutual. I’m not insane. Not insane, no, but perhaps a teensy bit delusional? The girl had to shoot you four times for you to get it. Great to see you’re finally both on the same page, though! 👍
I know what're you going through. My family did a number on me, stripped me down, left me hollow. I was a shell. So, when someone finally did come along and offer to build me back up, I didn't resist. Even though what he really did was make me a killer. And now you’re doing it to her. Lovely. 🤢😡
But then I paid my family a visit. They were surprised to see me, but I think that, eventually, we were able to dig in, really express our feelings. This actually made me laugh. I’m a bad person. 🤭
That poor lieutenant working as Talbot’s assistant... 🤣🤣
Skye, I'm afraid I have to pull you from active duty. -- I get it. I do. I just didn't think that you'd lock me up, like a werewolf during full moon. Someone’s feeling like a monster. 😭 The cabin looks lovely, tbh, but Skye’s probably a city kid - if her St. Agnes is Matt Murdock’s St. Agnes, she basically grew up in New York in between all the moving - and she may not be into woods and rustic life all that much. Especially rustic life delimited by laser fences.
What would you do if you were me? -- I don't know. These are uncharted waters, but if anybody can find a way through them, it's you. Coulson’s full confidence in Daisy will never not be heartwarming.
Is that everybody? -- All female personnel are accounted for, sir. I think you need more female personnel. That’s just twenty people or so.
No, no, trust me the only threat this guy poses is to himself. Psst, Mack? She doesn’t trust you and she’s not believing a word you’re saying. Just a FYI.
I gave your name to Coulson because Hartley needed backup. I never thought you'd stay, let alone care. Oh, I had totally forgotten about this conversation. Then I owe you an apology, Bobbi. You weren’t planning to involve him at all.
Walk away. Right now. You and I, we can leave all this mess behind, just start over, be new people, be better people. Not a small thing to ask, when he knows how important S.H.I.E.L.D., whichever version she happens to be affiliated with at the time, is to her.
I don't want to change Skye. The Diviner did that. I'm just trying to fix her! There’s nothing to fix... 😏
You never used to be this scared [...] You're afraid. 'Cause of what happened to me and Skye, how we both changed. Well, you know what the scariest change is, Jemma? It's you. No, no, no, Fitz. This is unfair. I’m not calling back Mack to hug you anymore.😋
Earlier today, with Skye...it just didn't feel right. -- You made the right call. There's just too many things in play right now for her to be here. -- Yeah, maybe. But you ever get that feeling like you mishandled something important? Well, had she turned supervillain instead of superhero, this would have been the moment you’d regret, yes. But she’s just gonna side against you guys for like half a minute. Cheer up!
So, Mack you believe him? -- Nope. -- Me, neither. Aw, poor Mack. I bet he thought he was doing well with that “ships in the night” crap😂
Oh, come on. We all know Bobbi could have taken out that tea cup anytime she wanted -- I might just have to test that theory out on your face. Feel free. I have popcorns.
Coulson and his secrets, that's the threat. Dammit, Bobbi. And you were so close to a good thing with that “punching Agent Asshole in the face” idea.
If I obey, will my compliance be rewarded? -- To be honest, it really won't make a difference. Oh, great. Here comes Wardette. 😬😡😭

I watched Euphoria tonight so here’s my thoughts(1x02):
I love Fez so much and i swear these fucks better not HURT HIM
Cal is a disgusting piece of trash and I hope he chokes(but like maybe not literally choke because he probably likes that oop)
Nate needs to get locked up and they need to throw away the key, on GOD this boy needs solitary confinement and a mental institution
Jules is a weeb confirmed
The scene of Rue leaving the hospital shattered my heart like that’s some professional type shit
Troy is a dumbass and I hate him but like he’s entertaining to watch cause I know at least 10 dudes exactly like him and he low key funny
I wanna know how the hell Kat went from losing her mind over getting leaked on the internet to being like “hAhAhA I’m gonna be a cam girl🤪” literally in seconds
Side note did she just turn off her ears when the principal said he never watched the video because immediately after she started digging in about how she felt insulted
“I’m such a loser” bitch me too the fuck
Making Rue go up and talk about her summer was cruel as fuck and that teacher needs to get suspended
Nate is a judge mental piece of shit and the whole segment about what he likes in girls and how he thinks his mom is weak was absolutely disgusting and imma need someone to staple him in the forehead

Wynonna Earp 1x02 Keep the Home Fires Burning
Spoilers disclaimer (please read before sending messages or writing comments.)
Stray thoughts
1) Buffy and Veronica would be so proud of her punning abilities…

2) Well, this guy blew up his own cover rather stupidly…

3) Her quick-tempered nature is going to get her in trouble, isn’t it?

She did exactly the opposite of what Dolls asked her to do. But if this town is anything like Sunnydale – which considering how adamant they were about saying that Wynonna’s uncle died of a heart attack or something even though he’d been FUCKING BEHEADED – they will probably ascribe these shenanigans to a PCP gang, right?
4) Is this like the Revenant Boss? The Master? Big Bad?

I’m sure I’ll find out soon enough.
5) I’m guessing there will be some sort of connection between this guy (I can’t remember if they mentioned his name already?) and Wynonna, given their conversation at the bar, the fact that he protected her and Waverly, and the fact that they’re both pariahs in their respective communities. Can we talk about the revenant community? Is that PC?

6) Yep, the revenants mentioned “the boss”.
7) “We know who you are and who you rode alongside of.” Is this because he crawled out of the well after Wynonna? Or did he hitch a ride with someone or something else we haven’t seen yet?
8) More backstory, thank you, show, I need it.
DOLLS: The Black Badge was a top-secret branch of the Marshalls founded in the 1900s by Roosevelt…
WYNONNA: Eleanor?
DOLLS: Teddy – to eradicate the paranormal forces suddenly blossoming on North American soil…
WYNONNA: Do you have a flamethrower? 'Cause a flamethrower is at least fun.
DOLLS: …working with your grandfather actually, Edwin Earp, to handle things up here.
WYNONNA: Hmm yeah. A one-year wonder. Family legend has it Eddie was only the heir for like 11 months, but came real close to sending all 77 of Wyatt's kills back to Hell.
So, if I got this right, when each heir turns 27, all the revenants killed by the prior heir come back to Earth, so that means they have to kill all of those plus the ones who hadn’t been killed by the previous heir, right? A ton of revenants, basically.
9) Yep. That’s Sunnydale.

10) This Boss Man doesn’t look like the one before…

So…
At least I now know that the cool revenant’s name is Hank.
11) Okay…
BOSS: And the Earps?
HANK: It is just a matter of time before they figure out who I really am and what I did to their great-great-granddaddy.
A few things about their convo. Hank is clearly an outcast. He’s not respected among the revenants because of his connection to the Earps and because he’s not a revenant - he seems to be something else, and he won’t be accepted by the Earps if they learn what he did to their family. I always find this type of characters incredibly interesting, the ones who walk the grey moral line and who will typically do whatever is more beneficial for themselves in order to survive. It’s always interesting to see their inner struggles with morality and good/evil, and I wonder if Hank will be one of these characters. And who does he want revenge against?
12) This doesn’t feel random…

So, Waverly used to have an “imaginary friend” when she was a kid. Could this mean that her friend wasn’t really imaginary and she has some sort of psychic or supernatural powers?
13) I like Gus 100% more, bless you.

14) Now, this was totally unexpected but super cool!

So, Revenants can’t touch the gun without getting demon epilepsy or something. And I really, really like the way the show gets rid of the bodies – they literally burn down to hell.
15) This lady was totally flirting with Waverly, but what are her intentions?

