Fave thing about her: I like how blunt she is. Like, she gets nicer as time goes on but just straight up telling you how she thinks you suck? Alright, respect. 

And like Kankuro I like the fact that she enjoys being the big sister. She falls into the role pretty easily and as time goes on she becomes a bit more affectionate towards her brothers. In her own Temari way of course. I mean her ideal world has her brothers fighting for her time and attention and idk it really says a lot. What her brothers think mean so much to her. And yeah, they’re all they have and all who they can count on. 

I’m just a sucker for siblings!!!

Least Fave: I really hate how she treats Tenten after winning their match in the chunin exams. It’s just...so disrespectful. Again, I get it...preteens, blood thirsty ninjas in child gladiator matches what have you but man, I hate seeing Tenten just wrecked on top of her fan then kinda thrown aside like trash.

On a less serious note: why isn’t there a flashback to Temari making her contract with Katamari??? I WANNA SEE HOW TEMARI MET THE WEASEL! WHY ISN’T THAT A THING. MURDER WEASEL!!!

Favorite line: There was an exchange where this revived sand-nin tells her that he loves her and she’s just like, “?!?” and just bluntly tells him “no I didn’t cry when you died” when he asked if she cried for him after finding out he died lmao.

3. Do you have a favorite scene you’ve written from Star Trek AU? 

OH JEEZ. this is Such a hard question because star trek au is my baby and so many pieces of that series mean so much to me. i also think my answer to this question will forever be shifting as the fic isn’t finished yet (and won’t be... for a while... rip), but my current answer is probably the one-two punch of Those Itachi and Shisui Scenes™ from chapter three of part three: 

Shisui had thought that, should he have the misfortune to end up face-to-face with Itachi during this conversation he would find the man infuriated, his expression brimming with the fearsome temper his Vulcan convictions force him to keep up lock and key. But right now Itachi doesn’t resemble a ferocious Vulcan warrior, all snarling teeth and righteous fury. Right now, with his rain-damp face and frantic dark eyes, he’s wild in a way that’s even more frighteningi. “Look at me,” Itachi all but begs him, and Shisui stops breathing entirely. With blood pounding between his ears, he listens as Itachi cries, “ Speak to me. Tell me what it is I have done to wrong you, if there is such a thing, and what it is you want from me.”

And just like that, Shisui’s composure finally fucking breaks. “What I want from you?” he asks with a laugh, the sound caught between disbelief and bitterness. He feels just as crazy as Itachi currently looks, unrestrained and reckless and completely unable to hold back the reply he knows he should continue to keep buried as deep within him as it will go.

“Everything,” Shisui says simply, lips curving into a grin he hates the feeling of. “That’s the whole damn problem, isn’t it?” Just as quick as Itachi before him, he grabs Itachi’s wrist and adds, with a rasp that he can see sends a shiver through the man’s frame, “I want everything from you.”

Shisui’s disappointed more people than he can count during his lifetime, but it’s never felt like this. For all the mistakes he’s made and the paths he’s gone down, there’s never been a single thing he’s regretted more than the way Itachi’s currently looking at him. “I’m sorry,” he says, the apology falling from his mouth in a pathetic and frantic display as he reaches out to the man recoiling from him. “Itachi, I am so fucking sorry that I--”

“Don’t touch me!” Itachi yells back, pulling away from Shisui’s outstretched hand. “Don’t you dare try to touch me right now.” Shaking his head in disbelief, he tells Shisui, the words raw and cracked-open, “You stumble in here and confess to lying to my face for months and expect me to forgive you merely because you feel sorry about it?”

To that, Shisui has no response, merely stands there and takes it as Itachi tears into him. “I have trusted you more than I have ever trusted anyone in this life, and in return for my faith you spat on me. We were supposed to be partners.”

“We are,” Shisui argues quietly.

