I remembered I had this chipped clay lighthouse, and now I also have a sculpture/decorative lamp idea that won't leave me alone 🙃
Looks like I'll be getting out my polymer clay in the near future. (And figure out what kind of light to get for it)
I'm thinking of adding a little Ed and Stede too, because well, duh 😁

Let’s say season 2 is ten episodes long, what episode do you want an Ed and Stede reunion? As much as I want episode one so they have nine episodes to fix their shit, imagine the parallel between S1 and S2. S1 showing Stede without Ed for the first 3 episodes so we understand who he is. S2 showing Ed without Stede for the first three episodes so we can see how the Kraken has developed while they’ve been apart.

Ed and Stede and it’s like
What can I say
Without a say
We’ve got a way to go
And what can I do
To get back to you
And help us to find a home
To search the green and town

Wanted to share a sketch I did at work in my downtime. I never really have the patience to sit down and try drawing, but every now and then I go for it.
In this sketch, I included the different shade silhouettes to represent the new lives they’re learning how to accept since everything changed. Stede is a very soft soul who feels surrounded by this new life of violence and chaos. Ed is riddled with darkness from his past and his clear distaste for himself, but life pulling Stede into his vision has caused a lot of clarity surrounding him despite his darkness. Ed is so incredibly fragile to heartbreak because this is the first time he’s ever felt like he may be deserving of something good. On the other hand, Stede has always thought himself rather kind and loveable, but until Ed no one had really loved him before. I tried to parallel them to show how completely opposite their lives turned out to be.
Of course some of the obvious details are just cute comfort items I felt held significance in the show like the orange, the marmalade, tea cup, the plant, the burnt map corner, the white flag of surrender, the chain, and the moth.
The lighthouse and kraken always felt to me like the versions of themselves that they loathed the most. For Ed of course letting the kraken take over and succumbing to his ruthless ways completely, undeserving of love. And Stede never truly finding love and belonging because he is a lighthouse stuck on the shore, literally avoiding contact with the life he really yearns for at sea. Throughout the future of the show, I am hoping to see Ed and Stede find a a way to live with those parts of them and not shut them out as if they never existed. Mostly because I feel like the Kraken and the Lighthouse will always be important parts of them; the parts that led them to each other in the first place.
The banners read, “You’re the fire and the flood, and I’ll always feel you in my blood,” lyrics from Vance Joy’s Fire and the Flood.