In the words of Anya Jenkins…
16) I can’t disagree with him, though…

Raise your hand if you love him since Instant Star...
17) I hope she is right, in the long term…
WAVERLY: I got a good feeling about you. And I'm an excellent judge of character.
HANK: Sweetheart you really aren't.
18) She’s also a dork. I’m liking her more and more.
WYNONNA: Regular guns can slow the revheads down, but they will always come back for more until they meet Peacemaker, which only I can handle…

19) Bossman is not playing around…

BOSS: Malcolm kills her uncle, lures the heir back home, and now this? How many times do I got to tell you idiots? Peacemaker can't be touched by revenant hand.
LEVI: But-but we-we just thought…
BOSS: Don't! Ever! Think! I do the thinking for all of us.
20) So they want to hire a “professional” to create a distraction, but the problem is, the payment needs to be human blood… Is the shadowy guy from the beginning of the episode the “professional”? Will this show only ever give me more questions?
21) Hank looks so awkward wearing a hoody. And I’m gonna go ahead and say it. He kind of reminds me of Spike.
22) So, I think “shadow assassins” are like a special type of revenant? Levi mentions that they can only be activated by a blood sacrifice. I’m guessing this Killer Miller is the shadow guy we saw at the beginning of the episode.
23) Ooh, more scoop on Hank!
LEVI: You were Wyatt Earp's right hand; what would he say if he knew you were joining forces with every man he ever put down?
So, this revenant is disgusted by Hank helping… the revenants? Huh?
24) Okay, so the girls’ mom is not dead but just a deadbeat mom. I’m sure we’ll see her again. And I’m sure there was a reason for her leaving.
25) I didn’t really think he was going to do the blood sacrifice thing. And I didn’t believe he was human either? But I guess I was wrong…

And yeah, his reaction? Don’t tell me you don’t see the similarities…!

26) I kind of thought that the Shadow would end up going after all the revenants listed on Waverly’s notebook instead of going after Waverly… And btw, I guess she really wasn’t a good judge of character after all? Like, Hank didn’t even hesitate to throw that notebook into the hole in order to save himself, he didn’t care that he was going to send the shadow after the wrong target.
27) I knew it.
BOBO: Perfect time to make a hole - for our friend Waverly.
YOUNG WAVERLY: Will this really - make them happy?
BOBO:This will guarantee you all get what you deserve.
WAVERLY: Bobo. The name of my imaginary friend when I was growing up: Bobo! And I'm starting to think that he wasn't so imaginary.
Do you think Bobo could be Boss? Same initial letters… And I guess she didn’t have supernatural powers, after all, she was just tricked by a revenant.
28) I really love Waverly’s attitude. She doesn’t have any powers so far, but that doesn’t stop her from getting ready to fight back…

29) Well, that was easy… Cool. But disappointingly easy.

I mean, he was kind of scary, but in the end, he wasn’t really a threat? Unless he can’t be really killed off and he’ll come back every time someone does a blood sacrifice?
30) You really need to be a badass in order to be threatening while wearing plaid flannel PJ bottoms and furry sleepers…

Remind you of anyone?
31) “You’re just a girl” I mean, the references must be intentional, right?
32) That was cool, Waverly!

33) What is he doing, though? And what is he?

WAVERLY: Yeah, well, most of my stolen stuff was returned, OK? And he's just one of those crazy Wyatt fans. No, he's definitely one of the good guys.
WYNONNA: Everything in my body tells me he's one of the bad boys. My entire body.
34) Yep, Hank will do whatever he has to in order to survive…

At least for now, anyway.
35) Why is his back burning like embers?

36) And what exactly is their plan? What is “the dig”?
BOSS: I swear to you, our salvation lies not in thieving Peacemaker, or defeating the heir, - but in the dig! We stick to the plan! We stay on course. We let the Seven deal with the heir while the rest of us work, as we've been working for 15 years, towards one common goal: freedom!
He got a little William Wallace there, didn’t he?
37) So, this is what Henry’s revenge is all about…
BOSS: I'm a man of my word, Henry. I can give her to you. The woman that changed you.
HANK: Well then, Bobo, we are officially in business.
And yes, Bobo was Boss. Manipulating a little girl? That’s really low, even for a revenant.
38) I’m getting very invested in this story, really. I have to thank you for suggesting I should watch this show! I really love the pacing in the episodes I’ve seen so far. It’s really hard not to comment on every scene because it seems all of them are relevant to the plot, there are no filler scenes, you know? And I really hope the episodes continue to be arc-driven instead of the “monster-of-the-week” type. I can’t wait to see the rest!
39) Hope you enjoyed my recap, and, as usual, if you’ve got this far, thank you for reading! If you enjoy my recaps and my blog, please consider supporting it on ko-fi.Thanks!

This post is my thoughts of the songs from the first 3 episodes
Pilot (1x01):
Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat: Boring. Understandable, since it’s the first “official” number with the beginnings of the New Directions. But still, painfully boring. 2/10
Can’t Fight this Feeling: Not near the top, for sure. I’m not sure if this is my favorite Finn song, too early for me to judge that, but definitely not one of my favorites. 6/10
You’re the One that I want: Both the pilot version and the version sung a few episodes later by Rachel, are weird and not great. I just don’t think Lea fits the song at all. 2/10
Rehab: Enjoyable, if a bit forgettable. It lacks stand-out voices, it’s just Vocal Adrenaline, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but kind of makes it lack. 5/10
Don’t Stop Believin’: Arguably one of the more iconic performances. I remember loving this a lot more when I originally watched the show, but now it’s more for a nostalgia factor. 6/10
Showmance (1x02):
Le Freak: Not good. 1/10
Gold Digger: I’ll admit to liking this song the first time I watched this show, but honestly, it’s not great. And starts a weird trend with Will Scheuster that borders on inappropriate. 3/10
Push It: Same as above in that I liked it more originally, but way to inappropriate in context. (Although that is the point.) But also, not great. 4/10
I Say a Little Prayer for You: I actually really enjoy this one. Mostly because I enjoy a lot of the songs sung by these three girls. 7/10
Take a Bow: Not bad, but not great. It’s a weird song to perform for this episode. 5/10
Acafellas (1x03)
This is How We Do it: No. 1/10
Poison: Not as bad, but still, no. 2/10
Mercy: I always lump this in with Rehab, but I prefer the former. 4/10
Bust Your Windows: I hate this performance. It has nothing to do with Amber Riley’s singing, she’s talented as hell. It’s the context and set up, which I find to be stupid as fuck. 4/10, purely because of Amber’s talent.
I Wanna Sex You Up: NO. 1/10. It’s not even that I hate the singing, I find everything else about it highly inappropriate.