“No,” Itachi insists. “If you respected me at all you never would have treated me like this. You wouldn’t have made me feel like a fool for ever believing in you.” All at once the righteous fire burns of Itachi, leaving exhaustion and confusion in its wake.

It’s then that Itachi turns to him and delivers the most devastating blow of all: “Who are you?”

because i have been waiting for this bomb to go off for 1.5years and i was genuinely so satisfied at how this chapter came out. it was everything i planned and wanted it to be, and watching the reactions from people has been a blast.

28. Is there a part of you’re surprised no one has picked up on yet for Salvation Comes Only in our Dreams

not exactly mostly because, as much as i like the idea of this au, it’s kind of the red-headed stepchild of my projects and doesn’t get updated as much it should/i’d like (which is hilarious, because as far as my stats go, it’s actually my most popular fic for shiita. go figure, lol.) 

i’ve said this before, but part of the difficulty of this fic is that, while i have the major plot beats sketched out, in a lot of ways i’m flying by the seat of my pants and making shit up as i go. there’s also a lot more ~mystery to this fic than, like, star trek au for example, so i am curious about people’s theories regarding where the fic will end up and why certain plot points have played out the way they have. 

one thing i Will give away is the origin of the fic’s title. like every other person who came of age during early 2010s tumblr culture, i tend to use lines of poetry or song lyrics to title my writing, and massacre au is no exception. the title comes from the song ‘terrible lie’ by nine inch nails, and seemed appropriate since the whole point of the song is basically begging for understanding in a cruel and seemingly random world (and also hating christianity, as most songs from the ‘pretty hate machine’ era of NIN are):

it’s also my favorite song off my favorite album, so it was very funny for me to realize just how well it fits this au. i’d recommend giving it a listen if you want to get a better idea of the ~vibe of the story. if i’d consider it to be from itachi or shisui’s pov (or both)... well, i’ll let you guess for yourself :)

Evil Author Day WIP # 4

A long time ago someone requested a fic about Sasuke discovering his feelings for Sakura after she got hurt. This is the start of it. Once upon a day, I will finish it *Stares off into the distance dramatically*

It shouldn’t have happened.  

The words repeat themselves on a loop in Sasuke’s head, like a record player tossed asunder, skipping unerringly back over the same line in a song. In every momentary pause where the words begin to repeat, there is a breath, an extended moment of tension where his chest feels tighter and tighter.  

She hasn’t been on active duty rosters since the war. Her field is medicine, not defense or combat or infiltration, and as strong and talented as Haruno Sakura is, she’s still human and prone to mistakes. Shinobi work isn’t like riding a bike. You have to continue to exercise your particular skillset daily, or mistakes can be made, leading to mishaps, leading to—

It shouldn’t have happened.

When the call came in for a relief force of medic-nin, it wasn’t unusual. War or no, there are still major medical emergencies and disasters. In this case, reports reached Konoha of an earthquake 350 miles away which, though the villagers had barely felt a tremor, had apparently devastated the shepherding community living at the base of the mountain.  

As a rule, Sakura should have stayed behind to coordinate everything from the village; with Tsunade on another of her gambling jaunts, she was the most senior medic-nin.  

But the devasted town was without its own medical corps, and the number of injured was overwhelming. Every able pair of hands was needed and naturally Sakura volunteered herself for the mission.

“I can do the work of a dozen medics and they might need someone to lift debris,” she informed the Sixth Hokage when he seemed about to protest. “I also trained the latest group of emergency medics going out there; they’re still relatively untested in the field. Better they take their orders from me than some random jounin that you assign.”  

Kakashi knew better than to argue with his former student.  

“Do you need anyone else beyond the emergency medics?”

“Any civilians with basic first aid training. Whichever doctors and staff can be spared,” she replied. “The general surgeons perhaps, but no one with specialized training or techniques that we would suffer from losing.”  

Kakashi nodded and made a gesture she recognised to mean she would be granted the request.

