Favorite cover song?
ohhhhh great question!!!! i love covers <33
The first song that came to my head was Mrs Robinson by The Lemonheads, cause it's such a good example of a song from a completely different genre that was adapted into another one, that kept the spirit of the song but made it into a new thing also. Plus it's super fun!!!
Idk if Christmas standards count as covers but The Beths' version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is insane. give it a listen when the season rolls around
And lastly Les Feuilles Mortes by Dalida. For english speakers you would know the original as Autumn Leaves, popularized by Nat King Cole, which is in itself a cover of Prévert's original song. It's like a slow, jazzy ballad, and she made it into a disco banger!!! The instrumentation is SO FUN and the production is insane. This song feels like being in the middle of a windy spiral as leaves fly all around you it's crazy!!!

It's time for Beginnings, the podcast where writer and performer Andy Beckerman talks to the comedians, writers, filmmakers and musicians he admires about their earliest creative experiences and the numerous ways in which a creative life can unfold.
On today's episode, I talk to musician Evan Dando. Attending the CommonWealth School in Boston in the early 1980s, Evan met Ben Deily and Jesse Peretz, and in 1986, they formed The Lemonheads. The band released three great albums on Taang!, but it wasn't until after signing to Atlantic and releasing It's a Shame About Ray in 1992 that the band broke through. While there have been numerous ups and downs, personnel changes, a six-year hiatus, during which Evan released a wonderful album under his own name, The Lemonheads have endured through the decades. They've recorded a number of new singles, and starting in early February, Evan will be touring across the US!

I love covers. I love this one by the Lemonheads. Mrs. Robinson is an iconic song. Evan Dando elevates it.