“Most of the time, they’re looking for something between a mother and a waitress.”
“Really evaluate where your strengths and weaknesses are. And be honest.”
“Now, try not to be overwhelmed by all of this technology.”
“You’re really wonderful for looking out for me this way.”
“You look like a hundred bucks.”
“If I was worried, I’d ask you what you’ve got, but I’m not, so I’m just going to assume you’ve got something, which means you should be worried.”
“So you came here because you wanted to watch me get dressed?”
“That’s very funny, it’s not what I meant.”
“You missed a button.”
“Should we drink before the meeting or after? Or both?”
“You seem more relaxed than I expected.”
“We must police ourselves.”
“We’re supposed to believe that people are all living one way and secretly thinking the exact opposite? That’s ridiculous.”
“Just give me the damn report.”
“I don’t want to hear about it anymore.”
“Good luck at the meeting. I’m sure it’ll be a quick one.”
“I know it’s my first day, and I don’t want to seem uncooperative, but do I have to?”
“I brought you some aspirin.”
“You are tough to take first thing in the morning, Pete.”
“Sorry about Mr. Campbell, here. He left his manners back at the fraternity house.”
“You are good with words, Draper.”
“Keep it up, and even if you do get my job, you’ll never run this place.”
“No one will like you.”
“Well, why don’t we make ourselves comfortable?”
“I’m not here to judge you.”
“I really am a very responsible person.”
“We obviously have very different ideas.”
“Gentlemen, I really thought you could do better than this.”
“Let’s not get emotional here, there’s no reason we can’t talk this out.”
“I’m kind of counting on you to help me out.”
“There’s plenty of room at the top.”
“A man like you, I’d follow into combat blindfolded, and I wouldn’t be the first.”
“What the hell are you talking about, are you insane?”
“At least we know that if we have this problem, everybody has this problem.”
“Before you leave, can I just say something?”
“Well, gentlemen, I don’t think I have to tell you what you just witnessed here.”
“Advertising is based on one thing: happiness. And you know what happiness is? Happiness is the smell of a new car. It’s freedom from fear. It’s a billboard on the side of the road that screams with reassurance that, whatever you’re doing, it’s okay. You are okay.”
“Haven’t you had enough of my magic for one day?”
“You’re a whore.”
“I heard you were amazing in the meeting.”
“Fear stimulates my imagination.”
“So, you’re going to ply me with drinks and convince me what a terrible mistake I’m making.”
“You got in trouble, didn’t you?”
“Can I ask you a personal question?”
“Are you asking what’s wrong with me?”
“She won’t get married because she’s never been in love.”
“For a lot of people, love isn’t just a slogan.”
“The reason you haven’t felt it is because it doesn’t exist.”
“You’re born alone and you die alone and this world just drops a bunch of rules on top of you to make you forget those facts, but I never forget.”
“I’m living like there’s no tomorrow because there isn’t one.”
“I guess we’ll be seeing each other again.”
“I’m getting married on Sunday.”
“I wanted to see you tonight. I had to see you.”
“I’ll be right back… don’t move.”