“Ideally, you’d send Naruto as well. He could use the Nine-Tails chakra to mass-heal the simplest injuries. It would make triage a lot faster.”

“That’s not in my power. I’m already on thin ice with the Elders for my executive order to pardon Sasuke. I doubt they’ll want him leaving the village any time soon.”  

Sakura scowled.  

Under normal circumstances she would argue—she had long ago made plain her dislike and distrust for the village Elders—but every minute spent arguing was wasting crucial time.  

“Can you try to convince them?” she asked as she turned leave the office. “We should be sending out best for this.”

“We already are,” Kakashi said easily, and there was a smile in his eyes; the one Sakura returned was only a little strained, mind already on her future patients.

Sasuke was on a short, probationary mission at the time, in the complete opposite direction from the disaster zone. He didn’t even hear about the earthquake until two days later.  

Even then, it didn’t occur to him that Sakura would be in any kind of danger—at least nothing she wasn’t capable of handling.  

For those two days, Sasuke carried out his usual routine, slowly acclimating to being back in the village. It still wasn’t his preference to be around so many people, and there was a constant sense of discomfort that lingered at the back of his mind. The feeling of eyes on him from all over, ANBU and civilian alike, heavy with judgement and fear.  

The only time that feeling abated, even for just a little, was when he was around Sakura, Naruto or Kakashi, but he wasn’t about to seek any of them out.  

He had earned that judgement and fear, he would learn to live with it. It would be an easy thing to leave the village and never return, but he didn’t deserve easy. Remaining here was part of his punishment.

When Kabuto was a kid, he’d loved birds. He’s a snake fan, now, but he does remember telling Nono how cool it would be to fly, to use wings and flight to keep his family safe.

It’s replaced by something comparatively recent: he remembers the first time he’d attempted to throw his life away for Orochimaru’s. A Shinobi sent to hunt them down had somehow managed to get close, and Kabuto had acted without thinking - instinctively throwing himself before the blade, letting it slash down his form even as he does the same to the enemy with his own Chakra Scalpel.

He thought he was going to die, that day. And he was okay with it. 

His last thought before unconsciousness had claimed him was how, sometimes, falling could feel like flying. 

Kabuto hadn’t died, not then. Maybe now, with a new war, over twelve years since the last one, his odd luck would run out, and he’d be killed.

But I can’t die now. I -

He has Mitsuki bundled in his arms. The two of them had been separated from Orochimaru, from Rogu. He must get the ill child back to his parent, his sibling. 

Maybe in the past, he would have abandoned anyone and anything for his Lord, no matter their relative importance to them. Kabuto was a jealous person, if this had been Sasuke, the Sound Five, the fragments of Team Taka -

None of them would be clutched to his chest as he ran, forgetting about fighting, forgetting about his own safety. But the boy he fled with and comforted now wasn’t just some random student or subordinate - he was Orochimaru’s son.

This is - This is my son. I want him to be okay. I want to be a part of his family again. Orochimaru’s family.

Because - Mitsuki, Rogu, Orochimaru - I love all three of them. 

He hates that he can hear the enemy gaining on him, he hates that he isn’t the powerhouse he was in the last war. But he can’t change the past, now - only the future.

Kabuto’s now racing through a twisting cave, all caverns, easy to get lost in, and he’s fully aware that he only has a few precious minutes before he’ll need to fight for their lives - a fight that can only occur here, in this sort of environment, where he can use one last cunning deceit in his partner’s name. 

“Mitsuki, we’re gonna play a game, okay?” As if this was one of his young orphans, and not Orochimaru’s intelligent, loving child. “Hide-and-seek. I’m sure you played that when you were little. You’re going to hide. You and Miki -”

Quick bite to his thumb, quick hand placement on the stone floor, forcing himself to call forth Miki and Akira -

“You and Miki are going to hide. And when you are hidden, Miki is going to look for Orochimaru, and she is going to tell them where you are. And you will not come out until I, or your parent, come to find you, okay? Do you understand me? You can not come out. The people behind us will kill you on sight. They know whose son you are. Stay hidden. Okay? Can you do that for me, sweetie?” 

