Actually, the second and third kinslayings cannot rightfully be called unjust. In both cases the victims were presented with morally affirmed terms and had no justifiable reason to refuse: yet they did.
Who is to say all the victims were innocent? Who among them attempted to return the silmaril to its rightful owners? Is every bystander not somehow guilty of retaining the jewel?
I hate the apotheosis — literal — of Elwing, when she was not technically justified in her decisions. Am I saying it was okay, what Maedhros and his brothers did? No. But I’m not saying it was right what the people of Sirion did, either.

Learned about that second version of Bilbo's Eärendil poem yesterday, and I guess some of the variants it proposes do sound better than the version in FotR, while others not.
However.
The thing that stood out the most for me was that it actually has a verse about the Third Kinslaying, so conspicuously absent in the LotR version? And I really cannot help but make an interpolation that Bilbo did write that verse and got told by Aragorn to remove it. Or saw it was insensitive and decided against including it himself.
----------------------
Also, that verse includes the word "Fëanorians" by the way, so there is, it seems, some semi-canonical basis in using it.

I shudder to imagine what was going through Maedhros's head in the aftermath of Sirion. Nothing good, that's for sure.
Anyway, a note on character design, (It's his hair, of course it's his hair, I have no self control) when i draw him, his hair is a strong indicator of his mental state. At this point, he's so far gone that he doesn't even give enough of a shit to cut it short any more (which I hc as an act of reclaiming in the wake of angband, controlling one of the very few things he still can about his appearance.)
P.S. I spent way too long on this to tolerate tumblr quality, so please click on it and take a closer look!

Anyway, I think Elrond had a breakdown on Elladan and Elrohir's sixth birthday because they're so young, which means that he and Elros were that young when—

I think Maglor should have seen Dior killing Curufin (and / or Celegorm) and then do like Achilles with Hector. Tie his corpse to his horse and drag it through the halls of Menegroth

if you could send one (1) elf who died in the First Age to Rivendell shortly before the War of the Ring, who would you choose?
rules:
they'll get sent forward at the moment of their death (there's a corpse left behind)
they are still injured and will need medical attention
they aren't told anything and they don't have any additional knowledge, just what they knew when they died

Maedhros: You assassinated the king?!
Celegorm: Assassination implies it was politically motivated. I killed him because he was rude. Technically that's murder.
Maedhros: What you call it doesn't matter!

Tumblr: My fave Silm characters totally smoke weed.
You fool. No they don’t. Put away the stoner jokes and use your critical thinking skills for five seconds.
The Noldor do not and would never smoke weed. Thranduil smokes weed because he’s a chill party guy who likes to get fucked up. The Noldor are type A aggressive control freaks.
The Noldor do coke.

The Second Kinslaying, Dior vs Curufin.
(click on the image for better quality)
Right after Dior killed Celegorm. I dare say Curifin did not take that well.
I'm not perfectly satisfied with this... Hopefully I'll make a better version someday, but I've been working on this long enough and I want to post this already.

I do love Celebrimbor takes where post-death/rebirth he actually has very little to say to his family until they show some signs of remorse or personal growth from the atrocities they committed in Middle-earth.

Anyway, I cannot stand permanently sad endings in my headcannons and RPs so guess who got reimbodied À La Glorfindel after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad?