#Shadowhunters Timeline
HERE IT IS, FOLKS. I’ve improved the Shadowhunters timeline (sort of.)
First off, If you want to see this in calendar format, I have created Google Calendars.
Full Shadowhunters Timeline Calendar
Important Malec Moments Calendar
Click on the events to read my notes explaining my reasoning behind choosing that date/time.
(I haven’t tried looking at these calendars from any other time zone; hopefully they will work. Let me know if the times seem off and I will try to fix that.)
If you want the timeline in long form, keep reading.
What Year Is It? Survey says: 2016
There are several indicators in the show that Shadowhunters takes place in 2016. These are as follows, from least to most compelling:
The show began airing in 2016, so it makes sense that’s when it would be set.
In 2x16 the Lewis family observes Yom Kippur. In 2015 and 2017, Yom Kippur was in late September. In 2016, it was in early-mid October. This offers nearly two weeks more for events to unfold.
In 2x05 when Clary is researching warlock case files, Magnus has two infractions dated 2016. Most likely, those infractions were the result of his actions relating to Raj and Alec in 2x03.
In 1x07 when Elaine and Rebecca Lewis are arguing with each other during Simon’s “intervention” Elaine clearly says it’s 2016.
That last one really sort of seals it. The show takes place in 2016.
Immovable Date Indicators
Having determined that the show takes place in 2016, that leaves us with two non-negotiable dates around which to build a timeline:
The first is Clary’s birthday (1x01) which book canon establishes to be August 23. There is an argument to be made that show canon may not adhere to book canon with regard to birthdays, but the writers and producers have repeatedly tweeted out Happy Birthday messages for the characters on their book-canon birthdays.
The second is Yom Kippur (2x16). Yom Kippur in 2016 took place starting at sunset on October 11 and ending after sunset on October 12.
This means that when Simon was fasting for Yom Kippur, it was October 12, and the dinner he and Maia attend with the Lewis family takes place after sunset on the 12th.
Once these two episodes are considered set in stone as having taken place on August 23 and October 12, respectively, we can then build the rest of the timeline around those dates.
A Few More Notes
It’s canonically established that demons have an aversion to sunlight, or are actually killed by sunlight (2x05.)
Thus, it’s a somewhat safe assumption that Shadowhunters tend to work the night shift and sleep during the day. A lot of time when there’s a question of what the characters were doing, it happens in the early part of the day and we can probably headcanon that they were getting some sleep.
This is confirmed (among other places) in 1x04 when Clary, Alec, and Hodge are all asleep when Clary concludes Magnus Bane took her memories, only an hour or two after rescuing Simon at dawn from the Hotel Dumort.
Also, I rely a lot on sunrise and sunset for time clues, but sunrise and sunset happen at different times depending on the date. I have taken those times from this site, for reference.
In season 2B what time it is in Idris becomes increasingly relevant. The show is surprisingly good about remembering that there is a time zone difference. But what time zone? We know from 2x19 that Idris borders Switzerland somewhere, so our safest bet is to assume it’s in the same time zone as Switzerland. In other words, Idris local time is about five hours ahead of New York time.
SEASON ONE (August 23, 2016 - September 8, 2016)
1x01 “The Mortal Cup” Timeframe: August 23 (afternoon) – August 25 (before dawn)
It’s perhaps early to mid afternoon when Clary has her interview at The Brooklyn Academy of Art
Dot is closing the antiques shop when Clary gets home, so we may assume it’s around 5pm when Jocelyn gives Clary her gift. This is also confirmed by the fact that Jocelyn is expecting them to eat dinner together, so it’s around dinner time
Sunset in NYC on August 23, 2016 was 7:42pm. It’s already dark when Clary, Simon and Maureen are talking on top of the van before Simon and Maureen’s gig at the coffee shop, which puts the gig at 9-10pm at the earliest
The events at Pandemonium probably took place sometime between 11pm on the 23rd and 1am on the 24th
When Clary portals into the police station after returning home following the events at Pandemonium, Captain Vargas says it’s 2am (thus it is now the 24th)
When Simon calls after Clary wakes up in the Institute, he says she hasn’t answered her phone in two days. It appears to be in the pre-dawn hours of the 25th at this point (Izzy says she’s about to make breakfast at the beginning of 1x02, which takes place immediately after this scene
1x02 “The Descent Into Hell Isn’t Easy” Timeframe: August 25 (pre-dawn) to August 26 (shortly after midnight)
When Simon finds Clary at the Institute, it’s still dark outside
Once he gets inside, Izzy remarks that she was just about to make breakfast. So we may assume it’s very early in the morning on the 25th.
Exterior shot suggests it’s pre-dawn when Luke is in Clary’s burnt-out room, packing up her belongings
What happens to the rest of the day??? I assume at some point everyone got some sleep (was Simon just hanging out in the Institute all day?)
It looks like it might still be light out judging from the lighting when Izzy is giving Clary more clothes
It’s dark outside when they follow Dot to Pandemonium (sunset on August 25 2016 is 7:37pm)
By the time Clary is done in the City of Bones and Simon is abducted by Raphael, it’s probably well after midnight on the 26th
1x03 “Dead Man’s Party” Timeframe: August 26, ~2am to ~7am
All the events of this episode occur in the early morning hours of August 26
Simon is likely abducted sometime between midnight and 2am
In the cemetery while raiding the weapons cache, Jace and Alec confirm that their rescue mission to retrieve Simon is planned for dawn
Sunrise on August 26, 2016 is 6:18am
The sun is already up when they escape the Hotel Dumort
1x04 “Raising Hell” Timeframe: August 26 (morning) to August 27 (before dawn)
Clary, Simon et al have likely only been back from the Hotel Dumort for an hour or two when Simon wakes Clary from her dream, thus it’s still early morning
Jace tells Izzy to wake Alec and Hodge when Clary realizes Magnus Bane took her memories, quasi-confirming that Shadowhunters tend to keep night-shift hours and sleep during the day
CONTINUITY SNAFU: Even though it was after dawn when they rescued Simon from the Hotel Dumort, it is dark outside the front doors of the Institute when Simon storms out
It’s “not even 9am” when Luke offers Alaric jerky at the police station
It appears to still be daylight outside when Izzy helps Clary find something to wear
When Magnus and Elias argue over Magnus taking the meeting, it looks like it’s dark outside Magnus’s apartment. However, there is some dim, pinkish light on the far left curtain that suggests it could be around sunset and the alley outside Magnus’s balcony doors is just really shadowy
Izzy and Alec are already dressed for the rave when Alec is preparing his arrows, which suggests it’s close to 10pm
CONTINUITY SNAFU: The scene with Simon, Maureen and Elaine Lewis shows it’s clearly still light out, and Elaine says it’s dinner time, so this scene takes place around maybe 6pm. Which means it should really take place before the scene with Magnus and Elias and the scene with Alec and Izzy already dressed for the rave
If Simon didn’t return home until dinner time, but he left the Institute in the morning only an hour or two after sunrise, where was he all day?
The Downworld rave begins at 10pm, according to the flier Izzy displayed earlier in the episode. It doesn’t look terribly busy when our gang is there, suggesting the rave hasn’t been going for long. This meeting probably takes place around 11pm
The Circle probably attacks Magnus’s lair around midnight to 1am on the 27th
Depending on how long it takes Clary to draw that intricate summoning circle, the demon summoning probably takes place around 3-4am
Clary appears to be getting ready for bed when she has her vision of her mother and Valentine, but it seems to still be before sunrise, maybe around 6am
1x05 “Moo Shu to Go” Timeframe: August 27, ~6am to ~9pm
Everyone seems to be getting ready for bed when Clary seems Valentine with the portal shard necklace and Alec confiscates it
It seems reasonable to conclude the slept for part of the day, they’re all dressed in different clothing when Maryse arrives from Idris
Clary slips away around late afernoon
CONTINUITY SNAFU: Prior to the scene of Clary slipping away, Raphael confronts Simon, who is skulking outside the Hotel Dumort. It’s dark in this scene, but still daytime in the scenes before and after
Simon and Clary are abducted by Theo and Alaric before sunset, and rescued not long after sunset, putting the end of this episode at around 8:30 to 9pm
1x06 “Of Men and Angels” Timeframe: August 27 (late evening) to August 28 (early morning)
Episode picks up within an hour of the end of 1x05
Episode ends well before dawn on August 28
1x07 “Major Arcana” Timeframe: August 28 (pre-dawn to late night)
It’s some time in the early morning, well before dawn, when Clary tells Jace, Magnus, and Luke that she knows where the Cup is
CONTINUITY SNAFU: In the first 2x18 flashback, it is established that Alec is still at Magnus’s loft after sunrise, which means he should have been in this meeting with Clary, Jace and Magnus, yet he’s nowhere to be seen. Perhaps he went to the roof to clear his head?
Obviously it’s well after dawn when Alec returns to the Institute and tells Izzy he stayed at Magnus’s all night
It’s probably mid-to-late afternoon when Elaine and Rebecca hold their “intervention” for Simon, since Elaine says she left work early
Sunset on the 28th is 7:42pm. It’s after dark when Clary, Jace, Alec and Izzy run away from the police station after finding the tarot card, so around 8pm
It’s maybe around 9-10pm when Simon returns to the Hotel Dumort and is murdered by Camille
1x08 “Bad Blood” Timeframe: August 29 (pre-dawn to near midnight)
Raphael brings Simon’s body to the Institute sometime before dawn
All events of his episode happen in one day
Simon rises as a vampire probably not long before midnight
1x09 “Rise Up” Timeframe: August 30 (midnight to before sunrise)
All events happen before sunrise on the 30th
Meliorn is arrested probably sometime not long after midnight (possibly even shortly before midnight on the 29th)
Meliorn is rescued by Jace, Clary, and Izzy before sunrise
1x10 “The World Inverted” Timeframe: August 30 (after sunrise to sometime after sunset)
Izzy returns to the Institute sometime after sunrise
It appears to be around dusk when Clary passes into the alternate dimension, however, the Seelie Glade is probably part of Faerie and time doesn’t necessarily move the same way there
Sunset on the 30th is 7:29pm. Simon visits Luke at the Jade Wolf sometime after this
Izzy’s arrest and Alec’s attempt to track Jace probably happen sometime between sunset and midnight
CONTINUITY SNAFU: It’s daylight in the alternate dimension even though it’s dark in the “real” world. There is no explanation for why time moves differently or why Clary would be inserted into a different time in the alternate dimension
1x11 “Blood Calls to Blood” Timeframe: August 31 (morning) to September 1 (late night)
It’s after sunrise when Clary and “Michael Wayland” drag an ailing Jace into the Jade Wolf (take a moment to appreciate Simon cringing away from the sunlight coming through the window)
