i've spent the last three nights watching thrillers / horrors from the 50s and 60s, and the common thread in ALL of them has been the fear of the lecherous man. the division between the protection of the feminine domestic indoors and the male violence outside the walls of the house. it's borderline astonishing how consistent the line of fear is. anyway. i'm feeling a film essay brewing.