It’s a testament to Miki’s character that she instinctively knows she’s about to lose another summoner, but she goes anyway, faithfully searching for the Sannin, who is no doubt searching with a mother bear’s rage themself. It’s a testimony to Mitsuki’s character that, despite his desire to help, or to have Kabuto hide with him, that he knows he’s too ill to fight, and that Kabuto needs to be the distraction, and that Mitsuki can only give the doctor one last parting hug before disappearing into the recesses of the cave.

For Kabuto and Mitsuki have a pained yet mutual understanding, in this moment: there will not be two casualties here today, there will not be two people snuffed out of Orochimaru’s life like a breath ending a candle’s flame - only one.

As he has always done for Orochimaru, Kabuto doesn’t hesitate: as soon as Mitsuki is too far to be noticed - and too far to be harmed in Kabuto’s last attempt to save his family - he races to meet their pursuers head on. 

He thinks about the day he first realized his feelings for the Sannin transcended those of a mere subordinate and master, when their hand briefly falling on his shoulder caused him to feel a warmth so foreign to his heart.

I loved you.

He thinks about their recent reconnections, now to be ripped from the two of them like he’d never let Mitsuki be torn from his chest. Of physical and emotional closeness, of forgiveness and new-found, or perhaps rekindled, intimacy. 

I love you.

He thinks of how his Chakra Scalpels are slicing through enemies, how he’s falling back, leading the attacking squadron to an open part of the cave, how he’s forcing his taxed muscles to keep moving and fighting, how that second, hidden serpent of his ensures they remained trapped in the cavern with him -

he’s -

- it was dormant, it was too long since he’d used it fully, but if so many other ninjas could push themselves beyond their breaking points for the ones they loved, damn it, why couldn’t he -

Please, God. Please let me do one thing in my life right -

“What are you?!” someone cries, and he can’t tell if the voice comes from the present or the past, but he knows his voice comes from the here and now, no matter the past he echoes -

“Kabuto. Orochimaru’s Kabuto.”

I still love you -

All he sees is white. 

If he squints, he can pretend he sees Orochimaru’s smile, one last time.

When he had trained with the White Snake Sage, she’d warned him never to use a certain technique unless it was absolutely necessary. “You are a mere human,” she’d hissed. “It could kill you. You lack the required ... characteristics to survive it.”

Haven’t I always said I’d kill for you? That I’d die for you?

Kabuto doesn’t know if the shrieking he hears is his own, or his opponents’, or some combination. All he knows is that, in forcing himself to use this personification of rage, he’s blinding and paralyzing what remains of his enemies - that the vibrations alone will kill them, for despite their strength as a collective unit, they couldn’t last individually. 

Although, with the damage he’s taken, with his age, with being so out-of-practice with his Sage Mode -

It will probably kill him, too.

I love you. I love you. I love you.

The part of his conscience that sounds like Orochimaru, and the part that carries his own voice, are mixing together. As if they were there with him, confirming that these romantic feelings were mutual, now. 

There’s silence. He can’t see. But he can hear the silence, and it’s deafening, for a moment.

Kabuto’s hand extends shakily, as he hears their voice, finally. He’ll pretend that Orochimaru is coming for him, even though he hadn’t told Miki where he would be, she only knew where Mitsuki was stashed away, and even though Akira was forced to dissipate with the strength of his attack and couldn’t call for them.

He thinks he’s going to die, today. Alone, his found family far away.

And he’s okay with it. 

Because the people I love are safe.

His last thought before unconsciousness claims him is how, sometimes, falling could feel like flying.

Here’s a few things that i try to remind myself.

Practice good hygiene.

Make sure you eat!

Don’t stare at a screen all day!

Try new things.

Reach out to your mutuals.

Handle the things that are in your control.