Izzy is still wearing the same clothes as in 1x10. She's apparently incarcerated in the Head of the Institute’s office, and isn’t being allowed to change her clothes?
The Inquisitor appears to arrive around mid-morning
CONTINUITY SNAFU: The Inquisitor says the trial will commence that evening, however it doesn’t begin until the following evening
Lighting through the window suggests it’s still daylight outside when Alec tells Izzy she needs an advocate. However, it’s dark out when Alec goes to ask Magnus to be Izzy’s advocate. One possible explanation for the trial being delayed is that the Inquisitor granted time for Izzy’s advocate to work up their defense after she chooses someone to represent her?
It’s late night on the 31st when Clary and Luke scout Renwicks
It’s after sunset on September 1st when Izzy’s trial begins
It’s probably close to midnight on the 1st when Jace and Clary return to the Institute and hand over the Cup
1x12 “Malec” Timeframe: September 5 (afternoon/evening) - September 7 (late night)
This date is only a best guess. We have no indicator of how much time has passed since 1x11. It’s likely it’s only been a few days, since everyone is still researching how to wake up Jocelyn, but it seems even Izzy would need at least a few days to pull together a swanky wedding, so let’s assume it’s the better part of a week.
This episode begins before sunset on September 5, it appears to be daylight outside when Jace and Izzy talk about the wedding planning and Alec and Clary thank each other
However, it’s clearly close to sunset as it’s dark when Alec arrives at Magnus’s loft
Clary says it’s 9am (on the 6th) when Magnus is at the Institute to consult about the warlock who bespelled Jocelyn
Jace says “we leave in an hour” meaning they leave to collect Ragnor at 10am
CONTINUITY SNAFU: Even though they leave at 10am, it’s after dark when they return, though they weren’t gone more than an hour or two
Magnus is wearing the same outfit in both his scenes with ghost!Ragnor, suggesting they both happen on the same night. Those scenes bookend Alec’s bachelor party, so this is still the night of the 6th
Exterior shots of the Institute (and Simon’s dialogue earlier in the episode) indicate that the wedding takes place shortly after sunset on the 7th
Hodge absconds with the Mortal Cup late on the 7th
1x13 “Morning Star” Timeframe: September 7 (late) to September 8 (evening)
This episode picks up shortly after 1x12 ends, late at night on the 7th
Jace, Alec and Luke appear to hunt Hodge until the pre-dawn hours of the 8th
It’s after daybreak when Clary, Simon, and Izzy free Camille from the Dumort
The standoff with Valentine appears to happen late afternoon or early evening of the 8th
Jocelyn is awakened sometime after sunset on the 8th
SEASON 2A (September 9, 2016 - September 27, 2016)
2x01 “This Guilty Blood” Timeframe: September 9 (after midnight to late night)
Lydia says she’s been trying to reach the Clave for four hours, so this episode picks up soon after 1x13 ends
Simon says it’s “almost dawn” when Aldertree evicts him from the Institute. Which means Valentine is cooking spaghetti just before dawn in the previous scene???
Several daytime scenes take place but it’s after dark again when Alec visits Magnus to apologize
2x02 “A Door Into the Dark” Timeframe: September 10 (after midnight) to September 11 (late evening)
This episode begins minutes after 2x01 ends, perhaps shortly after midnight on the 10th
However, it’s unlikely the fighters in the dojo were having matches between midnight and sunrise (and also unlikely Valentine was abducting fighters within an hour or two of being shot by a crossbow) so it’s safe to assume the abductions from the dojo take place after sunset later that same day
It’s still dark out when Lydia briefs the Institute about the dojo abductions, but Lydia, Izzy, Clary, and Aldertree have all had a change of wardrobe since the beginning of the episode, confirming that most of the day has passed and they probably got some sleep somewhere in there
The light on the exterior shot of Valentine’s ship is low enough to suggest it’s around dawn the next day
Jocelyn is bringing Clary coffee, which suggests it’s morning of the 11th when Clary leaves the Institute
It’s daytime as Alec and Izzy investigate the fight club
It’s probably late afternoon/early evening when Dot abducts Clary
Sunset on September 11, 2016 was 7:09pm. It was before sunset when Jocelyn proposed her plan for Alec to track Jace, but it’s dark when Alec actually does the tracking
Since it’s unlikely Alec would have delayed putting the plan into action, this suggests it’s fairly early at night (maybe 8-9pm?) when Jace and Clary jump from Valentine’s ship
2x03 “Parabatai Lost” Timeframe: September 12 (daybreak to late night)
NOTE: September 12 is Alec’s birthday
Episode beings after sunrise the morning after Jace and Clary jump from Valentine’s ship (which means they were in the water all night?)
It’s after sunset (7:08pm) when Jace is taken to the hospital
When Maia and Luke search for Jace in the hospital, the ER doctor says he’s been there “a few hours” which means it’s probably around 10pm
Jace likely arrives to revive Alec between 11pm and midnight
Happy birthday, Alec, amirite?
2x04 “Day of Wrath” Timeframe: September 13 (sunset to midnight or shortly thereafter)
The date for this episode is only a best guess. It’s unlikely Clary would have let more than 24 hours pass without going to see Jace. It’s also unlikely Alec would be so sanguine about Jace’s fate if he’d been in the City of Bones for more than a day, but Alec has also clearly had time to rest and recuperate from his near-death experience.
It’s after sunset when Clary goes to see Jace in the City of Bones
Alec has likely spent all day resting and is not looking much better
All events of this episode appear to happen in just a few hours
2x05 “Dust and Shadows” Timeframe: September 14 (after sunset) to September 16 (after sunset)
It’s dark out on the night of the 14th when Alec is shooting arrows off the roof of the Institute and Clary goes to ask Magnus about bringing Jocelyn back
Aldertree briefs the Institute sometime after sunrise (6:38am) on the 15th and says the Rite of Mourning will be “tomorrow night”
Clary visits Iris Rouse sometime during the day of the 15th and says it’s been two days since her mother died
Simon returns to his mother’s house the evening of the 15th
Alec seeks comfort at Magnus’s loft after sunset on the 15th
Rebecca visits Simon and throws out his blood the morning of the 16th
Jace and Izzy spar and Jace tells Izzy about the mission to the Iron Sisters sometime mid-morning on the 16th
Aldertree gives Izzy the yin fen late morning or so on the 16th
Alec and Clary go to see Iris perhaps early afternoon on the 16th
It’s still daylight out on the 16th when Elaine catches Simon feeding on a rat
The Rite of Mourning ceremony takes place after sunset on the 16th
2x06 “The Iron Sisters” Timeframe: September 16 (after sunset) to September 17 (late night)
Raphael arrives to help Simon with Elaine (who is wearing the same clothes she was at the end of 2x05) after sunset on the 16th
CONTINUITY SNAFU: Prior to the scene with Raphael and Simon, there is a scene with Clary and Jace talking about the rune Clary created. However, they are both wearing different clothes than at the Rite of Mourning, as is Izzy when she arrives, and it doesn’t make sense that Clary and Jace would just be business-as-usual researching the rune only an hour or two after the Rite of Mourning for Jocelyn, which suggests that these scenes are out of order and the scene with Clary and Jace should take place maybe the morning of the 17th
Izzy is in a different outfit when she goes to ask Aldertree for a yin fen refill than she was wearing when she went to check on Clary, which suggests this is the afternoon/early evening of the 17th
(Also? Izzy? Goes? Through? A? Whole? Tin? Of? Yin Fen? In? 24? Hours? And Aldertree thinks nothing of it?)
It’s after sunset when Alec responds to Magnus’s fire message
Wherever the Adamant Citadel is located, it’s daytime there while it’s not long after sunset in New York
The rest of the episode happens the evening of the 17th, perhaps even into the post-midnight hours of the 18th
2x07 “How Are Thou Fallen” Timeframe: September 21 (evening) to September 22 (very early, pre-dawn)
The date for this episode is only a best guess. I’m trying to put as much time as possible between 2x06 and this episode, because it doesn’t seem likely that Alec and Magnus are considering sex just a day or two after their first date. Also it should take Cleophas at least a few days to reach Valentine, considering she’s traveling without access to portals, and incognito (how did she get across that volcanic plain outside the Adamant Citadel?)
There is some question whether this episode begins after sunset, or if the sky appears darker than it actually is because of the storm clouds moving in
Alec and Magnus return from their Tokyo date mid-evening, perhaps around sunset
Alec and Magnus’s date is interrupted not long after, still early enough for Magnus to feel like going out for a drink
Alec returns to Magnus’s apartment and proposes sex probably around or shortly after midnight
Clary and Jace free Ithuriel sometime in the wee small morning hours of the 22nd
2x08 “Love is a Devil” Timeframe: September 22 (after midnight) to September 24 (after sunrise)
This episode picks up within an hour or so after the end of 2x07, with Clary and Jace telling Luke about the Soul Sword and Raphael rescuing Izzy
Per the finale 2x18 flashback, Alec wakes up in Magnus’s bed sometime after sunrise and returns to the Institute by, say, mid-morning
Alec returns to Magnus a few hours later, say early afternoon, to ask Magnus to host Max’s party
Simon texts and asks Clary to meet him at 11pm, per Clary’s dialogue
Alec and Maryse argue in Maryse’s office around that same time, so 11pm to midnight on the 22nd
Max’s party starts at 8pm on the 23rd
Max’s rune ceremony is after sunrise (6:46am) on the 24th
2x09 “Bound by Blood” Timeframe: September 26 (afternoon until before midnight)
The date for this episode is only a best guess. There are some compelling arguments for it not to be too soon after 2x08, and also some compelling arguments for it to be quite soon after 2x08:
It seems like the blood oath spell would at least allow Clary a day or two to locate Madzie before upping the threat level
Enough time has passed since 2x08 for Raphael and Izzy to have settled into some sort of “relationship” (if it can be called that under those circumstances)
When taking to the homeless man in the park, Simon says Madzie was taken “a few days ago” which would indicate at least a couple days have passed since 2x08
However, Simon and Clary were determined to spend as much time together as possible, so Clary probably hasn’t been willing to sit around the Institute where it’s safe for very long. And it doesn’t seem likely that Maia, having learned that Clary can activate the Soul Sword, would wait very long before making the attempt on her life.
So it’s anyone’s guess. I’m going to go with two days since the end of 2x08, though.
Iris’s spell seems to take effect maybe mid-afternoon
It's still daytime when Clary and Jace arrive at Magnus’s loft to ask about her arm
It’s not yet sunset when Maia attacks Clary but it gets dark shortly thereafter when Maia explains herself to Luke
The rest of this episode takes place over the next few hours, up to perhaps around midnight
2x10 “By the Light of Dawn” Timeframe: September 27 (midnight to after sunrise)
This episode begins immediately after 2x09 ends
It ends shortly after sunrise the morning of the 27th
SEASON 2B (September 28, 2016 to October 15, 2016)
2x11 “Mea Maxima Culpa” Timeframe: September 28 (before dawn) to September 29 (evening)
The date for this episode is only a best guess. There are no hard and fast indicators of how long has passed since 2x10, but we have a couple of clues (and a few causes for confusion.) Aldertree has been sent back to Idris to face reprimand (one presumes for leaving the Institute vulnerable to Valentine's attack?) Assuming this is true and not a lie like the one about the Soul Sword, at least a day or two has passed, because it would take a while for messages to pass back and forth, for the decision to be made to recall Aldertree, and for Aldertree to return. However, I doubt Imogen Herondale would wait too long before interrogating Valentine, so we may assume she arrives within a day or two of Valentine's capture.
It’s dark when Alec and Jace are sparring in the courtyard. Assuming they still work the night shift, it could be before dawn and they’re unwinding after patrol the morning of the 28th
The low light indicates it’s either sunrise or sunset when Clary and Simon are on the bench. While I’m not sure a hot dog vendor (in the background) would be out and about right at daybreak, I’m going with sunrise because they appear to be looking across the river at Manhattan, which means they’re probably in Brooklyn facing west, and the sun is behind them in the east.
Azazel attacks the bar after dark that night
Alec tends to Izzy the next morning (the 29th)
CONTINUITY SNAFU: The scene immediately following this is Luke confronting Russell in the Jade Wolf, and then Luke gets a call about Azazel's massacre in the bar. If Luke doesn't find out about it until after Alec, who contacted Alec?
CONTINUITY SNAFU CONTINUED: When Alec is notified he clearly says "there was a demon attack" and yet when Clary is looking at the bodies, she says "this looks like a demon attack" as though that is new information (like, why else would they have been called in?) Oh, Michael Reisz. I love you dearly and with all my heart for giving us 1x12, but you are really not a very good writer
(POSSIBLE) CONTINUITY SNAFU: It’s clearly still daylight when Simon and Maia talk in the bar, but the earlier scene with Izzy encountering Azazel in the alley outside the vamp lair made it look like it was after dark. Is the alley underground? Is it under a highway somewhere that doesn’t allow daylight to get in? Demons don’t seem to like daylight, so how is Azazel out and about if it’s not dark?
It appears to be before sunset when Alec visits Magnus to ask about the demon and encounters Raphael
YET ANOTHER CONTINUITY SNAFU: Raphael says Izzy “just” came by the Dumort, but she came by in the morning as he was getting ready for coffin bed and now it’s nearly sunset
When Alec returns to the Institute to tell them Azazel may have Izzy, Clary says the Inquisitor is in a meeting with the Alicante Council. Which I guess means the Alicante Council holds meeting in the middle of the night in Idris, because 6pm New York time would be about 11pm Idris time.
Best guess is the attempt to summon Azazel takes place around 8-9pm
2x12 “You Are Not Your Own” Timeframe: September 29 (late evening) to September 30 (evening)
This episode picks up maybe an hour or so after 2x11 ends, assuming Valentine-in-Magnus’s-Body doesn’t spend more than an hour wandering around looking for Magnus’s loft
Izzy returns to the Institute with Sebastian in tow after sunrise the next morning
Izzy and Simon “visit” Rosa Santiago sometime that afternoon
CONTINUITY SNAFU: Izzy tells Rosa she and Raphael visited her for Bingo night last week, but Izzy stopped seeing Raphael only a few days ago, only hours after learning about Rosa’s existence. So that’s not possible
The body swap is undone sometime after sunset on the 30th
2x13 “Those of Demon Blood” Timeframe: October 3 (late evening) to October 5 (shortly after midnight)
The date for this episode is only a best guess. The flier Clary creates for Simon’s show says “Midnight Tuesday” which would have to mean Tuesday, October 4 because midnight on October 11 would be after the start of Yom Kippur and Simon wouldn’t be able to have a show that night (and also there wouldn’t be time for 2x14 and 2x15 to happen before 2x16, which takes place on October 12.)
Honestly the timeline for this episode is a bit of a mess. It would make a lot more sense if there was a day between solving the murder mystery with Kaelie and Simon’s show, but Magnus’s lack of a costume change indicates it all happens on the same night.
Clary tells Simon about his upcoming show sometime the evening of October 3. Which seems pretty sketchy to me “Hey, baby, I booked you a show for...24 hours from now. Have fun getting ready for that!”
Maia is wearing Costume #1
Clary and Simon find the first body shortly thereafter
Luke is pulled in for questioning by the Inquisitor maybe around midnight or shortly thereafter
The second body is found while Luke is offering his DNA
After daybreak, the Inquisitor addresses the Institute and tells them she’s leaving Jace in charge when she goes
Jace tells them to collect DNA from their friends the morning of the 4th
Alec does to see Magnus for a DNA sample around mid-morning
Apparently Clary decides to take an art class all day, however, because she doesn’t ask Simon for his DNA sample until after the sun goes down (6:31pm)
CONTINUITY SNAFU: Sometime between 6:30 and midnight, Simon refuses his DNA, rescues Clary, gets arrested, gets released, goes home, changes his clothes, and sets up for his show at the Hunter’s Moon
Maia fights Jace over the tracking chip maybe around 8:30pm or so?
Maia’s arrested around 9:30pm then (the Inquisitor says she attacked Jace an hour ago)
When she’s arrested, Maia says she was walking home from work
CONTINUITY SNAFU: Yet at midnight, only a couple hours later, she’s back at work, wearing a different outfit
Izzy saves Max, kills the bad guy, reports back to the Institute, changes her clothes, and head out to catch Simon’s show as well
Simon’s show takes place at midnight (end of Tuesday the 4th/beginning of Wednesday the 5th)
2x14 “The Fair Folk” Timeframe: October 9 (morning through evening)
The date for this episode is only a best guess. The dialogue is somewhat misleading when Jace claims Alec has been in charge for a week, because there’s no possible way it can be a full week since 2x13. Best guess is 5 days since 2x13.
The opening scene with Jace at the piano is misleading; Jace is wearing the same clothes that he was in 2x13 when he hooked up with Maia in the alley, and from the dialogue we’re meant to assume he just got back from that hookup, but since he later says Alec has been in charge for a week, he and Maia have hooked up more than once
It’s after sunrise when Alec briefs the Institute and sends Jace and Clary on their mission to the Seelie Court
It’s after sunset when the Downworld cabinet begins, however, as established both by the scene with Luke getting the fire message at the Jade Wolf and by the fact that Raphael is in attendance
2x15 “A Problem of Memory” Timeframe: October 10 (after midnight) to October 11 (2am)
Raphael says in this episode that the bleeder den doesn’t open until midnight, which means the scene where Simon and Quinn go to the bleeder den takes place after midnight, a few hours after the events of 2x14
While it seems unlikely Simon would go out to the Hunters Moon so soon after 2x14, he did just originally intend to get some blood to go, so he was either hungry or intending to drink his sorrows away while moping in private; he didn’t intend to go out and get wild
Alec wakes alone sometime after sunrise
Again, because the bleeder den doesn’t open until midnight, it’s sometime after midnight when Simon confronts Quinn
Magnus tells Alec about his past sometime between midnight and 2am
(POSSIBLE) CONTINUITY SNAFU: While briefing her team earlier, Izzy says Valentine’s transfer is set for 2am, which would be 7am Idris time, but it’s already after sunrise in Idris when they arrive, and sunrise shouldn’t have been until after 7:30am if Idris is in the same time zone as Zürich, Switzerland
2x16 “Day of Atonement” Timeframe: October 12 (morning to evening)
Simon is fasting when Maia comes to visit him, which means it’s October 12, as Yom Kippur began at sunset on October 11
Simon and Maia go to dinner with his family after sunset on the 12th, which means the end of Yom Kippur
All the events of this episode take place from the morning of the 12th to the evening of the 12th
2x17 “A Dark Reflection” Timeframe: October 13 (morning to late night)
Alec tells Max he’s approved to begin going on missions the morning of the 13th
Izzy confronts Alec about Max later that morning
Jonathan attacks Elliot Nourse sometime after sunset (which is 6:17pm on the 13th)
Alec is "a few hours" late for dinner (which was probably scheduled for 6 or 7pm) thus the dinner date scene should probably actually take place around 9-10 pm. However, given how much else happens in this episode and the fact that most of 2x18 takes place before sunrise the next day it makes more sense for the dinner date scene to happen earlier
Magnus confronts Alec about withholding the information about the Soul Sword an hour or two after their dinner date
CONTINUITY SNAFU: According to their website, the last paddleboat rental at Prospect Park goes out two hours before to sunset, which means Simon and Maia are S.O.L. Oops
Max confronts Jonathan in Alec’s office perhaps around 11pm to midnight
2x18 “Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen” Timeframe: October 14 (midnight to after sunrise)
Izzy finds Max unconscious in her room perhaps sometime after midnight
Alec goes to Magnus’s loft to ask for his help before sunrise
Exterior shots establish that Jonathan attacks the Elite Guardsmen in the courtyard right around sunrise
It’s still quite early in the morning when Clary reveals Jonathan and Magnus breaks up with Alec
2x19 “Hail and Farewell” Timeframe: October 14 (morning to evening)
Jonathan has his meltdown while it’s still early morning
Clary, Jace and Izzy find Sebastian Verlac’s body in Jonathan’s apartment perhaps mid-morning
While it doesn’t look like it’s daylight outside Alec’s office when he briefs the Inquisitor about the Mirror, it’s nighttime in Idris, which suggests it must be afternoon in New York
The meeting with the Downworld Council takes place late morning or early afternoon
The lighting when Raphael and Izzy talk suggests it’s getting close to sunset, but there are several more outside scenes that take place in the daylight afterward
It’s just before sunset when Valentine attacks the funeral to make the Forsaken
It’s after sunset when Clary, Izzy, Alec, and Jace track Jonathan to the cemetery and “kill” him
Valentine strikes his deal with the Seelie Queen late that night
2x20 “Beside Still Water” Timeframe: October 15 (sunrise to late night)
This episode begins after sunrise with Jonathan washing up on the beach and opening the rift to Edom
Alec et al confront the dragon over Manhattan perhaps mid-morning
Alec asks for Magnus’s help closing the rift in the late morning
Magnus, Alec, and Izzy close the rift around noon
It's just after sunset in Alicante (1pm New York time) when Jace and Clary escape and kill Consul Malachi and his headsman
It’s maybe 2:30-3pm New York time when Valentine summons Raziel
I have my doubts that they’d be able to report to the Inquisitor in Alicante that they killed the Consul and un-summoned the angel and still make it back to New York in time to attend a party that night, HOWEVER the characters in the party clearly state a number of times that it’s still the same day, I so guess they managed it
And there you have it. Stay tuned for Season 3a!

Underneath - Arrow Music Notes 5x20
Chase traps Oliver and Felicity in the bunker which forces many emotions to bubble to the surface. Important conversations and relationships usually mean beautiful and powerful music and this episode was no exception. The Flashbacks also explored Felicity and Oliver’s time between seasons with a return of a few beloved themes. (Spoiler alert: this is going to be very Olicity focused. There are one or two major Oliver moments and a few other brief moments for the other characters but most of this review is about Olicity. So for the few of you who are not Olicity fans but love the music enough to deal with my bias...go ahead at your own risk. You have been warned)
Flashbacks
The Flashbacks occur 11 months before the present day situation when Oliver, Felicity, and Curtis are a good and happy team. The music reflects it with water-glasses (Felicity’s instrument) and higher electronics as they talk about being a good team and how Oliver doesn’t want to train a new team. Piano (Oliver’s instrument) enters as he says “You know me too well” after they both agree on new sleeves.
Curtis thought they were back together due to all the longing looks they are sending each other. Felicity explains (over water-glasses and piano) that Oliver doesn’t trust her enough emotionally. Curtis arranges Chinese and wine, setting them up and we hear his old themes back: the rotating electronics, fun strings, and clarinet.
A fun variation on Felicity’s humorous strings play as she attempts the Salmon Ladder and Oliver is amused. However, the moods shifts and the main Olicity theme “The One I Love” (first heard in 2x23) returns as they make out. I love how each musical version of this theme is slightly different. This version begins with the repeating harp (Felicity’s instrument - first appears in 3x01 as Felicity walks away from the kiss). The violins get the melody this time instead of the cellos and then soars up an octave in the counter-melody part (heard in its fullness in 3x20 “Convince Him”) as the piano and oboe plays the melody in unison. The oboe first plays in this melody in 3x20 (the “I love You”/sex scene) and is used throughout Season 4 as Oliver and Felicity love each other and are together. The piano first introduced the theme in 2x23 and suggests both love and longing. What is interesting in this version is the overlaying of the two melodies in different registers. It gives both intensity, beauty, and passion.
In contrast, this theme returns in solo piano with harp as they cuddle afterwards. Their individual instruments give a sense of intimacy and quietness before Felicity sits up and tells Oliver it doesn’t change anything as the strings quietly plays the melody used in 4x15 when Felicity broke up with Oliver. She says it is because he doesn’t trust her as piano returns and she wishes she knew why as the violins play “The One I Love”. As Felicity tells him that she can’t settle for anything less than his full trust, the harp plays the same motive from 4x15 when she walked out.
The final piece of the Flashbacks is when Felicity comes by the next day to apologize for walking out the way she did at the initial break-up as flute, strings and harp plays “Let Each Other Go” from 4x16 when Oliver promised no more lies and Felicity closed the door on their relationship. Here, Felicity slightly opens the door but admits that she is not ready to talk about it yet. Oliver states that he is not going anywhere as the clarinet plays (very rarely used for the two of them together). The harp keeps this theme going as the scene switches to the present with Oliver in the hospital bed. (More on that in a bit)
In many ways, the Flashbacks encapsulated much of Season 4 musically: the love and passion of “Convince Him”, Felicity stepping back (theme from 4x15 break-up), moving apart “Let Each Other Go”. There is no doubt of their love for each other and Oliver’s willingness to wait is beautiful and heart-breaking yet his inability to face the darkest part of himself and trust at a deep level still puts a barrier up for Felicity’s need for absolute trust. Over time, the walls grew, both tried to move on, Oliver was broken by Prometheus, and Felicity went dark with Helix. Which lead us to the present day.
Present Day
The episode begins with an EMP going off trapping Oliver and Felicity in the bunker. A lot of the music during these scenes alternate between intensity in trying to get out with emotional conversations with returning musical themes. While the intense music is really good from the unsettling electronics at the beginning all the way to the hero moments in the elevator shaft (that was quite impressive), I want to focus on the conversations.
At the beginning (after shooting exploding arrows at the door), Oliver realizes that they are trapped down there so they can’t stop Chase from his next move. The music switches from bass pulses and electronics to horns but as soon as William is brought up the music turns to strings and piano echoing Oliver’s emotional concern for his son.
Oliver decides to climb up the elevator shaft (great use of Hero theme 2 in the horns and cello scale patterns), gets knocked down, becomes injured, and Felicity stitches him up. Felicity brings up their discussion from the previous episode that Oliver did not support her decision with Helix which to her showed a lack of trust. As she shares her feelings, her instruments (water-glasses and harp) and piano play as Oliver concedes to listen and try things her way.
They try Felicity’s way to get power using Oliver’s bike and as they wait, Oliver is the one to bring up Helix. For him, it was not a lack of trust but a concern that she would turn out like him in releasing a criminal and choosing a darker path for “justice.” Felicity feels that Oliver is being hypocritical considering he called the Bratva in not too long ago. As they discuss/argue, “Trust but Verify” plays. Until now, that theme had been used primarily for Oliver and Diggle (first in 1x11) primarily in regards to Ted Gaynor, Moira, and Floyd Lawton. At that point, the mission was just the two of them and they were dealing with learning how to trust each other and pointing out blind-spots with family, friends, and revenge. This is the first time Felicity and Oliver were on opposite sides for a mission. Yes, they had trust issues in their personal relationship but they still trusted each other when it came to the Arrow Cave. They need to address their individual views regarding issues of trust but also Felicity choosing a darker path for the sake of justice and vengeance.
Felicity’s plan works briefly but then it releases methane gas. They have to find a place of safety to breathe and go down into a steam tunnel. Between the gas and blood loss, Oliver starts to lose consciousness and collapses. He apologizes for not having her back and confesses that he didn’t trust himself. He shares what Chase had led him to believe: that he was not the man that Felicity fell in love with and that his mission was based on a lie. As he admits this, “Scars” (1x01) beings to play. This is first heard when Oliver looks into the mirror in the pilot and his scars are revealed: “The face I see in the mirror is a stranger.” It is used when the List and box of arrows were revealed, when he killed the bird in Flashbacks (1x04), when Diggle tells him in 1x02 that home is a battlefield, when he admits to Felicity on their date in 3x01 that she was the first person he saw that wasn’t a target but a person, when he struggled with no longer being the Arrow in 3x19: “I don’t know who I am.” This music reflects the deep wounds that he came back to Star City with both physically and emotionally. Oliver is shaken to his core that deep down he became the Arrow because part of him enjoyed killing. He is seeing darkness in his soul and can’t trust himself due to the lie he believes about himself.
Oliver wakes up after passing out and realizes they are out of options for escaping. Felicity takes this opportunity to address what he confessed. Piano begins as he sits down and Felicity tells him that the idea that he enjoys killing is crazy. Strings join in as she tells him that she knows exactly the kind of man that he is. She reminds him that he was tortured for a week and that despite the years of hell and crime-fighting, he did not become a monster like he believes. The music is quiet and slow, giving space for this important speech as Oliver listens and then admits he has no idea what kind of person he is anymore.
Felicity and Oliver get out thanks to the team and Diggle (the music during that scene is a great mixture of Team Arrow type music with intense percussion, electronics, and rhythmic strings.) Harp plays as Lyla tells Felicity that Oliver asked to see her and she is visibly concerned about him.
As Felicity enters the room, the music “Let Each Other Go” continues from the Flashbacks for the remainder of the scene. The parallels and contrast is strong using the same music for this scene with 4x16 when Felicity gives back the ring and told him that it is over. There Felicity told him that he would always default to the man from the Island: alone and hiding things from her in difficult decisions. Now, Felicity apologizes for judging him and doing the same with Helix, being willing to do anything for payback. In the Flashbacks, she wanted to understand why and now she does. The beautiful and heart-breaking part of “Let Each Other Go” is that it combines “The One I love” followed by Arrow/Oliver’s slow theme followed by “Someone You Love” in piano and strings. “The One I Love” plays during her confession in response to his opening up. Because he gave her that why and vulnerably opened up, she can now respond in kind and see her decisions clearly. Oliver’s slow theme plays as she shares that she got a little taste of what it was like for him and as the camera focuses on his face. Oliver is receiving both an apology but more importantly forgiveness in light of his confession which he desperately needs. The scene ends with “Someone You Love” as she tells him that he should figure out the kind of person he is. Usually, that music is used with goodbyes and failures especially between Felicity and Oliver. But it was also used in moments of always: promising getting through hard times together (speech in 4x09), Oliver promising Felicity she is part of the team “Forever and always” in 4x16, and Oliver promising never to lie to her again in the fake wedding vows. Moments of angst and heart-break yet also beautiful promises for the future. Felicity and Oliver are not back together yet they have a deeper understanding and trust now. It could be seen as closure or a door opening for the future. A moment of hope.
Extra Notes:
- Prometheus string scales appear at the end as Chase talks to William. (Leave the kid alone!)
- This episode had everything I had been waiting for both in the conversations and the music. 11 months is a long time! I was so happy to hear Olicity themes again.

okay, well today was fine. I only had one case up in court and it was pretty simple. so I woke up at 8:45 and did my thing, once I got on Zoom I got put into a breakout room with the client pretty quickly (client only speaks Spanish, so not much we could chat about) and then into the courtroom not too long after that. everything went fine as expected and I was basically done at like 10 am, so that was a nice change. I couldn’t help thinking this was the coordinators trying to make up for the fact that I waited 6 hours to get into the courtroom yesterday lol and I mean if so I’ll take it. I was pretty sleepy still so not too long afterwards I went back to bed and set an alarm for 2 pm so I don’t sleep too too long. when I woke up I had a message from my coworker about a case and at first when I read it I thought she had wanted me to help with one of the clinic cases and I had been asleep which would’ve been a big oh crap, but then realized she was referring to one of the cases I’m taking up for her tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is just going to be hell in court, I had cases up in all 3 courtrooms and so did everyone else, so we just had to split them by courtroom, so I have people covering some of my cases and I’m covering some of their cases, and I ended up with 3 of them that I was responsible to take up, at least two out of three clients are going to be there and based on the very complicated note my above mentioned coworker had written me about the case, that one’s really gonna be a doozy and we’re doing our best to stay within the allowed boundaries of legal ethics which can get really sticky, so the plan pretty much is to say as little as possible and let the other side yell their face off and piss off the judge while we do nothing, so we’ll see how that goes. After getting up I did some work stuff for a few hours and put in an instacart order. I ended up finishing the Goldbergs, not realizing when it was the last episode until it started playing “American Housewife” at which point I was not motivated enough to turn something else on so I ended up watching a good chunk of that show, which is interesting, it’s definitely funny but in a bit of a strange way. anyway. I was supposed to receive my pills for the one medication from cvs today, so I walked down the stairs at some point and saw that they were there which I was pleased about. I was also looking for a cane that I had ordered off amazon because at this point who tf knows how long this is going to be an issue and I can’t just like, stop leaving my apartment entirely. But even though it was marked as delivered by amazon it wasn’t down by where the mail is, at which point I concluded they must’ve left it on the front porch, so I went to go grab it from there only to realize it was raining, so I figured I’d go grab it when I came down to get the groceries. like an hour or two later I got the notification that my groceries had been dropped off, so I went to grab them and oh wait, they much like amazon didn’t follow my delivery instructions and now all the groceries were sitting on the front porch. well fuck. so I get my key and walk over there, carefully up the 5-6 steps that are now wet, and try to grab my groceries and the amazon package but the minute I try to step down the stairs carrying the groceries I was immediately unbalanced and had to just sit down like immediately to stop from falling. ugh dammit. this was the worst. so I went ahead and opened the amazon package to find a collapsible cnae, so I put that together and see if it helps, kinda maybe? I’m able to take like a third of the groceries back to the side door and then come back for the rest of the bags and then the toilet paper and paper towel packages, which were of course the whole reason I’d made the order in the first place. I could feel it like, building up in my legs but I just ignored it and ended up being alright going up and down the stairs and didn’t fall, so I’m going to call that a win. the issue now is I badly need to do my laundry and I do have the $10 in quarters from the bank the other day, but the washer and dryer are in the basement, and I feel like trying to carefully get down another set of stairs while carrying/dragging this big and heavy hamper might not be the best idea, but like, there really isn’t much else I can do, I guess I could try bringing clothes down a little at a time and see if that helps. I’ll figure it out. once everything was situated we had to start recording our podcast episode, which was a rewatch of episode 1x02. I hope these turn out actually interesting for people and now just boring because like, idk what else to do at this point, we really don’t have any material or content that we could even speculate on, but I think at least we’re getting a bit better at talking about it and all, or I hope at least. so that was good. after that I went back to the tv show I was watching and then to the news at some point after 10, and ended up going to shower and start getting ready for bed not too long afterwards, and now I’m here and of course it’s 1 am why wouldn’t it be, so I’ll leave this here and go to bed now. Goodnight lovelies. Congrats on making it halfway through the week.
